Stevie Nicks Returns to Live Performing at New Orleans Jazz Fest

Stevie Nicks took the stage for the first time in more than two years when she delivered a headlining set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 7.

The acclaimed songstress opened her set with “Outside the Rain,” a fan favorite track from her 1981 debut solo album Bella Donna . From there, Nicks rolled directly into Fleetwood Mac ’s classic hit “Dreams” -- her first time performing the song since it received renewed worldwide interest following a 2020 viral video .

The rest of the set rolled out in similar fashion, as Nicks delved into material from her solo career, as well as the Fleetwood Mac catalog. Highlights included such iconic hits as “Rhiannon,” “Gold Dust Woman” and “Edge of Seventeen.” A rendition of “Landslide” was dedicated to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins , who died in March. Nicks also delivered covers of Tom Petty ’s “Free Fallin’” and Led Zeppelin ’s “Rock and Roll” during her performance.

Prior to the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Nicks’ last performance was Jan. 17, 2020 in La Quinta, Calif. During her set, Nicks joked that she'd been “watching miniseries and wearing comfy pants and teaching my dog to shake hands” during the downtime.

The singer had been scheduled to play a handful of dates in 2021, but canceled out of an abundance of caution.

“While I’m vaccinated, at my age I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the five performances I had planned for 2021,” she announced at the time. “These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made. I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us.”

Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Nicks is extending her 2023 shows into 2024 and adding seven additional shows, including New Orleans.

Nicks will play at the Smoothie King Center on Feb. 28, 2024.

New Orleans showed nothing but love for Stevie Nicks on Wednesday night – and Nicks showed it back!

As promised, Stevie Nicks delivered a ‘funky fabulous party’ of a concert Wednesday night at the Smoothie King Center.

There are no words in the human language that can describe what it feels like to watch Vanessa Carlton perform her 2002 hit, “A Thousand Miles” live. And although that was one of the highlights of her set for me, she is much more than her twenty-year-old tracks. From her electric piano work to her magnetic vocals to her profound lyrics, Carlton captivated the crowd during her 30-minute-long set.

The Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter walked onto the stage and the first words out of her mouth were, “I’m here, pinch me” before going into her first song, “Carousel.” She prefaced each song with commentary that gave a glimpse into how each one came to fruition. It’s worth getting to the venue early for the warnings of red flags, the backstory of her nickname ‘Miss Vanilla’, and how MTV censored her in 2004 (and hearing some deep cuts because who doesn’t like to be put onto new music.)

She and her band opened with “Outside the Rain,” from Nicks’s album Bella Donna before taking the crowd into one of Fleetwood Mac’s most iconic tracks, “Dreams.” 

“I started [the tour] in New Orleans…almost two years ago. That was our first show of this entire tour. I thought it was gonna be like maybe a year, it’s still going,” Stevie Nicks afterword. Nicks performed at the 2022 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. She was scheduled to return to the Big Easy in April 2023 but the show was postponed and then later canceled due to a COVID-19 infection among her touring group. Ten months later, Nicks made it back and it was worth the wait! The two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and one of Rolling Stones’ 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, Stevie Nicks, graced the city on Wednesday night with an unforgettable show. 

Dressed in all black, the 75-year-old singer-songwriter was joined on stage by a six-piece band and two singers. For over two hours, she performed a mix of her solo hits and songs from her time with Fleetwood Mac from “Rhiannon” to “Edge of Seventeen” to “Soldier’s Girl.” She even included a few covers including Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” and Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.” 

We took a trip down memory lane as Nicks shared stories about her life – from how she and Tom Petty’s collaboration, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” came to be to writing Fleetwood Mac’s hit “Gypsy” during a time in the 70s when she needed to find herself and stay grounded. The nostalgic storytelling gave fans a glimpse into how the musical legend created some of their favorite songs.

Throughout the night, she also had some quick outfit changes where she would throw on colorful shawls that were tied to the songs she was performing. For example, she wore the original royal blue ‘Bella Donna’ cape and a shimmering black and gold one that was tied to her song, “Stand Back.”

One of the highlights (and you had to be there moments) was when Nicks performed “New Orleans” in New Orleans. Another was Nicks not being afraid to use her platform to encourage attendees to call leaders in Washington and ask for money to be sent to Ukraine to help stop Putin’s mission. And the most heartfelt moment of them all was her dedication to the late Christine McVie during her performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Nicks was very open about her grieving process and how running to the stage has helped her through one of the greatest losses she’ll ever experience. It’s true what they say, music can heal and her fans have helped heal her soul. 

If Stevie Nicks is ever in a city near you, don’t hesitate. Buy the ticket. It’s not every day you have the chance to witness greatness live – and even at 75 years, she hasn’t lost her touch!

