Great show!. The Bee Gees are the greatest group in the work and have the best songs in the world. Barry Gibb is a great performer, singer, songwriter even by himself without his brothers.

It is unfortunate that he cancelled his US and work tour this year to support his new solo album. It would be a tragedy if he never has anymore concert tours, especially in the US. Last night seeing him sing 3 songs might be the last and only time will see him perform.

Barry Gibb U.S. Mythology Tour dates announced

by BGD · 2014/01/28

Barry Gibb is bringing his Mythology Tour to the U.S.  The following dates have been confirmed for now.  Starting in Boston (Massachusetts!)  on May 15, the tour will cover six cities from the East to the West, to reach Hollywood Bowl on June 4.

May 15   –  Boston, MA (TD Garden) May 19   –  Philadelphia (PA Wells Fargo Center) May 24  –   Wantagh, NY (Jones Beach Theater) May 27  –   Chicago (IL United Center) May 31  –   Concord, CA (Concord Pavilion) June 4 –     Los Angeles, CA (Hollywood Bowl)

The ticket sale for the general public will start on Friday January 31.  However, Ticket Master and Live Nation already list some presale information such as Tuesday 28th for Boston, New York, Chicago and Concord and Thursday 30th.  So do keep a lookout.

Concurrently with the announcement of the tour, Barry Gibb’s Mythology Tour Facebook page states that Barry is also taping several more TV shows this week including Piers Morgan and Extra.   Among the lot, Robin was hoping to appear on Piers Morgain in connection with his "Titanic Requiem."  The original plan was for him to fly to the U.S. A. soon after the London performance of the same on April 10, 2012; however, at that time he was already in coma.  We hope to feel Maurice and Robin beside Barry when he promotes and does the Mythology shows.

Concert Review: Barry Gibb on Tour — The Bee Gees Redux

Though Barry Gibb performed most of his life with the Bee Gees, he was surprisingly un-slick as a showman.

By Brett Milano

Barry Gibb ’s first-ever solo tour is dubbed “Mythology,” but there were times when “Therapy” would have been more like it. The show, which made its US debut in Boston this week, is very much a memorial for his two Bee Gee brothers Maurice and Robin (who respectively died in 2003 and 2012), and to lesser extent for youngest brother Andy Gibb, who died in 1988. With the balcony closed off it felt unusually intimate for a Garden show — and with an audience full of Bee Gees diehards, there was a lot of bonding going on.

Though he performed most of his life with the Bee Gees, Gibb was surprisingly un-slick as a showman. Modestly dressed in black jeans and pullover shirt, he began every announcement with a nervous “Okay”; and there were many times when he looked to his left and right, still seeming to process the fact that his partners weren’t there. During a long ovation in an early-show acoustic set, the video cams caught him brushing away tears. And there were a number of heart-tugging tributes to his brothers, including a video appearance by Robin on “I Started a Joke.” The one that grabbed me was “With the Sun in My Eyes” from the 1966 album Horizontal and originally sung by Robin. It’s a ballad full of premature world-weariness. Barry’s voice cracked a few times while singing it Monday, only making it more poignant.

At this point, the Bee Gees’ catalogue needs no defending. Even if you didn’t love the disco-era hits, there was the quirky brilliance of the British Invasion-era tracks; and the polished grown-up pop of their last half-dozen albums. Monday’s two-and-a-half hour show draw on everything and threw in a couple of surprises, like Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” (played in response to the Boss lately covering “Stayin’ Alive” in concert) and “Chain Reaction.” Written for Diana Ross in the ‘80s and modelled after the vintage Supremes sound, the latter was sung by Maurice’s daughter Sammy — whose spiky-haired, tattooed look brought some youthful energy to the stage, and whose voice made the missing family harmonies a bit less glaring. Gibb’s rejiggered his set from the European dates, which meant fewer deep cuts from the ‘60s (though the Bee Gees’ early, pre-hit single “Spicks & Specks” was there for collectors) and more from the disco days.

And really, the disco-era songs were the night’s payoff, partly because Gibb’s voice was strongest there (Though his voice showed age in the deeper register, his falsetto remains intact), but mainly for the giddy good nature in those songs. It takes a stronger will than mine to avoid singing along with “Jive Talkin’” or to sit completely still during “You Should Be Dancing.” During a medley of songs he’d written for female artists (“Islands in the Stream” for Dolly Parton and “Guilty” for Barbara Streisand, both duets on Monday with backup singer Beth Cohen) Gibb found his old swagger, breaking out a few of his ‘70s dance moves. It was then you realized that the vulnerable guy onstage was once the most powerful man in pop music.

