ADVANCE RESERVATION SYSTEM Terms of Use AGREEMENT

1. General.

1.1 The Advance Reservation System (" ARS ") of the United States Capitol Visitor Center is a service provided to the public by the United States Congress to book reservations for tours of the United States Capitol. The ARS is owned and managed by the Office of Visitor Services through the Office of the Architect of the Capitol (" AOC "). This Terms of Use Agreement (" Agreement ") sets forth the legally binding terms for your use of the ARS. By using the ARS you agree to be bound by this Agreement, whether you are a "Visitor" (which means you are browsing the ARS website) or you are a "Member" (which means you have registered as a user of ARS). The term "User" refers to both a Visitor and a Member. You are only authorized to browse this website or use the ARS service (whether your use is intended or unintentional) if you agree to abide by all applicable laws and to this Agreement. Please read this Agreement carefully and save it. If you do not agree with this Agreement you should leave this website and discontinue use of ARS services immediately. If you wish to use this website and make use of the ARS service, you must read this Agreement and indicate your acceptance as outlined below, or during the registration process.

1.2 This Agreement shall remain in full force and effect while you use the ARS website. If you are registered with the ARS you may terminate your registration at any time, for any reason, by following the instructions found on the ARS website. The AOC may terminate your use of the ARS website at any time, without warning and without reason, at no liability.

1.3 The AOC reserves the right, in its discretion, to change or modify all or any part of this Agreement at any time, effective immediately upon notice published on this website. Your use of the website following any change or modification constitutes your binding acceptance of these terms and conditions, including any changes or modifications made by the AOC. If at any time the terms and conditions of this Agreement are no longer acceptable to you, you should immediately cease use of the ARS website.

1.4 You should, at all times, ensure that your contact information is updated with the ARS website. If you need to update any of your online and/or off-line contact information, please follow the instruction on the ARS website.

2. Use of Content.

2.1 You acknowledge that the ARS website contains information, software, photographs, audio and video clips, graphics, links and other material that are owned by the AOC or other United States governmental agencies (collectively, the "Content"). You agree to comply with any notices, information, or restrictions contained in any Content available on or accessed through the ARS website. Users of the ARS website may use the Content only for their personal, non-commercial, use.

2.2 You may not modify, publish, transmit, transfer or sell, reproduce, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, display, or in any way exploit any of the Content, in whole or in part. Content consisting of downloadable software may not be reverse-engineered. You grant to the AOC the right to edit, copy, publish, distribute, translate and otherwise use in any medium and for any purpose any content that you place on the ARS website without compensation to you. You represent and warrant that you are authorized to grant all rights set forth in the preceding sentence.

2.3 You may not download Content on this web site. No copying, storage, redistribution or publication of any Content on the ARS website is permitted.

2.4. Any information you provide to the ARS website may be used by the AOC and the United States Government, without any compensation to you.

3. Rules of Conduct.

3.1 By using the ARS website you agree not to:

(a) Use the ARS website for any unlawful reason, or in a manner prohibited by this Agreement.

(b) Post any content which is libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, harassing or threatening;

(c) Post content which contains viruses or other contaminating or destructive features;

(d) Post content which violates the rights of others, such as content which infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or violates any right of privacy or publicity; or (d) otherwise violates any applicable law or regulation.

(e) Make any part of the ARS website available as part of another service by hyperlink framing, "deep linking" or otherwise. You may not link the ARS website to, or post links on the ARS to, other websites.

(f) Use the ARS website for any commercial purpose, nor shall you distribute any advertising or solicitation of funds or goods and services or solicit users to join competitive online services.

