B&W Close up of a middle-aged white man sitting on a leather chair with a guitar propped across his body

Ronnie Bowman

One of the most celebrated singers/songwriters/producers in bluegrass today.

"Livin' the Life" by Ronnie Bowman and Chris Stapleton performed at the Country Music Hall of Fame

Born in North Carolina, Ronnie Bowman has made his name as a bluegrass singer and composer, playing and writing with some of the best names in country.

Early Start in Gospel

Like many southern artists, Ronnie Bowman's music career started with that old time religion. Alongside his four sisters, the young boy (he was three years old when he first performed) sang and played worship music throughout south-central Appalachia. What started as a way to bond with his sharecropping parents quickly turned into a career opportunity when the boy discovered he could earn a few quarters for a tune.

Bowman first started writing songs for his mother, Hazel, at age 14. That first little hymn inspired the teen to keep writing and eventually join The Lost and Found Band in 1988.

Collaborations and Projects

Bowman stays active as a songwriter, composer, and producer. Out of the dozens of artists he has worked with, some of the most notable are Chris Stapleton ("Outlaw State of Mind" and "Nobody to Blame" being examples of Bowman's work), Marcus King (for whom Bowman wrote "The Well"), and Kenny Chesney (Bowman wrote "Never Wanted Nothing More").

Ronnie Bowman has also been a member of a few bands over the course of his career. From 1990 to 2001, he was a member of the Lonesome River Band — during Bowman's tenure, they released four albums. Nowadays, Bowman plays with his own band, The Committee, as well as a Nashville group called The Likely Culprits, and bluegrass four-piece, Band of Ruhks.

Music Style

Though he doesn't have as iconic a voice as Chris Stapleton (a fact which he readily admits), "God made [him] Ronnie Bowman" and he certainly makes the best of it. His discography and producing credits reflect his southern origins through their styles and topics — whether that be as a solo artist, instrumentalist, or songwriter.

Born in the 1940s and raised in the 50s, Bluegrass music took some twists and turns in its teens and twenties. The 1960s saw Bluegrass bands going country with drums and pedal steel, while newgrass entered the world in the 70s. When Bluegrass reached its third decade, fans were loving the new but yearning for the old. The Bluegrass Album band dominated the market, playing traditional music with uptown class. And something was brewing over in Ferrum, Virginia, where a young super group was about to unleash its vision of a driving, modern sound that yet respected tradition.

From 1985 to 1988, the Lonesome River Band released three albums which guaranteed its place in Bluegrass history. By the time it released Looking for Yourself in 1989, it was clear this band had indeed found itself. So when it blasted into the 90s, there was no looking back. The band released a string of hits, ending the decade with the powerhouse lineup of Sammy Shelor, Ronnie Bowman, Don Rigsby and Kenny Smith.

But as with all things, bands must change. While Shelor went on to lead the LRB through various top-notch configurations, the rest went their separate ways to lead their own stellar careers.

Another decade passed by, and then it was 2010. Following a Lonesome River Band reunion performance that year, Bowman, Rigsby and Smith began to explore the possibility of making music together again. Like everyone else in Bluegrass, they realized the significance of their past works, but they were itching to do something new. Out of this desire and their longstanding friendship and mutual admiration, a new band was born.

Beginning as a trio called the Rambling Rooks, later the Band of Rooks, they pulled from a who’s-who roster of A‑list banjo players for shows around the country. In 2015, they released their first album, changing the spelling to Band of Ruhks for a self-titled project on the 101 Ranch Records label. Interest in that record and the demand for live shows led them to pick up a regular banjo player, and John Meyer ably filled the role for two years.

But, bands must change. When Meyer decided to move on, the Ruhks had a bright idea–Brian Fesler. Fesler had held the banjo role with the Lonesome River Band in its early days, appearing on the 1988 classic Saturday Night, Sunday Morning album before going on to lead a stellar career of his own.

