Foo Fighters Everything Or Nothing At All Tour Setlist Songs 2024

Following the success of their sixth chart-topping album But Here We Are last year, Foo Fighters are back on the road.

The Everything Or Nothing At All Tour marks Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee's first series of shows without their late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022, aged 50. Now, prolific session and touring drummer Josh Freese steps in.

Having kicked off the tour in Dallas on May 1, the group are set to bring the show to UK stadiums later this month.

If you have a ticket, here's everything you can expect from the gig.

Here’s the epic setlist from the first night of Foo Fighters’ Everything Or Nothing At All tour

Last night (May 1) at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, Texas, Foo Fighters kicked off their Everything Or Nothing At All summer stadium tour in typically humongous fashion.

Supported by K! faves Nova Twins , Foos treated the Lone Star State to a whopping 24-song set – technically more if you break up the medley – including monster hits Best Of You, All My Life and Breakout, as well as a handful of newies like Rescued, The Glass and the heart-wrenching The Teacher from their latest record But Here We Are .

The tour rolls on across the States for the rest of the month, before the Foos hit the UK for some huge shows at Old Trafford and the London Stadium, then onto the Euro fests and back to the States again.

If you're heading to those shows, here's a look at what you're in for...

Foo Fighters: Their 43 Best Songs

43. “shame shame” from ‘medicine at midnight’ (2021).

In interviews, Dave Grohl compared 'Medicine at Midnight' to David Bowie's 'Let's Dance.' The album definitely had some solid jams - but it doesn't hold up to their catalog quite as well as 'Let's Dance' did to Bowie's. Still, "Shame, Shame" is a song that will always sound good in concert.

42. The Dee Gees – “You Should Be Dancing” from ‘Hail Satin’ (2021)

The Dee Gees were the Foo Fighters, of course, and this EP saw them covering songs from the Brothers Gibb catalog (from The Bee Gees or Andy Gibb). The band sounded like they had a blast here (and the whole EP is pretty fun).

41. “T-Shirt” – ‘Concrete And Gold’ (2017)

The song starts out as a solo Dave Grohl acoustic folk tune before erupting into a Queen-level production -- even as he sings, “I don’t want to be Queen” -- with one of the many great Foo Fighters guitar riffs. And then it goes back to folk. It does all of this in one minute and twenty-three seconds. It also has one of Grohl’s sage bits of advice: “There's one thing I have learned/If it gets much better/It's going to get worse.” In other words: try to make peace with where you are in life.

40. “Something From Nothing” – ‘Sonic Highways’ (2014)

Rick Neilsen of Cheap Trick guesting on guitar (as if the three-guitar band need any more six-stringers), Rami Jaffe’s funk keyboards and the riff from Dio’s “Holy Diver” make this song the easy highlight of the uneven ‘Sonic Highways’ album.

39. “Down In The Park” – ‘Songs in the Key of X: Music from and Inspired by the X-Files’ (1996)

It’s no surprise that a band named after flying saucers would have an affinity for ‘90s UFO/conspiracy theory-obsessed sci-fi drama ‘The X-Files.’ The Foo Fighters’ cover of the 1979 song by Tubeway Army (Gary Numan’s former band) may have been a surprising choice, but it worked incredibly well. It’s one of the best of the Foos many covers.

38. “Bridges Burning” – ‘Wasting Light’ (2011)

The song starts abrasively with a distorted guitar riff, and then another one, before the band kicks in and Grohl screams, “These are my famous last woooooords!!!” Happily, that wasn’t true -- Dave Grohl has written and sung many more tunes in the past decade. “Bridges Burning” kicked off one of the band’s best albums, one they haven’t topped since. But note that Grohl refers to himself in the song as the “King of Second Chances,” and it’s kind of true: who thought that Nirvana’s drummer would go on to be one of the biggest rock stars of the next three decades. So you’d be foolish to think that he doesn’t have more classic LPs in him.

37. “Statues” – ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007)

Dave Grohl has always had an indie-punk ethic, but happily he grew out of the orthodoxy of that scene. “Statues” is a lovely piano ballad (with Grohl on piano) that would not sound out of place between songs by Cat Stevens and Carly Simon on a ‘70s hit station.

36. “Sunday Rain” – ‘Concrete And Gold’ (2017)

Only two people have sung lead vocals on Foo Fighters albums: Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins. The latter of takes the mic here for his best vocal performance. And only four people have sat behind the drum kit: Grohl, Hawkins, William Goldsmith and… Paul McCartney. That’s right: the band with two great drummers gets Paul freakin’ McCartney into the studio and they put him on the drum kit. It works though. Funny enough, “Sunday Rain” sounds like it could be a Wings outtake.

35. “Wheels” – ‘Greatest Hits’ (2009)

If Tom Petty asked Dave Grohl to write a song for the Heartbreakers, what would it have sounded like? Probably “Wheels.” And it would have been great to hear Tom sing this one.

34. “Summer’s End” – ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007)

The Foo Fighters have had a crazy amount of hit singles, but some of their greatest songs are hidden towards the end of their albums. “Summer’s End” is one of them, and it should have been a hit. LIsten to it once, and try to get it out of your head.

33. “Friend Of A Friend” – ‘In Your Honor’ (2005)

A solo acoustic song that Dave Grohl wrote when he was in Nirvana, possibly about Kurt Cobain. An earlier version of this song was included on a collection of Grohl tunes under the name “Late!” which was released on a small indie label as a limited-edition cassette-only release back in 1992. It’s been bootlegged often, but has never had a wide release; it also featured “Color Pictures Of A Marigold,” which Grohl re-recorded with Krist Novolselic as “Marigold,” and was released as the B-side to Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box.” More than a decade after Cobain’s death, “Friend Of A Friend” stands as a moving tribute.

32. “Long Road To Ruin” – ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007)

Turn down the guitars a bit, and this is another jam that could have been a hit on AM radio in the ‘70s. Which seems to have inspired the song’s very ‘70s looking video.

31. “Rescued” from ‘But Here We Are’ (2023)

The lead track from a very emotional album: this was the first Foo Fighters record following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. It was also their first album since Dave Grohl's mom, Virginia, died. So it was a pretty emotionally heavy album and "Rescued" was the highlight.

30. “Miracle” – ‘In Your Honor’ (2005)

One of Dave Grohl’s loveliest songs, this one gets an assist from his future Them Crooked Vultures bandmate, John Paul Jones, on piano.

29. “Exhausted” – ‘Foo Fighters’ (1995)

In some ways, it’s the first Foo Fighters song: it’s probably the first one that many fans heard. It premiered on one of Pearl Jam’s pirate radio broadcasts. In the Foo Fighters’ early days, this often closed the band’s live sets.

28. “What If I Do?” – ‘In Your Honor’ (2005)

Grohl said of the song, “It's an ode to North Carolina. I lived there from 1991 to 2002, on the coast where there were these beautiful sand dunes. It's [about] finding yourself by disappearing.”

27. “Big Me” – ‘Foo Fighters’ (1995)

A sugary sweet pop country-rock song, it kicked off the long tradition of hilarious Foo Fighters videos. Older fans might remember that the video led to fans throwing Mentos (or “Footos”) at the Foos when they played the song live, which led them to stop playing it. Happily, it returned to the set; the Mentos phase has thankfully passed.

26. “Run” – ‘Concrete And Gold’ (2017)

The song features some of Dave Grohl’s most primal screaming and still manages to be catchy and melodic. The band surprise-dropped the song and video and seven weeks later, it topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, showing that the Foo Fighters were still relevant, twenty-two years into their career.

25. “Aurora” – ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’ (1999)

It’s a favorite of the hardcore fans, and Dave Grohl likes it too. He told Rolling Stone: “It is definitely one of my favorite songs that we've ever come up with. It's a nostalgic look back at Seattle and the life I once had. That song actually questions the meaning of life.” He added, “It's probably the heaviest thing I've ever written."

24. “Gimme Stitches” – ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’ (1999)

One of Dave Grohl’s most power-poppy songs, “Gimme Stitches” features one of his catchiest choruses.

23. “Baker Street” – B-side of “My Hero”

23. “Baker Street” - B-side of “My Hero” Dave Grohl has always had a jones for ‘70s soft rock... as seen here, on this cover of the Gerry Rafferty classic. The original version, a #2 pop hit in 1978, was driven by the iconic saxophone playing of Raphael Ravenscroft, which the Foos replaced with (of course) screaming guitars.

