Björk To Return To Australia In 2023
As part of the Perth Festival.
Björk will make her return to Australia in March 2023 to premiere her magnificent Cornucopia show at the Perth Festival.
The Icelandic legend last visited Australia in 2016 for DJ sets during Vivid LIVE. Björk's appearances next year will be her first musical performances in the country since her incredible sets at Big Day Out 2008.
An Australian exclusive at the purpose-built pavilion of Langley Park, the Cornucopia shows are described as "Björk's most elaborate production yet" on the Perth Festival website.
"Created by Icelandic pop iconoclast Björk, Cornucopia is a visually spectacular landscape of lush colours, futuristic screens and wild images of nature that comes alive with Björk's wondrous music, as she performs live alongside musicians and choirs of flutes and voices.
"Produced with an award-winning team of digital and theatrical collaborators, co-directed by Björk and based on her environmentally-themed 2017 album Utopia , Cornucopia is a sublime feast for all the senses and Björk's most elaborate production yet."
Björk's performances at the Perth Festival will be based on her 2017 avant-garde album, Utopia , with a plethora of choirs of voices and flutes enveloped in an epic immersive multimedia experience.

The New York Magazine called the Cornucopia experience "One of the most incredible displays of lights and sounds ever to grace a stage."
The tenth Björk album, Fossora , was released last month. The singular, stunning work was led by the singles Atopos and Ovule , two extravagant songs with videos to match.
Atopos , an apocalyptic dance song, sees Björk dance in a spectacular mushroom forest with her wish to "play the song loudly." On social media, she asked, "Because of the enormous importance of bass in this song, could you please play it loudly?"
Lyrically the track finds her as cryptic as ever, featuring lines like "Pursuing the light too hard is a form of hiding" and "Our union is stronger than us / Hope is a muscle," while vocally, Björk still sounds like no other artist on earth.
On the other hand, Ovule slows things down. It is an unorthodox ballad, teaming her oddball vocal delivery and patterns with a subtle low-fi beat and additional minimalist instrumentation for most of its running time.

Through her eclectic avant-garde pop infused with electronica, Björk (born November 21st, 1965) has become an international icon with her intelligent, forward-thinking music that frequently defies expectation.
Following the demise of her band, the Sugarcubes, in 1992, Björk embarked upon a solo career that would lead her to widespread critical acclaim and chart success. Yet this was not her first solo album. Björk had already released a hit record at the young age of 11, a collection of covers that found great success in her native country. The child prodigy later became lead vocalist for the Sugarcubes, whose art rock found a hit album in the US and UK after the release of "Life's Too Good" in 1988. After their break-up, Björk traveled to London, where she became interested in the burgeoning dance scene, which would inform much of her solo musical direction from there on.
In 1992, "Debut" was released, Björk's first solo venture since she was 11 years old. The album took influence from trip hop and electronica, with the likes of Tricky, Underworld and Nellee Hooper lending their production talents. The resulting album became hugely successful, peaking at number three in the UK charts, featuring a number of hit singles that found chart success globally. Björk became a runaway success, earning countless awards and accolades at the year's end.
Björk's following releases continued to find critical acclaim, most notably in the UK, spawning several remix albums of her work subsequently. In 2000, Björk was also named 'Best Actress' at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Lars Von Trier's "Dancer in the Dark." Alongside her solo efforts, Björk also created several film soundtracks, helping to diversify her work. In 2004, she released the ambitious "Medúla," an album made up entirely of vocal samples before then returning to the more beat-driven, upbeat record, "Volta" in 2007.
Björk continued to be ambitious in her scope for musical exploration, creating the concept album "Biophillia," which explored humanity's interaction with the natural world, most notably its geological landscape, and how music reflects this. The album also spawned an IMAX film, as well as a BBC 4 documentary, "When Björk met David Attenborough," further exploring this subject matter.
Forever busy, Björk appeared on a Death Grips release, on the album, "Niggas on the Moon." A live DVD of her "Biophillia" project followed shortly after in 2014, which captured Björk's ability to put on an impressive live show. In 2015, her ninth studio album was unexpectedly released after it was leaked prior on the internet, yet Björk still found critical acclaim for her highly anticipated "Vulnicura."