With this lineup, it was only natural to return to Rebel Records. All the members had appeared on the label, and 2019 found them back again with the the October release of Authentic . Produced by Ben Isaacs and engineered by Mark Capps, the album was a classic from the day it was released, featuring special guests Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Rob Ickes (resonator guitar) and Christian music artists the Isaacs and Jason Crabb. All four band members contributed their writing talents, with ten originals and two traditional numbers. It’s an exciting project, and more than one reviewer has commented on the truth of its title. Four men doing what they do best–Bluegrass, pure and Authentic .

Ronnie Bowman has long been regarded as one of Bluegrass music’s finest singers and songwriters. With a string of awards (IBMA and SPGBMA Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, etc.) and numerous nominations and accolades, his resume is outstanding to say the least. He has written #1 hits for country artists and led his own band The Committee for years. In addition to this, he performs regularly with The Likely Culprits in Nashville and has toured with Lee Ann Womack as well as his old singing partner Dan Tyminski. Considered a formidable music producer, he can often be found behind the mixing console in the studio at the helm of various recording sessions.
Don Rigsby became the first full-time director of the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music in 2001. He remained in that position for 8 years. During that time he formed his own band Midnight Call and toured the US and overseas too. As a charter member of the all-star group Longview he always kept his strong love for old school Bluegrass music in the front of his musical conscience. Rigsby is also an acclaimed music producer, session musician and teacher. He is a sought after session vocalist and has provided harmony vocals on such projects as Alan Jackson’s Bluegrass Album (Along with Ronnie Bowman), James King’s Three Chords and the Truth and Peter Rowan’s Old School , to name some recent examples.
Kenny Smith formed a band with his wife Amanda Smith and immediately found success. The duo captured the IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year award their first year of existence. Since that time, they have enjoyed a remarkable journey of love and music that has led them all over the world. Smith is a two-time winner of IBMA Guitar Player of the Year and has been nominated multiple times. He is called for his expertise in the studio and as a guitar instructor and has various instructional materials that showcase his unique style and mastery of his instrument. His recent project The Return was a follow-up to his classic solo project Studebaker .
Brian Fesler was a founding member of the Dusty Miller Band in 1989, a legendary ensemble featuring Tim Stafford, Adam Steffey, Barry Bales and Tammy Rogers. He worked with Rigsby in the Charlie Sizemore band before heading north for a time and working with Minnesota artist Becky Schlegel. Co-producing four albums with Schlegel led to a string of production projects, including reissues of material from Bobby Bare, Vern Gosdin and J.D. Crowe. By 2017, Fesler had been back in Nashville for a number of years, performing, teaching and producing. When the Ruhks called, the fit was obvious and immediate, and he’s been a band member ever since.

New Single “It Takes A Woman” Out Now

October 13, 2023— Chris Stapleton ’s new song, “ It Takes A Woman ,” is debuting today. Listen/share HERE . Written by Stapleton, Ronnie Bowman and Jerry Salley , the song is the latest unveiled from Stapleton’s highly anticipated new album, Higher , which will be released November 10 on Mercury Nashville ( pre-order/pre-save ).

Produced by Dave Cobb , Morgane Stapleton and Chris Stapleton, Higher was recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A and showcases his supernatural voice and musical versatility across 14 songs that defy genre. Already receiving critical attention, Stapleton has unveiled two additional album tracks: “ Think I’m In Love With You ” and “ White Horse ,” of which Billboard praises “a hell-raising anthem, meant to be blared with windows down and enjoyed with ears ringing. ‘White Horse’ finds Stapleton pairing an outlaw swagger with some heaven-scraping vocals, going for the gusto throughout the chorus to try and match the guitar snarl.” Additionally, Consequence declares, “ ‘White Horse’ certainly suggests that Stapleton is leaning into his strengths as a cross-genre act” and Brooklyn Vegan proclaims, “one of the most jaw-dropping singles yet from an artist who rarely if ever misses.”