(g) Use any false or inaccurate information for purposes of registering as a user of the ARS website, or for purposes of registering for any promotions offered through the ARS website;

(h) Allow any other person or entity to use your username or password for posting or viewing comments or sending or receiving materials or use the account of another user for any purpose;

(i) Sell or otherwise transfer your user status; or

(j) Delete or revise any material or other information of any other user or the AOC;

(k) Harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including e-mail addresses;

(l) Take any action that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on the ARS website?s infrastructure;

(m) Use any device, software, or routine to interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the ARS website or any activity being conducted on the ARS website;

(n) Use any engine, software, tool, agent, or other mechanism (including, without limitation, browsers, spiders, robots, avatars, or intelligent agents) to navigate or search the ARS website other than (i) the search engine and search agents available from the AOC on the ARS website and (ii) generally available third party web browsers (e.g., Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer) (if applicable);

(o) Attempt to decipher, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any of the software comprising or in any way making up a part of the ARS website.

You further agree not to violate or attempt to violate the security of the ARS website, including, without limitation, actions such as:

(a) Accessing data not intended for you or logging into a server or account that you are not authorized to access; (b) Attempting to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures without proper authorization; (c) Attempting to interfere with service to any user, host, or network, including, without limitation, by way of submitting a virus to or overloading, "flooding," "spamming," "mail bombing," or "crashing" the ARS website; (d) Sending unsolicited e-mail, including promotions and/or advertising of products or services; or (e) Forging any TCP/IP packet header or any part of the header information in any e-mail or posting.

Violations of system or network security may result in civil or criminal liability.

4. Managing Content.

4.1 The AOC is not responsible for any content posted to the ARS website by users. The AOC reserves the right to delete, move or edit any content that it may determine, in its sole discretion, violates or may violate this Agreement or is otherwise unacceptable. You shall remain solely responsible for all content posted by you.

5. No Endorsement.

5.1 The AOC does not represent or endorse the accuracy or reliability of any content posted on the ARS website and you acknowledge that any reliance upon such content shall be at your sole risk.

5.2 The ARS website may contain links to sites on the Internet, which are owned and operated by third parties (the " External Sites "). You acknowledge that the AOC is not responsible for the availability of, or the content located on or through any External Site. You should contact the site administrator or Webmaster for those External Sites if you have any concerns regarding such links or the content located on such External Sites.

6. Indemnity.

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold the AOC and the United States Government and its agents or officers (collectively, the " US Government ") harmless from and against any and all claims, liability, losses, costs and expenses (including attorneys' fees) incurred by the US Government in connection with any use or alleged use of the service under your user name by any person, whether or not authorized by you. The AOC reserves the right, at your expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, and in such case, you agree to cooperate with the AOC?s defense of such claim.

7. Termination of Service.

7.1 The AOC may change, suspend or discontinue all or any aspect of the ARS website at any time, including the availability of any feature, database, or Content without prior notice or liability.

7.2 The AOC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to restrict, suspend or terminate your access to all or any part of the ARS website at any time, for any reason, without prior notice or liability.

7.3 Failure to adhere to this Agreement may result in the restriction, suspension or termination of your access to all or any part of the ARS website without prior notice or liability.

8. Cancellation of Your Tour of the United States Capitol

The U.S. Capitol reserves the right to suspend scheduled tours at any time and for any reason.  To cancel your tour of the United States Capitol, please have your confirmation number available.  You may cancel your tour at visitthecapitol.gov or by calling 202-226-8000.

9. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY.

9.1 THE AOC MAKES NO WARRANTIES THAT THE ARS WEBSITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE; NOR DOES THE AOC MAKE ANY WARRANTY AS TO THE RESULTS TO BE OBTAINED FROM USE OF THE ARS WEBSITE, ITS SERVICES OR ITS CONTENT. THE ARS WEBSITE, THE SERVICE PROVIDED AND THE CONTENT WITHIN ARE DISTRIBUTED ON AN "AS IS, AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. THE AOC DOES NOT MAKE ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF TITLE OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE ARS WEBSITE, ANY CONTENT OR ANY SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH THE ARS WEBSITE. THE AOC DOES NOT WARRANT THAT ANY FILES AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOADING THROUGH THE ARS WEBSITE WILL BE FREE OF VIRUSES OR SIMILAR CONTAMINATION OR DESTRUCTIVE FEATURES. YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICE AND THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF THE CONTENT IS ASSUMED SOLELY BY YOU.

