It’s BACK!!! The Unofficial Guide to the Disney Cruise Line 2022

The Unofficial Guide to the Disney Cruise Line for 2022 is now available to provide readers with updated information on what they may need to know in order to plan for an upcoming Disney Cruise. After a brief hiatus, the 2022 edition returns updated and enhanced with new information from Erin Foster along with insight from Len Testa, and Ritchey Halphen.

At this time, the world of cruising remains dynamic in terms of what cruisers need to know before, during, and after a cruise. We are in uncharted waters with regular policy and procedural changes. To address this, the authors added COVID Tips sprinkled in like pixie dust.

Similar to the Unoffical Tips , the COVID Tips aim to offer insight on aspects of the cruise that may be temporary due to the phased re-opening approach, or even possibly a new normal. The Covid Tips are an enhancement to the subject matter on the page.

The authors created an update mechanism for readers to check changes – there is a short weblink (URL) mentioned multiple times in the guide which is updated as on a regular basis. As of this writing, one of the authors is currently on a Disney Cruise and will have a number of updates posted in the near future.

There is early information on the Disney Wish, but at this point, we are all limited to the information provided by Disney Cruise Line. As a result, several members of the Unoffical Guide team are booked on early Wish sailings. The authors will provide additional Wish info on the book’s update page as it becomes available and share their own evaluations once they have a chance to experience the ship.

Some of the highlights in the 2022 edition include:

• Advice for first-time cruisers: money-saving strategies, packing tips and other pre-trip preparation, preferred ships and itineraries, and how to hit the deck running your first day on board
• Suggestions for deciding whether a Disney Cruise or a Walt Disney World vacation is the better choice for your family
• The scoop on different stateroom types and how to choose the best room for your needs
• Detailed descriptions of Disney Cruise Line’s ports of call around the world, including Hawaii
• In-depth coverage of Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private Bahamian island: what to take along, where to eat, and the best activities for families
• What to do on a day at sea
• A discussion of Adventures by Disney river cruises and how they compare with Disney Cruise Line cruises

The Unofficial Guide is not a brochure for Disney Cruise Line, the guide is set up as a no-nonsense, consumer orientated planning guide based on the authors’ personal cruise experience as fare paying guests. There are plenty of websites and other publications that will rehash the company line. The information and suggestions are what you’d expect to hear from a close friend or family member, not a salesperson.

Competition in the cruise market is a great win for cruisers. With growing fleets, and destinations, there is an unending number of ships and itineraries to navigate though when planning a cruise vacation. Arguably, Disney’s biggest rival in the cruise market is Royal Caribbean. Matt Hochberg from the RoyalCaribbeanBlog.com once again shares his unique comparison breaking down the cruise lines in different areas such as who has the better dining, theming, and entertainment to name a few. This is a great starting off point for anyone on the fence about which cruise line you want to sail for your vacation.

My favorite part of the book… Well, it’s obvious! The Scott Says blurbs continue to be my favorite aspect of the publication.

The Unofficial Guide to Disney Cruise Line 2022 hit bookshelves this month, and is available at your local book stores, as well the usual online retailers such as  Amazon.com , Barnes & Noble , and Books-a- Million .

These Unofficial Guide books are great. I bought my first one on Disneyland back in 1988 and I still have it. Mostly for nostalgia…. Rides no longer there kind of thing. My last edition on DCL is the 2019 book. There are a lot of great tips, whether you are first timer or multiple times as we have been. Mainly its nice to get some one else’s opinion or I should say perspective.

Summer 2022 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries

Disney Cruise Line has released itineraries through Summer 2022! There are sailings to great new destinations and popular ports of call in the Greek Isles, Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean. In this post, we’ll take a look at the awesome options, followed by commentary on pricing, our recommended destinations, and why we’ll be booking on opening day instead of waiting for a deal.

Note that “opening day” booking for the general public will begin on March 25, 2021. Prior to that, there will be a staggered advance booking period beginning next Monday. Here’s the eligibility timeline:

• March 22, 2021 — Platinum Castaway Club Members, Golden Oak Club Residents
• March 23, 2021 — Gold Castaway Club Members
• March 24, 2021 — Silver Castaway Club Members, Disney Vacation Club Members, Adventures by Disney Insiders
• March 25, 2021 – All Guests

If you’re an existing member, Disney Cruise Line recommends that you log in to your account now to verify your Castaway Club status, so you’ll be all set to book on your designated date. You can also call (866) 784-1592 starting at 8:00 AM Eastern Time, or contact your travel agent.

