How long is the tour?

The total duration is around 2-3 hours, though you could do it in a shorter amount of time if needed.

The guided tour of the Allianz Arena takes one hour, while the recommended amount of time to view the FC Bayern Museum is 1-1.5 hours.

The museum's opening times are 10am to 6pm. The tours go from around 10am to 5:30pm.

On matchdays, these opening times differ. You should check with the club when booking.

How much does a Bayern Munich stadium tour cost?

How to get to the Allianz Arena

If trams are preferred over the metro, it is possible to take a tram to Marienplatz from Ostbahnhof and Hauptbahnhof, which happen to be the largest train stations in Munich.

  • Louis van Gaal’s speech from the town hall balcony in May 2010
  • The Hall of Fame, which honors the 18 mega stars of FC Bayern Munich
  • FC Bayern Munich postcard from 1900 and two pub newsletters from 1902 and 1903 are three of the oldest items in the Museum
  • ‘Via Triumphalis’ which is a large section and contains all the Gold and Silver cups won by the team over the last 120 years
  • Treble Corner, which displays the club’s historic achievement in 2013 when they won the Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and Champions League trophies
  • 12-minute movie in FC Bayern Museum’s cinema about the most important and emotional moments in the club’s history
  • The Sanyo advertising barrel Jürgen Klinsmann kicked and made a hole after the coach substituted him during a match in 1997.
  • Before you step out, don’t forget to take a photo with the current squad.

If you have already booked your guided Allianz Arena tour, you must be at the Paulaner Fantreff North meeting point with your valid ticket 15 minutes before the tour starts.

If you plan to arrive at the North Entrance by taxi, get dropped off at Parkplatz Mitte.

The entrance to the Allianz Arena tour is well-signposted, and you can’t miss it.  Download layout of stadium

Visitors usually need around two hours to explore Allianz Arena.

The guided Allianz Arena tour lasts 45 minutes, and then you need 60 to 90 minutes to explore the FC Bayern Museum.

You may need more time at the Bayern Museum to see all the trophies Bayern has won, learn about its top stars, and listen to fascinating stories.

  • FC Bayern Munich’s Arena tour involves considerable walking and the use of stairways. Please wear comfortable shoes.
  • While you can take as many personal photographs and videos as you want, the use of photographic, video, and audio recording equipment for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.
  • Don’t bring along pushchairs and strollers since they are not permitted on the tours.

Allianz Arena is Europe’s biggest stadium with surrounding outdoor LED lighting for dynamic mood lighting.

Earlier, the stadium could only project three colors – red, blue, and white.

However, by the end of 2014, Allianz Arena installed new LED lighting on the facade, producing 16 million different colors.

The Allianz Arena gets illuminated for approximately three hours from sunset on non-matchdays.

The Munich stadium also lights up on certain evenings to celebrate special events.

More than 300,000 LED lights — over a surface area of 26,000 square meters — light up the stadium facade’s inflatable outer membrane.

The authorities have also introduced lighting to enhance the action on the pitch inside the Allianz Arena.

For example, a Mexican wave can be created to celebrate a goal during the match.

Check out how FC Bayern Munich celebrated Christmas with a lighting show inside the stadium.

FC Bayern Munich and their opponents, TSV 1860 Munich, used the city’s Olympic Stadium as their home ground.

In the mid-1990s, the clubs decided that the Olympiastadion built for the 1972 Summer Olympics would no longer be enough.

They had two options – reconstruct the Olympiastadion or build a new stadium.

The stadium’s foundation stone was laid on 21 Oct 2002, and construction got completed on 30 Apr 2005.

It was in time for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Swiss architect firm Herzog & de Meuron built the soccer stadium at the cost of €340 million.

The first official match held was a game between TSV 1860 Munchen and against FC Nuremberg.

Allianz, the financial services provider, secured the new stadium’s naming rights and signed a 30-year sponsorship deal.

And that is the reason why this football stadium in Munich is referred to as Allianz Arena.

Check out this Allianz Arena 360 panorama tour if you want to explore the stadium from your armchair.

Bayern München's Bundesliga World Tour trip to China and Singapore

After a successful visit in 2015, Bayern München returned to Asia this summer as part of the Audi Summer Tour and Bundesliga World Tour 2017. The Bundesliga champions' motto for the trip was "visiting friends," as they headed east for the third time in five years.

