The Trek 930 Singletrack, a vintage mountain bike from the 1990s, stands out for its classic American craftsmanship and robust design. This particular model, with its 26\" wheels and a 20.5\" frame, is well-suited for riders who appreciate the blend of comfort and durability offered by traditional bike designs. Its current condition reflects a history of use but also care; it has no breaks or dents, yet it shows the expected signs of wear such as scuffs, scratches, and some light rust.

Functionally, the bike remains reliable. The gears and brakes are in working order, which is crucial for both safety and performance. The tires, although showing signs of age with flaking gumwalls, still have a decent lifespan left. However, the back tire does have a slow leak, indicating a need for either a new inner tube or a patch, a minor setback in the grand scheme of things.

The bike's handling characteristics are described as very solid, an attribute that many riders look for in a mountain bike. Its weight, around 29 pounds, is fairly standard for bikes of its era and build, providing a stable and grounded riding experience. The missing plastic bottom of one gear shifter, while noted, does not affect the bike's functionality, demonstrating the robustness of its design.

For potential buyers, the seller's commitment to proper packing and shipping is reassuring, especially with the offer to refund any difference if the shipping cost is less than anticipated. However, the note about higher shipping costs to California, Alaska, or Hawaii, and shipping only on Wednesdays are logistical considerations to keep in mind.

Light but sturdy frame and very smooth gear switch

No, very good with this price

haven't even ridden yet

just got gifted a Singletrack Trek 930 (have no idea what year) from a friend of mine. I haven't rode since I was a kid. Any advice anyone can give me is most greatly appreciated!!!!! Again, I am a complete novice and from reading the posts I have no business even being on this blog.... but if you'll tolerate me and advise I'd be most appreciative!

lightweight, sturd, decent shox, longevity, great ride

Got 930 Singletrack used in green (I believe it is from late 90s due to having front shocks). Got it for song $60. It is amazingly light and solid and everything is still in workign order even though it is 17 years old. I mainly use it as a commuter bike; reckon it will fare fine for trail riding. Only thing I changed is the handlebar from straight bar to Race Face low riser, more for comfort than performance. I really love this bike considering I have a Gary Fisher Big Sur that cost twice as much as well as a Turner 5 Spot that is 4k and have had Santa Cruz Heckler. Huge part of riding is skill and what shape you are in really unless you are competing at professional level. I love this bike and will never part with it. If you fine one used, grab it.

Strong Frame. Bullet proof. Owned this bike for 12 years. 25 broken bones 4 concussions and Zero! broken bike parts!! Takes a serious beating in all conditions. Great geometry for downhill. Effortless climbs.

Rim brakes SUCK! Rock Shox Suck.

Here's the deal. This frame is indestructible! Don't believe the hype of the salesmen. Some how I foraged the same insane and extremely technical trails 12 years ago on this bike as the kids are now days on their $6000 Full suspension bikes. Don get me wrong. Its kicks your ass but it makes you stay alert, responsive and aggressive. Yes it is a harder ride, but do we ride because it is easy?? Just saying. I have never broken down on this bike. Replaced Tires, rims, pedals, saddle, Fork, Headset, and rim brakes to disc. All Necessary changes. Bottom line... I love my 930 in all its raw splendor. And I saved about $2000! :)

Pearl white w/red lettering. Love the bike from day one. Smooth, fast. In regards to other postings of weight. I think it is very light compared to aluminum bikes of similar models. I have no problem carrying over the shoulder when needed.

Rock Shox Jett T2 fork, I never got around to replacing it. I mostly do singletrack and the bike is intended for that use so the fork does pretty well for the purpose. Fork still works well after 10 years.

I wish they still made this bike. I've been looking for another one of similar specs and model year.

Prior model before 930SHX: Trek 820 Current: 2000 Trek 6000SHX, 2004 Specialized StumpJumper FSR Elite

Frame. For almost 10 years of riding nothing broke - still original drivetrain.

450 for a new bike - nothing.

The bike was riden on XC trails, now used for pavement mostly (pulling the kids trailer, even somitems as a road bike). It weights 26.5 lbs. Is it too much for a steel bike...? Thinking about making it singlespeed, fully-rigid and lighter wheels.

like they all say...frame, which has strong but slightly supple steel...i think mines the last year..anyone help? its forest green metallic with sram stuff...8spd...

for this price, not a bitty thing, if i paid retail, all the components except shifters..brakes are OK..but just ok

the parts get thrashed, the frame rocks on...just about had it with the stx crank performance, i can smash'em for breakfast! looking for an older 8spd setup if anyone has one in very good condition (gruppo)....the best thing about this bike is the way it eats up twisty speed trails with obstacles...very much like my old kona...which is very surprising to me considering the different angles in the bike,,,but nevertheless this bike feels similar, almost like mini-transparent-suspension....anyway, one of the best deals ever

name it, kona, brodie, special ed, haro, raleigh, fat city...and on...

