About Wizkid

Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, aka Wizkid, began his career in music when he was just 11 years old in Lagos, Nigeria. His first record, Lil Prinz, was recorded in 2001 in collaboration with Glorious Five, a group consisting of Balogun and his friends from church. In 2006, he started pursuing music full-time, at first collaborating with various Nigerian pop acts including OJB Jezreel, Naeto C, and Banky W. By 2011, he was ready to record his debut studio album as a solo artist: Superstar was released via Empire Mates Entertainment to great critical and public acclaim across Africa, propelling him to stardom in his home country. After multiple delays and label disagreements, Balogun released his sophomore album titled Ayoin 2014, which featured Balogun’s global breakthrough track “Ojuelegba.” Not only did the single cement his status as one of Nigeria’s biggest pop acts, but it was also picked up and remixed by Drake and Skepta, thrusting Wizkid into the international spotlight. In return, Wizkid appeared on Drake’s 2016 smash single “One Dance.”In March 2017, it was announced that Wizkid had signed a major deal with RCA and Sony International, which released his third LP,Sounds From the Other Side, later that year. Following this, Wizkid refocused energy on his Starboy imprint in Africa. From releasing viral records like “Soco” with his affiliate acts to securing partnerships with brands such as Puma, Wizkid has solidified himself as a millennial pioneer for African entertainment. As an ode to his hometown, Wizkid released his fourth full-length project titled Made in Lagos in 2020 with guest appearances from Burna Boy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R, Ella Mai, and more. The album is the longest charting Nigerian album of the century on Billboard World Albums chart, and the first and only African album to be RIAA certified Gold in the US with half a million in sale units. The Grammy nominated hit single “Essence” became the first Nigerian song to feature on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached #1 on US Urban radio. The album’s 2021 Grammy nominated deluxe version had the Justin Bieber remixed lead single “Essence” (featuring Tems) that peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in addition to winning a2022 BET Award for “Best Collaboration” and a 2022 NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding International Song.”Made in Lagos, along with his Grammy award winning feature with Beyonce, five sold-out shows at the o2 Arena in London and his sold-out show at the Accor Arena in Paris, prove Wizkid’s movement to be one of lasting global impact.

Very basic most times. Thank God there were other artiste on the show. Energy was ok though, but alot needs to improved on. Like his energy level was a bit drab for an Afrobeats show. Would have been way better if we had a live band instead of the heavy dependence on syncing.

Wizkid has pushed back his planned North American tour in support of More Love, Less Ego on the eve of its kick-off due to what the singer described as “unforeseen circumstances.” The outing, which was slated to begin on Friday (March 3) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, would have kept the Afrobeats star on the road through a May 28 gig at Loandepot Park in Miami.

Wizkid is also slated to perform at Afro Nation — the world’s biggest music festival focused on Afrobeats — when it comes to the continental U.S. for the first time in May. The two-day event in Miami is also scheduled to feature Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Beenie Man, CKay, BNXN, Dadju, Franglish, Black Sherif, Nelson Freitas, Gyakie and Nissi and more.

Back in November, Wizkid landed the four top spots from More Love, Less Ego on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart, including the No. 1 track “2 Sugar featuring  Ayra Starr . In addition, the Ego songs “Flower Pads,” “Slip N Slide,” featuring  Skilliben g and  Shenseea , and “Plenty Loving,” landed at Nos. 2-4, respectively.

Justin bieber makes rare onstage appearance with coachella cameo, justin bieber returns to stage with coachella surprise.

Justin Bieber 's giving his fans what they want -- if just for a brief moment ... as he got back on a stage to perform live, joining Tems for her Coachella set.

JB hit the stage with WizKid Sunday night at the California music festival, performing their hit song, "Essence" for the excited crowd. Check it out ... the audience goes totally nuts as Justin appears onstage in a black sweatshirt, cargo pants and a baseball hat.

Justin's cameo was a welcome surprise ... as the singer has been keeping a low profile following his Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis .

Remember, Justin was diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder in June 2022, leading to the cancelation of his "Justice" tour .

Still, Justin has stepped out a bit more in recent months ... with the singer even performing a surprise 6-song set at the NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto back in February.

Many thought Justin's appearance at the hockey event meant he'd join Usher for the Super Bowl Halftime show , but he ultimately turned down the invitation.

As Lil Jon previously told TMZ ... the SB Halftime show was just too much for Justin to commit to doing. Justin did cheer on Usher from the stands, however, attending the Super Bowl with his wife, Hailey Bieber .

Nonetheless, Justin has a long history of making surprise cameos at Coachella. Not only did Justin stop by Daniel Caesar 's Coachella set in 2022 to perform "Peaches," but he also joined Ariana Grande in 2019 for her Coachella set.

Justin had also been spotted enjoying the festival earlier in the weekend, hugging it out Saturday with his longtime pal Jaden Smith .

Justin wasn't the only A-list surprise during Coachella weekend one ... as Will Smith joined J Balvin onstage, Olivia Rodrigo stopped by Gwen Stefani 's set, Billie Eilish hit the stage with Lana Del Rey and Kesha was invited by Reneé Rapp to perform a song.

Sounds like one for the books!!!