The new music adds to yet another landmark year for the 15x CMA Award-winner, who is nominated for three more awards at this year’s 57th Annual CMA Awards : Entertainer of the Year , Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year (“ We Don’t Fight Anymore ” with Carly Pearce ). The awards ceremony will be broadcast live from Nashville on ABC Wednesday, November 8 at 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT.

Alongside Stapleton (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide electric guitar), the new album features Cobb (acoustic guitar, eclectic guitar), J.T. Cure (bass), Paul Franklin (pedal steel), Derek Mixon (drums), Morgane (background vocals, synthesizer, tambourine) and Lee Pardini (organ, piano).

Shaun Murphy fires warning to players tempted by breakaway snooker tour

Cazoo World Snooker Championship 2024 - Day Seven

Shaun Murphy tells players considering leaving the World Snooker Tour that they should ‘be careful what they wish for’ as uncertainty could await them.

There have been plenty of rumours of a breakaway tour circling, with Judd Trump revealing he had been approached but dismissed the idea of leaving WST.

Mark Williams has been teasing that he may not be playing on the main tour next season , but nothing has been announced of a rumoured new circuit or who would be playing on it.

Murphy is well aware of the rumours but says he knows little about the venture and has not been approached to play himself.

‘It’s obviously something we’re talking about. We’ve heard a lot about it. I haven’t been approached by anybody, I don’t know anything about it,’ he said. ‘Nobody’s rung me.

‘I’m led to believe some players have signed NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) not to talk about it. I saw my name mentioned in despatches that I have. I haven’t. I don’t know anything about it and will finish this season and look to return to the tour next season.

‘I haven’t got any interest in it. As far as I’m aware it doesn’t exist. I haven’t seen anything about it. If that changes I’ll let you know, but at the moment I don’t know anything about it. It’s all rumour and hearsay, which I haven’t got time for.

Cazoo World Snooker Championship 2024 - Day Eight

‘I don’t think many of us do the game any favours talking about these things. It’s just conjecture and rumour. These people who have been approached know more than I do. I was pleased to see Judd nail his colours to the mast. He’s obviously been approached. That’s more than me.’

Ronnie O’Sullivan will not be joining any rival tour after signing an agreement with Saudi Arabia, but he has backed any players to take whatever offer they feel is best for them and their families.

Murphy can see why players late in their career might be tempted by an offer of guaranteed money elsewhere, but suggests that might show a lack of loyalty.

‘I’ve seen comments from players saying they’ve got to make choices for their families and what suits them. I think that’s right,’ said the Magician. ‘These players have had their time, maybe, they’ve had their years.

‘They’ve taken and taken and taken from the sport and they want to take even more. Good luck to them. It’s a shame they haven’t considered putting a little bit more back into the tour that’s given them so much before they run away.

‘But I know very little about it. I’d be scared to comment on it really because I don’t know enough about it. I assume these players are being paid a lot of money and who am I to say they shouldn’t be taking it. I half understand it.’

Players are allowed to play exhibition events when WST tournaments are not being held, but Murphy is keen that anyone joining an actual rival tour, clashing with WST events, should not be able to dip back in.

‘I think I’d like to see a situation where players have to declare their allegiance one way or the other,’ he said. ‘They can play on the World Snooker Tour with the majors, the Triple Crowns, the history and heritage that Judd talked about.

‘Or they can go and play on a new tour with unknown backers, people we don’t know. How long does this pot of money last? It’s a case of be careful what you wish for.

‘I wouldn’t like a situation where players can go off and then come back and play in the Triple Crown events. I don’t think that should happen. You stick your flag in the ground, declare your loyalty somewhere and see how we go.

‘Players want the independence to play where they want when they want and I really do understand that. I’m not sure you can have your cake and eat it.’

Murphy was beaten 13-9 by Stephen Maguire in the second round of the World Championship on Sunday and the Scot had a different view on any opportunities that might be arising elsewhere.

The 43-year-old said: ‘I’m only hearing it from other players. I think it’s good.

Cazoo World Snooker Championship 2024 - Day Nine

‘If somebody else is interested to come in and some of the numbers being thrown about is interesting.