22. “The Pretender” – ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007)

One of the Foo Fighters’ heaviest songs had a bit of an unlikely lyrical influence: the ‘Sesame Street’ song “One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others.” Grohl has always been great at mixing heavy guitars and drums with a pop sensibility, and he does it brilliantly here, adding in a Chuck Berry-ish guitar riff for good measure.

21. “Learn To Fly” – ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’ (1999)

Dave Grohl’s progression from drummer to bandleader was a difficult one, and by ‘99, he’d parted ways with three former Foo Fighters; drummer William Goldsmith and guitarists Pat Smear and Franz Stahl. ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’ was recorded by the trio of Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel and drummer Taylor Hawkins, and on “Learn To Fly,” Grohl was coming to terms with being the man at the top. At one point, he expressed ambivalence about the song, but later revised his opinion. "Lyrically it was all about just settling in to the next phase of your life,” he told Kerrang! “That place where you can sit back and relax because there had been so much crazy s--- in the past three years.” And the video, featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D, is legendary.

20. “Rope” – ‘Wasting Light’ (2011)

The first single from one of the band’s best albums, ‘Wasting Light,’ this song and album reintroduced Pat Smear as a full-time Foo Fighter, giving the group a new three-guitar attack of Grohl, Smear and Chris Shiflett.

19. “All My Life” – ‘One By One’ (2002)

A rather R-rated jam about oral sex, it was an unusual choice for the first single and lead track from ‘One By One.’ Most artists from the ‘90s/’00s alt-rock era didn’t sing too much about sex, but Grohl stuffs a lot of rock star swagger in the punky tune, bragging, “Done! Done! On to the next one!”

18. “Hey, Johnny Park!” – ‘The Colour And The Shape’ (1997)

The song’s title is named for Dave Grohl’s boyhood friend, Johnny Park, who he’d lost touch with, but that has nothing to do with the rest of the song. When he asks, “Am I selling you out?” Grohl sounds defensive: all these years later, the concept of “selling out” seems quaint. But the truth is, Grohl has become one of music’s biggest and most enduring stars, and he’s done it on his own terms.

17. “Erase/Replace” – ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007)

This song starts with a soaring guitar riff, not unlike the one in “Baker Street,” and the riffs get heavier as the song progresses. Grohl has said that as a drummer and a guitar player, he loves to play and write riffs; he must have had a blast writing this song.

16. “Another Round” – ‘In Your Honor’ (2005)

The acoustic half of ‘In Your Honor’ had some of Dave Grohl’s best songs, and he looked outside the band to expand their sound. “Another Round” features Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones on mandolin, Rami Jaffe of the Wallflowers on keyboards (he’d later join the Foo Fighters) and famed rock photographer Danny Clinch plays harmonica.

15. “Next Year” – “There Is Nothing Left To Lose” (1999)

By the late ‘90s, Dave Grohl seemed to get more and more comfortable with his inner soft-rocker, and was writing more mellow jams that worked side by side with his raging guitar rockers. This is a perfect example; you could almost imagine a mainstream country artist scoring a hit with this song.

14. “Walking After You” – ‘X-Files: The Album’ (1998)

The original version of this was on ‘The Colour And The Shape,’ but the band re-recorded it the following year for the ‘X-Files’ soundtrack. It’s a rare recording with guitarist Franz Stahl and is one of their first tracks with Taylor Hawkins. The re-recorded version is a bit shorter and has some sweet backing vocals. The video shows Grohl doing some serious acting too (it’s on YouTube).

13. “I’ll Stick Around” – ‘Foo Fighters’ (1995)

Fun fact: this song was the Foo Fighters’ first music video, and it was directed by Gerald Casale of Devo. The song is an early example of Grohl merging his love for hardcore punk (the “I! Don’t! Owe! You! Anything!” chant) and melodic Beatlesque rock.

12. “Arlandria” – ‘Wasting Light’ (2011)

Named after the town in Virginia where Dave Grohl was living, on “Arlandria” he rages against celebrity status, two decades after he became a household name as Nirvana’s drummer and sixteen years after the Foo Fighters’ first album. “Close your eyes, turn around, help me burn this to the ground/Come now, take the blame, that's OK I'll play the game/I don't care it's all the same, watch it all go up in flames/Use me up, spit me out, let me be your hand-me-down/Fame, fame, go away, come again some other day.” The lyrics were a bit surprising, as Grohl seems to handle celebrity better than most, and it seems like he’s figured it out. Speaking of which, it’s crazy that ‘Saturday Night Live’ *still* hasn’t tapped him to host an episode!

11. “Let It Die” – ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ (2007)

Many of the Foo Fighters songs used Nirvana’s (and the Pixies’) quiet/loud dynamic, and “Let It Die” holds up to the songs in both of those bands’ catalogs. The lyrics are vague: “Why'd you have to go/And let it die/Do you ever think of me/You're so considerate,” and, as with many of Dave Grohl’s songs, are like lyrical Rorschachs: what they mean to you is as much a reflection of you as whatever inspired them. Ex- guitarist Pat Smear guested on the song; he’d soon rejoin the band.

10. “I Should Have Known” – ‘Wasting Light’ (2011)

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic reunited, post-Nirvana, twice in 1995: they played together on Mike Watt’s first solo album, and on an album by a band called the Stinky Puffs. This was their first recorded collaboration in 16 years, and with all due respect to Nate Mendel, the Foo Fighters’ longest-running non-Grohl member, Novoseic’s bass playing was perfect for this song. He added some accordion as well. It’s probably not a coincidence that this album was produced by the same guy who produced ‘Nevermind,’ Butch Vig.

9. “Monkey Wrench” – ‘The Colour And The Shape’ (1997)

The first Foo Fighters album was a stunning collection: a nearly perfect group of songs written, sung and played by Dave Grohl. But would there be a sophomore slump? The first single from ‘The Colour And The Shape’ quickly squashed that question. The video, directed by Grohl, marked the first appearance of Taylor Hawkins as a Foo Fighter; original drummer William Goldsmith played on a few songs on the album, but Grohl used his own playing on most of the songs. Hawkins -- previously a member of Alanis Morissette’s band -- didn’t join until after the album was in the can.

8. “Dear Rosemary” – ‘Wasting Light’ (2011)

Dave Grohl has always cited Husker Du’s Bob Mould as an influence (even name dropping Husker Du’s “New Day Rising” in “Times Like These”). But here, Mould joins the Foo Fighters, playing guitar and singing very distinct vocals on this song, which is one of the band’s greatest non-singles.

7. “Stacked Actors” – ‘There Is Nothing Left To Lose’ (1999)

Featuring one of the Foo Fighters’ heaviest guitar riffs, many fans presumed that the song was about Courtney Love, but Dave Grohl has said that it was about his experience of living in Hollywood.

6. “Walk” – ‘Wasting Light’ (2011)

Originally written for the previous album, ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace,’ Grohl decided that it made the perfect ending for ‘Wasting Light.’ It’s an uplifting anthem about second chances and starting over, something Grohl knows a bit about: “Learning to walk again I believe I've waited long enough/Where do I begin?”

5. “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” – ‘Concrete And Gold’ (2017)

Famed astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson doesn’t come up as a musical influence often, but Grohl said that his song was inspired by Tyson’s answer to the question: “What is the most astounding fact about the universe?” (You can find the video on YouTube.) Appropriately, he used wide-screen production: there’s a string section and backing vocals from powerhouse singer Alison Mosshart of the Kills and the Dead Weather.

4. “This Is A Call” – “Foo Fighters’ (1995)

Dave Grohl played bass guitar on “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me For A Sunbeam” from Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged, which may have surprised some who thought he was “just” a drummer (although if were you type who checked out the B-sides, you probably heard the Grohl-written and sung “Marigold,” the b-side to “Heart Shaped Box”). OK, but could he lead a band? The first single from the Foo Fighters’ self-titled debut, which was also the album’s lead track, announced that Grohl was way more talented than we’d realized. Indeed, the first Foo Fighters record is essentially a Dave Grohl solo album, as he sang, played bass, drums and all of the guitars (except for “X-Static,” which featured Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs). Fans and radio reacted quickly to the new Grohl: “This Is A Call” hit #2 on the alternative charts, and #6 on the mainstream rock charts.

