Intercruises - Cruise Connect - Keele Services M6 Southbound | by Peter Steel

Intercruises - Cruise Connect - Keele Services M6 Southbound

First of all, apologies. this photo and the following photo are out of sequence with the previous photo. just getting to grips with new technology, for me anyway this photo, taken on 10/08/2019, shows these four coaches operating for intercruises taking intending cruise ship passengers to southampton for p&o cruises ships, azura and britannia. left to right, facing the camera, are; a la carte travel services, harrow, yn18sfe, an irizar i6s bodied scania k410 eb6. this smart scania was new in 07/2018 and was my transport heading for azura. to be honest and i now know there are photos on 'flikr', i'd never heard of this operator. the other three coaches are all from ellisons, st. helens, the regular operator for intercruises from scotland and the north west. second in line from the left is aig321, a van hool altano tdx21a. this was new in 04/2014 registered yd14gdy. it has also carried registration lot7e and is the former chelsea fc team coach, i believe. next is yn15yte, a tri-axle irizar i6, new in 04/2015 and on the far right is yt19kun, a 14m tri-axle irizar i6s. this was only a couple of weeks old when seen here. © peter steel 2019..

Patrick Hamilton has been a great…

Patrick Hamilton has been a great personality on my trip with the Intercruise Coach to Southampton for a P&O Azura trip! A confident driver, Patrick has kept us smiling with his humerous remarks :) The coach has been diverted but he is in control of the situation and has kept us all informed throughout.

We were told that it would be a luxury coach transfer from Bradford to Southampton, anything but it was old and tired, no charging points no WiFi, we had to ask the driver to put some heating on as it was freezing, this he did, then it was boiling. The return journey was just as bad, had to wait 90 minutes for 4 passengers to disembark, to be then told the toilet was broken, only 1, 30 minutes stop & 1, 15 minutes stop, the only good thing about it were the drivers, £116 each, in future will be going with National Express

Excellent Company for cruise transport

We have used Intercruise on at least 6 occasions. Each time we have had an excellent experience. Friendly, helpful drivers. Clean, modern comfortable coaches. Also helpful if you ring their office.Thank you.

Ridiculously poor customer service.

On the phone right now for the third time. First time, midway through asking to book was put on hold without warning or explanation in total silence. Second call, got as far as being asked my booking reference number, then disconnected. Still on hold awaiting third time. This is truly awful customer service. I suspect they have some warped KPIs for productivity that mean staff resort to this ridiculous behaviour. Sort it out.

Date of experience : 12 February 2024

Poor customer service for refund.

Took ages to contact them by phone and emails to cancel coach service due to cruise cancellation. Told that it will take 2 weeks for refund to my credit card. Not sure if the person was up to speed. Very poor customer service. Will not use again.

Been trying to book my coach transfer with cruise connect all morning, waiting ages to get through then get through to someone and they put you on hold and hang up! Shocking customer service. Will try again tomorrow not wasting anymore of my time.

The journey from Hull to Southampton…

The journey from Hull to Southampton was the best ever two drivers a couple of decent stops The return journey no toilet from the off. Full of urine and faeces I pointed out to driver The driver had a one stop policy for a journey of 7 hours he drove in socks took his shoes off banged on the side of the coach cursing other motorists and the driving speed of some certainly not a professional and offered no help to his passenger he just wanted to get home and finish early

Many thanks Leons coaches and Max

Yesterday, Friday 4th August 2023 we had the pleasure of being collected from Southampton by a Leon’s coach and driver. Our Driver Max was excellent in every aspect. Despite a long journey due to heavy traffic he conveyed us safely to our final drop off point. Throughput the journey we felt safe and comfortable with Max keeping us updated on journey progress. Many thanks to Max and Leon’s.

Our holiday was 1st July 2023

Our holiday was 1st July 2023, booked intercruises coach, from Leicester to Southampton return journey. Both journeys were prompt, nice friendly driver , kept us up to date with traffic ,arrival times etc. Both coaches were extremely lovely and comfortable , couldn't fault

8th-15th July

To be honest after reading many reviews on here we were dreading the bus journey's to and from Southampton. No need, we were picked up and a week later dropped off at Trowell services our drivers on both journey's were friendly, courteous, kept us informed, buses were comfortable, clean, didn't use toilet so can't comment on that! Would not hesitate to use this service again.

