princess cruises room service menu

As you know, I have been lucky enough to try many cruise lines . I must tell you that Princess Cruises has one of the best room services among all of them .

It operates 24 hours a day , the menu is quite extensive , and I have found the food to always be of good quality .

In this article, I will tell you more about room service on Princess. In particular, we will go over the updated 2024 menu with all the prices and I will explain how to order when you are on the ship .

Table of Contents

Princess Cruises Room Service Menu for Breakfast

Let’s start with the breakfast . As on almost all cruise ships, you will find an order card in your cabin .

You must fill it out by entering: the cabin number, number of people, and the quantity for each item you want to order.

Below you can see the usual order card. Every item on it is complimentary , the only thing that comes with a price is water which costs 2.50$ for 0.5L and 5.00$ for 1.5L .

Room service menu for breakfast on Princess

As you can see the menu is quite varied, you can choose from beverages, yogurts, cereals, pastries, breads, and muffins.

The only thing that I don’t like is that there’s only one item in the “hot section” which is an egg, bacon, and cheese English muffin. I would have preferred something more, at least some scrambled eggs or pancakes.

At the end of the card just tick your preferred time , and remember to hang it outside your door the night before the delivery. It’s just as simple as that.

24 Hours Room Service Menu

Apart from the breakfast menu, there is also a wider one available 24 hours a day. It includes 6 different sections: appetizers and snacks, hot food, sandwiches, pizza, sides, and sweets.

You have two options to order any of the items: you can use the TV in your cabin or the Medallion app on your smartphone .

Room service on Princess Cruises

In either case, the operation is very simple, you will be asked to specify the delivery location (if you want room service simply enter the cabin number) and then add each item you want to your order .

Most of the dishes are free but there are also some for which you have to pay a small fee. Below I have created a list of all the dishes you can order from the room service menu with the prices updated to 2024.

Do you have to pay a delivery fee on Princess Cruises?

Room service is not free on Princess Cruises . You have to pay a 5.00$ delivery fee for each order.

The delivery is totally free only if you booked with a Princess Plus or Princess Premier fare , or if you’re ordering breakfast with the order card .

The price of dishes that are not complimentary remains the same and is charged to all guests .

Room service for specialty restaurants

One thing that, I have to tell you the truth, tremendously surprised me was the possibility of ordering room service from the menu of specialty restaurants on board .

I don’t remember this possibility with any other cruise line I’ve traveled with (if this has changed let me know in the comments) and it’s a really amazing thing .

As you can imagine, it’s a little more expensive. The price of the dishes from the specialty restaurants’ room service is:

  • 7$ or 8$ for starters
  • 19$ for main dishes
  • 5$ for desserts

But even though you have to pay for it, you have a much larger and more varied choice of dishes . I have seen lamb, prawns, different types of steaks, mussels, and much more.

I mean, with these dishes you can really have a good and full lunch or dinner in your cabin .

princess cruises room service desserts and fruit

If you are a loyal reader of my blog, you will already know that I am not a fan of room service in general .

When I am on a cruise, I like to spend as little time as possible in the cabin, so I prefer to go to restaurants for food.

However, like everyone else, I do occasionally order something from room service , almost always breakfast because the lunch and dinner menus are often very limited .

On the contrary, on my last cruise with Princess, I order from the room service way more often, simply because there are so many dishes to choose from .

I must also admit that delivery was slower than on other cruise lines (such as Royal Caribbean and MSC) but I think that also depends on the vast menu that perhaps puts a bit of stress on the kitchens.

I had already shown you a while back how few dishes were on MSC’s room service menu .

So, overall I was pretty happy with it, bravo Princess Cruises . One of the best room services at sea!

Princess Cruises Room Service Menu & Guide

Fancy a lazy breakfast in your cabin? Craving a snack in the afternoon? This useful guide to the  Princess Cruises room service menu has everything you need to know to make the most of this service on your next cruise.

When is room service available on Princess Cruises?

Princess Cruises offers  24-hour room service so there is always something available. It’s worth noting that certain items are only available at particular times of the day:

  • Breakfast 6.30am – 10.30am
  • Pizza 11.00am – 11.00pm
  • Specialty Dining menu 5.30pm – 9.30pm (extra charges apply)
  • General food, drink and snack 24 hours (some items with charges)

Be aware that room service is available up until 2am on the morning of your disembarkation.

Is room service free on Princess Cruises?

Room service breakfast is still included in your cruise fare as long as you use the breakfast door hanger supplied in your cabin.

Room service ordered with the Ocean Now app is not free on Princess Cruises. There is a $5.00 delivery fee for room service. Passengers with Princess Plus or Princess Premier have this fee waived.