3. “My Hero” – ‘The Colour And The Shape’ (1997)

Fans have interpreted this song to be about Kurt Cobain, but Dave Grohl has never verified that. In the Foo Fighters’ performance on ‘VH1 Storytellers,’ Grohl said that it was inspired by the seemingly normal characters in ‘80s films like ‘Valley Girl.’ Yet another rumor is that the song is about Pete Stahl, the singer of Scream, a DC-area hardcore band that Grohl played in prior to joining Nirvana (the band’s guitarist Franz Stahl was briefly a member of the Foo Fighters). But a recurring theme with Grohl’s best songs is that, regardless of what they were written about, they’re vague enough that you can apply them to your life, and it’s probably one of the many reasons why the band has been so popular for so long.

2. “Times Like These” – ‘One By One’ (2002)

The ‘One By One’ sessions weren’t easy, and during a break in the action, Dave Grohl wrote this song. “It's times like these you learn to live again/It's times like these you give and give again” might have been about his relationship with the band, but the song is malleable enough to fit different situations. Case in point: a number of British pop stars recently recorded a socially-distinct version of the song for the BBC; Grohl and Taylor Hawkins contributed to the recording as well. It also showed the wide and enduring appeal of the band: most of those pop singers are probably not familiar with the Foos’ peers or their influences.

1. “Everlong” – ‘The Colour And The Shape’ (1997)

“When I sing along with you/ If everything could ever feel this real forever/If anything could ever be this good again/The only thing I'll ever ask of you/You've got to promise not to stop when I say when.” This song was released three years after Kurt Cobain’s death, and it certainly felt like it could have been about him. Dave Grohl allegedly wrote that about an ex-, but, as we’ve mentioned, universal lyrics transcend their original inspiration, and that’s certainly true here. It also clearly has a lot of meaning to David Letterman: in 2000, after the talk show host had quintuple bypass surgery, he said that listening to “Everlong” was crucial to his recovery. For his first show back after the surgery, Letterman asked the band to come on the show and play that song. The Foo Fighters often close their shows with this song, and -- of course -- the audience sings along with Dave. Many of them surely have their own stories too, and it’s always a powerful moment.

Foo Fighters Launch 2024 Tour: Set List, Videos

Foo Fighters returned to the road with the launch of their 2024 Everything or Nothing at All tour on May 1 in Dallas.

The sold-out show took place at the Dos Equis Pavilion, with an estimated 20,000 fans in attendance.

Dave Grohl and his bandmates have a well-earned reputation for delivering long shows, and they certainly were up to the task on this night, rocking through 24 songs during their set.

Foo Fighters gave fans an eclectic assortment of songs during their tour opener. Yes, the massive hits were well represented, as "The Pretender," "Times Like These," "All My Life" and "Best of You" all got their time to shine. But the band also mixed in deeper cuts, like "Arlandria" (from 2011's Wasting Light ) and "La Dee Da" (from 2017's Concrete and Gold ).

Midway through the show, Grohl paid tribute to late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell .

"Since we're here in Dallas, I'm gonna dedicate this one to an old friend who lived around here," the frontman declared. "His name was 'Dimebag' Darrell. How about that? Let's hear it for Darrell. It's called 'My Hero'."

Naturally, the evening ended with the Foo Fighters' customary closer, "Everlong." See the full set list and fan-shot videos from the concert below.

Foo Fighters' 2024 Summer Plans

Foo Fighters' initial stretch of 2024 U.S. dates will last two weeks and include stops at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Shaky Knees Festival and Welcome to Rockville. In June, the band heads to the U.K. and Europe for performance, before returning Stateside for a longer run of dates beginning in July. Mammoth WVH and the Pretenders will each open select concerts later in the summer.

Notably, this marks the Foo Fighters first extensive North American tour with Josh Freese as part of the band. The drummer, who took over for the late Taylor Hawkins in 2023, previously joined the group for some one-off U.S. dates and a tour of Australia and New Zealand. The Dallas show featured several songs Freese hadn't previously performed with the band, including "Bridge Burning" and "Medicine at Midnight." The There Is Nothing Left to Lose song "Aurora" was dedicated to Hawkins.

Foo Fighters at London Stadium: timings and everything you need to know

The legendary rockers’ Everything Or Nothing At All tour lands in London this week

Ed Cunningham

One of the biggest rock bands in the world right now are playing London this week. After kicking off the UK leg of their Everything Or Nothing At All tour in Manchester last week , Foo Fighters are heading up to massive shows at the London Stadium.

Dave Grohl and co’s shows follow the release of 2023 album But Here We Are , a record that is both full of Foo Fighters’ typical anthems and deals with the band’s grief following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.

If you’re heading to see Foo Fighters at the London Stadium this week, expect an emotional (but still rip-roaring) show. Here’s everything you need to know about the gigs, from timings and support acts to any remaining tickets.

When are Foo Fighters playing London Stadium?

The band’s shows are on Thursday June 20 and Saturday June 22 .

What time do doors open for the gigs?

Doors for the two shows will open at 4.30pm.

What time will Foo Fighters come on stage?

Expect the band to take to the stage between 7.40pm and 8.05pm. The curfew for the London Stadium is 11pm.

Who is supporting the band?

On June 20, the Foos will be supported by Wet Leg and Shame.

On June 22, support will come from Courtney Barnett and Hot Milk.

What’s the setlist for the Everything or Nothing At All tour?

For an idea of what the Foo Fighters will play at the London Stadium, this was the setlist in Manchester last week (according to Setlist.fm ).

Recent tour reviews

Have seen Dave Grohl solo, singing with his kids at the Fox Theater in Oakland for a UCSF "Notes and Words" benefit for very ill children. Amazing solo performance and moving to see him playing for his daughter Violet as she sang an Adele song. Tickets for show in San Jose in 2018 which was OK, but large arena (home of San Jose Sharks) and Cal Jam 2018. Cal Jam was very special as Dave, Pat, and Krist reunited to play a six song set of Nirvana songs, with John McCauley fronting for three songs and Joan Jett for three more. Only second reunion: first at Nirvana hall of fame induction; but this was the first at a concert open to us regular people. Made my spine tingle as much as if I could have attended a Beatles reunion. Dave was a monster on the drums, Pat killed it on the guitar, and Kris put forth his unique manner of playing bass. No bad locations at that venue. Pit, fixed seating, and lawn behind, so oldsters like me could sit during some of the warm up bands. Most recently saw the Foos at the Intersect Festival in Las Vegas this month. Less passion in this performance and while my favorite member of the Foos is Pat, he appeared intoxicated, totally spacing out at one point and cut off by Dave during his short solo for introductions. Wish he would skip the bottle of champagne on the stage. Did not like the Vegas venue, as in a very large tent with heavy smoking, excessive drinking, people holding up large signs blocking the view of many behind, and a nasty fistfight right in front of me with a drunk obnoxious guy getting the s**t kicked out of him by about 8 guys. Guess Dave did not see, as he is not tolerant of violence at this concerts. This was center stage about 10 people back, right in front of him. Had another very drunk woman come up and start grinding on me, looking as if she would vomit at any moment. Thankfully she left holding her mouth. I was not excited about the project of trying to find my way from front, center covered in her vomit. Vegas is a city of excess, and everything at this Amazon sponsored event seemed excessive. There were more bars than food stands. I was sick for a week from all of the smoke exposure. Hope they return to Cal Jam, keep indoor venues non-smoking, and definitely avoid the tent gigs.

ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! The Foo Fighters has’t played a concert in Florida in 12 years and they had finally came. They played everything from their debut album all the way to their newest album Concrete and Gold. “All my Life”, “Run”, “The Pretender”, “This is a Call”, “Breakout”,and “Everlong” are some examples of what they played! Every song they played sounded crisp and clean. I prefer them live now over prerecorded stuff. Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, and the rest of the gang were great at hyping up the crowd. Having simple conversation with the crowd and simply making everyone feel right at home. They also out preformed themselves playing cover songs like “Blitzkrieg Bop” by the Ramones, Van Halen’s “Jump”, Alice Cooper’s “Under my Wheels”, and “Under Pressure” by Queen. The Foo’s had a spectacular set list and made it feel more than just a Foo Fighters concert. The band had little surprises here and there throughout the show like Taylor Hawkins with a crazy drum solo that lasted for about 5 minutes! The opening act, The Struts, were also very great and played their hearts out. If you never been to a concert or never seen the Foo Fighters live, then you need to make sure you get out of your way to see these guys! They’re aboslute killers on stage! You won’t regret it! FYI if it’s an amphitheater venue it’s 10 times much better the crowd is way more fun and you can let loose and dance your ass off!

So I very recently reviewed an epic night with the Foo Fighters in DC for the 4th of July. Everything came together perfectly for the Foo's 20th Anniversary Show. Dave Grohl and company played the hits, as well as their debut album almost in its entirely. You can read the full review here.

