Things To Do On Rodeo Drive

Beverly Hills is known around the world as one of the most fashionable places to shop with its crown jewel, Rodeo Drive, on par with Fifth Avenue in New York, Bond Street in London, Avenue Montaigne in Paris and Ginza in Tokyo. With more than 100 famous stores comprising its three palm-fringed blocks within the Golden Triangle, the city's central business district, it is easy to become lost in the street's unique splendor and charm.

Located at the base of Rodeo Drive on Wilshire Boulevard is one of Beverly Hills' oldest and most luxurious hotels,  Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel . Constructed in 1928, this legendary hotel has served many iconic personalities, including Warren Beatty, John Lennon and Elvis Presley. Today, it is known as the "Pretty Woman hotel" as it provided the backdrop to scenes from the classic film starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.

The hotel has restaurants such as  THEBlvd , serving local California fare with Mediterranean influences under airy lofty ceilings or out on a patio overlooking the world-famous Rodeo Drive. There's also Michelin recommended  CUT   by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, serving some of the choiciest cuts of steak and seafood in the country with a sleek and all-white modern décor designed by Richard Meier, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect of The Getty Center. For small plates and a wide selection of wine and cocktails, look to the hotel’s two lounges, CUT Lounge  and THEBlvd lounge.

Not to be missed is the Spa at Beverly Wilshire , where you can recharge your mind and body at this magnificent Forbes Five-Star Spa. If you don't have time for a meal or spa treatment, take a few minutes to admire the beauty of the hotel’s lobby, complete with seasonal floral displays, set beneath a massive crystal chandelier.

Just across the street from Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, sits Two Rodeo Drive , Beverly Hills’ own European-style shopping enclave complete with a cobblestone walkway, street lamps and floral displays. World-renowned brands from  Versace , Jimmy Choo  and  Lanvin , to  Tiffany & Co.  are found here. For outdoor dining, try  208 Rodeo Restaurant ,  offering beautifully presented and imaginatively prepared California cuisine with views of an elegantly curved European-style cobblestone walkway.

For the perfect photo to add to your collection of Beverly Hills memories, strike a pose in front of the stairs and fountain on the south end of Two Rodeo Drive, as well as the famous Via Rodeo sign on the north end of the cobblestone street.

While the Hollywood Walk of Fame honors those in the entertainment industry, fashion superstars have a sidewalk tribute of their own. On Rodeo Drive, from Wilshire Boulevard to South Santa Monica Boulevard, walk among some of the world's well-known fashion icons on the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style® , everyone from Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani and Herb Ritts, to Salvatore Ferragamo, Gianni and Donatella Versace and Mario Testino. First introduced in 2003 by the City of Beverly Hills and the Rodeo Drive Committee, Walk of Style honors fashion legends for their contributions to the fashion and entertainment industries. Recipients are selected by an independent group of representatives from media, entertainment and fashion, and are honored with a permanent plaque featuring a personal quote and their own signature. These plaques are then embedded into the sidewalk of Rodeo Drive as a lasting tribute to each honoree.

Situated on Rodeo Drive between Dayton Way and Brighton Way, visitors will find an architectural masterpiece, Anderton Court , by Frank Lloyd Wright, who played a key role in the architectural movements of the twentieth century and was recognized by the American Institute of Architects as "the greatest American architect of all time." The three-story building houses six boutiques and is famous for its unique design which is completely devoid of steps and instead relies on a series of ramps to move between floors. Constructed in 1952, it was the iconic architect's final structure in Los Angeles County, making it an unofficial monument to the pioneering architect.

Rodeo Drive’s unrivaled shopping  options have solidified its status as one of the most prestigious retail destinations in not just California, but also the entire world. With more than 100 boutiques offering the finest in fashion, apparel, handbags, shoes, home accessories and jewelry, Rodeo Drive's stores rival those in the planet's most famous shopping districts. Not to be missed is a step inside the flagship stores from brands such as Chanel , Hermes , Cartier ,  Louis Vuitton , Loewe and Harry Winston , which carry their full collections, including items exclusive to their Rodeo Drive stores.

Did you know there is a MICHELIN starred restaurant on the rooftop of Gucci ? Visit  Gucci Osteria de Massimo Bottura in Beverly Hills - their Californian outpost of the Florentine flagship restaurant. Since February 2020, Gucci Osteria has embodied the same values of high creativity, inspiration and inclusiveness as the House of Gucci.

Another treasure that can be found on Rodeo Drive is a collaboration between a fashion designer and an automotive brand. House of Bijan’s  Bijan Pakzad's custom Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is one of the most popular attractions on Rodeo Drive, with hundreds of tourists snapping photos daily. This gleaming yellow Rolls-Royce has become a permanent fixture along the street, earning itself a matching yellow parking meter and sidewalk plaques featuring the brand’s logos beside its Rodeo Drive parking spot. Operating on an appointment-only basis, House of Bijan is one of Rodeo Drive's most exclusive men's store catering to everyone from royal families, celebrities and professional athletes, to dignitaries and even five U.S. presidents -  George H. W. Bush and his son, Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.

