Keeping your tech organized and accessible is essential for a stress-free travel experience. Sure, we used to just toss our tech items in a clean toiletry case and call it a day, but that was before we had so much stuff. These days it seems like there’s a different cable for every device, and a different device for practically everything. We’d rather spend a little extra time in the sun than be fiddling with tangled charging cords or searching for the correct generation USB plug.

These travel tech organizers will keep you juiced up, plugged in, and zoned out without skipping a beat. We’ve got picks for the ultra-minimalist who can survive with the bare essentials, the unabashed maximalist who needs space for everything, and everyone in between.

Best Overall

Calpak tech organizer.

It’s got a packable, slim profile but still fits the essentials.

The retention bands can lose elasticity quickly when storing overly bulky items.

This minimalist bag has a spot for all your essential travel tech accessories and comes with the quality and cachet of the Calpak name. The clamshell design makes it a cinch to grab your gear without fiddling with deep pockets or multiple organization layers. Plus, this tech organizer sports the right amount of padding — enough to cushion but so much that adds unnecessary bulk — and its slim 1.5 inch-deep profile still fits nicely in a carry-on or personal item bag. The top grab handle makes it easy to pull out and carry, too.

All three full-side storage pockets have convenient pull tab zippers, and two have front mesh fabric, so you can assess their contents in one quick look. We found the two interior slip pockets large enough to hold a portable charging bank and loved how the four elastic retention bands kept our cords separated, snug, and at the ready. Just note that these bands can stretch out over time; faster if you store very thick or bulky cords. Plus this case comes in 12 colors and patterns, so it’s simple to pair the perfect bag with your travel style.

The Details: 9.5 x 7 x 1.5 inches | 0.25 pounds | Polyester and polyethylene

Best Budget

Bevegekos tech organizer travel case.

You get twice the usual storage area with this organizer’s two-layer, double-clamshell design.

The smaller compartments are tiny and reduce the overall functionality of the organizer.

There are not a lot of bells and whistles with this basic organizer, but it delivers for anyone who doesn’t travel often or those who don’t have many tech accessories to pack. We really liked the extra value that the double-layer clamshell design gives. Instead of the usual two interior storage walls, this organizer has four. You’ll get two larger slip pockets for storing a smartphone or charging bank, three medium-sized mesh pockets for things like wireless earbuds or USB charging cables, and a deep slip pocket with two fairly tight small mesh slip pockets on top. The two small mesh pockets can only really fit something small, like an SD card, leaving it to feel a bit outdated and like a waste of space. Instead, we’d rather see this whole panel used as another large slip pocket. This bag also comes in medium and large versions, with varying dimensions and deeper pocket sizes.

The Details: 7.48 x 4.33 x 2.16 inches | 3.87 ounces | Jacquard | Water-resistant

Best Roll-up

Procase travel gear organizer.

The elastic closure band keeps it secure whether it’s stuffed or slightly filled.

There is a risk of items slipping out if the elastic on the interior pockets loosens.

Unlike a zippered bag with a fixed width, this rolling design allows you to pack in a variety of tech accessories without having to worry as much about volume constraints. With this organizer bag, you’ll be able to stuff all the pockets and roll it up. The elastic band closure will secure the roll whether you’ve packed a lot or a little. Other rolling bags we’ve seen have a fixed snap or buckle closure, which means you’ve got to fill the bag exactly in order to get a secure closure. We also like that when this unrolls, your entire tech set is laid out and easy to access. Storage compartments include three mesh zippered pockets, six retention bands for cords, three mini slip pockets, and two expandable nylon slip pockets. We do want to flag that once the elastic pockets start to loosen, you may run the risk of some items sliding out.

The Details: 17 x 9 inches (laid flat), 4.5 × 9 inches (rolled up) | 4.6 ounces | Nylon | Water-resistant

Best Everyday Use

Dagne dover tech organizer.

Dagne Dover

There’s a D-ring loop that can clip into a main bag for easy locating on the go.

It’s best used with Apple products.

This simple but effective tech organizer from Dagne Dover is a no-fuss solution for making sure you always have your essential tech accessories with you. Like with many compact travel tech organizers, the Dagne Dover Arlo Tech Organizer seems to work best with Apple products (or products with a similar size and shape). It’s a great organizer for everyday use during commutes with compartments for a computer charging cable extender, charging brick, a small USB charging wall adapter, and a USB charging cord. We also like the small, plastic D-ring that can be clipped into a larger commuter backpack. The tough neoprene material is waterproof, too. So if you get caught in bad weather, you don’t have to panic. We like the small version but it also comes in a large size for those with more gear.

The Details: 4.5 x 2.25 x 5 inches | 5 ounces | Neoprene, recycled polyester | Waterproof

Mark & Graham Essential Tech Folio

Mark & Graham

Design details boost the overall look of the folio.

It’s leather and can be ruined with excessive water exposure.

With two-toned colorways and design details like angled leather pocket sleeves, this folio earns extra style points. Thankfully, it’s not looks over function as you use tasseled leather pulls to navigate the gold metal zip. Once opened, you’ll see one side with two inset sleeves, a change pocket, and cut-slots for your ID and other cards along with a spot for a tablet; the large version can fit a standard iPad but it also comes in a small size that fits an iPad Mini. The other side has well-spaced leather slip pockets for things like a wireless earbuds case, a smartphone, a passport, and thin loose charging cables. Giving it as a gift? You can go the extra mile and personalize it with a gold or silver foil embossed monogram or larger printed letters. This is a real leather product, so it’ll need to be handled with care. Wipe off and dry any water to avoid spotting or damage.