‘My ears are always open, I’m always listening. I’ve not been approached, but my door’s always open. Why not? If there’s a few years guaranteed [money], especially someone like me who is having to go to these qualifiers. I know it’s my own fault, but I don’t enjoy it.

‘If there’s another opportunity there that doesn’t mean Barnsley, Leicester then I would seriously think about it. I’m listening, my phone’s always on.’

No one rocks like The Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger, band thrill on Hackney Diamonds Tour

ronnie bowman tour

HOUSTON − It’s not only stunning, but it's somewhat miraculous that more than 60 years after their first tour, the Rolling Stones are still filling stadiums.

It’s even more head-spinning to realize that along with their treasured hits, the Rolling Stones are enhancing their set list with a trio of songs from last year’s well-received “Hackney Diamonds” – their first album of original material in 18 years and the impetus for this 16-city tour.

We’d call it a victory lap, but frontman Mick Jagger is better suited for marathons.

At the kickoff Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston, the core triumvirate of Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood – along with their supporting cast of exceptional musicians and singers – hit the massive stage to the sounds of Richards’ slashing out the riff of, fittingly, “Start Me Up.”

Jagger, the nimble CEO of Stones Inc., peacocked in a silver shimmering jacket, his elastic legs a mere pedestal for his rotating torso.

Richards, still owning his disheveled pirate look with a knit cap and multicolored scarf dangling from his hip, and Wood, grinning continuously and occasionally scampering down the lengthy catwalk, retained their roles as faithful consiglieres.

There isn’t a patch of smooth facial skin among them (Jagger and Richards are 80 and Wood is 76). But with the energy to plow through an 18-song, two-hour set – yes, shorter than previous Stones shows, but still fulfilling – no one is looking to crown them pageant winners.

More: Jon Bon Jovi talks 'mental anguish' of vocal cord issues, 'big brother' Bruce Springsteen

While the band needed a couple of songs to fully find their groove – the striding cadence of a reworked “Get Off Of My Cloud” and a ramshackle “Rocks Off” felt curious rather than robust – Jagger compensated with his riveting presence and still-supple vocals.

Along with the “Hackney Diamonds” songs plucked for their major live debuts (the band played a few of the new tracks at an intimate New York club gig in October ), including the feisty “ Angry ” and encore of gospelized “ Sweet Sounds of Heaven ,” the 1966 tune “ Out of Time ” also received its U.S. debut. The band revived it last year during some performances for the overseas Sixty tour.

“I don’t think you really knew it, but you got to know it,” Jagger said with a smile after leading the nearly full stadium through the arm-waving chorus.

As typical for a Rolling Stones production, the stage ran the width of the stadium, blanketed with screens beaming images of the band with magnificent clarity. Close-ups of drummer Steve Jordan, who assumed rhythm duties after the death of original drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, joyfully thundering through the gem “ Paint It, Black ” and birthday boy Chuck Leavell ripping out a fleet-fingered solo on his Yamaha keyboard on “Honky Tonk Women” offered fans a peek at the magic happening a few feet behind Jagger and Co.

During the always-visceral “ Sympathy for the Devil ,” as serpents and fire crawled across the screens, Jagger prowled through the sinister groove, augmented by percussion provided by background vocalist Bernard Fowler and chunky bass lines from Darryl Jones.

Keyboardist Matt Clifford added French horn to “ You Can’t Always Get What You Want ” as Jagger, playing an acoustic guitar, strolled through the message of acquiescence that escalated into a gospel throwdown.

The horn duo of Karl Denson and Tim Ries coated many familiar anthems – “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Miss You” among them – with their rich brass sounds. But, as fans have realized over the decades, the ominous “Gimme Shelter” remains a centerpiece of any Rolling Stones concert, and Jagger has a new onstage playmate in powerhouse background vocalist Chanel Haynes.

