Buckcherry Cancel Upcoming Shows After 2 Members Test Positive for COVID-19

Buckcherry have canceled around two weeks' worth of concerts on the current North American tour behind their new album  Hellbound  after two band members tested positive for COVID-19 .

The canceled shows, which Buckcherry aim to make up when possible, were due to take place in and around the Midwestern United States from July 16–July 25. According to a statement from the Josh Todd -led rock outfit, the tour will resume on July 30 in Columbus, Ohio.

Down toward the bottom of this post, see the list of affected dates as well as the remaining shows scheduled to take the act around the U.S. and Canada through the end of the year.

"We just discovered that two of our band members have tested positive for COVID-19," Buckcherry revealed on Wednesday (July 14). "Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of all involved, we will be canceling all shows until July 30th in Columbus to allow them to recover and to quarantine."

The group continued, "While we know this is a disappointment, please know that the safety of our fans is of the utmost importance to us, and we will use every effort to reschedule the nine shows prior to that date. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience."

Without identifying the afflicted band members, Buckcherry offered an update  on July 15. "The two guys who tested positive for COVID are doing well," they said. "Currently experiencing only mild symptoms and, because they were vaccinated, we do not expect them to get worse. And while the rest of the band/crew are also all vaccinated, we are taking all the necessary precautions to ensure safety for everyone involved."

Amid the pandemic and before tours had resumed, singer Todd became a certified phlebotomist and assisted in the ongoing vaccine campaign. Get more info on Buckcherry concerts here .

Posted by Buddy Iahn | Jul 15, 2021

All shows through July 30th are canceled

Buckcherry has canceled nine Hellbound Tour dates due to two of its band members contracting COVID-19. The band shared the news late Wednesday (July 14th) across its social media pages.

“We just discovered that two of our band members have tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of all involved, we will be canceling all shows until July 30th in Columbus to allow them to recover and to quarantine,” the band writes . “While we know this is a disappointment, please know that the safety of our fans is of the utmost importance to us and we will use every effort to reschedule the 9 shows prior to that date. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience. Please hold on to your tickets and stand-by for more information.”

Shows in Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana, Michigan and Ohio are affected. They currently have dates scheduled through the end of the year, including a run of European stops at the end of November into December.

The band is on tour in support of its new album  Hellbound , which is available now.

Last month, the group’s third album,  15,  was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of two million units. Its album singles “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry” were certified 4x platinum and 2x platinum, respectively. 15 was released in 2006 and was the first Buckcherry album after a four-year hiatus.

Buckcherry are an American hard rock band from Anaheim California. The band was initially formed in 1995, before disbanding in 2002, only to reform again in 2005.

Lead Vocalist Josh Todd founded Buckcherry in the mid 90’s after bonding with guitarist Keith Nelson over a mutual appreciation of AC/DC in a California tattoo parlour. After recording music together, they added a bass player, Jonathan Brightman, and a drummer, Devon Glenn, and toured local bars and clubs in Hollywood, under the name Sparrow.

After gaining a local fanbase due to their classic rock n roll style, they were quickly snapped up by Dreamsworks Records, and forced to change their name to legal reasons. The band claims they named themselves after a draq queen in Hollywood.

Buckcherry released their self-titled debut studio album in 1999, which was a commercial and critical success, with the album certified Gold. Following on from the album, the band toured extensively, with highlights including an opening slot for Lenny Kravitz and playing at Woodstock festival.

They quickly followed with a sophomore album “Time Bomb” in 2001, however they album was considered by fans and critics as a disappointment, and with various artistic differences and member changes within the group, the band eventually broke up in 2002

After Todd and Nelson flirted with a project with Guns N’ Roses member Slash, and wrote and produced records for other bands such as Velvet Revolver, they decided to reform Buckcherry for a second stint in 2005.

They unleashed their successful comeback album “15” in 2006, which marked the completion of a successful return for the group as it was certified platinum. Since their return, Buckcherry have continued to write fruitful albums, including 2013’s “Confessions”.