Horrendous coach journey

Horrendous coach journey. No air conditioning on extremely hot day. Weather warnings given advising danger to health. Passenger health and safety put in danger. Long journey and needed to transfer coaches. Not much better on second coach! Never again Intercruises!!!! P&O need to know how badly you treat their customers. Passengers told (on the day … 10th June) that they couldn’t talk to a supervisor or anyone in charge because there was no one there! Really!!!! Incidentally, our young coach driver did everything he could and needs a medal! Alan Shepherd

Poor return journey

We arrived back at Chester almost two hours late mainly due to the drivers (two for a six hour journey), more interested in stopping for more than was necessary than getting back on time. There were delays on the motorway but the drivers made little attempt to get us back in a reasonable time.We were dropped off in an unlit part of the parking area on a freezing night and people were struggling to find their cases.

Absolutely atrocious service

Absolutely atrocious service. Needed to get in contact with them as the booking online wasn’t going through. Rung them up and waited 1 hour 50 minutes for them to pick up the phone and immediately hang up. P&O need to work with a different coach company like eavesway (who I’ve now booked with and have a much better reputation). Would avoid at all costs based on the numerous amount of negative reviews.

Are they still operating?

Phone line rings unobtainable during listed office hours although "office closed" voicemail kicks in after hours. Have emailed them 3 times to enquire if they have a service on 10NOV23 to Southampton for Princess Cruise but no reply. Have since found a service with Eavesway with whom, whilst not potentially as convenient, I am about to book. Having just seen the reviews on Trustpilot this seems a wise decision. If their service is non existent when trying to do business with them I certainly do not want the worry that this extends to the operation of a bus service on the day.

Ridiculous pick-up points

We travelled from Norwich to Southampton on 2nd June and returned on 9th June from a Fjord cruise on Britannia. No complaints about the booking service or the coaches but the journeys were awful. We understood that pick-ups were from service areas so we accepted that our pick- up would be from Thickthorn service area, a £22 taxi trip from our home. However, it seems that in other places the company was quite happy to go into towns. We collected passengers from Newmarket, Cambridge, Rickmansworth, Letchworth …….each stop was in the town centre which meant leaving motorways and negotiating appalling traffic. The last pick-up was Heathrow , Marriott Hotel. Both journeys took the same time, 7hrs 45 mins. My advice…….think very carefully before you book this service. At least be prepared for a very unnecessarily long journey.

Dont really know where to start

Dont really know where to start. Would never use this company again. Our journey from Southampton to Liverpool took almost 10 hours. Totally unacceptable. Coach was dirty and toilets unusable. Driver was falling asleep and asked for a replacement driver which consequently resulted in being stuck in the service station for almost 3 hours. Rang Intercruises today but immediately cut off when I gave the nature of my call. Avoid this company at all costs! Feel so annoyed with the whole experience considering contacting Transport Health & Safety as this was a dangerous situation for all passengers on this coach.

Date of experience : 01 April 2023

Disgusted that this company wont pick up the phone

Like many other travelers, I too have been on the phone trying to get through to this company to book my seats to Southampton P&O say they cant do anything, travel agent says the same Association with this company is doing P&O Cruises no good at all. I will seriously consider using them from Southampton if this is the best they can offer I am truly sick and tired of hearing companies who wont pick up the phone tell me they are short of staff - not good enough!!!"!

Date of experience : 09 May 2023

Dreadful company

What is going on with this company?? I’ve tried patiently for over a fortnight to contact them at various times throughout the day without success. I’ve hung on the phone for up to 30 minutes (I know some people have waited longer) which I find totally unacceptable (even if they are short staffed) and then given up. Out of decency to customers I think they could at least change their telephone message to explain the delays and get rid of that dreadful music. I was advised by my travel provider to contact them via email, but that has also gone unanswered. Is there actually anybody working there??

Date of experience : 10 May 2023

Luxury coaches these are not!

Return trip North Wales to Southampton, luxury coaches these are not! Poor seats, little legroom, inoperable seat belts, no music no Wi-Fi. One stop in a 6.5 hr journey is unacceptable. Drivers with no personality and nothing in the way of journey updates. Never again!

Been trying to contact cruise connect…

Been trying to contact cruise connect but after numerous emails and telephone calls can still not resolved my issue. I made a mistake on the online booking form and cannot cancel or rebook. All you get on the telephone is jazz music and then get cut off, shocking customer care service.

Cruise connect v Independent coach

Cool Cruiser

Contemplating our first Southampton cruise. Both CC [via P&O] and Independent leave from Bolton at different pickup points,

is there any pro's and con's with using either company.

Have you thought of ' Eavesway Coaches ' ?.

