Affordable travel insurance for all ages

I am 80 years old. I made only two phone calls to goodtogo and on both occasions was dealt with by super efficient and extremely helpful members of staff. The first call was to enquire about travel insurance. This involved me answering a number of straight forward health related questions. This completed, I was offered a choice of three available policy plans. Each of these were clearly explained then immediately email to me for consideration. I rang back a week later having sort out and received comparative quotations from two other companies offering exactly the same cover but for a rediculously priced premium which would add 50% to the cost of my holiday. I accepted the goodtogo Platinum policy which was by far the most competitively priced and which gives me full cover at a realistically affordable cost.

Date of experience : 27 May 2024

Staff helpful and everything covered.

Staff I have dealt with very helpful and makes it probably easier to speak to them rather than doing it online. No age limit and every activity from A-Z can be covered, together with medical conditions.

Everything went very smoothly

Everything went very smoothly, easy to use website and friendly, efficient telephone service. Hopefully we won’t need to find out if the follow up is as promised, but all seems positive so far.

No problems encountered when obtaining insurance

Form fairly easy to complete, premium reasonable, payment easy to make and documents provided speedily. However, how good you are at paying out if there is a problem, I cannot comment on as I have never had to make a claim (and sincerely hope I never will).

Claims are done by Global response (read their reviews before buying)

Be aware that Global response handle their claims. The reviews for this company are very bad. I've just started a claim and already it is going pear shaped and mirroring others experiences.

Great for identifying medical conditions

Website was really easy to navigate. I tried to get quotes from other providers but despite the fact that they advertise about covering medical conditions Good to Go were the only ones that recognised the two minor conditions I have. Their price was very competitive.

I found your website clear and easy to use. The process of taking up the offer you made was also straight forward. Above all, I was delighted to be able to discuss a few points on the telephone with a charming and helpful HUMAN BEING!! Thank you.

Repeat customers .

As repeat customers , having all our history , names , addresses, card details etc stored in your system, allows us to take out fresh policies as and when . The whole thing is super fast and hassle free. THANK YOU!

How can i possible give an opinion on something i havent used. All ive done is bought an insurance for a future holiday. So i have no idea what the purpose of this request is.

The quote process was very easy

The quote process was very easy, especially inputting my medical conditions. In the past, there have often been no matches, and I end up on a long and tedious phone call. Not a problem here. The price was also excellent.

The company for those with health issues!

A company that helped me when others won’t due to my medical history. Their website and process makes things really easy. Wouldn’t use anyone else now.

Good to Go is Good to Go

I was able to confirm, by a phone call, that my wife’s existing medical condition could be covered. She is being treated for pneumonia. Other companies that advertise they cover existing medical conditions could not provide cover. This was very frustrating as I had to complete a quote request before I could be told that cover could not be provided. Good to Go did exactly as they advertise and covered my wife’s existing medical condition where others companies did not. The online application was quick and easy and all documents emailed to me. Excellent service, I will be using Good to Go next time for my travel insurance.

Very easy to use website. When I had to ring customer service, all the staff were really helpful. Rang me back promptly.

Couldn't have been easier

We applied online for our holiday insurance. The process was quick, easy and straight forward. No problems whatsoever.

goodtogoinsurance was a good choice

I have used goodtogoinsurance previously & found their online site to be easy to navigate & purchase. Also their prices were very reasonable.

Travelex Travel Insurance  offers three plans:

  • Travel Select
  • Travel America

The Travelex America plan is meant for trips limited to the U.S., but it has the highest coverage limits in many areas compared to its other programs. If you're flying somewhere, the lost baggage limits are higher. Its natural strengths shine for road trippers, though. Travelex America adds coverage for roadside service and rental car coverage for unexpected accidents. It also covers pets should you be involved in an accident while on the road.

While your standard auto insurance does extend to car rentals within the U.S. for a limited time, any accident would affect future rates. Travelex would eliminate the risk of reporting to your auto insurance provider for minor incidents within its purview.