9.2 NEITHER THE AOC NOR ITS AGENTS SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY ACT, DIRECT OR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF SUCH PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

9.3 THE AOC RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ALTER THE CONTENT OF THIS SITE IN ANY WAY, AT ANY TIME, FOR ANY REASON, WITHOUT PRIOR NOTIFICATION, AND WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF SUCH CHANGES. THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY EVEN IF THE AOC OR THE US GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF SUCH DAMAGE.

9.4 THE AOC RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION, OR REVOKE YOUR STATUS AS A USER AT ANY TIME, FOR ANY REASON. THE AOC WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH NOTIFICATION OF SUCH CANCELLATION OR REVOCATION.

9.5. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY STATEMENT TO THE CONTRARY IN THIS AGREEMENT, THE AOC DOES NOT WAIVE ITS, OR THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT LIABILITY, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES YOU MAY SUFFER AS A RESULT OF THE USE OF THE ARS WEBSITE. YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND AND ASSUME ALL RISKS INHERENT IN THE USE OF THE ARS WEBSITE.

10. Miscellaneous.

This Agreement shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, and the parties irrevocably consent to bring any action to enforce this Agreement in the federal courts located in Washington, DC.. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof, and supersedes all previous written or oral agreements between the parties with respect to such subject matter. All provisions hereof shall survive any termination of this Agreement as well as any other revisions which by their terms or sense are intended to survive.

11. Severability and Integration.

Unless otherwise specified herein, this Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the AOC and governs your use of the ARS website. If any portion of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, that portion shall be construed in a manner consistent with applicable law to reflect, as nearly as possible, the original intention of the parties, and the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.

This Agreement is accepted upon your use of the ARS Website or any of the ARS Services and is further affirmed by you becoming a registered group. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and AOC regarding the use of the ARS. The failure of AOC to exercise or enforce any right or provision of this Agreement shall not operate as a waiver of such right or provision. The section titles in this Agreement are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect. This Agreement operates to the fullest extent permissible by law. If any provision of this Agreement is unlawful, void or unenforceable, that provision is deemed severable from this Agreement and does not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

How often do tours run throughout the day? + -

Old Town Trolley Tours of DC operates the city’s largest fleet of sightseeing vehicles, and this allows us to pick up and drop off more frequently than any other trolley company. The frequency of the trolleys depends on the time of the year, as well as traffic and weather conditions.

Which DC tours give me access to Arlington National Cemetery? + -

1. Old Town Trolley Ticket – Every Old Town Trolley day tour ticket offers a shuttle from the Lincoln Memorial stop to Arlington National Cemetery. Visitors can enter and walk Arlington at their leisure.

2. Old Town Trolley + Arlington Cemetery Tour Package – This package includes guided-tour access to Arlington and 10 unique stops at the most notable landmarks, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the John F. Kennedy gravesite, and Arlington House. A loop gives visitors the chance to hop on and off at a variety of key points of interest.

3. Monuments by Moonlight + Arlington Cemetery Tour Package – This package includes a nighttime tour of DC’s monuments, which offers a unique perspective of the monuments, and a separate ticket for Arlington National Cemetery tours for use at another time. With the Monuments by Moonlight Tour, you can cover many of these sites in one night, and the package allows you to visit Arlington National Cemetery during the day. Take advantage of the package and enjoy a special discounted rate. Transportation to Arlington is not included in the Monuments by Moonlight package.

What is the National Mall, how large is it, and does Old Town Trolley cover it all? + -

Our DC tours cover a majority of the National Mall, with stops at several Smithsonian museums and National Monuments and Memorials, such as the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, and the FDR Memorial.

In what order should I see the monuments in DC? + -

The President and Dr. Biden are delighted to welcome members of the public to tour the White House. Public tour requests are scheduled through your Member of Congress and their Congressional Tour Coordinator. Constituents may reach your Member of Congress and Congressional Tour Coordinator through the U.S. House of Representatives Switchboard at 202-225-3121, the U.S. Senate Switchboard at 202-224-3121, or online at  www.congress.gov/members .