Another thing to note is that the Disney Wish is scheduled to sail its maiden voyage in Summer 2022. However, it’s not included in this itinerary release. Disney Cruise Line promises bookings and info for the Wish will be released at a later date.

By process of elimination, we’re pretty confident it’ll be taking over the shorter Bahamas cruises out of Port Canaveral. On the one hand, we really want to experience the Disney Wish. On the other hand, I’ve had my fill of those itineraries for a while. Back to the first hand, we really do miss Castaway Cay, and getting back there plus a new ship will probably win out.

Summer 2022 will bring a new collection of Disney Cruise Line destinations as part of the Disney Magic’s grand tour of Europe. This will begin with sailings through the Greek Isles and Mediterranean before heading to Northern Europe for cruises to the Baltic, British Isles, Iceland, and the Norwegian Fjords. Five new ports of call in Europe include Chania, Greece; Porto, Portugal; Riga, Latvia; Maloy, Norway; and Nynashamn, Sweden, which is near Stockholm.

From Rome, cruises to Greece will whisk families to the beautiful landscapes and archeological wonders of Piraeus, the gateway to Athens, and to the spectacular Greek islands of Santorini and Mykonos. One 9-night sailing will mark Disney Cruise Line’s first call to Chania, Greece on the island of Crete, known for its charming harbor.

Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona, Spain, will visit a mix of must-see locales including Rome and Naples, plus French Riviera coastal towns like Villefranche (pictured above) and Cannes. During a 7-night cruise from Barcelona to Dover, England, Disney Cruise Line will make its first-ever visit to Porto, Portugal, a coastal city with old-world charm.

Additional new ports of call in northern Europe include Riga, the capital of Latvia and the largest metropolis in the Baltics; Nynashamn, Sweden, a beautiful seaside town just outside Stockholm; and Maloy, Norway, a charming coastal village bordered by silver-sand beaches and historic lighthouses.

For the first time ever, families can sail out of Miami during the summer season. Every cruise from Miami in the summer of 2022 features a stop at Castaway Cay. The June 7 voyage will be the Disney Dream’s inaugural cruise from Miami–the ship has previously only home ported in Port Canaveral.

In addition to visiting Castaway Cay, 3-4 night cruises from Miami will call on Nassau, Bahamas, while 5-night cruises include a stop at either Grand Cayman or Cozumel, Mexico. One special five-night sailing features two stops at Castaway Cay, along with a call on Nassau.

Itineraries to the Caribbean and Bahamas continue aboard the Disney Fantasy from Port Canaveral. Each Disney Fantasy voyage features a visit to Castaway Cay. This ship will embark on an assortment of itineraries to the eastern and western Caribbean throughout the summer of 2022, including 7-night voyages, a special 5-night sailing, and an extended 9-night cruise.

The 9-night Disney Fantasy cruise features a first-time call on Roseau, Dominica, an eastern Caribbean destination filled with natural hot springs, waterfalls, and tropical rainforests. This mountainous island is bordered by pristine beaches and crystal clear water.

The Disney Wonder will return to Alaska for the 2022 summer season to explore the region’s breathtaking natural vistas, glaciers, and wildlife. These 7-night sailings depart from Vancouver, Canada and most will visit Dawes Glacier, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. Two of the cruises will call on Icy Strait Point in place of Skagway.

If you’re looking for a recommendation, pretty much everyone who has done one will shower the Alaska itineraries with praise. To be sure, that’s one of the better trips we’ve taken. It’s also pretty approachable.

However, our all-time favorite cruise is the Norwegian Fjords itinerary–by a pretty wide margin. We cover the similarities and differences in Norway v. Alaska Cruises , but the bottom line is that for us, Norway was much better. Others we know who have done both give the edge to Alaska–you really can’t go wrong either way.