Introduction to Travel Insurance

Why travel insurance is a must-have.

The unpredictable nature of traveling – from flight cancellations to medical emergencies – can turn your dream vacation into a nightmare. Travel insurance acts as a personal safeguard, ensuring that unexpected events don't drain your wallet or ruin your trip.

Understanding Different Types of Travel Insurance

Not all travel insurance policies are created equal. From single-trip travel insurance policies to annual travel insurance plans , from minimal coverage to comprehensive protection, understanding the spectrum of options is your first step in finding the right fit for your journey.

Key Features to Look for in Travel Insurance Coverage

Travel insurance for medical emergencies.

Imagine falling ill in a foreign country; daunting, right? A robust travel insurance plan ensures you don't have to worry about how much emergency medical care while traveling will cost, even in the most remote corners of the globe. This coverage will often come in tandem with emergency medical evacuation coverage.

Trip Cancellation and Interruption Benefits

Life is full of surprises, some less pleasant than others. Trip cancellation and interruption coverage ensures that you're not left out of pocket if unforeseen circumstances force you to cancel or cut your trip short. You may also look for cancel for any reason and interruption for any reason options, which will reimburse you for a percentage of your nonrefundable fees, but expands the covered reasons you can cancel a trip. You can find our guide on the best CFAR travel insurance companies here.

Coverage for Personal Belongings and Baggage Loss

Losing your belongings is more than an inconvenience; it's losing a piece of your world. Insurance that covers personal belongings and baggage loss ensures that you're compensated for your loss, helping you to rebound and continue your adventure.

Support and Assistance Services

In times of trouble, having a lifeline can make all the difference. Look for insurance that offers 24/7 support and assistance services, giving you peace of mind that help is just a phone call away. Also, check websites that field customer reviews like Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, and InsureMyTrip , to see how well a company responds to customer requests.

Choosing the Best Travel Insurance

Reputation and reliability of the travel insurance provider.

A provider's reputation is not just about being well-known; it's about reliability, customer satisfaction, and the ability to deliver on promises. Researching and choosing a reputable provider is a cornerstone in ensuring your safety and satisfaction.

Understanding the Policy's Fine Print

The devil is in the details, and understanding the fine print of what your travel insurance policy covers is crucial. Be aware of coverage limits, exclusions, and the process for filing a claim to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Customer Reviews and Feedback

In the age of information, customer reviews and feedback are goldmines of insight. Learn from the experiences of others to gauge the reliability and customer service of the insurance provider you're considering. While the ratings are important, you should also look at whether or not a company responds to customer complaints.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Travel Insurance

Knowing your policy inside out.

Familiarize yourself with every aspect of your policy – what it covers, what it doesn't, how to file a claim, and who to contact in an emergency. Being informed means being prepared.

Steps to Take When a Problem Arises

If you face an issue during your travels, knowing the immediate steps to take can make all the difference. Keep important contacts and your policy details handy, and remember, your insurance provider is there to assist you.

How to Pick the Best Travel Insurance Company for You

There isn't a one-size-fits-all policy that works perfectly for every traveler. Young, healthy solo travelers can opt for much cheaper plans that offer bare-bones coverage, while families juggling complex itineraries will do best by investing in a robust policy that can help defray any costs associated with lost baggage, delayed transportation or other trip-impeding obstacles.

That being said, you can't go wrong with a travel insurance provider that boasts a reputable history and offers a wide range of customizable plans. In some cases, you may be comparing plans that are only a few dollars' apart from each other. In such situations, you should generally opt for the insurance company that offers the strongest customer service. It's also worth considering whether or not the travel insurance provider has been reviewed by other travelers with similar itineraries to your own.

An insurance aggregator like InsureMyTrip or Squaremouth is one of the best tools for searching travel insurance policies. Once you input the specifics of your travel itinerary, you'll be able to see hundreds of search results to compare the ones that catch your eye. If the options are too overwhelming, use the filters to the left of your search page to eliminate as many irrelevant plans as possible.

