Stan was amazing. His stage energy is awesome especially knowing what he had gone through medically. He relates with his audience in a personal sincere and friendly manner.

The Prince Bandroom is not suited for live bands and unfortunately on this occasion the sound was far too loud and for the majority of the night the band drowned out Stan’s wonderful voice. This could have been adjusted by the sound mixer but wasn’t.

Despite that we still enjoyed Stan’s performance especially his rendition of Purple Rain. Cheers!

Stan Walker Tickets

Stan walker concert tickets.

Get ready to groove with your Stan Walker tickets from TicketSmarter. Like many great R&B artists , Stan Walker has a knack for interacting with audiences. Fans will enjoy moving and swaying to the beat with a multitude of others. Their genre can be traced back to African American communities in the 1940s. At first, it was a mix of jazz that was driven by a heavy and consistent beat. It had a distinct influence on the development of rock and roll. R&B has been associated with musical acts that might be more traditionally considered as rock groups. British rock bands like the Rolling Stones, The Who and the Animals were all promoted as R&B bands at some point in their history.

During the 1970s, R&B became associated with soul and funk. In many ways, the genres are used interchangeably. Artists like Stevie Wonder demonstrate this blend well, as many of his tracks can fall into any one of these categories. Contemporary R&B became more popular in the 1980s and 1990s with the influence of hip-hop and electronic music. Popular artists such as Mariah Carey represent this more modern style of R&B and soul. You’re bound to hear a mix of R&B and soul tracks with your Stan Walker tickets.

All In: Stan Walker to embark on nine-date nationwide tour ahead of releasing new music

Singer-songwriter Stan Walker will return to the stage this September with his new nationwide tour, All In.

And stans of the singer, rejoice: the 'Bigger' hitmaker will be exclusively performing brand-new music from his upcoming album,  All In - Walker's first studio release in more than five years - alongside fan favourites and his classic tunes.

"It's going to be a whole new show - we've put a lot of effort into [this]. Everything from the screens to the stage set-up. I'll be doing a lot of new songs, new music, and some of the old hits. We're revamping a lot of it - a brand-new show no one has ever seen," Walker told Newshub ahead of the tour's announcement.

More from Newshub

The All In tour will span nine shows across Aotearoa, beginning in the Bay of Plenty's Mount Maunganui on September 23 - a place close to Walker's heart.

"I love being home. Any time it's a home performance - even Tauranga, that's my home -  I can't wait to do those ones," he said.

"Hopefully my family come out and support me!"

Featuring an all-star line-up of lauded local talent, the All In tour has locked in hip-hop heavyweight Kings, Wellington-based soul singer Louis Baker, R&B-reggae songstress Hamo Dell and newcomer Crete as supporting talent.

Walker says the line-up is a reflection of "brown excellence" in Aotearoa's flourishing music scene.

"They're incredible talents, incredible artists. We're all very different, but one thing I love is we're all very proud, staunch Māori - it's kind of a tour of brown excellence," he told Newshub.

"I've got a relationship with these artists, they're all my friends. I've always wanted to do more with them - they were in straight away. The tour is called All In, and everyone is literally all in. it represents so much of where I'm at, it's pretty cool."

The hitmaker is now looking forward to sharing his new songs with Aotearoa, a sound he says has taken four years to perfect.

"My music is very different from what people may have heard from me [before]. It's been four years in the making… this is something I've been growing into as the person I am now," he told Newshub.

"The music is very soulful and R&B [oriented]. I've got a lot of features - there will be a lot of collaborations with the artists that are touring with me, and possibly some other people."

The upcoming project is a celebration of Walker's personal and professional growth, reflecting his musical transition from Australian Idol alum to pop personality to fully-fledged artist. His latest songs explore a number of "mature" themes, he explained, lending themselves well to live instrumentation.

"It's a very mature album. It's not just music over the last four years, it's my journey and my growth. All the different seasons I've been in over the last four years - and there've been a lot of seasons," he laughed.

"I talk about a lot of stuff from love, to heartbreak, to climate change, to mental health, to racism - finding my place and my home. I think they're really good songs and really good songs for the band [The Levites] - I had the boys play a lot of the live instruments on this album.

"I can't wait to showcase [the songs] and have people listen to where I've been at."

And the prospect of live performance in a world still tightly held in COVID-19's clutches isn't lost on Walker, who says he feels "blessed" to be able to embark on a tour when so many nations remain void of concerts.

