Imagine traversing through the luscious jungle on an elephant's back, exploring the ancient ruins of forgotten empires, diving into crystal-clear turquoise waters teeming with marine life, or simply enjoying the vibrant nightlife in some of the most modern cities in the world. Why Use a Travel Agency for Your Thailand Trip?
In this digital age, planning a trip to a foreign country could be as simple as a few clicks. But would you risk missing out on hidden gems and cultural nuances? By partnering with a trusted travel agency , you're ensuring that your Thailand trip is tailor-made to your preferences, ensuring that you get the most out of your travel experience.
Understanding Travel Agencies
Travel agencies are the unsung heroes of the tourism industry. They handle everything from flight and hotel bookings to providing itineraries, ensuring that travelers have a seamless and enjoyable journey.
What Does a Travel Agency Do?
A travel agency takes the stress out of travel planning. Their job isn't just about booking flights and accommodation. They listen to your needs, advise on the best travel times, provide local insights, and design tailor-made itineraries that suit your preferences. They handle the nitty-gritty details so you can focus on enjoying your trip.
Picture this – you're in Chiang Mai, known for its elephant sanctuaries. Instead of visiting a typical touristy elephant park, your travel agent, with their local knowledge, arranges a visit to an ethical sanctuary where you can feed, bathe, and spend quality time with these magnificent creatures, contributing positively to animal welfare. That's the personalized touch a travel agency can bring to your trip.
Benefits of Using Travel Agencies for International Travel
Using a travel agency, especially for international travel, offers numerous benefits. First, they save you time and stress. Navigating through hundreds of hotel reviews and trying to find the best deals can be overwhelming. Travel agencies have the expertise and resources to do that efficiently.
Second, travel agencies have insider information and connections that most individuals do not. They can get you better deals, exclusive access to experiences, and help with any travel issues that arise.
And finally, travel agencies provide a safety net. In case of unforeseen circumstances such as flight cancellations or health emergencies, they will be there to provide support and solutions.

12 Exotic Best Beaches in Thailand
By: Author Hannah
Posted on Last updated: 7 March, 2024
Without a doubt, Thailand has some of the most beautiful, incredible beaches in the world. An iconic Thailand beach consists of turquoise waters, white sand, and usually longtail boats along the shore. Pure paradise!
There’s definitely a great mix of popular tourist beaches and secluded, off the beaten path beaches all over Thailand. You can find a private beach to relax at during the day but also find a beachfront hosting a wild Thailand island party at night.
With over 2,000 miles of coastline and over 8,000 islands to choose from, finding the best beach for your trip can be overwhelming. We’ve rounded up the best beaches in Thailand to help narrow down your choices!
1. Sunrise Beach (Koh Lipe)
Situated next to the Malaysian border is Koh Lipe , a small, charming island in the Andaman Sea. With only 800 residents on the island, Koh Lipe is the perfect place to escape the crowds of tourists to enjoy a weekend of pure relaxation.
Although Koh Lipe is home to several beaches , Sunrise Beach is the most picturesque. The long stretch of white sand is the perfect setting for watching the sunrise or sunset. You’ll find colorful patches of coral in the shallow waters, which provide shade and coverage for marine life.
The waters are ideal for swimming. It’s also a prime destination for snorkeling, which can be done right offshore; try to spot the tiny orange clownfish hiding among the corals! We suggest staying at Ten Moons Resort right on Sunrise Beach.

2. Nangyuan Island Beach (Koh Tao)
Koh Tao is known for its lush, tropical atmosphere, along with an abundance of marine and sea life. While there are plenty of relaxing beaches on the island to choose from, a short taxi boat ride from Sairee Beach will drop you off at one of the most beautiful places in Thailand.
Nangyuan Island Beach is just a 15-minute ride from the main island of Koh Tao. This little slice of paradise has a breathtaking lookout of the surrounding cobalt blue waters. The short but steep hike takes roughly 10 minutes and is definitely a highlight of visiting Nangyuan Island Beach.
If you bring your own snorkel equipment, you’ll be able to see the underwater Japanese Garden. Here, you’ll see a variety of fish and colorful coral just a few feet away from the sandy beach. Nangyuan Island Beach also has a few bars and cafes for when you get hungry, so feel free to spend an entire day on this glorious island.
