Granville island was awesome. But all the stops we saw were magnificent and educational. The Vancouver sightseeing was lovely although we did not make it to the Capilano suspension bridge. Great place to bring elderly parents. Very shady, mostly flat paths. Suspension bridge was challenging for them but overall stable to cross. My 82 year old father and 76 year old mother crossed the suspension bridge and did very well! Lots of shady paths and certain places to sit. We stayed for the raptor presentation and loved it. Tickets start at CA$59 (about $42), and participants must be at least 4 feet tall. Tours depart daily at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Vancouver Water Adventures offers a variety of boat and kayak tours.

Vancouver Foodie Tours – Granville Island Market Tour

Discover Granville Island's bustling public market, which is filled with bakeries, cheese shops, butchers and other food producers, on this two-hour guided tour. The walking tour, which hosts up to 16 participants, includes more than 20 tastings along with information about the foods and their makers. Along the way, you could sample locally produced wine, elk salami, doughnuts and maple salmon candy, among other delicious tastings. Participants say they enjoy trying the different food and learning about the history of the peninsula from knowledgeable foodie guides. Tickets cost around CA$70 (about $50) for patrons 13 and older and CA$60 (about $43) for children 12 and younger. Harbour Cruises – Vancouver Harbour Cruise

Sail through the Burrard Inlet past many of Vancouver's top landmarks during this hourlong boat excursion on an old-fashioned paddlewheeler. From the boat's open-air decks or its cozy interior, you'll see spectacular views of the Vancouver skyline, Stanley Park and the mountains. The tour is also fully narrated. For an extra treat, grab a drink from the onboard bar. Tour-takers say they enjoy the views and that the commentary is helpful. Many cruisers even spotted seals. Tours run daily at 11 a.m. and 12:15, 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. Tickets cost approximately CA$40 (about $43) for adults 18 and older, CA$35 (about $25) for children ages 12 to 17, CA$12 (about $8.50) for ages 5 to 11 and are free for those 4 and younger. Landsea Tours & Adventures – Victoria & Butchart Gardens

If you're looking for a daytrip from Vancouver, consider this 13-hour excursion with Landsea Tours & Adventures, which takes you by ferry to Victoria , British Columbia's capital. In Victoria, you'll have time to explore downtown, the Inner Harbour and the Fairmont Empress Hotel , before making your way to the 55-acre Butchart Gardens . Tourgoers say the excursion is well organized with plenty of time to spend at the gardens. Tours depart at 8 or 9 a.m., depending on the time of year. Tickets start at CA$225 (about $161) for participants 13 and older and CA$115 (around $82) for ages 3 to 12. Stanley Park's collection of totem poles is a highlight during Vancouver Bike Tours' leisurely ride around the city.

Vancouver Bike Tours – Towers & Totems

Travelers say this tour is a family-friendly way to explore the city. They also regularly describe the guides as accommodating and informative. During the 3 1/2-hour ride, you'll bike about 11 miles around Vancouver to see several key landmarks, including Stanley Park. In addition, you'll learn about the Coast Salish people and see a collection of totem poles. Tours depart daily at 9:30 a.m., and tickets cost approximately CA$65 (about $46), including the bike rental. The company also offers a Dragons & Steam tour, which rides through Chinatown.

Riders say this tour is a great way to see the city and that guides are engaging and knowledgeable. The five-hour bike tour offers riders a broad overview of the city. Highlights include cycling through Stanley Park, past the beaches of English Bay, taking the ferry to Granville Island for lunch at the market, and pedaling through Chinatown. Tickets cost approximately CA$90 (about $64) for adults 18 and older and CA$80 (about $57) for youths ages 10 to 17; prices include the cost of bike rental. For families with children younger than 10, the company asks that you schedule a private tour. Tours are available daily at 10 a.m. Though the tour lasts five hours, you'll only be riding bikes for about two hours. Cycle City also offers night tours and rides atop e-bikes.

Gray Line Westcoast Sightseeing – Vancouver City Tour + Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

An ideal option if you have a limited amount of time to sightsee, this half-day trip combines a guided city tour to sights like Chinatown, Stanley Park and the Granville Island Public Market with a visit to North Vancouver's Capilano Suspension Bridge Park . After exploring the city, you'll get to walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge and explore the surrounding temperate rainforest. Reviewers praise this tour, saying they see quite a bit of the city in five hours and that they particularly enjoy the stop at the bridge. Tickets start at CA$129 (about $92) for ages 13 and older and CA$65 (about $46) for ages 3 to 12 and includes round-trip transportation from select area hotels. Tours are available daily at noon. Discover the macabre side of Vancouver on this theatrical walking tour, which recounts tales of smallpox outbreaks, the Great Vancouver Fire, murder mysteries and other haunting stories about the city. This 90-minute outing offers great storytelling alongside plenty of Vancouver history, tourgoers say. Tours generally operate Monday through Saturday from May through November, though trips in late spring and late fall run on a limited schedule. Tours depart at 8 p.m. Tickets start at CA$29 (about $21) for adults and CA$26 (around $19) for students and seniors. The company says the tour is designed for adults only and does not recommend it for children younger than 14. Forbidden Vancouver also offers an art deco-themed tour that includes a chocolate tasting and a tour about the city's LGBT history.