The Details: 8.5 x 11 x 1 inches | Leather

Best Cable Organizer

Side by side cable organizer tech bag.

It has a very packable shape and unbeatable storage capabilities (that even fits bulky PC chargers).

Most of its storage organization uses retention straps.

This organizer bag immediately stands out among others because of its shape. It goes against the grain of the usual boxy design and goes for slim length. We love it not only because this makes it extremely convenient to pack (especially in a duffel or backpack) but also because it requires less bending for your cords. It can accommodate long cords easily and manages to do what few tech organizers can: fit those thick PC charging cords , including the brick. The outer panels have a flexible compression fabric that holds items in place but can stretch to fit oddly shaped or oversized accessories. Items are stored in two separate zippered compartment sides, mostly using elastic retention straps of different sizes. There’s only one zippered pocket inside. It’s mesh and roughly the size of a credit card.

The Details: 10.2 x 3.5 x 1.6 inches | 9 ounces | 300D polyester, elastane nylon

Best With Stand-up Case

Native union stow lite organizer.

It looks smart and is made from soft but durable recycled materials.

There’s no handle or wrist strap.

This soft-sided tech organizer bag has an A-line silhouette that ensures it will stand up on its own, making it more convenient when you’re searching for something or loading it up before a trip. We like how simple but stylish it is. It's made from recycled plastic bottles with a leather zipper trim that kicks up the look (though we wrestled with the zipper a few times because of the trim). It’s a great pick for travelers who have a few specific items they want to store separately for quick access, but don’t mind tossing other items in the main pocket. The interior organization includes five lightly padded slip pockets for items like USB charging cords, Bluetooth mouse, and earbuds with the case. The main pocket can be a bit snug when the pockets are full but can generally fit an iPhone charger and MacBook charger (both with bricks), a slim charging bank, a few extra USB cables, and small wall adapters. One thing we found to be lacking? You can only carry it like a clutch — there’s no handle strap or detachable wristband.

The Details: ‎4.53 x 7.48 x 2.56 inches | 3.18 ounces | Leather and recycled polyester | Water-repellent

Best Leather

Parker clay utility pouch.

Parker Clay

The beautiful and durable leather is sourced from Ethiopia.

The partially zippered opening can make it annoying to load.

If you’re the type of person who likes to keep their valuables close, this gorgeous leather tech pouch is carried like a clutch. It’s made from sustainable goat leather from Ethiopia, which looks as luxe as it feels against your palm. We like bringing this pouch in our personal item and packing it with our in-flight entertainment tech essentials like an iPad mini, Kindle, smartphone, earbuds with a case, and corresponding chargers. It’s also best unloaded at your seat since you’ll only get a two-thirds opening, which can block access and be especially frustrating when loading it up. On the plus side, a quick change of contents and this pouch can easily become a clutch.

The Details: 10 x 7 x 0.25 inches | Leather

Best for Apple Products

Away the tech case.

It can fit a boxy universal travel adapter.

The deep shape that takes up twice as much room as other comparable products.

Away’s The Tech Case follows the brand’s reputation of high-quality travel gear that goes big on understated style and function. This soft-sided case is water-resistant and has a spacious dual level design that’s good for storing and organizing bulky tech accessories when traveling. The flip-top zipper closure has three retention bands that are the perfect size for storing USB charging cords and an earbuds case. On the opposite side, there’s a shallow compartment with a mesh panel that unzips, revealing access to a deeper bottom compartment where you can store your laptop charging cable, extension cable, and power brick. We like it because it’s possible to fit a universal plug adapter in this space, making it perfect for international travel. However, at over six inches in depth, it can be tougher to pack simply because of its own bulky shape; so keep that in mind if you’re primarily a carry-on traveler.

The Details: 6.3 x 4.7 x 2.95 inches | 3.7 ounces | Nylon  | Water-resistant

Best Fan-style

Inateck electronics case.

It’s a durable and simple organizer with great capacity.

Since it opens like a book, not all the pockets have security features.

If you’re the type of person who prefers to see all of your items at a glance, consider the Inateck Electronics Organizer Travel Case. It has a unique accordion fan design that opens like a book, neatly exposing its contents. You’ll still get great organization on the inside, too. The large size is approximately the size of a toiletry case and is big enough to fit a Nintendo Switch. The 1200D polyester material is hardy enough to hold up for frequent travelers and makes the bag water-repellent, too. Inside, you’ll find soft and stretchy lycra material with eight various slip pockets, a large velcro-secured pocket, and seven elastic retention straps. Unfortunately, most of the slip pockets do not have elastic rims or security straps, so you’ll want to be sure to have a flat surface since it opens up 180 degrees.

The Details: 10.24 x 3.74 x 5.91 inches | 8.2 ounces | 1200D polyester | Water-repellent

Best Hardsisde

Procase hard travel electronic organizer case.

The water resistance and shock absorption give us extra piece of mind.

It works best for smaller items that aren’t too bulky.

A hardside case is the way to go when it comes to protecting your most expensive tech accessories. This ProCase Hard Travel Electronics Organizer has a durable, water-resistant EVA shell and shock-absorbing lining that works double time to keep your electronics safe from spills, drops, and splashes. We like the convenient wristlet strap and dual-compartment design. The storage capacity is more than enough, with five zippered mesh pockets and two compression slip pockets. However, it’s not designed to hold bulky items; just smaller tech accessories, which is a bit of a bummer considering the overall size. If you need more space, opt for the large or extra-large versions.