"It feels so good. That's where I'm alive, that's where I'm at my best - on-stage with my band, with my team, performing. I prefer that way more than recording and releasing new songs. People get to hear the performer, hear the story-teller, get to experience the whole experience.

"We're so blessed we can do it, I can't wait to come alive on stage."

A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to mental health advocate Mike King's charity, I Am Hope, to support young people in Aotearoa who are battling mental illness.

"This is my way I can have a tangible contribution - it's one thing, social media posts - anyone can do that, that's for free. But counselling is not for free," Walker explained.

"If I can't invest in the next generation, even if it's just a portion, then I'm kind of talking smack in everything that I do."

Walker will be taking his tour to nine locations across Aotearoa, beginning in Mt Maunganui at Trust Power Bay Park on September 23 and concluding in Auckland's Town Hall on October 8.

Fans can also catch Stan Walker's All In tour on September 24 at Whanganui's War Memorial Hall; September 25 at Napier's Pettigrew Green Area; September 26 at Wellington's Porirua Te Rauparaha Arena; September 27 at Nelson's Trafalgar Centre; September 30 at Christchurch's Town Hall; October 1 at Dunedin's Town Hall; and October 2 at Invercargill's ILT Stadium Southland.

"I'm bloody excited," he said. "It's going to be so awesome."

Tickets are available from stanwalker.net from 7am on July 21.

In conversation with Stan Walker about his memoir, inspirations, and where to next

Culture Thu Dec 10 2020 by Jiwoo Lee

With 2020 bringing the light on to many of our talented Kiwi artists, it’s always rewarding to look at our ever-evolving musical legends. We talked to the  Kiwi singer-songwriter, Stan Walker,  the man who’s got many talents under his belt, about his goals for his life and career, what he's most thankful for, and the inclusivity in the NZ music industry.

stan walker tour

Are you excited for a splendid Kiwi summer? What are your plans? Any shows we should look forward to?

I’m so pumped for summer and for some downtime. Spending time with the whanau- I have Christmas in New Zealand with my wonderful future wife Lou – then early January some beautiful time with my Mama and Pappa in Aussie! I miss them both so much. Then, I’ll back in NZ for a very exciting run of shows - stay tuned.

You must be so stoked for being able to tour even during tough times! How does it feel and what are you most excited for?

2021 I am blessed with some brilliant festival events - ONE LOVE in February which for me is always a very, very special event (shout out to the team PATO - I love you guys) - Selwyn Sounds and Homegrown in March. I’m busting to play Major Flavours - the MAI FM Auckland event! So many great acts on the bill!

I’ve been listening to your music since 11 years ago. How do you think you’ve evolved as a musician throughout the years?

I feel the greatest evolution is in my songwriting. I have been privileged to work with some FIRE writers - I am currently working on a song with Jojo. And just working with brilliant writers like Parson James,  Matt Sadgrove and Vince Harder have helped me shape the way I want to write and co-write my songs. I feel that my evolution has been to bring MY story into my Songwriting - my last three releases, BIGGER, GIVE and CHOOSE all reflect what’s in my heart. I have a whole new album of songs that I have co-written coming in 2021- I feel so proud of this collection- my most personal!

Superdry has some unique designs catering to many different wearers! I especially love the mix of texts and imagery! What do you LOVE about Superdry and their latest campaign?

I love its spirit - it makes me feel good and wanna get up and dance every time I put anything on from Superdry.

How do you yourself align with the brand? They do so many sportswear and streetwear!

I am the number ONE fan! Ask the Auckland Store team! Superdry is perfect – you never feel underdressed or overdressed - super clever design I’d say!

How would you describe your own sense of style? Everyone has different styles so it would be great to know more about yours!

My own personal style would have to be described best by being free, eclectic, no rules, lots of colours, brave and fun. Sort of reflects back to who I am!

stan walker tour

I cannot leave the house without jewellery… What’s the one item of clothing you can’t travel without?

Such an impossible question! If you have been backstage in my dressing room at a concert, you know I don’t travel light. My Manager knows when I fly it’s always an extra suitcase (I always carbon offset!). You gotta have as many options as possible!

Can’t disagree with you there! What are your thoughts on New Zealand’s music scene compared to the international?

New Zealand inspires me so deeply because the greatest resource in  NZ is her people. We punch above our weight in the film, in sport, design and particularly in music. The NZ Music Awards showed great diversity but also had a great spirit of solidarity. I am so proud to call the NZ music industry my whanau.

Everyone’s raving about your memoir book. You must be so happy with it! What did you expect with the outcome? I feel like it must be very special to you and your family.