Since their comeback, the band have played on massive tours with rock behemoths KISS and Motley Crue, and contributed music to movie soundtracks such as the “Avengers Assemble”

Live reviews

Buckcherry have been a band out of time for as long as they’ve been together. Formed in 1995 they were too late to fit in with the Glam Metal scene of their native Los Angeles, too late to ride the wave of grunge in the early 90’s and a little bit too early to truly capitalize on the post-grunge boom at the turn of the 21st century. However, if you don’t fit in you can only stand out, and that’s exactly what Buckcherry do. They’ve built up a devoted fan-base by not only fusing the two genres that they missed the boat on the first time around better than anyone else around, but also by regularly turning in staggering live show after staggering live show which anyone can see to this day. Combining the street-born swagger of golden era Guns ‘n’ Roses with the tuned down riffs and heavy angst of Silverchair and Shinedown, a Buckcherry concert can stake a legitimate claim to being a melting pot of the last thirty years of American rock. Everything that made it exciting, edgy and life affirming can be found in spades along with Keith Nelson and Stevie D.’s duelling, scything guitar work, while all being conducted to perfection by Josh Todd, a frontman who could be the dictionary definition of commanding. The band hasn’t missed a step live as they come up to their 20th year as a band, and they’re only getting better. So anyone looking for the best time they can have with some sensational riffs and amps turned to twelve can’t go wrong with an evening with Buckcherry.

Buckcherry, the Californian rockers have been performing as a group for almost twenty years albeit a short hiatus in the early 00's. They have amassed a loyal and dedicated fan base for their hard rock sound and they repay this loyalty with slick and energised live shows.

The consistently high quality of their gigs means fans continue to sell it out again and again to the delight of the band. As they appear under the moody, grungey lighting the audience know they are in for an old school rock performance. Often performing partly clothed, the band appears showing off their vast array of tattoos before launching into an aggressive rendition of 'Lit Up'.

The crowds mosh and jostle intently as Josh Todd encourages them to give everything they have as the band thrash out the classics such as 'Sorry' and 'All Night Long'. You begin to realise why the band performs topless apart from being proud of their body art, each member is dripped in sweat by the finale due to the intensity in which they recreate their music. This is a credit to this hardworking rock band and why the fans continue to sell out shows again and again.

I would have to say with the 2 grouping bands that open for "Buckcherry," "AEGES" sounded pretty damn good!! Hope to see 'Aeges" make a name for themselves across the USA. Buckcherry on the other hand, couldn't ask for a down to earth awesome band that started in Los Angeles, CA (like "The Red Hot Chili Peppers," and "Nirvana"). Bands like Buckcherry are what inspires young kids like my daughter, who loves the sound of this type of music just like her Ol' Man, and pushes herself to better herself when she plays her variety of instruments!! I would like to see them again if a chance was to pop up again around "TEXAS!" I would recommend anyone that loves Rock N Roll or Heavy Metal,to go see "Buckcherry," and experience the intensity and the positive vibe the band puts out to their fans and the communication with their songs. Ill give them a high "10" in my scrap book of concerts that I have experienced.

Buckcherry is one of my favorite bands that I try to see whenever I can. I prefer to watch live music in smaller venues versus larger venues so when I saw they were playing at a local club I made sure I could go. They are true rock n roll performers. The venue had a small issue with the main mic and its quality and clarity. Josh Todd noticed the issue, didn't stop the show or indicate to anyone that it needed to be changed and just continued on with the show in spite of the issues. That is a true hallmark of a great performer and a great band.

The size of the venue was perfect and I got to rock and enjoy their music up close without being overly crowded. They played all of their great hits and mixed up the playlist with music from their most recent album. Again this was another great performance by Buckcherry and I will definitely go see them again!!

Josh Todd was amazing as usual. He was worth the nine hours we drove to get there. I just wish we could have gotten closer and I wish there would be an opportunity to actually meet him, after all if we're there because he really love this guy and we love his music is a hundred percent real that is one of the things that make him so awesome. I do find it a little unfair that only people who know somebody or have hundreds of dollars to dish out can get close to him. I don't think that's the way he is and if he knew how important he was to some of us, speaking for myself he's been my idol for 10 years now and as I mentioned earlier I drove 9 hours to see him I just wish we could have met him

The first thing I want to say is " THANK GOD FOR BUCK CHERRY " they have restored my faith in rock n roll. I saw them about 9 or 10 years ago in salt lake city, Utah. It was at a small venue called salt air, ( about 4,000 people ) They reminded me of an orchestra every one in the band knew their part and didn't miss a beat. I have followed them since, buying their albums, watching their videos. I am 67 years old and will rock until I drop. My 2 daughters luv ya and so does my grandson. Josh Todd is total Rock Star. ROCK ON BUCK CHERRY! Allen Wise Salt L ake City, Utah.

BuckCherry was amazing!! Been waiting a long time, worth the wait 100%! Venue, Hardtimes, and their people were the absolute worst so won't go there again to see them. WILL, however, HAPPILY, make a 3, 5 even 10 hour road trip elsewhere to see them!!! YES!! THAT killer of a show! (And, YES, THAT disorganized, poorly run, where you get 10 different answers to one single question, venue. And God forbid you ask where the merch is set up!!! WTF)

Can't wait to see them again!!!