The Details: 9.72 x 5.82 x 2.55 inches | 0.31 ounces | EVA | Water-resistant

Tips for Buying a Travel Tech Organizer

Know what items you need to store.

Take stock of your tech items to make sure your desired tech organizer has the capacity and capability to hold what you need it to. This is particularly important if you’ve got a bulky item or two, or if the majority of your stuff is small and easy to lose. If you’re having trouble finding an organizer that fits your needs, consider what your basic essentials are and what might be able to be safely and securely packed elsewhere. You’ll also want to consider where you’ll be packing the organizer to make sure it’ll fit in your bag while still giving you room to pack anything else you need.

Consider durability and water resistance

Are you a frequent traveler or just preparing for a one-off trip? Frequent travelers will want to pay more attention to the durability of their tech organizer than someone who won’t be using the product repeatedly over a short period of time. Budget-friendly doesn’t always mean poorly-made, as you’ll see with our picks, and products with a higher price point may not deliver when it comes to key things like water resistance. Leather looks great and can look even better over time, but it’s easily ruined by scrapes and exposure to liquid. On the flip side, ripstop material like 600D polyester or EVA won’t look as luxurious but will last much longer and provide better protection against bumps, drops, and spills. Also, consider the quality of your organizer's zipper. This is an oft-overlooked detail that can make or break how much use you can get out of a product. Once the zipper breaks, it’s usually game over.

Storing your tech in one spot while traveling helps you to keep track of it, especially the smaller pieces, while you’re away from home. Using a storage option with built-in organization keeps your sanity. Tossing your essentials into a single-pocket bag is convenient — until you need them, and tech organizers help to avoid the frantic fishing through your luggage for a charger or that important flash drive. They can also help keep cords from tangling, a major win and frustration saver.

Depending on the size, you can pack your travel tech organizer in your checked bag, carry-on, or personal item. However, many travelers are wary of packing anything valuable like tech in their checked luggage for fear of theft or damage, plus you’ll want to make sure there are no power banks or other devices prohibited from the cargo hold. It’s most common to bring an organizer into the cabin which also allows you to access it during your travel day as needed.

What is the Best Travel Organiser – EPIC Rundown 2024

After a few years of staying home and travelling only in our minds, borders are finally opening up for travel. There’s nothing better than setting off on an adventure, whether you’re crossing the ocean to a different continent or heading off on a backpacking trip around your home state. That being said, if you’re a seasoned traveller, you’ll know that a lot of preparation and packing goes into a trip, and it’s super important you have your possessions organised before you leave.

There are two types of packers in this world, the organised packer, and the chaotic packer. We’ve all indulged in a bit of last-minute messy packing in our time, chucking everything into a backpack unfolded and in a disorganised manner. But truly, there’s nothing worse than finding yourself at the check-in counter without knowing where your passport is or sitting on the flight wondering if you forgot to pack your toothbrush. Luckily, these experiences can only help teach us to be more organised in the future.

The easiest way to keep organised on your travels is by using a bunch of travel organiser bags, packs, and wallets to keep all your things in neat order. This way, there’s a place for everything, and you can visually see if something is missing from your packing list.

Not only do travel organisers make your life much easier when you’re packing and unpacking, but they also help you keep track of your possessions while you’re out and about on your adventure.

In this post, we’re going to highlight some of the best travel organisers for a range of adventures, from backpacks to electronics organisers, to make-up bags, to toiletry bags and everything in between. Whether you’re heading off for a local camping trip or are embarking on a worldwide adventure, there are a bunch of travel organisers on the market that will make your packing and unpacking duties less stressful.

About The Best Travel Organisers

The very best travel organisers in the world today, some more great ways to stay organised, final thoughts on the best travel organisers.

You’ll need different travel organisers depending on where you’re travelling to, how long you’re going for, and the type of trip you are taking. We don’t necessarily suggest you buy all of these organisers for one trip, but rather think about what will be most practical for you and your travel style. For example, a backpacking trip around Costa Rica will require you to pack very differently than if you were visiting Paris for Fashion Week.

The best travel organisers on the market are designed well-using quality materials and zippers. For many people, the whole point of packing well is to fit as much as you possibly can into a small space. For this reason, a good travel organiser should have practical storage compartments with optimised internal storage space for whatever they are designed to store. Some organisers even have customisable compartments, allowing you to design the internal storage space yourself.

small travel case organizer

If you’re travelling by plane or planning to lug your bag around by hand, you’ll also need to consider the bag’s weight. There’s no use being ultra-organised if you rock up to the airport with overweight luggage!

Price is also an important consideration, and you don’t want to end up spending an arm and a leg on travel organisers before you even embark on your journey. Most of the time, the highest quality products are the most expensive, but this doesn’t mean you won’t find practical and stylish travel organisers for a low price. Sometimes, it’s worth investing in a super high-quality bag if you plan on using it enough.

Shell Backpack By Tropicfeel

Tropicfeel created the Shell Backpack for the most versatile travellers. Whether you’re going on an adventurous camping trip or just a weekend away, this is the ultimate modern-day travel backpack and, without a doubt, one of the best travel organisers on the market.