The woman who starred as Tina Turner in the West End musical of Turner’s life and officially became part of the band last year steamrolled through “Gimme Shelter” with a voice blaring attitude and vigor. As she and Jagger strolled the catwalk, sharing vocals and chemistry, Jagger wisely backed off a couple of times, allowing Haynes to unleash her theatrical verve.

But this is still Jagger’s circus, and whether he’s bobbing like a jittery prizefighter or wiggling his shoulders like the world’s most slender Chippendales dancer, he is an octogenarian who captivates.

The band has enlisted various openers throughout the tour. In Houston, blues-rock guitar ace – and Texas native – Gary Clark Jr. landed the opening-night slot and for 45 minutes enchanted the mostly full stadium.

With a large band – five musicians, three background vocalists – behind him, Clark was the epitome of cool in dark shades and a bandanna as he took the stage with “Maktub” from his recently released fourth album, “JPEG Raw.”

Clark is a big name for an opener (then again, it is the Rolling Stones) and he used his time well with massive licks on the crunch rockers “Bright Lights” and “This is Who We Are,” with singer Naala joining him.

The soul-inflected “Feed the Babies” seared as a set highlight as the singer/guitarist displayed sizzling playing and a breezy vibe for the crowd.

Quarter final line-up revealed

There we have it then. The quarter final line-up is complete after a couple of dramatic matches this evening.

Here's what we're looking at heading into the crunch part of this year's competition.

  • David Gilbert vs Stephen Maguire
  • Kyren Wilson vs John Higgins
  • Judd Trump vs Jak Jones
  • Stuart Bingham vs Ronnie O'Sullivan

Higgins reacts

An emotional John Higgins tells BBC: “That was crazy wasn’t it.

“That clearance was probably the best [I’ve had] when I think about everything I’ve been through the last couple of years, when fallin g at hurdles.

“So to do that with the biggest pressure. I actually felt great and I’m thinking ‘I have to go for the double’.

“Mark [Allen] has so much bottle. When he’s on that break I thought he’d done it again.

“He’s a gentleman, he’ll be devastated. But he said some nice words.

“I think I’ve still got it. I gave myself a chance with a new cue and that’s given me a bit of confidence and I fancied having a go at my shots.

“I’ve loved being out here. I’ve loved playing here and I’m proud of myself.

“I’ll give myself a pat on the back, I’m pretty good under pressure!”

Jack Lisowski 11-13 Stuart Bingham

Stuart Bingham follows John Higgins into the last eight after a dramatic match comes to a close on the other table.

No real pressure on Bingham in that frame as he hits a lead of 75-0 before Lisowski offers his hand in concession.

Another grueling match but it's experience that counts once more and Bingham is through!

ronnie bowman tour

Waiting on Higgins

The BBC reporting that he's yet to leave his dressing room, understood to be hugely emotional.

Allen reacts

Mark Allen speaking to BBC says: "I had more than enough chances to win it and I didn't take them.

"Credit to John. He does what John does.

"He's one of the good guys on tour.

"I'll be coming back."

Mark Allen 12-13 John Higgins

An incredible match. That'll be one of the images of the tournament.

And you can bet that picture will be in the papers tomorrow - especially north of the border.

The comeback in that frame starting with a sensational double.

Incredible.

HIGGINS HAS DONE IT!!

A 71 clearance sees him recover from 62-0 down to win the deciding frame against Mark Allen.

His arms are aloft and he looks incredibly emotional.

Remarkable scenes as he celebrates this huge win. The Wizard of Wishaw appears incredibly close to tears. That means so, so much to him!!

Mark Allen 12-12 John Higgins (62-44)

Incredible pot! Higgins' break is still on as it fires its way into the corner pocket.

Incredible stuff and he pots the brown.

Just colours to go and they're all on their spots.

Mark Allen 12-12 John Higgins (62-39)

One red to go. And it's near the bottom cushion.

Poor positional play on the black means he's left with a tricky shot on the red to keep this break going.

Jack Lisowski 11-12 Stuart Bingham (0-60)

Bingham still at the table in this break of 40. There's 75 on the table to play for so he's close to victory there but the reds aren't sitting pretty for him.