How We Reviewed the Best Travel Insurance Companies

To come up with our list of the best travel insurance companies, we evaluated each insurer based on the following factors:

Guide Methodology: What We Considered

Policy Types

Travel insurance is essential, but often underused partly because people aren't getting what they want. Business Insider's 2023 travel study showed 10.65% of travelers surveyed bought cancel for any reason insurance. Cost may be a factor, but in many cases, the coverage is more affordable than you might think. Regardless, companies must offer a diverse range of coverage options. We award five stars to companies offering all standard coverages and additional options like pet and sports equipment protection.

Our 2023 travel study indicated the majority of purchases were made through the travel provider (ex: flight protection insurance when you're purchasing your airline tickets). While these may be sufficient for some customers, we look for companies offering a more comprehensive range of services.

According to the U.S. Travel Insurance Association, the average cost of travel insurance will be between 4% and 8% of total travel expenses. Anything beyond that price point should include additional benefits beyond the standard inclusions, such as CFAR protection or upgraded medical coverage. Anything below that 4% threshold may leave you lacking important or sufficient coverage in an emergency.

Convenience and Flexibility

Whether you're an infrequent traveler or a suitcase warrior, a good travel insurance company should have you covered. In many cases, you might not even have to talk to a person in order to purchase your policy.

Many people think of travel insurance in context with specific trips, but most of these top contenders sell both single-trip and multi-trip policies, also known as annual travel insurance. Some companies also offer plans specifically designed for cruisers, students abroad, and business travelers. (Read our guide to the best cruise travel insurance companies for more details.) Finally, all of these providers offer multiple options for getting the specific areas and amounts of coverage that you want.

Claims Handling

Most travelers never have a large claim. Premiums are low, and it provides peace of mind for the just in case situations. So they leave reviews based on their reduced stress levels. But what happens if you lose your luggage or have to stay a few extra days due to an unexpected accident? Will your insurance carrier cover your claim without all the hassle? We check real customer reviews to sort this out for you.

Ease of Use and Support

When purchasing, during your trip, and throughout the claims process, you may need extra support. Does the company have a 24/7 help line? Does it have an online or mobile system allowing you to self-manage? Essentially, what are the options when you need help? We look at the big picture to evaluate the average customer experience with each company.

Best Travel Insurance FAQs

There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution for every traveler. Determine the benefits that are most important to you, like baggage delay coverage, medical coverage, and trip delay coverage, then look for a company with solid customer ratings, especially when it comes to processing claims.

Travel insurance will pay out if you experience a covered event, such as a travel delay or delayed or lost baggage. If you're looking to get travel insurance for a specific reason, such as needing to potentially cancel your trip due to work reasons, make sure your policy will cover you in that situation before purchasing it. You should also check customer reviews to see other travelers' claims experiences, as it varies wildly from company to company.

The average cost of travel insurance is 4% to 8% of your total trip cost, so it could vary widely depending on where you're traveling and the length of your trip. Your age, the number of people in your group, and other factors can also influence how much you'll pay.

Most comprehensive travel insurance policies include travel medical coverage that can come in handy if an emergency occurs and you need medical evacuation. Some travel insurance plans offer more specialized coverage for travelers with pre-existing conditions , so shop around if medical coverage is a top priority for you.

$100,000 should be a sufficient medical coverage limit for travel insurance. If you're planning on doing extreme sports or anything particularly risky on your trip, you may want to increase your coverage level. A high medical coverage limit is especially useful when you're purchasing cruise travel insurance, since medical evacuations are more involved at sea.

Bankrate's take

Good2Go insurance may be a good choice for high-risk drivers who have numerous accidents, tickets or a DUI conviction on their driving records and are looking for minimum coverage policies. The policies are relatively basic, though, and coverage is only available in a handful of states.