Although we haven’t done it as a cruise, we absolutely love the French Riviera. Villefranche-sur-Mer is one of the most gorgeous harbors I’ve ever seen, and it’s a 15 minute train ride from Monaco. Not seeing James Bond at the Monte Carlo Casino was sorta a bummer, but Monaco is otherwise a fantastic, highly-recommended place.

Much like Walt Disney World on discount drop day, Disney Cruise Line’s phones will be jammed and the online system will likely slow to a crawl at peak times. Please do not exacerbate this by calling on a day before you’re eligible; they won’t make an exception and let you cut the line. It’ll just waste everyone’s time, including yours.

It’s always a good idea to use an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner to do the work for you, but especially for opening day bookings. For one thing, using them to book your cruise is a great way to save time and stress. For another, their services are free to you since they’re paid commission by DCL on the reservation.

Every year opening day price-points make waves on social media once they’re available to book for Platinum Castaway Club members, as prices always jump. This is not really a surprise at this point, but it’s nonetheless easy to be taken aback when first seeing each year’s prices…especially if you remember what prices were 5 years ago.

With that said, it’s worth noting that opening day stateroom rates are largely on the lower end of the historical pricing spectrum. As itineraries start to book up and stateroom inventory becomes more scarce, rates invariably increase. Pricing is demand-based, with cruises in recent years rarely decreasing in price–increases are far more common.

We’ve scored some good deals on Disney Cruise Line over the years (and cover how you can do the same in our How to Save Money on Disney Cruise Line Sailings post), but have had less luck in the last couple of years. We do not expect that this trend will change with the Disney Cruise Line itineraries. If you’re planning on taking one of the popular cruises, booking early is definitely the most pragmatic route!

With the sailings out of Florida–especially Port Canaveral–the odds of prices dropping are stacked against you. There’s probably a 90% chance that opening day prices are the cheapest that those sailings will ever be.

For what it’s worth, we plan on following our own advice here. There are several itineraries we’re eyeing, but the ones that really stick out include stops in St. Petersburg. That’s a bucket list city for us, and a cruise seems like the ideal way to accomplish that. We’d also love to visit Oslo–still need to touch that viking ship to awaken the Spirit of Norway.

My suspicion is that there’s a lot of pent-up demand for cruising and, unlike theme parks, insufficient stateroom inventory to absorb all of that. There are a lot of avid cruisers, and most will have gone nearly 2 years without sailing once cruising finally resumes. On top of that, a lot of people are going to be getting stimulus checks and/or have unspent vacation budgets from the last year that they won’t mind burning on cruise reservations next week.

Being frugal by nature, I’ll still cringe at the itinerary prices, but I’ll find a way to justify it to myself. In part, I have absolutely no faith in scoring a last-minute deal given the pent-up demand, record personal savings rate, and stimulus. Also in part, we really want to take another European cruise. (Maybe I’ll just let Sarah book the cruise and never tell me what it cost. Ignorance is bliss. )

With zero international travel, only one trip to Disneyland last year, and a couple of hotel stays at Walt Disney World, we spent a fraction of our normal budget last year. It’s looking less and less likely that Japan or Europe will be reopening borders anytime soon, so that’ll probably be true (albeit hopefully to a lesser degree) again this year. That’ll also make it easier to justify whatever these absurd prices end up being. I’m not looking forward to overpaying for a vacation, but I’m looking forward to a vacation enough that I’m willing to overpay for one!

I’ve seen gorgeous photos of Porto. That would be a stop I would love to do.

We have enjoyed The Viking river cruises. They have Ocean cruises too. All include shore excursion each stop. Also wine and beer with lunch and dinner. Free wifi. No nickle and diming. We did A Rhine River Cruise and a Danube Cruise. Both were great.

Has anyone done the British isles cruise? We’ve done Alaska and loved it. This year we are deciding between Norway and the British isles. Any opinions?

Norway if you’ve never been. But you can’t go wrong in either direction.