While it’s called the Shell Backpack, this is much more than your ordinary shell. The main feature of the Tropicfeel Shell is its wardrobe system. This allows you to carefully organise your folded clothing into an easy-access foldable wardrobe and compress it into a tight space using the built-in compression system. With this practical technology, you’ll be able to fit in an additional 20% of clothing.

This 3-in-1 adjustable and adaptable design allows you to shift between a 22l and a 40l backpack. Expand it when you’re settled in your hostel, and contract it when you’re moving around.

The entire bag opens like a clamshell, meaning you can forget about digging your hand deep into the bag to unsuccessfully fish something out.

It also offers space to buy additional detachable accessories (such as a tech pouch, camera cube, and toiletry bag), which can be connected to the bag using magnetic Fidlock technology. This is ideal if you need a little extra space. Talking about space – there’s also a 6l expandable kangaroo pocket at the base of the bag, which is excellent for overflow items.

Of course, fitting so much into a small bag is bound to increase its weight. Luckily, Tropicfeel has thought of everything and has created a super durable and ergonomic backpack that is ultra-comfortable even when packed at full capacity. This is owing to the ergonomic back panel made from foam for lumbar support, as well as the adjustable and cushioned straps, hidden hip belt, and dual handle.

On top of all this, the Shell is weatherproof and built using sustainable fabrics and recycled materials. What more could you possibly ask for?

#2 Best Clothes Organiser – Nomatic Packing Cubes

Nomatic Packing Cube

A packing cube can be one of the most useful products and the best travel organisers for your clothes. They’re small and compact and can fit into wheeled suitcases as well as backpacks.

Packing cubes are ideal for trips where you plan to move around every few nights. Without having to unpack and repack your suitcase at each destination, you can easily decompartmentalise the contents of your case without unfolding your clothes or losing track of anything along the way.

Nomatic has a range of three packing cubes (small, medium, and large) for different sized cases, all differing in thickness. They’re built using durable materials, including high-quality zippers, and are lightweight enough not to make much of a difference to your overall bag weight.

Each packing cube is designed with a zippered compression system to help you pack 50% more than you otherwise would. The see-through mesh allows you to see what you’ve packed, making it easy to find what you’re looking for without having to open up each pack.

Want a matching bag to put it in? Check out our review of the epic Nomatic flagship backpack , also be sure to check out the Nomatic Messenger bag for keeping your passport and wallet safe.

Wandrd Tech Bag

One of the most frustrating things you can do is forget a charger cable in a wall socket during your travels. Not only are cables, cords, and plugs super pricey, but it’s also impractical not to have your device chargers on hand. Whether you work in the film or tech industry or you’re going on a short or a long trip, these pouches have been thoughtfully designed using high-quality materials for all sorts of travellers.

The best travel organisers for electronics are also designed to keep your cables in good condition, reducing the possibility of them being bent at funky angles and breaking. We’ve all had a dodgy aux cable that just ruins the vibe!

To make your life a little bit easier, WANDRD has designed the ultimate tech pouch to stash your devices and electronic accessories. The pouch comes in three sizes (small, medium, and large), each of which has a unique webbing lock and clip system on the back panel, allowing you to connect two or three bags together depending on how much tech equipment you’re carrying. These tech bags have mesh organisation pockets, as well as pen loops and cord pass-through holes.

For added convenience, the tech bags can also attach to two of WANDRD’s most popular backpacks. However, if you aren’t lucky enough to be kitted out with this brand’s backpacks, you can also use the detachable carry straps to attach your tech organisers to any other bag. They might look small, but you’ll be surprised at how much you can fit into these bags!

Fancy having a look at the WANDRD backpacks? Check out the WANDRD PRVKE 31 if you’re after an epic backpack, or check out the WANDRD PRVKE Lite if you want something smaller. Also, check out the WANDRD Detour Hip Pack for a smaller pack you could also use as an organiser.

#4 Digital Nomad Organiser – Nomad Organisers From Harber London

Harber London Nomad Organiser for iPad Pro 12 9

Harber London is known for creating quality leather products that are practical for a range of activities and uses. Suppose you’re a digital nomad exploring the world while working. In this case, you’ll want to have all your digital devices, notebooks, and stationery packed together in an organised and safe place at all times.

Harber’s broad range can carry different sized devices from iPhones to iPads to personal laptops, all bundled together with your cables, earphones, papers, and more. Made from protective and durable leather, each of Harber’s products comes in four different professional colours.

From their smallest digital nomad organiser to their biggest, each organiser comes with a range of practical sleeves, pockets, clips, and rings to hold everything you might need. Loops and rings are ideal for keeping your keys in one place, as well as organising your electronic cables so that they don’t bend and get damaged.

You can even use the organiser as a wallet, with card pouches and zipper pockets added to keep your cards and cash safe. You also won’t have to worry about your laptop slipping out, as the bags come with security fasteners to keep them safely in place. One big zipper then closes the entire bag ensuring nothing will slide out, and no outside spillage will get in.

Not only are these the best travel organisers for digital nomads, but they can even be used by office workers for everyday use.

Nomatic Toiletry Bag 2

If there’s one product on this list that you likely already have, we’d guess it was a toiletry bag. They’re a common product that helps us keep all our toiletries in one place, but they’re also super useful in case one of your products buckles under cabin pressure and explodes or leaks. If we packed our toiletries in and amongst our clothing, we would all land up with shampoo-drenched t-shirts.