Live reviews
It could be argued that Björk's 2011 release 'Crystalline' was her most creative and daring collection since her career began way back in 1992. The Icelandic mega-star has always been known to push boundaries of visual media and its relation with music and this innovation remains present during her live performance.
From the percussive intro to 'Cosmogony' the sense of anticipation in the room is strong as the audience watch Björk's impressive choir ominously chant the introduction. The classic tracks such as 'Hunter' and 'Hidden Place' gain huge cheers and the performance of these influential pieces of alternative pop prove why Björk is such an iconic musician.
With such a large discography, she continuously keeps her set lists fresh and interesting by playing a variety of fan favourites as opposed to reverting straight back to the likes of 'Crying' or 'Army Of Me'. 'The Pleasure Is All Mine' sounded wonderful with a supporting choir, and 'Mouth's Cradle' was as haunting as ever.
Perhaps the oldest track performed of the evening 'Hyperballad' attains the most poignant moment as her pained vocal annunciates every lyric on this tender and beautiful ballad. The controversial 'Declare Independence' acts as the encore and the way in which Björk delivers this epic piece of power pop leaves audiences chattering about the Scandinavian star all the way into the night.

Being in the audience for a Björk performance is the modern equivalent of being one of those slack jawed scientists at the end of “Close Encounters” who stand there in amazement when the higher beings descend from above to teach us a new musical language.
Your mind melts and your synapses stretch under a slew of signals and images until you’re simply transported somewhere else.
She’s a genius.
This was the first dress rehearsal for her forthcoming world tour for her new album, Utopia and it was staged in a local cinema near to her home in Reykjavik.
We had been politely asked by Björk to refrain from taking any pictures before, during or after the show, but I can describe the set as a multi-layered combination of platforms and stages, some of which rotated while Björk or her amazing supporting artists moved from one level to another.
Those support artists are seven female flautists, who call to mind Shakespearean woodland nymphs and sprites as they jauntily run from one stage to another.
The set was dressed as a river garden, with fronds and delicate arrays of plants.
The set was around 90 minutes long, with a one song encore and no interval.
As a gig experience, it was incredibly emotional and affecting and I still find myself somewhat stunned by it now, the next day.
If you can get tickets, get them. This is not to be missed.
Björk's creativity and ability to captivate her audience is indescribable. She exudes such raw talent and a talent for entertaining her audience. She is so different and uniquely Björk that there can be no one just like her.
Her performance at each of her shows is something else. It seems as though she loves to perform and loves to bare herself to the audience.
Her voice is lovely and has a quality about it that is all her own. live is a sight to behold and her style can seem strange to some unfamiliar with her but her fans know that she just expresses herself differently. It really is something completely worthwhile to see her live and in person. The audience really appreciates her and her adorably unique voice.
She sounds dainty and tiny at first but throughout her show she gets progressively louder and more resonating and you can feel how powerful her voice can be. Everyone in the audience will be silent, you don't dare make a sound as she unfolds before your eyes and ears.
Björk is an unforgettable experience and her music, show and audience come together with such perfect clarity. She is delicate and strong and everything you would want as a performer.
Let me start off by saying that I don't like all of Björk's music but there are a few specific songs that I fell in love with and listened to nonstop at one point, and she got me through a pretty tough time in my life. So I was kind of scared that Her new album would not really be my thing, and after listening to several of its songs, I was convinced it wasn't. I bought the tickets mostly for the visuals.
My low expectations completely dissolved about 10 seconds into the concert. Björk's incredible voice in combination with her visual performance was literal magic. It was a feast for the senses - all the senses. In terms of music/movies/art I have about the emotional capacity of a brick wall, but I teared up more than once. I had to keep myself in check constantly, asking "Oh my god. Is this really happening to me right now?"
It was the fastest-moving two hours of my life. Seeing Björk live at Carnegie Hall was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I've tried to sum it up in this review but to be honest, I feel like no words could ever come close to capturing what I saw, heard, felt, and went through.