But somehow, that show wasn't the Foo concert I was most excited for this year. No...that would be their huge Boston gig at the Beloved Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. (I'm a huge Sox fan) I had purchased presale tix to this back in November, and it was a long 8 months waiting for the highly anticipated weekend.

When it finally arrived, Boston was ready for it. Prior to the show, I walked over to a 'pop up shop' selling Foo Fighters memorabilia, only to realize their was a 20 minute wait to get into the store. The Fenway show was sold out with approximately 35,000 people in attendance. And this was just night 1 of 2 in Boston.

Following opening sets by Boston favorites Mission of Burma, and Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the Foo's came on right at 8pm. As was similar to the DC show, the first half was completely based on Foo Fighters greatest hits. The first 90 minutes was single after single spanning the entire Foo catalogue.

Best moment came in the middle of the set when Grohl crutched down to the end of stage and received some acoustic help from his guitarists. As they did in DC, Foo's chose to perform two of the best songs acoustically with 'My Hero' and 'Times Like These.' The volume at which the Fenway crowd sang 'My Hero' was a true highlight of the night, and may have been the best song.

Lead singer Dave Grohl definitely took some time to talk to the Fenway crowd. He explained how this was the Foo's first stadium tour, and how that was a long time coming. He listed past venues played in Boston, and what the city means to him. He also told a great story of losing his High School Battle of the Bands competition and jokingly asked what the band that won was doing tonight. This was prior to covering Queen's 'Under Pressure.' Overall, Grohl was in a chatty and pleasant mood.

With the injury still bothering Grohl, the guys skipped leaving stage for the encore and played straight through until about 10:45 (just shy of a 3 hour show, and passing the 10:30 curfew). The final closer was 'Best of You,' giving the Fenway crowd one more chance to sign along with the rock band.

The only negative I would say is that since the first half of the show was so focused on the hits, the second half seemed a bit lacking. With the exception of 'Best of You,' they had nothing left to play in the last hour that could generate the same reaction and sing a long as the first 90 minutes. Maybe they could have just spaced out the most popular tunes more.

But really it was an awesome set and even more of an epic night because of the venue. Fenway is the ballpark I grew up seeing Sox games at, so it was definitely a pretty special experience to come back and see one of my favorite bands play there. I won't be forgetting this one and look to see it towards the top of the 'Best Shows of 2015' list.

Concert Rating: 4.5 Stars

Everything We Know About Foo Fighters' New Album, 'But Here We Are'

'But Here We Are' marks the Foo Fighters’ first album since the passing of their beloved drummer Taylor Hawkins. With the lead single "Rescued" out now, take a look at all the details we know about the rock band’s forthcoming LP.

Foo Fighters have faced trying times in the last few years, but the beloved American rock band always returns to hope. Announced today, their upcoming album But Here We Are marks their first album since drummer Taylor Hawkins ' passing in March 2022, and its title points to the importance of finding unity in the present.

Having won 15 GRAMMY Awards since the beginning of their career in 1994, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have masterfully produced dozens of versatile rock classics over the years. And though But Here We Are is their eleventh album, the project denotes a historic turning point in the band's catalog — as a press release describes, “the first chapter of the band’s new life.”

Take a look at everything we know about Foo Fighters' forthcoming album.

But Here We Are Drops June 2

Kicking off the summer right, the band's new album will drop June 2, and fans can pre-order it now. Its vinyl is now available on their website in both black and white, and CD, cassette, and digital downloads are available alongside various clothing merchandise.

Surprise, Its Lead Single "Rescued" Is Out Now

Foo Fighters surprise-released the album's booming lead single, "Rescued," today on all streaming platforms. The band also shared an official lyric video made by designer Agustin Esquibel, featuring black text glitching in and out over white.

"I’m just waiting to be rescued," lead singer Dave Grohl growls over guitar, his chorus describing a desperate search for freedom. "Bring me back to life."

They Started Teasing The Album A Week Before Announcing It

Fans first started speculating new music from Foo Fighters was on its way when the band's official Instagram shared a short Instagram reel on April 12. The captionless reel asks "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" over an instrumental snippet of what we now recognize as "Rescued."

Yesterday, one day before "Rescued" dropped, another cryptic reel popped up, asking "Are you feeling what I'm feeling?" and "This is happening now." The apt lyrics foreshadowed the song's release and album announcement, sending patient fans into a frenzy.

The Album Serves As A "Testament" To Healing

Foo Fighters has never been a group to shy from vulnerability, and But Here We Are nods to the band's recent struggles. In a recent press release, their upcoming album is described as “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year."

Continuing, the press release explains that the record is "a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family." Fans can expect an emotional rollercoaster of an album ranging from "rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance," and it's self-evident that the band is unafraid to tap into raw authenticity for their music.

They've Unveiled The 10-Song Tracklist

In addition to dropping "Rescued," the band also shared the 10-song tracklist of their 11th LP. The title track clocks in at No. 4, and the lead single "Rescued" kicks off the album with an energetic, grungy start.

1. Rescued 2. Under You 3. Hearing Voices 4. But Here We Are 5. The Glass 6. Nothing at All 7. Show Me How 8. Beyond Me 9. The Teacher 10. Rest

It's Produced By Greg Kurstin & The Band Themselves

To craft But Here We Are , Foo Fighters worked with record producer Greg Kurstin , a frequent collaborator who produced the band's Concrete and Gold (2017) and Medicine at Midnight (2021). A songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Kurstin has worked with everyone from Paul McCartney to Maren Morris .

Kurstin has won nine GRAMMYs, including Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical twice. In addition to working on Adele 's 25 and 30 , he co-wrote and produced her moving ballad "Easy on Me," which took home the GRAMMY for Best Pop Solo Performance this year.

It Arrives Before They Continue Touring & Headlining Festivals

When news broke in 2022 that Hawkins had passed, Foo Fighters immediately canceled their upcoming touring schedule, cutting more than 50 shows. The band later paid moving tribute to their late bandmate with six-hour, star-studded concerts in Los Angeles and London.

Foo Fighters will embark on a headlining tour spanning the US and UK from May to October, along with select festival performances in between. They're set to headline Boston Calling and Ohio's Sonic Temple in May, Tennessee's Bonnaroo in June, San Francisco's Outside Lands in August, and more major music festivals.

Behind The Scenes With Nirvana Photog Charles Peterson: 6 Images From His New Book

In 'Charles Peterson’s Nirvana,' the Sub Pop photographer chronicles the career of Kurt Cobain and his Seattle band — from their indie days to stardom. Speaking to GRAMMY.com, Peterson shares behind-the-scenes stories about some of his favorite shots.

When photographer Charles Peterson first saw Nirvana at a small Seattle club in 1988, he was so underwhelmed he didn’t bother taking a single picture of them.

The band shared a bill with local act Blood Circus, who, Peterson says, "put on quite a grungy show; lots of hair going everywhere and guitars flying." When Nirvana came on, "they had the lighting guy dim the light really low and Kurt [Cobain] just stood there and stared at his feet. The music came off as kind of heavy, really difficult to play. I just didn’t get it." At one point Peterson even turned to Sub Pop Records co-founder Jonathan Poneman and asked him, "Jon, are you sure about these guys?"

Sub Pop was sure about Nirvana, and would later sign them. And as the label’s in-house photographer, Peterson (who was in his mid-20s at the time) documented the band’s career for the next five years — from their indie days to international stardom. In his latest book, Charles Peterson’s Nirvana , from Minor Matters Books, Peterson has winnowed down his impressive catalog of an estimated 3,000 shots to a well-curated 90.

Released on Feb. 20, Cobain’s birthday, Charles Peterson’s Nirvana features shots from his first session with the band, lounging in the wilds of Bainbridge Island, Washington ("They did have that kind of hippie aspect to them") to his last, a promotional shoot for In Utero ("They all, Kurt especially, just seemed a little tired"). While the book tells the band's story, it's less of a history and more reflective of Peterson's own experience.

As Peterson recalls, Minor Matters Founder Michelle Dunn Marsh defined the book’s direction, believing Peterson's "artistic sensibility and how it moves the viewer and portrays the power of the music" set his work apart from the thousands of other images taken of Nirvana.

Peterson spoke with GRAMMY.com about the stories behind five images in the book. "And like I say in the introduction, go put on a Nirvana record before you look at this book, and you really get that idea of immersion in the music," the photographer advises.

