Crown Princess Daily Event Listings 15 Days Hawaii

Are you planning a Princess cruise to Hawaii on  Crown Princess  and looking for a complete set of Princess daily event listings?

I’ve got you! Here are the full 15 days of paper Daily Event Listings (formerly known as the  Princess Patter ) from my Hawaii cruise  roundtrip from Los Angeles, California in December 2022.

Although cruisers can also find the daily activities, venue hours, dress codes, and show times on the  MedallionClass app , I find that it’s often more convenient to use the printed Daily Event Listings to see everything in one place.

Unlike on many cruise lines after the pandemic, your Princess stateroom steward will still deliver a copy to your room each afternoon or evening!

Cruise pro tip: Snap a pic of the front and back of your Princess Daily Event Listings each day—it’s much easier to see all the events in one place compared to on the app.

We like it, but you have to enjoy sea days. Also, the first two or so days can be cool and may have choppy seas. The last day is also cool. It doesn't get tropical until the 3rd day.

Those sea days can keep you busy. Lots to do: destination lectures, lei making class, ukulele class, plus the usual trivia, etc.

It's always a thrill to watch the temperature get warmer & warmer as you get closer. Plus we keep an eye out for turtles, whales, dolphins & flying fish.

txwriter

What is the time for best chance of less choppy waters?  Also, best time for whales/turtles/ other wildlife?  Does the departure port make a difference for these things?

I know “best” is subjective but wondering about this based on the many of you who have traveled route multiple times.

As posted the highest possibility of less desirable conditions is near the West Coast.

If asking about viewing sea life from the ship don’t expect it because the ship transits between islands after sunset.  There are opportunities to see whales or turtles from the Maui shorelines at this time of the year.  Whale season is generally best during February (and only slightly less desirable in January & March) however that can vary & it’s best from a boat excursion.

I’ve sailed roundtrip LA several times which having fewer wintertime storms may provide better weather closer to CA than from SF.  If you want fewer crowds then January is a great time to visit Hawaii because with daily high temperatures of about 80° the weather is just perfect with fewer visitors!   😎

Thanks everyone for your comments, and nf5894 for posting your super video - looks like your family had a great time. This cruise is very tempting. I believe we would be on the Star if we take it the end of this year. We are going on a 12-night Alaska journey in a few months and that will give us an idea about how we like a large number of sea days. I am hesitant to wait until after we return to book a Hawaii trip for fear the cabin location we want won’t be available or the price will go up. All that said, we are looking forward to  hearing everything our fellow cruisers want to share.

Our cruise departed on Dec 4th 2018. We didn't book it until late September and there were still lots of cabins available then. We're looking at doing the same cruise again this year which leaves on the same date - this year it is on the Star, which does have fewer cabins so maybe we'll have to book earlier!

We are looking at November, possibly the first cruise in December; would love to be on board during the holiday season.

Although it is a lovely cruise it was too expensive for the few ports. If they had some over night stays in port I would have liked it much better.  The naturalist they had on board was very interesting and I attended all her lectures.

For people who have done this cruise did you have excursion or other activites you would recommend in the ports?

I can't provide any meaningful feedback on this itinerary yet. However, I'm leaving for L.A. this Thursday to board the Emerald for the L.A. to Hawaii trip and will likely post a "Live from..." thread here in order to answer any questions that people may have (although I warn you all that I'm pretty low key when I go on vacation so don't expect any sort of adventures like Pescado Amarillo or TracyABD post about).

Low key works for me! Looking forward to seeing any info on your experiences

Can you please do a screen shot or provide information on the pricing  offered to platinum /elite for unlimited internet packages instead of the free minutes?  I’m on the same cruise later this winter and I’d like to get an answer ahead of time.  Thanks!

Very nice video.  I loved the street painter in California.  That was awesome

Whales are fantastic off Maui, December thru March.  They are fantastic in February!  I have seen whales off Maui, from the promenade deck, many times.  Just fantastic!

i have done 6 Hawaii cruises, RT from LA/ San Pedro.  A great trip!

satxdiver

We have been to Maui, Oahu and the big island on land trips with at least a week or more on each island.  We will be on the Star in November for our first cruise to HI.  The only new port will be the garden island which we are looking forward to doing.  Now to address the many sea days.  We have been on TA cruises also with many sea days one after the other.  We enjoy them because they truly are relaxing where we can enjoy the ship, read our books, have leisurely meals and enjoy the entertainment at night without having to worry about getting up early the next day for a tour.  We driven the road to Hana (all day adventure), rode bicycles down Maui's Haleakala volcano, toured Volcano NP, snorkeled the many beaches etc.