  • Company highlights
  • SR-22 forms available
  • Strong list of discounts
  • Advertises itself as a cheap insurer
  • Policies are underwritten by various companies, making it difficult to gauge customer service and financial strength ratings
  • Only writes car insurance policies

Good2Go car insurance review

Finding affordable car insurance can be a challenge for high-risk drivers . Good2Go aims to help these drivers get covered by partnering with various insurance companies. When you shop for a Good2Go policy, be sure to confirm whether the coverage is coming directly from Good2Go or one of its partners . While Good2Go policies meet minimum state requirements , additional coverage options depend on which carrier is underwriting the policy. Good2Go auto insurance is not available in Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Montana or Rhode Island.

One downside of Good2Go is the insurer does not offer a mobile app. However, you can manage your policy, make payments and file claims through its online portal. 24/7 roadside assistance and towing is available by calling Good2Go's emergency or customer service numbers.

Compared to other high-risk insurance companies, Good2Go provides numerous discount opportunities, including multi-car, safe driver and good student. Drivers can also get quotes online and set up SR-22 filings if required by their state after a high-risk incident such as a DUI conviction through Good2Go. Overall, the company aims to provide cheap high-risk auto insurance with more perks than typical nonstandard carriers.

Pros and cons of Good2Go car insurance

If you’re thinking about Good2Go car insurance, here’s a quick breakdown of our take on the company’s pros and cons that might help you compare Good2Go with other car insurance companies :

  • Numerous discount opportunities available compared to other high-risk car insurance companies
  • Online quoting available
  • SR-22 filing available
  • No financial strength ratings to indicate ongoing financial health of the company
  • Receives significantly more complaints than industry average based on performance in National Association of Insurance Commissioners' (NAIC) Complaint Index
  • Not available in all states
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Car insurance cost
  • Car insurance discounts

Good2Go customer satisfaction

Studying third-party customer satisfaction ratings about a car insurance company from a trusted organization like J.D. Power can provide insight about how much the insurer values customer experience. Unfortunately, Good2Go is not scored or ranked in any of J.D. Power’s current studies. The best way to determine what working with Good2Go is like may be by talking with family or friends who are policyholders.

Similarly, financial strength ratings from AM Best can help customers understand whether an insurance company is considered financially sound and has been able to previously meet its claims obligations; Good2Go is not rated by AM Best, so it's hard to say whether it regularly meets its financial obligations

Good2Go auto insurance customer complaints

The NAIC tracks the number of formal complaints filed against an insurance company. 1.00 is the industry average; if a company has a complaint index of 1.00, that means it received the expected amount of complaints for a company of its size. A lower complaint index indicates better customer satisfaction, while an index above 1.00 signals that customer service is an area for improvement.

Since Good2Go is underwritten by nine companies depending on which state you live in, it’s hard to get a handle on its overall complaint index.

One of the companies that underwrites auto insurance for Good2Go, Personal Service Insurance Co., has a relatively high complaint index with the NAIC of 2.98 for 2022, indicating that the company receives nearly three times the amount of complaints expected for a company of its size. Its historical complaint index doesn’t help to improve this, with complaints nearing 10 times the expected volume in 2020.

Good2Go car insurance cost

The national average cost of full coverage car insurance is around $2,311 per year, while minimum coverage averages $640 annually. While we don’t have average rate data for Good2Go, the national average may give you a baseline as you start your search for car insurance. With Good2Go, your rates may also differ depending on whether it insures you directly or partners with another company to underwrite your policy. Since car insurance prices vary by driver based on multiple factors like your age (in most states), driving record, claims history and location, reaching out for a quote is the ideal first step to learn if Good2Go has competitively priced options for your situation compared to alternatives.

