Booked a tour to Israel earlier this year for January 2024 (March timeframe). Paid in full. Then the war broke out in Israel. My group decided to postpone the trip until next year. I decided to just cancel, and rebook later. I requested a refund on November 1st. According to EO, it takes "6 to 8 weeks" to process the refund. Contacted the one email address they provided multiple times to request the status of my refund to hear the same thing "6 to 8 weeks." Which, really, is unbelievable considering there is a war on and they (EO) were going to be forced to cancel trips to Israel anyway. So here I am on week 7 of waiting (while EO has had my full payment since April or May) and EO says "It looks like our accounting department has started working on it" and it would be 1-2 more weeks..... I hope EO put my money to good use while they had it, goodness knows I sure could have used it back quicker than this. They may provide a good tour, I don't know. But their customer service and accounting departments leave a lot to be desired. Will NEVER consider travelling with them.

Photo of Joyce S.

Due to the situation in Israel our church group tour to the HolyLands was first postponed one year then cancelled. EO held $215 per person as a cancellation fee ( rather than $100 which is what we were originally told). Additionally the refund will take 4-6 weeks! EO was not cooperative and their representatives apparently not well trained in dealing with the details of the situation. I won't travel with them again.

Photo of Marsha L.

Booked a tour to Israel with them and of course had to cancel. They then changed the trip completly and WILL NOT REFUND the entire amount of the trip. I wish I had never heard of this company DO NOT use them you will be scammed out of money.

Photo of Joy G.

Excellent attention to detail bar none the absolute best. They care about leaving pilgrims that tour with them with the experience that they care for your welfare from the start of your trip to the end! Mark Boston, Mr. Ridgeway and staff are top notch at what they do. They demonstrate their real 50 years plus travel experience in the way they start your tour until the very end to include surveys. They are the best I. The touring business. Please be careful with those companies that say they have experience; read their reviews in all places. Yelp should give them an honorable mention simply with the way people express their experiences.

Joy, thank you for giving us a five-star review and taking the time to update your previous review. We hope to see you on a journey soon!

Boy was I misled about the finest company to join if interested in traveling abroad. I was clearly mistaken about what was #1 priority and EO is definitely the company that care and takes care of each pilgrim with finesse. No other company demonstrates with actual action and true and good will and good intentions like EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES tour co.

I cannot even give this company a one star. Office staff is undergoing large turnover so the staff is short and curt about helping. You can see teeth gritting from anger or condescending tone over the phone. Any church or religious establishment that wants to consider this company should be aware that they care up to the point until you give your money and then after that your experience will go south; with company employees or volunteers over in this area to visit have nothing to offer other than that they regret any inconvenience but they cannot help. The head of company does not take responsibility for situations that are "beyond his control ", tell me who wants to place their hard earned money where even the head person cannot fix what was supposed to be set in place from the start. Excuse after excuses are all that I heard. Nope not taking this family for their money ever again.. company manager please don't even send a regret of our experience I know you're paid to say anything and no you could never write me to make it right not even if you paid us to return.

Photo of Sherri S.

This company is only good for church groups. please don't book as individuals. any positive review you see will be from a pastor or someone directly connected with one. after purchasing insurance, we were denied any refund when my elderly father fell I'll. we even had doctor's notes. in addition, one in our party (the other elderly) has since passed away. we were issued vouchers but no refund or transfer of voucher for the person who passed. SO, my father and I used our vouchers so that at least $22,000 of the $42,0000 that we had spent would not go to waste. To say that the trip was a disaster is an understatement. the speaker cancelled, we were never notified and my father was not up to the trip. we had to disembark in Quebec because he kept falling. it is impossible to get in touch with anyone at EO and they will ignore your e mails. only the preachers like this company...their trips are free. please do NOT book with this company

Photo of Ralph C.

Don't know where to begin. Can one leave "negative" stars? Every poor review you read here is accurate. Better yet, visit the Better Business Bureau posts---those will also give you a very accurate snapshot-- every complaint there receives not an apologetic response, but a defensive and at times, completely unsympathetic response from EO. Signing up is great--but once you have paid, "ghosting" is common business practice here. Unorganized, unsympathetic, non-communative, defensive and aside from one or two staff-- quite unprofessional. Do all of these traits align with a company that promotes itself as a "Christian" tour operator? Traveled with a few friends, and we basically all agreed we would never use EO again. If they do not turn their ship around, I suspect they will be out of business within a year....

Photo of William L.

if you are looking for a tour company that helps when things go wrong, this is not the one. they are good at taking your money but not customer service. be sure to book your own flight. they wait until 8 days out to book flights. no opportunity for seat upgrades at that point. we asked months ahead about seat upgrades and assured we would have them if requested. I followed up weekly. no response until after the seats were booked and then no response from EO after that. they also will not help with lost bags or rebooking of flights.