Some items ordered via the Medallion app have additional charges but these are clearly marked. You can see these in the menus listed later in this post.

How do you order room service on Princess Cruises?

Breakfast can be ordered by filling out the order card in your cabin the night before. You just need to hang it on your door before you go to bed.

To order room service at any other time, you can use the TV in your cabin or via the Medallion app on your smartphone.

I’ve put together a handy step-by-step video guide to using the Medallion app to order food and drink to your cabin. If you’re new to the Medallion, I’d recommend giving it a watch now.

Princess Cruises Complimentary Room Service Breakfast

Princess Cruises room service breakfast menu offers: juices, hot drinks, yoghurts, cereals, fruit, preserves, pastries, bread rolls and an egg, bacon and cheese breakfast muffin. All are complimentary.

princess cruises room service breakfast menu

In my opinion, this is a very good selection of continental breakfast options.

Bottled water can also be order via the breakfast room service card:

  • 500ml bottle water $2.00
  • 1.5 litre bottled water $3.95

Suite guests do have the additional choice of cooked items as shown in the photo below.

Princess Cruises room service breakfast for suite guests

If you aren’t staying in a suite and want a cooked breakfast, you’ll need to go to the buffet or main dining room for breakfast. Suite guests can choose to order a cooked breakfast via room service.

I’d recommend ordering room service breakfast early on a port day if you plan to get off the ship early. Perhaps you’d also like to enjoy a leisurely breakfast on your balcony on a sea day.

If you decide to treat yourself to an Ultimate Balcony Breakfast , there is a charge of around $45 per couple. It can be booked on the Cruise Personalizer before your cruise or by contacting Room Service when you get onboard.

Princess Cruises Room Service Menu with Prices

The room service menu has a good selection of meals, snacks and drinks. Food is divided into 8 categories:

Specialty Dining Options on Room Service

Interestingly, there is a selection of dishes from the specialty dining restaurants on the Princess Cruises room service menu. These all incur an additional charge BUT one advantage of this is that you can have a favourite dish from a restaurant with paying the full cover charge. You can also still enjoy a meal from a specialty dining restaurant if it’s fully booked.

Prices range from $5.00 to $19.00. This represents excellent value considering it’s being delivered to your cabin, but remember, it will never be cheaper than dining at the specialty restaurant in person.

Crown Grill Room Service

Why not treat yourself to one of your favourites from the Crown Grill? Starters are $7.00 to $8.00, mains $19.00 and desserts $5.00.

The Crown Grill is a popular specialty dining option and is likely to get booked up before the cruise. Take a look at the full restaurant menu for the Crown Grill to help you decide if it’s worth booking in advance.

Sabatini’s Room Service

If there is something you really enjoyed at Sabatini’s Trattoria, you can have it again via room service. One of my favourite desserts has got to be the Zabaglione Marsala and I’d happily pay $5.00 to enjoy it again!

You can take a look at the full menu available at Sabatini’s Trattoria to compare.

Where can Room Service be Delivered?

The room service menu can be ordered to arrive in your cabin, just make sure you select your cabin from the location otpions on the app or your stateroom TV. Thanks to the Medallion app food and drink can also be ordered for delivery to many other locations around the ship.

What drinks are available to order via room service?

On Princess Cruises, you can also  order alcoholic and soft drinks  using the Medallion app. For a comprehensive guide to the drinks prices onboard, I’d recommend taking a look at my  complete guide to Princess Cruises drinks .

There is a reduced menu for room service but it’s still a decent range of options to pick from. You will find a much smaller menu of frozen cocktails and none of the specialty drinks associated with particular bars onboard.

If you have any of the drinks packages, drinks ordered via room service are included according to the drinks package you have.

room service drinks

Personal Experience

Since the introduction of the Medallion app, the Princess Cruises room service menu has vastly increased. There is so much more available to order including dishes from the specialty dining restaurants.

On our most recent sailing, the reliability and speed of room service was affected by issues with the Medallion app. Snacks we ordered either took a long time to arrive or never arrived at all.

Room service breakfast remains as a Continental option, unless staying in a suite. Breakfast is ordered by hanging the room service card on your door before you go to bed. Interestingly, our breakfast arrived on time with no issues, which leads me to think that it’s only the Medallion app that is causing problems with room service orders.

Hopefully in the near future, problems with the Medallion app will be solved. This would make the room service on Princess Cruises one of the best at sea.

Cruise ship room service: A line-by-line guide to in-cabin dining

Kristy Tolley

There are few better places to be when hunger strikes than on a cruise ship. If the buffet is busy with people or packed away, 24-hour room service is always available to fill your belly. It's one of the greatest cruising amenities that's uniformly offered on all major cruise lines. No need to dress up for dinner — just order food, flip on your cabin TV and wait for your meal to arrive.