I don’t like to talk too much online in public about my past but for a couple of years in the nineties and again in mid 2000’s I worked extensively on cruise ships (stand up). Alaska or the Fjords of Norway…Both are incredible experiences, so amazing that they can leave one feeling closer to God. But to really appreciate those trips one MUST also get off the ship. Hike, kayak, go whale watching, explore cities that are a 900 years old. The first time you sail through Fjords tops watching glaciers cave but after that they’re pretty equal in astounding views and experiences that are intellectual, emotional, social, romantic and religious all at the same time! I don’t like discussing this out in the open but there are two things you should do, besides putting together a photo book, which I would gladly assist you with. Put together a DTB cruise (I’ve got some great ideas for that) and a short one day WDW get together/gathering with your readers. I know you claim to be on the shy side but with a good well thought out itinerary once you get past Hello you’ll find it’s easier done than said.

Has anyone ever taken a cruise from NY? We live close to NY and would love to take a cruise from there and back on Disney. I have seen prices but I don’t think they have anything out yet for next year to sail out of NY.

I also agree. Norway crushes Alaska by a mile. Geiranger fjords is easily one of my most favorite sail-ins to any port in the world.

Not really that much more difficult to get to Europe if you are on the east coast as well. For the west coasters Alaska is an easy trip but for those on the east coast it’s not that big of a difference to just head across the pond.

Totally agree with this, but for many people it’s a mental barrier. Traveling to Vancouver is not as intimidating as Copenhagen or Dover. Personally, I think that’s irrational, but it is what it is.

No Galveston departures? That makes me sad as we are close enough to drive there. Adding in flights I’d rather just go to WDW instead.

Grab your sunscreen and your mouse ears as we prepare to set sail with the Disney Cruise Line in Summer 2022. Today Disney revealed their exciting line-up of itineraries and destinations for summer 2022! Highlights include new ports in Greece, Portugal, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, and Dominica, plus first-ever summer sailings from Miami to the Bahamas.

“While we prepare for a return to sea just as soon as the time is right, we continue to look to the future and develop more cruising options for families,” said Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Cruise Line. “Offering this diverse new line-up of itineraries for the summer of 2022 shows our commitment to taking more guests to more destinations around the world as we plan for additional ships in the years ahead.”

Explorations in the Greek Isles, Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Beyond

In summer 2022, the  Disney Magic’s grand tour of Europe begins with sailings through the Greek Isles and Mediterranean before heading to northern Europe for cruises to the Baltic, the British Isles, Iceland, and the Norwegian fjords. Five new ports of call in Europe include Chania, Greece; Porto, Portugal; Riga, Latvia; Maloy, Norway; and Nynashamn, Sweden, near Stockholm.

Adventures in Alaska            

The  Disney Wonder will return to Alaska for the 2022 summer season to explore the region’s breathtaking natural vistas, glaciers, and wildlife. Departing from Vancouver, Canada, most of these seven-night cruises will visit Dawes Glacier, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. Two of the cruises will call on Icy Strait Point in place of Skagway.

First-Ever Summer Cruises from Miami

For the first time ever, you can sail out of Miami during the summer season, enjoying even more opportunities to visit  Castaway Cay . Every cruise from Miami in the summer of 2022 features a stop at our private island paradise.

Tropical Vacations from Port Canaveral

Tropical vacations to the Caribbean and Bahamas continue aboard the Disney Fantasy from Port Canaveral near the  Walt Disney World  Resort in Orlando, Florida. The ship will embark on an assortment of itineraries, including seven-night voyages, a special five-night sailing and an extended nine-night cruise. Disney fun is arriving in Belfast this week as one of its cruise ship docks in the city for the first time.

Disney Magic will be arriving in Belfast Harbour on Wednesday, September 11, just before 8am, and a host of Disney stars, including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Rapunzel, will join 2,700 passengers and 945 crew.

The liner is painted in Mickey Mouse-inspired colours – black hull, white superstructure, yellow trim and two giant red funnels – and is visiting Belfast as part of a seven-night British Isles cruise .

The ship, whose horn plays the first seven notes of ‘When you Wish Upon a Star’, has four captains - the ship’s Captain, Captain Mickey, Captain Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow.

Guests onboard the 11-deck Disney Magic can enjoy Disney-inspired live shows in the Walt Disney Theatre, open-air music and dance extravaganza deck parties, and, new this year, Rapunzel’s Royal Table, a restaurant inspired by the Disney hit animation.

There’s also a ’Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique’ which offers passengers head-to-toe makeovers for budding young princesses, pirates and knights. For older guests there are a range of fine-dining restaurants and an adults-only lounge inspired by the famed piano bars of Hollywood’s heyday.