Consistent with prior practices, public White House tour requests must be submitted a minimum of 21 days in advance and no more than 90 days in advance of the requested tour date(s). Reservations cannot be accepted for tour dates outside this 21 – 90-day window.  

Public tours are typically available from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, excluding Federal holidays or unless otherwise noted. If your tour is confirmed, please note that you will be assigned a specific time.  All White House tours are free of charge. The White House tour schedule is subject to change, with little notice, based on inclement weather or official use.

If you are a citizen of a foreign country, please contact your embassy in Washington, D.C. for assistance in submitting a tour request.

Identification Requirements

All U.S. citizens ages 18 and older, and foreign nationals of all ages (including children), must present a valid, government-issued photo ID upon arrival for their tour. Acceptable forms of identification are below.

Getting Here

Use of public transportation is strongly encouraged, as there is no parking available on the White House complex and street parking is limited. The closest Metrorail stations to the White House are Federal Triangle (blue and orange lines), Metro Center (blue, orange, silver, and red lines), and McPherson Square (blue, orange, and silver lines).

The White House Tour entrance is located in Sherman Park at 15th Street NW and Alexander Hamilton Place NW. If arriving by rideshare, use the White House Visitor Center (WHVC) as the drop-off address. The WHVC is located at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20230, which is one block from the White House.

Restrooms are located at the White House Visitors Center, located at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20230. There are no restrooms available once you arrive for your tour.

Accessibility

The White House tour route is wheelchair accessible. Visitors who wish to use a White House wheelchair should notify a U.S. Secret Service officer upon arrival.

Guide animals are permitted in the White House.

Health and Safety Guidance

Guests who receive a confirmed tour reservation will be issued a White House Tour Pass ahead of their tour date containing pertinent health and safety guidance.

Before you travel to Washington DC, it’s important to plan your visit by making advance reservations at many popular attractions. It’s important to check out each website for the latest on the hours of operation. Some attractions remain closed. (updated November 29, 2022)

1 National Archives

2. The White House

3. US Holocaust Museum

4. Treasury Building

Notes: Background check is required. Visitors must enter through the West building entrance (Bell entrance).  This entrance is located in between the Treasury Building and the White House.  A docent will meet you to escort the group into the building.

5. Washington Monument

8. Ford’s Theater National Historic Site

If available, unreserved tickets are otherwise free to the public and may be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are recommended to guarantee your place on a tour.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the National Museum of the American Indian , and the Smithsonian’s beloved Folklife Festival is celebrating with a program honoring “Indigenous Voices of the Americas.” Through Monday, the National Mall comes alive with cultures spanning two continents. Visit tents and outdoor structures to listen to master storytellers and musicians; watch chefs share professional tips and traditional foodways; and learn how craftspeople are keeping their knowledge of weaving, ceramics and other art forms alive for future generations. Families can try a variety of hands-on crafts and attend performances for young people. You might not expect to find a group of Bolivian women hosting skateboarding workshops on ramps on Jefferson Drive, or a field with lacrosse and archery games, but that’s the kind of thing that makes coming to Folklife an annual tradition for so many Washingtonians, despite the sweltering heat. No matter what catches your eye, stick around for the evening concerts, which include Indigenous hip-hop ranging from Florida to Chile (Friday) and a contemporary take on traditional Inuit dance and music (Saturday). Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Monday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Free .

Chamber Dance Project at Harman Hall

Performing in the summer, Washington’s contemporary ballet company can often be relied on for a bold conceptual gamble. The troupe’s 2024 season, titled “Ramblin’,” boasts live performances by the Red Clay Ramblers, the Tony Award-winning string band. The band’s tunes will accompany “Book of Stones,” a world premiere choreographed by Christian Denice, and the Washington premiere of “Ramblin’ Suite” by Diane Coburn Bruning, Chamber Dance’s founding artistic director. Taylor Swift Tribute Band in Chevy Chase

Maybe you couldn’t get time off to travel to Europe to see the Eras Tour in person. Maybe you’re just looking for something to do on a Friday night. In either case, the Collection at Chevy Chase — the collection of shops and restaurants just across the D.C. line from Friendship Heights — is hosting a Taylor Swift Tribute Band, for everyone who wants to end their week by shaking it off. Getting there early? The nearby Clyde’s Chevy Chase has happy hour until 6 p.m., with $6 beers, $8 wine and cocktails, and discounted oysters. 6 to 7:30 p.m. Free .