Wow. Amazing performances all round. Rocky Kramer opening was a great start, got me lifted. Definitely looking for future performances. Then the treatment, wow, now following and hope to see again in the future. Then for the headline act BUCKCHERRY, WOW WOW WOW. Amazing, electrifying performance and without a doubt the best live band performance of have ever seen. Roughly an 80% chance I'll be there at Cardiff too.

Went to see them last night in Dayton Ohio they were great. The Venue was horrible though; dirty, overpriced drinks ( mixed drink & 1 beer was $11), bathroom was in bad spot and in need of help. Their performance was awesome, will see them every chance I get. Will not ever go to that venue again though, which was almost a 3 hour drive for us.

Hey everyone. Josh here. It breaks my heart to say I’m gonna have to do the smart thing for my health and pull the plug on the rest of these shows. After almost 3 weeks of battling this thing through performances and taking numerous drugs to clear it, it’s taken a toll on me and I have no control of my voice until it passes.

It takes a lot to take me out. I have sang with strep throat, colds…the list goes on. But, at this point, I have to be careful not to damage myself. I’m very sorry but at some point we will be back.

Love to all the kickass BC fans I appreciate the well wishes.

Concert goers ‘really frustrated’ as Co-op Live events cancelled and moved

Co-op Live has axed events due to ongoing issues.

buckcherry tour cancelled

Concert goers have been left “really frustrated” after events at Co-op Live in Manchester were cancelled or moved to another venue at the last minute after the new arena was hit by technical problems.

Olivia Rodrigo‘s sold-out concerts were cancelled while Take That announced they are moving their shows in May from Co-op Live to AO Arena in Manchester.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie concert was postponed just over an hour before the rapper was set to perform and will now be held at AO Arena, while Peter Kay, The Black Keys and Keane’s shows have also been affected.

Mr Waite said: “As I am disabled person, I go up with my friend who is my carer, so when we go somewhere we have to plan it so that she is not working or can get the day off as a holiday, so she’s losing out.

“I’ve paid for our hotel well in advance as the tickets for concerts come out really early so you book your hotel before the prices go up.

“Also, I have a dog who I have to make sure has somewhere to go for the night and you don’t get your money back on the kennels.

“I’m just very angry, frustrated and let down by the whole Co-op Live experience.

“I’ll never forget the start of this venue, it’s been tainted in my eyes already.”

Ms Mills, a retired marine insurance consultant, said: “They should never have tried to open it so soon, because obviously there are big things that need to be sorted out there.”

She said it was “brilliant” that Take That chose to hold their concert in a different venue on the same date but “it shouldn’t have been left to Take That to do it”.

“It’s not fair to the fans that are waiting to go to this supposedly beautiful new arena,” she said.

“I think they overstepped themselves and it wasn’t ready for opening. They should have recognised that.

“There must have been a time when they realised that this just wasn’t going to happen, instead of letting it go as far as it did.”

The new music venue, which has postponed its opening numerous times, said it will be taking “a short pause to events” before welcoming members of the public to the arena from May 14.

A statement from Co-op Live said this is to “fully ensure the safety and security of fans and artists” and allow for an “independent inspection of all elements of the arena ceiling” following an issue with the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.

Co-op Live arena

Olivia Rodrigo gigs called off as chaos continues at Manchester’s Co-op Live

Postponements come hours after queueing fans were turned away from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie gig on Wednesday evening

The troubled Co-op Live arena has postponed Olivia Rodrigo’s concerts as part of her Guts world tour because of a “technical issue”, hours after the last-minute cancellation of its opening concert for the third time.

Two hours after announcing that A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie would no longer be performing, the venue confirmed that Rodrigo’s concerts on 3 and 4 May had also been cancelled.

Wednesday’s show was supposed to be the first official event at the 23,500-capacity Manchester venue, after several were cancelled or postponed in the past two weeks.

The venue said there was a problem during the soundcheck, with a component of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system found to be defective.

The arena wrote on X: “Due to an ongoing venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts world tour on May 3 and 4 are being postponed. Ticket-holders can either hold on to their tickets or obtain a refund at point of purchase.”

The Grammy award winner Rodrigo is expected to perform in Glasgow, Birmingham and London between 7 and 18 May.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie confirmed that “something happened” during his soundcheck that meant his show had to be cancelled. “I’m heated about the situation too, but safety first. Manchester, I got you, just stay tuned for further info,” he said on X.

His performance was cancelled at 6.40pm, 10 minutes after doors were supposed to open at 6.30pm. Fans were queuing outside the venue.

