Early 21 st century New York rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs — singer Karen O , guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase — have announced new music and tour dates in the summer and fall. The group, which recently signed with indie powerhouse Secretly Canadian, say they will have new music in the fall.

The group will play a brace of dates in Europe and Australia in the summer before hitting North America, with dates at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium and the Hollywood Bowl in October, where they will be joined by high school punk rockers the Linda Lindas on both dates and (in Los Angeles) by Japanese Breakfast. It seems likely more dates will be added.

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m. local time.

The group teased the appearances on social media hours on Sunday, before the announcement was made Monday morning.

Formed in 2000, the group was one of the leading lights of the turn-of-the-century New York City rock scene that also included the Strokes, Interpol, LCD Soundsystem, TV on the Radio, the National, Liars, the Rapture and many others. Their unusually spare lineup created a very full sound, dominated by O’s shape-shifting vocals and wild stage presence, Zinner’s effects-laden guitar and Chase’s propulsive drumming; their self-titled debut EP displayed an unexpectedly versatile sound and, in “Our Time,” an anthem for the burgeoning NYC rock scene of the era, which has since been documented in the Lizzy Goodman’s “Meet Me in the Bathroom” memoir and film.

The group signed with the formidable major label Interscope in 2002 and released their debut full-length, “Fever to Tell,” the following year, which spawned the alternative hit “Maps” and launched Karen as a major media figure. An equally strong sophomore effort, “Show Your Bones,” followed three years later and the more electronic-based “It’s Blitz!” three years after that, and the group finished out the decade as a major festival headliner and one of the biggest alternative groups in the business, outlasting the impact of most of their contemporaries. However, they embarked on solo projects and reunited for a final Interscope album, “Mosquito,” in 2011, which finished out their contract with the label. All three were musically active throughout the 2010s, Zinner with production work most prominently with Karen’s 2019 excellent “Lux Prima” collaboration with songwriter-producer Danger Mouse, which sonically recalled ’60s artists like John Barry and Serge Gainsbourg and showed yet another side of her musical talent.

Karen O , the show-stopping front woman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs , will release her solo debut Sept. 9 — and she’s announced a stream of intriguing live events to get her fans even more excited.

In the month following the Sept. 9 release of Crush Songs , Karen will perform a series of gigs in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Berlin — all of them big undersells compared to what she’d play with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Tickets go on sale Aug. 15, with details available here .

On Aug. 27, 21 cities worldwide will play host to exclusive first listen sessions of Crush Songs ’ deluxe vinyl edition. The sessions will take place for private audiences inside homes and apartments, overseen by Sofar Sounds, a live music discovery community that curates secret shows around the world. Crush Songs was recorded in 2006 and 2007 and is hyped as “an intimate collection of lo-fi, bedroom recordings in the vein of Karen’s Oscar-nominated “The Moon Song.” Crush Songs will come out via Cult, the record label owned by The Strokes ’ Julian Casablancas . So far, Karen O has shared the music video for one new song, a somber, lo-fi number called “Rapt.”

One of the albums we’re most looking forward to this fall is Crush Songs , the debut album by Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O . It’s out on Sept. 9, and to celebrate its release, Karen is playing a series of intimate shows in New York City, Los Angeles, London and Berlin.

There is no doubt that South Korean born Karen O is one of the biggest names in music in the last ten years with her success with the hit band, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the name that she’s made for herself in the fashion industry, she even graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has worked on various soundtracks such as the Jackass series, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and even a track with Har Mar Superstar for the film House of Wax. To most people, she is probably best known for her electrifying live antics when performing live.

