When it comes to cycling sportives, The Tour of Flanders is the grand classic. Traversing many of the same famous narrow roads and bergs as the WorldTour race, the Belgian sportive has been going on for decades with participation capped at 16,000. Which distance should I ride in the Tour of Flanders sportive?
The Tour of Flanders offers four different routes for sportive riders on the day before the main race. 16,000 amateur riders get to test their cobble riding skills on the Saturday and then you can stay and watch the pros on the Sunday. The four distances are 229km, 174km, 139km, and 74km.

The main feature of the Tour of Flanders Sportive is the sheer volume of climbs / cobbled sections so to pick out three to focus on is a bit misleading. The majority of climbs are challenging with plenty of double digit gradients. Three of the best and most famous climbs are: 1. The Koppenberg - the steepest part of the route at 22%.
Riding the Tour of Flanders sportive: tips for first-time Flandriens
In terms of prepping your bike for Flanders, there are plenty of opinions on ways to mitigate the effects of the dreaded cobbles. Advice essentially boils down to running wider tyres (e.g. 25mm) and double-wrapping your handlebars. Make sure to tighten any nuts and bolts beforehand, especially on bottle cages.
Recommendations on riding the Tour of Flanders Sportive?
I'm looking for suggestions on riding the 2024 Tour of Flanders Sportive. Is it best to use a packaged tour company or can accommodations, bike rental, and ground transportation be easily arranged. I'm planning on arriving in Brussels on 3/27.