Everyone has a story to tell, I am humbled that people found their story -  or part of it and something they could relate to in mine.

Now, where do most of your creativity come from? What are you most influenced by?

Without question the beautiful spirit and purpose of Maori art and culture for sure.

You’re in inspiration to young Kiwi artists, so, what’s your number one advice for those who are wanting to start their career in music?

START IT! A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. Get your music out there on streaming platforms, get a YouTube and get some content up.  One of the world’s next break-through stars I forecast currently is recording music in their bedroom in N

About Stan Walker

Exhibiting rare staying power and versatility since winning Australian Idol in 2009, Stan Walker has set a shining example for young singers to come. Born in Melbourne in 1990 before being raised in New Zealand, Walker capped his Idol victory with the hit “Black Box,” a string-swept showcase of his soaring, R&B-inflected pop vocals. The accompanying debut album, Introducing... Stan Walker, saw him reinterpret the likes of Prince and The Carpenters with equal parts passion and discipline. Walker edged closer to dance-pop on 2011’s Let the Music Play, featuring the clubby anthem “Loud” and a romantic duet with Jessica Mauboy on “Galaxy,” while 2013’s aptly titled Inventing Myself saw him focus largely on original material penned with diverse co-writers. He finally got to tour with his musical hero, Beyoncé, that same year. On 2021’s spiritually rich Te Arohanui, Walker embraced his culture by singing primarily in the Māori language.

Interview: Stan Walker

stan walker tour

Stan Walker got his first taste of fame when he decided to take part in the final season of Australian Idol back in 2009. Not only did he blow the judges and viewers away with his gifted vocal chords and charismatic personality but he confidently and deservedly took the winners crown that year, starting a career that would see him releasing a string of hit records and support his idol, Beyonce, on her Australian Mrs Carter Show tour dates last year.

With his Australian Idol years behind him, Stan has been busy on the other side of the judges table, lending his experience and his musical expertise as one of the four judges presiding over the 2013 series of the X Factor in New Zealand as well as beginning an acting career, starring alongside kiwi acting royalty Temuera Morrison ( Once Were Warriors ) in his film debut Mt. Zion . He has also been busy planning his next attack on the charts and has recently released his latest single, Holding You where he is joined by fellow musician, Ginny Blackmore.

Stan arrived in town recently for a whirlwind promotional tour in support of his latest single and we we given the chance to have a sit down with the man himself to talk about his career and his upcoming album. Here is what Stan had to tell us when we met up with him this week…

Stan Walker made an emotional tribute at the 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards to his late father who had died two days prior.

Taiaho Ross Walker, who was involved in coaching, training and recruiting for rugby league clubs in Melbourne, had been battling cancer.

Walker was awarded one of two inaugural Te Manu Mātārae Tūī awards on Thursday night. The new award spotlights artists who have made a considerable impact on New Zealand music.

Walker was recognised for the cultural impact of his single I AM , which featured in Ava DuVernay film’s Origin , and “his deep commitment to te reo Māori and te ao Māori” said host Jesse Mulligan.

The Te Manu Mātārae Tūī was presented by Tāme Iti, with Walker, seated in the audience, visibly emotional during Iti’s speech.

Coming up to collect his Tui, Walker admitted he was shocked. “I’m a little bit flabbergasted.”

“I know that my dad was the biggest cloud chaser. His name on Tik Tok was ‘Stan Walker’s Dad’. I want to dedicate this award to my papa.

“I’m just so thankful to be here because we’re here for our kaupapa, to bring hope, life, healing and joy to people regardless of what’s happening in our lives.”

“We can be amazing because of who we come from.

“This is for my kids, this is for my wife, this is for my dad, this is for Aotearoa, this is for our whanau.”

AMA co-host Kara Rickard told the audience Taiaho Walker died this week.

“I don’t know if everybody knows but his dad actually passed away a couple of days ago.

She thanked him for “for coming and supporting the kaupapa and like he said, his papa would have loved this.”

It is understood whānau held a service in Melbourne and he was then to be farewelled at Waikari Marae in Matapihi, Mount Maunganui.

He was to be buried at Mangatawa in Tauranga, family members shared on social media, amidst outpourings of condolences and grief.

Another of Walker’s sons, musician Russ Walker, said on Instagram this week he was taking his father back home from Melbourne to rest.

In a statement on Facebook, the Casey Warriors rugby league club, based in Melbourne, said Walker had been fighting cancer for what “seems like an eternity”.

