By the end of this article, you’ll have all the information you need to put together a stylish and practical outfit for your sunset cruise adventure.

So, let’s dive in and discover what to wear on a sunset cruise!

Choosing the Right Outfit

When selecting your outfit for a sunset cruise, it’s important to strike a balance between style and comfort. You’ll want to choose clothing that allows you to move freely while also looking chic and appropriate for the occasion. Here are a few tips to help you choose the right outfit:

  • Consider the weather: Check the weather forecast before your cruise to determine if you’ll need to dress for warm or cool conditions. If it’s a warm evening, opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. On cooler evenings, layering is key, so bring a light sweater or jacket that you can easily remove if needed.
  • Think about the type of cruise: Different cruises have different vibes and dress codes. If you’re on a casual boat tour, you can go for a relaxed and comfortable outfit. For a more formal sunset dinner cruise, consider dressing up a bit more with a stylish dress or a smart-casual ensemble.
  • Reflect the overall ambiance: Take inspiration from the location and atmosphere of your cruise. If you’re cruising along a tropical paradise, opt for vibrant colors and flowy fabrics. If you’re exploring a coastal town, a nautical-inspired outfit with stripes or sailor details can be a great choice. Matching your outfit to the ambiance adds an extra touch of style.

Remember, comfort is key on a sunset cruise, so choose clothes that allow you to move and relax. Avoid anything too tight or restrictive, as it may dampen your enjoyment of the experience. With these considerations in mind, let’s explore the different components of a cruise outfit, starting with tops.

When it comes to selecting the perfect top for your sunset cruise, there are a variety of options to choose from. The key is to find a top that fits comfortably, suits the occasion, and complements your personal style. Here are a few top options to consider:

  • Lightweight Blouse: A lightweight blouse is a versatile option for a cruise. Opt for breezy fabrics like chiffon or silk, which will keep you cool and add a touch of elegance to your outfit. Choose a blouse in a vibrant color or a tropical print to embrace the vacation vibe.
  • Tank Top: If you’re cruising in a warmer climate, a tank top is a great choice. Look for one with interesting details like lace or embroidery to elevate your look. Pair it with shorts or a skirt for a casual and comfortable outfit.
  • Off-Shoulder Top: For a more stylish and feminine look, consider an off-shoulder top. This trendy style is perfect for showing off your sun-kissed shoulders and adds a touch of elegance to your ensemble. Pair it with high-waisted shorts or a flowy skirt for a chic and fashionable outfit.
  • Cropped Sweater: If you’re cruising in the evening or when it’s cooler, a cropped sweater can be a stylish and cozy choice. Opt for a lightweight knit material and pair it with high-waisted pants or a maxi skirt for a chic and comfortable outfit.

When choosing your top, consider the overall ambiance of the cruise and the type of bottoms you plan to wear. Aim for a cohesive look and don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles and patterns. The key is to feel confident and comfortable in whatever top you choose.

Now that we’ve covered tops, let’s move on to the next component of your sunset cruise outfit: bottoms.

When it comes to selecting the perfect bottoms for your sunset cruise outfit, it’s all about finding a balance between style and comfort. You’ll want bottoms that allow you to move freely while still looking fashionable. Here are a few options to consider:

  • Shorts: If you’re cruising in a warmer climate, a pair of shorts can be a great choice. Opt for a tailored or high-waisted pair in a fun pattern or a vibrant color. Pair them with a lightweight blouse or a casual tank top for a relaxed and stylish look.
  • Maxi Skirt: For a more elegant and feminine look, consider a maxi skirt. Look for a flowy fabric like chiffon or silk that moves beautifully in the ocean breeze. Pair it with a fitted top or a cropped sweater for a comfortable and chic outfit.
  • Wide-Leg Pants: Wide-leg pants are not only trendy but also comfortable and versatile. Opt for a lightweight fabric like linen and pair them with a tucked-in blouse or a stylish tank top. They can be dressed up or down depending on the overall dress code of your cruise.
  • Flowy Dress Pants: If you prefer a more polished and sophisticated look, consider flowy dress pants. Look for a pair in a breathable fabric like cotton or satin and pair them with a fitted blouse or a camisole. This combination is perfect for a sunset dinner cruise or a more formal event.

When choosing your bottoms, consider the weather, the dress code, and the overall vibe of your cruise. Opt for fabrics that are lightweight and comfortable to ensure a pleasant experience. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different styles and patterns to create a unique and personalized look.

Now that we’ve covered tops and bottoms, let’s move on to the next component of your sunset cruise outfit: dresses.

When it comes to choosing a dress for your sunset cruise, there are endless options to suit various styles and occasions. A dress is a versatile and convenient choice that can effortlessly elevate your look. Here are a few types of dresses to consider:

  • Sundress: A sundress is a classic option for a sunset cruise. Opt for a lightweight, flowy fabric like cotton or linen, and choose a vibrant color or a playful print to embrace the vacation vibe. Pair it with sandals or wedges for a casual and comfortable look.
  • Maxi Dress: A maxi dress is perfect for a more elegant and sophisticated look. Look for a dress in a breathable fabric like chiffon or silk that drapes beautifully. Opt for a style that suits your body shape, whether it’s a halterneck, off-shoulder, or wrap design. Complete the look with heels or wedges for a stunning ensemble.
  • Wrap Dress: A wrap dress is a flattering and versatile option for a sunset cruise. The adjustable waist tie allows you to customize the fit based on your preference. Choose a dress in a bold color or a floral print to make a statement. Pair it with sandals or espadrilles for a chic and effortless look.
  • Little Black Dress: For a more sophisticated and timeless option, consider a little black dress. Look for a style that suits your body shape and the overall dress code of your cruise. Opt for interesting details like lace, sheer panels, or an asymmetrical hemline to add some flair. Complete the look with statement accessories and heels for a classy ensemble.

When choosing a dress, consider the type of cruise you’re taking and the ambiance of the event. Keep in mind the weather and select fabrics that are comfortable and breathable. Whether you’re going for a casual or a more formal look, a dress is a versatile option that can make you look effortlessly put together.

Now that we’ve covered tops, bottoms, and dresses, let’s move on to the next component of your sunset cruise outfit: footwear.