3. Railay Beach (Krabi)
Visitors spending time in Krabi will not want to miss a trip to one of the most famous attractions in Thailand. Railay Beach may not be a secluded island, but due to the towering limestone cliffs, it’s only accessible by boat.
Once you arrive on land, you’ll enter a world that seems miles away from the big cities. Between the towering limestone rocks and colorful longboats bobbing in the turquoise lagoons, the landscape at Railay Beach is quintessential Thailand. Due to its picture-perfect setting, the beach is very popular with tourists and day visitors, so don’t go expecting to find peace and quiet.
However, you’ll still be able to enjoy one of the four main beaches on the peninsula. Catering to rock climbers, backpackers, and upscale travelers, Railay Beach has everything you need for a tropical vacation.
4. The Beach (Koh Phi Phi)
Made famous by Danny Boyle’s 2000 blockbuster, The Beach (starring Leonardo DiCaprio), Maya Bay has attracted visitors from all over the world. As you enter the secluded inlet, you’ll be surrounded by lush green foliage, protruding limestone cliffs, and crystal clear waters. It’s no wonder Maya Beach was chosen as the location for paradise in the movie! It is one of the best things to do in Koh Phi Phi , hands down.
Despite its popularity amongst tourists, Maya Beach was shut down to the public in 2018. After suffering unfathomable ecological damage, the Thai Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conversation declared the beach to be in a state of emergency. Rehabilitation efforts are now taking place in order to save the coral and surrounding ecosystems.
Maya Beach is now open for tourists as of January 1, 2022. Now, you’re able to hire a longboat to visit this famous spot. You’ll be able to swim in the shallow waters, hike through the dense jungle, and photograph the picturesque surroundings. Until then, you’ll just need to watch the movie to enjoy the beauty of Maya Bay!
5. Khuk Khak Beach (Khao Lak)
As one of the most isolated beaches on this list, Khuk Khak Beach is a place where you can truly immerse yourself in Thai culture. Situated between Bang Niang and Pakarang Cape, Khuk Khak Beach is lined with swaying palm trees and dense pine forests. Once you find your way to this hidden beach, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy its laid-back atmosphere.
The beach is over three miles long, and there are a few luxury resorts in the area. However, you’re better off finding a local beachside cafe for lunch or afternoon drinks for a more authentic feel. After spending the day walking the long stretch of beach, there’s nothing more relaxing than watching the sunset with a cold beer or tropical cocktail in your hand!
6. Koh Khai Beach (Koh Khai)
A 30-minute ride from Phuket takes you to the pristine island of Koh Khai Nok. Despite its proximity to the city, this beach is often overlooked by livelier and more tourist beaches around the area. However, this hidden gem is one of the best islands to visit in Thailand.
Besides the warm waters and sugar sand beaches, Koh Khai Beach is known for its diverse tropical sea life. Best of all, the fish aren’t scared of humans, which means you can get very close to them in the water. You don’t need snorkel equipment to admire the variety of fish, as many of them can be spotted in the shallow waters from shore.
Unlike other beaches in Thailand, Koh Khai Beach has a vibrant market in the middle of the sand. With dozens of stalls and shops, you can do all your souvenir shopping without ever leaving the beach.
7. Maehaad Beach (Koh Phangan)
Maehaad Beach is possibly one of the most popular beaches on Koh Phangan , and for good reason. Not only are you surrounded by coconut palms and emerald green waters, but you’ll also find a variety of fun and entertaining activities.
You can get a beachfront massage, kayak around the island, or swing on a hammock. There are plenty of tourists and locals sunbathing and basking in the warmth of the sun.
One of the best things to do in Koh Phangan and on Maehaad Beach is to walk to the neighboring island of Koh Ma. During low tide, there’s a narrow sand bar that connects the two islands. Being able to walk through the shallow ocean is one of the coolest things you can do in Thailand!
8. Mu Ko Ang Thong Marine National Park
Outdoor lovers cannot miss a visit to Mu Ko Ang Thong Marine National Park. Covering a sprawling 97-square-mile radius, the park has over 40 different islands to explore.
With hundreds of tour options, there are several different ways to visit Mu Ko Ang Thong Marine National Park. From private sailing cruises to guided kayak trips, you can really customize how you want to spend time in this natural wonderland.