Like you we live a fair distance and we have used them several times, they are super luxury coaches, wi-fi etc. They have good pickups ( we are in Leeds ).. Never had any issues..they take care of your luggage at the docks as well...

worth you looking up on the net anyway, just to compare..

Hope you get lots of replies so you can compare...but each to his own of course..

Lesanne

when  I was looking to go by coach I found Eavesway to be the same price as Cruise Connect. Our preference is to use Eavesway as the 2 times we have had a return coach to Manchester after transatlantic the coaches were not as good, no wifi. We have booked Eavesway pick up in Bolton.

P&O have an official coach company which changes occasionally as the years go by.  As far as I can make out if you are not on the current one you are only treated slightly less favourably insofar as disembarkation times are earlier for their official brand.  Only half an hour in it. Not sure about embarkation but think all coaches get dealt with on arrival at the terminal.

I should think the most convenient coach based on price pickup points and timetable is the best one for most people.

Regards John

Eavesway tend to be a few pounds cheaper and sometimes set off for Southampton earlier (advantages in my opinion) However sometimes because a higher proportion of passengers use the official cruise connect company, it sometimes means more pick ups and drop offs. Also with the late departure of Britannia this evening, I understand that coach passengers travelling on the official cruise coach were taken to Beaulieu until they were able to board(and presumably fed and watered) though I,m not sure whether Eavesway passengers were able to do this or not.Personally I would pick the coach with the most convenient pick up point but if both coaches picked up from the same place, I would opt for the cruise connect company that P and O has the contract with.

My wife and I are booked on P&O Arvia in October 2023, out from Southampton, fly back to Manchester

I am now tearing out what little hair I have left trying to contact the coach company to confirm my 'Complimentary' transfer to Southampton

I have called 'CRUISE CONNECT' 110 times so far and spent over 4.5 hours in the queue in total, which in itself is a disgrace. Mostly nobody answers, often its an engaged tone, many times I have sat on the phone for ages, only to be cut off. Just twice I have heard someone say "Hello" but the line then goes dead. In addition, I have completed their contact form twice, of course no replies!

P&O aren't replying, IGLU who sold me the cruise don't want to know, this company ( Cruise Connect/Intercruises) might as well not be there for what use they have been

I am so cheesed off and wishing I hadn't booked it, but know that it would cost me dearly to cancel

Anyone had similar problems or have any suggestions??

Are they on Facebook or Twitter?

' class=

Thanks for your input. I think the wait and see is the favourable option

I think you're right that there's no rush at the moment. I'd have given FB and Twitter a go if they were active there but if they aren't then I wouldn't be jumping through hoops at this stage.

' class=

Well clearly this is a wider problem

All I can think of now is to forget about it for a few weeks and try again

I have complained to everyone I can think of and at this stage apart from continuing to listen to their atrocious saxophone wait music, I cant think of anything else to do

Good luck DaveO you are closer to sailing than us!!

' class=

Having the same problem listen to music for 15-20 minutes then get cut off. Not able to book on line because they charge you full price. They have always been hard to get hold of, but there is no excuse for such bad company service. It is also a bad reflection on P&O who should be trying to sort this out

I rang today first time got cut off ,then called again 25 mins wait guy answered and confirmed my booking .

Hi same here ,I've emailed them but don't know if that has gone through, I have used them last year and managed to book the coach ,I've rang for ages recently and no reply !

As I understand it, it could be anyone. Cruise Connect have got the contract to supply passenger coaching services to P&O, Cunard and Princess without actually having any coaches. Their business model is that they will subcontract with actual coach companies to provide the service. From what I've read they aren't signing a national contract, they are going to seek cost-effective regional solutions (or even local ones).

I think it will be interesting to see how this works out.

Contracting out never improves services. It will result in a totally varied experience dependant on the coach company on your route.

We went with Cruise Connect when we were on a Cunard Cruise and after being used to Eavesway were disappointed. The coach down to Southampton was the oldest coach that I have ever been on and we were concerned that we would not get to Southampton before the coach gave up. It was so bad that we have now taken OBC instead of free coach travel and used the OBC to pay for the trip on Eavesway for our next 2 cruises.

We are travelling down to Southhampton with cruise connect in June and read a lot of bad reports . Already disappointed as went with eavesway last year in their luxury coach and felt totally spoilt ! Any readers have any comments to make - either good or bad . Thanks

Oh dear don't sound good ! Well were using them on the 3rd of May to connect with azura

You'll have to let us know how you found them ok . We go on June 15 to join Azura !

These coaches are no help to us. We live in the county town of Buckinghamshire and yet the closest pick up point is over an hours drive away.