Stevie Nicks to stop in New Orleans during 2024 tour

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — This is not a “Dream,” the “Gypsy” is coming to town!

Singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks is coming to New Orleans in 2024. Nick’s is bringing her latest tour to the Smoothie King Center on Feb. 28.

The general tour tickets for the show are set to go on sale on Sept. 29 and can be purchased on the Ticketmaster website .

Ticketmaster will allow fans to set a reminder for ticket sales so that they can “Go Your Own way” to see the “Gold Dust Woman.”

And if you miss it, you will find yourself in a “Whole Lotta Trouble.”

Stevie Nicks will return to the stage for a run of 14 solo shows this spring.

The trek will kick off March 15 at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, with the first leg wrapping April 5 at the Legacy Arena at BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama. Nicks will return May 12 — at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina — for another run of gigs that will wrap June 27 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Stevie Nicks recently cancelled her show at the last minute due to an “illness in the band,” as per a statement shared on her social media accounts.

The statement read: “Regrettably, due to illness in the band, tonight’s performance is being postponed. Please hold on to your tickets. A new date will be announced soon.” The announcement was originally shared by Hershey Entertainment Venues, the account for the Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania where the ‘Rhiannon’ singer was set to perform this past Saturday (June 15).

The statement was then uploaded to Nicks’ social media accounts including her IG stories, Facebook and X/Twitter account. Her show that was supposed to take place this past weekend was part of her ongoing tour across North America.

The rock icon’s next show is set to take place tomorrow (June 18) at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids and then at Soldier Field in Chicago. Fleetwood Mac frontwoman and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Nicks recently announced that her Van Andel Arena concert — originally scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, June 18 — is now to take place in September. The star has cited an illness within the band as the reason for postponing, and was also unable to take the stage in Pennsylvania last Saturday. The legendary “Dreams,” “Rhiannon,” and “Edge of Seventeen” singer, however, has not yet canceled or rescheduled her Friday, June 21 show with Billy Joel at Chicago’s Soldier Field .

Stevie Nicks is to return to Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday, September 24, and existing Van Andel tickets will be valid for the new tour date. For those now able to attend the show due to postponement, reserve now on sites like Vivid Seats , SeatGeek , StubHub , and Ticketmaster .

Stevie Nicks had to cancel her concert Saturday night (June 15) at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania, because of “illness in the band,” according to a brief statement shared on the singer’s official social media accounts.

The rock icon and vocalist for Fleetwood Mac , 76, was expected to take the stage Saturday night at the latest stop on her ongoing Live in Concert Tour across the U.S.

Stevie Nicks Soars Through a Night of Songs & Stories at Mohegan Sun: 5 Best Moments

Nicks’ performance was postponed just hours before showtime.

In posts on social media, fans reported the show was canceled around the time doors were set to open, when they were already in line to enter the concert grounds. A video posted by a concertgoer in the comments of the announcement indicated soundcheck happened Saturday afternoon.

As of Sunday (June 16), Nicks’ published schedule has her performing on June 18 in Grand Rapids and June 21 in Chicago. What follows is a short break in her itinerary until July 3, when she’s set to jet to Europe for a gig in Dublin, Ireland. U.K. dates come next (Glasgow, Manchester and London), then stops in Antwerp, Belgium, and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Last weekend Billboard saw Nicks and her touring band put on a lively show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, with a 15-song setlist spanning solo hits and classics from Fleetwood Mac’s discography, complemented with plenty of career anecdotes told between songs. “My stories are starting to become as long as the show,” the star joked during her June 9 performance.

Hersheypark announces rescheduled date for Stevie Nicks concert

The Stevie Nicks concert originally scheduled for Saturday night in the Hersheypark Stadium has been rescheduled out into the fall for ticket holders still looking to attend.

The concert will now occur on Sept. 28, according to Hersheypark Stadium’s Facebook page.

Previously purchased tickets will still be valid for the new concert date, Hersheypark Stadium said.

Doors were originally intended to open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, but at around that time, Hersheypark Stadium announced on its Facebook page the concert would be canceled due to an illness in the band .

Fans took to social media to express frustrations with the postponement.

“Super cool that I spent $600 and drove 2 hours for them to cancel/postpone and find out 30 min before the show as I’m trying to find parking,” said one comment.

“Drove 8 hours for this show and see it as we are pulling in,” said another. “What a waste.”

However, many others, while also disappointed, spoke up for those who made the difficult decision to postpone.

“I understand people being frustrated, especially those that traveled far and paid for rooms and all,” said one comment. “But, you can’t plan when someone has a heart attack, or a stroke or some major medical emergency. I don’t know the specifics, of course, but Stevie is a consummate professional who wouldn’t do this on a whim.”