Bats at the Byrd at Songbyrd Music House

The NoMa venue is replacing last year’s influx of Taylor-themed bashes with something a little more Gothic. This dance party is spinning dark-wave, industrial and post-punk, courtesy of aptly named DJs Vampyre Noire, Vlad and Sara Vox. 11 p.m. Free.

Raging Red at Shakers

Unleash some inner rage about that situationship or ghost at Shakers’s dance party dedicated to breakup songs. Expect new pop hits like Tate McRae’s “Exes” and Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” spun by award-winning DJ Alex Love, plus pop-up drag performances throughout the night. 10 p.m. Free.

Montgomery County Heritage Days Festival

More than 30 historic museums and parks across Montgomery County open to the public free this weekend as part of the 25-year-old Heritage Days Festival. The two-day celebration includes guided tours of the National Capital Trolley Museum, the Woodend Nature Sanctuary and a C&O Canal lock house; a bluegrass jam at the Sandy Spring Museum; a documentary screening and free carousel rides at Glen Echo Park; and farm animals and hands-on family activities at the Agricultural History Farm Park. A map and schedule are available on the Heritage Montgomery website and app. Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Free; some locations may charge extra for activities .

Arlington Pride at Long Bridge Park

The third Arlington Pride festival moves to Long Bridge Park for a day of music, drag performances, country and salsa dance lessons, vendors, food and drinks — even “Puppy Pride.” Noon to 7 p.m. Free .

SummerFest at Bohrer Park

Get an early start on your Independence Day celebrations with SummerFest at Gaithersburg’s Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. Miniature golf starts at 11 a.m., and the skate park opens at noon. The real action takes place later: The District — a party-pleasing band that covers Lizzo, Bruno Mars, the Killers and the Beatles — takes the stage at 6 p.m., while local craft breweries and cideries, including Waredaca and Lone Oak, and food trucks sell refreshments. (Picnics are also welcome.) Fireworks begin at about 9:20 p.m. and are followed by a SummerGlo party with more live music and entertainment from LED-lit Hula-Hoopers and stilt walkers. 6 to 11 p.m. Free .

New Balance Appreciation Day at Metrobar

Some people might consider New Balance to be dad shoes, but if you’re from the D.C. area, you know that the brand, known for its 990s and 995s, has been a staple of D.C. streetwear since the 1980s. Celebrate New Balance’s importance to locals at New Balance Appreciation Day at Metrobar. Killa Cal of Rare Essence is the host, and the centerpiece is a panel discussion with Anwan “Big G” Glover of Backyard Band, Mustafa Tariq of the throwback Instagram account DC Decades, and Brandon Bull of Beats, Bars and Bourbon discussing their memories of New Balance and its role in D.C.’s signature look. DJ Biggs provides the beats, Adrenaline Lifestyles brings hot cars and bikes, and food trucks including Who Want Smoke and KC Kitchen Plug serve up the grub. Chinatown Park Festival

The Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs organized this lunchtime festival in Chinatown Park, promising live music and dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, face painting, hands-on arts and crafts, a clothing swap, and other activities to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month. (This festival, originally scheduled for June 22, was postponed due to heat.) 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free .

Broadway in the Park at Wolf Trap

Signature Theatre and Wolf Trap join forces once again for Broadway in the Park, a night under the stars dedicated to tunes from beloved musicals both new and old. This year, Broadway stars Laura Benanti and Jordan Fisher grace the stage at the Filene Center along with performers familiar to Signature’s audiences. Expect to hear standards from “My Fair Lady,” “Cabaret,” “Pippin” and “Les Misérables” as well as newer smash hits like “Dear Evan Hansen” and “Hamilton.” 8 p.m. $33-$153 .