Excellent support from Lotic and Arca set the tone for a march harder, 'festival-style', beats-and-bass-oriented gig than I expected, but was utterly excited by. Did not expect to dance *so much* but it was impossible not to. Cracking setlist going as far back as Army of Me and Hunter, but still weaving in new faves like Mutual Core and of course the main body of Vulnicura. As predicted, Mouth Mantra translated pretty extraordinarily to a live set, and the pyrotechnics didn't hurt. Hyperballad was the perfect encore too. Bjork herself was on undeniably good form, but then that was never in doubt - her vocals on point, and her fun command of the stage made her feel accessible and the moments intimate despite the content being so constantly explosive and grand. Couldn't have asked for more.
A stripped down Björk with no band or choir this time, but with orchestra instead. Just her, the orchestra and the music. The first part of the performance featured on the new album 'Vulnicura' which is another masterpiece. After the brief intermission we were in more familiar territory with powerful and moving interpretations of some of her more famous songs. Jöga and Bachelorette being standout versions for me personally but sadly, no 'Pagan Poetry' in this set. After two hours of magical music from Björk, the sold out audience at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo left satisfied and amazed one again. 10/10.
The venue at Royal Arena,
My friend and I were looking for seeing the concert but everything is digital and our ticket once scan for entry not allow to scan again if you went out. So my friend has problem to come back to the concert duo to the long explain to the gate. And buying the bottle of water but is not allow to have “bottle”! They put out the water from Whole bottle of water into a cokecola paper cut. But who can drink water once in this quantity?
The sounds are amazing l!
Everything is fantastic!
But I miss to see your face - Björk
I miss to see Björk real face
I love you Björk
WRONG location!Björk is an artist you need to see. The stage was definetly too low.they should at least put a huge live screen.the first half an hour of the concert i wished i could have sit at home and listening to the cd.the sound was also very poor!
Very annoying have been also the dj before!no mention of them on the ticket....wanted to trap people there to sell food & drinks.
Saw Bjork perform at the Harpa in Reykjavik, the ticket along with the flights from the UK plus accommodation cost me a fortune, but still I have no regrets. Singing with just a string orchestra, Bjork's voice sounded as good as it ever has, and what a powerful, emotive performance from what has to be the most original artist out there.
Can't wait to see her again!

Björk will make her long-awaited return to Australia in 2023
- X (formerly Twitter)
Incomparable indie music innovator Björk will exhibit her spellbinding show Cornucopia at the Perth Festival in 2023.
This Australian exclusive concert experience will take place in a purpose built pavilion, and promises "a visually spectacular landscape of lush colours, futuristic screens and wild images of nature".
The show, based on her 2017 album Utopia , features Björk performing with choirs of flutes and voices, and promises to be an immersive multimedia experience unlike any you've witnessed so far.
Björk most recently visited us in 2016 for DJ sets as part of Vivid LIVE, however these will be Björk's first musical performances in Australia since her incredible shows as part of the Big Day Out in 2008.
This theatrical production has been broadly acclaimed by critics around the world, with some calling it "the wildest visual display in a concert that I’ve ever seen" and others proclaiming Björk's vision and execution to be "bolder than ever".
It's a coup for the Perth Festival to secure such an illustrious performance and ought to have music fans around the country considering a trip to the Western Australian capital to see this dazzling show for themselves.
Last month, Björk released her tenth studio album Fossora , a typically stunning and unique work that cements her as one of music's most innovative and singular artists.
The proclaimed "sci-fi pop concert" coming to Perth will feature songs from Fossora , as well as music from across the icon's acclaimed 30 year solo career.
Speaking with Double J's Zan Rowe, the artist said she ends up serving her audience best when creating work for herself.
"You learn very quickly that the best shows are when you are so generous that you are selfish," she said. "Or you are so selfish, that you are generous. Where these two meet at the same point.
"When you are stuck in the middle, you don't get that universal moment. If you're trying to please 10 of your friends or your partner or some niche 10,000 people out there somewhere, or music critics, or whatever, you stop the flow somehow.
"But if you are working on yourself, kind of like when you do yoga or walking, you're sort of doing it for your own wellbeing. Those moments are the ones where you actually can be the most generous, it's that sort of contradiction, which is magical."