Soak in the panoramic views of Emerald Lake, hike through the remarkable Wa Tab Lab Island, and snorkel through the schools of fish and sea cucumbers.
Although a day trip is enough time to see the park’s major sites, there is still plenty to explore if you choose to stay longer. If you want to spend a few days in Mu Ko Ang Thong Marine National Park, you can camp overnight in one of the tented sites or bungalows on the islands. You’ll have the opportunity to wake up at sunrise and see the islands before the tour groups arrive!
9. Klong Prao Beach (Koh Chang)
If you’re looking for a calm beach, then look no further than Klong Prao Beach. Located on Koh Chang, this charming spot is the definition of tranquility. As one of the quietest beaches in Thailand, you can enjoy a lazy afternoon or evening sunbathing or swimming in the water.
However, you’re still close to several restaurants and cafes, where you can pause for a quick lunch break during the day. Besides being situated next to several delicious beachside restaurants, Klong Prao Beach has a variety of shops and massage parlors close by as well.
Klong Prao Beach is also widely considered to be the best location for watching the sunset on Koh Chang.
10. Koh Lanta Ta Nod Beach (Koh Lanta)
Nestled off the coast of Krabi is Koh Lanta, which many visitors believe to be one of Thailand’s most beautiful islands. With miles of coastline and dozens of beaches to choose from, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more tropical destination than Koh Lanta .
Ta Nod Beach is one of the most remote beaches on the island. As part of the Mu Ko Lanta Yai National Park, Ta Nod Beach is as isolated as you can get in Koh Lanta. The idyllic sandy shore is contrasted against the dense shrubs of the jungle, and you’ll feel as if you’ve entered your own world of paradise.
There are plenty of activities to occupy your time in Ta Nod Beach. Besides swimming and snorkeling, there are also several trailheads for hiking. Climbing to the top of Ta Nod Cape will reward you with unparalleled views of the sea.
11. Lamai Beach (Koh Samui)
While visitors flock to Chaweng on Koh Samui, they often neglect to visit the laid-back resort town of Lamai Beach. Although Lami Beach tends to be quieter than Chaweng, it’s usually less crowded and more authentic than its more rowdy counterpart.
The conditions of the water are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and even surfing (depending on the wind and size of the waves). If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can also rent jet skis or ATVs for a thrilling adventure.
In the evening, you can visit one of the many beachside restaurants along the shore. Many of the bars have daily drink specials; you can unwind with a cocktail while watching the sunset in the distance. Don’t miss the night market that happens every Sunday. You’ll have the opportunity to sample street food snacks and purchase a variety of cheap souvenirs to take back home.
12. Similan Islands
Venture to the Similan Islands, and you’ll be rewarded with pristine beaches, spectacular rock formations, and unbelievably clear waters.
The nine islands in the Similan archipelago all have their own distinct personalities. Island No. 8 has several massive boulders that cascade down into the ocean from the beach. You can climb to the top of one of the highest boulders for picturesque views of the surrounding islands.
Island No. 9 and No. 7 have some of the best snorkeling spots, where you can swim amongst turtles and tropical fish. If you plan to spend the night, you can sleep in tents or bungalows on several of the islands.
The Similan Islands are home to the country’s most desirable scuba diving locations. Between the colorful coral gardens, underwater caves, and rocky crevices, there are plenty of spots to explore. With one of the largest collections of coral, you’ll be able to do hard coral reef dives as well as soft coral reef dives.
Best Time to Visit the Beaches in Thailand
Thailand is an incredible vacation destination no matter what time of the year you visit. However, the climate does vary throughout the country, making some places more pleasant to visit than others. Beach weather on the East Coast can be drastically different from the weather on the West Coast.
Generally speaking, the best time to visit Thailand is during the dry season, which starts in November and ends in mid-April. Traveling during the dry season in Thailand also means you’ll be visiting Thailand during the peak season. Flights, hotels, and excursions can be more expensive, and the beaches will likely be more crowded. In the summer, the weather becomes unbearably hot, which can make laying on the beach slightly uncomfortable, and the warm waters during this time don’t offer a great deal of relief from the heat.
You may want to avoid traveling to Thailand during the rainy season, which is from late summer until the end of October.