Pride in the Plaza at Veterans Plaza

Montgomery Pride wraps up a month of celebrations with Pride in the Plaza in Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza. The main event is the finals of Drag Duels, an ongoing competition that features drag performers going head-to-head and stacked-heel-to-stacked-heel. There’s also live music, DJs and a Pride Ball that allows talented dancers to strut their stuff. New this year: the Community Stage, which organizers say features diverse, family-friendly entertainment. Noon to 8 p.m. Free .

Books & Booze Fair at Red Derby

When the book fair came to your elementary school, it brought scented pencils, glow-in-the-dark erasers and the new Percy Jackson novel. When the book fair comes to Red Derby this weekend, it’ll bring spicy-smooth drinks from Chacho Distillery, conversation with book sellers, and rows of bestsellers and underrated must-reads from Lost City Books and Loyalty Bookstores. A ticket will get you a Chacho drink, but the full bar at Red Derby (which was recently voted by Post readers as one of the city’s best dives ) is also available. 6 to 9 p.m. $10.

Republic Cantina anniversary party

Tex-Mex joint Republic Cantina marks five years in Truxton Circle this weekend with a day-long party. Get an early start with breakfast tacos at 9 a.m. before the block party in the alley, which features Joe Neuman of Sloppy Mama’s BBQ and Rob Cain of the Red Hen serving as guest pitmasters. Human Country Jukebox and the swaggering Heaven Forbid provide classic country covers throughout the day. Look out for a piñata, birthday cake, a kolache happy hour — Republic Cantina’s owners got their start as Republic Kolache — and DJs spinning country vinyl. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Free .

Land Conservation Day at Hellbender Brewing Company

Casey Trees, a nonprofit that seeks to restore and protect Washington’s tree canopy, is teaming up for the second year with Hellbender Brewing Company for an afternoon dedicated to urban forests in the nation’s capital. Casey Trees holds a conservation easement on a patch of forest located near the brewery, and you’ll be able to tour this green space nicknamed “Hellbender Hill” during the event. Join a tour of Hellbender Hill at 2:30 or 4:30 p.m. to see the work — like invasive-vine pulling or cleanups — that’s being done as part of the land conservation program. Besides tree tours, the day will include food trucks, live music, raffles and a chance to hear from like-minded organizations. Hellbender’s taproom and the outside patio are open during the event, and a seasonal beer will be promoted in honor of Casey Trees. 2 to 7 p.m. Free; registration requested online .

‘Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity’ at Rock Creek Park Planetarium

Rock Creek Park Nature Center has so much to offer in the summer, including its own planetarium, where you can escape the heat with some virtual stargazing. The last Sunday in June is the last chance to take a simulated space flight to a supermassive black hole, courtesy of the film “Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity.” Narrated by actor Liam Neeson, the 30-minute presentation, aimed at audiences age 14 and up, is all about the science behind black holes. The planetarium’s domed screen will feature immersive animations of phenomena like star birth and death and the collision of giant galaxies. 4 p.m. Free .

‘Salute to Divas’ Drag Brunch at Surreal

Arlington Pride wraps up Sunday with the Salute to Divas Drag Brunch at Surreal in National Landing, hosted by Shi-Queeta Lee and featuring the 2024 Miss Arlington Pride Queenie Iman Glamazon. 11 a.m. $25 .

Country Night at Pitchers

The D.C. Rawhides support country dancing in the LGBTQ+ community by hosting parties with line dancing, partner dancing and dance lessons most Saturdays in Eastern Market’s North Hall. They’re spreading out this weekend and heading to Pitchers, too, where you can learn the Canadian Stomp line dance before open dancing. 4:30 to 7 p.m. Free .

Pride Art Market at Atlas Brew Works

The brewery’s Ivy City location is celebrating the last day of Pride Month with a makers market featuring works from LGBTQ+ artists. Masks are encouraged and will be provided. 1 to 7 p.m. Free.

