Entry Formalities

Due to the restricted and protected nature of the entire periphery of Jim Corbett National Park, official permission is mandatory to access the core tiger territory. The government issues two types of official permits for entering any safari zone within the park: the Day Visit Permit for jeep/canter safaris and Permits for Night Stay at government forest lodges. SAFARI ZONES IN THE CORBETT NATIONAL PARK- HOW TO BOOK?

Dhikala zone:  This zone is the first choice of tourists. Largest of all the safari zones, this is where you can see an abundance of animals like deer, vulture, Bengal tigers, cobra, crocodile, Asian elephants, and more. Dhangadi Gate is its entry point which takes visitors into the deeper sections of the zone and allows them to adore the beauty of the pristine wilderness. The best time to come here is between mid-November to mid-June. Canter Safari:  This is an exciting way to enter the deeper regions of the forests to have a glance at the natural habitat of the mighty animals. Open-roof canters have 16 seating capacity, usually meant for larger groups. The vehicles along with forest officials offer maximum security to the visitors. During summer, the safari starts at 05:30 A.M. in the morning and ends at 12:30 P.M noon. The second batch begins at 12:20 P.M. in noon till 06:30 P.M in the evening. In winter, the safari begins around 06:00 A.M and ends by 11:00 A.M. The second batch starts from 11:00 A.M and is closed down by 04:00 P.M. Remember that only Dhikala Zone is covered by a canter safari.

Jeep Safari:  Jeep Safari is considered the most popular one amongst all the options you get. Jeep can accommodate a maximum of 6 adults and 2 kids. What makes this safari more popular is that it picks you up from your resort & drops you back after your safari ride.

Operated twice a day, the number of jeeps is limited in each zone as per their capacity.

There are two types of accommodation in and around the Corbett National Park. Private Resorts & Govt controlled Forest Rest Houses aka FRHs. But booking a Forest Rest House is a tricky one. Although you can book it directly through the govt website. Very limited availability of rooms and a massive demand make it very difficult for a common man to book directly. Day visit to Dhikala Tourism Zone is not permitted except for the tourists staying inside the forest lodges

While doing jeep safari do not get down from the vehicle, it is strictly not allowed

Avoid carrying pets while you are on a holiday tour as no pets can be taken inside the CTR

All visitors to the Corbett Tiger Reserve abide by the rules and regulations of the wildlife protection act. So please co-operate

Terms & Conditions for Online Jeep Safari Booking at Corbett National Park

Jeep and Canter safari at Corbett is conducted only in two shifts – Morning and Evening daily

Morning safari is conducted from 06:30 AM to 09:30 AM and afternoon safari time is from 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM

Visitors are required to send their passport-size photograph needed for permit registration

The number of visitors going on safari vehicles should not exceed the limit as they will be stopped at the entry gate

The tourists are held responsible for their own luggage during the safari, no safari driver or guide is liable for the same

Please read all the instructions before you plunge into the enthralling Jeep safari at Corbett National Park

Dos and Don’ts during Safaris

Do during safari.

• Always carry a trash bag during safari and do not litter in jungle
• One can carry binoculars to explore colourful beauty of bird sear
• Wear clothes with earthen or dull colors which are non provoking to wildlife
• Keep silent and do not disturb wildlife. Understand the fact that it is their home and we are mere visitors in the forest.
• Maintain good / safe distance from animals so that they are not disturbed and you can observe their natural behaviour.

Don't during Safari

• Do not carry any fire arm or inflammable material during safari
• Smoking or consuming liquor is offence during safari
• Do not get down from jeeps or canter while inside national park
• Movement of jeeps or canter is restricted on certain roads do not enter on those roads
• Playing music, shouting, screaming is prohibited in forest
• Do not wear clothes with provoking / bright colors
• Do not wear perfumes during safaris as some animals have high sense of smell