Good2Go car insurance discounts

Good2Go’s site lists several common auto insurance discounts . Any of these savings opportunities you are eligible for, if offered in your state, may help you lower your car insurance premium. As high-risk drivers tend to pay relatively high rates, Good2Go’s discounts could be especially valuable. There are 13 ways to save listed on the provider’s site, which is especially impressive for a high-risk insurer. However, potential policyholders should be aware that exact discount offerings may vary based on whether a partner company is writing your policy. Some of the discounts offered by the company include:

  • Good driver discount : You might save with Good2Go if you have avoided accidents and traffic violations within a certain amount of time.
  • Prior insurance discount : Showing proof that you have had car insurance for the past six months with no lapses might get you a lower rate with Good2Go.
  • Good student discount : If you have a child on your policy who goes to school full time and has at least a B grade average, you might qualify for a discount.
  • Homeownership discount : You might save with Good2Go if you own a house, condo or mobile home.

Car insurance is a personalized purchase. The best car insurance company for you will likely vary based on your wants and needs. Even high-risk drivers usually have more than one option for coverage, depending on which state they live in.

If you aren’t sure if Good2Go is the right fit for you, you might consider exploring these other carriers.

Good2Go vs. The General

The General is another company that may work for high-risk drivers. Good2Go is not available in all states, but The General offers coverage in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., so it could be a good option if Good2Go isn’t offered in your area.

Good2Go vs. Progressive

Progressive took home the 2024 Bankate Award for Best Auto Insurance Company for High-Risk Drivers for its competitive prices, 24/7 claims and customer service and highly rated digital tools. Progressive is available in all 50 states, plus, it also offers home and life insurance , which can be appealing for those looking to bundle. That said, Progressive relies on other companies to underwrite its home and life policies, which could complicate the claims process.

Good2Go vs. Direct Auto

Car insurance for high-risk drivers is typically more expensive compared to drivers with a clean driving record. If you’re looking for an extensive discount list similar to Good2Go’s, Direct Auto offers numerous savings opportunities for its customers to save on insurance costs.

  • Is Good2Go a good insurance company?

For high-risk drivers seeking budget-friendly coverage, Good2Go is one option to explore. However, it's important to note that with Good2Go, minimum liability limits may be the only coverage available depending on your state and which insurance company ultimately underwrites your policy. Good2Go also offers limited ways to customize your policy beyond state minimums, so if full coverage and customization is your priority, you may want to look elsewhere.

Its reduced customer service hours could also make filing a claim difficult if an accident occurs outside regular business times. If obtaining a car insurance quote through Good2Go, be sure to double check if Good2Go or a partner carrier is providing coverage so you know who to contact for any questions or claims issues.

What are real-life customers saying about Good2Go?

Third-party insurance ratings are helpful, but can only get you so far. To get a more accurate sense of Good2Go’s customer service, Bankrate looked at real-world reviews from Reddit, an online discussion forum. The general consensus surrounding Good2Go car insurance isn’t great. Multiple Good2Go customers mentioned switching to help save money, but felt disappointed when it came time to file a claim .

Good2Go company details

  • Customer service: Varies depending on your insurance carrier, but Good2Go’s general hotline is 1-877-200-9912
  • Claims: 1-800-777-6664
  • Claims mailing address: Good2Go Auto Insurance PO Box 1890, Blue Bell, PA 19422-0479

Good2Go car insurance is available in all states except AK, HI, KS, MA, MT and RI

Good2Go tools and benefits

Since Good2Go is aimed at providing cheap car insurance to high-risk drivers, its operations are pretty bare-bones and there are no other services or products listed on its website. If you want to learn more about any additional services offered by the company, you may want to contact it directly.

How do I file a claim with Good2Go?

To file a claim with Good2Go, the company suggests first checking which insurance company provides your car insurance coverage. If your policy is with Good2Go, you can call its hotline at 1-800-777-6664 between the hours of 8 AM and 7:30 PM EST, Monday to Friday, or 9AM to 5PM EST on Saturday. Spanish-speaking service is available from 9AM to 5:30PM EST, Monday to Friday. The claims office is closed on Sundays. If your policy is with a partner company, Good2Go provides contact numbers for those carriers on its website.

Why doesn’t Good2Go have a Bankrate Score?