Peterson Got Up Close & On Stage With Nirvana

Peterson had ready access to the band in their pre- Nevermind years. "It was great, in these early days, to be able to just crawl around on the stage, go do whatever I wanted to," he says. "It does bring an intimacy that you lose later on when you’re stuck in a position like the pit or off behind a PA or something."

In his early days of photographing Nirvana, Peterson had free range of movement and often stood behind the band or close at their side. The musicians had also become a lot more active on stage compared to when Peterson first saw them.

Krist Novoselic, University of Washington, Seattle, Jan. 6, 1990

"I don't know what it was, if it was having Chad [Channing] as their drummer or the addition of Jason Everman for a while [on guitar]; maybe that allowed Kurt to worry a little bit less about hitting the chords perfectly so that he could jump around and go face down on the stage and roll around and do all that," Peterson says. "Even so, he’s not holding the audience’s attention. They’re not looking at Kurt; they’re all looking at something over there, which must be somebody stage diving or something.

"It’s all those little details that you pick up on that are great; there’s a piece of crumpled paper in front, and another photographer up in the back," Peterson notes. "And again, in the Krist shot, he's looking at me yet everyone else is looking away. There’s all this other stuff going on that you don’t even have to pay attention to the band. There’s feet in the air here. A lot of Converse in the photos!"

Nirvana's Audience Was Just As Important — And Interesting

Peterson always focused his lens on the audience as much as the bands. "I love this one because you’ve got a Nirvana shirt there. One person is looking at me; nobody else is. Bare chests. A lot of sweaty, sweaty hair," he says of the above photo, taken at a makeshift venue that was actually a parking garage.

"Seattle crowds, we’re some of the best. And it just didn’t seem right to isolate the power of the bands from the effect that they were having on the audiences," Peterson reflects. "I found that the photos had just that much more power if you could anchor the band in their time and space with the audience, and see what that reaction is between the two, versus it just being the beauty shot of the singer."

Peterson says there was both a symbiotic and cathartic relationship between Nirvana and their fans. "People would be like, ‘Oh my God, look at those audiences in Seattle!’" The photos distill the essence of that relationship. "The bands are great, the personalities in the bands are great…that idea that it’s a complete scene, that the participation of the audience is just as important as the participation of the bands."

Peterson recalls standing next to the PA at stage right during this show.

"What I would do is, with one hand, lean out holding the camera upside down over the audience. And then I would have my flash in the other hand, so that the light gave a nice kind of mottling to it. Not looking through the viewfinder, just photographing. I do a lot of that," he says. "The camera takes the picture whether you’re looking through the viewfinder or not."

Peterson knew immediately that something special had occurred when he took this picture. "I remember pushing the shutter on this shot and going, What just happened? But then the show moves on."

A few days later, Peterson was in his darkroom developing the film and finally saw the impact of the moment he captured. He printed the image and a proof sheet, and gave them to Nirvana’s Seattle publicist Susie Tennant , who shared them with Cobain. The picture is on the back of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" single.

The photo became one of Peterson’s most widely reproduced images. "I think what makes a photo iconic is that the photo reads easily and at the same time is larger than life and dramatic," he says. "And despite the fact that it reads easily to the eye, there’s a lot of other stuff, hidden stuff going on that you need to think about.

"It’s also a photo that you can sort of transport to any time and place. It doesn’t necessarily have to be locked in with this particular show or anything. It really goes beyond that and then that ends up standing the test of time."

By '91 Nirvana Inspired Mosh Pits Everywhere, Even In Stores

Peterson calls this in-store appearance, a week before Nevermind was released, as "a watershed moment."

"This was the last time I saw them play on a floor, which to me makes for great photos because you’re right there at the same level as them. It really is in your face," he says. "What was totally surprising was the subsequent mosh pit in the store, with people being hoisted on shoulders."

There were also signs of how things were about to change for the band, Peterson recalls. "Kurt was besieged by autograph seekers outside the store. It was the first time I think that really happened to him. He was definitely overwhelmed by it."

Peterson had some challenges in the darkroom when developing this film, which led to a "weird graininess" that differs from many of his other images. "At the time I was like, ‘Oh God!’ But I think it has a unique look that you just don't get with digital now, unless you really manipulate it."

Kurt Cobain Cared About His Peers

By the time of this show, Nirvana were a bonafide international sensation. The band were plagued by stories of drug use and rumors about an impending break-up, while Courtney Love had just given birth to her and Cobain's daughter. All of which attracted huge media interest in this performance.

"I was a little shocked when I went into the press tent; I had never been to a festival like this before and there were 96 photographers listed on the dry board!" Peterson reflects. "Photographers that were shooting from the pit in the front of the stage, they would bring them out and give them five minutes each."

That was not going to work for Peterson.

"And all of a sudden, Nick Cave finished and there was this huge rush to the stage. And [Nirvana’s UK publicist] Anton Brookes grabs me by the wrist and he’s like, ‘Dude, come with me!’ And we all start running up onto the stage, up the ramp. I was taking a few snaps and then everybody settled into their place. There was Eric Erlandson [from Hole] next to me, and to the right was Mark Arm [from Mudhoney] and some members of L7," Peterson says. "I didn’t have an official stage pass or anything like that, but as long as I was with those guys, it was all cool. That was my spot, so I didn’t dare move from it.

"This photo was a really, really special moment. Kurt, in between songs, he just looked over at us, and mouthed something like, ‘How are you guys doing?’ And we’re like, ‘We’re fine.’ And then we started waving like back at him, like, ‘Go play, dude! Don’t worry about us,’" Peterson remembers.

"It was like he wanted to check in with his peeps on the side of the stage. It’s one of my favorite photos."

A potential volume two of Nirvana photos is being considered, as is a retrospective of Peterson’s work, which includes photos of Soundgarden , Screaming Trees, TAD, Mother Love Bone, Beat Happening, and a multitude of others. But Nirvana invariably tops the list.

"You can talk and write reams about the dramas and the ins and outs. But it’s the power of the music that keeps people coming back," he says of the band. "And the fact that it’s not rooted in a time and place; you can make the music be whatever you want it to be. I mean, half the time you don’t know what Kurt’s singing about or even what the words are, but you can shout your own words along to it if you want. It’s the music that really is that lasting, lasting legacy."

GRAMMY Rewind: Foo Fighters Win A GRAMMY For "Walk," The Song They Recorded In Dave Grohl's Garage

Relive one of the Foo Fighters' two wins for "Walk" at the 2012 GRAMMYs, where they ended up taking home five golden gramophones altogether.

The 2012 GRAMMYs were a huge night for the Foo Fighters . Walking in as six-time winners already, the rock band nearly doubled their GRAMMY count with five more golden gramophones that night.

Their two wins for Wasting Light single "Walk," Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song, may have been the most exciting for Dave Grohl and co. Not because it's their biggest hit, but because it's perhaps their grungiest — literally.

"This was a special record for our band," Grohl said as the band accepted their Best Rock Performance GRAMMY. "Rather than go to the best studio down the street in Hollywood, rather than using all the fanciest computers you can buy, we made this one in my garage with microphones and a tape machine."

Grohl went on to praise producer Butch Vig ; the making of "Walk" and the acceptance speech reunited the pair, who hadn't worked together since Nirvana.

"To me, this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of making music is what's most important," Grohl explained. "Singing into a microphone, learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft is the most important thing. It's not about being perfect … It's about what goes on in [your heart] and what goes on in [your head]."

2023 In Review: 10 Trends That Defined Rock Music

Rock acts young and old helped the genre stay alive in 2023. Take a look at 10 of the genre's most prominent trends, from early aughts revivals to long-awaited reunions.

The rock scene may no longer be the dominant force it once was — blink-182 's One More Time... is the only Billboard 200 chart-topper this year to predominantly fall under this category. But 2023 has still been an interesting and eventful period for those who like their guitar music turned up to eleven.

Over the past 12 months, we've had the two biggest groups of the Swinging Sixties returning to the fray in style, a new European invasion, and a wave of blockbuster albums that may well go down as modern classics. And then there's the revivals which will no doubt spark nostalgia in any kids of the 2000s, a resurgence in all-star line-ups, and a residency that could possibly change how we experience live music.

As we gear up for the holiday season, here's a look at 10 trends that defined rock music in 2023.

European Rock Traveled To America

From Lacuna Coil and Gojira to Volbeat and Rammstein , the Billboard charts aren't exactly strangers to European rock. But 2023 was the year when the continent appeared to band together for a mini invasion. Italian quartet Måneskin continued their remarkable journey from Eurovision Song Contest winners to bona fide rock gods with a Best New Artist nod at the 2023 GRAMMYs, a top 20 placing on the Billboard 200 albums chart for third album Rush! , and a Best Rock Video win at the MTV VMAs.

