Best Cruise Deals and Discounts sorted by your dream destination

Sometimes it's all about the destination and that is certainly true of cruise destinations. The cruise port you depart from and the amazing cruise ports you visit define your experience as much as what cruise line or cruise ship you sail on. At CruiseExperts.com we understand that and have sorted these cruises by the places you'll visit on your cruise vacation. So whether it's a cruise to Alaska, a Caribbean cruise, cruises to Hawaii, a cruise to the Bahamas or Bermuda or a cruise to Mexico you'll find it easily with the help of our destination wizard. Maybe you're looking for a cruise vacation that's just a little different like a Panama Canal cruise, a Transatlantic cruise, cruises to Europe, a Tahiti cruise with a tour of the South Pacific, a down under adventure with an Australia / New Zealand cruise or even a fall foliage cruise through Canada and New England. Whatever “floats your boat” get started by selecting your dream destination on our cruise search page .

Last Minute Cruises can sometimes be the cheapest cruise deal.

Sometimes, but not always, the cheapest cruise deal is a Last Minute Cruise. You won't get a wide selection of stateroom categories or a chance to select your stateroom location but if your schedule is flexible you just might find a cheap cruise price on a last minute cruise. Last minute cruises are cruises leaving in the next 90 days. The cruise line really wants to fill those last few staterooms and sometimes will offer them at a discount cruise price in exchange for you giving up your right to a full selection of cabin categories or deck locations. CruiseExperts.com makes it easy for you to poke around and see what's available in last minute cruise deals. View our Last Minute Cruise Deals by clicking here and give it a try. La Coruna cruise port

Region Western Europe - Azores - Canary Islands

Local Time 2024-06-11 03:16

Port La Coruna cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from La Coruna, Spain Galicia. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

La Coruna (aka Corunna) is an Atlantic port city in Galicia (northwestern Spain), with population around 250,000 (metro 420,000), ranking it Galicia's second-largest and Spain's 17th-largest. A cruise port, La Coruna serves Santiago de Compostela (Galicia's capital) located approx 56 km (35 mi) to the south.

Port La Coruna (locode ESLCG) is located at the entrance of a large gulf and as a major cargo port serves the distribution of agricultural goods from Galicia. The seaport is the main engine for Galicia's economy and the province's richest region.

The city is famous for its lighthouse (Roman Tower of Hercules, UNESCO site) which is in continuous operation since 2nd century AD. The lighthouse is surrounded by an enormous public park with a golf course. The city is also famous for its glazed window balconies (galerías), Old Town (Ciudad Vieja), Calle Orzan district (where are most clubs and bars), Los Jardines (park located close to Rua Real and Los Cantones shopping mall).

As cruise port, La Coruna was inaugurated in 2009. In 2017, the Port recorded a total of 121 ship calls and 184,069 passengers (45% increase over 2016). The year also had 22x two-ship days. The busiest months (high season) are May and September.

During the COVID crisis (2021's last months) the cruise port handled 31 ship calls and 30,000+ passengers.

2022 became the cruise port's record year, with 136 cruise calls (out of 140 booked ship berthings) and a total of 222,723 tourists. The schedule included 20x two-ship days and 3x three-ship days. 2022's bussiests months were October (24 ship calls), September (21), April (19) and May (18). Maiden visits were made by the ships Disney Magic (DCL), Valiant Lady (Virgin Voyages), Carnival Celebration (CCL), Iona (P&O UK). The economic impact on the city was ~EUR 20 million.

For 2023, the Port had booked 140+ ship berthings, including 24x multiple-ship days (5x 3-ship) and maiden visits by P&O Arvia, Viking Saturn, Oceania Vista.

Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela[a] is the capital city of Galicia (autonomous province in Spain) with population around 100,000. The town was first mentioned in the 9th century and in 1985, the Old Town (featuring numerous historic buildings and narrow streets) was designated a UNESCO site.

The city's economy is based mainly on public administration (here is headquartered Galicia's government), tourism and higher education (USC university). Other large employers are FINSA (machined solid timber), UROVESA (heavy vehicle manufacturer), Blusens (electronics manufacturer), Televés (telecommunications equipment), Banco Gallego (Novacaixagalicia-owned Spanish bank).