Crate Convention at Anacostia Arts Center

Orville Peck at the Anthem

For the last few years, the yeehaw agenda has been in full effect. From Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Kacey Musgraves’s pop crossover to Beyoncé’s latest album and Post Malone’s latest transformation , musicians outside the mainstream of country music have taken cowboy culture for a ride and found comfort in the saddle. The rise of Orville Peck has come alongside this cultural shift, and the 36-year-old singer-songwriter — who performs under a pseudonym and wears a mask — is making country music that recalls outlaw traditions and has found fans in collaborators Willie Nelson, Elton John and Kylie Minogue. The artist, who is gay, also serves as a reminder that neither America nor Americana is as homogenized and heteronormative as it may seem. 7 p.m. $59.50.

Hiatus Kaiyote at the Fillmore Silver Spring

If you think you haven’t heard of this band, you’re probably wrong, especially if you listen to rap. The band has been countlessly sampled by various artists — most notably by rap superstars Kendrick and Drake. Hiatus Kaiyote’s maximalist sound lends itself well to being reused in a genre like hip-hop that’s always innovating how sampling works. Singer Nai Palm attributes the sampling to their attention to detail, referring to her and her bandmates as “nerds” when it comes to production. “Instead of just, ‘Oh, we’ll just put that down, it doesn’t matter,’ everything is perfectly curated textually,” Palm says. 8 p.m. $53-$72.50.

Vienna’s Independence Day Celebration

The town of Vienna’s annual party fills George C. Yeonas Park with a mix of live music — Latin American from Cantaré, pop and funk from Thunderball — as well as family activities, food trucks and picnicking on baseball fields. ‘National Treasure’ at the National Archives

Nicholas Cage’s 2004 action-adventure film “National Treasure” has a preposterous plot: stealing the Declaration of Independence from the National Archives to find a map on the back, leading to a secret treasure hidden by Freemasons? No wonder it’s become a cult classic. (At the time, Post reviewer Stephen Hunter called “National Treasure” “ the movie equivalent of comfort food .”) On the eve of Independence Day, what could be more appropriate than watching a film about the theft of the declaration at the place it was allegedly stolen from? The National Archives Foundation is the sponsor of this free screening in the William G. McGowan Theater. Just don’t get any big ideas on your way out. 2 p.m. Free; registration required .

Which Attractions & Museums in Washington, DC Require Tickets?

Many of Washington, DC's major attractions are open to the public and do not require tickets, including the Smithsonian museums , the  National Gallery of Art , and the monuments and memorials on the National Mall . Entry to the Smithsonian Zoo is free but requires an entry pass.

You can buy tickets for some of Washington, DC's most popular ticketed attractions including   Ford's Theatre at the venue or on their website. Some attractions offer discounts to those who buy tickets online ahead of their visit and you can also purchase 24 or 48-hour, hop-on, hop-off bus tour tickets with Big Bus Tours , which will allow you to view the wonders of the National Mall at your own convenience.

While some attractions are free, they require timed passes to save visitors from waiting in long lines. T imed passes are available to visit the  National Museum of African American History and Culture , and a limited amount of same-day passes are available online the day of your visit. The passes are printed featuring a one-hour time range, within which you may enter the museum.

Free timed-entry passes are required to visit the National Air and Space Museum . Entry times are hourly from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The museum releases individual passes for six-week periods at a time and is open every day except December 25 from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum also requires timed passes to enter the permanent exhibition from March through August. These are distributed daily beginning at 10 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis at the museum or online at  ushmm.org several months in advance. There are a limited number of same-day passes available online each day beginning at 6 a.m. A small service charge of $1 per ticket is charged for online bookings. You don’t need passes to visit the non-permanent museum exhibitions year-round or for the permanent exhibitions from September through February.

Admission is free for the Washington Monument but a timed ticket is required for entry. Timed tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis. One person may obtain up to six tickets as well as request their preferred ticket time. All visitors (including children ages 2+) must have a ticket to enter the Washington Monument.