Super Frame Looks great I liked the sram(7)shifter

Shocks are entry level Indy s

I ride heavy 3+ times a week and except for the occasional worn out component - it still works great. I have had the bike since 97. Lately I have been riding my brothers Trek 7000 - I really like that bike. The punishment is taking it's toll on me though - I'm thinking about buying a dual suspension...any suggestions

I loved the frame and the components easy of changing and adjustment. I road on the same chain and drive train for 4 years and only replaced them as the broke. The price of the bike was great and easily upgradeable for a beginner as they advanced in skill level.

I would say the only weeknessrd wer the fork (RS Jett TT), not enough travel and the heavy rims( Bontrager).

Botttom line I used this bike on all kinds of trails, raods, and everything in between. I used in college to commute to class, froiends rode it on trails and then as a road trainer. The frame was so strong and held up to anything I threw at it. I then put slicks on and changed the drive train and it worked great as a road trainer. I finally just sold the bike today to pay for my new road bike Giant OCR2 (2005)I hope I dont regret getting rid of that frame.

Tired all different kinds of Treks, and Giants

frame is awsome haddiling

brakes grip shifts

great hardtail reliable fun handles great forgiving great for a weekend warrior if your riding at a place like whitface youd want more suspension but i made it down fine.

Well this morning I was sitting around talking to my old man and I had told him about my new bike. He insists that I see a doctor because I spend more than 50$ on a bicycle. He told me that I could have just had his old one if I did a few things for him. Well....him being as clever as he is made a deal with me that if I mow the grass, clean out the garage, and wash his truck that he would give it to me. I kept asking him to let me see it, but he just kept telling me, "you can see it when you're finished, I don't think you'll be disappointed." I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I began the work. When I finished he showed me this. He scooped it up at a yard sale in 2001 when he was going to "get in shape AGAIN." So rather than ripping apart my brand new 29'er. I have plans on making this a singlespeed. He never fails me!

I love the hanging hex key set on the rear brakes. Should make for a pretty awesome SS. The cantis are probably alright, especially if you treat the old lady to some Kool Stops. I'd personally like to see the saddle gone, a shorter stem and wider handlebars.

I like the on-the-fly canti-brake adjuster. And the couch. ...beat me to it... Solid frame those old treks...

I could see mowing the lawn and cleaning out the garage for that thing, but I don't think it's worth the truck wash. Your dad ripped you.

I think I might ditch the wheels and put discs on the front and back. I started a list with everything I want, basically new everything. I have a squishy fork on the list but I'm not sure if I want to give the rigid thing a try or not before spending the money on a fork.

no discs unless you do a serious frame/fork rework.

rear disk on Trek 970 I did mine for $80 all in. Baller Bike company Cary NC. Guys an artist, literally works for peanuts and beer.

No squishy either without srsly altering handling.

no i wouldn't put squish on that its lugged, 1" likely.

Hey guy's, I have been off the bike for about 10 years now, so I guess I am a noob again. Sorry to hijack this thread, but I can't start a new one yet. I was looking at a Rig at the bike shop yesterday and I was really intrigued by this single speed thing. It seems like it would fit my riding style perfectly and i like the simplicity. I would really like that new Rig, but after seeing these old bikes converted to SS, I think that's what I'd like to try first. I have a 98 GF Ziggurat with a warranty replacement frame from 99. So, the thing that I wonder about, is the added stress from powering up hills with only one speed and the fact that I already broke my first frame, am I asking for trouble? How about cranks and pedals. Do they hold up okay? I think my Time atac's are already bent. Thanks.

Good frames if i do say myself. I have had a 91 and 97 but sold the 97 after making it ss. I think i will convert the 91 someday if i get around to it! Ohh and keep it rigid, the lugged frame rides great! You can put suspension on it but you have to find a 1 inch steerer tube fork.

About Dinamo Elektrostal

Moscow’s Dinamo Elektrostal are gearing up for their fifth EHL season having frequently picked off impressive wins but have yet to top their particular group in their previous attempts.

They did get the best of arch rivals Dinamo Ak-Bars in both the Russian Cup and the Prometheus International tournament to show they are knocking on the door.

There has been a reasonable level of turnover from 2020 with Anton Noshin, Evgenii Mokrousov, Aleksei Godenkov and Ivan Zuikov joining the newly formed TsOP Moskomsport outfit. Danill Karagodin, Mikhail Nekludov and Ilya Larikov have all retired.