First opened in 1980, the Rodeo Collection is a 70,000 square foot retail and office complex housing over 45 luxury boutiques, salons and cosmetic-medical practices in the heart of Rodeo Drive. Additionally and hidden in the lower courtyard of the Rodeo Collection, is The Hideaway , an upscale Mexican steakhouse with 'push for tequila' buttons at their booths.

Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills: The Complete Guide

rodeo drive tourist

Christian Hundley / TripSavvy

Rodeo Drive is so famous that you might think you know everything you need about it already. Unfortunately, many people get the wrong idea about it and end up unhappy that they went. This guide will help you separate fact from fiction and find out what to expect and what you can do.

First things first. If you're talking about Rodeo Drive: the famous, fancy shopping street in Beverly Hills, don't sound like a clueless tourist. Learn how to say it right. It's not like the ROE-dee-oh where cowboys ride bucking broncos. Instead, it's pronounced roh-DAY-oh.

What to Expect on Rodeo Drive - and What It Isn't

You probably already know what Rodeo Drive is, but it's surprising how many people expect a different experience than what they get. Don't be one of them.

Some visitors expect to see hordes of celebrities strolling the street, but in fact, you won't find many of the glitterati roaming around with shopping bags dangling from their arms. On a busy day, you'll probably meet more tourists than locals, more gawkers than shoppers.

Other people go to Rodeo Drive thinking it's full of boutiques and local designers, but they find mostly the big, well-known brands instead. Others seem surprised that they can't find bargains and that prices are higher than in the discount stores at home, but think about it: What would you expect that in an area that has a reputation for being expensive?

"Doing" Rodeo Drive

The most things to do on Rodeo Drive are window-shopping and people-watching, both of which are less damaging to the pocketbook than its intended activity: shopping. While the shops are expensive, don't worry about looking out of place. Tourists abound, clad in off-the-rack fashions, gawking just like you might be.

Via Rodeo, now called Two Rodeo Drive, is a European-styled shopping concourse that resembles a movie set that sits at Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard. It's the best place for an "I was there" photo, just below the Two Rodeo Drive sign.

The rest of the street is understated, with single-story, simple shop fronts. A walk will take you past designer clothing shops by Armani, Gucci, and Coco Chanel; jewelers Cartier, Tiffany and Harry Winston; and exclusive couturiers where you need an appointment just to get in the door.

The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel at Rodeo Drive and Wilshire is the place where characters Vivian and Edward — played by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere — found love in the 1991 film,  Pretty Woman . The hotel's Lobby Bar looks out into Rodeo Drive and serves wine by the glass. They also host an afternoon tea that some say is best outside London.

Architect Frank Lloyd Wright made his mark on Rodeo Drive, designing the Anderton Court Shops (333 N. Rodeo Drive). The building has changed from Wright's original design, but its triangular tower and spiral ramp are obviously Wright's style. And speaking of architecture, contemporary architect Richard Meier (who designed the Getty Center) created the Paley Center for Media at 465 N. Beverly Drive.

If your stroll leaves you wanting to see more of Beverly Hills , meet the Beverly Hills Trolley at Rodeo Drive and Payton. Although this service no longer offers tour guides, it now runs for free during the day, so you can see more of the area even if your feet are sore.

Rodeo Drive Pros and Cons

The Rodeo Drive legend is much bigger than the street itself, and visitors often marvel at how small the shopping area is. It stretches from Sunset to Wilshire, but the Holy Grail of Shopping section is only three blocks long.

It's a fun place to visit for a few minutes. It doesn't cost anything to window-shop, parking is free, and the spectacle is fun to watch. But if you're bargain-hunting, you need to go somewhere else.

You can also spend a day — or an entire weekend — in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood .

Shopping Nearby

Just around the corner from Rodeo Drive on Wilshire, you'll find high-end department stores. On the streets parallel to Rodeo, you'll find the same kind of shops that are in upscale shopping areas everywhere. They're a good place to make a purchase and tell your friends at home: "I bought it in Beverly Hills." Aside from shopping, there are plenty of other things to do in Beverly Hills.

Parking at Rodeo Drive

Surprisingly, several area garages offer free parking:

Via Rodeo: On Dayton Way, north of its intersection with Rodeo Drive. Valet parking, but no parking charge. Take the driveway leading down to the underground garage. While it looks more like a hotel entrance than a place to park, this is actually a valet-only parking lot. Be sure to stow your receipt safely; you'll need it to retrieve your vehicle even if there's no charge.