Choosing the right footwear for your sunset cruise is essential for both comfort and style. You’ll want shoes that are practical for walking on the deck while still complementing your outfit. Here are a few footwear options to consider:

  • Sandals: Sandals are a popular choice for a sunset cruise as they are comfortable, stylish, and perfect for warm weather. Opt for flat sandals or ones with a low heel for ease of movement. Look for styles with interesting details like embellishments or metallic accents to add a touch of glamour to your look.
  • Wedges: Wedges are a versatile option that can add height and style to your outfit while still providing comfort. Opt for a pair with a stable heel and a platform for added support. Wedges in neutral colors like tan or beige are great for creating a sophisticated and chic look.
  • Boat Shoes: Boat shoes are a classic choice for a nautical-inspired cruise outfit. They are comfortable, functional, and stylish. Opt for boat shoes in leather or canvas with non-slip soles for added safety. Pair them with shorts, a striped top, and a hat for a timeless and casual look.
  • Espadrilles: Espadrilles are a trendy and comfortable option for a sunset cruise. They come in various styles, from flat to wedge, and are usually made with canvas or linen uppers and a jute sole. Choose a pair in a vibrant color or with fun patterns to add a pop to your outfit.

When selecting your footwear, consider the type of cruise and the surfaces you’ll be walking on. If you’re unsure, opt for versatile options that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Comfort is key, so make sure to choose shoes that you can wear for an extended period without discomfort.

Now that we’ve covered tops, bottoms, dresses, and footwear, let’s move on to the next component of your sunset cruise outfit: accessories.

Accessories

Accessories are the finishing touches that can elevate your sunset cruise outfit and reflect your personal style. They allow you to add flair and individuality to your look while also serving practical purposes. Here are some accessories to consider:

  • Hats: A stylish hat not only protects you from the sun but also adds a touch of sophistication to your outfit. Opt for a wide-brimmed hat for maximum sun protection, or choose a trendy fedora or Panama hat for a chic and relaxed look.
  • Sunglasses: A pair of sunglasses is a must-have accessory for any daytime cruise. Not only do they protect your eyes from the sun’s rays, but they also add a cool and glamorous touch to your ensemble. Choose a style that suits your face shape and complements your outfit.
  • Jewelry: Adding jewelry can instantly elevate your outfit. Opt for lightweight and statement pieces that won’t distract from the overall look. A pair of hoop earrings, a delicate necklace, or a stack of colorful bracelets can add a touch of glamour without overpowering your ensemble.
  • Scarves: Scarves are versatile accessories that can be worn in various ways. You can tie one around your neck, wear it as a headband, or drape it over your shoulders for a stylish touch. Choose a scarf in a vibrant color or a bold pattern to add interest to your outfit.
  • Handbag or Tote: A stylish and practical handbag or tote is essential for carrying your essentials during a sunset cruise. Opt for a small crossbody bag or a straw tote to keep your belongings secure while adding a trendy touch to your look.

When accessorizing, consider the overall vibe of your outfit and the type of cruise you’re taking. Aim to strike a balance between functionality and style. Remember, accessories are meant to enhance your look, so choose pieces that complement your outfit without overpowering it.

Now that we’ve covered tops, bottoms, dresses, footwear, and accessories, let’s move on to important considerations to keep in mind for your sunset cruise outfit.

Important Considerations

While choosing the right outfit for your sunset cruise is essential, there are a few important considerations to keep in mind to ensure you make the most of your experience:

  • Check the dress code: Some sunset cruises may have specific dress codes, especially if they are more formal or have specific themes. Make sure to check with the cruise provider or do some research beforehand to ensure you adhere to any requirements or recommendations.
  • Respect local culture: If you’re cruising in a destination with a different culture, it’s important to be mindful of their customs and traditions. Familiarize yourself with any dress code guidelines or cultural norms to ensure you dress respectfully and avoid any unintended offense.
  • Consider practicality: While you want to look stylish, it’s important to consider the practicality of your outfit. Avoid wearing highly delicate or restrictive clothing that may limit your comfort or ability to move around freely on the boat. Opt for fabrics that are breathable and easy to maintain.
  • Bring layers: Evenings at sea can sometimes get cooler, so it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket, cardigan, or shawl to keep yourself warm if needed. Layers not only provide comfort but also allow you to adjust your clothing to changes in temperature.
  • Comfortable shoes: Walking on the boat and potentially exploring the dock or nearby areas may require comfortable shoes. Ensure your footwear is appropriate for walking and comfortable enough to wear for an extended period without causing discomfort.

Lastly, don’t forget that enjoying your sunset cruise is ultimately about creating lasting memories and savoring the experience. So, while your outfit is important, remember to relax, have fun, and embrace the beauty of the setting sun and the open sea.

Now that we’ve covered important considerations, let’s wrap up this guide to what to wear on a sunset cruise.

Choosing the right outfit for a sunset cruise is an exciting part of preparing for your adventure on the open sea. By considering factors such as the weather, the type of cruise, and the overall ambiance, you can create a stylish and comfortable ensemble that enhances your experience. From selecting the perfect top and bottoms to choosing the right dress and footwear, each component of your outfit adds to the overall look and feel.

Remember to prioritize comfort and consider practicality when selecting your clothing and accessories. Pay attention to any dress codes or cultural norms that may exist, and respect the local customs of your cruise destination. Don’t forget to bring layers for potential temperature changes, and ensure your footwear is comfortable for walking and exploring the boat and surrounding areas.

Ultimately, a sunset cruise is a chance to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Your outfit should reflect your personal style and make you feel confident and at ease. Whether you opt for a breezy blouse and shorts, an elegant maxi dress, or a combination of stylish separates, the key is to ensure that you can fully immerse yourself in the experience while looking fabulous.

So, as you prepare for your sunset cruise, take the time to curate an outfit that allows you to feel comfortable, stylish, and ready to create unforgettable memories on the open sea.

What Do You Wear on a Sunset Cruise?

By Michael Ferguson

Are you planning to go on a sunset cruise and wondering what to wear? You’re not alone!

Dressing for a sunset cruise can be tricky, especially if you’re not sure what the dress code is. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with some tips on what to wear that will make you look stylish and comfortable.

Consider the Dress Code

Before you start putting together your outfit, it’s essential to consider the dress code of the sunset cruise. Some cruises have specific dress codes that guests are expected to follow.

For instance, some cruises may require formal attire, while others may be more casual. If you’re unsure about the dress code, don’t hesitate to reach out to the cruise company or check their website.

Clothing Options

When it comes to clothing options for a sunset cruise, there are several choices depending on the dress code and personal preference. Here are some ideas:

Casual Attire

If the sunset cruise has a casual dress code, you can opt for comfortable yet stylish clothing. You could choose shorts or capris paired with a flowy top or blouse.

Cotton dresses or maxi dresses also work well for a casual look. Just remember that even if it’s warm during the day, it can get cooler at night, so bring along a light jacket or sweater.