Also applies to National Express coaches. Why are we forgotten where connections are concerned.

We have to get the train to London then on to Southampton or wherever our destination is.

We have a similar problem, and we live in Sheffield. Coaches pick up at Woodall services on the M1. Those services in the middle of nowhere, and there's no public transport to them.

I did write to someone at Intercruises (who are the company behind Cruise Connect) to ask if they had any plans to use somewhere handier for us e.g. the Meadowhall Interchange - only just off the M1 and with good links to the rest of Sheffield - but their reply was "no, sorry".

In fact I've just spotted something in that reply that I hadn't noticed before. It's this: "We can only operate pick-ups as specified by the cruise operator."

So that suggests that the pickup points are determined by P&O (in this instance) and not by the coach operator.

Eavesway have a pick up at Cherwell Services which is 12miles from Buckingham if that is of any help.

Denarius

I have used Eavesway for 20 years when sailing with P&O & will continue to use them as long as they provide a service. It was bad news when P&O dropped them, I suspect to save money. They still pick up at the main town centre bus station whereas the newcomers pick up several miles away. The only good to come out of it is that they now provide connecting services for other lines.

I feel exactly the same. The only reason that we used Cruise Connect for our first Cunard cruise was because it was part of the Cunard deal at the time since then we have driven down to Southampton for a Cunard cruise because we wouldn't travel with Cruise Connect and Eavesway were not doing Cunard at that time. We will be using Eavesway for P&O and Cunard cruise now as they are 100% better than Cruise Connect in terms of comfort and customer service in my opinion.

Got are e-tickets through this morning for are coach transfer no mention of which company is being used estimated travel time of 6hrs 15 min from Chester

That seems a very long journey ! What time are u being picked up and what time they say you can board. ? We left at 8:45 last year and was on ship by 2:30 with 2 comfort stops of 20 mins and 45 mins !

Yeah dose seem long time I did the same journey on a weeday morning the week before Christmas last year in 4 hrs and that was including around 35 mins at Warwick services says we get picked up from Chester at 7:45 am and got a ETA in Southampton on 14:00

Eavesway times are depart Chester 0745, arrive 1400 so the same time

http://www.eaveswaytravel.com/po-princess-cunard.asp

Oh right ok.. This is only are second cruise and the first one was a fly cruise from Barbados so was just looking to see what the standard of coach would be like so can't compare it to the old eaveway service

  • 3 weeks later...

Well were on are way at last down to Southampton intercruises seem to be using holmswood coaches for today's p&o and princess cruises from the north west and north wales area. Not bad coaches just lacking a bit in the leg room department I would say about 26-28 inches of leg room not good for someone who is 6ft 3.

Still time to change to Eavesway

went to the Eavesway site and was redirected to cruise connect

Travelling from Liverpool Centre (Nat express Coach Station) so here's hoping:)

Hi Sunnybrian

That doesn't seem good business for Eavesway.

Just had a look at their web site and there was no mention of a re direct that I could see. It all looks straight forward to book with Eavesway.

We have always booked by telephone with Eavesway and will continue to do so in the future.

Ihave gone through it again and realised what I did!!

I hit the cruise connect button.

Oh well let's see if it is Eavesway as they do show a pickup at 07:45 from Liverpool Norton st.

We booked one-way tickets on the Eavesway website without any problems at all, but we were paying for our own journey and not using the free coach travel option from P&O.

I was wondering what the implications might be if you where to travel by "an independant coach company" and it broke down?

I believe that cruise connect would hold the ship until you you arrive if that happened though May be wrong!:)

Mrs Moho

Ihave gone through it again and realised what I did!! I hit the cruise connect button. Oh well let's see if it is Eavesway as they do show a pickup at 07:45 from Liverpool Norton st. Regards Brian

We've booked direct with Eavesway as it seems Cruise Connect out source their coaches. We're on the 7.45 from Norton St. There is a Princess & Royal Caribbean leaving Southampton the same day as us so plenty of traffic heading that way.

Don't want to think of any breakdowns  but I think Eavesway are well covered for any 'problems' judging by their excellent feedback and the number of recommendations we have been given. We usually drive to Southampton, stay in a hotel that includes parking - thought we would try Evesway this time and enjoy a drink on our last night of the cruise :D

Posted April 13, 2014. tom_uk said: As I understand it, it could be anyone. Cruise Connect have got the contract to supply passenger coaching services to P&O, Cunard and Princess without actually having any coaches. Their business model is that they will subcontract with actual coach companies to provide the service.