Mark Allen 12-12 John Higgins (62-1)

Higgins with a sensational double! It was the only shot that was on.

The crowd in here go absolutely crazy for that. If it'd missed, it was his lost shot of the championship!

But it arrows into the middle pocket and now he has a chance to close this gap right down.....

Mark Allen 12-12 John Higgins (62-0)

Nearly frame - and match - over there!

A 62 break for Mark Allen comes to an end when he overcuts a red into the left corner pocket!

It bounces relatively safe but Higgins springs out his seat, with 75 points to play for!

Mark Allen 12-12 John Higgins (6-0)

Allen with a great plant to sink a red into the left corner pocket and leave himself on the blue. That goes into the left centre pocket.

A little chance here to get into a strong position in this one.

Mark Allen 12-12 John Higgins

Higgins close with a long red into the corner pocket.

But he misses AND leaves the cue ball down the table.

Jack Lisowski 11-12 Stuart Bingham (0-20)

Bingham with an early lead in this frame but they're back trading safety blows.

We'll bring any major updates on this one but focus turns to the decider.

What a match it's been.

Mark Allen to break in the decider.

ONE FRAME SHOOTOUT!

Absolutely extraordinary. A final frame decider to see who gets their place in the quarter final as John Higgins clears up from that green that Allen left.

ronnie bowman tour

Mark Allen 12-11 John Higgins (41-37)

Higgins is snookered on the green but does get out it well.

And he's a couple of millimetres away from potting it! He leaves a good chance for Allen to pot....

But that JUST misses it bounces across the table and over the green pocket! A huge chance for Higgins....

Mark Allen 12-11 John Higgins (39-37)

Allen was snookered. But he plays off the near cushion to the red, sending the ball flying across the table and right into the centre of the right corner pocket!

Dennis Taylor labels it the 'shot of the championship' as Allen marches round to the cue ball. Did he mean it? Only he'll know.

But he has to play safe on the next shot with a narrow lead.

Jack Lisowski 11-12 Stuart Bingham

Great stuff from Bingham as he clears the table - after a lucky yellow to start!

But needing the black, he makes his way through the colours and clears up to edge in front in this one!

ronnie bowman tour

Mark Allen 12-11 John Higgins (33-37)

And it's tense here, too.

Down to the final red which is awkward on the right cushion. Higgins pots the black and looking to play for position on that red. But he canons into the blue and has to play the snooker.

Jack Lisowski 11-11 Stuart Bingham (72-58)

Jack Lisowski gets the important red!

And right on the pink, straight as you like, he MISSES it to the corner pocket!

Jack Lisowski 11-11 Stuart Bingham (71-58)

This time he does hit the red.

One red left and 13 points behind, Bingham returns to the table.

Oh, another miss! Four points to Bingham this time but Lisowski fortunate he doesn't actually leave the red on here too!

So he's put back in to take it again.

Jack Lisowski 11-11 Stuart Bingham (71-54)

Lisowski hits the black when trying to get out that snooker and Bingham gets the seven points.

Fair enough. Making sure he got the snooker was the right idea.

Photos: The Rolling Stones show no signs of slowing down as they begin new tour

Time marches on and all good things must come to an end. But don’t tell that to  The Rolling Stones .

What many believe to be the greatest rock ’n’ roll band in the world showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon as they kicked off their latest tour Sunday night at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

The Stones have been touring for more than 60 years. Frontman Mick Jagger and lead guitarist Keith Richards are both 80, with guitarist Ronnie Wood not far behind at 76. Their tour is being sponsored in part by AARP.

But during a vibrant two-hour show, the Stones played with the energy of band that was on tour for the first time.

“It’s great to be back in the Lone Star State,” Jagger told the packed stadium, filled with longtime fans, many wearing faded concert shirts from previous tours.

Jagger often strutted up and down the stage with seemingly boundless energy while Richards and Wood played many familiar guitar riffs beloved by fans. Jagger often led the audience in sing-alongs.