With friendly matches arranged in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore, Bayern were engaging with fans across Asia, while also competing against world-class opposition. The Bundesliga champions faced Arsenal in Shangai, AC Milan in Shenzhen and then Chelsea and Inter Milan, both in Singapore, as part of the International Champions Cup.

The last time Bayern travelled to Asia, wins over Inter and Spanish side Valencia capped off a fantastic trip. Matters on the pitch are vital once again for the club, but so is interaction with fans.

With roots in the football division of MTV Munchen, Bayern Munich were founded in 1900. The most successful club in German football history celebrated the first of their 33 league titles to date in 1932, well before the Bundesliga was set up in 1963. Bayern won 11 consecutive league titles between 2013 and 2023, before Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen brought this run to an end in the 2023-24 season. Die Roten are also record winners of the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) with 20 titles to their name, the most recent of which came in 2020.

Bayern's long track record of success extends beyond the borders of Germany. The club's vast trophy cabinet also includes six UEFA Champions League titles (previously the European Cup), two Intercontinental Cups and two FIFA Club World Cup™ trophies. Bayern became FIFA Club World Cup champions for the first time after beating Raja Casablanca (Morocco) 2-0 in 2013, repeating the feat with a 1-0 victory over UANL Tigres (Mexico) in 2020.

He also won the Ballon d'Or in 1972 and 1976. Beckenbauer later went on to win the World Cup for a second time in 1990, this time as Germany's head coach.

Munich, a Euros guide: Where to go in Europe's beer garden capital

M unich is one of the ten venues for the upcoming European Football Championships, and fans from Germany, Scotland, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine and Denmark will be descending on the capital of Bavaria to cheer their teams on. Also, Munich's famed Allianz Arena will see one second-round match and one of the tournament's two semi-final matches.

The 2024 tournament kicks off in Munich on June 14 when Germany hosts Scotland. But whether you are here to actually attend a match, or just happen to be in Munich, the question is - where, from the fan viewpoint, will the action be happening? Where to experience the football atmosphere away from the stadium? And besides football, what else does Munich have to offer? Here are a few tips.

1. Public screenings

The official fan zone is in the Olympiapark (venue of the 1972 Summer Olympics), where all 51 tournament matches will be shown - free of charge. The setting, located near the majestic Olympic Stadium, is the Olympic Lake, where the TV broadcasts will be projected onto a 120 square-metre outdoor screen.

2. Stadium: Allianz Arena

The Allianz Arena - home of football giant FC Bayern in the northern part of the city - is the venue for all the matches in Munich. Fans travelling from the Marienplatz square in the city centre are best advised to take the U6 subway line, a roughly 20-minute ride, to the Fröttmaning stop. During the championships the stadium will officially be called Fussball Arena München (Football Arena Munich).

If you're driving it is very important to know that beforehand you must book your parking permits for the public parking garages at the stadium. The number of permits is limited. Without advance booking you won't get in. Generally speaking, tournament organisers advise against driving with your car to the stadium.

3. Pilgrimage places for die-hard football fans

Munich stands for two major football clubs, the arch-rivals FC Bayern and TSV 1860 Munich. In the Allianz Arena, Bayern has established a museum which the club claims is the largest of its kind in Germany. You can book tickets to the museum online ahead of time and tickets can also be purchased in combination with a stadium tour.

But for some days during the tournament bookings cannot be made. A further pilgrimage point for Bayern fans is the team training quarters - with fan shop - in the Säbener Street in the southern part of the city.

TSV 1860 Munich is not the great supra-regional footballing power like FC Bayern, but the club has many die-hard fans in the city. The Grünwalder Stadion of what fans call the "Sechziger" (Sixties) is in the Grünwalder Street in the district of Giesing. It was built in 1911 and is thereby the oldest stadium in Munich. It was also the largest until 1972, when the Olympic Stadium was opened.

If the public viewing in the Olympic Park is too big for you, the "Stadion an der Schleißheimer Straße" - it's actually a pub - in the Maxvorstadt district might be a good bet. However, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, what is "probably Munich's most famous football pub" is anything but an insider tip. So it's best to book a seat early.