Among tourists, the city is mainly popular for its nightlife, architecture and the cult of St James. The Way of St James (particularly in Holy Years - when July 25th falls on Sunday) attarcts between 200-300,000 pilgrims each year.

Besides Port La Coruna, Santiago de Compostela is served by a railway (high-speed trains) and an international airport (linking to the Canary Islands, Barcelona, Malaga, Bilbao, Alicante, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Milan, Geneva, Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, London).

La Coruna cruise terminal

Generally, cruise ships dock directly in downtown (at Transatlantic Quay) as Port La Coruna is just at ~5 min walking distance from the city's center. This is an exclusive cruise ship berth with a new passenger terminal providing all the standard tourist services (both to passengers and crew). Terminal's facilities and amenities include Los Cantones (shopping complex with stores, food venues, restrooms), city and tour information, free Wi-Fi. A taxi parking is approx 0,5 km from the dock.

Further improving its cruise-related facilities, in 2022 Calvo Sotelo (south quay) was converted from a cargo dock/berth to an exclusive (dedicated to cruise vessels) quay used in two-ship days.

The EUR 0,5 million project included building a new road access to the dock, adding security and commissioning a provisional tent/terminal.

Calvo Sotelo Quay has length 420 m / 1378 ft and direct transport link and communication with downtown. Its surrounding spaces were also opened to residents for leisure activities and cultural events.

The Transatlantic Quay remains an exclusive berth for cruise ships and is used on 1-ship days. 2 small or 1 large can be accommodated at the 484-m-long, 11-m draught quay.

European cruise line Marella not coming back for second year at Port Canaveral

world cruise center terminal berth 92

Marella Cruises , a European cruise line that sailed out of Port Canaveral during 2023, is not coming back this year, port officials say.

The cruise line was unique for the port. It sailed the Marella Discovery out of Port Canaveral for six months in 2023. But U.S. residents could not book a sailing on the ship. The sailings were just for people who booked a flight from Europe to Melbourne Orlando International Airport on an affiliated airline, TUI Airways. Both Marella and TUI Airways are part of the TUI Group, a major international travel company.

Port Canaveral CEO John Murray said the Marella Discovery was scheduled to sail only during 2023 out of Port Canaveral before switching to other itineraries. He said there were no issues between the port and the cruise line that triggered Marella to not sail from Port Canaveral this year.

More on Marella Discovery: 5 things to know about new Port Canaveral cruise ship, including why locals can't sail

The Marella Discovery had a total of 28 sailings out of Port Canaveral from May to November 2023, with a total of 85,533 passengers getting on or off the ship. Most of the sailings were seven nights in duration.

There were various itineraries from Port Canaveral. A typical one was called "American Dream," with stops in Charleston, South Carolina; New York City; and Freeport, Bahamas.

TUI's business model is to sell full-scale travel packages. So the cruise was part of a package that includes a flight from a United Kingdom airport to Melbourne Orlando International Airport. Some packages had an option to add a hotel stay in Florida.

The Marella Discovery currently is sailing seven-night "Ottoman Odyssey" cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean, sailing out of Marmaris, Turkey.

Marella Cruises is a relatively small cruise line, with five ships in operation.

The Marella Discovery also is relatively small, compared with some of the megaships based at Port Canaveral. The Discovery has 915 cabins; a double-occupancy capacity of 1,830 passengers; and a full capacity of 2,076 passengers. It is 866 feet long and has a gross tonnage of 69,130 tons.

It has sailed under various names over the years. It initially sailed for Royal Caribbean International as the Splendour of the Seas, starting in 1996. The ship was refurbished in 2016, after being acquired by TUI.

Port's cruise business booming

Despite not having a Marella ship in port this year, Port Canaveral's cruise business is going gangbusters.

For the first seven months of the current budget year (October 2023 through April 2024), the port's total cruise revenue, including from cruise passenger parking, is $92.43 million, which is $2.12 million above budget. During that time, there have been 553 cruise ship calls and 4.52 million multiday passengers getting on or off those ships.

Port Canaveral is the world's second-busiest cruise port. Five cruise lines base ships at Port Canaveral — Carnival, Disney, MSC, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Celebrity and Princess will add ships to the Port Canaveral lineup later this year.

A total of 21 multiday cruise ships will be based at Port Canaveral during at least part of this year.

