Do you ever think you could stand amongst life-size dinosaurs?  Well, until someone gets a time machine going, you may think there is no way.  But guess what?  There is!  And that way is to visit Dino Safari in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Dino Safari is a walk-through expedition that the whole family can enjoy.  The highlight is the life-size animatronic dinosaurs that even move as if they are real.  So, not quite a time machine experience, but pretty awesome.

But Dino Safari is more than just the animatronic dinosaurs.  You’ll also get to dig up fossils as if you are a real paleontologist.  There are interactive exhibits and educational displays.  You’ll learn about cutting-edge research.  And there’s even a Sauropod Slide guests can take turns sliding down!

It usually takes about thirty to forty-five minutes to walk through the whole experience.  But you can go through the exhibit at your own speed and take more or less time.

Dino Safari takes place on Lower-Level 3 at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino.  Horseshoe Hotel and Casino is a hotel in the center of the Las Vegas Strip.  It is the hotel’s new name (you may remember it as Bally’s).  Horseshoe Hotel and Casino offers guests so many great features, and not just the casino.  There are multiple restaurants, shows, nightlife options, a pool, shops, and more.  You can find some deals for the hotel here .

But even if you don’t stay at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino, Dino Safari is really convenient for anyone visiting the Las Vegas Strip or staying on the Las Vegas Strip.

Dino Safari, a Local’s Review

If you haven’t heard, Dino Safari has made it’s way to Las Vegas as a permanent exhibit at the Horseshoe Hotel & Casino, formerly Bally’s! We were graciously hosted by Dino Safari to check out this attraction, however, all opinions below are our own – so without further ado, here’s our review of the experience.

Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure

In this walk-through adventure, visitors will meet and interact with more than 30 dinosaurs. The thrilling adventure will feature captivating virtual reality technology, spectacular installations and interactive activities for children of all ages.

Horseshoe Hotel and Casino 3645 Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109

Dino Safari is located at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino, formerly Bally’s. If you are a local, you can score free self-parking for the first three hours as long as you have a Nevada ID in the parking garage which is a combined parking garage for Paris Hotel and Horseshoe Hotel.

The parking garage is NOT located at the front entrance of the hotel, so when inputting it into your GPS make sure you map to the Paris / Horseshoe parking garage.

10am – 8pm, Daily

Guests may arrive at any time on the date selected; however, entry into the exhibition may be delayed during busy periods to allow for the best experience for all attendees. Last admission is at 7pm.

Children 2 and under are FREE and any individual ages 3 and older requires a ticket for admission. Group pricing for 10+ is available.

Pros and Cons

Here are some things we liked and didn’t like about our experience.

• Very educational, especially for homeschool families and adults (I like that all ages can enjoy!)
• Experience is very high quality, not like the cheap dinosaur pop-ups you typically see come through town, very impressed
• Prices are very affordable for the experience
• VIP Mystery Bag is worth it if you are planning on spending money in the gift shop
• The interactive area for kids was a great bonus
• Finding the exhibit was very difficult since it is new – tips on how to get there below
• Dino ride tickets are extra ($5 each) and not worth it, in my opinion

Tips for Your Visit

Dino Ride is Not Worth It

Dino ride is additional $5, but it is a very short and slow dino ride, so not recommended for those looking for something fast! There is a free dinosaur slide, fossil digging, and drawing stations inside.

Finding the Exhibit

Exhibit is NEW and hard to find as there are no signs. It’s located on the pool level (under casino level) and next to the Real Bodies exhibit. Park and take elevators to Casino level and turn right to head to hotel room elevators, take the second set of elevators to the Pool level and it’s there!

Stroller & Babywearing Friendly

This experience is stroller and babywearing-friendly . We brought our Mockingbird stroller with zero issues. There was enough space for our stroller and our family member’s Wonderfold Wagon. Also babywearing is very easy here as well.

Note that if you do bring a stroller, you will have to use elevators to get to your experience.