It is the latest in a series of problems for the venue. Rick Astley performed as a surprise guest to about 11,000 arena workers, VIPs and press for the free test event on 20 April, but as many as 4,000 tickets were cancelled , some just an hour before the show, leaving ticket-holders furious.

The venue said this was because of “testing critical procedures”, which meant it had to reduce the capacity for the event.

The venue apologised, and told ticket-holders they could attend a gig by the US rock duo the Black Keys a week later instead. The venue then had to postpone that gig until 15 May.

The arena also postponed two gigs by the comedian Peter Kay, who is now due to appear on 23 and 24 May.

Gary Roden quit as general manager of the arena last week over delays to its opening the venue, and after being criticised for saying some small music venues were “poorly run”.

The venue is part of the Oak View Group. Tim Leiweke, its chair and chief executive, said: “The safety and security of all visiting and working on Co-op Live is our utmost priority, and we could not and will not run any event until it is absolutely safe to do so.

“Today was a very unexpected situation but without a doubt the right decision. I deeply apologise for the impact that this has had on ticket-holders and fans.”

The Co-operative Group said it was disappointed by the announcement and would seek a “full explanation” from Oak View.

“As the naming rights sponsor for Co-op Live, we are shocked at the incident which has led to late cancellation of tonight’s show at the arena,” a Co-op Group spokesperson said.

“We are relieved that no one has been injured, but we share the disappointment and frustration of ticket-holders, many of whom are Co-op members, with the continuing delay to the opening of Co-op Live and the disruption that this is causing to everyone who has been looking forward to attending events.

“We will be seeking a full explanation from Oak View Group, who are responsible for the building, to the obvious questions arising from this, together with a clear plan from the Co-op Live venue management team at OVG for opening the venue and postponed and future events.

“Safety is, of course, the number one priority and it is critical that Co-op members and other ticket-holders can enjoy events in a venue with the very highest levels of security and safety measures in place.”

Situated on the Etihad Campus next to the Manchester City football ground, the £365m venue is scheduled to host Take That, the Killers, Eric Clapton and Barry Manilow in the coming weeks, and there are plans to hold the MTV Europe music awards there in November.

First-time concert-goer 'crying eyes out' after Co-op Live cancels Olivia Rodrigo

  • Thursday 2 May 2024 at 6:26pm

buckcherry tour cancelled

A young music fan says she was up crying at night, after bosses at troubled music venue Co-op Live cancelled the first-ever gig she was due to attend.

Isabella Walker, from High Legh in Cheshire, had been given tickets to see US star Olivia Rodrigo as a Christmas present last year.

The 12-year-old says the singer is her "idol" and found out from social media that the show, originally scheduled for this Saturday 4 May, would not go ahead.

"It’s my first ever concert. I’ve always wanted to go," Isabella told ITV News.

"She’s my absolute idol. It was a Christmas present. I’ve been counting down the days to this, counting down the seconds.

"Honestly, I’m really disappointed. Last night, I was up crying my eyes out because I’m so upset about this."

Isabella also fears she may not be able to use her gift in future.

"I'm honestly not too sure," she said, "I've had a look at her [tour] dates and it seems she's not really free."

Opening night at the £365m music and entertainment venue has been cancelled on three different occasions, as contractors continue work to complete it.

Yesterday, fans of rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie were told his performance - the third scheduled opener for the new arena - was axed as they arrived with just minutes to go .

Co-op Live's operators Oak View Group revealed an air conditioning nozzle fell from a ceiling during the gig's soundcheck and safety checks had to carried out on every other nozzle.

Rodrigo's two shows, due to happen this weekend on 3 and 4 May, were also shelved just hours later .

Isabella added: "I understand this is not Olivia's fault. It's Co-op Arena's.

"I just think they need to be a bit more organised. Me and my friends are really disappointed."

Tim Leiweke, Chairman and Chief Executive of venue operators Oak View Group, said: "The safety and security of all visiting and working on Co-op Live is our utmost priority, and we could not and will not run any event until it is absolutely safe to do so.

"I deeply apologise for the impact that this has had on ticket holders and fans."

Three-time Grammy winner Rodrigo took her Guts tour across North America during March and April.

She most recently performed at the 3Arena in Dublin, and is expected to perform at London’s O2 on 14, 15, 17 and 18 May.

On her Instagram story, Rodrigo said she was “so bummed” that two of her shows have been postponed.

“I’ve been having such a great time in Europe so far and I’m sooooo disappointed that we’re unable to perform in Manchester due to on-going venue-related technical issues," she wrote

“We’re doing our best to reschedule the show."