She has made quite a name for herself as an artist in her own right too, tonight she performs an array of hits from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s catalogue, including the smash hit, “Date with the Night”, in which the whole audience sings back at her. “Maps” is an intimate moment for everyone as she walks into the crowd really engaging everyone. She is care free and incredible to watch as an artist. The highlight for me is when she performs the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s song, “Heads Will Roll”. Everyone is fist pumping on each “Off” from the hookline “Off off off with you’re head…” The defining feature of that is that she did the A-Trak remix of the song. Truly a wonder to be in the presence of such talent, Karen O is a truly seasoned and whimsical entertainer. Definitely worth the watch if you have an open mind!

Shen Yun 2024 is Ready for Takeoff

We’re proud to announce that Shen Yun is about to turn 18. This upcoming 2024 season will be one of our most exciting yet and, with nearly 800 performances, most of you will be able to catch us wherever you are!

Thanks to last year’s tour ending again at our usual time in May, the artists were able to resume a normal schedule of rehearsal and preparation. But even though they had more time to prepare the production this year, they also had a busy offseason filled with dance and music competitions, Symphony Orchestra performances, and more.

You can catch glimpses of the behind-the-scenes daily life, the competition-winning performances, and symphony recordings at  Shen Yun Zuo Pin .

With new stories, new costumes, and new music, Shen Yun 2024 will dazzle your senses. If you haven’t seen us before, prepare to be transported to ancient times, vast grasslands, majestic palaces, and celestial realms; mythical legends are brought to life alongside literary classics, modern tales of courage and hope, and humorous stories filled with colorful characters and their wacky antics.

The other cornerstones of the performances are there as always—classical Chinese dance, a live orchestra combining East and West, animated 3D backdrops, bel canto singers, and erhu  soloists.

And so, as our performers prepare to hit the road, we invite you to prepare for a night of dance, music, and traditional culture. We hope you’ll leave smiling and inspired!

First performances take place in late December, starting with Nagoya , Japan (Dec. 22), Houston , TX (Dec. 26), Ft. Lauderdale , FL (Dec. 26), Florence , Italy (Dec. 27), Boston , MA (Dec. 28), San Jose , CA (Dec. 29), Dallas , TX (Dec. 29), and Birmingham , UK (Dec. 29). 

Some highlights to look forward to on our upcoming tour include first-ever shows in Puerto Rico, month-long runs in Japan, Italy, and England, as well as performances in gorgeous historical theaters like Prague State Opera and Parma’s Teatro Regio .

Why Schedule a Campus Visit?

You’re making an important decision. You’ve browsed our website, reviewed brochures and done your research. Still, getting a feel for campus can help you make your final choice. Take in the culture and our Moscow location, experience life in the dorms and dining halls and see where you’ll be learning. Begin to see yourself at U of I with a campus visit.

Confirm your initial impression. If research grabs your attention, a campus visit goes beyond. Determine if you feel at home as a Vandal and if a particular program of study is right for you. Use your visit or campus tour to meet professors and other students, narrow down your list of majors and make a definite decision once you receive your acceptance letter in the spring.

Make the Most of Your Campus Visit

You’ve heard this advice before — don’t just look at buildings. Instead, keep the following in mind whether you’re attending an event, campus tour or a virtual session:

• When to schedule your visit: Check out our Moscow campus as students attend class, engage in research and go about their day-to-day lives as Vandals. Ideally, attend a tour before submitting your application, preferably in the spring of your junior year or early fall of your senior year.
• Be ready to ask questions: Make a list ahead of time to ask your tour guide, admissions counselor and students you see around campus.
• Consider multiple campus visits: Start virtually to get a feel for our campus. Then, to get a more personal perspective, consider attending an on-campus visit. Here, opt for a student-guided campus tour, and schedule in visits with schools or departments for programs you’re curious about.
• Take notes: What makes U of I unique? How does being a Vandal resonate with you? Document your visit with notes and photos to reference later.
• Prepare ahead of time: Avoid attending a campus visit on a whim. Instead, schedule your visit in advance, make plans for a college or program visit, explore our virtual resources, review a map to understand the layout of our campus and make travel arrangements. Additionally, continue your research to ask questions during your visit.