4. What else Munich offers besides football

The large open-air market Viktualienmarkt offers a full Bavarian experience: First Leberkäse (a kind of meat loaf) in a breadroll, then a stroll through the market stalls. If you still have time and the weather is fine, sit under the trees in the beer garden and drink a litre of beer while watching this archetypical Munich scene.

If you are already out and about in the city centre, you can also stop by Marienplatz square with the New Town Hall and carillon (daily at 11:00 and 12:00 and from March to October also at 17:00). Football fans will recognise the balcony: This is where FC Bayern celebrates the titles it has won with its supporters on the square below. Just around the corner is the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), which dominates Munich's cityscape with its two onion domes.

A dip in the Isar, the river that runs through the city, promises to cool you down in summer. The longest bathing zone close to the city centre is between Flauchersteg and Wittelsbacherbrücke.

To get a bit of fresh air and a break from the hustle and bustle, head to the English Garden, one of the largest inner-city parks in the world. It is also home to the Eisbach wave, where surfers show off their skills. If you like particularly well-kept parks, head to the west of the city to Nymphenburg Palace, once the summer residence of the Bavarian rulers.

If the weather is inclement, a magnificent indoor venue is the world-renowned museum of science and technology, Deutsches Museum, located on an island in the Isar River. There, 20,000 square metres of exhibition await you, so plan to budget a bit more of your time to take it all in.

From June 28 through July 7, a further diversion from the football frenzy will be the 41st Munich International Film festival , featuring films from around the world and screenings in several cinemas around the city.

Hansi Flick appointed new Barcelona manager: Ex-Bayern Munich, Germany coach signs deal until 2026

Flick has previously coached bayern munich and the german national team.

untitled-design-2024-05-29t145754-037.png

Hansi Flick is the new FC Barcelona coach, the Spanish giants announced Wednesday. The former Bayern Munich and German national team boss will take charge of the Blaugrana after the departure of Xavi Hernandez after signing a deal running until the summer of 2026, the team confirmed in a statement.

"FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement for the German to become men's first team football coach until 30 June 2026. The new coach has signed a contract at the Club's offices accompanied by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta; first vice president responsible for the sporting area, Rafa Yuste and the Club's sporting director, Anderson Luís de Souza, Deco."

Barcelona have decided to move on from Xavi's management and decided to appoint the German manager who will is taking charge of a team outside his home country for the first time. Barcelona confirmed their agreement with Xavi to exit the club only a few minutes before announcing the new coach.

"FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernández Creus have reached an agreement to sever the contract the coach and his staff had with the Club until the end of the 2024/25 season. The Club wishes to publicly thank Xavi and the rest of his coaching staff for their commitment, dedication and generosity, and for their help in reaching an agreement to sever the contract. Furthermore, we wish him success in the future on both a personal and professional level."

Flick started his managerial career in 2006, as he became the assistant coach to Jurgen Low at the German national team following the resignation of Jurgen Klinsmann. Low and Flick led Germany through a rebuilding phase and then to the final of the European Championships in 2008. In 2010 the team reached the World Cup semifinal, the same stage of the European Championships in 2012 before being crowned World Champions in 2014 in Brazil.

After the success in the tournament, Flick stepped down as assistant coach and took a job as sporting director at the German Football Federation before returning to Hoffenheim in 2017 as sporting director. In the summer of 2019 Flick arrived at Bayern Munich as assistant to Nico Kovac. The Bavarian club went on to sack their Croatian coach after just months in the job and Flick was promoted to caretaker first team coach, a decision that was to change the course of Bayern's history. After a good start, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed Flick in the job until the end of the season. Flick recorded 22 wins in his first 25 games in charge, surpassing Pep Guardiola's figures of 21 wins in his first 25 matches. The season ended with the Munich club winning a historic treble which included an 8-2 defeat for Barcelona in the Champions League at the hands of Flick's team. The German coach was awarded the UEFA Coach of the Year award.

After Bayern, Flick became the coach of the German national team in 2021. After eight wins in his eight games in charge, Hansi Flick's team lost to Japan in the 2022 Qatar World Cup and were knocked out of the tournament at the group stage. After more negative results, months later Flick was sacked as Germany coach. The Flick era at Barcelona is now about to start.