Municipal Parking Garages: West of Rodeo on Brighton Way. Underground, do-it-yourself parking. Two more city parking structures can be found on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Visiting Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills: Here’s What To Expect

Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive shopping district with pedestrians

The three blocks of Rodeo Drive just north of Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles make up one of the most famous streets in the world. The street is known for its collection of ultra high-end designer and boutique shops and has been featured in more than a few films — from “Beverly Hills Cop” to “Clueless.”

As an Angeleno, I might be biased, but I think everyone should visit Rodeo Drive at least once, maybe venture into one of the stores and pretend you’re Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman.” Plus, beyond the luxury stores, there’s more to see on and around this swanky street. And I’m here to tell you all about it, including a few insider tips for your trip to Beverly Hills.

Your guide to three blocks of luxury

A yellow colored Rolls-Royce Phantom convertible parked on Rodeo Drive with luxury stores in the background in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California

The reputation of Rodeo Drive as an upper-upscale shopping destination started when a luxury boutique named Giorgio Beverly Hills opened in 1961. The guy who opened it, Fred Hayman, was later known as “the godfather of Rodeo Drive” — for good reason. Gucci and other luxury stores followed after, and all of that helped give Rodeo Drive the classy reputation it has today.

Luxe (window) shopping on Rodeo Drive

Luxury handbags on Rodeo Drive in a Beverly Hills shop window

Even if you can’t afford to buy anything from the Rodeo Drive shops, it doesn’t hurt to window shop — and maybe admire some of the nice cars on the street, possibly parked by those who aren’t just window shopping.

There are a few boutiques on parallel streets, but Rodeo Drive mostly contains well-known luxe brands like Louis Vuitton and Prada. It’s also home to what is reportedly the most expensive store in the world, House of Bijan, where you can pick up that $15,000 leather jacket you’ve just got to have.

The cobblestone-lined Two Rodeo Drive is probably the most charming section to walk around in. It’s a shopping center within a shopping destination, an immaculately landscaped outdoor mall that oozes with European charm and American commerce.

Don’t expect to see many celebrities shopping here, though. Many of the stores have private shopping lounges that only VIPs can go to.

Insider tip: Visiting around the holidays? They often have carolers during the festive season at Two Rodeo Drive. It’s a great place to go if you’re Christmas shopping. Even if you don’t buy anything, the phrase, “I was shopping for you on Rodeo Drive … ” has a nice ring to it.

Walk of Style at Two Rodeo Drive

It’s like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but make it fashion. The Walk of Style commemorates important people in the world of fashion and design with plaques on the ground. Each plaque also shows a personal quote from each of the featured honorees that makes it more interesting to read. The Southern end of the Walk of Style is marked by “Torso,” a striking aluminum sculpture of a nude female torso.

Exploring around rodeo drive in Beverly Hills

Rodeo Drive sign

Don’t restrict yourself to the three blocks of Rodeo Drive. There are quite a few things to see and do in the immediate area.

And be sure to bring your camera — this place is made for picture-perfect memories.

More shopping (of course) plus photo ops

Beverly Hills sign in front of water

On the northern end of the street, cross Santa Monica Boulevard to Beverly Gardens where you can take in some art and snap a photo with the Beverly Hills sign (a favorite on our Beverly Hills tour ). The parallel streets such as Canon Drive and Beverly Drive also have stores and restaurants worth checking out, including some great chocolate stores both old and modern.

Insider tip: If you’re crossing from Beverly Drive to Canon Drive, instead of using the street, walk through the Beverly Canon Gardens, just south of Dayton Way, a lush garden with a fountain and manicured plants.

Art galleries

Beyond shopping for fashion, Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills also offer great opportunities for art. Travelers and locals on a budget can still appreciate the art at the galleries.

Galerie Michael is a small fine arts gallery that’s been showcasing world-class art collection for more than four decades. For some contemporary art, check out Mouche Gallery on Beverly Drive. Meanwhile, for a famous touch, swing by Gagosian Gallery on North Camden Drive. It’s held exhibits of renowned artists such as Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, and more.

How far is Rodeo Drive from the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

Rodeo Drive is about 6 miles away from the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. In good traffic conditions it takes about 20 minutes to drive from one location to the other. You can certainly hit both spots known for their glamour in one day of touring LA’s best highlights .

Is rodeo drive expensive.

Rodeo Drive is certainly full of high-end designer stores that are expensive to shop at. This is not a place to hunt for deals.

That said, it’s free to visit and window shop. There are even parking garages in the area with two-hour free parking (no validation required), a rarity in Los Angeles.

Insider tip: The garages on Beverly Drive would be closest to Rodeo Drive. There are three of them — just look for the signs for public parking. There are more affordable stores in the surrounding blocks should you be inclined to do a little shopping after all.

What restaurants are near Rodeo Drive?

There’s plenty to eat around Rodeo Drive for all budgets. Splurging for a special occasion? Try the white-tablecloth steakhouse, The Grill on the Alley , just around the corner. Or maybe make a reservation at Wolfgang Puck’s famous Spago , a couple of blocks away.

