MSC Magnifica (2010-built, last refurbished in 2021/stretched) is the fourth and last of the Musica-class MSC cruise ships - together with  Musica ,  Orchestra  and  Poesia .

The MSC Magnifica cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 1253 staterooms for 2506 passengers (max capacity is 3007) served by 1040 crew-staff. The boat has 16 decks (13 passenger-accessible, 8 with cabins), 6 dining options (restaurants and food bars), 17 lounges and bars, 3 swimming pools (1 sliding roof-covered pool “La Grotta Azzurra”), 8 Jacuzzis (outdoor whirlpool hot tubs), 20 elevators.

MSC Magnifica decks are named after famous Italian Riviera port towns.

MSC Magnifica deckplan changes 2021 refurbishment

In 2021, the liner will be drydocked for a USD 140 million reconstruction and refurbishment project. The project includes stretching the vessel by 23 m (76 ft) by cutting it in half and inserting midship a pre-fabricated section (hull and superstructure).

Following the drydock (January-March 2021), the ship has 215 more cabins (including 92 with balconies), new Aqua Park (with waterslide), completely redesigned kids playground, 2 new restaurants, larger shopping complex. The number of staterooms was increased from 1259 to 1774.

The refit project created an additional 7000 m2 (75350 ft2) of onboard space. Ship's machinery was upgraded with new maritime technologies, among which the pro-environment SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), AWT (Advanced Wastewater Treatment) and shoreside power capabilities .

"MSC for Me" Digital Innovation Program 2017-2018

Each of the MSC cruise ships will be fitted with thousands of connectivity points, digital access points, iBeacons (Bluetooth) and hundreds of interactive digital screens throughout the ship. In all staterooms will be implemented RFID (radio-frequency identification) and NFC (near-field communication) access technologies.

The new program will be implemented fleetwide, but first introduced on MSC Meraviglia . The cruise ship, launched in June 2017, was fitted with a total of 114 Interactive screens, 244 info screens, 31 virtual screens, 81 video wall monitors, 2244 cabins, (NFC entry-door opening), 3050 iBeacons, 700 WAPs (wireless access points), 1200 CCTV cameras.

Some of the MSC digitalization program's main features are:

• The apps implement facial recognition technology and interactive/smart bracelets by Samsung.
• Digital Concierge app - passengers can reserve/book onboard services, restaurants and shore excursions in real time. The app is real-time and 24-hour, connecting MSC customers to the company's experienced staff online.
• Capture - virtual reality tool to preview the cruise itinerary, create personal photo galleries, online sharing.
• Organizer - a cruise planning tool used at mobile devices. It provides detailed information and also allows pre-booking (tours, theater seats, dinner table, etc) before ship embarkation (pre-cruise booking) and while onboard (realtime cruise planner).
• Navigation - Interactive map (way finder) provides advice (scheduled events, opening hours, etc) and directions while on the ship. The app also allows real-time kids monitoring (via bracelets).
• TailorMade - digital advisor for personal recommendations based on the passenger's preferences (interactive gaming, gambling, culinary, recreational, entertainment, etc).
• Passengers can always opt out of all these connected ("Internet of things" / IoT) services offered.

Debuted in 2010, MSC Magnifica has a capacity of 3,013 passengers and 987 crew members. The ship received a major refurbishment in summer 2021 that added 215 new staterooms, two new restaurants, a new 8,000-square-foot sundeck and other new public spaces. 

During the day, guests can swim laps in the swimming pools, receive treatments at the spa, visit the bowling alley or work up a sweat at the ship's gym. At night, guests can take in live shows, try their luck at the casino or relax in one of 12 bars and lounges.

When it's time to go to bed, cruisers can rest their heads in Interior, Ocean View or Balcony staterooms, or opt for a Suite equipped with an oversized balcony for more space. All cabins are outfitted with minibars, TVs and closets. 

MSC Magnifica sails throughout the Mediterranean . The ship also has world cruise itineraries.

MSC Magnifica to Reposition to Europe in 2025

Previously scheduled to offer short cruises to the Bahamas, the MSC Magnifica is now set to sail in Europe during the summer season of 2025.

Joining MSC Cruises’ lineup in the Western Mediterranean, the 2010-built cruise ship will offer a new seven-night itinerary to Italy, France, and Spain.

The itinerary, which is set to run between early May and early October 2025, includes visits to Genoa, Marseille, Valencia and Tarragona.

With only one day at sea, the itinerary also includes stops in Civitavecchia and Livorno, from where guests can visit Rome and Pisa, respectively.

Following the summer program, the MSC Magnifica is scheduled to offer varying itineraries in the Western Mediterranean before kicking off MSC Cruises’ 2026 World Cruise.

Taking over the global voyage from the MSC Poesia, the 2,550-guest vessel is set to depart from Genoa on January 6, 2026 .

During the 119-day world voyage,, the 89,600-ton ship is scheduled to travel 36,000 nautical miles and visit 47 destinations in 32 countries and five continents.

Currently sailing from PortMiami, the MSC Magnifica has been offering three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas and Florida since late 2023 .

In addition to Nassau, Freeport, and Key West, the vessel’s itineraries also include visits to MSC Cruises’ private island destination, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Now, the MSC Seascape is scheduled to offer three- to seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas departing from PortMiami in 2025.

After entering service next April , the 5,400-guest MSC World America is also set to sail from the South Florida homeport on a year-round basis.

MSC Cruises’ fleet in the United States for the summer of 2025 also includes the MSC Meraviglia sailing from New York City and the MSC Seashore sailing from Port Canaveral.