The Nomatic Hanging Toiletry Bag is one of the best travel organizers in the business because of its hanging straps and internal organisational layout. Have you ever arrived at a hotel or hostel to realise the bathroom has no counter space to lay out all your things? Well, simply attach this bag to a hanger, the shower pole, or the door handle in your bathroom for easy access to your toiletries at any time.

This bag comes in small and regular sizes and is designed with a minimalistic style and slim profile, making it easy to pack into your suitcase or backpack. The bags are built using durable waterproof materials to ensure any leaks are contained (both from internal spills and outdoor weather!)

The Hanging Toiletry Bag is made up of a bunch of mesh compartments, making it easy to compartmentalize your products and see what is where at all times. There is even a dedicated toothbrush holder where you can stash your toothbrush and keep it clean.

Want to know more? We’ve only gone and done a full review of the Nomatic Toiletry Bag !

Harber London Super Slim Passport Wallet

We’ve all felt our hearts sink when we think we’ve misplaced a passport, card, or money while travelling, so keeping your travel documents safe is a top priority for any global traveller. Harber London has designed a simple and ultra-sleek leather document pouch to keep your passport, travel cards, and cash safe and in one place.

The ultimate goal of this passport wallet is to eliminate bulky pockets. Without this nifty wallet, you’ll have to store your passports separately from your cards and money, making for an uncomfortably chunky pocket.

The organiser can hold between one and two passports, many boarding passes and receipts, and up to four cards. The interior is made from a soft wool lining, which helps prevent your documents from getting scratched or damaged along your journey.

Monarc Settra Duffel Backpack

If you’re looking for the best travel organiser to take with you as carry-on luggage , look no further. The Monarc Settra duffel is basically six bags in one, making it one of the most versatile bags on our list.

This dual function bag can be used as either a duffel bag or a backpack and is TSA-approved for carrying with you in an aeroplane cabin. The Settra comes in a grey or a black colour and includes five accessory bags that seamlessly fit into them.

Firstly, there’s a large and a medium compression pack to store your clothing. Secondly, the bag includes a laundry pack which can double as a fashionable tote bag for daily use. You can even use this bag for groceries!

Third, there’s a super practical camera cube with adjustable and removable section dividers. Design your own camera pack interior depending on the model camera you have, or remove the dividers entirely and use the cube for something else!

Fourth, you can make use of the tech pack to store all your devices, cords and cables, drives, journals, and pens. This section is even large enough to store an iPad Mini. There’s also a laptop pocket in the main bag which is large enough to store a 17-inch laptop.

Comfort is key when you’re backpacking, and while other duffel backpacks are typically less comfortable than traditional backpacks, the Monarc Settra has air mesh padding at the back to provide comfort and breathability.

Not only is it super functional and spacious, but it’s also made using 50 recycled plastic bottles and water-resistant fabric that is ethically sewn. Labelled the world’s first certified plastic negative bag, you can rest assured you’re doing your part for the planet when buying this bag. If recycled, eco-friendly products are important to you, we definitely suggest you check out one of our favorite Earth-conscious boot brands, Vivobarefoot.

A good travel organiser can make all the difference in your travel experience by allowing you to keep track of your possessions when you pack, during your travels and when you unpack.

That being said, there are endless travel organisers on the market, suitable for a range of needs and personal styles. A general Google can leave you feeling overwhelmed and confused, so it’s important that you know what you want from your travel organizer before you look into buying one. The best travel organisers for you depend on your destination, bag weight limit, and the type of trip you’re taking.

Aside from the weight, size, and practical aspects of a travel organiser, you’ll need to consider the price and quality of the product. In our opinion, it’s always better to invest in the best quality product that you can afford at the time, so it won’t break or fail you during your trip. This way, you’ll be splurging now to save later.

Preparation is vital when you’re travelling, and being underprepared or disorganised can lead to a whole lot worse than having to buy some new toiletries. So, we hope this list of the top thirteen travel organisers has helped you clarify the type of organiser you think you need.

These days, savvy adventurers take much more than sunscreen and a passport when traveling. To stay connected while you are away, cell phones, tablets, and even laptops are becoming must-have accessories for travelers. Travel cameras are also becoming a part of an essential traveler’s kit. This means lots of cables and accessories to keep organized.

Keeping your electronics safe and organized makes it much easier to carry these items with you, and for this reason, a well-designed organizer is worth its weight in gold.

What To Look for in an Electronic Travel Organizer

Before you invest in an organizer for your electronics, consider the following:

Cable organizer size

The organizer you choose should be a useful addition to your luggage. If it is bulky, heavy, or simply unsuitable, forget about it. The more gear you have, the larger the organizer you will need. While not particularly heavy on their own, organizers stuffed full of devices, chargers, and other accessories can weigh your travel backpack down before you’ve even left for your trip.

Bottom Line: Choose an organizer that is large enough to carry everything you need, but not so big that it has wasted space in it.

Cable organizer pockets

Designed with one job in mind, to keep your gear organized while you travel, the number of pockets and compartments your organizer offers should align with the amount of equipment you need to carry.

Most of the better electronics organizers will have a decent amount of pockets, slings, and holders that are designed to carry SD cards, cables, batteries, adapters , headphones , and other necessities, and may even have dedicated spaces for your passport or boarding cards, too.

Bottom Line: While pockets are essential, you shouldn’t have so many that you can’t shut the organizer, or make it so bulky that it won’t fit in your travel backpack. Take only what you need with you, and find an organizer that will keep it safe and tidy.