Il Pastaio is a nice mid-range old school-Italian spot and Wally’s Beverly Hills is a good spot to stop for lunch or wine break.

If you’re looking for something more affordable, there’s the good old Nate ’n Al’s for deli food and Panini Kabob Grill (the sign outside may say Panini Cafe, but it’s all about the kabobs here).

Rodeo Drive stores and trees in Los Angeles

Let’s be honest, most of us can’t afford to shop regularly on Rodeo Drive, but as I’ve hopefully shown you here, you don’t need to go on a shopping spree to make the most of what this famous street has to offer.

Spare a couple hours to stroll the gardens, admire the window displays and art, snap a selfie at the Walk of Style, and gawk at the price tags. And maybe come home with some edible souvenirs from one of the chocolate shops, too. There’s plenty of Beverly Hills glamor here for everyone.

Rodeo Drive

Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood & Westwood

It might be pricey and unapologetically pretentious, but no trip to LA would be complete without a saunter along Rodeo Dr, the famous three-block ribbon of style where sample-size fembots browse for Gucci and Dior. Fashion retailer Fred Hayman opened the strip's first luxury boutique – Giorgio Beverly Hills – at number 273 back in 1961. Famed for its striped white-and-yellow awning, the store allowed its well-heeled clients to sip cocktails while shopping and have their purchases home delivered in a Rolls-Royce.

These days, most visitors to Rodeo Dr gravitate to Euro-flavored Via Rodeo, a compact cobbled lane lined with pastiche European facades, a smattering of cafe tables and no shortage of star-struck Japanese and Chinese tourists photographing its string of luxury boutiques.

The street is also home to Frank Lloyd Wright's 1953 commercial-residential complex Anderton Court, which features an angular ramp that leads up and around a hexagonal light well.

U.S. News Insider Tip: Stop for lunch at the hidden Mexican steakhouse, The Hideaway, on the subterranean level of the Rodeo Collection. – Sharael Kolberg, Contributor, Travel

Immortalized by Julia Roberts' "Pretty Woman" shopping spree, Rodeo Drive is an upscale shopping street in Beverly Hills that features world-class designer stores and small private boutiques. The area is popular with wealthy shoppers, sunglass-wearing celebrities and tourists hoping to see fashion icons.

Don't be afraid to browse. Visitors said the thoroughfare can be a bit boring if you don't plan on shopping, although past travelers with a passion for cars enjoyed looking for expensive vehicles parked along Rodeo Drive's curb.

Rodeo Drive is free to visit 24 hours a day, but shops and nearby eateries maintain varying hours of operation. Parking prices vary by location, but several areas offer waived fees for one or two hours. A few bus routes – including the No. 20, 4 and 720 buses – also make stops nearby. Several guided tours also stop at or cruise along Rodeo Drive. For more information and a store directory, check out Rodeo Drive's  website .

#1 Griffith Observatory and Griffith Park

Griffith Observatory sits on the south face of Mount Hollywood and overlooks the Los Angeles basin. Its location gives visitors impressive views of the surrounding area, which many rave about. But there's more than just a pretty photo-op here. The observatory hosts fascinating exhibitions and features a top-notch planetarium.

Most recent visitors cited the beautiful setting as Griffith Observatory's main draw, though the free entry was certainly a bonus. However, you will have to pay between $6 and $10 to see the planetarium shows. Griffith Observatory is open Tuesdays to Fridays from noon to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A gift shop and cafe can be found on-site as well. Beverly Hills Tours: Walking Around Rodeo Drive

The other day it occurred to me how I have never walked around Rodeo Drive, the most famous thoroughfare in Beverly Hills known for its luxury stores squished on four blocks.

I think I drove by once but can’t remember when.  As a long time Sothern California resident, I felt curious about what the area offers.  I have never been the shopping obsessed kind of traveler so I don’t feel the urge to have my photo taken in front of a Prada or Hermes store.

Fast forwarding a couple of days, I found myself on Rodeo Drive, the exclusive shopping district everybody mentions when talking about Los Angeles (even though Beverly Hills is an independent city).  It is not only Rodeo Drive, the elite business district extends to the streets that lie a few blocks in either direction of the aforementioned street. The area is known as “Golden Triangle”.

Seen on Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, California

Table of Contents

Rodeo Drive is a 2-mile-long street but the area of interest for visitors is the stretch between Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard.

The street started to be recognized as a luxury shopping mecca in the late 60s when Fred Hayman (the Father of Rodeo Drive), Aldo Gucci and Van Cleefs & Arpels opened stores on site.  Rodeo drive’s fame gained new heights when Bijan Pakzad opened a showroom in 1976 and dubbed it “the most expensive store in the world.”  The marketing technique worked well and the rest is history.

Rodeo Drive Shopping

What to expect? Rows and rows of name brand stores.  All the big fashion and high-end firms have a presence here.  There are modernly designed buildings, well-curated storefronts and a few racks with expensive goods.   In a move to avoid having a heart attack, I didn’t enter any of the stores to check the prices.

