If you want to kayak or stand up paddle board in Punakaiki check out Waka Puna located right beside the Pororari River bridge. They have a range of kayaks and paddle boards for hire to suit anyone plus wetsuits, wet shoes, shorts and life jackets. All hires include a briefing which describes the significance of the water way and its features and how to use water craft safely.

Punakaiki Horse Treks was and amazing experience on the South Island. A lot of the horses are rescued and transitioning to new homes. The trek winds through the mountain valleys, rivers, and out on to the beach. They offer horses for all levels of riders and are very helpful in getting you geared up and comfortable for your trek.