Semi-Formal Attire

For semi-formal attire, consider wearing a cocktail dress or a skirt and blouse combination. You can also choose tailored pants with an elegant top and accessorize with statement jewelry.

Formal Attire

If the sunset cruise calls for formal attire, then evening gowns or black-tie suits are appropriate. For women, long gowns in silk or chiffon fabrics work well for an elegant look. Men can opt for a tuxedo or a dark suit paired with a dress shirt and tie.

When it comes to shoes, comfort is key. You’ll likely be walking around the boat, so choose shoes that are comfortable and easy to walk in.

For a casual look, sandals or sneakers are perfect. If you’re dressing up, opt for dressy flats or heels. Just remember to choose shoes that you can dance in comfortably!

Accessories

Accessories can enhance any outfit and bring it all together. For a sunset cruise, consider wearing a hat to protect your face from the sun during the day.

Sunglasses are also essential for eye protection and to complete your look. A clutch or small purse is perfect for carrying your essentials like phone, keys, and wallet.

What To Wear On A Sunset Cruise

Danger Charters

Guests often ask what to wear on a sunset cruise, and we can see why. You want to know what to pack ahead of your Key West vacation! Is what to wear sailing in the evening the same as what to wear on a yacht day trip? Or do you need something a bit more formal?

Here we’ll talk about appropriate yacht attire, provide some sailing outfit ideas for ladies and gentlemen, and cover the best shoes for sailing.

What To Wear On A Yacht

When it comes to choosing what to wear for a boat cruise, your first priority should always be comfort. This goes for day-time sails and sunset cruises.

In terms of temperature, you want lightweight and light-colored fabrics so you don’t overheat when the sun’s out. Pack some layering options too, in the event we encounter a squall and you want to cover up. In the “winter” months (we don’t really have winter in Key West), you’ll want a light sweater, sweatshirt, or wrap as your cruise attire to keep the cooler wind at bay.

For a yacht day trip – during which you might snorkel or kayak – you probably want to make your swimsuit your first layer. Then, cover up with shorts, T-shirt or tank top, a sun dress, or just a sarong. Be sure to pack a towel, your sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock (ideally reef-safe).

Regardless of the time of your sail, keep in mind that you are likely to take a lot of photos during your excursion. Make sure you’ll be happy with your choice of sailing outfit, including how it may look when you’re sunlit (is your skirt see-through?) or when the wind makes your blousy top suddenly close-fitting.

Evening events typically call for more formal attire, but the Key West version of “formal” is still pretty casual. When your sail won’t be including watersports, like most sunset cruises , you won’t be needing your swimsuit and an easy throw-over – and that immediately takes your attire up a notch.

As a general rule, when drinks and appetizers are involved, you should dress up a little bit. So, the sailing outfit men choose might feature khaki or linen shorts or trousers, and a short or long-sleeved button down or collared shirt. Women may choose a dress in a lightweight fabric, cotton or linen shorts or trousers and a top, rather than a T-shirt. Denim is fine for men and women, although preferably not cut offs or ripped jeans. Hats and sunglasses are, of course, acceptable too.

When a full meal is served, especially if it’s a seated dinner, you are more likely to be expected to wear something more formal. Cocktail attire is probably best – so trousers and a blazer or a suit with or without a tie for men, and a short, mid, or long dress for women. If you’re unsure, call your host or the company you’ve reserved with for more information.

In all cases, make sure you can easily reach, take sizable steps, and maneuver in your sailing outfit. You will need step over, duck under, or reach up in order to safely navigate around the vessel.

Best Shoes For Sailing

Ok, let’s talk about which types of shoes to pack. Some boats require that you remove your shoes before coming aboard. At Danger Charters, though, we allow you to keep your shoes on. Even so, some shoes are better for sailing than others.

Heels, platforms, and boots aren’t wise footwear choices for sailing. The boat moves up and down and side to side with the wind and waves, sometimes heeling to one side (the best part!), so you want to be nimble and sure footed while on a yacht. There’s water around, so it can be easy to slip. Plus, these shoes can leave scuffs and dings on surfaces.

Better sailing shoes for women are flat – like ballet flats, sandals, sneakers, or waterproof shoes. Sneakers and water shoes are better for a day-time charter and ballet flats and sandals for a sunset cruise. Men will be most comfortable in boat shoes, slip on or lace up shoes, and sneakers. Flip flops are fine if you’ll just stick them in your bag and opt to go barefoot, but keeping them on may tempt them to fly away with the wind!

Regardless of what footwear you choose for your cruise, you will be most comfortable if the sole offers traction, the material is water resistant or dries quickly, and you have a bit of protection for the inevitable knocks and bumps from walking across a “foreign landscape.”

Layering Essentials

Mastering the Art of Layering for a Sunset Cruise

When planning your outfit for a sunset cruise, effective layering is key to staying comfortable and stylish as temperatures fluctuate.

Start with thermal underwear . This base layer not only keeps you warm but also provides a sleek foundation without adding bulk. Opt for neutral colors to ensure they blend seamlessly with your overall look.

Next, choose a chic fleece jacket . Fleece is an ideal mid-layer because it offers warmth while remaining lightweight and breathable. A jacket in versatile colors like navy or charcoal can easily mix and match with other wardrobe pieces. Look for one with a slim fit to maintain a streamlined and fashionable silhouette.

Add a light, wind-resistant outer layer over your fleece jacket. A classic trench coat or a tailored windbreaker can provide that extra barrier against the evening breeze, while still keeping your outfit polished. Brands like Patagonia or North Face offer excellent options that combine functionality with style.

Versatility is the key to successful layering . You should be able to add or remove layers easily as the temperature changes. By thoughtfully combining thermal underwear, a fleece jacket, and a stylish outer layer, you'll be prepared for any weather changes throughout the evening, all while looking impeccably chic.

Why Layering Matters

Layering isn't just about staying warm; it's about adapting to changing conditions efficiently. Starting with thermal underwear ensures you have a warm base, while fleece adds breathable insulation. The outer layer protects against wind, making your outfit both functional and stylish. This combination allows you to adjust as needed, keeping you comfortable and looking great.

Accessorize Smartly

Smart accessorizing for stunning sunset moments.

When you're out capturing that perfect sunset, it's important to accessorize in a way that complements both your comfort and style.

Choose practical jewelry that won't get in the way of your sunset photography. Minimalist pieces like stud earrings or a simple bracelet can add a touch of elegance without being distracting.

Wear a stylish hat to protect your face from the sun's remaining rays. Not only does this add a layer of sophistication to your look, but it also protects your skin from UV damage. A wide-brimmed hat or a classic fedora can be excellent choices.