If you travel during the off-season or shoulder season, you’ll score better deals on travel and accommodation. Although the rain usually comes in short bursts, it can impact your vacation. You’ll need to take into consideration that storms and floods are common. Boat excursions and beach activities are often limited during the rainy season as well.

Amazing Places to Visit in Exotic Thailand

Grand Palace
Exciting, exotic Thailand conjures up thoughts of aromatic spices, stunning Asian architecture and floating flower markets. When you visit, don't miss the Grand Palace in Bangkok, built in 1782 and the official residence of the King of Thailand for 150 years. Then explore the palace complex to see the Emerald Buddha (it's actually made of jade) in Wat Phra Kaew, one of the most important Buddhist temples in the country. Before you make your travel plans, visit the U.S. Department of State for information on safety and security in Thailand, documents required for entry and exit and more.
Khao Khanap Nam
When you see two limestone mountains, known as Khao Khanap Nam, you'll know you're in the Thai city of Krabi. To reach them, visitors often hire local fishing boats, known as long-tailed boats, and guides to ferry them along the Krabi River. If you go, ask to be dropped off at the stairs that lead to a cave under the mountains, where you'll find stalactites, stalagmites and prehistoric cave paintings. Look for birds, monkeys and bats there, too.
Pak Khlong Talat Flower Market
Lose yourself in the colors and fragrances at Pak Khlong Talat, Bangkok’s largest retail and fresh flower market, where you can buy roses, lilies, orchids and more. You’ll also find a variety of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables for sale. The market is open 24 hours a day, and when trucks bring new deliveries, tourists and wholesale buyers crowd around to watch the action. Treat yourself to a flower garland, which is believed to bring good luck and symbolize respect.
Wat Pho, just south of Pak Khlong Talat, is one of the largest temple complexes in Bangkok. It’s also home to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, which houses a giant Buddha covered in gold leaf. In this image, a girl shows respect and gratitude to Buddha by building a miniature stupa from sand (a stupa is a structure that holds sacred relics or otherwise pays tribute to Buddha). While you’re here, visit the nearby Wat Pho Thai Traditional Massage School for a relaxing treatment.
Loi Krathong
Thailand’s Loi Krathong Festival , also called the Festival of Lights, is always held during a full moon, and usually in November. Loi , sometimes spelled loy, means to float, so festival-goers fill small baskets with flowers, incense, candles and wishes, and launch them onto a river or other body of water. Thousands of brightly lit lanterns are also released into the sky, carrying more wishes for good fortune. The festival is held nationwide, but in the city of Chiang Mai, shown here, it becomes a sort of street party that can last for days. If you go, buy your lantern early. Once they become scarce, prices soar.
Sanctuary of Truth
The all-wooden Sanctuary of Truth sits on the beach in Pattaya, a province of Chon Buri. When it’s completed—it’s been under construction since 1981—it will be covered in carved sculptures depicting Buddhist and Hindu figures and themes. According to its website, the impressive Sanctuary, which stands over 344 feet tall, aims "to use art and culture as the reflection of (an) Ancient Vision of Earth." Visit the workshop to see the woodcarvers in action, and check the schedule to catch a traditional Thai dance performance.
Nong Nooch Garden
The largest botanical garden in Southeast Asia, Nong Nooch (sometimes spelled NongNooch) is also in Pattaya. Its 500 acres are divided into a 17th-century French garden, a bromeliad display, butterfly garden, cycad valley, bonsai garden and many other areas featuring plants like palms, cacti and orchids. You won’t be able to see everything in one visit, but you can rent a bike to get around faster, or climb atop an elephant for a ride and a great view.
Floating Market
Four main areas in the Pattaya floating market sell goods and present cultural shows from the north, northeast, central and southern regions of Thailand. Located in Chon Buri, it features over 100 shops and water vendors, making it the largest man-made floating market in the world. Fill your shopping bags with fruits, souvenirs and handmade items—but remember, you may not be able to take some things through Customs. Catch a boat ride to get around the market, then hop out and walk through the wooden buildings that represent each region. Hungry? Stop for coconut pancakes, green curry with seasoned jasmine rice or other authentic Thai foods.