We strive to assign our proprietary Bankrate Score to every insurance company we review. A crucial part of our rating process includes analyzing average rates and customer service metrics from reputable third-party rating services. However, average rates are unavailable from Good2Go, and its use of multiple underwriting companies makes it more difficult to hone in on its policy quality. Thus, we were unable to include a Bankrate Score in our Good2Go insurance review.

Methodology

Bankrate utilizes Quadrant Information Services to analyze the latest rates in June 2024 for ZIP codes and carriers in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Rates include the most recent approved rate changes filed by insurance companies that affect our profile. These revised rates are then weighted based on the population density in each geographic region so that policyholders can see the impact rates have in their areas.

Quoted rates are based on a 40-year-old male and female driver with a clean driving record, good credit and the following full coverage limits:

  • $100,000 bodily injury liability per person
  • $300,000 bodily injury liability per accident
  • $50,000 property damage liability per accident
  • $100,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per person
  • $300,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per accident
  • $500 collision deductible
  • $500 comprehensive deductible

To determine minimum coverage limits, Bankrate used minimum coverage that meets each state’s requirements. Our base profile drivers own a 2022 Toyota Camry, commute five days a week and drive 12,000 miles annually.

These are sample rates and should only be used for comparative purposes.

Sailing Trip May 2022 St. Lucia

May 2022 St. Lucia 1 month sailing trip medical insurance. Having bought several policies over several years and never required treatment or claims. On my last trip I had a problem with a trapped nerve in my lower back. This is where everything falls apart. Don’t try and use any local medical services unless they are free (pointless). I was in St. Lucia and there are no free medical services anyway. From the get go the claims department intention was how NOT to pay my £600 claim. Pitiful. Shameful. I will NEVER use them again. As an insurance they are great so long as you don’t actually use them. Brilliant.

No cover for private treatment.

Wife and myself, 82 and 80 years. As the European Health Insurance card ensures free medical services at Public facilities why do you require details of my medical history and medication? Each declared condition added additional costs, we paid £570 for two weeks last November and five weeks February to March 2023. Your policy excludes Private medical treatment. As Public hospital treatment costs nothing Good2Go have no liability. £570 seems extortionate for basic travel cover which excludes medical costs. Or, 'am I missing something?'

Pros & Cons

Lots of discounts.

Can file an SR-22 if you need one.

Far more than the expected number of consumer complaints.

Financial stability concerns.

History of penalties from state regulators.

NerdWallet was not able to rate Good2Go for overall performance because there is no financial strength rating information available for the company. NerdWallet’s ratings are determined by our editorial team. The scoring formula takes into account consumer experience, complaint data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and financial strength ratings.

Good2Go has an unusual and complex operating structure. The name refers to an insurance agency as well as several insurance companies owned by the same firm. Good2Go sells policies through its own member companies as well as outside partners, so it may be unclear which company you’re getting a quote from until you enter some of your personal data.

Regulators in at least three states have found fault with the business practices of companies that operate under the Good2Go brand. In addition, financial strength ratings agencies have raised concerns about the companies’ abilities to pay claims.

NerdWallet recommends exploring all alternatives before considering Good2Go. If you’re shopping for minimum required car insurance , you have many options that are likely to be better choices.

Why you can trust NerdWallet: Our writers and editors follow strict editorial guidelines to ensure fairness and accuracy in our coverage so you can choose the insurance policy that works best for you. These carrier ratings are specific to auto insurance — a company's rating for other products may be different on our site. See our criteria for evaluating auto insurance companies .

In our auto insurance reviews, our editorial team considers both the customer and the insurer. These are some of the factors we take into account:

Financial strength. We use A.M. Best ratings to confirm an insurer’s long-term financial stability and ability to pay claims. NerdWallet does not recommend companies with a rating lower than a B.

Complaints. These ratings are based on complaints to state regulators relative to a company’s size, according to three years’ worth of data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. The best auto insurance companies have fewer than the expected number of complaints.