When in Honolulu I would recommend an excursion to visit Pearl Harbor where you can see the Arizona museum and memorial, the battleship Missouri, and the USS Bowfin submarine museum.

Since you stay until late that day, I would recommend taking the short walk from the ship to try the great hot wings at Hooters.

I don't have a screenshot to share (I will get one when I board the ship on Friday) but this was posted in the roll call for the 04 December 2018 L.A.-Hawaii sailing by @SingBill

"Onboard Emerald now. Platinum/Elite options when I sign in are as follows

100 min $25

200 min $40

social $95.99

surf $135.99

This may be a little dated, and it is the 15 day from San Francisco, but it may give you a general idea.  Thought I would check in on the Princess boards, because I was getting several notifications as someone was reading the old review.

Enjoy your cruise.

I'm doing this cruise in early April. I had been looking forward to spending lots of time in the pool on the sea days, but it occurs to me now that the first week of April might be too cold on the sea days? I'm not sure what to expect or if the pools will even be open?

:classic_biggrin:

We are going again on Star Princess Dec4 ,2019  from San Pedro  . We can drive to this port & park at the  Double Tree hotel by Hilton ,at the Harbor  . Staying there get free pkg & R/T shuttle to & from the ship .The Crown Plaza hotel in San Pedro also has a similar program stay &  park free

We have been to all the islands many times both on fly ins & cruises . One of the best tools is to get the AAA auto club Hawaii tour book ,so you don't miss the important things to see & do  .In the book they use GEMS ;which are must sees .  Oahu is the culture capital with the Hawaiian cultural Center (book on line for a discount ) .Recommend getting  6 people to share a mini van & drive there .allow one hour each way  & return of the mini van . If not there go to the Bishop museum  for the history of the islands , then to PearlHarbor , The Punch Bowl  ,& the state capital

On Maui ,of wanting to do the road  to Hana road trip do it through the cruise line because it is long & a private trip could miss the ship  .  Kanapali  beach is a short ride by taxi or bus or rental car (no life guards ) .There is a neat shopping center there & a maritime museum  .Above Kanapali is Kapalula beach which is imo the best place to snorkel from shore over reefs .

Hilo is where you can rent a car  & drive up to see Volcano National Park . If you go with a senior who has the National Park card the car load gets in free .& do not miss the little museum . Kilauea volcano  recently   irrupted  . Kona is the desert side of the big island where Hilo is the Garden side .  Much to see on the Big island

Kauai has  beauty because it is so green from a lot of rain  .it is the wettest of the main islands  . Check the AAA tour book  before  your cruise

The Pacific is a big ocean.  You can get heavy swells from down by New Zealand during our summer

(their winter) ...or not.   You can get heavy swells from the Gulf of Alaska during out winter.  ...or not.

Seeing wildlife mid-Pacific is an absolute crap shoot, but you're not going to be able to see, for example,

dolphins from up on the Lido deck even if the bridge notices them, slows the ship, and announces them.

What difference the departure port makes is the likely temperature outside the first few and the last

Princess cruises announces revised 2025 world cruise itineraries.

Uncertainties in the Red Sea and Surrounding Region Prompts Rerouting of Global Voyages

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. , April 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Given the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and following extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia , and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.

"A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas," said Terry Thornton , chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises. "These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean."

Island Princess World Cruise Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. Lauderdale, embarking January 5, 2025 , and Los Angeles on January 20, 2025 , and ends in Los Angeles on May 17, 2025 . This destination dreamers delight will traverse over 36,700 nautical miles, visiting 46 destinations in 24 countries and six continents. The voyage includes visits to historic Bar, Montenegro and Taranto, Italy , along with inaugural World Cruise calls to the idyllic Greek Island of Patmos and to Volos – for the Monasteries of Meteora.

The revised World Cruise itinerary, from February 16-April 9 , departs Sydney and will travel to Melbourne and Perth , then on to South Africa . From there, the cruise resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9 .

Following is the amended portion of the voyage:

Those guests scheduled to originally depart or join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025 , will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9 , in Cape Town, South Africa . Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare and those joining earlier will not incur an added cost to their cruise fare. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit as a gesture of good will.

Crown Princess World Cruise Departing from Down Under, Crown Princess - the largest ship to ever host a World Cruise - is scheduled to depart Auckland May 31, 2025 ; and Sydney June 4, 2025 ; and sail on a 113-day adventure visiting 42 destinations in 22 countries, across five continents. This cruise will also bypass the Red Sea and surrounding region, including the transit of the Suez Canal. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia itinerary. The fully revised itinerary is currently being finalized and will be communicated shortly.