On average, it takes about 30-45 minutes to walk through the entire experience. It took us about 45 minutes with 2 kids and 2 babies, however, we could have stayed even longer to read each of the educational signs on each dinosaur.

It was not busy during our visit and we did not feel rushed at all.

What is Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure?

This walk-through attraction was created by Atlanta -based Imagine Exhibitions (the same people who produced Harry Potter: The Exhibition ) in collaboration with Ph.D. Dinosaur Paleontologist Gregory M. Erickson .

The exhibit features realistic animatronic dinosaurs, scientific exploration, and fun interactive elements to immerse you in the prehistoric world of the dinosaur.

Ready to take a step back in time? Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure is currently showing in Las Vegas at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino .

My Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure Review

The Dino Safari walk-thru experience begins with a passport to Pangea . We received this small passport booklet and a crayon. Inside the passport is a scavenger hunt of different dinosaurs, unique features, and plant life for us to find and check off as we walked through the exhibit.

You can also scan a QR code at the beginning of the experience to get access to an audio guide and music that will add to your safari experience. It’s not necessary to use the audio guide, but it’s great if you’ve got someone who wants to learn all the things about dinosaurs.

The journey through Pangea (the giant contiguous landmass that all the continents used to be a part of) is broken out into the continents we’re familiar with today. We learned about what each continent would have been like as part of Pangea and saw the dinosaurs that were native to that area.

We got to meet some of our favorite dinosaurs and even discovered a few we hadn’t even heard of.

And one of the best parts was that we got to take a picture with the T. Rex !

At the end of the experience was a “ fun zone ” where we got to do an interactive digital coloring game that brought our drawing to life, “feed” dinosaurs in a corn-hole-type game, play on an balancing course, race against a dinosaur, and put together a dinosaur puzzle.

The experience exits into the gift shop, naturally, where you can buy dinosaur toys, candy, clothes, and stuffed animals.

This is also where the Virtual Reality simulators were located, where you can go on additional adventures like flying through the mountains, a thrill ride in the city, and bungee jumping over a canyon. We did the bungee, roller coaster, and flying simulators, and they were okay. I’m not a huge fan of VR simulators because I get motion sick.

What Was Great About the Experience

The displays were great. I loved the animatronic dinosaurs and the traveling theme with the passport, vintage postcard displays, and grouping the dinosaurs by region.

The interactive elements were a nice touch. There was a dinosaur slide, a small tunnel to crawl through between two exhibits, a sandbox archaeological dig, and some small jungle balancing courses. Just a lot of little fun things for the kids.

The workers were all very nice and helped add to the safari experience. One even took a bunch of amazing pictures for us with the T. Rex!

What Was Not So Great

We were confused about the scale of the dinosaurs. I came into this thinking they were all mostly life-sized, then we started noticing that some of the small dinosaurs were displayed really big, including the smallest dinosaur that was scaled up to like 8 feet tall. And of course some of the large dinosaurs had to be scaled down.

Mostly I didn’t like that the small ones were suddenly larger-than-life; I’m used to dinosaurs being big, so I would have loved the comparison against the life-sized small dinosaurs.

Not a huge thing, but the Virtual Reality simulator wasn’t dinosaur-themed , just thrill- and adrenaline-themed. Maybe there was a dino-themed option, but we got put on bungee, trill ride, and flying simulators. So I just didn’t really see the point of a non-dinosaur VR add-on.

Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure Tickets & Info

Location: Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure is currently on display in Las Vegas at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino .

The experience takes about 60-90 minutes to walk through. It is a free-flowing experience, so you can take your time going through at your leisure.

Admission: Tickets for Dino Safari cost $20 for children ages 4-12 and $23 for adults 13+. You can get a Group discount, or add-ons like a Dino Fun Package, a Photo Package, a VIP Mystery Bag, or a Family Pack.

A complimentary audio guide accessible on a smart phone is available with your ticket. There are QR codes for you to scan on site that will take you to the audio tour. Feel free to bring your headphones.

Hours: Dino Safari is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Your tickets are valid for entry at any time during operating hours on your selected date.