Roberto Cavalli, Tory Burch and Cartier Stores, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, California

You are going to notice a few people inside the stores. Plus, there are not that many people carrying chic bags on the street.

But, do not get confused. Los Angeles has more than 260,000 millionaire households (and our neighbor Orange County has more than 110,000).  You do not have to be a math genius to understand there is an enormous purchasing power in the area.  I have heard the ultra reach visit this places by appointment and are received in a private room.

The other thing that I have heard is that many of the stores on Rodeo Drive have a physical location for branding and marketing purposes.  Their main mission is not to sell.

Here is a list (partial) of brands found in this famous stretch: Saint Laurent, Max Mara, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Armani, Hermes, Vera Wang, Bijan, La Perla, Cartier, Tory Burch, Roberto Cavalli, David Yurman, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Tom Ford, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Ermenegildo Zegna, Burberry, Dior, Harry Winston, Burberry, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana

Best Photo Spots on Rodeo Drive

Now, a lot of people come to the area in search of nice photo opportunities.  You can not go wrong in here.  There are plenty of modern and aesthetically pleasing buildings.  Start by taking your photo in front of your favorite luxury store.

The sign announcing the Beverly Hills’ city limit and Rodeo Drive’s street signs are popular photo stops too.

At one point, you are going to notice a group of people standing around and photographing a vehicle.  There is a Rolls Royce Phantom parked in front of the House of Bijan .  The spot where the car is parked has its own yellow meter (the color characteristic of Bijan’s brand)  Make sure to take a good look at this car.  It may be your only opportunity to get close to a car valued at more than a million dollars.

And of course, everybody wants to make it to Two Rodeo Drive , a shopping complex built to resemble the old buildings and cobblestone streets of Italy.  It is interesting to note that one of the most expensive sushi restaurants in the United States (Urasawa) is located within the complex.  A lot of people like to capture the sign marking the intersection between Rodeo Drive and Via Rodeo.

Via Rodeo, Beverly Hills, California

At the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard, you will find the well-known Rodeo Drive Steps .  Be patient and try to capture the spot without the crowds.

Via Rodeo, Beverly Hills, California

The Anderton Court , located on a building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is another unique spot to check out.  You will find not find stairs on this three-story building.  Acess to the different levels is through a series of ramps.

Anderton Court Shops, building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, California

Hollywood is home to the Walk of Fame (known for its starts) but few are aware that Rodeo Drive has a Walk of Style .  This initiative honors men and women who have made significant contributions to the world of fashion.  Look for the square plaques along the sidewalks.  Designers such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Tom Ford have been recognized.

Maybe a lot of people are attracted to the area because of all the glamour revolving around it.  Rodeo Drive has been known to be used as a filming location for countless films and television shows.  People dream of walking into a superstar or getting even a small piece of something from there.

Other Beverly Hills Attractions

The city of Beverly Hills is more than Rodeo Drive. Within walking distance of Rodeo Drive, you can visit the Beverly Gardens Park , the City of Beverly Hills City Hall, the Paley Center for Media, the Beverly Canon Gardens and the Beverly Hills Hotel (famous for its pink color).

In addition, there more luxury good stores, restaurants, and cafes on the streets parallel to Rodeo Drive (within the Golden Triangle).  If you are in the area, continue your walking tours on the following:

  • Beverly Drive
  • Canon Drive
  • Camden Drive
  • Bedford Drive

Beverly Hills Sign, Beverly Hills, California

Where to Eat in Beverly Hills

Shopping rules in Rodeo Drive.  As a consequence, you are not going to find many restaurants or cafes.  However, you only have to walk a couple of blocks to find a delicious pot to satisfy your hunger.  Here are my recommendations for the area:

  • The Farm – Beverly Drive
  • Nate n’Al Delicattesen – Beverly Drive
  • M Cafe – Beverly Drive
  • Gratitude – Canon Drive
  • Panini Kabob Grill – Santa Monica Boulevard

If you have a few bucks to spare, these are some places to check in:

  • Mastro’s Steakhouse – Canon Drive
  • Spago – Canon Drive
  • Citizen – Canon Drive
  • Sugarfish – Canon Drive
  • Ocean Prime – Camden Drive
  • Crustacean – Bedford Drive

Satisfy your sweet tooth at Go Greek Yogurt and Amorino.  Sprinkles , a brand specializing in cupcakes, deserves a special mention because of its ATM cupcake dispenser.  Yes, you read that right! You can get your cupcake fix in a cinch!

Cofee lover should head to Brighton Coffee Shop or the Nespresso Boutique Bar.

Rodeo Drive Parking

Municipal garages provide two hours of free parking.  If you go over the two hours, get prepared to pay (it can be as much as $1.25 per every 15 minutes).