Catch Björk playing the following shows. Tickets are on sale from 12pm AWST on Thursday 3 November.
The full Perth Festival program will be revealed on Thursday 27 October. In the meantime, grab more information about the Björk show here .

Bjork's Debut proved there's more to pop music than guitars and drums
Food & Drink
Arts & entertainment, design & style, travel & leisure, search concrete playground, bjork is bringing her dazzling 'cornucopia' shows to australia in 2023 — but only to perth.
The iconic Icelandic star will play three gigs Down Under in March, all at Perth Festival.
Since 2008, it's been oh so quiet in Australia. Since the Big Day Out that year, Icelandic icon Björk hasn't toured the country to perform full shows, only coming to Sydney to do DJ sets at Vivid in 2016. But that'll change in 2023, all thanks to the singer's Cornucopia tour; however, if you're keen to check it out — which you should be — then you'll need to make sure you're in Perth.
Perth residents, congrats — you're in for a treat, as every Björk show always is. Everyone else, heading to Western Australia should be on your must-do list on March 3, 6, 9 or 12, the dates that the star will take to the stage at Langley Park during 2023's Perth Festival .
Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton-Jones
These will be Björk's only Aussie gigs, and take place in a purpose-built, 100 metre by 55 metre pavilion at the venue — which is being badged "a cybersonic Garden of Eden where nature and technology come together in perfect harmony" — that can host almost 5000 people per evening. Expect colours, futuristic screens, a whole lot of nature imagery, stunning costumes, Björk's tunes (obviously) and a multi-sensory experience all round.
The musician's 2017 album Utopia is the focus of the Cornucopia tour and the production that goes with it, which debuted back in 2019 in Manhattan. Still, Björk has been playing a few songs from the rest of her career as part of the setlist, including 1993's 'Venus As a Boy', 1995's 'Isobel', and 2001's 'Hidden Place' and 'Pagan Poetry'.
Santiago Felipe
Fans of tunes like 'Army of Me', 'Hyperballad', 'It's Oh So Quiet', 'Violently Happy' and 'Big Time Sensuality' mightn't hear their favourite track, sorry — but the dazzling spectacle of the Cornucopia gigs, which is co-directed by acclaimed Argentinian filmmaker Lucrecia Martel ( Zama ) promises to be a sight to behold.
The tour comes to Perth after previous other stops in Mexico City, Brussels, Luxembourg, London, Glasgow, Dublin, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Los Angeles and San Francisco — and before two Tokyo gigs.
Tickets go on sale from 12pm AWST on Thursday, October 27 (for pre-sales) and 12pm AWST on Thursday, November 2 (for general sales).
As for the rest of the Perth Festival lineup — if you're looking for other things to do around Björk's shows, whether you're a local or plan to be a visitor — it's announced on Thursday, October 27.
Bjork will play Perth Festival 2023, at Langley Park, 103 Birdiya Drive, Perth, on March 3, 6, 9 and 12, 2023. Ticket pre-sales start at 12pm AWST on Thursday, October 27, with general sales from 12pm AWST on Thursday, November 2. Björk Announces Revival of Cornucopia Concert Tour and Theatrical Production
Icelandic artist and icon Björk announced that she will continue her Cornucopia world tour in 2023 with a series of arena shows across Southern Europe, Australia, Japan and the U.S.
Cornucopia debuted in 2019 as the tenth concert tour and first theatrical production by Björk. It was rolled out over eight non-consecutive days at Manhattan’s The Shed culture center, marking one of the first shows performed at the venue, which opened in April of that year. The project showcased her studio album Utopia. For the production, Björk experimented as much with staging as she did with sound with shows featuring live support from the flute group Viibra and a 50-person choir, as well as dynamic digital and analog visuals.
In a statement, Björk shared her intentions for the future of the production. She wrote,“cornucopia was always intended to be a world for both Utopia and the album after that, which is now out there called Fossora [released Sept. 30, 2022] … . so i am truly excited to premier those 2 worlds colliding, this autumn in southern Europe.”