A Wok Around Chinatown

Tourgoers praise A Wok Around Chinatown for its informative, kind guides and "immersive" experience. During this four-hour tour, participants will explore Chinatown to discover where local chefs shop for their foods and see area landmarks, such as the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. The tour concludes with a dim sum lunch, which travelers say is delicious. Tours operate at 10 a.m. daily, and tickets cost about CA$80 (about $57), including lunch. The company also offers a foodie tour of Granville Island.

Prince of Whales Adventures – Half-Day Whale Watching

Marine mammal experts guide this half-day excursion and share information about both humpback and orca whales throughout the five-hour catamaran cruise. Travelers regularly rave about this tour and recount multiple wildlife sightings. Tours run daily from April through early November; specific times vary depending on the month, but you can expect to depart at 8:30 a.m., noon or 2:30 p.m. Tickets start at CA$170 (about $122) for participants ages 18 and older, CA$130 (around $93) for ages 13 to 17, CA$105 (approximately $75) for ages 2 to 12 and are free for children younger than 2. In the event that you do not see whales, your next excursion is free. The company offers several other boat tours, as well as tours that combine boat rides and seaplane flights.

Vancouver Brewery Tours – Vancouver Brewery Tour

Sample a wide variety of locally made beer during this three-hour van tour. Each outing includes stops at three different breweries for facility tours and a flight of the company's beers. You'll also enjoy an introduction to the beer-making process as well as a free beer glass and a journal to record your favorite brews. Patrons rave about the beers sampled during the tour and compliment the guides on their expertise. Tickets cost about CA$85 (around $61) for those who are drinking and CA$60 (about $43) for those who are not. Prices include transportation between breweries and all beer sampled. All participants must be at least 19 years old and bring a photo ID. Tours run Wednesday at 6 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at noon and 4 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Breweries visited depend on the day and time of the tour. The company runs multiple other craft beer tours in different areas of the city as well as private tours.

Taste Vancouver Food Tours – Gastown Food Tour

Eat your way through the historic Gastown area of Vancouver on this 2 1/2-hour walking tour that's limited to just 16 participants. Indulge in a variety of foods, including pulled pork, beer-battered fish, chocolate from Canada's oldest chocolate shop and more sweet and savory delights. Tourgoers say the food is delicious and that their guides are friendly and knowledgeable. Tours run at 2 p.m. daily from June through September; excursions leave Wednesday through Sunday only October through May. Tickets start at CA$89 (about $64) per person, regardless of age. All food, plus two alcoholic beverages are included. The company also offers food tours of Little Italy and Vancouver's North Shore.

Wild Whales Vancouver

Wild Whales Vancouver takes passengers off the coast into English Bay to search for humpback and killer whales as well as other local wildlife. Trips can last anywhere from three to six hours, depending on if the boat has to travel farther from Vancouver to spot wildlife. The company says 90% of their trips see whales, but if your outing has no animal sightings your next trip is free. Travelers report seeing lots of whales and describe guides as insightful and friendly. Departure times vary depending on the season and vessel type selected; tours depart from April through October only. Tickets start at CA$150 (about $108) for participants 13 and older, CA$100 (about $72) for ages 3 to 12 and CA$30 (about $22) for ages 2 and younger.

We enjoyed our tour very much, the sights were beautiful, staff we well informed. A highlight for us was the optional evening photographic tour. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was the last day felt very rushed, especially at the Banff gondola as the queue to get on took half an hour and not enough time allocated to our lunch at the Lake Louise Chateau, we had to ask the waitress to bring out the dessert while we were eating the main as we only had 15 minutes until the bus left. Allocate a bit more time for those things and you will get five stars.

Aurora Borealis Adventure from Vancouver

Every employee we met from pick up @ the airport to drop off after our final trip to the Aurora Center was wonderful - Professional, pleasant, and friendly. Price was right! Hotel was OK. My one important critique was we got absolutely no info on the Aurora Borealis. I expected a video or “lecture” or some explanation about what we were looking for/seeing. (And, so so so very happy we saw them!!!) This was a trip specifically to see the northern lights and we heard nothing about them. I will (and have steady) recommend your tour to others but tell them to study up on the Aurora before they go. Thanks for asking!