Carry a light scarf with you. As the temperature drops with the setting sun, a scarf can keep you warm and enhance your outfit seamlessly. Opt for a fabric like cashmere or a soft cotton blend for both comfort and style.

Choose Practical Jewelry

Choose Practical Jewelry for Your Sunset Cruise

When planning your outfit for a sunset cruise, opt for minimalist and lightweight jewelry . This choice ensures comfort and prevents any snagging on clothing or hair. Simple, elegant earrings can add a touch of sophistication without being too flashy. Consider small hoops or straightforward studs in gold or silver—they seamlessly blend with most outfits and keep your look stylish yet comfortable.

Bracelet watches are a smart and practical choice. They combine style with functionality, making it easy to transition from day to night. A slim, elegant gold or silver bracelet watch not only enhances your outfit but also helps you keep track of time as you enjoy the sunset. This practical accessory ensures you look polished while serving a useful purpose.

Avoid heavy and elaborate pieces to maintain ease and comfort, steering clear of overly elaborate or heavy jewelry that might feel cumbersome or get tangled. Instead, aim for subtle elegance that highlights your natural beauty. Delicate necklaces and thin bangles can enhance your look without overwhelming it. By choosing practical jewelry, you strike the perfect balance between style and function, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the sunset cruise experience without any distractions.

Top Product Recommendations

  • Minimalist Earrings: Try Mejuri's Small Hoops or Studs in gold or silver.
  • Bracelet Watches: Consider the Daniel Wellington Classic Bracelet Watch in silver or gold.

Opt for Stylish Hats

Elevate your style with trendy hats.

A trendy hat can enhance your look while also offering essential sun protection during your sunset cruise. Wide-brimmed hats are a great choice, blending style and practicality. These hats not only protect your face from the sun but also add a touch of sophistication to your outfit.

Choose materials like straw or raffia , which are breathable and ideal for a warm evening breeze.

Fedora hats are another stylish option for your cruise. They're versatile and effortlessly chic, suitable for both casual and more dressed-up occasions. You can go for a classic woven fedora for a timeless look, or opt for a felt fedora if the weather is cooler. Pair your fedora with a light, flowing dress or tailored shorts and a crisp blouse for a polished appearance.

When picking out a hat, make sure it complements your outfit's color scheme. Neutral tones like beige, white, or navy are versatile and can match almost any ensemble.

Bring a Light Scarf

Enhance your sunset cruise outfit by bringing along a light scarf. This accessory isn't only stylish but also functional when the evening gets cooler. As the sun sets and temperatures drop, having a scarf on hand can make your experience more comfortable.

Choose the Right Material

Opt for a lightweight, breathable fabric like silk or cotton. These materials are easy to drape and won't feel heavy. A scarf in a vibrant color or with an intricate pattern can serve as a focal point for your outfit. Drape it loosely around your neck for a relaxed look, or wrap it snugly for extra warmth.

Versatility Matters

Consider multifunctional options like an infinity scarf. These can be styled in various ways, making them a versatile addition to your wardrobe. For instance, you can use it as a shawl or even a headwrap if the wind picks up. A scarf isn't just practical; it adds a layer of sophistication to your cruise attire.

Why It's Important

A light scarf provides essential wind protection and adds elegance to your outfit. The temperature can drop unexpectedly as the sun dips below the horizon, so having a scarf ensures you stay comfortable. This small addition can make a big difference in your overall experience.

Practical Tips

  • Material : Choose silk or cotton for breathability.
  • Color and Pattern : Go for vibrant hues or intricate designs to make your outfit pop.
  • Versatility : An infinity scarf offers multiple styling options.

Don't forget to include a light scarf in your sunset cruise ensemble. It's a chic and practical accessory that ensures you're prepared for any changes in weather while keeping your look effortlessly stylish.

Weather Considerations

Preparing for your sunset cruise: dressing smart and stylishly.

Checking the Weather Forecast

Before heading out on your sunset cruise, it's essential to check the weather forecast. This helps you dress appropriately, balancing style and comfort regardless of the conditions.

Managing Temperature Swings

Sunset often brings a noticeable drop in temperature. To stay warm and stylish, layering is a smart strategy. Consider bringing a lightweight sweater or a denim jacket. These options are both breathable and insulating, keeping you cozy without sacrificing fashion. For instance, a well-fitted cashmere sweater can add a touch of elegance while providing warmth.

Wind Protection

Even on calm days, a breeze can pick up during your cruise. Protect yourself from the wind with a trendy windbreaker or a tailored trench coat. These items not only offer protection but also add a sophisticated touch to your outfit. Accessories like a wind-resistant hat or stylish gloves can further enhance your look while keeping you comfortable.

Rain and Humidity Considerations

Pay attention to details like humidity and potential rain. If there's a chance of precipitation, a chic raincoat or an elegant umbrella can be crucial. These items keep you dry and can complement your overall style. For example, a modern, clear umbrella can look stylish and match any outfit.

Blending Practicality with Style

The goal is to combine practicality with elegance. Every element of your outfit should serve a dual purpose: offering protection and adding style. By considering temperature, wind, and rain, you can ensure you're prepared for any weather while looking your best.

Color and Fabric Tips

Choosing the right colors and fabrics for your sunset cruise.

When planning your outfit for a sunset cruise, selecting the right colors and fabrics is key to both comfort and style. Opt for breathable materials like soft linens, airy cottons, or luxurious silks. These fabrics not only keep you cool but also add an effortlessly chic vibe to your ensemble.

Light colors such as pastels or neutrals are ideal for the golden hour, as they reflect the sun's warm tones, enhancing your overall look.

Color Coordination Tips

For a harmonious appearance, choose colors that reflect the serenity of the sea and sky. Soft blues, gentle pinks, and muted greens are excellent choices. If you prefer a timeless look, a crisp white outfit can be stunning, providing a clean aesthetic perfect for photos against a setting sun.

Fabric Selection for Comfort and Style

When it comes to fabric, prioritize materials that allow your skin to breathe while still looking elegant. For instance, a flowing maxi dress in a lightweight fabric can be both stylish and functional. Alternatively, a tailored linen shirt paired with slim-fit trousers offers a sophisticated yet relaxed look.

Your outfit shouldn't only look good but also feel comfortable, allowing you to fully enjoy the enchanting experience of a sunset cruise.

The wind and humidity on a cruise can wreak havoc on your hairstyle. Opt for a look that's both chic and resilient. For example, try a loose braid or a casual bun to keep your hair manageable. Tip: Use a light-hold hairspray to keep your hair in place without making it stiff.