Ease of use. This category looks at how easily consumers can interact with an insurer through its mobile app and website. This includes how much coverage information is offered online, whether a user can start and track a claim online and get a quote and mobile app scores based on the Apple and Google Play store ratings.

Discounts. We look at both the kind of discounts a company offers and the total number of discounts available.

You can begin a quote online and by phone, and Good2Go is licensed to sell insurance in all states except Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Montana and Rhode Island. Some of the policies sold by Good2Go come from insurers that are under the same ownership as the Good2Go agency:

American Independent Insurance.

Apollo Casualty.

Omni Indemnity.

Omni Insurance.

Good2Go also offers policies from partner companies, including several that provide quotes online and specialize in covering high-risk drivers. Good2Go’s partners include:

Bristol West .

Dairyland .

Kemper / Infinity .

Progressive , one of the nation’s largest auto insurance companies.

Good2Go auto insurance coverage

When you're shopping for car insurance coverage, it's important to understand what coverage you want and what you’re required to buy. For instance, most states require a minimum amount of car insurance to drive a vehicle. Alternatively, if you want extra protection, you may be interested in full coverage insurance. Read about the most common types of car insurance coverage to see how they work.

Although Good2Go focuses on selling liability insurance to high-risk drivers, the agency also offers optional comprehensive and collision coverage. If you owe money on a car loan or lease, your lender may require this coverage, which pays to repair or replace your car if it’s stolen or damaged, no matter who is at fault.

Good2Go also offers:

Roadside assistance , including coverage for towing.

SR-22 availability. You can get an SR-22 form, a document that your state may require to prove you have insurance after a DUI or some other serious violation.

Good2Go says it can provide immediate proof of insurance when you buy a policy.

Auto insurance discounts

Good2Go has a hefty list of discounts, but not all are available in every state or from every company Good2Go represents. Depending on the policy, you may be offered discounts for:

Insuring more than one vehicle.

Paying your premium in full, upfront.

Owning your home.

Having good grades, if you or someone insured on your policy is a student.

Renewing your policy with Good2Go.

Taking a defensive driving class.

Completing a driver’s education course if you or a driver on your policy is under age 24.

Avoiding accidents and traffic violations.

Having been insured at least six months in a row with your previous insurer.

Not owning a vehicle. (You would be covered when driving one you rented or borrowed.)

Driving a car with safety features like air bags.

Driving a car with a built-in anti-theft system.

Having your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) etched onto its windows, making the car less appealing to thieves.

More about Good2Go auto insurance

Website: The Good2Go website explains car insurance requirements for each state, including drunk driving penalties, SR-22 requirements, consequences of driving without car insurance, and laws about texting or using a cell phone while driving. The insurer's website also offers the option to log in to see policy information and make payments. However, Good2Go doesn’t offer a mobile app for managing policies.

Methodology

Insurer complaints methodology

NerdWallet examined complaints received by state insurance regulators and reported to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in 2020-2022. To assess how insurers compare to one another, the NAIC calculates a complaint index each year for each subsidiary, measuring its share of total complaints relative to its size, or share of total premiums in the industry. To evaluate a company’s complaint history, NerdWallet calculated a similar index for each insurer, weighted by market shares of each subsidiary, over the three-year period. NerdWallet conducts its data analysis and reaches conclusions independently and without the endorsement of the NAIC. Ratios are determined separately for auto, home (including renters and condo) and life insurance.

Auto insurance ratings methodology

NerdWallet’s auto insurance ratings reward companies for customer-first features and practices. Ratings are based on weighted averages of scores in several categories, including financial strength, consumer complaints and discounts. Our “ease of use” category looks at factors such as website transparency and how easy it is to file a claim. Using our editorial discretion, we also consider customer satisfaction surveys. These ratings are a guide, but we encourage you to shop around and compare several insurance quotes to find the best rate for you. NerdWallet does not receive compensation for any reviews.