Wondering what you can order and how much it will cost you? Here's a line-by-line overview of room service options and pricing across the major cruise lines, along with in-cabin dining menus.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

How do I order room service on a cruise ship?

Just pick up your in-cabin phone and dial the room service number to order food. Easy!

Some cruise lines offer the option to order your food and drinks through your in-cabin TV or a smartphone app, which populates photos of the menu items. Some cruise line apps even have location-specific features that allow you to order food and drinks for delivery almost anywhere on the ship.

Breakfast is often ordered by filling out a pre-printed menu card left in your cabin and hanging it outside your door before you go to bed. Crew members collect the orders during the night and deliver your food the next morning at the time you specified.

What types of food can I order to my cabin?

Many cruise lines offer a complimentary continental breakfast delivery, which typically includes pastries, bread, fruit, yogurt and coffee and tea. You can order hot breakfast items like eggs, pancakes and bacon, but they cost extra on select lines or in specific cabin categories.

After breakfast service ends in the late morning, all major cruise lines offer an all-day room service menu of salads, sandwiches, snacks and desserts. Most cruise lines have special in-room dining menus separate from what you'd find that day on the buffet or in the main dining room.

However, some of the more upscale lines and some select concierge cabin classes offer comprehensive in-suite dining menus, often with the convenience of ordering off the menu from the main dining room or specialty restaurants on board. This elevated in-room dining experience might include a white tablecloth setup and your meal delivered course by course to your cabin or suite.

You can access additional specialty food experiences from room service operations. These include fresh pizza delivery as seen on Carnival Cruise Line and MSC Cruises, a cutting-edge app feature for Champagne delivery on Virgin Voyages and lobster and caviar deliveries from luxury cruise lines such as Silversea Cruises.

Is room service free on a cruise ship?

princess cruise room service breakfast

While most land-based hotels charge a premium for any food delivered to your room, cruise ships have a long legacy of including room service in their fares. Many cruisers' favorite amenity is the 24-hour complimentary access to generic yet classic menu items such as fresh fruit, a cheese plate or a club sandwich, not to mention continental breakfast.

Recent changes in the economics of cruising have sunset the glory days of unlimited, complimentary room service on several of the most popular cruise lines. Service fees and menus dominated by a la carte options are now the new norms across the industry.

Still, the fees are often considerably less than at comparable land-based resorts, and continental breakfast items are commonly free of charge (with the exception of MSC's lowest cabin class, which charges a per-item and service fee for breakfast service).

Related: 11 extra charges on cruise ships that will drive you nuts — and what you can do about them

How much does room service cost?

Depending on the cruise line and your cabin class, room service can be a complimentary all-inclusive service, billed per item or charged at a flat delivery fee. Most lines will offer complimentary continental breakfast options through room service with no service fee, even if other options cost extra.

Luxury lines, including Seabourn, Silversea and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, always include 24-hour room service as a standard amenity.

Delivery service fees per order can reach up to $9.95, the per-order rate currently on Norwegian Cruise Line's non-suite class cabins. A la carte prices average around $5 per item, whether that's a hot breakfast or a midday sandwich.

For example, on Carnival's new a la carte room service menu, salads cost $4 to $5 (with additional fees for adding proteins), sandwiches $5 to $7, snacks like pizza and chicken tenders $6 to $8 and dessert $3 to $5.

Do you have to tip for room service on a cruise?

On no-tipping lines, such as Seabourn and Silversea, crew members are compensated appropriately, and you do not need to tip for room service. On lines where guests are expected to tip crew members, determine first if a gratuity is automatically included in your room service order or delivery fee. If it's not, a small tip is always appreciated.

Depending on what you order and the line, you might not have the chance to sign a bill for your room service order, which could be a missed opportunity to add a tip. Come prepared with small bills to offer in appreciation of the service, as you'll find the room service staff works hard to expedite many meals around the ship.

A service charge of $7.95 is applied to dinner menu items (think: Atlantic salmon, wings, steak and more).

The room service menu is the same for all four sailing experiences, though MSC Yacht Club suites incur no fee for any room service items and room service delivery. The Fantastica and Aurea experiences include complimentary delivery.

MSC Cruises is known for its Neapolitan pizza delivery service, with custom pizzas made to order and delivered to your cabin. The Margherita pizza is $6 with a $3.50 delivery fee for Bella passengers, no delivery fee for Fantastica and Aurea experience guests, and completely free for guests sailing in the Yacht Club.