Parking structures are located in the following locations:

  • 9510 Brighton Way
  • 345 N. Beverly Drive
  • 241 N. Canon Drive
  • 438 N. Beverly Drive
  • 461 N. Bedford Drive
  • 216 S. Beverly Drive

If you are visiting Los Angeles, allocate some time to visit Beverly Hills.  It is located 9 miles from Santa Monica and 5 miles from Hollywood.  Therefore, it can be easily added to any itinerary for visiting Los Angeles.  My one day in Los Angeles guide has detailed instructions on how to incorporate Beverly Hills on a day of sightseeing.

Beverly Hills Tours

I am sure all the Los Angeles tour buses drive-thru here (very slowly and causing traffic).  You see all the cameras and iPads pointing to several spots on the road.  Everybody gets crazy when the buses pass by Bijan’s Bugatti in front of the namesake store.

Even though the tour sounds like fun, I recommend you visit Rodeo Drive and other Beverly Hills attractions on your own.  In that way, you can walk around at your own pace and stop wherever you want.

Where To Eat Around LA’s Tourist Traps

Where To Eat Around LA’s Tourist Traps image

Jess Basser Sanders

September 20, 2017

LA isn’t exactly the most tourist-friendly city in the world, but that doesn’t mean we’re void of tourist traps. In fact, we’ve got plenty. And when all your friends and family and old college roommates who you have nothing in common with anymore come to visit because it’s winter where they live, you’re going to be spending a lot of time at them. You can’t avoid your visitors and their need to photograph every star on the Walk of Fame, but you can avoid the terrible that finds its way into these kinds of places. For every concerningly-pink $14 hot dog, there are a few places down the block that are actually serving good food. Tip: Go to them. And use this as your guide.

Santa Monica Pier/Third Street Promenade

Cha Cha Chicken image

Cha Cha Chicken

After a few hours of watching once-wholesome families fall apart in public, you need a drink and some comfort food. Skip all the overpriced and aggressively lame bars in downtown Santa Monica and head to Cha Cha Chicken instead. This order-at-the-window Jamaican spot has absolutely fantastic food, a great patio to soak up the sun your visitors came for, and a beer and wine BYOB policy that’s as relaxed as you’ll find on the Westside.

Wexler’s Deli image

Wexler's Deli

Santa Monica

You’ve walked the length of the Promenade more times than you can count, and your friends are finally done watching that street performer with the sad monkey. Now you get to pick lunch. Don’t waste your time looking for decent affordable food in the packed outdoor mall, because there is none. Instead, head a few blocks away to Wexler’s. This place serves excellent bagels, pastrami sandwiches, and other deli classics, and you won’t have to wait an hour to get them.

HiHo Cheeseburger image

HiHo Cheeseburger

If you’re on vacation in America and don’t have a burger at least once, you haven’t really been on vacation in America. And this little spot a couple of blocks from the beach is the best place in Santa Monica to get one. The burgers are old-school (patties griddled within an inch of their life, cheese, lettuce, onion jam, and ketchup) and small enough that you’ll have room for their excellent key lime pie after.

Canter's Deli image

Canter's Deli

You’re not sure if you’re just having a mental breakdown or that’s real Christmas music playing over the loudspeaker in September, but either way, you need to get out of the Grove immediately and bury yourself in a sandwich. Luckily, Canter’s is right up the street. This Jewish deli is an LA classic with pastrami that’s almost as good as the people-watching.

Son of A Gun image

Son Of A Gun

Beverly Grove

You got lost for hours in the American Girl Place and suddenly it’s 7pm and you’re in need of dinner. Skip the options inside The Grove and take a walk (or a very LA Uber) down to Son of a Gun on West 3rd St. It’s a seafood spot from the guys behind Animal and Jon & Vinny’s that serves one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in town. It’s casual, loud, and a fun place to come with a crew. Mostly so you can try everything on the menu.

Hollywood Blvd.

Stout image

You didn’t see a single celebrity on your Star Homes tour, and you’re too upset to even go looking for Ryan Gosling’s name on the Walk of Fame. If you need to eat your feelings, go to Stout. This pub-style burger and beer spot just off Hollywood might look like every other middling joint in the neighborhood, but Stout is the real deal. The burgers are actually good, the beer list is extensive, and the space is usually full but never insanely crowded. Once you’ve downed an IPA and filled up on their burger and onion rings, you might even feel ready to get back out there and find a Kardashian.

Mama Shelter image

Mama Shelter

Did you stand in line for 20 minutes at that place in the Hollywood & Highland mall until you were in the right spot to see the Hollywood sign? Did you look at it and think “that’s it?” We’re not sure why that’s supposed to be the best place to get a good view of LA’s landmark, but if you’re looking for something prettier, go to the rooftop at Mama Shelter and gaze upon the beautiful sprawl. The colorful bar/restaurant has foosball tables, good cocktails, and lots of plates to share.