Skin Care: Hydration is Key

A glowing complexion will enhance your look against the picturesque sunset. Moisturize your skin well before the cruise to keep it hydrated. Consider using a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel , which is great for maintaining a fresh appearance.

Makeup: Less is More

Keep your makeup minimal and natural. Think waterproof mascara and a tinted lip balm. This way, you won't have to worry about touch-ups and can focus on enjoying the view. Product Recommendation: Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm for a hint of color and hydration.

Comfortable Clothing: Stylish Yet Functional

Choose an outfit that's both stylish and comfortable. A flowy dress or tailored shorts with a breezy top can be perfect. Don't forget a light jacket or shawl for when the temperature drops after sunset.

Is There a Dress Code for Evening Cruises?

Dress code for evening cruises: what to wear.

Evening cruises typically don't enforce a strict dress code, but it's a good idea to go for chic casual attire. Think of outfits that are stylish yet comfortable. For example, a nice pair of dress pants paired with a button-down shirt for men, or a smart blouse with tailored pants for women, would be great choices.

If you're celebrating a special occasion, you might want to step it up a notch with formalwear. Elegant dresses for women and sharp blazers for men are excellent options to consider. This not only makes you look good but also enhances the overall experience of the evening.

When planning your outfit, remember to consider the weather and the type of cruise. For instance, an open-deck cruise might get chilly in the evening, so bringing along a light jacket or wrap could be wise.

Pro Tip : Always check the cruise line's specific guidelines beforehand, as some might have particular recommendations or requirements for evening attire.

How Do I Protect My Belongings From Water Splashes?

How to protect your belongings from water splashes.

To keep your belongings safe from water splashes, you can use waterproof cases for your electronics and other essentials. These cases are designed to shield your items from moisture, ensuring they remain dry. Additionally, consider adding splash guards to your bags. These guards are both practical and stylish, providing extra protection without compromising on appearance.

Water damage can ruin your valuable electronics and personal items, leading to costly repairs or replacements. By using waterproof cases and splash guards, you can prevent this damage and extend the lifespan of your belongings. This is especially important in rainy weather or if you often find yourself near water.

Recommended Products

  • Waterproof Phone Cases : Brands like OtterBox and LifeProof offer durable cases that protect against water, dust, and drops.
  • Splash Guards for Bags : Look for options from companies like Timbuk2 or North Face, which offer stylish and functional guards that fit a variety of bag styles.

Simple Tips for Daily Use

  • Seal Your Cases Properly : Make sure the waterproof seals on your cases are fully closed to prevent any leaks.
  • Choose the Right Size : Ensure your case or guard fits your device or bag snugly to provide the best protection.
  • Regularly Check for Wear and Tear : Inspect your waterproof cases and splash guards regularly to ensure they are in good condition.

What to Wear on a Sunset Cruise: A Simple Guide

For your sunset cruise, it's important to choose clothes that are both stylish and comfortable. Here are some tips to help you dress appropriately for the occasion.

Footwear Matters

Choose fashionable shoes that are also slip-resistant . Since you'll be on a boat, it's crucial to avoid slipping. Look for stylish boat shoes or sandals with good grip.

Layering is Key

The weather can be unpredictable, so layering is a smart strategy. Bring a light jacket or a cardigan that you can easily take on or off. This way, you'll stay comfortable if the temperature changes.

Smart Accessories

Accessorize with statement pieces that enhance your outfit without being too heavy or cumbersome. A stylish hat or a pair of sunglasses can add flair to your look while providing practical benefits like sun protection.

Consider the Weather

Always keep the weather in mind. Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to stay cool, especially if it's warm. If it's chilly, consider a scarf or a light sweater.

Choose Sunset Hues

Wearing colors that reflect the beautiful sunset can make your experience even more magical. Think about shades like coral, gold, or soft pink to complement the scenery.

By following these tips, you'll not only feel comfortable but also look great as you enjoy the stunning views.

Tips and Tricks for a Perfect Sunset Cruise

Embarking on a sunset cruise is akin to entering a realm of magical moments, where time seems to still just for a while. However, to fully immerse yourself in this experience and to make it as enchanting as the tales suggest, consider these tried-and-true tips:

Time it Right

Golden Tip: Start by checking the local sunset time. Arrive a bit early to ensure you’re settled on the deck, cocktail in hand, as the sun starts its descent.

Dress Smartly

Golden Tip: While sunsets are warm and mesmerizing, ocean breezes can be chilly. Layer up! Bring a light jacket or wrap, especially if you’re cruising in cooler climates.

Pick the Right Spot

Golden Tip: For the best view, find a spot that’s not too crowded. The bow (front) of the boat typically offers unobstructed views. However, the stern (back) can be less windy and equally scenic.

Sun Protection

Golden Tip: Just because it’s later in the day doesn’t mean the sun can’t be strong. Wear sunscreen and bring sunglasses to protect against those powerful pre-sunset rays.

Bring a Camera… and Patience

Golden Tip: Some of the most breathtaking scenes unfold just after the sun dips below the horizon. Wait for the afterglow, and you might capture a sky ablaze with color.

Stay Hydrated and Nourished

Golden Tip: Whether it’s a glass of wine or a bottle of water, keep yourself hydrated. Opt for light snacks to keep that seasickness at bay.

Mind the Motion

Golden Tip: If you’re prone to seasickness, pick a larger vessel (they tend to rock less), stay outdoors where you can see the horizon, and consider motion sickness remedies.

Engage with Onboard Activities

Golden Tip: Many cruises offer more than just scenic views — live music, dancing, themed nights. Participate and make the experience holistic.

Respect the Environment

Golden Tip: If you bring anything onboard, make sure to take it with you when you leave. Let’s ensure our beautiful oceans and waterways stay pristine.

cruise sunset

Research the Cruise

Golden Tip: Not all sunset cruises are the same. Some are romantic, some are family-friendly, others are party-focused. Read reviews and choose one that aligns with your sunset vision.

Local Knowledge is Gold

Golden Tip: Engage with the crew. Their tales, knowledge of the area, and insights can add depth to what you see and experience.

Pack Light, but Thoughtfully

Golden Tip: Aside from your essentials, consider a pair of binoculars for distant views, a blanket for added warmth, and a portable charger to ensure your devices don’t run out of juice.

Embarking on a sunset cruise is all about the harmony of preparation and spontaneity. With the right forethought, you can surrender to the moment, allowing the world’s natural wonders to sweep you off your feet. Here’s to sunsets that paint the sky and cruises that etch memories into our souls!