(In-cabin breakfast is not available on the morning of disembarkation day.) Guests staying in suites and The Haven do not have to pay the room service delivery fee.

All-day menu items incur a higher per-order fee of $9.95 for guests not staying in suites; again, all items on the room service menu are available for no additional fee. They include breakfast options like a spinach and tomato omelet and steak and eggs, along with all-day menu items with highlights that include chili con carne, a veggie burger and shrimp creole.

Room service throughout the entire Oceania Cruises fleet is included in all fares and available 24 hours a day. The daily room service menu is offered from 11 to 6 a.m. with meals for all times of day, from grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch and chicken tenders for an afternoon snack to grilled salmon or rigatoni bolognese for dinner and fried chicken wings and chocolate cake for a late-night snack. Room service costs $7.95 per order with an added 18% gratuity.

Guests sailing in one of Royal Caribbean's Grand Suites or higher can order in-room dining from the main dining room during the hours of operation and order room service from the standard room service menu without a service fee.

Viking does not offer room service for any cabin category on its river cruises.

Virgin Voyages

princess cruise room service breakfast

Virgin 's 24-hour room service is an extension of the ship's on-trend cuisine, with many contemporary food options you're not likely to find on most other cruise lines. Room service orders can be placed through the Virgin Voyages app or by dialing the room service extension in your cabin.

Each room service order incurs a $7 delivery fee, though you can order as much food as you like. Certain items (such as specialty coffee, alcoholic beverages and fresh orange juice) carry an additional a la carte fee. However, your delivery fee is waived if you order an extra-fee item. The fee is also waived for all RockStar Quarters suites.

Breakfast delivery is from 5 to 11 a.m. The menu features contemporary items like a Nutella-stuffed French toast, an egg white frittata and a housemade date and almond protein bar. The shipwide room service menu from 11 to 5 a.m. has lunch, dinner and late-night options, with favorites that include a charcuterie and cheese plate, a New York strip steak, a blueberry-green tea vegan cheesecake and confetti cake pops.

Shaking things up, literally, Virgin's first-of-its-kind "Shake for Champagne" feature adds the convenience of Champagne delivery no matter where you are on the ship. Simply open the Virgin Voyages app and shake your phone three times to see a button pop up to order a $95 bottle of Moet & Chandon Imperial Champagne with flutes delivered to you anywhere on board, not just in your cabin.

Windstar Cruises

Windstar 's 24-hour room service is included with your fare. The line has a room service menu that includes a full breakfast, along with salads, burgers and sandwiches available until 10 p.m. nightly. The line also lets passengers order off the ship's main dining room's lunch and dinner menus during dining hours.

Princess cruise breakfast menu in the MDR main dining room + brunch ⚓ cruise food ⚓ cruise tips

So, what’s a Princess cruise breakfast menu like in the main dining room?!

I was on a Princess cruise ship in 2023, and I got screenshots of the main dining room breakfast menu. This is below!

princess cruise breakfast menu dining room

In general on a cruise, you will get free food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

There are always free food options for every meal, plus snacks in between meals.

You can get pizza any time , and you can get ice cream any time during the day for free.

There are “ premium desserts ” on Princess cruise ships for which there is an added fee.

But there are always free dessert options, both in the main dining room and in the buffet.

There is a “ juice bar ” for extra health and wellness drinks for which there is an added fee.

There are “ specialty restaurants ” for dinner for which there is an added fee.

There are also other food choices that you can get almost any time throughout the day too.

There is a buffet on Princess cruise ships.

You can eat at the buffet during your time on a Princess cruise ship for breakfast. This is free.

You can get the buffet for breakfast any day of the cruise on a Princess cruise ship.

You can eat at the buffet for lunch and dinner too. This is free.

You can also go to one of the main dining rooms on a Princess cruise ship for dinner every day and lunch on sea days . This is free.

And what about breakfast in the main dining room?! Breakfast in the main dining room is also free.

For something a little less formal, you can even get a light breakfast sent directly to your room for free by ordering room service for breakfast the night before.

You can make dining room reservations for dinner , but you can’t make reservations for breakfast in the dining room.

You will just show up to the dining room during breakfast hours.

Breakfast hours in the dining room tend to be 7am to 9am.

Buffet breakfast hours are longer.

Lunch hours in the dining room tend to be 12pm to 1:30pm.

Dinner hours in the dining room tend to be 5pm to 9pm.

princess cruise lunch time hours in the dining room

You will want to confirm the breakfast hours (and other meals) once you are on your cruise ship.

This information can be found in many places, and one of the easiest places to look is the daily schedule of cruise activities (aka Princess Patter aka “Princess event listings”) that will be delivered to your room every evening. On the back side is a list of hours for different services and venues throughout the ship.