130 Cruise Ships to Berth in Belfast During 2022

Belfast is expecting to welcome 130 cruise ships during the 2022 season, including 18 first time visitors.

Cruise Belfast, the partnership between Belfast Harbour and Visit Belfast which markets Belfast as a leading cruise ship destination, has announced that more than 50 different vessels from 33 cruise lines are booked to dock in the city throughout 2022, with up to 340,000 visitors expected to come ashore to experience Northern Ireland’s award-winning tourist attractions.

The cruise season, which will run from April to November this year, will see 18 new ships calling to the shores of Belfast for the first time, including ‘Ambassador Ambience,’ from new British cruise line, Ambassador, and Princess Cruises calling with its ships Enchanted Princess & Island Princess.

Michael Robinson, Belfast Harbour’s Port Director, said:

“ Following two challenging years for tourism, the team at Belfast Harbour is thrilled to have 130 cruise vessels booked for arrival at our Port in 2022.  This busy cruise schedule signals an increase in customer confidence in travel and will be a welcome economic boost to the local tourism industry.

“ The team is also looking forward to welcoming 18 ships for their inaugural call to these shores, which will further enhance Belfast’s and the wider region’s reputation as a must-visit cruise destination.

“ Following the safe and successful resumption of cruise tourism last year, we continue to work with public health agencies and the cruise lines to implement safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of all visitors and staff. As restrictions are eased, the team will review our procedures in line with government guidelines, with safety remaining our highest priority .”

Mary Jo McCanny, Director of Visitor Servicing at Visit Belfast, added:

“ The tourism investment that brought an increasing number of international and first-time visitors here before Covid, placed Belfast in a really good position to safely welcome cruise visitors back to Northern Ireland last summer. We expect to exceed our 2019 cruise passenger numbers this season, which is a testament to the quality of our visitor experiences, the strong working relationships Cruise Belfast has with global cruise operators and the warmth of the visitor services teams.

Set up in 1999, Cruise Belfast is a marketing and visitor servicing partnership between Belfast Harbour and Visit Belfast to attract cruise visitors to Belfast and Northern Ireland.

To facilitate new Covid health protocols, funding was also secured from the DfE Tourism Recovery Programme in March 2021 (administered through Tourism Northern Ireland) to ensure that full safe-guarding measures are in place ready for the first cruise arrivals, providing as safe an environment as possible for cruise guests, crew, local staff and the wider local population whilst delivering a warm and informative welcome. Further funding was awarded to support cruise marketing and sales activity and develop an industry facing cruise welcome programme.

There is only one Disney British Isles cruise available to book right now which includes ports in England, Scotland, and Ireland.

This Disney Magic Cruise sails from Dover, England on September 11, 2022.

Your Disney Cruise will start from the port of Dover which is located on the South East coast of England.

Guests traveling from overseas will most likely fly into London, with the most usual airport from the US being Heathrow.

If you are flying into London it is a great idea to add at least 2 nights (and hopefully more) to stay in this amazing city.

There is so much to see and do in London, you really should take the chance to spend some time here if you can.

It is relatively easy to get from London to the Disney Cruise Port in Dover. The distance is around 85 miles by road, however, if you are visiting from overseas I do not recommend that you rent a car to drive that journey! There are easier ways…

Disney usually offers a shuttle from London and Heathrow Airport, although you should research if this is the most efficient and cost-effective way of traveling there.

When a major cruise ship, such as the Disney Magic is in port in Dover there are shuttles from Heathrow to the port.

Another easy way to travel is by train. You will need a taxi from the train station to the port, but it’s not too far.

A huge part of the cruise experience is the excursions and activities which are offered to explore the ports.

Here are just some of the excursions offered on the Disney British Isles cruise.

Greenock, Scotland Disney Cruise Excursions

Greenock is a small town on the Scottish west coast. Glasgow is just 27 miles away with Edinburgh a bit further, but still a very manageable 72 miles away.

There are some excellent port adventures on offer from Greenock with Disney Cruise Lines. Here are some of the best picks:

It takes around 2 hours to reach Edinburgh from Greenock in your air-conditioned bus. You will visit Edinburgh Castle – a fascinating and largely well preserved medieval castle.