“The energy level is up and it’s always up with them. The age doesn’t show,” Dale Skjerseth, the Stones’ production director, said Friday before the concert.

The Stones have hit the road to support the release of their latest album,  “Hackney Diamonds,”  the band’s first record of original music since 2005.

Houston was the first stop on the band’s 16-city tour across the U.S. and Canada. Other cities on the tour include New Orleans, Philadelphia and Vancouver, British Columbia. The tour ends on July 17 in Santa Clara, California.

During Sunday’s 18-song concert set list, the Stones played several tracks off the new record, including lead single  “Angry.”  They also played classics including “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Gimmer Shelter,” Honky Tonk Women” and “Start Me Up.”

After playing “Beast of Burden,” Jagger said that concertgoers in Houston had voted to include it on the set list.

“You can’t go wrong with that,” one man in the audience could be heard screaming.

The Stones also played some unexpected choices, including “Rocks Off,” from their 1972 double album “Exile on Main St.” and “Out of Time,” a 1966 song that Jagger said during the concert had not ever been played by the band in the U.S.

With the 2021  death of drummer Charlie Watts , the Stones are now comprised of the core trio of Jagger, Richards and Wood. On Sunday, they were backed by various musicians including two keyboardists, a new drummer, backup singers and a brass section.

While the stage was surrounded by a large collection of video screens projecting images throughout the show, the main focus of the concert was the band and their songs

Before Sunday’s concert, Jagger spent time on Friday touring NASA’s Johnson Space Center in suburban Houston, posting photos on his Instagram account of him with astronauts inside Mission Control.

“I had an amazing trip to the space center,” Jagger said.

When asked if the band might be thinking about retiring, Skjerseth said he doubts that will happen.

“This is not the end. They’re very enthused,” he said.

Ronnie O'Sullivan into second round of World Snooker Championship with 10-1 demolition of Jackson Page

Ronnie O'Sullivan thumps Jackson Page 10-1 to reach second round of World Snooker Championship; seven-time champion to play Ryan Day in second round at The Crucible; John Higgins also into round two after 10-6 win over Jamie Jones

Ronnie O'Sullivan breezed into the second round of the World Snooker Championship as he began his pursuit of a record eighth title with a 10-1 demolition of Jackson Page at The Crucible.

O'Sullivan - aiming to become just the fourth man, after Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis and Mark Williams, to win The Masters, UK Championship and World Championship in the same season - led Page 8-1 overnight and wrapped up victory on Thursday afternoon.

The 48-year-old will play Ryan Day in the last 16 following Day's 10-8 win over 15th seed Barry Hawkins on Wednesday night.

Day's victory means the number of seeds dumped out in the first round has reached a record-equalling eight, with defending champion Luca Brecel and four-time winner Mark Selby among those to fall.

O'Sullivan has won five tournaments already this season, with his Masters and UK Championship triumphs, for a record eighth time each, joined by victories at the World Grand Prix, Shanghai Masters and World Masters of Snooker.

The Rocket's win over Welsh qualifier Page - who took his only frame of the match with a superb 142 break - was his most emphatic since beating Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 10-1 in the first round four years ago.

O'Sullivan moved one frame from victory over Page with a 79 break and then booked his place in the second round in 40 minutes.

'I have played terrible for two years but I know how to win'

Ronnie O'Sullivan, speaking to the BBC:

"I was pleased with my performance. I played and cued well which was good. Jackson is a really good player so I knew I had to be on my game. It was one of the hardest first-round draws I could have got.

"I played terrible for two years but I know how to win. That is something I am blessed with. I don't lie when I say I am not playing well. A lot of people think I am but I am not a liar. I say what I feel.

"I haven't really cued smoothly but I have started working with Nic Barrow, a coach who knows my game inside out, as I decided I can't coach myself anymore.

"I have felt as good on the practice tables in the last couple of weeks as I have in the last six to seven years.

"I just play. The harder the test the more I see it as a challenge. I have trained hard all my life and I am mentally tough and ready to play whenever."