Most medium to large vessels will have restroom facilities. However, smaller boats or private charters might not. It’s wise to check with the operator and use facilities onshore if needed.

Can I charter a private sunset cruise for special occasions?

Absolutely! Many operators offer private charters for birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, or any special event. These often come with customizable options to tailor the experience.

Will there be a guide or narration during the cruise?

Many sunset cruises, especially in touristy areas, offer guided experiences where a narrator or guide shares interesting tidbits about the surroundings. If this is something you’re keen on, inquire with the operator.

Can I swim during the cruise?

Some sunset cruises, especially those in tropical or warm locations, might have a swimming or snorkeling stop. However, safety is paramount, so always adhere to the boat captain’s instructions.

Is there a best side of the boat to sit on for views?

Both sides can offer spectacular views, but the bow (front) usually provides a more unobstructed panorama. It’s more about securing a spot that isn’t too crowded.

Are tips included in the ticket price?

While some cruises might include gratuities in the ticket price, it’s common practice to tip crew members, especially if you’ve received exceptional service.

Is Wi-Fi available on the cruise?

Larger, luxury cruises might offer Wi-Fi, but many sunset cruises focus on the natural experience and may not provide internet access. It’s a great opportunity to unplug and immerse in the moment!

Can I smoke on the cruise?

Policies vary by operator. Some boats may have designated smoking areas, while others might prohibit smoking entirely. Always check and respect onboard rules.

Do sunset cruises operate year-round?

In most destinations, yes, but frequency might reduce during off-peak or inclement weather seasons. Always check the operator’s schedule.

What if I have a specific dietary requirement for the onboard meal?

If meals are provided, many operators are accommodating to dietary needs when informed in advance. Always communicate any requirements at the time of booking.

Are there group discounts available?

Many sunset cruise operators offer group discounts or package deals. If traveling with a group or hosting an event, it’s worth inquiring about reduced rates.

Essential Clothing Items

When it comes to packing for a cruise, there are certain essential items that should be noticed. Cruise outfits should include intelligent, casual attire such as shorts and sundresses for casual days in port or at sea.

Cocktail dresses or elegant skirts with blouses and heels will come in handy for evening dinners. A timeless classic like the little black dress is always appropriate aboard a ship – perfect for formal nights at dinner or drinks in the lounge.

If you plan on shore excursions during your trip, pack sandals and athletic shoes to make walking around easier. Additionally, remember a couple of nice workout clothes if you want to take advantage of the fitness centers and workout classes onboard most ships.

Dress Codes At Different Cruise Lines

Surprisingly, cruise line dress codes can vary greatly! Most cruises have at least one formal night (and possibly even two on cruises of seven days or longer), while some do not even have one.

On sea days, many passengers opt for casual clothing such as shorts and t-shirts or casual dresses.

On most cruise lines, for example, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line, “cruise casual” is the standard dress code for daytime and evening onboard activities. This means comfortable clothing appropriate for relaxed settings, such as shorts, sundresses, or slacks and a collared shirt.

However, it’s important to note that swimwear and gym clothes are only generally considered cruise casual in designated areas. Alternatively, the Norwegian Cruise Line dress code is highly relaxed and allows guests to wear whatever they want – even swimwear!

No matter what type of clothing you choose to bring on your trip, it is important to ensure it is appropriate for the climate and environment. Lightweight fabrics are often best suited for warm climates, whereas more substantial items may be necessary for cold weather.

Also, remember that certain activities may require different types of attire. Always check with the ship’s staff before embarking so you know exactly what to expect from their specific dress code guidelines.

Formal Night Attire

Now that you know the essential clothing items for a cruise, it’s time to consider what to wear on a formal night. Many cruises have a strict dress code requiring guests to adhere to formal wear.

Depending on the Cruise line, female guests should be prepared with evening or ball gowns; men typically wear a dark suit with a collared shirt or tuxedo and dress shoes.

The formal dress code is usually based on the type of ship and its corresponding decorum. Different ships have different dress codes, and some are stricter than others.

The formal night may also require attendees to make reservations at an onboard restaurant, necessitating dressing up in evening wear. It is essential to check with your specific cruise line in advance so you can plan accordingly and be dressed appropriately for all occasions aboard the ship.

sunset boat cruise attire

Sunset Chasers are not the type of ladies that typically partake in the formal night. On a recent cruise on MSC, we did wear a cute cocktail dress that was within the dress code for the cruise line.

If Formal night is not your thing, but you still want to dine in the main dining hall, I suggest wearing a maxi dress or party dress that makes you feel comfortable! Even though I love bright colors, you can never go wrong with a black dress on a formal night or for formal dinners at specialty restaurants.

Sea Day Outfits

Optimize sea days by packing casual outfits that can take you from morning to night. Don’t forget to bring a few tank tops and bathing suits – these are practically mandatory!

Tank tops can be dressed up or down, depending on where you’re headed. They look great with anything from shorts and sneakers for a casual afternoon stroll around the deck to a maxi skirt and sandals for dinner.

Remember accessories, too! Consider bringing oversized sunglasses and hats as they are necessary for fashion and protection against the sun in hot weather.

On top of that, having some comfortable shoes will ensure you have no problem exploring different areas of the cruise ship throughout the day. So, break out those fashionable flats or Birkenstocks!

How To Dress Comfortably On The Pool Deck?

When heading to the pool deck, it’s essential to dress comfortably. Flip flops are ideal for footwear as they are lightweight and easy to take on and off around the pool area.

Sandals with straps can also be a good option because they give more stability than flip-flops. Additionally, if you plan on participating in any activities near the pool, then closed-toe shoes may be necessary.

As far as clothing is concerned, casual wear is best suited for the pool deck. Swimsuits or shorts paired with T-shirts are a great combination that won’t restrict your movement while swimming or participating in water sports.

Avoid wearing jeans and other heavy fabrics since these can become uncomfortable when wet and take longer to dry off afterward.

Theme Nights

Theme nights on board a cruise ship are becoming increasingly popular and a great way to add excitement to your voyage. Whether it’s a Hawaiian Luau or a Black and White Ball, there’s always something for everyone to enjoy.

Most theme nights require a specific dress code, so planning and packing is essential. On Hawaiian Luau night, you may want to dress in brightly colored tropical attire, while guests typically wear elegant formal wear on a Black and White Ball night.