See below for a breakfast menu from a few days of a Princess cruise ship!

Also below is how to see the breakfast menu once you are on your cruise.

Food on your Princess cruise ship may vary.

But just to give you an idea, here is the breakfast menu from the main dining room breakfast on my cruise when I was on the Grand Princess!

The breakfast menu here is from September 2023.

Most of the menu was the same every day.

The breakfast food items that changed were the “daily specials” for breakfast.

First will be the items that were mostly the same, and then following that will be the breakfast specials that was different every day.

On sea days, there is lunch in the main dining room .

You may also find a brunch menu at that time.

How to see the breakfast menu on your cruise

You’ll be able to see the breakfast menu once you are on your cruise.

You can use the Princess app to see the menu for the day.

First, since not all dining rooms will be serving breakfast, you will want to find out what dining room is serving breakfast.

You can see this by looking at the back of the daily Princess activities schedule that will be delivered to your cabin every evening for the next day’s activities.

Then, you can look in the Princess app for the breakfast menu of that dining room!

You can also see the breakfast menu on the stateroom TV in your cabin !

And that’s to give you an idea of what type of breakfast food might be on the menu in a Princess cruise ship dining room!

Sun princess: the best dining, amenities and more on princess cruises' newest ship.

Sun Princess features an updated layout, delicious new restaurants and plenty of spaces to be entertained.

Sun Princess Review

Key Takeaways

  • Sun Princess' fresher, more modern design may appeal to a younger crowd than the line normally caters to.
  • Incredible dining options abound, including The Catch by Rudi and the new Spellbound dinner and magic show.
  • New Cabana Mini-Suites feature indoor-outdoor cabana areas and spacious balconies.

As a travel writer who cruises with all the major lines, I was excited to travel through the Mediterranean on the new Sun Princess cruise ship in May 2024. I traveled with my mother to celebrate her 76th birthday shortly after the new ship's February debut in Rome . The itinerary we sailed was a unique, one-way offering that departed from Athens, Greece , with visits to ports like Bar, Montenegro; Corfu, Greece; and Messina and Naples, Italy .

A true marvel of modern engineering and ship architecture, Sun Princess boasts a maximum guest capacity of 4,300 and room for 1,600 crew. The Sphere-Class vessel is 1,133 feet long and 200 feet high, with a breadth of 139 feet and 21 total decks. There are 2,157 staterooms, including 80 unique suites with extra space for guests.

Standout features include a three-floor main dining area, the Princess Arena with capacity for 990 guests and a 250-person entertainment space known as The Dome. Read on to learn everything there is to know about the Sun Princess cruise ship, including my own take on the dining and entertainment options available to cruisers.

Sun Princess itineraries for 2024 and 2025

Sun Princess.

Holly Johnson

While Sun Princess is scheduled to cruise the Mediterranean through September 2024, the ship will cross the Atlantic on its way to Fort Lauderdale, Florida , by October for the winter cruise season.

From this new homeport, Sun Princess will offer seven-day Caribbean cruises with the stops in Honduras, Belize , Mexico, the Bahamas , the Dominican Republic, and Turks & Caicos through March 2025.

Sun Princess will then embark on a 14-day Spanish Passage voyage in March 2025, which ends in Barcelona, Spain , and repositions the ship for its summer in the Mediterranean. At that point, cruisers can book a range of lengthy Mediterranean options over various dates, which include stops in Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Italy, France, Spain and more.

Who should sail on Sun Princess?

Sun Princess.

While most people may think of Princess Cruises as a cruise line for baby boomers, Sun Princess aims to attract a younger, livelier crowd. This is immediately apparent when walking around the ship's common areas; Sun Princess boasts bold color schemes, endless windows, sparkling lights and a more modern central piazza than other Princess ships.

While my Mediterranean sailing largely consisted of adult travelers, Sun Princess will likely attract more families on its Caribbean itineraries. The ship's layout is ideal for parents with children of all ages, and amenities geared specifically toward kids abound. It all starts with the ship's Park19 family area, which features a huge climbing structure, a splash zone, a recreational court, a jogging court and more. Sun Princess also has three dedicated youth clubs: Firefly Park Kids Club (ages 3 to 7, with a separate play area for babies and toddlers 6 months and older), Neon Grove Tweens Club (ages 8 to 12) and The Underground Teen Lounge (ages 13 to 17).

What's interesting about Sun Princess is that it still has so much to offer more mature travelers, including couples who want to enjoy a romantic, upscale vacation. This is shown in the ship's elevated dining venues, expansive casino and luxurious spa. Sun Princess also offers the Sanctuary Collection of rooms and suites, which offer more amenities and spaces to relax on the ship.

