Club Professional – Tom Davies

It gives us great pleasure in announcing that our new Club Professional is Mr Tom Davies.

Tom completed the PGA Foundation Degree in 2007 at Machynys Peninsula G&CC. He then went on to compete full time on various tours around the world including the Asia Tour. Tom was then made the Head PGA Professional at his home club of Maesteg Golf Club where he built a very successful business in the 4 years he was there.

He was then headhunted by Trackman, to become their UK Sales Representative. Tom`s knowledge on coaching and custom fitting was quickly noticed by some of the worlds leading coaches and players, he remained at Trackman traveling all over the world for 3 years, when he was offered a position at TaylorMade as a European Tour Representative. Tom worked with the worlds best players and became a particular favourite of Jason Day, Justin Rose, John Daly, Bradley Dredge and Paul McGinley to work with.

After 4 years on Tour, Tom started his own business which is Tour Fit Golf, he ran this in conjunction with his previous role at Ashburnham Golf Club. Tom is a key note speaker and has delivered seminars and lectures all around the world on his knowledge on Tour and of club building, club fitting and coaching.

More recently, Tom was selected to be one of the club fitters for several LIV tour events, where recently he was working with Bryson DeChanbeau, Cameron Smith and Phil Mickelson. He is also currently coaching the 28 time Ladies European Tour winner and 8 time Solheim Cup Team member Trish Johnson.

MEET MY TEAM

JOHN PETERS

John is a Fellow Member of the PGA after completing his PGA training in 1995 as assistant at Southerndown Golf Club. Having played at the highest level in the amateur game, John spent a brief time playing on the European challenge tour before completing his PGA training. Once qualified John moved onto St Mary’s golf club where he established himself as Director of Golf and developed a strong reputation in coaching. This resulted in an appointment as Regional coach under the then National coach David Llewellyn. Having been head hunted by the new development in Llanelli, Machynys Peninsula Golf & Country Club, for the position of Head Teaching Professional, he further cemented his coaching credentials by being appointed as Director of Coaching to the GUW Centre of Excellence Golf Academy at the Machynys resort. John is coaching and mentoring many of Wales elite amateur players along with many local professionals. The most notable of these would be one of his star pupils, Lydia Hall, who having earned her tour card on the Ladies European tour in 2007, is about to start on her 13th consecutive year on the LET.

Featured tee time for Round 2

All eyes are on Rory McIlroy at the Wells Fargo Championship, as he preps for a run at his third PGA Championship title next week. Can the World No. 2 provide a serious challenge to the far-and-away World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at Valhalla?

With Scheffler sitting out, McIlroy has a golden opportunity to gain some winning momentum this week at Quail Hollow. A win would go a long way to helping him build enough confidence to end his lengthy major-winning drought.

McIlroy had an afternoon tee time alongside Tom Kim and Max Homa on Thursday, so for Friday’s second round our featured trio will switch to a morning starting time of 11:33 a.m. ET.

You can watch the second round of the Wells Fargo Championship on ESPN+ with exclusive early action and featured group coverage all day, and on Golf Channel starting at 2 p.m. ET. Peacock will offer a simulcast of Golf Channel’s coverage.