What to wear on Shore Excursions

When going on a cruise, know that you need to make sure you have clothes to go on onshore excursions or at least to walk around the port. There are so many Shore Excursions and activities you can do while off the cruise, so let us dig into what to wear.

sunset boat cruise attire

Tours and Sightseeing

A large number of Shore excursions offer up tours and Sightseeing. Whether you are wandering around the streets of Europe, bouncing around Key West, or Exploring the Glaciers of Alaska, you want to ensure that you have the right clothes while Sightseeing. One of the best things to pack is comfortable shoes, nice jeans or dresses, and casual clothes that make sense for your port of call.

Beach and Water Activities and Private Island Outfits

If your cruise has a private island, you must bring the proper outfit to the island! Getting off the cruise ship in your bathing suit and cover-up is perfectly acceptable.

Make sure you bring a change of clothes in your beach bag so you can change without worrying about being in a wet bathing suit.

While on the private island, you will want to bring a straw hat, sunglasses, and sandals to wear around the island.

Cruise Vacation Outfit Ideas For Cold Climates

You must arm yourself with the right clothing items to protect against any and all temperatures you may encounter on your voyage. In the main dining room, it’s best to dress up more than usual. A button-down shirt paired with long trousers or dark jeans will keep you warm while still looking put together.

sunset boat cruise attire

For women, an elegant blouse can be paired with slacks or a long skirt if desired. Adding a light jacket will help complete the look and provide extra warmth during those cooler evenings at sea.

Layering is essential when heading out onto the deck, as temperatures are often unpredictable when near open water. Consider pairing a light sweater over your shirt, wind-resistant pants, and shoes that won’t easily slip on wet surfaces.

Additionally, a warm jacket, gloves, and a hat can be handy, depending on how chilly it gets outside. This is particularly important if you’re going on an Alaskan cruise! With these few pieces in mind, you’ll be ready for whatever the weather brings while enjoying your cruise vacation in colder climates.

Dressing For A Caribbean Cruise

Cruise casual is the guideline you should aim for on most cruises. That means no jeans or shorts during dinner time. A great way to create your own cruise packing list is to start with a few different outfits containing basics such as khakis, dress pants, button-down shirts, summer dresses, skirts, and blouses. If desired, you can also add some nice accessories like scarves and jewelry.

For those who want to make an extra effort when dressing up for formal nights onboard the ship, several options are available. Men might opt for suits or tuxedos while women could choose from evening gowns, cocktail dresses, or even jumpsuits.

For semi-formal events such as daytime activities around the ship or excursions ashore, try smart casual with light-colored linen trousers paired with colorful tops and sandals.

Tips for Packing for your Cruise

It’s a good idea to plan for your cruise and make sure you have all the necessary items packed. Cruise wear should be comfortable, stylish, and appropriate for any occasion or activity onboard. Pack versatile pieces that can easily transition from day to night activities.

A few essential packing tips are:

  • Stick with versatile items like polo shirts, sundresses, and shorts so you can get more use out of them during your trip.
  • Consider bringing some comfortable shoes for strolling around on deck and some water shoes if you plan to participate in any watersport activities.
  • Bring enough swimsuits so that one is always drying. The general rule of thumb is 2-3.
  • Mix-and-match things like tops and bottoms, jackets and skirts.
  • Layer clothing as temperatures may vary in different ports of call.
  • Include some formal eveningwear if there are special events planned aboard the ship.
  • Pack a few pieces of jewelry and accessories – they will help create different looks without adding too much bulk.
  • Remember a hat and sunscreen!

Bring enough clothing to last for at least one week, but don’t overpack either – remember that there are laundry facilities onboard many ships these days. If you plan to do laundry, you can always bring your laundry pods and dryer sheets.

Lastly, it’s always wise to watch the weather forecast before setting sail. That way, you know what clothes will work best for each part of your journey.

sunset boat cruise attire

What Not To Wear On A Cruise?

It’s important to remember your surroundings while dressing appropriately for this type of trip. If there are certain areas within the ship where swimwear is prohibited, avoid wearing revealing clothes, even if they may be fashionable.

Choose garments that reflect who you are but still maintain respectability during your stay onboard the cruise liner – after all, you don’t want to stand out for the wrong reasons!

What to wear on a cruise

As you prepare for your cruise, remember that comfort is the most important part of choosing what to wear. Each type of cruise will require different attire, so ensure you have enough clothing items and accessories for each day at sea.

Always check your cruise line’s dress code and find out what events and special occasions are taking place that might require a particular outfit. Remember to pack something special for a formal night as it’s a great way to show off your style!

No matter where your cruise takes you, having fun should be your top priority. So put together looks that make YOU feel comfortable and stylish! Because, after all, relaxing and enjoying yourself is key to any successful voyage!

What to Wear on a Sunset Cruise

  • 2024-03-07 2024-03-07

Introduction

Going on a sunset cruise is a fantastic way to enjoy breathtaking views while sailing across the open waters. Whether you’re embarking on a romantic date or celebrating a special occasion, choosing the right attire is key to enjoying the experience to the fullest. In this article, we’ll guide you through the dos and don’ts of what to wear on a sunset cruise, ensuring you are both comfortable and stylish. Let’s dive in!

Consider the Weather Conditions

The first and most crucial factor to consider when choosing your outfit for a sunset cruise is the weather conditions. Keep in mind that temperatures can drop as the sun sets, especially if you’re on the water. Here are a few tips:

  • Dress in layers: Opt for a light sweater, jacket, or cardigan that you can easily remove if it gets warmer.
  • Bring a scarf or shawl: These versatile accessories can be useful if the weather becomes cooler.
  • Check the forecast: Pay attention to weather forecasts to get an idea of the expected temperature and any chance of rain. This can help you plan your outfit accordingly.

Choose Comfortable Footwear

On a sunset cruise, you’ll be walking around the boat and potentially climbing stairs. Comfortable footwear is essential to ensure you can move around freely without any discomfort. Consider the following suggestions:

  • Flats or low-heeled shoes: Opt for closed-toe flats, sandals, or boat shoes that provide good support and won’t slip on the deck.
  • Consider the terrain: If there’s a chance you’ll be stepping onto a beach or a rocky surface, choose shoes suitable for the terrain.
  • Avoid high heels: Stilettos or high-heeled shoes might look glamorous but are not practical for a sunset cruise, as they can be unstable on a moving boat.

Dress Comfortably and Stylishly

While comfort is important, you can still look stylish and put together during your sunset cruise. Here are some clothing suggestions:

  • Lightweight fabrics: Opt for breathable materials such as cotton or linen to keep cool in warmer weather.
  • Sundresses or skirts: Flowy sundresses and skirts are perfect for a romantic sunset cruise.
  • Dressy casual attire: If you prefer pants, choose dressy trousers or capris paired with a nice blouse or a button-down shirt for a smart yet casual look.
  • Nautical-inspired outfits: Embrace the maritime vibe with navy blue and white combinations or striped patterns.