Travelers who book a room in the Sanctuary Collection get their pick of a nicer selection of rooms, a premium beverage package, access to a private restaurant and pool deck and a more personalized experience overall. Think of the Sanctuary Collection suites as an alternative to MSC Cruises Yacht Club cabins – the biggest difference being that the venues available to cruisers in these cabins are spread throughout the ship.

The stateroom

Sun Princess.

I stayed in one of the new Cabana Mini-Suites on the Sun Princess, which I would book again in a heartbeat. These rooms are a take on the classic balcony cabin most cruisers expect, but with a twist. In addition to an outdoor balcony, Cabana Mini-Suites have a separate indoor-outdoor cabana-like area with a flat-screen television.

This extra space means the new Cabana Mini-Suites are much longer from one end to the other than a traditional balcony stateroom. The additional space is nice to have whether you want more room for storage or a separate place to read or relax while your cabinmate naps. My mom sat in our cabana area and read several times while I showered and got ready for dinner, and she even took a nap out there while I worked on my computer in our stateroom.

Regardless of the stateroom you book, know that Sun Princess cabins feature soft, neutral tones and plenty of closet space. Power outlets are abundant, and there are all kinds of nooks and crannies for storage. Cabin types on Sun Princess include the following:

Interior Cabins (136 to 145 square feet)

Basic interior rooms offer a queen bed or two small twin beds, a flat-panel television, a refrigerator, and a private bathroom with a shower. These are the most affordable cabins on the ship, and they work best for guests who just want a place to relax and sleep.

Premium Oceanview (212 square feet)

Ocean-view cabins have slightly more space than interior rooms, but they still lack a balcony. These rooms feature a queen bed or two twin configurations, a large flat-screen television, a refrigerator, and more floor and storage space.

Deluxe Balcony (235 square feet, including balcony)

Balcony cabins offer more space than ocean-view rooms due to the addition of a spacious balcony with outdoor seating. Balcony cabins can also come in a queen bed or two twin configuration and have a large flat-screen television, a refrigerator, and more floor and storage space.

Mini-Suite (303 square feet, including balcony)

Mini-Suites are essentially large balcony cabins with more storage space, more closet space and more floor space. These rooms have all the amenities of other cabins but include two flat-screen televisions (one for the bedroom area and another for couch viewing).

Cabana Mini-Suite (329 square feet, including balcony and cabana)

The Cabana Mini-Suite on the Sun Princess.

These rooms add the indoor-outdoor space of the cabana adjacent to the outdoor balcony. The cabana area has seating for several people and its own flat-screen television (in addition to the in-room TV).

Signature Suites (304 to 636 square feet, including balcony)

Signature Suites range in size and include larger balconies with premium furniture, two flat-screen televisions, a more spacious bathroom with a separate tub and shower, and dedicated sleeping and living areas.

Signature Sky Suites (1,262 square feet, including balcony)

Princess Cruises Signature Sky Suites are the largest staterooms across all Princess vessels, and they have all the bells and whistles you can imagine. Standout features of Sky Suites include separate living and dining areas; huge, luxurious bathrooms; and Nespresso coffee machines.

(Note: Sanctuary Collection rooms are dotted throughout the ship and consist of balcony-, mini-suite- and suite-category accommodations.)

Best amenities on Sun Princess

Sun Princess.

Since my itinerary on the Sun Princess cruise ship included multiple port stops, I didn't get to experience everything the ship had to offer. However, what I did experience was worth it – from the nonstop entertainment in the piazza to over-the-top dining features. Some of my standout experiences include:

Part dinner and part magic show, Spellbound by Magic Castle is bookable for an additional charge. The experience begins with a small group dinner with drink pairings, then moves to a hidden bar area of the ship, where the magic begins. The bar itself features magical artifacts and vintage curiosities, a "ghost" pianist, and an incredible drink menu designed to wow and delight guests. Some drinks were served in cages, golden owls and elaborate chests with dry ice.

Magic came in the form of intriguing card tricks and disappearing acts at the bar, plus a separate stage area where crowd participation helped facilitate the illusions. I don't want to give anything more than that away – you must simply experience it for yourself. Though I thought Spellbound was slightly cheesy at times, I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and show and feel it was worth the added cost.

The Dome on the Sun Princess is part pool area and part stage. Guests can swim in a unique indoor-outdoor pool by day and watch entertainers dance in the evening, with alluring lighting effects and a cozy, intimate atmosphere.

I watched an acrobatics show in The Dome from the comfort of a padded lounge chair and thought the venue was the place to be.

Princess Arena

The Princess Arena is a circular stage area that holds up to 990 guests. Shows on offer include multifaceted stage productions and acrobatic features with plenty of surprises.

