Thundamentals announce 2023 tour with Horrorshow’s Solo replacing Tuka
Founding member Tuka announced his departure from the hip-hop group earlier this month
Australian hip-hop crew Thundamentals have announced a 2023 tour in support of sixth studio album ‘All This Life’, which was released last Friday (November 11).
The news comes a little over a week after founding member Tuka revealed he would be stepping back from the group , and would not be performing live as part of Thundamentals for “the foreseeable future”.
Nevertheless, the group will head out on the road in January and February next year, with remaining members Jeswon (Jesse Ferris) and Morgs (Morgan Jones) joined by MC Solo from Horrorshow . Solo will be pulling double duties for the run, with Horrorshow also supporting on each of the dates. The project is currently a solo endeavour, after longtime Horrorshow producer Adit announced his departure earlier this year .
Thundamentals’ ‘All This Life’ tour will kick off January 13 at Tanks Art Centre in Cairns, with dates in Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle, Wollongong and Canberra that month. The tour will pick back up again in February with shows in Melbourne, Torquay and Newcastle, wrapping up at the Metro Theatre in Sydney on February 18. See dates and venues below – tickets are on sale tomorrow (November 16) at 10am.
Tuka – real name Brendan Tuckerman – announced his plans to take “a step back from being such a visible member” of Thundamentals via social media on November 7. “After more than 15 years of extensive touring, I’ve decided to focus my energy on my songwriting and personal/family life,” the rapper said in a statement.
In their own statement, Jeswon and Morgs said they “absolutely support [Tuka’’s] decision”. The duo added: “Our priority is the happiness and well-being of everyone in the band… We will miss [Tuka’s] vibe and energy when performing, no doubt.”
At the time, Tuka urged fans to “to come out and support Morgs and Jes who I’m certain will still put on an amazing live show”. The duo admitted that “it will obviously be a different experience”, but promised fans they “will still be getting a heartfelt, dynamic live representation of the songs you know and love”.

Thundamentals, horrorshow, guest (tbc)..
Thundamentals are back with a brand-new album, ALL THIS LIFE, and the stellar singles, TOP OF THE WORLD and LIFTED UP.
ALL THIS LIFE is a celebration of the goodness in life. Acting as a beacon of light in dark days, it aims to leave listeners with a sense of hope and elation in times of uncertainty.
Sonically, the group’s sixth album could be considered a fresh direction for Thundamentals, but it’s one they took organically. Inspiration was drawn from childhood favourites from outside of their Hip Hop roots – iconic ‘60s rock idols like David Bowie and The Doors to the raw expression of ‘90s bands like Nirvana and Faith No More, laid the foundations for an album that mixes nostalgic sounds with modern techniques while still incorporating their origins in Hip Hop and R&B culture.
The band recently announced that founding member Tuka, whilst still an integral member of the band, won’t be part of Thundas’ ALL THIS LIFE national tour and in a move that has the full support of fellow band members Jesse and Morgs, will focus his energy on his song writing and personal/family life.
In exciting news for the tour, Thundas will be joined and supported by special guest & lead vocalist of Horrorshow, Solo – for the first time, joining the Thundamentals set for these very special shows.
Thundamentals fans, get ready to immerse yourself in this amazing new music, showcasing ALL THIS LIFE on the live stage for the first time, along with the band’s much-loved hits and fan favourites.

THUNDAMENTALS New Album ‘ALL THIS LIFE’ Out Now – 2023 National Tour Confirmed, With Special Guest HORRORSHOW
Thundamentals have released their highly anticipated sixth studio album All This Life, featuring singles Top Of The World and Lifted Up , and are pumped to announce a national tour for January and February 2023 .
With over a decade in the game, Thundamentals’ journey has been one of triumph and growth. From selling out shows in all corners of the country racking up millions of streams worldwide and landing multiple platinum and gold singles, Tuka, Jeswon and Morgs have consistently pushed Thundamentals to new heights, standing tall as one of the most notable names in homegrown hip-hop.
The band has just announced that founding member Tuka, whilst still an integral member of the band, won’t be part of Thundas’ All This Life national tour and in a move that has the full support of fellow band members Jesse and Morgs, will focus his energy on his songwriting and personal / family life.
In exciting news for the tour, Thundas will be joined and supported by special guest and lead vocalist of Horrorshow, Solo – he will be joining the Thundamentals set for these very special shows!
Like so many of us, Thundamentals went through an immense period of growth during the global pandemic. An uncertain future was lingering, and the group were unable to connect with fans at live shows as they had done so frequently throughout their career. Forced to reconsider their approach, they began to write constantly—at times, in person and at others virtually. At first, there was no particular goal in mind beyond pure escapism and maintaining a connection, but as the months went on the realisation set in that regardless of the physical limitations, there was still a lot of life happening.
Thundamentals’ sixth album All This Life came about from these conversations. The project represents a rise against adversity and a celebration of the goodness in life. Acting as a beacon of light in dark times, All This Life aims to leave listeners with a sense of hope and uplift them in times of uncertainty.
Sonically, the album could be considered a fresh direction for Thundamentals, but it’s one they took organically. Having been thrust into new circumstances with a newfound appreciation for life and creating also led to inspiration being drawn from childhood favourites from outside of their traditionally hip hop roots—iconic ‘60s rock idols like David Bowie and The Doors to the raw expression of ‘90s bands like Nirvana and Faith No More laid the foundations for an album that mixes nostalgic sounds with modern techniques while still incorporating the group’s origins in hip hop and R&B culture.
The final piece of the puzzle was collaborator Carl Dimataga, who brought his expert musicianship to the project. All This Life is a rose growing from concrete. A joyful, vibrant and uplifting body of work forged in darkness yet drenched in light. It represents not only a celebration of life itself but also the band’s position this far into their career. It’s a declaration: “We are still standing, and we have so much love and life still left to give.”
Jesse and Morgs, ably assisted by Solo from Horrorshow, will hit the road from January 13, 2023 in Cairns, before heading to Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle, Wollongong, Canberra, Melbourne, Torquay, and Newcastle, before concluding in Sydney on February 18. Audiences can look forward to hearing these new songs live for the first time, along with all the killer tunes from across the band’s lengthy career.