Cable organizer material

You would choose a new backpack or suitcase with longevity in mind, so you should apply the same rigorous standards when looking for an electronic travel organizer. Organizers come in a variety of materials, including canvas, leather, nylon, and even plastic, and it’s your choice as to which one you prefer.

Bottom Line: Choose a material that has water-resistant qualities to keep your gear protected from spills or bad weather, and that is strong enough to avoid rips or tears, but lightweight enough to not weigh you down.

This $6 Amazon Essential Keeps My Medications and Vitamins Organized When I Travel

By Meaghan Kenny

A collage.

All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

The one essential I keep in my carry-on no matter where I'm headed or for how long: a travel pill case from Amazon. The best travel pill cases are compact, secure, and easy to open on the go, and mine checks all the boxes.

I used to bring the entire bottle of my daily medication in my carry-on and put loose vitamins in a plastic seal top bag—needless to say, this wasn't the best use of space (or single-use plastic). A year ago, I purchased a $6 travel pill case to save some packing room , stay more organized, and have something I could reuse trip after trip . Since then, it's been a packing non-negotiable for me and has made taking my medications, vitamins, and supplements while I'm traveling easier than ever.

small travel case organizer

It's nearly impossible to stick to your normal routine when traveling. While I don't mind missing a few workouts or healthy meals on the road, I do want to stay on top of taking my supplements and vitamins every day. This sleek, portable case has eight separate compartments that hold everything I need for a week's vacation in one place and make it easy to track what I'm taking. It features two separate sections: One side with six small chambers for storing daily pills and a second side with two larger chambers that holds capsules and vitamins. Having a pill case with compartments of varied size makes it easy to pack as many pills as you need and organize them however you'd like. I use the smaller chambers for my daily allergy pills and the larger chambers to store emergency essentials that I like to have on hand, like Advil ,   Benadryl , and Tums .

The size of this travel pill organizer is perfect for most trips I take. The compartments are spacious enough to hold at least a week's worth of pills, but the case is still compact enough to fit in my Dopp kit (for reference, it's smaller than an iPhone). I've packed this pill organizer on numerous trips and it's never opened while in transit or spilled any of my items. To secure each chamber, simply snap the plastic top down. After filling the compartments with your medication, snap the two sides of the case together and toss it in your carry-on .

Something I love about this travel pill case compared to others on the market is its sleek design. When it's closed, no one would ever know you have a week's worth of supplements on hand. And of course, the price is right. This $6 travel essential from Amazon has accompanied me on short weekend getaways to the Catskills , a 10-day European cruise , and countless business trips —and I plan to bring it with me wherever I'm headed next.

If you're worried about carrying a pill case through airport security, rest assured that travelers are allowed to bring their prescription medications and over-the-counter supplements with them. TSA allows travelers to bring medication in pill or solid form in carry-ons and checked baggage—so you can bring your pill case no matter what bag you're packing.

While I love traveling with this case, there are plenty of great options on the market with high ratings and glowing reviews. Below, a few more of the best travel pill cases that we recommend bringing on your next getaway.

More travel pill cases we recommend:

If you're looking for an everyday pill box that will keep you on track or are headed on a two-week vacation, this one's for you.

2018 Primetime Emmy & James Beard Award Winner

In Transit: Notes from the Underground

Jun 06 2018.

Spend some time in one of Moscow’s finest museums.

Subterranean commuting might not be anyone’s idea of a good time, but even in a city packing the war-games treasures and priceless bejeweled eggs of the Kremlin Armoury and the colossal Soviet pavilions of the VDNKh , the Metro holds up as one of Moscow’s finest museums. Just avoid rush hour.

The Metro is stunning and provides an unrivaled insight into the city’s psyche, past and present, but it also happens to be the best way to get around. Moscow has Uber, and the Russian version called Yandex Taxi , but also some nasty traffic. Metro trains come around every 90 seconds or so, at a more than 99 percent on-time rate. It’s also reasonably priced, with a single ride at 55 cents (and cheaper in bulk). From history to tickets to rules — official and not — here’s what you need to know to get started.

A Brief Introduction Buying Tickets Know Before You Go (Down) Rules An Easy Tour

A Brief Introduction

Moscow’s Metro was a long time coming. Plans for rapid transit to relieve the city’s beleaguered tram system date back to the Imperial era, but a couple of wars and a revolution held up its development. Stalin revived it as part of his grand plan to modernize the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 30s. The first lines and tunnels were constructed with help from engineers from the London Underground, although Stalin’s secret police decided that they had learned too much about Moscow’s layout and had them arrested on espionage charges and deported.

The beauty of its stations (if not its trains) is well-documented, and certainly no accident. In its illustrious first phases and particularly after the Second World War, the greatest architects of Soviet era were recruited to create gleaming temples celebrating the Revolution, the USSR, and the war triumph. No two stations are exactly alike, and each of the classic showpieces has a theme. There are world-famous shrines to Futurist architecture, a celebration of electricity, tributes to individuals and regions of the former Soviet Union. Each marble slab, mosaic tile, or light fixture was placed with intent, all in service to a station’s aesthetic; each element, f rom the smallest brass ear of corn to a large blood-spattered sword on a World War II mural, is an essential part of the whole.

small travel case organizer

The Metro is a monument to the Soviet propaganda project it was intended to be when it opened in 1935 with the slogan “Building a Palace for the People”. It brought the grand interiors of Imperial Russia to ordinary Muscovites, celebrated the Soviet Union’s past achievements while promising its citizens a bright Soviet future, and of course, it was a show-piece for the world to witness the might and sophistication of life in the Soviet Union.