Photo of Susan M.

Horrible customer service. My in laws used this agency to travel from the US to Holy Land, and their flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Not the agencies fault but of course their flight route was changed and their luggage was lost for a week. They were sent to Jerusalem via Germany and had NO luggage other than what they were wearing. It was SNOWING on the ground in Germany, and while there overnight, my MIL only had FLIP FLOPS and a cardigan! Fast forward, they finally arrive to Jerusalem and the luggage comes a week later. ALL my in laws need from EO Tours is a simple statement proving when they delivered the luggage for their insurance claim and EO won't provide that to them. All of the agents and customer service reps ignore their requests, and some even go as far to deny them by saying no! What kind of nonsense is that?! Your responsibility to paying customers doesn't end once they return if something like this happens. They paid for a hassle-free service and your company has RUINED this unique, Holy, and beautiful experience and turned it into a headache and a nightmare. Please do better and provide them with the statement they need to close this chapter. You know, people work really HARD for their money and when paying for a service it'd be nice to receive kindness and professionalism. However, Educational Opportunities has done none of that. Stop with the hassle! I will never approve my senior in-laws, or anyone for that matter, to use you all again. -1 out of 5 stars. BEWARE of this agency! If something where to go wrong, out of your hands, they will literally leave you stranded, alone, and without the resources you need to make things right and be comfortable! A legit shame. UPDATE: they made it right. And gave us the letter.

Photo of David B.

This company has very poor customer service. I will not use them again for my future group tours.

Photo of Marisol L.

Our group received the final itinerary 2 calendar says before departure. One group missed their initial flight because of mechanical problems and they could not re-arrange the schedule to minimize the loss of tours and activities. The final itinerary was incorrect and was only after personally checking with the airline that found out my itinerary had changed. Was never notified by the agency and neither did the other 26 persons in the group. Tours and activities were good but travel was not good.

Daniel of Moscow (prince)

The holy and right-believing Daniel of Moscow was the Grand Prince of Moscow, son of the holy and right-believing Alexander Nevsky . Being the youngest son, he inherited the poor principality of Moscow that through his adroit and peaceful handling of the princely internecine warfare developed into the capital of a united Russian land. He founded the first monastery , St. Daniel Monastery , in Moscow, at the Church of St. Daniel the Stylite. He is remembered on March 17 ( March 4 ) and September 12 ( August 30 ).

Daniel was the youngest son of the sainted Prince Alexander Nevsky, the Grand Prince of Vladimir, and the righteous Princess Vassa. He was born in 1261 in Vladimir-on-Klyazama, the capital of the principality of Great Vladimir. Two years later his father, the Prince Alexander, died, leaving him the inheritance, in 1272, of the principality of Moscow, which was poor in comparison with the principalities inherited by his older brothers.

Over the next decades, Daniel, as reported in the chronicles, ruled in a manner encouraging peace, piety, and kindness in the face of surviving under the severe Tatar domination and internecine warfare among the Russian princes. In the thirty years of his rule, Daniel participated only once in combat. That occasion was when Constantine, the Prince of Ryazan, moved to capture Moscow with Tatar help. Near Pereyaslavl, Daniel defeated and captured Constantine. Before the armistice was signed Daniel treated Constantine with hospitality. In 1296, he won the title of Grand Prince of all Russian lands. Soon, his principality included the territory of Pereyaslavl and Zalessky lands. In the thirty years of his rule, Moscow became the most important and powerful Russian principality foreshadowing the unity of the land of the Russians.

Daniel developed great respect and popularity among the Russian people of his principality through his manner of meekness, humility, and peacefulness while taking care of both the populace and the city.

About 1282, Daniel established the first monastery in the city at a site about five miles from the Kremlin at the location of the wooden church of St. Daniel-Stylite. This site became the Monastery of St. Daniel .

In March 1303, Prince Daniel died at the age of 42. Before he died he had become a monk and specified in his will that he be buried in the cemetery of the monastery. Many miracles, including healing people, have occurred over his grave.

During the seventeenth century his miracle -working relics were found, following which he was glorified by the Church of Russia , establishing March 17 and September 12 as the dates he is remembered. Through the years St. Daniel became among the most popular of the Russian saints.

During the troubled times of Soviet rule in the early twentieth century, St. Daniel's relics were lost during destruction at the monastery, as graves of people were moved to other places and the necropolis of the monastery was destroyed. In 1986, part of the relics of St. Daniel were returned to the revived Monastery of St, Daniel by Metropolitan Theodosius of Washington that was being rebuilt after return by the Soviet government.

On the eve of the 850th year commemoration of Moscow, a monument was placed and sanctified on September 4 , 1997, on Tylskaya Square in Moscow in memory of St. Daniel. The following March 17 a chapel was dedicated on Tylskaya Square to St Daniel.