You will then visit Holyrood Palace, which is the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh. Don’t expect that she will be in residence, but the Royal Apartments are fascinating, particularly if you are familiar with any of the history of Mary Queen of Scots who lived there for some time before her forced abdication.

The cost of this excursion is $164 for adults and $89 for children aged 3 to 9. There is also an adult-only departure available.

You can also combine a visit to Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood with a tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia. This is $149 for adults and $89 for children aged 3 to 9.

This approximately 5 hour tour gives you a good overview of Glasgow. You will spend around 90 minutes on a driving tour around the city. You will then drive to beautiful Kelvington where you will see the old university with its historic buildings and take a look at the museum.

The cost for this excursion is $65 for adults and $40 for children aged 3 to 9.

If the beautiful scenery of Scotland is on your wish list, this Panoramic Scottish Lochs excursion is a great option. You will see four of Scotland’s lochs, including the most famous one, Loch Lomond on this 5 hour tour. It is priced at $75 for adults and $45 for children aged 3 to 9.

Dublin, Ireland Disney British Isles Cruise Port Adventures

The Disney Magic first sailed to Dublin in 2016 and it’s been a highly popular port stop since then. Dublin Port is located just about a mile from the vibrant city centre of Dublin, so it is possible to tour the city by yourself.

Unfortunately, Dublin is not a port stop on the Disney British Isles Cruise in 2022. It has been replaced with a port stop in Belfast.

However, there were also some excellent Disney cruise port adventures available from Dublin. I am leaving these in this article for the sake of completeness as I am confident there will be a return to Dublin in 2023.

This 4.5 hour tour takes you on a scenic tour of Dublin with stops at  Trinity College and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The cost is $99 for adults and $72 for children aged 3 to 9.

Dublin is of course famous for Guinness. If you want to learn more about this much revered and historic beer the Guinness Connoisseur Tour is for you. Well, if you are over 18 anyway!

You will experience a tour and luxury tasting in the Guinness Storehouse The cost is $199 and you must be 18 or older to participate.

If you are more of a fan of whiskey than the black stuff, this tour is the one for you. This activity will combine a city tour of Dublin with a Whiskey Shakers 60-minute master class in the art of making whiskey cocktails where you’ll try your hand at three different cocktails. 

You need to be at least 21 or older for this tour which costs $289.

This is a great way to see the sights of Dublin. Board the  Liffey Voyager  for a 45-minute relaxing cruise along the river. The cost is $79 for adults and $56 for children aged 0 to 9. This is one of the few activities where children under 3 are charged.

Liverpool England Port Adventures

Liverpool port is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the City Centre, but you may want to take a port adventure so that you can see things a little further afield.

When you think of Liverpool you think of The Beatles. There are a number of tours available including this one which is a 4.5 hour experience.

You will visit The Beatles Story museum, The Cavern Club, Abbey Road, Penny Lane, and Strawberry Fields. If you are a Beatles fan this is a must-do tour! The cost is $93 for adults and $72 for children aged 3 to 9.

Just a 75 minute drive away is the beautiful medieval town of Chester. You will experience a driving tour by motor coach for an hour and then get 2.5 hours to explore on your own.

Explore the 12th-century Cathedral and the Roman Walls. Browse the shops and perhaps have a traditional English Tea. The cost is $103 for adults and $87 for children aged 3 to 9.

The Lake District is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful areas of England. You can enjoy this 7 hour tour for $129 for adults and $98 for children aged 3 to 9.

The motor coach journey takes around 2 hours from Liverpool. You will then board a lake steamer boat to the beautiful town of Bowness. After some free time browsing the stores and taking in the scenery you will board the motorcoach back to the Disney Magic in Liverpool.

This amazing fortification is just under 2 hours drive from Liverpool and offers fabulous views of the mountains and the ocean. Conwy Castle is a remarkably well preserved 8 tower castle.

Enjoy a 3-course meal in the charming village of Betws-y-Coed, and enjoy free time to browse the shops for souvenirs. The cost of this port adventure is $175 for adults and $142 for children aged 3 to 9.