Fitness center

The Sun Princess' fitness center was huge and featured a range of treadmills, stair climbers, weights and machines to choose from. I never had trouble securing a treadmill at any time, even though I've had to wait and fight crowds for machines on other cruise ships.

I also loved the expansive walking track on the ship, which was constantly in use by both serious exercisers and cruisers walking leisurely to enjoy the views. I used the walking track every morning for at least an hour; I found it much more spacious and usable than other ship walking tracks, which are often congested and never quite wide enough.

The ship also features a Fitness Studio with guided classes, but I did not use it during my trip.

Sun Princess features five large pools and nine hot tubs. There are two pools on the lido deck, plus an indoor-outdoor pool in The Dome, a Sanctuary pool (for Sanctuary Collection guests only) and a wake-view infinity pool.

Medallion services

Princess MedallionClass is one of the coolest and most convenient amenities at sea. In place of a traditional cruise card, Princess gives you a small wearable device to bring with you around the ship and on shore. The medallion tracks your physical location on the ship, which allows you to order services and deliveries on board no matter where you are. Medallion delivery options range from food and drinks to extra pillows or bottled water.

I ordered room service through my medallion multiple times and hot, fresh food arrived in my cabin in less than 20 minutes. Meanwhile, drinks were delivered to our cabin and elsewhere on the ship in less than five minutes.

MedallionNet

Princess' Wi-Fi at sea (MedallionNet) is the fastest internet service I have ever used on a cruise ship. The internet was fast and reliable enough for me to complete some work while on board, which is not the norm on cruise ships.

Best dining venues Sun Princess

Sun Princess.

Sun Princess features 30 dining and bar options, many of which are included in the base cruise fare. Complimentary dining venues on Sun Princess include three traditional dining rooms, The Eatery (a take on the classic buffet, but with staff service), a café for coffee and light bites, The Lido (serving up salads, pizza and more) and the Promenade Dining grill.

Specialty dining options for an extra charge range from O'Malley's Irish Pub to a sushi spot to steak, seafood and Italian restaurants. For an extra special experience, head to Love by Britto to indulge in fine dining, or opt for Umai hot pot or teppanyaki venues. Meanwhile, bars on Sun Princess include Bellini's Cocktail Bar, Sea View Bar, The MIX and more.

My personal favorite dining experiences included:

My Spellbound dinner was excellent, even though the menu is fairly brief. I enjoyed a delicious shrimp cocktail and seafood entree, followed by a vegan dessert (I'm allergic to dairy and the ship happily accommodated). What stood out for me with Spellbound, at least food-wise, was the eclectic selection of drink pairings offered with the meal. It started with a caprese salad cocktail that tasted like tomatoes and balsamic vinegar in a strange, delicious way, then moved on to the spooky concoctions offered in the Spellbound bar.

Crown Grill

Crown Grill, a specialty dining venue, is not unique to Sun Princess, but it is the cruise line's most popular steakhouse brand. My mom and I had a delicious meal here for her birthday that included a Mediterranean-style spiny lobster cake, Chilean sea bass and a huge (surprise) birthday cake delivered to our table.

The Catch by Rudi

The Catch by Rudi is the ship's specialty dining seafood restaurant. Here, I dined on a delicious shrimp cocktail and the catch of the day (a grilled dorado filet). Everything was fresh and the meal was exceptional from start to finish.

I loved The Eatery, the ship's buffet-style dining option. The main difference between this venue and more traditional cruise ship buffets is that you're served by staff instead of serving yourself, which I prefer. The Eatery featured a rotating selection of exceptional main courses (seafood, chicken, beef and ethnic options), salads, appetizers and delicious desserts. It even had a vegan section and an easy-to-find selection of gluten-free offerings.

Best excursions on Sun Princess

Sun Princess.

The best excursions on Sun Princess vary depending on where you're going on your cruise – the Caribbean or various Europe destinations. Here's an overview of some excellent excursions offered aboard Sun Princess, a few of which I did myself.

Corfu, Greece

Catamaran Coastal Cruise & Swim: This easy excursion lets you see Corfu from the sea and get out into the water for some snorkeling and swimming. I picked this excursion so we could relax for one day and avoid a lot of walking, and it delivered. A delicious lunch with an open bar was served on board as we sailed around the island taking in some of Corfu's most beautiful sights.

Naples, Italy

Sorrento & Amalfi Coast Cruise: No trip to this region of Italy is complete without a stop in the Amalfi Coast . This excursion was a long one (eight to nine hours) with lots of walking and bus time, but the views of this dynamic coast and time spent in Amalfi and Sorrento made the travel time well worth it.

Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos

Island Vibes & Beach Swim: This relatively short excursion includes a narrated bus trip throughout the island of Grand Turk, highlighting some of the island's top sights. A beach break at picturesque Governor's Beach is included.

Princess Cays, Bahamas

Princess Cays Coastal Cruise: Princess Cruises' private island offers a range of bookable activities, from banana boat rides to snorkeling tours. This coastal cruise is another option that takes you along the shores of Eleuthera in a 40-foot Reef Princess boat.

Overall impressions of Sun Princess

Sun Princess.

If you're considering a cruise on Sun Princess, you should know that this isn't your traditional Princess ship. The look and feel of this vessel are younger and livelier compared to other Princess ships I have sailed on. Gone are the hallways filled with cruisers knitting and playing cards; in their place, you'll find dancing, entertainment, music and activities around the clock.

When it comes to Sun Princess dining, every meal I had on board was either very good or excellent. You don't even have to opt for an extra-cost specialty dining venue to get a good meal. The Eatery and the regular dining rooms feature fresh, seasonal foods that are more than enough for the average palate to enjoy.

Caribbean itineraries on offer later this year (and into 2025) start at around $660 per person for an interior cabin, and Princess features an endless roster of sales throughout the year. If you're looking for a new cruising experience and want to give Princess a try (or another chance), Sun Princess is more than worthy of your consideration.

I have looked but can't  find what I'm looking for. I would prefer to have breakfast in my cabin, but can't seem to find if I would have to pay extra for this. I don't have Plus or anything else.

Room service breakfast, if ordered by door hanger, is free of any charge.. call for room service, use Ocean Now for room service, order lattes or other specialty coffees - there is a subsequent charge, unless you have one of the Cruise Packages.. (ocean Now is anyone time charge per cruise, not order).

GJCruiser

Currently they still have the 'door hanger' order form for breakfast that is no additional charge.

If you use the app or phone to order room service, there is either a one time charge (app) or a per service charge (phone).

We always use the door hanger. We've had some bad experiences trying to order anything "warm" such as eggs &such...cold.

Can you get things like eggs Benedict or Omelets for Breakfast in suite room service?

4 minutes ago, cruisinsince75 said: Can you get things like eggs Benedict or Omelets for Breakfast in suite room service?

It's a limited Continental breakfast with one "hot " item, the Egg, ham and cheese sandwich.

Some people have had success with writing in an omelette or bacon or such, although haven't seen any reports of that since the room service delivery charges and such have come into effect.

CruzeQueen2

@cruisinsince75  I have the Good Morning menu here in a suite on Majestic, September 27, today.

Omelettes are listed as available. This room service menu for this suite is the same page of offerings that you see in the regular dining room.

I don't see Eggs Benedict listed, sorry. But you could ask.

Suite room service is quite different than all other cabin types..

One of the Suite perks is being able to order off the MDR menus whenever the MDR is open - hence having the Good Morning menu, omelettes, etc..

The room service menu for all other cabins is very limited, the only hot option is the egg sandwich, the rest is continental.

Thrak

Be careful if you write in Bacon. I put down "bacon x 4) hoping to get 4 slices of bacon. Instead I got 4 orders of bacon. D'Oh!

I love eating breakfast on my balcony and was very disappointed by the room service offered by Princess.  The door hanger options were very basic (and almost no protein options).

I didn't realize you could potentially "write in" other options.  I will try this in December!  Even if it doesn't happen all the time, it will may save me a trip to the buffet for breakfast (and bringing it back to my room to eat on the balcony).

Thanks for the information!

Here’s photos of my room service breakfasts on the Emerald 19 day sailing august 21 to sept 9th 2023.  I was in a basic mini suite with the same basic door hanging card as all cabins that are not full suites. Every meal came hot and delicious & on time. I asked my steward for a kettle day 2 and he quickly provided one.

If you are going to request dry cereal, be sure to write in milk (skim, whole).  Same for coffee and cream/sugar.

We usually write in 2 boiled eggs and a fruit plate. The fruit plate was always different, but very generous and enough for 2 we felt.

Thanks to all for your answers.  Since we are in a mini-suite, looks like we will have some writing to do.  Breakfast is generally the only meal we do room service.

Are fresh (or defrosted) berries available? I like blueberries on my muesli.

  15. Hot Breakfast from Room Service

Posted April 13, 2010. For several years we have written additional items on the continental breakfast room service card that were hot items (omlette, bacon, etc.) and they were always honored. Strandard Hotel for an industrial city like Electrostal. For one night is ok. The room is ok. What I did not like was the receptionist not very friendly and the breakfast which was very poor.