The 2023 iteration of Cornucopia will premiere in March with a four-show residency in Perth, Australia, followed by orchestral performances in Japan. Björk is also slated to perform an orchestral show on Coachella’s festival stage in April.
The official tour will begin in Lisbon, Portugal, on Sept. 1 and will include performances in Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Germany, and Switzerland. The concert series will conclude back in France on Dec. 5.
View the full performance schedule below. Tickets for Cornucopia 2023 will be available on Friday, Feb. 3, and can be purchased here .

Björk wraps her soul with Virtual Reality at Carriageworks for Vivid Sydney
- June 3, 2016
- Carriageworks
- Vivid Sydney
Adorned in a steampunk-esque head-piece made of gold wire and pearls, pioneering Icelandic artist and musician Björk addressed a small group of media ahead of her collaboration with Carriageworks and Vivid Sydney , an exhibition titled BJÖRK DIGITAL . “The music came first and it kind of had that sense of urgency about it,” she said, making reference to her universally acclaimed 2015 record Vulnicura , on which she has based much of the works in this current exhibition. “We then started to develop several visual things, and we just decided to surf that wave and let it be what it is”.
Those “visual things” she refers to have been wrapped with recent advances in technology, particularly Virtual Reality, to create the strange and wonderful immersive experiences that feature throughout BJÖRK DIGITAL, a project that has taken over the many spaces of Carriageworks and will be accessible to the public from the 4th to the 18th of June, as part of Vivid Sydney.
The exhibition is a build on last year’s wild display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, but also including two world premiere VR works that further the artist’s expression through the epic scope of these developing technologies. Described as “immersive, large-scale, and intimate” the digital video works and VR experiences have been created by Björk in collaboration with some of the most progressive visual artists, film makers, and programmers in the world, threaded throughout the many spaces in Sydney’s transformative hub, sitting alongside extra treats like a cinema playing through selected pieces from Björk’s rich history of music videos, remastered with full 5.1 surround sound, showcasing the works of various film directors who have collaborated with her, including Academy Award winners from Spike Jones and Michel Gondry to Nick Knight and Stéphane Sednaoui .
“It was actually a gradual development”, said Björk when asked about the origin of and idea behind this exhibition. “VR was kind of developing all around me… it became slowly apparent that this was something that would be a very natural home for [ Vulnicura ].
In working last year’s album, which she wrote in response to the breakdown of her marriage to performance artist Matthew Barney , into this exhibition Björk recalls getting to know the “character” of the very “specific format” that is Virtual Reality. “I was fascinated by how it both captures intimacy so well. You can be even more intimate than you are in a video or at a live concert. It’s just so penetrative…[no wonder] the porn industry has embraced it the way it has – it’s full penetration,” she laughs.
“I just thought as a musician, that’s a really exciting toy to have, to be able to be that intimate with someone.”
And indeed some of these virtual reality works are very intimate, one even taking you inside of Björk’s mouth ( Mouth Mantra by Director Jesse Kandra ), speaking to the various ways she has used this still young technology to bring in new perspectives to her music, accentuating certain parts of the drama and tragedy that permeates Vulnicura .
360 degree technology has also been drawn upon heavily in the video for Stonemilker , one of the highlight cuts from the album, which in the exhibition is illustrated as a windswept 360 degree film shot on location in Iceland by award winning Director Andrew Huang . 360 degree tech, to Björk, is “maybe wagnerian or like an opera” where “you can really play with the scale in the most theatrical way. More theatrical than film I think…potentially”.
Where these various advances in technology are taking the world is exciting to Björk; she lights up when talking about the unknown aspects of these tools, describing it as “this pioneer universe where people are still discovering things; they’re bumping into walls, making mistakes, having to discover new things they never had before.” To her, it’s a “natural continuity” of the music video.
These technologies also give Björk ways of transposing and channeling her love of nature, a great example being Black Lake , one of the installations that is seeing it’s Australian premiere after being commissioned by MoMA. Huang also handles the direction on this one, filming Björk in the highlands of Iceland and on a volcanic rock, resulting in a cinematic experience which has been split onto two screens that surround visitors in a pitch-black room, bolstered by a cutting-edge high fidelity sound system that helps the experience wrap the audience in the intended claustrophobic and visceral experience of Black Lake.