Rémy Martin

Croft Alley

West Hollywood

If you’ve come to LA to boost your social following, then your next logical stop - after exhausting all your blogger poses against the Paul Smith wall on Melrose - is to go find some food to take photos of. Luckily, Croft Alley is a short walk away and while it will look very nice in a photo (a charming indoor courtyard, string lights, wood tables), this place also has excellent sandwiches and salads that taste good too. Get the turkey banh mi.

It took you half an hour to find parking up at the observatory, and then still managed to get a parking ticket. Take yourself to Mustard Seed in Los Feliz. This tiny sidewalk cafe on Hillhurst is calm and relaxing and the perfect place to decompress while watching everyone wait for a table at Alcove across the street. Their menu is large and filled with all the sandwiches and salads you need to get your weekend back on track.

Little Dom’s image

Little Dom's

Little Dom’s is an Eastside staple and the perfect spot to grab some food after taking 63 jumping photos in front of the Hollywood sign until you got the one you liked. This low-key neighborhood Italian spot has fantastic food across the board, but if you go during the day and don’t get the breakfast pizza, you’re living a lesser life. Also, if you’re at Griffith for the sunset, Little Dom’s makes a great date spot afterwards.

The Trails image

Bakery/Cafe

Three hours of unshaded hiking while the sun seared the back of your neck has rendered your body immobile. Sit yourself at The Trails, Griffith’s tiny order-at-the-window cafe right off Los Feliz Blvd. with simple, good food and excellent baked goods, plus a quiet patio perfect for icing knee-caps.

Venice Boardwalk

Great White image

Great White

Your friends in town from Indiana have dragged you to the Venice sign, and after serving as their personal photographer for approximately forever, it’s time for them to buy you lunch. Or more specifically, breakfast for lunch at Great White. It’s almost directly opposite the sign and is home to a tasty tater tot-stuffed breakfast burrito and excellent coffee. Plus the interior is pretty enough that your friends will continue to be occupied.

Felix image

You spent the afternoon watching people pretend they didn’t come all the way to Venice just to sign up at The Green Doctors, and now you need a palate cleanser. Abbot Kinney is a short walk and another world away - one filled with tourists from Stockholm and many good restaurants to choose from. So we’ll make it easy: you should just go to Felix. It’s home to some of the best pasta in Los Angeles and a focaccia bread that will make appearances in your dreams.

Malibu Seafood image

Malibu Seafood

This old-school, order-at-the-counter seafood shack along PCH is hardly some diamond in the rough, but it’s one of the few places in Malibu that serves food worthy of its price. Especially because you’re eating it on a patio looking out over the ocean. Get the fish and chips and perhaps the best calamari in the world.

Malibu Farm image

Malibu Farm

Malibu Farm is the place you bring people you’re trying to convince to move to LA. Yes, the beach really is only a 30 minute drive from the city, yes, there are many beautiful people here, and yes, that is a cute little Scandinavian-inspired cafe at the end of a pier. When they start asking if you think they could afford a house out here, just keep smiling and nodding. You can break the news later.

Nobu Malibu image

Nobu Malibu

This Japanese restaurant sitting directly on the beach in Malibu could be considered a tourist trap in itself. It’s been on too many episodes of Keeping Up With The Real Housewives of Sur, and you’re almost guaranteed some kind of celebrity sighting. But the twist of Nobu is that even though Robert De Niro is a co-owner, the food here remains unbelievably good. And unbelievably expensive. Probably time to find a reality show to star in.

Rodeo Drive

Nate ’n Al Delicatessen image

Nate 'n Al Delicatessen

Beverly Hills

Rodeo Drive is full of characters, and if you want to continue people watching over food, you should head to Nate ’n Al. This is a classic LA diner so full of classic LA types you might think you’re on a film set. While you eat your pastrami sandwich, you can overhear conversation from 75-year-olds in matching pastel tracksuits, hungover people fresh out of college, and agents hashing out deals. The food is expensive but solid - you’ll probably be too distracted with the crowd to care either way.

Sugarfish Beverly Hills

Go from one LA landmark to another, slightly newer one. Sugarfish has become an institution in its own right, and with good reason: the sushi chain has really good fish at an extremely affordable price point. Get one of the Trust Me’s and you’ll understand why you just waited 45 minutes for a table.

  • Spencer and Kallie Wright's 3-year-old son Levi is in critical condition after driving a toy tractor into a Utah river
  • "We have received multiple small miracles along the way and doctors are certainly surprised by the strides he has made," Kallie said in an update shared by family friend Mindy Sue Clark
  • "Keep praying for him," Kallie added in the message

The 3-year-old son of rodeo star Spencer Wright is in critical condition after driving his toy tractor into a Utah river.

On Tuesday, May 21, at approximately 6 p.m. local time, the Beaver County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received a call regarding the incident, per a statement shared on Facebook .