Masked metalers Ghost scored a fourth consecutive Top 10 entry on the Billboard 200 with covers EP Phantomime, also landing a Best Metal Performance GRAMMY nomination for its cover of Iron Maiden 's "Phantom of the Opera," (alongside Disturbed 's "Bad Man," Metallica 's "72 Seasons," Slipknot 's "Hive Mind," and Spiritbox's "Jaded"). While fellow Swedes Avatar bagged their first Mainstream Rock No. 1 with "The Dirt I'm Buried In," a highly melodic meditation on mortality which combines funky post-punk with freewheeling guitar solos that sound like they've escaped from 1980s Sunset Strip.

Age Proved To Be Nothing But A Number

The theory that rock and roll is a young man's game was blown apart in 2023. Fronted by 80-year-old Mick Jagger , The Rolling Stones reached No.3 on the Billboard 200 thanks to arguably their finest album in 40 years, Hackney Diamonds , with lead single "Angry" also picking up a Best Rock Song GRAMMY nod alongside Olivia Rodrigo 's "aallad of a homeschooled girl," Queens of the Stone Age 's "Emotion Sickness," Boygenius' "Not Strong Enough," and Foo Fighters ' "Rescued." (The latter two will also battle it out with Arctic Monkeys ' "Sculpture of Anything Goes," Black Pumas ' "More than a Love Song," and Metallica's "Lux Aeterna" for Best Rock Performance.)

The eternally shirtless Iggy Pop , a relative spring chicken at 76, delivered a late-career classic, too, with the star-studded Every Loser . And Bruce Springsteen , KISS , and Paul McCartney all proved they weren't ready for the slippers and cocoa life yet by embarking on lengthy world tours.

Death Was No Barrier To Hits

Jimmy Buffett sadly headed for that tropical paradise in the sky this year. But having already recorded 32nd studio effort, Equal Strain on All Parts , the margarita obsessive was able to posthumously score his first new entry on the Billboard Rock Chart since 1982's "It's Midnight And I'm Not Famous Yet."

But he isn't the only artist to have recently achieved success from beyond the grave. Linkin Park reached the U.S. Top 40 with "Lost," a track recorded for 2003 sophomore Meteora , but which only saw the light of day six years after frontman Chester Bennington 's passing.

Perhaps most unexpectedly of all, The Beatles topped the U.K. charts for the first time since 1969 thanks to " Now and Then ," a psychedelic tear-jerker in which surviving members McCartney and Ringo Starr brought previously unheard recordings from George Harrison and John Lennon back to life.

The Giants Stayed Giant

Foo Fighters also overcame the death of a core member on what many rock fans would consider this year's most eagerly awaited album. Drummer Taylor Hawkins , who passed away in early 2022, doesn't feature on the poignant but vibrant But Here We Are . Yet the two-time GRAMMY nominated LP still proved to be a fitting tribute as well as an encouraging sign that Dave Grohl and co. can extend their legacy:lead single "Rescued" became their 12th number one on Billboard's Main Rock Chart .

The Best Rock Album category for the 2024 GRAMMYs proves that veterans were alive and mighty in 2023. Along with the Foos' latest LP, the nominees include another Grohl-affiliated band,, Queens of the Stone Age's first album in six years, In Times New Roman... , Paramore 's This Is Why , Metallica's 72 Seasons and Greta Van Fleet 's Starcatcher .. (Metallica's 72 Seasons also struck gold with its singles, three of which landed at No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, where lead single "Lux Æterna" spent 11 consecutive weeks on top.)

Of course, we also have to give a shout-out to U2 . Not for March's Songs of Surrender album (for which they re-recorded 40 of their biggest and best tracks), but for the immersive, eye-popping Las Vegas residency at The Sphere which potentially reinvented the future of live music.

The Rock Supergroup Continued To Thrive

2023 spawned several new rock supergroups including Mantra of the Cosmos (Shaun Ryder, Zak Starkey and Andy Bell), Lol Tolhurst x Budgie x Jacknife Lee , and Better Lovers (various members of The Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die). But it was an already established all-star line-up that took the GRAMMY nominations by storm.

Consisting of Phoebe Bridgers , Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker , boygenius bagged a remarkable seven nods at the 2024 ceremony. Throw in a well-received headline set at Coachella, U.S. Top 50 follow-up EP, and even a "Saturday Night Live" showing alongside Timothée Chalamet, and the trio couldn't have asked for a better way to continue what they started together in 2018.

The Early 2000s Enjoyed A Revival

The cyclical nature of the music industry meant that the era of choppy bangs and super-skinny jeans was always going to come back into fashion. And following throwbacks from the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Willow , the original punk-pop brigade returned this year to prove they could still mosh with the best of them.

Possibly the defining nasal voice of his generation, Tom DeLonge headed back into the studio with blink-182 for the first time in 12 years, with the resulting One More Time... topping the Billboard 200 . Linkin Park (" Lost "), Papa Roach (" Cut the Line "), and a reunited Staind (" Lowest in Me ") all scored No. 1s on the Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart, while Sum 41 , Bowling For Soup , and Good Charlotte were just a few of the high school favorites who helped cement When We Were Young as the millennial's dream festival.

The Emo Scene Went Back To Its Roots

After channeling the new wave and synth-pop of the 1980s on predecessor After Laughter , Paramore returned from a six-year absence with a record which harked back to their mid-2000s beginnings. But it wasn't their own feisty brand of punk-pop that Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee This Is Why resembled. Instead, its nervy indie rock took its cues, as frontwoman Hayley Williams freely admits , from touring buddies Bloc Party.

Paramore weren't the only emo favorites to rediscover their roots. Fall Out Boy reunited with Under the Cork Tree producer Neal Avron and old label Fueled By Ramen on the dynamic So Much (for) Stardust . And while Taking Back Sunday further veered away from their signature sound, the Long Islanders still embraced the past by naming seventh LP 152 after the North Carolina highway stretch they used to frequent as teens.

Country Artists Tapped Into Rock Sensibilities

We're used to seeing rock musicians going a little bit country: see everyone from Steven Tyler and Bon Jovi to Darius Rucker and Aaron Lewis. But the opposite direction is usually rarer. In 2023, however, it seemed as though every Nashville favorite was suddenly picking up the air guitar.

Zach Bryan repositioned himself as Gen-Z's answer to Bruce Springsteen with the heartland rock of his eponymous Billboard 200 chart-topper (which is up for Best Country Album at the 2024 GRAMMYs alongside Kelsea Ballerini 's Rolling Up the Welcome Mat , Brothers Osborne 's self-titled LP, Tyler Childers ' Rustin' in the Rain , and Lainey Wilson 's Bell Bottom Country ). Meanwhile, Hitmaker HARDY — who first cut his teeth penning hits for Florida Georgia Line and Blake Shelton — leaned into the sounds of hard rock and nu-metal on his second studio LP, The Mockingbird & the Crow .

But few committed more to the crossover than the one of country's greatest living legends. Dolly Parton roped in a whole host of hellraisers and headbangers including Richie Sambora , Joan Jett & The Blackhearts , and Rob Halford , for the 30-track Rockstar — her first rock-oriented project of her glittering 49-album career.

Post-Grunge Reunions Were Abundant

Fans of the mopey '90s scene known as post-grunge had all their dreams come true this year thanks to several unexpected reunions. Turn-of-the-century chart-toppers Staind and Matchbox Twenty both returned with new albums after more than a decade away. Creed , meanwhile, announced they'd be headlining next year's Summer of '99 cruise after a similar amount of time out of the spotlight.

The insatiable appetite for all things nostalgia, of course, means that any band — no matter how fleeting their fame — can stage a lucrative comeback. Take Dogstar, for example, the unfashionable outfit boasting Hollywood nice guy Keanu Reeves. Twenty-three years after appearing to call it a day, the Los Angeles trio surprised everyone by hitting the Bottlerock Napa Valley Festival before dropping a belated third LP, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees and embarking on a headlining national tour.

The New Generation Gave The Old Their Dues

Say what you want about today's musical generation, but they know to pay respect where it's due., Olivia Rodrigo, for example, doffed her cap to '90s alt-rock favorites The Breeders by inviting them to open on her 2024 world tour.

New working-class hero Sam Fender invited fellow Newcastle native Brian Johnson to perform two AC/DC classics at his hometown stadium show . While ever-changing Japanese kawaii metalers Babymetal debuted their latest incarnation on "Metali," a collaboration with one of their musical idols, Rage Against the Machine 's Tom Morello .