Their replacements are mostly youngsters with Dmitry Zheleznyakov, Aleksei Samylkin, Petr Agapov, Ilia Bartenev, Andrei Gribanov and Oleg Kulakov joining their line-up.

19th Edition of Global Conference on Catalysis, Chemical Engineering & Technology

Victor Mukhin

Victor Mukhin, Speaker at Chemical Engineering Conferences

Title : Active carbons as nanoporous materials for solving of environmental problems

However, up to now, the main carriers of catalytic additives have been mineral sorbents: silica gels, alumogels. This is obviously due to the fact that they consist of pure homogeneous components SiO2 and Al2O3, respectively. It is generally known that impurities, especially the ash elements, are catalytic poisons that reduce the effectiveness of the catalyst. Therefore, carbon sorbents with 5-15% by weight of ash elements in their composition are not used in the above mentioned technologies. However, in such an important field as a gas-mask technique, carbon sorbents (active carbons) are carriers of catalytic additives, providing effective protection of a person against any types of potent poisonous substances (PPS). In ESPE “JSC "Neorganika" there has been developed the technology of unique ashless spherical carbon carrier-catalysts by the method of liquid forming of furfural copolymers with subsequent gas-vapor activation, brand PAC. Active carbons PAC have 100% qualitative characteristics of the three main properties of carbon sorbents: strength - 100%, the proportion of sorbing pores in the pore space – 100%, purity - 100% (ash content is close to zero). A particularly outstanding feature of active PAC carbons is their uniquely high mechanical compressive strength of 740 ± 40 MPa, which is 3-7 times larger than that of  such materials as granite, quartzite, electric coal, and is comparable to the value for cast iron - 400-1000 MPa. This allows the PAC to operate under severe conditions in moving and fluidized beds.  Obviously, it is time to actively develop catalysts based on PAC sorbents for oil refining, petrochemicals, gas processing and various technologies of organic synthesis.

Victor M. Mukhin was born in 1946 in the town of Orsk, Russia. In 1970 he graduated the Technological Institute in Leningrad. Victor M. Mukhin was directed to work to the scientific-industrial organization "Neorganika" (Elektrostal, Moscow region) where he is working during 47 years, at present as the head of the laboratory of carbon sorbents.     Victor M. Mukhin defended a Ph. D. thesis and a doctoral thesis at the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (in 1979 and 1997 accordingly). Professor of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Scientific interests: production, investigation and application of active carbons, technological and ecological carbon-adsorptive processes, environmental protection, production of ecologically clean food.

Product info. Add a review. 2 Singletracks members own this. #141 out of 340 Hardtail bikes. Brand: Trek. The trek 930 was a fairly popular steel low-mid range model in the early 90s. It initially had no suspension at all, but later model years added elastomer based front suspension. Many of the models used grip shifters mated to 3x7 drivetrains.

  3. 1993 Trek 930 Singletrack SHX worth updating?

PaulCoffeeFreak. 24 posts · Joined 2011. #17 · Oct 31, 2011. I picked up what looks to be a stock 1993 Trek 930 SHX Singletrack at the flea market. After some online digging, I learned that this is a virtually bombproof bike, with solid Shimano Altus components. I'm a big fan of vintage bikes, especially lugged steel frames like this one has.

  4. Trek 930 1998 Bike 1998 or Older

Weakness: NOS components are becoming harder to find, particularly higher-end rim brake rims. I bought my 94 Trek 930 new in 1995, and have logged thousands of road miles on it; I truly wouldn't trade it for a new Trek! Over the years I have upgraded the components. My 930's XT 44x34x24 crank will allow me to stay with most road bikes that aren ...

  5. Trek Singletrack 930 What year?

The 1996 930 colors were 1. Ice green/Black/Green fade w/Titanium decals, 2. Ice Inkwell Blue w/Silver decals. I think the matte fade color was produced well into '96 since it sold well. I can tell you with certainty that the Judy fork didn't come with that bike from the factory.

Bullet proof steel frame. After 13 years of some hard riding and some down time in the basement the bike is better than new with componet upgrades. Weakness: Entry level componets, The Rockshox Quadra 5 was great in 1994, but not to good in 2007. The shock still works though. 27 lbs. is heavy for a hard tail. The Thudbuster Seatpost turns this ...

  16. 1994 and 1995 Trek 930/950/970

The 1994 Trek 930/950/970 bikes were completely revised from the 1993 version. They were still made in the USA using True Temper tubing, but now the frames were TIG welded instead of lugged, and as a result had cleaner lines and lower weight. In 1994 I was working as a mechanic at Start to Finish in San Francisco, so I built up lots of these bikes.