It may be a museum, but it’s no relic. U p to nine million people use it daily, more than the London Underground and New York Subway combined. (Along with, at one time, about 20 stray dogs that learned to commute on the Metro.)

In its 80+ year history, the Metro has expanded in phases and fits and starts, in step with the fortunes of Moscow and Russia. Now, partly in preparation for the World Cup 2018, it’s also modernizing. New trains allow passengers to walk the entire length of the train without having to change carriages. The system is becoming more visitor-friendly. (There are helpful stickers on the floor marking out the best selfie spots .) But there’s a price to modernity: it’s phasing out one of its beloved institutions, the escalator attendants. Often they are middle-aged or elderly women—“ escalator grandmas ” in news accounts—who have held the post for decades, sitting in their tiny kiosks, scolding commuters for bad escalator etiquette or even bad posture, or telling jokes . They are slated to be replaced, when at all, by members of the escalator maintenance staff.

For all its achievements, the Metro lags behind Moscow’s above-ground growth, as Russia’s capital sprawls ever outwards, generating some of the world’s worst traffic jams . But since 2011, the Metro has been in the middle of an ambitious and long-overdue enlargement; 60 new stations are opening by 2020. If all goes to plan, the 2011-2020 period will have brought 125 miles of new tracks and over 100 new stations — a 40 percent increase — the fastest and largest expansion phase in any period in the Metro’s history.

Buying Tickets

  • Ticket machines have a button to switch to English.
  • You can buy specific numbers of rides: 1, 2, 5, 11, 20, or 60. Hold up fingers to show how many rides you want to buy.
  • There is also a 90-minute ticket , which gets you 1 trip on the metro plus an unlimited number of transfers on other transport (bus, tram, etc) within 90 minutes.
  • Or, you can buy day tickets with unlimited rides: one day (218₽/ US$4), three days (415₽/US$7) or seven days (830₽/US$15). Check the rates here to stay up-to-date.
  • If you’re going to be using the Metro regularly over a few days, it’s worth getting a Troika card , a contactless, refillable card you can use on all public transport. Using the Metro is cheaper with one of these: a single ride is 36₽, not 55₽. Buy them and refill them in the Metro stations, and they’re valid for 5 years, so you can keep it for next time. Or, if you have a lot of cash left on it when you leave, you can get it refunded at the Metro Service Centers at Ulitsa 1905 Goda, 25 or at Staraya Basmannaya 20, Building 1.
  • You can also buy silicone bracelets and keychains with built-in transport chips that you can use as a Troika card. (A Moscow Metro Fitbit!) So far, you can only get these at the Pushkinskaya metro station Live Helpdesk and souvenir shops in the Mayakovskaya and Trubnaya metro stations. The fare is the same as for the Troika card.
  • You can also use Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.

Rules, spoken and unspoken

No smoking, no drinking, no filming, no littering. Photography is allowed, although it used to be banned.

Stand to the right on the escalator. Break this rule and you risk the wrath of the legendary escalator attendants. (No shenanigans on the escalators in general.)

Get out of the way. Find an empty corner to hide in when you get off a train and need to stare at your phone. Watch out getting out of the train in general; when your train doors open, people tend to appear from nowhere or from behind ornate marble columns, walking full-speed.

Always offer your seat to elderly ladies (what are you, a monster?).

An Easy Tour

This is no Metro Marathon ( 199 stations in 20 hours ). It’s an easy tour, taking in most—though not all—of the notable stations, the bulk of it going clockwise along the Circle line, with a couple of short detours. These stations are within minutes of one another, and the whole tour should take about 1-2 hours.

Start at Mayakovskaya Metro station , at the corner of Tverskaya and Garden Ring,  Triumfalnaya Square, Moskva, Russia, 125047.

1. Mayakovskaya.  Named for Russian Futurist Movement poet Vladimir Mayakovsky and an attempt to bring to life the future he imagined in his poems. (The Futurist Movement, natch, was all about a rejecting the past and celebrating all things speed, industry, modern machines, youth, modernity.) The result: an Art Deco masterpiece that won the National Grand Prix for architecture at the New York World’s Fair in 1939. It’s all smooth, rounded shine and light, and gentle arches supported by columns of dark pink marble and stainless aircraft steel. Each of its 34 ceiling niches has a mosaic. During World War II, the station was used as an air-raid shelter and, at one point, a bunker for Stalin. He gave a subdued but rousing speech here in Nov. 6, 1941 as the Nazis bombed the city above.

Take the 3/Green line one station to:

2. Belorusskaya. Opened in 1952, named after the connected Belarussky Rail Terminal, which runs trains between Moscow and Belarus. This is a light marble affair with a white, cake-like ceiling, lined with Belorussian patterns and 12 Florentine ceiling mosaics depicting life in Belarussia when it was built.

Transfer onto the 1/Brown line. Then, one stop (clockwise) t o:

3. Novoslobodskaya.  This station was designed around the stained-glass panels, which were made in Latvia, because Alexey Dushkin, the Soviet starchitect who dreamed it up (and also designed Mayakovskaya station) couldn’t find the glass and craft locally. The stained glass is the same used for Riga’s Cathedral, and the panels feature plants, flowers, members of the Soviet intelligentsia (musician, artist, architect) and geometric shapes.