“Taiaho played an important role in recruiting, training, and coaching members across various clubs, leaving an indelible mark on the sport we all love.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks for his steadfast support and never-ending commitment to rugby league. His dedication to our players and members was unparalleled, and he will be dearly missed.”

The NZ Kiwi Melbourne Tag Facebook page added: “Koro Taiaho was always there whenever or wherever we or you needed him. He did so much for many of us - emotionally, financially and with pure genuine support. We will miss him dearly and our hearts will never be the same without him.

“Your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and work with you.”

In recent years Walker has spoken about reconnecting with and forgiving his father, detailing his difficult childhood in the Bay of Plenty in his book Impossible: My Story , published in 2020, and revealed that “God changed his [father’s] whole life”.

Talking to the Herald on the red carpet earlier on Thursday, Walker was sentimental. “Music is the most powerful tool to change people’s lives and move people, to make people feel something.”

Walker delivered a powerful performance of I AM during the show and joined Dame Hinewehi Mohi on stage at the end of the night.

Far from Faded: EDM star Alan Walker aims to release new song every month to stay relevant

stan walker tour

SINGAPORE – Alan Walker is already a household name in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene. Yet, the hustle does not stop for the English-Norwegian DJ.

The 26-year-old tells The Straits Times in a Zoom interview ahead of his June 14 concert at Singapore Expo that he has to release music often to retain favour among listeners. And in 2024, he has challenged himself to deliver a new song every month.

So far, Walker has dropped four tracks this year – Who I Am in January, Team Side in March, and Unsure and Hide Away (Alan Walker Remix) in May.

He says: “Music consumption nowadays is so rapid, and there is always so much new music coming into the market that you almost have to randomly feed your own catalogue to stay relevant.”

The EDM sensation and producer shot to fame overnight with his biggest hit, Faded, in 2015. It topped the Shazam Worldwide Top 100 Popular Songs in February 2016 and, a month later, became the world’s most Shazamed song. It is also currently the 28th most-viewed video on YouTube with more than 3.6 billion views.

Since then, he has churned out four studio albums and 55 singles. His latest album, Walkerworld, was released in November 2023.

Besides constantly updating his discography, Walker has found other ways to connect with his fans.

In mid-May, he set up WhatsApp phone numbers for fans in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia to message him. Besides Singapore, his ongoing Walkerworld Asia Tour Pt.1 will make stops in Jakarta, Macau, Kuala Lumpur and 10 cities in India.

To date, he has received more than 20,000 messages from those in Singapore, and has responded to more than 500 of them. “I think it’s really cool, and South-east Asia is an important market with important fan bases,” he says.

Although he has used other platforms to interact with listeners, such as creating a server on gaming-focused communications app Discord, they have not been specific to a particular region.

Walker recently took fan engagement to the next level. In a May 29 Instagram post, he described how he flew from New York to Medan, Indonesia, to meet a school teacher and his class of students whose covers of his songs went viral on Instagram a few months ago.

During the visit, Walker not only gifted the group with tickets to his Jakarta show on June 8, but also invited some of them to perform with him onstage.

Walker has often kept fans on their toes by springing surprises at his concerts. During his show in Chengdu in China in November 2023, he brought Chinese suona player Chuanzi onstage for a special performance of Walker’s song The Spectre (2017).

Similarly, Hong Kong boy band Mirror performed with Walker at his 2023 gig in Hong Kong, as part of his Walkerverse world tour.

To him, teaming up with local talents in the cities he plays at “adds deeper value for the people who come to the shows”.

Walker previously worked with Indonesian singer Putri Ariani on his single, Who I Am (2024), as well as Lay from K-pop boy band Exo on a remix of Lay’s song Sheep (2018). Walker adds that his “arms are wide open” to potential collaborations with Singaporean artistes.

After all, Singapore is also one of his “go-to places in the world”, he declares. He was last in town to perform at Marquee at Marina Bay Sands in September 2023.

“I love the architecture,” says Walker. “The vibe in Singapore is really cool. It’s very different for me, coming from Norway.”

His Singapore concert will mostly feature songs from his latest album Walkerworld (2023). However, the set list will also include tracks from older albums such as Walkerverse Pt. I & II (2022) and World Of Walker (2021).

According to Walker, the Walkerworld Asia Tour Pt.1 tour is the biggest he has embarked on to date, capacity-wise. The Singapore Expo venue he will play at can accommodate up to 5,000 concertgoers.

“I think it’s really cool that I even have the opportunity to assemble so many people in one place and share the one thing we all love, which is music.”

Toujours vivant, toujours debout