Chumphon Pier
Travelers go by boat from Chumphon , a city on the coast in Southern Thailand, to Koh Pha Ngan and other islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Chumphon is known for its sandy beaches and fresh seafood, but most visitors use it as a jumping off point for the famous—or infamous—full-moon parties at Koh Pha Ngan, where people meet on the shore after sunset to hear live music, drink and dance under the coconut trees.
Bananas are thought to have originated in southern Thailand, and you’ll find varieties here that you’ve never seen in the U.S., like Egg and Leb Mue Nang, or Lady Fingers. (The most common type of banana sold in the U.S. is the Cavendish). There’s even a festival held in Kamphaeng Phet, in north central Thailand, to celebrate bananas. Be sure to sample the banana dessert made there. Called krayasat, it's prepared with sesame seeds, roasted peanuts, sticky rice, coconut milk and other ingredients, and then wrapped and served in a banana leaf.
Tonsai Bay, Phi Phi Don Island
Tonsai Bay, on Phi Phi Don Island, is in the Krabi province. Most tourists come for the outstanding rock climbing in the area, but you can also scuba dive, kayak, sail and snorkel in these waters. Unfortunately, the bay can be nearly inaccessible when the tides are low, or during monsoon season when the waves are high, causing travelers to wade ashore from boats anchored far out in the bay. It’s easier to go to Ao Nang or West Railay if you’re looking for beaches.
Phra Achana Buddha
Thanks to its many temples and historic sites, Sukhothai has been named a UNESCO World Heritage City. Look for the largest Buddha in the city at the Wat Si Chum Temple. This Buddha, known as Phra Achana, or "He who is not frightened," is some 49 feet high and 36 feet wide. It’s housed inside a roofless pavilion with a triangular-shaped opening in front, so visitors standing outside can see the Buddha peeking through.
Ban Salak Khok
Make your way by rental boat to Ban Salak Khok, a quiet fishing village in Koh Chang. This area has one of the best-preserved mangrove forests in all of Thailand. Kayaking is popular here, and many tourists opt to dine on fresh seafood at outdoor tables in the evening, while they watch the local fishing boats come in.

7 Exotic Places in Thailand to visit for your next holiday
Thailand is one of the most exotic countries in the world. At the thought of Thailand, the only pictures that conjure up are those of its stunning beaches , yummy cuisine , vibrant nightlife and warm locals. Pictures are never enough to describe the beautiful and incomparable landscapes of this picturesque tiny piece of paradise. When you think of exotic places you probably think of a faraway land, perhaps an island far away from the hustle and bustle of the noisy cities. While this is a completely normal thought to have when one mentions the word “exotic” there are some places in Thailand that you can travel to right now that are considered exotic.
Here are our picks of 7 most exotic places in Thailand .
1. phang nga bay.
Phang Nga is one of the most glorious bays in Thailand, and perhaps the whole of South-East Asia. It is known for its dramatic landscape, made of limestone islands that give the place a unique look. Now a national park, this delightful expanse of turquoise water is a magnificent example of a karst landscape, extending across an area of 400km2. From the outside, Phang Nga Bay certainly lights up the wanderlust flame in discerned travelers, yet it is beyond the limestone walls and areas of mangrove forests that bring the tropically best out of its dotted landscape. James Bond Island and Koh Panyee are just two of the more famous spots in this bay. By far the best means of enjoying the spectacular scenery, with only brief encounters with the tourist crowds at James Bond and Koh Panyee, is to take one of the boat trips from the northern end of Phuket.
2. Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is one of the most visited tourist attractions and a beautiful historic site in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. No trip to Bangkok is complete without a guided tour of the most iconic landmarks, the magnificent Grand Palace. Built at the end of the 18th century, the palace is a beautiful set of buildings that has been serving as the residents for the Thai Royal Family. Originally the seat and residence of the royal family, the Grand Palace today functions as a center for ceremonies and museums. It is the finest examples of Royal architecture through the millennia. The Grand Palace is to locals what the Eiffel Tower are to the French or the Pyramids are to Egyptians. It is the structure that Thais proudly consider best represents the city and nation. There’s no other locale that exemplifies classical Thai architecture quite like this place.
3. Similan Islands
The Similan Islands of the West coast of Thailand is one of the most famous archipelagos in the Andaman Sea, especially because of the wonders hosted in the clear blue water all around it. The Similan Islands National Marine Park is made up of nine granite boulder islands that lie in a north to south line about 100 km North West of Phuket. With snow-white beaches and a tropical jungle above the water and spectacular dive sites in often crystal clear water below, it’s not surprising that the Similan Islands rank among the top ten diving areas in the world!
