Luxury Travel Collection welcomes 3 new members

Three luxury travel agencies have confirmed they will join the luxury travel collection from 1 july, 2024..

The new members will bring the portfolio of independent brands to 11 in total, in addition to the foundation brand, Travel Associates.

The three new boutique luxury businesses to become members of Luxury Travel Collection are: Complete Travel Services and World Wide Travel, both based in Melbourne; and Luxury Cruise Escapes, based in Noosa.

World Wide Travel’s Simone Kaye is looking forward to the start of trading on 1 July.

The Luxury Travel Collection recently hosted its first Business Owners Soireé on Hayman Island for more than 100 business owners, managers, supplier partners and LTC executives.

Divas Through The Decades is a one woman show covering divas through the decades from the vintage era, to the 60s and 70s, right up to the current day.  Singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Lulu, Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion are just a few of the iconic power houses that feature in the show.

Simone has spanned her 20 year career travelling around the world having sung for major artists such as George Michael, Take That, Ariana Grande, Paloma Faith and Emeli Sande.  She has performed for the Queen and the Royal Family more than once, taken to the stage at iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena and the London O2 and sang as part of the official choir for the closing ceremony at the 2012 London Olympics.  She has also appeared on BBC1’s “I Can See Your Voice” wowing the judges as the Olympic Performer as well as a TV Judge on the BBC1 show “All Together Now”.

She brings her BRAND NEW show to the stage with her soaring soulful vocals, outstanding stage presence and emotive song choices which will WOW any audience.  It will bring you to your feet, pull at your heart strings and leave you wanting more.

Dr Simone Kaye is an Australian trained Specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who provides general Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy services. 

Simone’s undergraduate training was in South Australia and Gastroenterology and Hepatology training was in South Australia, Western Australia and as an advanced Fellow in Hepatology in the United Kingdom.

Simone worked as a consultant in the North of England for the NHS for over 8 years prior to her return to Australia in early 2014. She worked in private practice in Brisbane and publicly at the Sunshine Coast Hospitals and at QE2 in Brisbane.

Dr Kaye has an interest in all aspects of General Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr Kaye has fostered an interest in inflammatory bowel disease and functional bowel conditions. She continues to see all aspects of General Hepatology disease.

An original production by writer, composer and lyricist John Mercurio, the show adds a modern spin to Lewis Carroll’s classic story.

“‘Through the Looking Glass’ is incredibly visual, engaging and funny,” the show’s director, Andrew Kato, said in a statement.

Mercurio tells the story of a teased and bullied Alice who is ignored by her classmates and escapes through her bedroom mirror to Looking Glass Land.

After meeting Carroll’s classic characters including the Red Queen, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the Caterpillar and Humpty Dumpty, Alice learns about self-acceptance, self-esteem and standing up for herself.

“The production is reflective of the youthful issues that kids face every day, and Alice learns real-life lessons from the kooky characters along her journey,” Mercurio said in a statement. “This production will appeal to all ages because everyone can identify with Alice. Everyone has gone through that difficult time of their life when they struggle with fitting in.”

The show features original choreography by West Palm Beach choreographer Ricky Nahas.

All three students are triple-threat actors – meaning they can act, sing and dance – and were discovered through the theater’s First Step to Stardom auditions.

Anthony, a senior at Dreyfoos School of the Arts, who plays the Mad Hatter, is a veteran of local community theater and hopes to study theater in New York when he graduates.

“I love acting,” he said. “It’s an amazing experience and an opportunity to tell a story and affect people’s lives. You get two hours to change someone’s life in some small way.”

“This is not your typical through the looking glass story,” Anthony said. “It’s presented in a more magical way with a message: Don’t be someone you’re aren’t; be yourself.”

For Anthony it’s a chance to put his signature on a newly originated role.

“We had the chance to work one on one with the show’s creators,” he said. “To see what they thought when they put the words onto the paper and to originate a role.”

Kaye, who has appeared on stage at the Lake Worth Playhouse, is part of the ensemble.

“I do 80 million different things,” she said.

Not only is she gaining experience and doing something she loves, but she said she’s also having fun.

“In one scene I’m a kid, then I’m a floating door,” she said. :Rehearsals are going so well, we’ve been able to cut down on rehearsal time.”

Kaye’s dream is to go on to the Dreyfoos School of the Arts to continue in theater.

“I picture myself staying in theater,” she said. “I can’t see myself doing anything else – it’s my true passion.”

Also part of the ensemble playing a student, a chess piece and a speaking card is Taylor, a music major at Dreyfoos. She’s studied dance for six years and has appeared on stage at the Lake Worth Playhouse.

In her first show at the Maltz, Taylor said her mother helps to motivate her.

“I’m happy with myself,” she said. “My mother motivates me to do well and encouraged me to try everything.”

“Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass” opens at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.