Just returned from the 5 day Premium tour of the Rockies. What an amazing trip! We traveled in a very comfortable bus under the guidance of of our exceptional guide Richelle. Richelle was a wealth of knowledge sharing interesting information on each area we visited, we learnt so much from her about the areas we explored. The trip follows absolutely breathtaking landscapes. The accommodation choices were wonderful and it was good having this all organised, made the holiday a breeze for us . It was spectacular having breakfast organised at the top of the gondola in Banff , felt very special as well as all the other adventures Richelle took us on. Having the tour all organised for us took the stress out of us having to organise things , we had the adventure of a life time and loved every moment. Highly recommend this tour if you have limited time and want to visit as much as possible between Vancouver and Banff.

Fleet Week media tour on board HMCS Vancouver

What: Media are invited to attend a tour of HMCS Vancouver , a Halifax-class vessel, as we kick off Fleet Week to help promote the event and increase public participation. Media will be able to speak with members of the ship’s company.

When: Media are to meet at the entrance of HMCS Vancouver at 1:45 p.m. on May 2, 2024. The onboard tour will commence at 2 p.m. with a media scrum to commence on completion of the tour. Please RSVP by 4 p.m. on May 1, 2024, via contact details below.

World of Warships with Commander Royal Canadian Navy

What: Media are invited to attend a World of Warships livestream gaming event with Commander Royal Canadian Navy Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee will be playing World of Warships where he will be leading a virtual fleet for the first time. He will be available for media interviews when the livestream concludes.

What: Media are invited to tour the first Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessel to join Canada’s Pacific Fleet: HMCS Maxnbsp; Bernays prior to the ship’s official commissioning ceremony. Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, will be attending the ceremony in her role as Commodore-in-Chief, Canadian Fleet Pacific.

After the tour, media will be able to speak with Commander Collin Forsberg, HMCS Max Bernays Commanding Officer.

When: On May 3, 2024, members of the media are to meet on the pier adjacent to HMCS Max Bernays at 12:50 p.m. The tour will commence at 1 p.m. and conclude with a media engagement. The Harpoonist: Did We Come Here to Dance Tour

Nanaimo musician The Harpoonist is harmonica virtuoso Shawn Hall. For the past 17 years, he has been one half of the Juno-nominated blues rock duo the Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer. Now he has hooked up with Big Sugar’s Gordie Johnson for a new record of electro-tinged bog boogie on an album titled Did We Dance.

Why you should go : It’s two proven performers coming together in a new project with their considerable back catalogue, so it’s a pretty safe bet that this is going to be a blast off a show. Hall is a fine gritty vocalist with serious chops on the blues harp and the new material is a fresh mix with dubby pop flourishes on songs such as Good People.

IDLES: Love is the Fing Tour

When : May 2, 3 (sold out), 7 p.m. Where: PNE Forum Tickets : From $49.50 at ticketleader.ca 

Punk is alive and well again in the U.K., with a host of bands bringing innovative ideas to a frequently worn out genre and making it vital. Among the top acts in this new wave is Bristol’s Idles , whose latest album, TANGK, is a team-up production with Kenny Beats and longtime Radiohead affiliate Nigel Godrich involved. This new release finds the quintet at its most sonically expansive on tracks such as Gift Horse, Dancer and the latest single Pop Pop Pop.

Why you should go : IDLES built a reputation as one of the top live groups in the burgeoning new U.K. punk scene for almost a decade before putting any music down on a recording. This means manic Welsh frontman Joe Talbot and crew can rip a show to shreds and they do.

Brothers Osborne: Might As Well Be Tour

When : May 22, 8 p.m. Where : Abbotsford Centre, Abbotsford Tickets/info : From $45 at Ticketmaster

Touring in support of its fourth album, the self-titled Brothers Osborne , John and TJ Osborne are one of contemporary country music’s most consistently heralded acts. The Grammy/CMA-winning vocal duo has a knack for finding the kind of hooks that keep you wanting to crank them up in the combine forever more. The band’s latest is one of its best reviewed releases, which is saying a lot given its acclaimed career. With songs like Nobody’s Nobody heralding a message of universal acceptance and inclusivity, the duo is working different territory than many of its contemporaries, too. There is new material to present as the Break Mine EP dropped recently.