“It’s really close to where I live”, says Björk when asked about filming in this very natural environment. “It was slowly apparent that this album was all about going back home and healing, so it sort of had to have lava and Iceland nature in it – the sort of baron one…to kind of exaggerate the emotional state of heartbreak, which Iceland is very good at. So that’s kind of why we ended up using Iceland almost as a character in most of the movies.”
Also as part of the exhibition, visitors will get a chance to interact with and explore Björk’s immersive multi-media educational experience Biophilia , which is an app – the first to ever be purchased into the permanent collection of MoMA – that blends original music and interactive artworks with musicology, built by the artist in collaboration with designers, scientists, instrument makers, writers, and software developments, focused on exploration of the universe and its physical forces, processes, and structures. It speaks to Björk’s fascination with the pedagogical uses of technology.
When asked about the origins of the application, which for the past two years has been included in the curriculum in schools across Scandinavia – Björk says it began when she was working with touch screens during her world tour for Volta. “We were just using [them] to play live, but I was like ‘wow, now I can write music on this, this is finally an opportunity for me to map out musicology’, kind of how I wanted to do it as a kid in school, because I thought learning musicology from a book was just offense to sound”
“So I started mapping out each element in musicology – rhythm, counterpoint, chords, and so on – to whatever natural element was similar to it, in order for kids to get it quickly. For example, arpeggios are the same shape as lightning, so if the kid sees the lightning and hears the arpeggios at the same time, they get it, instead of reading it for 10 hours. That was the whole idea.”
Seeing as the app has been so embraced by local schools for the past two years, Björk has worked with teachers to gather information and data from Biophilia , something she says she will continue to do in order to make decisions about what to do next with it. In fact, they have collected enough information and experience to start making an advanced version of the app, which she jokes will likely be called something other than “Biophilia 2”.
The various applications of VR (and other tech) are important for artists to embrace, according to Björk: “Part of me, I’m very conservative and I like Icelandic old melodies and I’m very connected with the land; there’s a part of me that’s very pro-nature, but there’s also part of me that’s a bit of a magpie, I like shiny objects. I also think new technologies are an opportunity to update us on what is happening right now, in the world. Like it or not [groups] like armies, the military, governments, Google, the big brother…everybody is going to embrace it, so for artists to stick their head in the ground and say ‘I’m not going to’ I think that just means that there will be no things with the craft that will have humanity and will have soul. So I think it’s important for us to embrace, so we are on the same plane as the politicians, as the military folks and business money people.”
“The morality doesn’t come wrapped up into the new inventions, or the soul, or the humanity…we have to put it there.”
Playing with developing technology is also a means to push yourself and energise your creative side for Björk, who thinks that as an artist “[technology] brings out an interesting side in [you], while something is still being discovered it’s kind of like you’re entering the unknown and you can’t fall into old habits or old traps and just do things like how you’ve always done them. It shakes you up and you have to go kind of like blindfolded into the unknown, and discover not what you were 10 years ago but what you are now.”
“I think it’s very helpful, and I also think especially as a pop musician, I think there’s a certain duty to be using the same tools that we are using everyday – like texting your lovers or going on Facebook, this kind of everyday life – that should be the same tools that you are writing your songs with. It’s easy to kind of go back to the acoustic wooden things and close your eyes and decide that the world is evil, and ‘I’m not going to take part in it and I’m just going to go back into my cave and write my acoustic number.’
It’s just as well then that Björk is now part of Vivid Sydney history, being that the festival is all about artists wrapping pieces of themselves into new technologies and expressing them in unique, interesting ways. “I’m very impressed with this festival”, says says, likening it to Iceland’s own Iceland Airwaves in a loose comparison because it’s a festival that uses the city (of Reykjavík) as a canvas (albeit mostly for music) as “it’s not like you have to do a billion things in 48 hours and always feel guilty about missing something. I like that feeling that you walk around and then you bump into people and meet and make new friends. I think it’s a really natural, organic way to do it.”