Remember to avoid clothing that might become uncomfortable or restrictive, such as tight-fitting outfits or heavy fabrics that don’t allow for easy movement.

Accessories and Extras

Enhance your sunset cruise outfit with carefully selected accessories. Here are some ideas:

  • Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from the sun’s glare with a trendy pair of sunglasses.
  • Hats or caps: Shield yourself from direct sunlight with a wide-brimmed hat or a stylish cap.
  • Minimalist jewelry: Opt for understated jewelry to complement your outfit without weighing you down.
  • Crossbody bag or small backpack: Choose a small bag that allows you to keep your essentials close without interfering with your movement.

Safety Considerations

Lastly, it’s important to prioritize safety while on a sunset cruise. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Check for dress code restrictions: Some sunset cruises may have specific dress code requirements, such as no swimwear or formal attire. It’s always best to double-check with the cruise operator beforehand.
  • Be cautious with loose items: Avoid wearing loose jewelry or accessories that could accidentally fall overboard.
  • Wear appropriate footwear: We mentioned this before, but it’s worth reiterating the importance of wearing stable shoes to prevent slipping or tripping.
  • Protect yourself from the sun: Apply sunscreen before boarding the cruise and bring it along for reapplication, especially for longer trips.

Choosing the right outfit for a sunset cruise can make your experience much more enjoyable. Dressing comfortably, considering the weather, and selecting appropriate footwear are key to having a great time. Remember to prioritize safety and add some stylish accessories to complete your look. Now you’re ready to embark on a memorable sunset adventure with confidence and style!

What are the top rated New York City Sunset Cruises?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.24.1″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”||25px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]

There are many types of sunset cruises offered, so you’ll want to choose carefully as you select which is best for your group and your budget!

The plethora of choices include sunset cruises with snacks and drinks for purchase, cruises with one complimentary beverage, dinner cruises with a buffet dinner and a DJ for dancing, smaller boats with fewer passengers, and private boats for your exclusive group.

Some cruises allow you to bring your own food and drinks, or even a catered meal. You can find champagne cruises, jazz cruises, holiday cruises, and more.

To help you pair it down, I’m recommending the following four choices.

These cruises range from one to two hours. I’ve listed the top rated cruises in order of budget friendly to more expensive. Each of these has a five star rating.

A sunset cruise is a great addition to a 3 day itinerary in NYC.

Where do the New York City Sunset Cruises take you?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.24.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]

Sunset cruises launch from the famous Chelsea Pier near Little Island by the Hudson River Park, at the South Street Seaport, the Freedom Tower, or from Battery Park in Lower Manhattan.

The cruises sail into the Hudson River, which is along New York City’s west side and separates Manhattan from New Jersey. The cruises also sail into the East River, which is the estuary that flows between Manhattan and Brooklyn. The Hudson and East Rivers meet at the bottom tip of Manhattan.

As you leave the pier and cruise into the river, you’ll catch the mesmerizing backdrop of the Lower Manhattan skyline, including One World Trade Center.

The tours sail past Ellis Island, and then approach the iconic Statue Of Liberty just as the sun sets. As the cruise continues, you’ll see the Brooklyn Bridge up close and will be dazzled by the city lights as you cruise back into the harbor.

The silhouette of the buildings against the setting sun is truly breathtaking. It gets me every time!

When is the best time to go on a NYC sunset cruise?

I can honestly say that anytime of year is good for a sunset cruise. I’ve been on NYC sunset cruises in Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Obviously, it’s colder out on the deck in the winter, but the sky is clear and the air is crisp and that makes the experience invigorating and exciting.

The Spring and Summer cruises were also lovely and required fewer layers for being outside.

All the cruises offer some indoor seating for you to warm up and watch the skyline through the windows.

As the sun sets at different times of the year, you’ll need to check with your cruise company for departure times.

What to wear on a NYC sunset cruise?

Some people like to dress up for a cruise, but it’s not at all necessary.

You’ll want comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes.

Bring layers no matter what the season, because you may start off feeling a warm breeze but will be surprised at the temperature drop as the sun goes down on the water.

Some Pre-New York City Sunset Cruise Activities

I recommend spending your pre-cruise time in Lower Manhattan because all the boats depart from this part of the city and it will be easier for you to get to the dock on time.

Here my short list of the best things to do in Lower Manhattan. Learn more here.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.21.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.21.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.24.1″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]

~ One World Trade Center/Oculus/911 Memorial – One of the most significant spots in Lower Manhattan is the area where the twin towers once stood. The magnificent new World Trade Center or Freedom Tower, the train station and shopping mall known as the Oculus, and the stunning 911 Memorial site are a must in your visit to New York. The plaza with its cascading waterfalls and the stunning architecture surrounding it are both beautiful and powerful.

~ Little Island at Pier 55 is a playful surprise along the Hudson Park near the Chelsea Piers. It’s a delightful, man-made artificial island that was built to bring green space to lower Manhattan after the piers were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

~ The Whitney Art Museum is a personal favorite and is across the street from the piers and Little Island. The Whitney is dedicated to American Art and always offers fabulous exhibits along with its great permanent collection.

~ The High Line is the 1.45 mile walk from Gansevoort St. to 34th St. above the sidewalks, along what used to be the railway distributing meat from the meatpacking district.  It’s now a public park filled with plants and art elevated above the streets on Lower Manhattan’s West Side. I love walking the High Line in all kinds of weather because of the ever changing flora and fauna and the unique perspective of the streets below.

~ The NY Stock Exchange & The Charging Bull & The Fearless Girl are all part of the famous financial district (FiDi) or Lower Manhattan. There is so much history to learn about in this part of New York, you could spend a whole day. Look for the Fearless Girl in front of the Stock Exchange and then walk a few blocks to find the Bull for another iconic photo shoot.

~ China Town is a vibrant Chinese community filled with shops, markets, and restaurants. Get to Mott Street between Bleecker and Chatham Square or Canal Street.

~ Little Italy is adjacent to China Town and is very lively Italian neighborhood with the best bakeries and great food. Get to Mulberry Street and start eating!

~ Washington Sq Park is the famous park near the New York University in the heart of New York’s Lower West Side. Known for its wild and free spirit, this park is a unique experience of its own!

~ Tribeca is the hip neighborhood known for its celebrities and charming streets. Go for a walk, enjoy the shopping, and hang out at a cafe.