Higgins also into round two - but is this his final year at Crucible?

John Higgins (PA Images)

Four-time world champion John Higgins - who won the title at The Crucible in 1998, 2007, 2009 and 2011 - completed a 10-6 win over Jamie Jones to book his place in the second round for the 26th time in his career.

Resuming from Wednesday evening's opening session with a slender 5-4 advantage, Higgins won the first two frames to assume control, but began to feel tension after a missed pink in the next enabled Jones to reduce the deficit.

Even at 9-6, Higgins looked far from convincing and another missed pink hauled the Welshman back into the contest before the veteran Scot ultimately limped over the line.

Higgins, who will face Mark Allen in the last 16, said: "I began to miss a few and thought, 'oh no, don't do this again'. Obviously you don't want it going 9-7 or 9-8.

"Who knows where I'll be in a few months' time, but my only focus was getting through that first round game and having a crack at Mark Allen."

Higgins, 48, recently that he would "evaluate his future" at the end of the tournament.

In the first of the second-round ties, third seed Judd Trump will take a commanding 6-2 lead into Friday's second session against Tom Ford .

Trump punished Ford for missing a routine red when he was 63 points up in the fifth frame, and on the verge of establishing a 3-2 lead. Instead the former champion hit back to snatch the frame, and subsequent breaks of 52 and 69 set him up to also win the last frame of the session and move four clear in the race for a place in the quarter-finals.

David Gilbert , who beat defending champion Luca Brecel in the opening round, built a 5-3 lead against Robert Milkins in the opening session of their last-16 clash, which resumes to a finish on Friday.

Breaking news, progressive ny rep. jamaal bowman duped by fake ‘chief rabbi of gaza’.

U.S. Representative Jamaal Bowman in a suit, holding a microphone at an event against a pro-Israel lobbying group in New York, March 23, 2024

Rep. Jamaal Bowman and his campaign were duped by the parody social-media account of the fake “Chief Rabbi of Gaza.”

The phony X account of “Rabbi Linda Goldstein” is infamous for spouting anti-Zionist vitriol to ensnare unsuspecting progressives unaware that it is satirical.

The rabbi messaged Bowman about sponsoring a fundraiser for his Democratic primary campaign.

Under Hamas rule Jews were not allowed in Gaza, and the only ones there now are hostages and IDF soldiers attempting to rescue them — something Bowman evidently didn’t pick up on when he began corresponding with the account.

Bowman, a member of the far-left House “Squad,” has become one of the most vocal critics of Israel and defenders of Hamas in Congress.

He is currently locked in a fierce primary battle with Westchester County Executive George Latimer, with polls suggesting Latimer could beat him badly .

“I really hope you win, I would love to host a fundraiser with you,” Goldstein messaged Bowman in a private X message on April 11. The message prompted a reply from the congressman’s account just 30 minutes later.

“Thank you, how do we get in touch with you?” Bowman asked. Goldstein promised Bowman she has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars before, adding “my anti-zionist community can’t wait to help.”

“Hi Rabbi, this is Bowman’s staff, we’ll have a member of our finance team follow up with you,” read another direct message from Bowman’s account, noting, “We’re grateful.”

Goldstein’s schtick as an over-the-top Palestinian-loving rabbi has won her a cult following.

“I’m organizing an aid convoy to the @Columbia campus,” Goldstein posted last week . “We need: Glamp Tents; Volunteer Baristas; Oat Milk; Keffiyeh’s; Canada Goose Jackets; and Alo Leggings.”

In other tweets she has condemned Passover as Israeli “genocide” against Egyptians ; and posed with photoshopped terrorists in front of a “Menorah for Justice” made of rockets.

She has urged Hamas fighters to  practice social distancing  in terror tunnels.

The account is operated by a pro-Israel attorney named Michael who declined to provide his last name.

“Antisemitism is a low IQ disease,” Michael quipped to The Post when asked about the exchange.

A rep for Bowman dismissed the exchange as a “standard staff response to a direct message.”