Brett Milano has been covering music in Boston for decades, and is the author of Vinyl Junkies: Adventures in Record Collecting (St. Martins, 2001) and The Sound of Our Town: A History of Boston Rock & Roll (Commonwealth Editions, 2007). He recently returned from New Orleans where he was editor of the music and culture magazine OffBeat .

THE last remaining Bee Gee, Barry Gibb, will make an emotional homecoming to Australia next year to seek closure after the death of his brother Robin.

Gibb said he and Robin had begun planning shows before he became seriously ill with cancer earlier this year and he would honour him by opening his Mythology world tour here in February. In between the shows, Gibb plans to visit the family's former home in Redcliffe and seek out old stomping grounds where the Bee Gees performed in the mid 1960s. "It will be a sentimental journey,'' Gibb said from his Miami home. "Coming home to Australia will be a wake-up call for me. I love the place so much and I think I will always feel like the 12-year-old kid who loved the beach and the girls during summer holidays.

"I want to go and see the places we grew up even if the buildings aren't there anymore. "I'm coming home to find some kind of closure after losing my three brothers, to reflect and go over all those memories.'' As the eldest brother, Gibb said he had been saddened that the extended Bee Gees family has been splintered by the deaths of his brothers Andy, Maurice and most recently Robin in May. At the funeral, he spoke passionately about the need to resolve conflict between relatives but has now accepted that the families will remain "a bit estranged''. "The whole family has been splintered and torn apart by these tragedies,'' he said. "What do you do? You can't make people come together and I don't think the families will ever be unified. "After all, each family has their own favourite member of the band.''

The Bee Gees may yet survive in some form, with Gibb's eldest son Stephen and Maurice's daughter Samantha joining him on the Mythology tour and contributing to an upcoming compilation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the group. Gibb said having them by his side while performing some of the Bee Gees' more emotional anthems keeps him focused.

"The only times when it can really hit me that my brothers aren't up there with me is on How Deep Is Your Love or Last Dance, those kind of songs and the emotions go into the music,'' he said quietly, "Then it's hard to avoid what you are feeling.'' Barry Gibb will open the Mythology tour at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on February 8, heading to Rod Laver Arena on February 12 and finishing in his hometown at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 16. Tickets on sale from October 5.

Barry Gibb and his son Stephen have only given a handful of joint performances in their careers and alongside the performance of 'Stayin' Alive', the 2014 Mythology Tour also saw the pair sing a spine-tinglingly good duet of ' Grease '.

Barry Gibb and his son guitarist Stephen (pictured) also sang a spine-tingling duet of 'Grease' on the 2014 tour.

In the years following the tour, Barry and his son reunited most during lockdown where they recorded a live jamming session back in March 2020 and streamed the medley for lucky Bee Gees fans.

The musical pair gave a stripped-back acoustic performance of three of the band's most famous songs: ' Stayin' Alive ', ' Words ' and ' How Can You Mend A Broken Heart '.

In 2020, Stephen Gibb opened up about his battle with drug-addiction and how he managed to turn his life around.

The 46-year-old revealed how his drug addiction led him into a spiral of homelessness and scavenging for food.

He went on to describe his spiral from having regular work to losing everything.

Once he turned his life around and got sober, Stephen went back to performing, writing music and playing the guitar with his dad, however, the threat of addiction has sadly been rife in the Gibb family.

Robin Gibb passed away in May 2012 after battling cancer for a number of years, while his twin brother Maurice – who had been sober for 20 years – died in 2003 due to complications of a twisted intestine.

The Bee Gee's youngest brother, Andy Gibb , died in 1988 aged just 30 due to heart problems caused by cocaine addiction.

Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive Music Video

'Stayin' Alive' was a huge hit for the Bee Gees in 1977 after it was written and released as part of the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever .

Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb wrote the song over a few days while working on a staircase at the Château d'Hérouville studio near Paris.

The Bee Gees preferred to record the majority of the soundtrack in France for tax reasons, like many artists at the time, and wrote four tracks for the film’s incredible disco sound, including ‘Stayin’ Alive’, ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, ‘Night Fever’ and ‘More Than A Woman’.
