GODSMACK 's eighth album, "Lighting Up The Sky" , was released last month via BMG . The LP was co-produced by GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna and Andrew "Mudrock" Murdock ( AVENGED SEVENFOLD , ALICE COOPER ).

The first single from "Lighting Up The Sky" , "Surrender" , which arrived in September, marked the first release from GODSMACK in four years, following their globally acclaimed and gold-certified 2018 album "When Legends Rise" , which earned the Erna -fronted outfit a No. 1 spot across U.S. Hard Rock, Rock, and Alternative album charts.

GODSMACK will embark on a spring 2023 U.S. tour with special guests I PREVAIL .

STAIND has completed work on its long-awaited new studio album. Lewis offered an update on the LP's recording progress during his February 24 solo concert in Mount Vernon, Kentucky. Before launching into his song "I Ain't Made In China" , the 50-year-old guitarist/vocalist told the crowd: "I just finished a new STAIND record. And I just finished my new solo record. How I found the time to do it, I'm not really sure. I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead."

This past December, Mushok told the Loaded Radio podcast about the musical direction of STAIND 's new material: "It's a little bit more modernized, I think. I think that was something we kind of wanted to do. There's a little bit more of an electronic element on there, which is something new for us, but I feel like everybody is kind of doing that. But I think it's cool. It's not overused. I think the songs are really good. I'm really happy with it. I can't wait for people to hear it."

Mushok also talked about his working relationship with Lewis , saying: "We've been doing it for a long time. It's great to be back and doing that… I think that we definitely respect each other. It's kind of always been that. I think that STAIND 's really kind of been… For the most part, I bring some music in and he decides what he likes and what he wants to write to, and we kind of take it from there. That being said, he's come in, obviously, with some amazing songs as well. So it's been a really good writing partnership, I feel."

Last September, Mushok told Atlantic City Weekly that both he and Lewis will continue to pursue other projects — Mushok with SAINT ASONIA , the band he co-founded in 2015 with former THREE DAYS GRACE singer Adam Gontier , and Lewis with his country solo career — alongside their long-running outfit.

" Aaron 's built up a great following and great career that he'll fully pursue," Mushok said. "If we can do some STAIND shows in there, it would be great. If we can find a week here or there or maybe a tour every now and then, I'd be cool with that. Like we are looking to do a [ STAIND ] record, so we'll see how much we do to promote that. Honestly, I'm kind of taking it as it comes, one day at a time. It's hard to plan, you know what I mean. Who would have thought the world would shut down? So you've got to take it as it comes."

In 2021, STAIND supported KORN on a U.S. run of dates.

STAIND released its first album in nine years, "Live: It's Been Awhile" , in May 2021 via Yap'em / Alchemy Recordings . The "Live: It's Been Awhile" album was accompanied by "The Return Of Staind" , a two-part global streaming series in partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents . The series launched with STAIND 's "Live: It's Been Awhile (From Foxwoods)" concert, which streamed globally on May 1, 2021. The "Live: It's Been Awhile" album and concert were recorded at the band's comeback show at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut in October 2019. The never-before-seen concert celebrated the band's reunion after a five-year hiatus. STAIND also performed its iconic multi-platinum 2001 album "Break The Cycle" in its entirety for a May 8, 2021 streaming event, exactly 20 years after the album's release. The "20th Anniversary Of Break The Cycle, Performed In Its Entirety" took place at Mill 1 in Open Square in Holyoke, Massachusetts, bringing the band back to their Western Mass roots.

STAIND played its first full live show in five years in September 2019 at the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

GODSMACK and STAIND 2023 Tour Dates

GODSMACK ‘s 8th album, “Lighting Up The Sky” , was released last month via BMG . The LP was co-produced by GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna and Andrew “Mudrock” Murdock ( AVENGED SEVENFOLD , ALICE COOPER ).

The first single from “Lighting Up The Sky” , “Surrender” , which arrived in September, marked the first release from GODSMACK in four years, following their globally acclaimed and gold-certified 2018 album “When Legends Rise” , which earned the Erna -fronted outfit a No. 1 spot across U.S. Hard Rock, Rock, and Alternative album charts.

GODSMACK will embark on a spring 2023 U.S. tour with special guests I PREVAIL .