After authorities responded, the child was quickly located and "life saving measures were administered on scene," the release added. The child was then transported to Beaver Valley Hospital, and later airlifted to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, the statement added.

Per ABC4 , the child has been identified as Levi Wright and is the son of Spencer Wright and his wife Kallie.

Family friend and spokesperson, Mindy Sue Clark, has been sharing updates regarding the tragedy on Facebook .

"Permission to share an update from Kallie Wright and Spencer Wright on Levi," one message read. "Levi's heart is beating on its own, he has a will to breathe but his sweet little brain was without oxygen too long and there is no coming back from that."

"We cuddled him all night and feel strongly that his spirit is no longer with us. We can't be selfish and drag this out for days, he doesn't deserve that. Shortly we will stop care and hold him close until his last breath on earth. My Baby, my beans, Mom & Dad love you always and forever!" the post added.

"Please give them time to navigate through this process. They will have more to share soon. Please send prayers for healing and comfort," Clark's message concluded.

The latest update shared on Clark's page from Kallie Wright on Wednesday, May 22, read, "Not much change in Levi since our last update but I do want you to know that we have received multiple small miracles along the way and doctors are certainly surprised by the strides he has made."

"He is fevering so they're keeping him really cold which is hard to watch, I can just hear him saying 'Mommy, I'm pretty coldy.' He is getting an eeg, to monitor any brain activity and we haven't heard much on what they're seeing yet," the post added.

"They've also started him on antibiotics and will do an MRI Friday or Saturday! We are unbelievably humbled by the love and prayers we have received, the help in all forms that is flooding our way is surreal. We miss our other babies, Mom hasn't spent a night away from baby until now but Brae and Steeley are in the best hands!" Kallie said while referencing her and Spencer's two other children.

"The doctors and staff here at primaries have been outstanding! We don't know what the future holds, please don't let prayers for my baby dim or his story become old news! Keep praying for him," Kallie said in the update.

Beaver County Sheriff's Office and Mindy Sue Clark didn't immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE.

Spencer Wright was ranked 35th in the world in 2023 by ProRodeo and was the World Champion in 2014. He's yet to address the tragedy on his own social media pages.

A California teenager allegedly tried to carjack a sheriff’s deputy as a mob trashed the cruiser during an illegal street takeover earlier this month.

The delinquent, 15, was among three people arrested for their role in damaging a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy vehicle in Highland, Calif. on May 11.

Shocking footage captured the large crowd kicking and jumping on top of the vehicle, which had already blared its lights to deter the vandals, according to KTLA .

A 15 year old was arrested for vandilizing and attempting to carjack a sheriff's deputy's car in California on May 11.

“A male juvenile kicked and punched the patrol unit with other unidentified subjects,” the Highland Police said. “The patrol unit’s windshield was completely broken along with other reported damages caused by the juvenile.”

The deputy rushed to close the door before fleeing to safety.

“When I saw that video, I immediately put myself in the deputy’s shoes, and I wondered how he was going to get out of it,” San Bernardino Sheriff’s Public Information Officer, Gloria Huerta said according to KABC.

“When he realized what was going on, he activated the overhead lights and in an effort to try and scare the crowd and get them to go away, however that backfired.”

The street takeover saw the intersection flood when one of the individuals opened up a fire hydrant to flood the road, making it easier for the drivers to drift.

A crowd of approximately 100 people illegally took over the intersection at Victoria Avenue and Highland Avenue on May 11, 2024.

Investigators used the phone videos shot at the scene to identify the teen as the primary suspect.

Police determined that the juvenile had opened the cruiser’s driver door to overtake both the deputy and the vehicle.

Huerta says the deputy’s decision to drive away from the scene as opposed to taking on the violent crowd might have prevented a lethal-force encounter.

An arrest warrant was issued for the teen along with a search warrant for his home.

The teen was arrested on May 23 at around 6:30 a.m. at his home and charged with attempted carjacking and felony vandalism.

He was booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.

Two hours after the first street takeover, a second one took place where two more people were arrested but subsequently released, according to NBC Los Angeles.

“These individuals are not afraid of law enforcement by their behavior, it’s very disturbing,” said Huerta, added. “Participating in this kind of thing, whether you’re a spectator or you’re a driver in one of those vehicles – you’re either going to get caught and go to jail or you’re going to hurt somebody and go to jail – or hurt yourself…it’s just not worth it.”

The teen was arrested on May 23 at around 6:30 a.m. at his home and charged with attempted carjacking and felony vandalism.

Last month, a swarm of “masked tough guy wannabe thugs” trapped a Virginia cop inside her patrol car as they jumped on the hood and tore it apart.

Another driver mowed down an officer, who suffered a bruised wrist, as he rushed to the scene to help.

Ronal Urrea-Hernandez, 18, was allegedly behind the wheel when he crashed into the officer before fleeing the scene.

A 20-year old, Dylan Heckard, was busted when he posted a selfie with a middle finger on social media and police found it.