Non-flash photography is allowed and encouraged.

What age is dino safari for.

I’d say Dino Safari is best for younger kids (especially those in their dinosaur era!). Adults can enjoy it, too, and the experience is appropriate for all ages. But elementary aged kids seem to enjoy it best.

How long is Dino Safari in Atlanta?

Dino Safari is no longer available in Atlanta. The experience is now located in Las Vegas at the Horseshoe Hotel & Casino.

How long do people spend at Dino Safari?

You can expect to spend 1 hour to 1.5 hours walking through Dino Safari.

Is the Dino Safari worth it?

If you have a kiddo who loves dinosaurs (or you’re a dino-lover yourself), the Dino Safari is absolutely worth it!

Orlando LuminoCity Dino Safari

This outdoor attraction sits under the night sky in Orlando at The Florida Mall, and welcomes visitors with amazing light-up sculptures of beloved dinosaurs, mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and more. The two exhibition areas, Dino Safari and Ice Age Adventure, features more than 50 life-sized animated dinosaur and animal light sculptures. Many of these dinosaurs roar, move, and tower over guests, offering a unique look into millennia gone by.

Your family may come for the terrifyingly beautiful dinosaurs, but will stay for the hands-on attractions at Dino Safari! This year's activities includes a dino fossil hunt and safari dig, the Jungle Explorer Playground, Dino Speedway, and the Oviraptor Ride (for adults and kids). 

LuminoCity Dino Safari Orlando offers special theme nights, where visitors can dress in costumes and unleash their inner paleotologist, adventurer, or even T. Rex! Check the event website to find out when these days are scheduled.

If you want to take a little piece of the dinosaur-themed event home with you, visit the Lumi giftshop, where families can shop for souvenirs, toys, and of course, stuffed dinosaurs.

LuminoCity Dino Safari: Know Before You Go

• LuminoCity Dino Safari is located at The Florida Mall, 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL. The event runs May 17 - June 16, 2024.
• The festival opens daily, 4:30-9:30pm. The event lasts approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your family's pace of exploration.
• Ticket prices range from $16-$20 per person. Children age 3 and under are FREE. The event is stroller friendly.
• Hungry visitors can head to the food and relaxation zone, with food trucks and restroom facilities. Guests are allowed to bring snacks and beverages into the event, just not into the individual amusement activities.
• It's recommended to purchase tickets in advance, but you can also buy tickets at the door.

Dino Safari: A new walk-thru dinosaur experience at North Point Mall takes you back to prehistoric ages

A new immersive dinosaur experience promises to transport kids and families back to the prehistoric age! Dino Safari: A Walk-Thru Adventure is running through February 26, 2023 at North Point Mall in Alpharetta.

Dino Safari features 30 life-sized, realistic, animatronic dinosaurs — including the T.rex of North America and the Spinosaurus from Africa. Each dinosaur is displayed in a replica of its natural habitat.

The exhibit also offers hands-on challenges for visitors to solve, virtual reality experiences, and an interactive space for children.

Dino Safari was created by Atlanta-based Imagine Exhibitions, in a collaboration with world-renowned paleontologist Gregory M. Erickson.

Know before you go

The exhibit runs Wednesday through Sunday in most weeks.

Tickets are for timed entry. The first time slot is 11 a.m. and the last one starts at 4:30 p.m.

The experience takes about 60 to 75 minutes to walk through. You can also spend time in the gift shop.

It is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages — meaning, it’s not too scary for little kids.

You should buy tickets online in advance to ensure availability. Walk-ups can only be accommodated as space allows.

Tickets are just $15 for adults and kids (there is sales tax and a $2 convenience fee.) Children under 2 are admitted for free. Click here for tickets

Our little ones LOVE dinosaurs. I esp love that our little girl does as well. I used to think that dinosaurs were a boy thing (we have an older boy) but I am so glad to see that our girl loves them too! Maybe we have a future palentologist? This looks great – educational and fun! My child has loved dinosaurs since they were a toddler and they are now a teen and still interested in attending.