In 2021, STAIND supported KORN on a U.S. run of dates. STAIND released its first album in nine years, “Live: It’s Been Awhile” , in May 2021 via Yap’em / Alchemy Recordings . The “Live: It’s Been Awhile” album was accompanied by “The Return Of Staind” , a two-part global streaming series in partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents . The series launched with STAIND ‘s “Live: It’s Been Awhile (From Foxwoods)” concert, which streamed globally on May 1, 2021. The “Live: It’s Been Awhile” album and concert were recorded at the band’s comeback show at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut in October 2019. The never-before-seen concert celebrated the band’s reunion after a five-year hiatus. STAIND also performed its iconic multi-platinum 2001 album “Break The Cycle” in its entirety for a May 8, 2021 streaming event, exactly 20 years after the album’s release. The “20th Anniversary Of Break The Cycle, Performed In Its Entirety” took place at Mill 1 in Open Square in Holyoke, Massachusetts, bringing the band back to their Western Mass roots.

STAIND played its first full live show in five years in September 2019 at the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

GODSMACK/Staind 2023 North American Tour

godsmack north american tour 2023

Godsmack, along with co-headliner Staind brought their 2023 North American tour to Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia.

Opening the show was mix-master Mike, the DJ from the notorious Beastie Boys. Mix-master Mike played about 25 minutes of mixology to get the crowd ready for this warm summer’s night.

After a stage change the coheadliner, Staind came on. They played a 15-song list  of their smash hits from the past, such as “Outside,” “It’s Been Awhile” and “Mud Shovel.” This was my third time seeing them, and I would say this is the best I have heard Aaron Lewis’ voice. The band all around put on an enjoyable show for the crowd.

godsmack north american tour 2023

After another stage set up, mix-master Mike came out again to get the crowd hyped up for what was about to be an explosive night of rock music.  As he started playing Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” a large pop of pyro went off and the curtain dropped. There stood the bad boys of Massachusetts on stage getting ready to rock you out. Godsmack has been playing music for 25 years. Having released numerous albums over the years, they also played a 15-song set with such hits as “When Legends Rise, “Bulletproof,” “Voodoo,” “Cryin’ Like a Bitch” and “I Stand Alone.” Godsmack also performed a song that Sully Erna wrote called “Under Your Scars.” Sully and Godsmack started a foundation called The Scars Foundation. The organization was started to help people with mental health issues such as depression, addiction, and PTSD. Check out the organization when you get a chance. This is the fifth time I have seen Godsmack perform, and I would say that this was the best show out of the five, though all of them were good. Sully did a lot of interacting with the crowd and even threw bottles of water to people in the pit. One of the best things about the show – lots of pyrotechnics and fire.

Jon Batiste to embark on The Uneasy Tour in 2024, first North American headlining tour

LOS ANGELES —  Jon Batiste , the Grammy- and Oscar-winning musician and former bandleader for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," will embark on his first North American headlining tour in support of his latest album. The expansive  "World Music Radio,"  featuring his signature rich blend of R&B, hip-hop, swing, jazz and pop, was released earlier this summer.

The tour news arrived Monday, on the heels of the  2024 Grammy nominations  announcement: Batiste is up for six Grammys, including album, song, and record of the year.

The Uneasy Tour: Purifying the Airwaves for the People will kick off Feb. 16 in Portland, Oregon, and take Batiste across the U.S. and Canada. The tour wraps in Miramar Beach, Florida, on April 27.

Along the way, he'll hit numerous cities including Seattle, San Francisco, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York and Atlanta.

"I'm into numbers, so: 20 theaters and 24 performances to bless the pivotal year 2024. For my first solo run I wanted to play in smaller venues and curate experiences that let me really feel the people while I play. Think of these 24 shows less as a tour and more as a series of 24 not to be missed experiences, each being one-of-a-kind," Batiste told The Associated Press in an exclusive statement. "We are designing these performances to be catalysts to bring people together, raise awareness for things I care about and inspire change in this country, and the world."

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

The goal, he says, is to experience his performances in "intimate, life-affirming presentations created to unite, uplift and inspire us all in this time of change and uncertainty," he explained.

How to get Jon Batiste tickets for Uneasy Tour

Presales begin Nov. 14 and tickets for the general public go on sale Nov. 17, both on Ticketmaster .

For those who can’t wait until next year for their Batiste: The multi-instrumentalist is the subject of a new documentary titled "American Symphony," which follows his journey to compose a symphony while his wife, writer Suleika Jaouad, undergoes cancer treatment. It will hit theaters on Nov. 24 and Netflix on Nov. 29.
