Eco Adventures Margaret River
Come along with me as I take you on the world’s first electric quad bike guided tour of the Forest Grove Trail Ride with Eco Adventures Margaret River. This trail takes you through 18km of magnificient Margaret River scenery on your very own quiet and eco friendly quad bike on this 90 minute guided tour.
Table of Contents
Where do the electric quad bike tours start from?
Tours start from the Eco Adventures Margaret River shed located at 110 Drummond Road, Forest Grove, approximately 17kms south of Margaret River. This is where we signed our waiver, got suited up with our riding gear and were allocated our quad bike for the tour. Our tour guide Adam gave us a quick instruction on how to operate the bike, all the do’s and don’ts and then we were on our way.
What age do you have to be to do the tour?
Anyone from 4 years can join in the tour, however to be a driver you must hold a valid drivers license or learner’s permit. Those who are younger or that don’t have a driver’s license can ride with a driver. Each electric quad bike can hold one passenger.
Do you need a drivers license to ride the electric quad bikes?
Yes. You do need to hold a valid driver’s license or learners permit to ride the electric quad bikes. This is because the electric quad bikes cross and drive along short sections of public roads during the tour. The electric quad bikes are licensed for road use.
What should I wear for the tour?
Enclosed footwear and long pants are recommended, however shorts are ok. Make sure you wear clothing and footwear you don’t mind getting a little dirty or muddy. I also recommend wearing sunglasses, otherwise googles are provided should you need to protect your eyes.
What should I bring on the tour?
Bring wet weather gear or additional clothing for warmth in the cooler and wetter months. Your phone / camera, sunscreen, some water and light snacks. There is a cooler box on each quad that you can put food, drink or other items in.
Are the electric quad bikes easy to ride?
The electric quad bikes are very easy to ride. You don’t even need to start them. They are ready to go with a simple press of the accelerator lever and a brake handle on the other side. That’s it.
What will I see along the way during the tour?
The guided tour took us on a journey through various Margaret River backdrops via the private properties that surround the Eco Adventures Margaret River shed. We saw parts of Margaret River we would never otherwise experience and wide variety of sceneries including tall trees, vineyards, dams, fruit trees, farm land and more.
We also encountered some wildlife along the way, including a mob of kangaroos while we drove the electric quad bikes through a vineyard and some emus in the distance as we returned back to the shed. Our Eco Adventures Margaret River guide Adam was very careful to keep us at a distance from any wildlife and to let them pass before we continued on.
Is there any challenging terrain on the tour?
You don’t need any motorbike riding skill but there were some parts that gave me a little bit of a thrill. I loved the water crossings, the bumpy tracks and muddy paths with tight turns.
How fast do the electric quad bikes go?
The electric quad bikes have been fully converted to electric and are capped at around 25km per hour.
Are there stops along the way?
There were a couple of short stops for a quick drink and snack while the guide took some photos with our phones / cameras. We also had several stops when opening and closing gates and crossing or travelling on public roads, which were great opportunities to grab some photos while we were stopped. Stops were only brief though as most of the tour time was spent riding.
When do the electric quad bike tours run?
Electric quad bike tours with Eco Adventures Margaret River run all year round, most days of the week. Places are limited on each tour and you can book either a driver only or driver plus passenger spot online before you arrive. This is a popular tour for larger groups so be sure to plan and book well ahead of time.
Eco Adventures Margaret River Electric Quad Bike Tour Summary
I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this tour if you are a lover of a little bit of adventure, no matter what your bike riding skill level. It provides a unique Margaret River experience and takes you to places you wouldn’t otherwise be able to access. The quietness of the bikes meant I could talk to my fellow riders along the way. I also loved hearing all the squeels of excitement from others in the group. It’s really good to know that our presense meant minimal disturbance to environment and wildlife too. A Forest Grove Trail Ride Tour with Eco Adventures is an absolute a Margaret River must for adventurers.

Quad Bike Tour
We went to Oyster Ridge in the morning. Fantastic ride out - could not believe that there was unbelievable pristine beautiful deserted white beach such a short ride from the main tourist area. Our guide was fabulous and really looked after us. We had an inexperienced rider in our group and by the end of it she was as confident as the rest of us. Highly recommended tour - thanks so much
Hi, Thank you for taking your time to write a review for us. We are glad you all had a great time out at Oyster Bridge. This is a very good snorkelling spot with beautiful pristine waters and abundant marine life all year around. Hope to see you again very soon here in Coral Bay!