Thundamentals celebrating 10 years together with a huge tour
- X (formerly Twitter)
Thundamentals, one of Australia's most beloved hip hop acts are celebrating 10 years together with a massive national tour.
Announced this morning when the Thundas came through Like A Version for their take on Frank Ocean's 'Ivy', the Decade Of the Thundakat tour will see the Sydney via Blue Mountains crew embarking on an epic run of regional shows.
They'll be dipping into their decorated back catalogue, from their 2008 self-titled debut EP through to this year's ARIA and J Award nom'd Everyone We Know .
The group got to reminiscing on air this morning too. They've been recording and touring music for a decade but Thundamentals have known each other much longer.
"I think we all met at my mum's house eating raspberry slices pretty much," Morgan 'Morgs' Jones tells Ben & Liam. "We'd go skateboarding, went to high school together. We had the top score on Time Crisis 2 at the Escape Hatch [Katoomba's local videogame parlour] back in the day. Then I think we all worked at the same cafe as well and that's how we met Jesse ['Jeswon' Francis]."
Set a reminder to celebrate 10 years with MCs Tuka, Jeswon and DJ Morgs at the following dates. Joining them as national support will be Sydney rapper B Wise.
Head to the Thundas website for ticket info.

In their many years criss-crossing the nation's venues, Thundamentals have grown to earn a reputation as one of Australia's most vital live acts. Long, LONG after hanging in videogame arcades and smashing the soccer field, Thundamentals have a lot to boast about. They've shared stages with A Tribe Called Quest, Big Boi, and Macklemore, as well as playing some of the nation's biggest and best festivals.
They've dazzled at Groovin The Moo, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, and triple j's One Night Stand in Mt Isa, as well as their biggest ever sold out headline tour. And that's just in the last year alone!

10 things you didn’t know about thundamentals.
The beloved Aussie hip hop trio tell us about their maths skills, performing with a bucket side-stage, and how Frozen buggered their shot at a number one record.
Yet they reckon there’s still a lot people don’t know about them, so we challenged them to tell us 10 things – here’s what they came up with…
1. When the band first formed there were 6 members and the band was called Connect 4 (you can work out the math on that one for yourself, we did and it worked)
2. Our first songs were co-produced with good friend and Hiatus Kaiyote drummer Perrin Moss, aka Clockwork, aka Clever Austin, aka…
3. In the Sally music video it’s actually the band members in wigs acting, and not real people with mullets. (Oh really?)
4. Our song Eyes On Me was conceived on a writing trip in Vanuatu. It features the lyric ‘Awo Mi Ded’, which loosely translates to fuck me dead – a term used when you have seen someone or something you like.
5. Our first Like A Version was Matt Corby’s song Brother. It was a huge turning point in our careers. It features Ev Jones, who has a project with Morg$ under the name Jones Jnr.
6. An early film clip on a tight budget for the song Paint The Town Red was shot and directed by Kiah Roach-Turner, who has gone on to produce cult classic Australian horror films Wyrmwood, among others.
7. In 2019, we did a writing session with Baker Boy, which ended up turning into a hit song for him, Cool as Hell. Turns out he’s a legend and only good vibes in the studio with him.
8. We almost had a number-one album, but then Frozen released their soundtrack a week early and ruined our chances.
9. Jeswon did an entire five-day festival run with severe food poisoning, didn’t even think of cancelling and rocked every show as if he wasn’t sick at all (with a bucket side of stage).
10. We are on tour this Jan/Feb and are going act like teenagers and turn up once again all around the country.
