Carr is set to delve into his life during that time, having married at a star-studded ceremony, had some issues at border control, spent some time as a farmer, and as an accidental anarchist.

Described by the Evening Standard as “sheer entertainment” and by The Sunday Telegraph as “bellyachingly funny”, Carr will launch his latest tour in Dunfermline on 5 September 2020, running through to York on Saturday 19 December 2020.

How to get Alan Carr tickets early

Alan Carr tickets for select dates will be available through our presale from 10:00 on Tuesday 28 January 2020.

A multi-award winner, Carr most recently sat on the panel on the inaugural UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race .

His live career has seen him tour across areans in 2007, 2011 and 2015, most recently performing his Yap, Yap, Yap! show to fans across the country.

Stars celebrate opening of Swansea Arena as it hosts first live music show

  • Michael Sheen
  • Entertainment
  • Friday 18 March 2022 at 8:38am

Swansea Arena will host its first live music show at the weekend featuring rock duo Royal Blood.

The band will take to the stage of the brand new 3,500-seater venue on Saturday, March 19.

Up to 200 live performances a year will take place in the gold-clad stadium, attracting millions more visitors to the city over the next decade.

To celebrate its opening, world-renowned actors and musicians such as Michael Sheen and Cerys Matthews have taken part in a visual art project called 'From Swansea, With Love'.

Concert-goers will be welcomed by the words of the Good Omens star, former Catatonia lead singer and others such as Nine Perfect Strangers actor Luke Evans, BBC radio presenter Huw Stephens, Kingsman actor Keith Allen and singer-songwriter Rachel K Collier.

Phrases contributed by the stars will appear as illustrations and animations on posters and digital screens across the city, with the sayings of Sheen and Matthews being turned into hand-painted murals.

Sheen’s reading says: “As the sun rises from the sea, so shall Abertawe sing.”

Joe Bayliss, from Swansea Arena, said: “The arena is a vital piece of the puzzle that has been missing from the South Wales cultural scene until now, and I have no doubt it will help Swansea reach its potential as a cultural destination.

“It’s an exciting time for the city and region, and the arena is just the first part of it. In terms of the arts, we also have the redevelopment of the Albert Hall and Princess Theatre.”

He added: “The proof will be in the pudding though, and I think we already have it with the amazing line-up for 2022.

“We’re already pencilling in more big shows and me and the team are so thrilled, we can’t wait to share the news with everyone.”

The arena, operated by Ambassador Theatre Group, is at the centre of the city’s new Copr Bay district, one of the largest urban regeneration projects under way in Europe with more than £1 billion investment.

It includes a landmark public bridge, an acre-wide coastal park, plus a new hotel, apartments and independent restaurants.

Around 467 full-time direct and indirect jobs in Swansea are expected to be generated from the arena alone.

Upcoming gigs include comedians Alan Carr, Katherine Ryan, Kevin Bridges, Rhod Gilbert, Rob Beckett and Rob Brydon.

Performances from Jersey Boys, Jurassic Live, Alice Cooper and The Cult, Diversity, Johannes Radebe, Oti Mabuse, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Will Young are also planned.

TV star Alan Carr spotted in Swansea restaurant

The Chatty Man host happily posed for pictures with fans in between filming on the beach

Television star and comedian Alan Carr has been spotted in Swansea today, sampling food at one of the city's favourite hotspots. The Chatty Man host popped into The Secret Bar & Kitchen on Wednesday morning.

He enjoyed a vegetarian breakfast before filming scenes for an unknown TV project along Swansea Beach, which is on the restaurant's doorstep. The 47-year-old happily posed for pictures with fans, including team leader at The Secret, Tammy McDaid. He was pictured clutching a big inflatable rubber ring, which probably went unused given the rainy weather we've been experiencing in the city.

Alan is becoming something of a regular in Wales. He brought his stand-up show 'Regional Trinket' to Swansea Arena back in October last year, and also shared pictures of his trips to popular tourist spots across North Wales back in 2021. You can read more about that by clicking here . Get Swansea stories straight to your inbox with our newsletter .

Lucy Hole, who owns The Secret together with her brother Ryan, said: "He came in and had something to eat with us, luckily when he came in it wasn't raining! He had a vegetarian breakfast which he said was delicious. He was really lovely and open and was happy to have pictures taken - he was really funny and tongue in cheek about it, saying things like 'What the hell do you want now' as people asked.

"He was filming on the beach and had breakfast here and said he might pop back later to have some more food with us. It's great to welcome famous faces here, it just puts us on the map. The Secret is in such a lovely location and it's great we can do things like this."

Adele has long used her platform and concerts to voice her support for the LGBTQ+ community, wearing a dress with a rainbow train at a concert during Pride Month last year and honoring victims of homophobic violence during her shows.

“I’d like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando and Pulse nightclub,” she said through tears as she took the stage in Belgium in 2016 just hours after initial details about the mass shooting were revealed. “The LGBTQIA community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m really moved by it.”

‘The LGBTQA community, they’re like my soul mates’: Adele pays tribute to Orlando shooting victims

Adele dedicated her concert Sunday night in Belgium to victims of the shooting at a gay club in Orlando that left 49 people dead and 53 injured.

She appreciates that her music has apparently some inspired fans to live authentically, telling Out in 2015, “I get a lot of mail from people who tell me that I make them really happy to be themselves, and really comfortable with who they are, which I love.”

The “Rumor Has It” singer explained in the same interview that she once received a letter from a teenage fan who used her music to come out to his friends. “He fancied someone at school, but he wasn’t out. And he listened to ‘Someone Like You’ and came out to his best friend and then to the boy he fancied, and it turned out that he was gay as well, and now they’re together — he’s like 15. I had to leave so I didn’t burst into tears.”

In 2018, Adele became an ordained minister so she could officiate at the wedding of bestie Alan Carr — the comic and broadcaster whom she stayed with after the 2011 release of “21” — and Paul Drayton, who at the time had been together for eight years. The “Set Fire to the Rain” singer paid for the event and hosted it in her own backyard, though the men wound up divorcing in 2022.

Review: There are many heirs to her throne, but Adele is still queen of the ugly-cry ballad

More than just gossip about the toll of her divorce, the singer’s fourth album, ‘30,’ offers deep thoughts on love’s causes and consequences.

Adele received significant online support for her quick response to the heckler Saturday. “Want to know how to challenge bullies and hate this Pride Month? Take a page from the icon that is @Adele,” the Human Rights Campaign tweeted. “Your voice is powerful in song and in spreading allyship and joy.”

“It’s pretty funny that the idiot heckler paid big money to do this,” one fan posted , noting the irony of a person shelling out for expensive tickets and subsequently making an enemy of the performer. “Adele wins again.”

Adele will play four more shows this month in Las Vegas before heading to Munich in August.