One day with coral breeze sailing/snorkeling: We sailed almost 6 hours on this beautiful catamaran with our 2 young children (7/8 Y old). What for an experience! Snorkeling 3 times, boom netting, BBQ (excellent fishes and great salads) and great crew on board. Notice that snorkeling gear is provided, a bus to get you to the marina ( and return) and some perfect explanations where to snorkel safely with the kids. We appreciated the space on board, the cool atmosphere and the attentions to our kids who were so happy to discover 1'000 fishes, lavender coral and to follow a beautiful green turtle! We thank the crew for this Memorial Day :-) Ps: we hire a wetsuit because of the cold water for the day (5$)
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Coastal Adventure Tours. We are very glad and happy that everyone had a great day especially your little ones. Hopefully we will see you again in Coral Bay.
We did the quad bike ride, there were 5 bikes plus Shano, our great guide! Really nice 400cc machines, well-maintained and rugged. The sand trails we went through were surprisingly quite technical but loved every second of it. Nothing beats the thrill of quad-biking in these conditions. And the machines handled them well of course. Caught the sunset in a slightly elevated area, spotted turtles just drifting lazily near the coast and also saw a bunch of roos. All-in-all a solid 2 hours of hard-riding fun, just the perfect end to the day.
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are very happy to hear that you had such a great time on our Quad Trek tours. It is definetly a great way to see the surrounding of Coral bay and experince the nature and wild life. Hopefully we will see you again in Coral bay.
What more could you ask for - no experience needed to give it a go! We had so much fun & could not stop laughing the whole trek. My mum was my passenger, who was delighted & enjoyed the whole trek. There is so much to see too & you visit an area of the coast you normally would not. It was a safe adventure & the tour guide was fantastic. Our fabulous guide took us through the use of the bike with so much calm & ease that we had no problems getting going & picking up the pace once on the white sand dunes. We bought the photos our guide took of us on the bikes & they were amazing. It was well worth the $28 for the memories & shots we could not take while driving. It is a must do when you visit Coral Bay WA.
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write this review... We are so happy to hear you had a great time whilst out on tour with Quad Treks. It really is a fantastic way to get out and see the surrounding areas of Coral Bay. Hope to see you again soon :) Gemma
We wanted a family adventure and we got one!! We decided on the quad bike turtle adventure and it was the best 2 hours we've ever had!! Shano our guide was amazing! We rode the quad bikes through the dunes for an hour until we got to where the turtles feed at high tide. I was skeptical on seeing turtles but when we got there there they were feeding and having fun in the shallow water.Shano was so knowledgable on them and we saw a shark and stingrays also. We then made our way to ride on the beach until we got to an awesome swimming spot where we went swimming. We had an absolute blast and highly recommend it. We had 3 kids so shano took one with him and we all had a great time.
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Coastal Adventure Tours! Shane is a great tour guide, we are very lucky to have him as part of our team. Turtles are around Coral Bay ALL Year round and with it being turtle mating and nesting season whilst you were here it sounds like they put on their show for you! The Snorkel spot that you went to is called "Five Finger Reef" it's a very special area which offers a variety of Marine Life all year round. Hope to see you back in Coral Bay again one day soon! Gemma
FUN FUN FUN - there is no other way to describe the quad bike and snorkelling tour. We went with Liam who was a great guide. The quad bikes riding the various tracks through the sand-dunes was fantastic, topped off by a great snorkelling session mid-tour. The tour cost was $120 which included the use of the quad bike and the snorkelling gear which ran for 2.5 hours. It was money well spent and I would throughly recommend a quad bike tour when you are in Coral Bay. You will see the quad bikes parked off the side of the main street near the shops - just do it - you will love it.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review on here. It is great to hear that you all had an excellent time on our Quad Bike Tour. Liam is a fantastic new addition to our team and a great tour guide - it is so nice to be receiving such positive feedback for him already! We hope that you come back to visit us next time you are in Coral Bay :) Thanks, Gemma

Absolutely brillliant! Great fun, well looked after, everyone from the office to the guide was lovely and helpful. We had a hoot!
Perth, Australia
We loved every minute of this well organised kayak on the lake. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Excellent views and reflections of the mountains and the flora in the lakes. We even had a closeup visit to a white heron. Highly recommended!
Simi, New York, USA
I cannot recommend this enough! I’ve now done it twice in 3 years and both times it was spectacular, both in terms of scenery and overall experience. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable and was taking candid snaps all throughout the trip that we had access to later on. I highly recommend the morning trip, as that’s when the water is like glass and it feels so serene gliding over it. It truly is one of the best experiences in Franz Josef.