Admission is free for the  Bureau of Printing and Engraving though tickets are required from March through August. These are distributed on the day of your visit, beginning at 8 a.m. until all tours for the day are full. Lines form early and, during peak season, tickets are often distributed by 9 a.m.

Tours of the White House are only available by advance arrangement through your member of Congress. Find your member of Congress and contact information here  and submit your request up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days prior to your visit. International visitors who want to visit the White House should contact their embassy in Washington, DC for assistance submitting a tour request. More information is available at whitehouse.gov .

Tickets are also required to tour the  U.S. Capitol . You can obtain tickets through your member of Congress or via visitthecapitol.gov . Some limited same-day tour passes may be available at the public walk-up line in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center .

While the  Library of Congress ,  Supreme Court , National Gallery of Art and Smithsonian museums do not require tickets, you may want to check schedules in advance to take advantage of guided interpretive tours, lectures, IMAX movies and other programs.

LIST | New DC, Maryland and Virginia laws taking effect July 2024

WASHINGTON (7News) — Starting July 1, residents of Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia will see a variety of new laws come into effect, bringing significant changes to minimum wage, traffic regulations, election procedures and even concert ticket sales.

Here's what you need to know about new laws taking effect across the DMV:

Minimum wage: The minimum wage in D.C. will increase from $17 per hour to $17.50 per hour for all workers. The minimum wage for tipped employees increases from $8 to $10 per hour as well.

Sale and resale of tickets: MD Senate Bill 539 would ban "speculative tickets" and would require all-inclusive ticket pricing from sellers, with an itemized list of charges, eliminating surprise fees.

Minimum wage: The minimum wage in Montgomery County goes up to $17.15 an hour. For small to mid-sized employers with a staff of 11-50, the rate will increase by 50 cents to $15.50 per hour.

Clean Indoor Air Act: The new law prohibits vaping in certain indoor areas and places of employment and certain mass transportation

New vehicle fees: The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) will implement the new fees and increase registration rates , with prices that could increase by up to 60-70 percent. Fees will also increase for electric vehicle owners, who'll have to pay a $250 biannual surcharge to offset the growing number of cars not paying the state's gas tax.

Alcohol delivery: New legislation allows establishing a local delivery service permit, allowing the delivery of alcoholic beverages from businesses authorized to sell them.

Opioids: New law requires the Virginia Board of Education to establish guidelines related to school-connected overdoses and parental notification.

Local authority for speed limits: Counties that do not maintain their roads, are allowed to reduce speed limits to less than 25 miles per hour, but not less than 15 miles per hour, in business or residential districts. Localities will also be allowed to restore a speed limit that was previously reduced.

Access to polling places: New legislation clarifies that individuals with a disability (not just a physical disability) can vote curbside. The new law will also require training for poll workers on disability access.

Vehicle insurance: VA SB951 would require all Virginia drivers to have vehicle insurance and insurgence companies will notify the DMV if you do not have auto insurance, resulting in a $600 fine and a license suspension.

Emissions inspections: New law increases the amount an emissions inspection program coordinator can be paid every year for each station from $3,500 to $5,000, and increases the maximum amount that may be charged for the emissions inspection fee from $28 to $30.

Child marriages: New law establishes the legal age of marriage to be 18 years of age and eliminates the ability for a minor to be declared emancipated based on the intent to marry.

Legacy admissions: The law stops public universities from giving preferential treatment to students who apply with family ties to the school.

Firearms: New legislation bans “auto sears,” which are devices that can convert a semiautomatic firearm into a fully automatic weapon that is able to rapidly fire a full magazine of bullets and another law prohibits the removal or alteration of serial numbers on any firearm, except antique firearms.

Historic preservation: The law provides for a 30-day delay before a permit may be issued to raze or demolish any structure that is a historic landmark, building or structure.

Roadkill Law: If you hit a turkey, bear, dear or an elk while driving, you can claim it as if you had killed it for the game. Just make sure to call the conservation police and have them examine it first.

Declawing cats: The practice of declawing cats becomes against the law , except for a necessary therapeutic purpose.