Osaka Welcomes Three Maiden Calls

  • April 29, 2024

Royal Princess in Osaka

The Port of Osaka welcomed three inaugural visits in April, including from Oceania’s Riviera, Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess and Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas.

The Oceania Riviera arrived on April 15 while the Serenade of the Seas arrived the next day, on April 16.

The Royal Princess made its maiden visit to Osaka on April 25, carrying approximately 3, 500 passengers.

Nearly 200 people sick in norovirus outbreaks on Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises ships

Nearly 200 people got sick in norovirus outbreaks on Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International ships.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 94 of the 2,532 guests on Sapphire Princess reported being ill during its April 5 cruise, along with 20 crew members. The round-trip cruise, which left from Los Angeles with stops in Hawaii and the South Pacific, will end on May 7, according to CruiseMapper .

On Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas, 67 of its 1,993 guests reported being ill in addition to two crew members during a cruise that ended April 22, according to the CDC . The two-week voyage sailed from Tampa, Florida to Los Angeles with stops in countries like Colombia and Panama, according to CruiseMapper .

In both outbreaks, the guests and crew members’ main symptoms were diarrhea and vomiting.

Princess, Royal Caribbean and the ships’ crews implemented heightened cleaning and disinfection measures and isolated those who were sick, among other steps, the health agency said.

"Onboard the most current sailing of Sapphire Princess, there have been a small number of cases of mild gastrointestinal illness among passengers, the cause likely is the common but contagious virus called Norovirus," a Princess spokesperson told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. "At the first sign of an increase in the numbers of passengers reporting to the medical center with gastrointestinal illness, we immediately initiated additional enhanced sanitization procedures to interrupt the person-to-person spread of this virus. Our sanitization program, developed in coordination with the CDC, includes disinfection measures, isolation of ill passengers and communication to passengers about steps they can take to stay well while onboard."

Royal Caribbean did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The CDC has logged six outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness on cruise ships that met its threshold for public notification since the beginning of the year. Norovirus was listed as the causative agent in five, while one was unknown.

The illness is often associated with cruise ships but outbreaks occur in communities on land as well, according to Dr. Sarah E. Hochman, a hospital epidemiologist and the section chief of infectious diseases at NYU Langone Health’s Tisch Hospital.

“There's not something special or unique about cruise ships,” she said. “It's really any type of congregate setting, but it's also happening out in the community on a much smaller scale among households and household contacts. It just doesn't come to the attention of public health as much as it does for larger congregate settings.”

Hochman said the virus is “incredibly infectious” and congregate settings tend to have many shared surfaces, such as handrails in cruise ship stairwells or elevators. “And so, if you just have one person who's shedding the virus and touches the surface and then someone else touches it and then touches their mouth, that's how it can spread in those types of settings.”

Cruise ship medical facilities: What happens if you get sick or injured (or bitten by a monkey)

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer isn't as effective against norovirus, and Hochman emphasized that washing hands with soap and water “will do a lot to prevent the spread.”

The news comes after more than two dozen Silversea Cruises guests got sick in a gastrointestinal illness outbreak on the luxury line’s Silver Nova ship during a sailing that began in late March.

Ninety-four guests and 20 crew members on the Sapphire Princess reported being ill during a round-trip cruise that left Los Angeles and had stops in Hawaii and the South Pacific. The cruise began April 5 and will end on May 7, according to CruiseMapper .

According to the CDC , 67 guests and two crew members reported being sick during a Royal Caribbean Radiance of the Seas cruise from Tampa to Los Angeles that ended April 22.

“At the first sign of an increase in the numbers of passengers reporting to the medical center with gastrointestinal illness, we immediately initiated additional enhanced sanitation procedures to interrupt the person-to-person spread of this virus,” a Princess spokesperson told USA Today in an emailed statement.

“Our sanitation program, developed in coordination with the CDC, includes disinfection measures, isolation of ill passengers and communication to passengers about steps they can take to stay well while onboard.”

Since January, there have been three confirmed norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships under U.S. jurisdiction, according to NBC .

Norovirus is circulating at the highest level since April 2023 in various parts of the U.S., CDC records show . The highly contagious virus is a leading cause of acute gastroenteritis, or an inflammation of the lining of the stomach and intestines. It leads to intense bouts of vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and stomach cramps.

Symptoms usually begin 12 to 48 hours after exposure. Most people will recover on their own within three days but can spread the virus for up to a week.