Whether new artists are teaming up with the old or veterans are continuing to receive their flowers, 2023 proved that rock is alive and well.

New Music Friday: Listen To New Music From RIIZE, Norah Jones & Dave Grohl, Mr. Eazi & More

As we hurtle into spooky season, listen to these spooky tracks from Mr. Eazi, RIIZE, Norah Jones & Dave Grohl and more.

As Halloween approaches, this New Music Friday offers a potion of nostalgia, emotions and fresh sounds.

From RIIZE — K-pop's rising stars, who are mesmerizing listeners with their pop hit "Talk Saxy" — to Norah Jones & Dave Grohl uniting for an unexpected collaboration with "Razor," many different genres are being represented today.

Keeping old times alive, Taylor Swift released her highly-anticipated Taylor’s Version of 1989 , and Duck Sauce is bringing back their 2011 "Barbra Streisand" sound with their new dance single, "LALALA."

Listen to these seven new tracks and albums that will gear you up for spooky season 2023.

RIIZE - "Talk Saxy"

K-pop’s rising stars, RIIZE, are making a vibrant musical return with their new single, "Talk Saxy," a hypnotic dance track that adds a level of depth to their sound even including a catchy saxophone riff. The lyrics focus on attraction to a stranger, and wanting to get their attention.

"Talk to me exactly what you feel / Hide nothing, show me all and everything / It’s okay, let your heart do what it wants / Get it straight to the point / Talk Saxy," RIIZE croons on the chorus.

This track follows their debut single "Get a Guitar," which launched their announcement that they’d signed with RCA Records. RIIZE is the first boy band group to hail from SM Entertainment since Kpop group NCT . RIIZE members, Shotaro and Sungchan, are notably from NCT, and departed from the K-pop group this year.

Norah Jones & Dave Grohl, "Razor"

Dave Grohl, the frontman of Foo Fighters, graced jazz-pop singer Norah Jones’ podcast with special musical performances, including a cover of "Razor," a rare gem from the Foo Fighters 2005 In Your Honor album.

The track features a calm beat with a tranquil melody and guitar strings and piano, blending their strengths seamlessly. This track follows their collaboration on the In Your Honor track "'Virginia Moon."

During this podcast, Jones announced the release of a Black Friday Exclusive LP Record dropping on Nov. 24. Featuring a collection of podcast episodes with fellow musicians, this looks to be a real treat for fans of Jones and/or her estimable guests.

Jacob Collier feat. Michael McDonald and Lawrence - "Wherever I Go"

Jazz musician Jacob Collier has dropped the song "Wherever I Go," a look into his forthcoming album, Djesse Vol. 4. A track inspired by idols from his childhood including the Doobie Brothers , Stevie Wonder and more, he’s made a standout collaboration with Michael McDonald and Lawrence to craft a memorable record.

The two-minute track, which includes a strong bassline and soulful vocals, paints an illustration of loneliness from their lover.

The four-part journey of Djesse has gained him five GRAMMY awards and 11 nominations. With Djesse Vol. 4 , collaborations such as "Little Blue" with Brandi Carlile to Ty Dolla $ign and Kirk Franklin are showcasing Collier’s versatility and knack for genre syntheses.. He also announced a 2024 North American tour with musicians Kemba and Emily King , celebrating the release of this album.

Mr Eazi - The Evil Genius

Afrobeats sensation Mr. Eazi has unveiled his debut album The Evil Genius. The 16-track record shows Eazi’s ability to blend his rhythms from his hometown Nigeria, with hypnotic grooves from Ghana where he spent most of his years.

The Evil Genius takes listeners through his roots, family, love and loneliness in three acts. His skill in blending different styles of music like Gospel and Ghanian styles, makes him the global phenomenon he is. Eazi chose 13 African artists from eight countries to collaborate on this album, bringing together different parts of Africa.

Enhancing the music album, he has introduced a global art exhibition in Ghana, which features work from young artists across Africa.

Tiësto with Tears for Fears, NIIKO X SWAE, GUDFELLA - " Rule The World (Everybody) "

American DJ & singer Tiësto dropped a fresh new track with Tears For Fears , NIIKO X SWAE and GUDFELLA for a reimagining of the 1985 "Everybody Wants To Rule The World." This heart-racing banger has blended stylistic worlds to imbue a classic song with an even catchier, dance-flavored beat.

NIIKO X SWAE originally released an unofficial remix on Soundcloud, which then went viral on social media.. "Rule The World (Everybody)" could certainly become a new party anthem to put on your ‘Halloweekend’ playlist.

Maria José Llergo - ULTRABELLEZA

Spanish singer María José Llergo released her newest album ULTRABELLEZA, following her 2020 Sanación. The album features songs that transverse between genres like "NOVIX," which features a intricate, Latin rhythm and "Superpoder," a star-studded pop song.

"Flamenco is like the blues," she said in a NY Times interview. Liergo discusses how she incorporated Flamenco, a Spanish art form, into her album in hopes of keeping her cultural traditions rooted in the lyrics that "tell stories of survival — it’s always been a way for the most oppressed to escape."

Duck Sauce - "LALALA"

The hitmakers behind 2010 classics "Barbra Streisand" and "Big Bad Wolf" are back with another dubsmash single called, "LALALA." This duo has made another infectious dance track, which makes listeners transports them to the wildest party of their dreams. "LALALA" feels reminiscent of their past collaborations together, keeping up the nostalgia theme on this special Friday.

The GRAMMY-nominated producers behind Duck Sauce , Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, have recently joined Defected Records’ D4 D4NCE imprint. Taylor Swift isn’t going to tolerate it.

The pop star , 34, seemingly responded to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl shading her at the band’s concert in London on Saturday night.

“I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” Grohl, 55, began in a clip that went viral on social media.

“So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f – – king errors as well. Just a couple,” he continued. “That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f – – king place.”

Grohl suggesting that Swift doesn’t perform live seemingly got back to the “Anti-Hero” singer, who has also been in London on her history-making Eras Tour .

As Swift later took the stage at Wembley Stadium, Swifties believe she clapped back at Grohl’s remarks as she praised her band.

“Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much,” she said in a video from the concert.

“And so does every one of my fellow performers,” added Swift. “And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”

The Swifties chimed in on X, formerly known as Twitter, and defended Swift from Grohl’s alleged jab.

“She stays classy!! always crediting her entire crew and performers,” one fan wrote .

“@foofighters you don’t get to insult her, the band or the dancers. They work their butts off to deliver a live show every night,” another person said .

A different tweet read , “This is what leadership is all about – supporting others, not undermining them.”

Another Swiftie wrote , “Oh she heard that old man and had to respond in the most classy way.”

Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour in London

Grohl previously praised Swift when he dedicated the Foo Fighters song “Congregation” to her at the BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2015.

“I’m officially obsessed. She might want to get a restraining order because I’m all about Swift,” Grohl said at the time, per Variety .

“To my opening band, Taylor Swift. Taylor and the Swifts,” he added.

Swift kicked off her sold-out Eras Tour in Arizona on March 17, 2023. It has since become the highest-grossing tour of all time after surpassing $1 billion in revenue.

Her shows in London have been attended by numerous celebrities , including Prince William and two of his kids, Tom Cruise, Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi and Ellie Goulding.

Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, even made a surprise appearance on the stage at Sunday’s concert.

Foo Fighters UK Tour 2024: Hour-by-hour forecast for Glasgow performance tonight and predicted setlist

 • Foo Fighters continue their UK tour this evening with a performance at Hampden Park in Glasgow
 • The band have already enjoyed a successful two nights at Old Trafford in Manchester to kick off their tour
 • But will the weather hold out in Glasgow for Foo Fighters’ fans and what have they been playing on the road so far?

After a raucous two nights in Manchester last week, Foo Fighters hit the road and head up north to Glasgow for their show at Hampden Park this evening (June 17 2024).

The group, celebrating the release of their latest studio album, “ But Here We Are, ” are only a few sleeps away from the long-awaited return to London this week, with performances at the London Stadium on June 20 and June 22 2024 before travelling to Cardiff and finally finishing their UK tour in Birmingham.

As for their first shows on the UK Tour - by all accounts, despite the weather forecast stating that their first performance in Manchester could be a washout, the weather thankfully held for fans at Old Trafford , with one reporter going as far as to state Grohl managed to keep the weather at bay.

That reporter also revealed that despite the curfew that Old Trafford has, they didn’t get back home until 1:30am - and it was a “school night.” Such is the allure of Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters - they just have a knack for making sure everyone has a good time.