Why you should go: Having picked up the CMA vocal duo of the year award this year, a category they have won six times before, you can be certain to hear some tight harmonies at the conert. Plus, John can play a some serious lead guitar when the time comes. Add-in opening act Madeline Edwards and this is an almost certain win.

bbno$ presents Baby’s Bonanza Charity

When : May 26, 5:30 p.m. Where : Malkin Bowl, Stanley Park Tickets/info : From $87 at ticketmaster.com

Vancouver indie rapper bbno$ (pronounced baby no money) is beloved by such tastemaking media sites as Pitchfork and has built and impressive career as a gamer under the tag bbnogames. His old-school stylings are funky, funny and, most of all, freaky fresh. This show sees him playing court jester to a lineup of established and up-and-coming talents, ranging from Yung Gravy, Freddie Dredd, Yung Bae, Joost Klein, Eric Repid and Jungle Bobby, as well as Polaris Prize-winning mic owner Haviah Mighty.

Why you should go: Lineups of this many indie rap aces are rare and all the money from this show is being donated to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. So great tunes and a worthy cause. Hard to argue with that package.

Kamasi Washington: Fearless Movement Tour

When : May 30, 7 p.m. Where : Vogue Theatre, 918 Granville St. Tickets : From $49.50 at admitone.com

Saxophonist Kamasi Washington is one of contemporary jazz music’s true stars. A longtime fixture on the L.A. scene since the early 2000s, his work on rapper Kendrick Lamar’s breakout 2015 smash To Pimp a Butterfly gained him greater recognition, which his excellent album the Epic cemented. Besides his own cutting-edge solo work, his work with artists such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dogg, Run the Jewels and Thundercat has made him the kind of artist you can never pigeonhole. His latest album is one of his most lively as he had a vision of dance during the composing.

Why you should see the show: Washington is an artist who moves freely between the underground and the mainstream, and seems to never hit a wrong note in either camp. His band includes equally skilled players who all cut their teeth playing live shows across continents and oceans as leaders or side players. It has made his previous Vancouver gigs mind-blowing affairs. Think you don’t like jazz, think again.

Plus, there’s also 21 Savage (May 1), Pearl Jam (May 4 & 6), and Avril Lavigne (May 22) , all at Rogers Arena. It’s going to be a big month in music!

Following the news of her highly anticipated third studio album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT , set for release on May 17 [pre-order/add/save HERE ], Billie Eilish has announced arena dates, produced by Live Nation, for her HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR . Starting in September 2024 , Eilish will embark on her North American leg of the tour which runs through to the end of December 2024 . The tour will continue in Australia starting February 2025 ahead of her European, U.K., and Ireland arena dates starting in April until late July . SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

Billie Eilish will continue her long-standing partnership with environmental nonprofit REVERB on this tour, building on the success of previous efforts, which resulted in over $1 million donated to environmental, greenhouse gas reduction, and climate justice projects, more than 150,000 fan actions, and much more. Sustainability efforts on this tour will include reducing greenhouse gas pollution, decreasing single-use plastic waste, supporting climate action, and updating concession offerings to promote and encourage plant-based food options with Support+Feed .

In keeping with her commitment to making a difference in the environmental impacts of her music and touring, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales in North America will go to  REVERB  and its ongoing effort to help support organizations across the country addressing the impacts of food insecurity and the climate crisis.

ECO-VILLAGE

The Billie Eilish REVERB Eco-Villages will be set up at 2 locations in the main concourse of every show where fans can take part in the tour’s sustainability efforts, connect with nonprofits, and take meaningful action for people and the planet.

SUPPORT+FEED

For collective action at the intersection of climate and food, Support+Feed will be launching a 360 campaign throughout the tour. Following the success in 2022, Support+Feed will offer an expanded version of the Support+Feed Pledge inspiring fans to eat one plant-based meal a day for 30 days with digital elements and community activations. Fans will also have the opportunity to participate in Plant-based Food Drives in a selection of cities alongside the tour to raise awareness and gather food to distribute to local communities.

Fans are encouraged to join the effort to make the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR more sustainable. Where possible, take public transportation and carpool to and from the shows to help reduce greenhouse gas pollution and encourage more public transportation options. Fans will receive information via email about public transportation options before the show.

Venue partners are also helping to lessen the environmental footprint of the tour. In addition to efforts to decrease waste through reducing or eliminating single-use plastics and diverting landfill waste with compost and recycling, venues will be offering plant-based food options at all shows.

FAN PARTICIPATION

Bring an empty reusable water bottle or donate for a custom RockNRefill Nalgene bottle to fill up at the free water refill stations located at each venue. The RockNRefill bottles and refill stations are located at the Eco-Villages in the main concourse at all shows. Fight fast fashion by opting for thrifted, upcycled, or borrowed clothes instead of buying new clothing to wear to shows.