4. Khao Sok National Park
Khao Sok National Park is one of Thailand’s best-kept secrets. Limestone rock formations, wild animals like gibbons, elephants and the surrounding jungle are just a few things that give you a unique experience of Thailand. It is the oldest living rainforest in the world the climate has not really been affected by the ice ages has the equatorial position of the forest has not changed. There are some great things to do in this area and you can spend anywhere from 2 to 7 days here. Moreover, the Khao Sok National Park has been hailed as one of the eight most beautiful national parks in 2019 around the world by France’s Vogue magazine.
5. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Damnoen Saduak floating market is the most popular floating market located 90 km and 2 hours by car from Bangkok. Even though there are many floating markets in and around Thailand, but Damnoen Saduak is the most popular and touristic market in Thailand: great for photo opportunities, food, and for giving you an insight into a bygone way of life. Best time to visit will be in the early mornings to avoid the heat and crowd. It’s a colourful one filled with vendors cooking up and frying Thai dishes or selling produce as they paddle their boats on the river. You can buy cheap trinkets, have your meal served to you from a boat via a fishing pole and even have your picture taken with a boa constrictor.
6. Chiang Rai White Temple
The White Temple is one of the most recognizable temples in Thailand and one of Chiang Rai’s most visited attractions. Wat Rong Khun, perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is an unconventional, contemporary Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai. This bizarre-looking white temple is owned by Chiang Rai-born visual artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed it. Chalermchai Kositpipat is one of Thailand’s most well-known visual artists. Primarily a painter, his works have been exhibited worldwide and is known to use Buddhist imagery in his art. What makes Wat Rong Khun different from any other temple in Thailand is the design of the ubosot (ordination hall). It has been built entirely in white with beautiful reflections from mirrored white glass assorted into the building. Visit Wat Rong Khun or the White Temple and you’ll realize what heaven is like.
7. Ko Phi Phi
If you’re headed to the Thai islands, chances are that Koh Phi Phi (famously known as Phi Phi Island) is on your itinerary. In fact it may be the main reason you put Thailand on your bucket list in the first place. Shot to fame by the blockbuster movie “The Beach”, Koh Phi Phi is still one of Thailand’s most popular holiday destinations. The beauty of the island is unparalleled, even in a region of the world renowned for its stunning destinations. Limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, white sand beaches, beautiful coves and bays and miles of trackless forest make Phi Phi a perfect tropical island. Additionally Koh Phi Phi also offers great diving opportunities. It is a good base to explore the best diving sites of the Andaman Sea.
These are just 7 of the most exotic places in Thailand to visit right away, the list of places could extend further. It’s pretty shocking just how many exotic places you can visit in the land of smiles, to be honest.

Thailand - Private Travel
This corner of Southeast Asia, in the middle of the Indochinese Peninsula, lays bare lavish palaces and ancient ruins, white sand beaches, and hidden waterfalls. Biodiverse in the extreme, Thailand yields mountains, forests, and a coastline – two, in fact, edging the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. Buddhism continues to touch all parts of life here, the dizzyingly ornate temples and iconic Buddha sculptures and monuments are all part of your agenda.
Thailand's islands are perfect playgrounds for diving and snorkeling, kite-surfing and resort-hopping, partying, and recuperating.
One visit here will not be enough. Colorful and cultured, Thailand is awash in ancient formalities and modern luxury, an utter thrill for the senses. The ever-enthralling Kingdom of Thailand offers a world of private luxury travel choices for those seeking a new favorite sanctuary. Your luxury adventure here will undoubtedly begin in Bangkok, the fast-paced capital with an international vibe, meandering canals, and dramatic street life. Stops here include the opulent Grand Palace, the sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple, and the reclining Buddha at Wat Pho Temple. The city will also be your introduction to the food markets and fresh Thai cuisine, a flavor explosion from the street stalls to the five-star restaurants. Thailand’s beaches, some of the most photographed in the world, are strewn across the azure waters of two coasts and more than 1,400 islands. These are perfect playgrounds for diving and snorkeling, kite-surfing and resort-hopping, partying, and recuperating – there’s seemingly an island for everything. The lush Chiang Rai province in the north is part of the Golden Triangle region, replete with waterfalls and wild elephants. And the ruins at Chiang Mai reveal the city’s history as a cultural and religious center, home to countless Buddhist temples, including the centuries-old Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang.