Go two stops east on the 1/Circle line to:

4. Komsomolskaya. Named after the Komsomol, or the Young Communist League, this might just be peak Stalin Metro style. Underneath the hub for three regional railways, it was intended to be a grand gateway to Moscow and is today its busiest station. It has chandeliers; a yellow ceiling with Baroque embellishments; and in the main hall, a colossal red star overlaid on golden, shimmering tiles. Designer Alexey Shchusev designed it as an homage to the speech Stalin gave at Red Square on Nov. 7, 1941, in which he invoked Russia’s illustrious military leaders as a pep talk to Soviet soldiers through the first catastrophic year of the war.   The station’s eight large mosaics are of the leaders referenced in the speech, such as Alexander Nevsky, a 13th-century prince and military commander who bested German and Swedish invading armies.

One more stop clockwise to Kurskaya station,  and change onto the 3/Blue  line, and go one stop to:

5. Baumanskaya.   Opened in 1944. Named for the Bolshevik Revolutionary Nikolai Bauman , whose monument and namesake district are aboveground here. Though he seemed like a nasty piece of work (he apparently once publicly mocked a woman he had impregnated, who later hung herself), he became a Revolutionary martyr when he was killed in 1905 in a skirmish with a monarchist, who hit him on the head with part of a steel pipe. The station is in Art Deco style with atmospherically dim lighting, and a series of bronze sculptures of soldiers and homefront heroes during the War. At one end, there is a large mosaic portrait of Lenin.

Stay on that train direction one more east to:

6. Elektrozavodskaya. As you may have guessed from the name, this station is the Metro’s tribute to all thing electrical, built in 1944 and named after a nearby lightbulb factory. It has marble bas-relief sculptures of important figures in electrical engineering, and others illustrating the Soviet Union’s war-time struggles at home. The ceiling’s recurring rows of circular lamps give the station’s main tunnel a comforting glow, and a pleasing visual effect.

Double back two stops to Kurskaya station , and change back to the 1/Circle line. Sit tight for six stations to:

7. Kiyevskaya. This was the last station on the Circle line to be built, in 1954, completed under Nikita Khrushchev’ s guidance, as a tribute to his homeland, Ukraine. Its three large station halls feature images celebrating Ukraine’s contributions to the Soviet Union and Russo-Ukrainian unity, depicting musicians, textile-working, soldiers, farmers. (One hall has frescoes, one mosaics, and the third murals.) Shortly after it was completed, Khrushchev condemned the architectural excesses and unnecessary luxury of the Stalin era, which ushered in an epoch of more austere Metro stations. According to the legend at least, he timed the policy in part to ensure no Metro station built after could outshine Kiyevskaya.

Change to the 3/Blue line and go one stop west.

8. Park Pobedy. This is the deepest station on the Metro, with one of the world’s longest escalators, at 413 feet. If you stand still, the escalator ride to the surface takes about three minutes .) Opened in 2003 at Victory Park, the station celebrates two of Russia’s great military victories. Each end has a mural by Georgian artist Zurab Tsereteli, who also designed the “ Good Defeats Evil ” statue at the UN headquarters in New York. One mural depicts the Russian generals’ victory over the French in 1812 and the other, the German surrender of 1945. The latter is particularly striking; equal parts dramatic, triumphant, and gruesome. To the side, Red Army soldiers trample Nazi flags, and if you look closely there’s some blood spatter among the detail. Still, the biggest impressions here are the marble shine of the chessboard floor pattern and the pleasingly geometric effect if you view from one end to the other.

small travel case organizer

Keep going one more stop west to:

9. Slavyansky Bulvar.  One of the Metro’s youngest stations, it opened in 2008. With far higher ceilings than many other stations—which tend to have covered central tunnels on the platforms—it has an “open-air” feel (or as close to it as you can get, one hundred feet under). It’s an homage to French architect Hector Guimard, he of the Art Nouveau entrances for the Paris M é tro, and that’s precisely what this looks like: A Moscow homage to the Paris M é tro, with an additional forest theme. A Cyrillic twist on Guimard’s Metro-style lettering over the benches, furnished with t rees and branch motifs, including creeping vines as towering lamp-posts.

small travel case organizer

Stay on the 3/Blue line and double back four stations to:

10. Arbatskaya. Its first iteration, Arbatskaya-Smolenskaya station, was damaged by German bombs in 1941. It was rebuilt in 1953, and designed to double as a bomb shelter in the event of nuclear war, although unusually for stations built in the post-war phase, this one doesn’t have a war theme. It may also be one of the system’s most elegant: Baroque, but toned down a little, with red marble floors and white ceilings with gilded bronze c handeliers.

small travel case organizer

Jump back on the 3/Blue line  in the same direction and take it one more stop:

11. Ploshchad Revolyutsii (Revolution Square). Opened in 1938, and serving Red Square and the Kremlin . Its renowned central hall has marble columns flanked by 76 bronze statues of Soviet heroes: soldiers, students, farmers, athletes, writers, parents. Some of these statues’ appendages have a yellow sheen from decades of Moscow’s commuters rubbing them for good luck. Among the most popular for a superstitious walk-by rub: the snout of a frontier guard’s dog, a soldier’s gun (where the touch of millions of human hands have tapered the gun barrel into a fine, pointy blade), a baby’s foot, and a woman’s knee. (A brass rooster also sports the telltale gold sheen, though I am told that rubbing the rooster is thought to bring bad luck. )

Now take the escalator up, and get some fresh air.