TUI continues to fly to Melbourne

Despite not having a Marella ship at Port Canaveral, TUI is continuing its flights into and out of Melbourne Orlando International Airport for a third straight year in 2024.

The airport reported that a total of 242,542 passengers got on or off international flights in Melbourne in 2022, and 231,472 did so in 2023. The airport does not report passenger totals by airline, but airport officials said the vast majority of those were TUI passengers.

TUI's Melbourne service originates from English cities of Birmingham, London (London-Gatwick airport), Manchester and Newcastle, along with Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Glasgow, Scotland. This year's TUI flights started March 18, and will run through Oct. 26.

In 2025, TUI will add a new departure city for its flights to Melbourne — Dublin, Ireland.

The international travel giant flies U.K. travelers to U.S. destinations aboard Boeing 787 Dreamliners via vacation packages. The airline does not offer tickets for Melbourne passengers to fly to Europe.

Princess sails from San Pedro, correct. Pier 92/93 most of the time. Address 100 Swinford St.( Los Angeles world cruise center)

Like

To the best of my knowledge, only Carnival sails from Long Beach, near the Queen Mary.

Rarely, Princess also sails from berth 46, which is due south as far as you can go, but you can check this out on the port schedule. I mention it, but it is rare so don't sweat it. Online map this to get a feel for the area.

San Pedro, near the USS Iowa.

San Peeedro

Haha

I'm just being ornery it's been ONE of THOSE days.

Yes, Princess will embark from San Pedro.(World Cruise Terminal)

But if Princess is coming in for a day, she may port in Long Beach near the Queen Mary since there is more to do in Long Beach FOR THE DAY.

San Pedro is a lovely place to spend the day  🙃 💕

I forgot...oops.  As I was standing outside of the terminal for my ride, a lovely Australia couple was asking about an UBER to LA.  When I told her how much it might cost, she asked about other things to do in the area since they were going to get back on the Grand.

I mentioned the USS Iowa.  Then directed them to hotels in the walking area.  I even told them to walk the couple of blocks uphill to Gaffey for lunch.

Personally, I do love to visit Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, The seal rescue center, the Korean Bell, Palos Verdes Lighthouse and interpretive center, Point Fermin Lighthouse, and so many other lovely areas.  You have a lovely "backyard."

you are right--Long Beach has done a much better job of making their highlights accessible, but Pedro is working on it--there sadly is not info easily available in/or right outside the terminal to help people find what we have right here--baby steps to becoming a place people want to come (5 or 6 years ago the Navy actually told their sailors it was safer/better to go to LB when they were here for Navy Days!)

Is turning the Best Western hotel a few blocks up the hill from the cruiseport into a homeless shelter part of the new San Pedro?

housing for homeless Veterans, yes

I'll bootstrap on this question:  I have always been told that the pier is San Pedro, but I have the address for the World Cruise Center is 100 Swinford St.,  Wilmington , CA 90744.

So, is the Cruise Center in San Pedro or Wilmington?

I don't know where you got the Wilmington location from but the World Cruise Center is definitely in San Pedro.

Kay S

Wilmington and San Pedro share a border.  100 Swinford St. is in San Pedro.  It's the only cruise terminal there, and you can't mistake it.  Walk across the street and find yourself in Wilmington.  Any Uber or taxi driver will know where to go.  What you don't want to do is go the Long Beach terminal (which is over the bridge) and find yourself at the Carnival dock.  You might want to consult Google maps.

I am guessing you got the Wilmington from Google Maps? Which has that address & the Wilmington zipcode...the Port Website & Bing/Mapquest have San Pedro & 90731 zip...they all have directions getting you to the right place (in San Pedro, by the way)...it can also be Los Angeles as both Wilmington & San Pedro are technically Los Angeles city & they make up the Port of Los Angeles. Long Beach is it's own city & port.

Wow, you are good!!  That is exactly where I got "Wilmington."

Google Maps gets me to the ship every time (albeit with some confusion due to the construction these last couple of years).  But somehow, on the way to the ship, I always end up detouring to the CVS on Gaffee, because my wife always has a few last minute purchases to make!  For my last cruise, I put that CVS into my Navigator as my destination, knowing that we would need to pick up _______ (antacids, eye drops, sunscreen, skin lotions, ....)  It is all good!