Today: Top 10 best luxury hotels & resorts in Thailand
Synonymous with sugar white sand, turquoise waters, and tropical scenery, Thailand’s incredible beaches are renowned around the globe for their beauty, and as a consequence, unfortunately, mass tourism has spoilt some of them. Remember the movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role? Well, these days you have to look a little harder to find the utopian Thai paradise as described in Alex Garland’s 1990s cult backpacking novel. Despite being a magnet for budget and backpacker travelers, Thailand also happens to be home to some of the world’s most ultra-luxurious resorts, whether it be beach enclaves, urban hotels or jungle retreats. Here’s my selection of the top 10 best luxury hotels & resorts in Thailand, and while all of them are stunning properties, the number one resort in this list is an absolutely amazing, out-of-this-world place.
There is more information (with trip reports & YouTube videos) below the slideshow. Think I missed a hotel in Thailand? Leave a comment .

10. KEEMALA PHUKET
Curving shapes and a highly unusual architecture are the inventive dwellings of Keemala, an all pool villa wonderland nestled well away from the Phuket crowds and overlooking Kamala Village and the Andaman Sea. For fun seekers the resort is close enough to Kamala Beach and the liveliness of Patong Beach and all the dynamic action that Phuket has to offer, yet far enough removed to step back and take time to enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the rainforest and a plethora of holistic activities and cuisine to aid wellbeing. Shaded by an enchanted canopy of rainforest and connected together by a network of jungle walkways, the resort’s 38 villas are designed for guests wishing to experience a rustic, yet lavish, escape. Some villas are built in the canopy, featuring two floors complete with a private pool, upper level master bedroom, and a large lounge and dining area on the lower level.
- Hotel website : Keemala
- Other accolades : Keemala also features in my top 10 lists of the best luxury hotels in Phuket , the best treehouse hotels in the world , and the most instagrammable hotels in the world .

The Siam hotel – opened in 2013 – is in a category of its own and unique to the Thai capital. The suites at the Siam are amongst the largest in city, all outfitted with plush furnishings, super-sized king beds and lofty ceilings. Each room has been individually designed with original turn of the century oriental artwork and antiques. Guests can also choose for an intimately private pool villa and bask in either Thai, Chinese or Colonial surrounds. The best Intelligent luxury resort Soneva Kiri
Very strange selection in my opinion. I worked for the last 15 years in Thai luxury travel industry and here’s my selection:
Out of the list above only a few hotels fit the top 10: Soneva Kiri FS Tented Camp Six Senses Yao Noi (although the beach is a compronise) Rayavadee (although 50% of customer complain about noisy boats at the beach crowded with day trip tourists).
FS Samui – the beach is too shallow, swimming in low tide is not possible though gets a little better in winter months. Their residences however are superb.
Banyan Phuket – it’s ok if you like to live a kilometer away from the beach.
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok – too old, the buildings a old with rediculously low ceilings in the rooms. Peninsula is so much better in every aspect. Overpriced.
Amanpuri – super old, some things feel antique – bathrooms for instance. Extremely overpriced. Don’t understand why would anyone want to pay that money for what they offer.
Point Yamu – no beach! Some rooms designs are interesting but that’s not enough. W Retreat Samui is much better for that matter.
Dhara Devi Chiang Mai – wierd combination of Thai and colonial architecture. The Thai part is a bit like a residential development. Four Seasons Chiang Mai would be my first choice.
Among my personal favourites:
Anantara Maikhao Phuket – fantastic beach, great value for money, villas no further than 3 min walk from the sea. Top choice in Phuket.
Trisara – the beach is shallow, the rooms overpriced but still it;s a better choice than Amanpuri, villas have great sunset views.
Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan – the most beautiful beach in the Gulf of Siam, great value for money, have beachfront pool villas (most Thai luxury 5* hotels dont)
W Retreat – to choice for trendy design lovers, good location, beach 4/5
Banyan Tree Samui – the biggest1 bedroom pool villas in Samui, have separate living room, good location, beach 4/5 (better than FS)
Vana Belle Koh Samui – another perfect beachfront unaffected by low tides. New and reasonably priced.
