Samia appoints new tourist board chief in latest government reshuffle

• These changes are part of an ongoing government reshuffle aimed at improving efficiency and leadership within the Tanzanian administration.

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed a new chief of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) in the latest reshuffle of government technocrats.

Mr Ephraim Mafuru, who was serving as the chief executive officer of the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), is now the new director general of the tourist board, replacing Mr Damasi Mfugale, whose appointment has been revoked.

The decision was communicated in a statement issued by the director of Presidential Communications at the State House, Ms Zuhura Yunus.

Additionally, President Hassan revoked the appointment of Richard Kiiza as the commissioner of conservation of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) but did not announce his replacement.

The President also appointed Mr Ally Senga Gugu, who previously served as the Regional Administrative Secretary for the Dodoma region, to become the permanent secretary of the ministry of Home Affairs.

His position was taken by Mr Kasper Mmuya, who was appointed as the new regional administrative secretary for Dodoma. Mr Mmuya is the outgoing permanent secretary of the ministry of Home Affairs.

The changes also involved the appointment of Ms Mwajuma Waziri, who was deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Water, to become permanent secretary, replacing Prof Jamal Katundu, whose appointment was revoked.

An Act to establish a Tourist Board for Tanzania.

[1st December, 1962]

Acts Nos. 25 of 1962 [R.L. Cap. 470] 1 of 1968 18 of 1992 G.N. No. 133 of 1968

1.    Short title

    This Act may be cited as the Tanzania Tourist Board Act.

2.    Interpretation

    In this Act, unless the context requires otherwise–

    "Board" means the Tanzania Tourist Board established by section 3;

    "financial year" means a year commencing on the first day of July and ending on the next following thirtieth day of June:

    Provided that the first financial year of the Board shall commence on the date of coming into operation of this Act and end on the next following thirtieth day of June;

    "member" means a member of the Board and includes the Chairman;

    "Minister" means the Minister responsible for tourism;

    "the Ministry" means the Ministry for the time being under the charge of the Minister;

    "Tourism Fund" means the Tourism Fund established pursuant to section 17 of the Public Finance Act function a1(msg) { myWindow=window.open('','','width=234,height=74,left=400 ,scrollbars=1,top=400,screenX=400,screenY=100');myWindow.document.write(msg);} * .

3.    Establishment of Board

    (1) There is hereby established a Board which shall–

    (a)    be a body corporate to be known as the Tanzania Tourist Board with perpetual succession and a common seal;