To celebrate the opening of this very special exhibition, Björk will be curating two nights of music for fans at Carriageworks, DJ’ing through two extensive sets (both sold out; Friday 4th and Saturday 5th June), which is a rare treat for those who want to tap further into the artist’s free-thinking and experimental approach to music.
“I always DJ’d just for friends and then it sort of slowly became this part of me that maybe taps into when I was a kid”, explained Björk. ““I always wanted to have my own radio show — where I wanted to tell people about music like ‘Oh my God, this is really rare 70s (track) — they only gave out like three copies in Guatemala’ Just show off, you know, and be the David Attenborough of music hunting…You can expect some sort of a journey through my record collection.”
BJÖRK DIGITAL will run from Saturday 4th to Saturday 18th June at Carriageworks. Entry to the exhibition is free, but timed tickets or bookings are required for the VR rooms. Bookings are available online and onsite same-day. VR rooms are recommended for ages 13 years and over. Access to the Cinema Room is free and requires no bookings.

Thed Björk heads Cyan Racing 1-2-3-4 in red-flagged first Sydney practice
By TouringCarTimes
Thed Björk headed a dominant Lynk & Co Cyan Racing 1-2-3-4 in the first free practice session of the combined TCR World Tour and TCR Australia weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, a session which was red-flagged once.
The Swede lapped the Australian circuit in 1:35.2179, beating team-mate Yann Ehrlacher by 0.0733 while Santiago Urrutia was third and Ma Qing Hua fourth.
The red flags came out towards the end of the session as GRM Peugeot driver Kody Garland went off at Turn 1 with a suspected mechanical failure, sustaining front-end damage.
The session was restarted with three minutes left on the clock.
Hyundai driver Mikel Azcona was fifth fastest, 0.2826 seconds from the top time, with the Comtoyou Audi duo of Frédéric Vervisch and Rob Huff in positions six and seven.
Lynk & Co driver Tom Oliphant was fastest of the TCR Australia drivers in eighth position, 0.6852 seconds from Björk’s time.
Will Brown (Audi) and Tony D’Alberto (Honda) rounded off the top ten, seven and nine tenths of a second behind respectively.
The second free practice session starts at 15:50 local time/05:50 CET.

Thed Björk leads the way in both opening practice sessions in Sydney
Cyan Racing’s Thed Björk was the fastest driver in both practice sessions for the TCR Australia / TCR World Tour at Syndey Motorsport Park, heading Yann Ehrlacher and Santiago Urrutia in the two sessions respectively.
In the opening session, Swede Björk was seven tenths quicker than team-mate Ehrlacher with a lap of 1 minute 35.218 seconds, as the TCR World Tour entrants occupied the top seven places in the classification.
Björk then went even faster in second practice, posting a lap of 1:34.757 to beat Urrutia by 0.116 seconds as the Lynk & Co cars once again occupied the top two positions.
Urrutia had earlier been third quickest in the opening session, with Ma Qing Hua making it a Cyan Racing 1-2-3-4 at the top of the times early in the weekend.
Mikel Azcona was fifth quickest in FP1, 0.283 seconds off the pace, with the BRC Racing Hyundai driver then improving in FP2 to close in to just under two tenths off the pace in third.
The leading Audi driver in both sessions was Comtoyou Racing’s Frédéric Vervisch, sixth and fifth respectively in the two sessions, the Belgian failing to improve his time in the second session.
Rob Huff was the fastest Brit, putting his Audi immediately behind Vervisch in first practice, but the Comtoyou driver was half a second slower in FP2 and only 14 th .
The best of the TCR Australia drivers in FP1 was Ashley Seward Motorsport’s Tom Oliphant in eighth, but come second practice the honour went to MPC’s Will Brown, who ultimately posted the fastest lap by a TCR Australia out of the two sessions on his way to seventh in FP2, just over a second slower than Björk.
Michael Clemente has had to withdraw from the weekend’s action due to a lack of budget, with the TCR Australia CUPRA driver targeting a return for next weekend’s season finale at Bathurst instead.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 18:00 local time (08:00 CET, 07:00 GMT), followed by race one at 20:40 local time (10:40 CET, 09:40 GMT) on Friday.