Santiburi – though less expensive but super popular and has the best beach in Samui.
Pimalai Resort Koh Lanta – the best kept 5* secret, magnificent beach, biggest pool villas in it’s class, fantastic management by a dedicated GM.
bro you should try trisara phuket
If I’m just hella rich, I’d definitely love to go in all of the hotels listed in this article. I mean, I wouldn’t even think twice living here.
I’ve only stayed at one of these (the Four Seasons Koh Samui) and I thought THAT was the best hotel in Thailand, but it really does seem like some of these ones you ranked higher than it would definitely give it a run for its money. Soneva Kiri looks amazing!
You should try 1. Pimalai Krabi for a superb pool villa with ocean view plus pristine beach! 2. Hansar Bangkok is also amazing especially Virtigo Suite. 3.The Barai Suite in HuaHin also features many amazing factors such as complimentary 60-min spa and nice big private pool! 4. High Season, Koh Kood – Amazing pool villa at reasonable price 5. 137 Pillar Bangkok – rooftop pool with breathtaking panoramic view of Bangkok. Huge suite and great club benefits.
Thanks for this post! It’s my dream to travel to Thailand one day so I am sure I can refer back to this when I finally book my trip!
Nice selection of comments here. Banyan Tree Samui – nice resort but I did not feel the service was good Amanpuri – my first visit was about 15 years ago and it was fantastic. Visited again in 2018, what a difference in service, very poor at those prices.
Yes, for luxury hotels it’s all about the service.
The absence of Trisara is a major oversight. So often rated best resort in Asia AND has only Michelin star restaurant in Phuket, one of few in Thailand. Unfathomable it’s left off. And the newly renovated MO Bangkok, so often rated #1 hotel in the world?
wow, it’s amazing how much beauty our planet has and how much there is to discover, thank you very much, very good article
Thanks admin for sharing this informative post.
Re: Anantara Maikhao Phuket
Best beach by far, particularly if you walk 200-300m north and stay on the beach with the Nature reserve behind you. Shade from the trees in the morning.Absolutely idyllic for a Phuket beach. Just silence and birdsong. DO NOT book a two bedroom villa. These are opposite the main entrance to the resort and are mostly timeshare with the Chinese as the main owners. The villas are massive and beautiful but the noise levels generally in the area is excessive. There is also a childrens pool area where organised sports are regularly run which add to the general ‘lack of peace’. Breakfast is usually hectic and competitive although the food is great. Staff were great when we there and the Manager was exceptional. However too many kids for our liking , maybe this resort is better for young families. The only peace we got was on the brillian beach.
Amanpuri , just comeback from them.. july 2020!!! Its crazy OVERPRICED!!! What they give for this price, sorry it’s shocking! Restaurant is bad and overpriced. Food looks bad but yes, ingredients is fresh. Don’t book Garden pavilion , its small and ugly. No sun inside, no flower , only greens.. so choose only OCEAL PANORAMIC POOL PAVILION. But also its gonna be maximum 30% view of ocean ..
The hotel is nice, no complaints , the service staff is amazing and helpful, my only problem was with front office staff you were not really warm in welcoming the guest, no smile on the face ,lack of training I feel personally and location attitude, the breakfast was good Over all I am satisfied with the service but not happy with the front office who are the face of the hotel
For me, a hotel is not just about luxurious, the views matter a lot. And going by the photos, I feel what I am looking for can be found at THE SIAM Hotel Bangkok. The million-dollar views from the hotel are priceless.
Will you explore beautiful Moscow at some time?
Only the crazy would go to Russia, right now.
I know the author thinks very highly of Soneva, but Kiri should not be in the list, yet alone #1. The beach (“North Beach” – a buggy ride away) is very small, and not particularly idyllic. The villas are huge, but lacking maintenance. Our pool was losing its finish, and various bit of the roof detached and fell during our stay, including one large piece. The bathtub never worked. Various villas are completely closed and are starting to be reconsumed by nature. I get it’s rustic, but compared to FS Tented Camp, which is equally remote and has that rustic vibe, well, there is no comparison.