Belfast, Northern Ireland Disney British Isles Cruise Port Adventures

Belfast is a fascinating city, with plenty of different Port Adventures to choose from.

This gives you a great overview of the City of Belfast. This 3-hour motor coach tour will show you the highlights of Belfast including Grand Opera House, the Albert Memorial Clock, and Belfast Castle.

The cost is $39 for adults and $29 for children aged 3 to 9.

The coastal area is stunningly beautiful and well worth taking a tour to experience this part of the country,

Your motor coach tour will last approximately 9 hours and take you to see some amazing sights including Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.

The cost is $149 for adults and $109 for children.

Cobh, (Cork) Disney Cruise Port Activities

Cobh is a small town that has the only designated cruise ship port in Ireland. Cobh itself is pleasant enough, but you will probably want to venture further afield.

If you have ever wanted to kiss the Blarney Stone now is your chance with this excursion to Blaney Castle. Just a short 45 minute drive from the cruise port, Blarney Castle is an amazing piece of history. Built in 1446, the Castle is set in beautiful grounds.

You will have some free time to explore the town. This is a great chance to pick up some genuine Irish made souvenirs including Waterford Crystal, Irish Linen, and Celtic Jewelry.

Ireland is of course well known for its fine whiskey. On this excursion you will first drive to Cork for a 60 minute tour of the town.

You will then drive to Midleton to visit the Jameson Distillery. Guests will taste 3 different premium whiskey samples.

You have to be aged 21 and over to experience this tour and the cost is $220.

Perhaps you may not want to think about the Titanic when are sailing on a Disney Cruise, but if you do this is an interesting tour!

Cork was the place where the Titanic set sail – and you can learn more about the history of the doomed voyage on this 3 hour walking tour around the town. The cost is $110 or adults and $75 for children aged 3 to 9.

If you want to experience something a little more adventurous you may want to try this tour which costs $130 and is open to aged 12 and over only. Board a 12-person Rigid Inflatable Boat to explore Cork Harbour, at high speed. 

You will stop for a brief time to experience an Irish Coffee Making Demonstration before you head back to the harbor.

Portland (Stonehenge) Disney British Isles Cruise Excursions

Portland is located in the incredibly beautiful county of Dorset in England. Many guests travel to Stonehenge, but we would suggest that you think about some alternative excursions as

Take an excursion to a traditional English stately home at Minterne House and Gardens. Guests will meet the lord of the manor himself, Lord Digby, who will take them on a private tour of the house. Then relax with a Dorset cream tea in the family dining room.

This is an exclusive tour which is not usually open to the general public. The cost is $114 for adults and $84 for children aged 3 to 9.

Many people will want to visit Stonehenge and this tour combines a trip there with a visit to the beautiful city of Salisbury with its historic Castle and Cathedral.

The tour lasts approximately 8 hours and for half of that you will be in a motor coach. If I sound as though I am being less than positive about this is that you should probably do your own separate research about what you can see at Stonehenge. As obviously the stones need to be preserved, the area was fenced off quite some time ago. You can still see the stones, but the experience is not once it once was.

The cost for this tour is $139 for adults and $109 for children aged 3 to 9.

For the more adventurous you can take an exciting tour to Lulworth Cove in a Rigid Inflatable Boat. The coast is known as the Jurassic Coast Cruise,England’s first and only Natural World Heritage site. You sail to the beautiful bay of Lulworth Cove.

This area really is spectacular and this is a great way to see it. The tour costs $179 for adults and $159 for children aged 3 to 9.

Will Disney bring back the 12 night British Isles Cruise for 2023?

This was a very popular cruise and had the following as port stops:

• Greenock (Glasgow & Edinburgh), Scotland
• Liverpool, England
• Dublin, Ireland
• Le Havre, France
• Peter Port, Guernsey

The longer cruises do tend to sell out quickly, but it remains to be seen what Disney Cruise itineraries will look like for Europe in 2023.

Right now all of the Disney Cruise 2022 itineraries have been released, and early 2023 has also been released.

The Disney Magic has traditionally sailed from May to September in Europe. With the launch of the Disney Wish in June 2022, the Magic is expected to continue this pattern, and perhaps even extend her European dates for 2023.

Disney Cruise Line names its newest cruise ship

I t was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.