But before fans get excited and make their way to Hampden Park for the show, what time are the gates set to open in Glasgow and more importantly - will it be clear skies to see the band perform or is it worth packing your poncho before leaving the house this evening?

When do the gates open to Hampden Park to see Foo Fighters in Glasgow?

Ticketmaster has advised that gates will open to Hampden Park for the Foo Fighters performance in Glasgow this evening at 5:00pm, with Setlist.FM revealing that at their previous two UK dates in Manchester, the band should be on stage shortly after 7:40pm

What is the weather forecast for Glasgow ahead of Foo Fighters’ Hampden Park show?

It should by all accounts, according to the Met Office , be a patchy evening at Hampden Park but certainly not a wash. The forecast for this evening reads “a cloudy night with clear spells, early showers in the east clear during the evening. Patchy rain or drizzle spreads to Argyll later. Minimum temperature 10 °C.”

Hour-by-hour forecast for Hampden Park, Glasgow on June 17 2024

 • 5pm: 40% chance of rain - a high of 18 and a low of 15
 • 6pm: 10% chance of rain - a high of 17 and a low of 15
 • 7pm: Less than 5% chance of rain - a high of 17 and a low of 15
 • 8pm: Less than 5% chance of rain - a high of 16°C and a low of 15°C
 • 9pm: Less than 5% chance of rain - a high of 16°C and a low of 14°C
 • 10pm: Less than 5% chance of rain - a high of 14°C and a low of 13°C
 • 11pm: Less than 5% chance of rain - a high of 13°C and a low of 12°C

What have Foo Fighters been playing so far on their 2024 UK Tour?

Look what he made her do.

Taylor Swift seemed to subtly react to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl’s recent insinuation that she doesn’t perform live .

One day after the 55-year-old rocker’s comments during a concert went viral on social media , Swift started her London Eras Tour show with a pointed message .

“Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight, they deserve this so much,” the “Bad Blood” singer, 34, said onstage Sunday after a standing ovations.

“And so does every one of my fellow performers,” she continued. “And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”

Swifties celebrated the 14-time Grammy winner’s “classy” response via X, joking that she “sees everything.”

“i love that she is like ‘you can talk s–t about me not singing live, but do not f–king discredit the hard work of the people who do this show with me,” one social media user wrote .

Many fans pointed out that Swift does sing live as she has stopped her performances on multiple occasions to request help for audience members in distress.

Others, however, insisted that Grohl was “joking” and “never bad mouths people.”

His comments were captured in a TikTok video on Saturday, with Grohl initially calling his tour the “Errors Tour” as a play on Swift’s Eras Tour .

“I feel like we’ve had more than a few eras and more than a few f–king errors as well,” the musician said during his London Stadium show. “Just a couple.

“That’s because we play live,” he continued before pretending to be scandalized by the apparent shade. “What? Just saying. We’re a live band! You guys like live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f–king place.”

Grohl and Swift’s reps have yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The former Nirvana drummer previously declared himself a Swiftie, claiming to be “officially obsessed” with Swift back in 2015.

The singers were also all smiles when photographed together in 2008.

 • Why Is Dave Grohl Beefing With Taylor Swift?

Portrait of Bethy Squires

Celeb feuds! They can be iconic, they can be profitable , they can be worked out in the remix . Dave Grohl seemingly tried to start a new feud ex nihilo with Taylor Swift. Both Swift and Grohl were playing London Sunday — Swift’s Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium (capacity 90,000) and Grohl with the Foo Fighters at London Stadium (capacity 80,000). Onstage, Grohl said, “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift.” In service of not suffering her wrath, Grohl then said the Foo Fighters call this current tour the Errors Tour. “We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few fucking errors as well. Just a couple,” he said. “That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ’n’ roll music, right? You came to the right fucking place.” So just to recap: The Foo Fighters don’t want Swift’s wrath, but they do want to imply that she’s not performing live. Great, good. A well-argued, structurally sound piece of rhetoric.

Meanwhile, Charli XCX is calling off her fans’ chants of “Taylor is dead!” at her shows. “Can the people who do this please stop. online or at my shows,” she wrote on IG Stories. “It is the opposite of what i want and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in the community. i will not tolerate it.” Someone really smart and wise said, “It’s just self-defense until you’re building a weapon,” and someone else really smart and wise internalized that lesson!

Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl riles Taylor Swift fans with concert comment

Grohl set off social media debate after some say he implied swift doesn't perform live.

Social Sharing

Dave Grohl incurred the infamous wrath of Taylor Swift fans on the weekend, after the rocker seemingly took a jab at the chart-topping singer while playing on stage with the Foo Fighters.

The veteran musician made the off-the-cuff remarks while performing in Manchester, England, on June 15.

Grohl said during the Foo Fighters show, "I'm feeling like Taylor Swift," then added, "I should be so lucky."

"Listen — tonight, this is my Eras Tour, OK? I've got a lot of eras," he continued, referencing Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour. "Spelled e-r-r-o-r-s. This is my 'Errors Tour,' how about that?"

 • Taylor Swift will end her record-breaking Eras Tour in December
 • Here's what you need to know about Taylor Swift's new album

Grohl revisited the joke later in the show, drawing boos from the crowd when he brought up Swift, in footage posted to TikTok .

"I'm telling you, man, you don't want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift," he said, but then continued, apparently ignoring his own advice. "So, we like to call our tour the Errors Tour, because I feel like we've had more than a few eras and more than a few f--kin' errors as well. Just a couple. That's because we play live."

A woman in a blue dress turns her head to pose for cameras.

As the crowd cheered, Grohl added, "Just sayin'. We're a live band. You guys like live rock 'n' roll music, right?"

Many social media users interpreted the remarks as a shot at Swift, saying Grohl was implying the Shake It Off singer does not perform live.

This drew a predictably thorny response from Swifties, who called Grohl a "loser" and said he was using Swift's name for "clout." One user on X (formerly Twitter) called his comments "misogynistic lies."

While Taylor Swift was on stage at Wembley last night, Dave Grohl was a few miles away at a much smaller venue firing unprovoked shots. He stopped twice to spew misogynistic lies and encourage his fans to boo her. Funny how he respected Taylor until her success surpassed his own. pic.twitter.com/SoLPPKBEkM — @whitastrophe

Both artists are currently touring the U.K. Swift spoke out during her Saturday show at London's Wembley Stadium in what some fans interpreted as a response to Grohl.

"Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who's gonna be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight, they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers," Swift said on stage .

 • Watch Alanis Morissette join Foo Fighters onstage for Sinéad O'Connor cover

Foo Fighters fans jumped to Grohl's defence online, saying he was simply having fun "at his own expense," or suggesting that he was referencing Swift's use of backing tracks — a common practice for large pop artists — rather than suggesting that Swift herself does not perform live.

Overblown nonsense. Dave Grohl was clearly just having fun at his own expense and using a play on words with eras/errors. Wasn't directed at Taylor Swift at all. https://t.co/27npR8Jvlk — @TheAFDPodcast

Some also pointed out that Grohl's daughter Violet was attacked online by Swifties earlier this year after posting that Swift should "drive like everybody else," in a seeming reference to her controversial usage of private jets . Swifties are notorious for their online bullying, with many people having been doxxed and sent death threats after criticizing the singer online or having become unwittingly involved in Swift-related drama.

 • Taylor Swift commands a huge fan base — and for some, it borders on spiritual

Grohl has spoken generously of Swift in the past, on multiple occasions.

At a 2015 concert, he said he was "officially obsessed" with Taylor Swift, and in an appearance on The Howard Stern Show , Grohl recalled Swift "beautifully" performing the Foo Fighters song Best of You on piano at Paul McCartney's house.

X user Stephen Hyden joked, "In the Dave Grohl vs. Taylor Swift beef I wonder who will get custody of Paul McCartney."

Taylor swift and dave grohl just ignited a feud over playing live on their tours, share this article.

foo fighters tour track list

Here we go. Dave Grohl started it and it appears Taylor Swift has responded … and both of them did it on stage at one of their shows.

Let’s explain: during a recent Foo Fighters show, Grohl said, “You don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” before diving in and talking about how their tour is called the “Errors Tour.”

“That’s because we actually play live,” he said. Barbs thrown.

Seems like Swift caught wind of it, because she addressed the Eras Tour in London crowd by thanking her band members and crew, adding, “My band who’s gonna be playing live for you for three-and-a-half hours tonight, they deserve this so much.”
