It's Game of Thrones... but you know... FOR KIDS!

In all seriousness I will not give this a rating as I only saw two VHSs I dug up from my grandparents' place that didn't have episode titles or anything and was dubbed in what I assume was nynorsk.

Thought it was great for the most part, loved the animation style and vibe of the whole thing, felt like a warm blanket (until it kicks you in the balls). Characters are pretty good, favorites are Badger, Fox, and Mole. Weasel is annoying but she can be funny at times, Adder started off rough but I came around to liking her by the end, everyone else gets some screen time but not really enough. The show is pretty infamous for killing off characters and I’ll admit I got a little stressed watching certain scenes because it kills characters off without thought sometimes, so it almost never feels safe. Issues with the show are sometimes they reuse animation a lot and same with sound effects, story could’ve been tighter and the pacing was slow sometimes, but I came out really loving this first season, can’t wait to watch season 2.

Game of Thrones but with animals. Yeah this series surprised me, I remember watching this as a kid and even reading a few of the books but I could never remember the name of it. After re-watching the whole series recently it really did surprise me how well made and written it was. Some of the elements and characters are cringe but when the show gets good it really does get good. I'm reviewing this specifically for the British version because the redubbed American one is just trash. Shame that the series doesn't really get talked that much about any more but it definitely did leave a pretty big impact of my childhood and apparently many others as its developed…

Having agreed to travel together to White Deer Park , the animals meet together at the Great Beech to begin the journey, though the pheasants aren't too happy about it. Unfortunately, Mole refuses to join his fellow animals after hearing Adder call him slow. As the rest of the animals begin the journey, Badger waits behind and is able to persuade Mole that he won't be a burden, especially as he will be allowed to ride of Badger’s back.

Owl is sent to find water and the animals come across a house with a swimming pool. Toad and the newts go for a swim whilst the other animals drink the water. The smaller animals use Fox and Badger as a bridge to get to the water and Weasel holds Adder in her mouth to help her drink, but drops her in the pool. The lights in the house come on and the animals scarper after Fox has saved Adder from the pool using a stick.

After a whole night of walking, the animals become tired and begin looking for a safe place to rest. Kestrel is able to locate some army land on which they can sleep, but the animals must first cross a road in order to reach it. Luckily, they are all able to cross and reach the army land, despite the fact that both Adder and Toad (on separate occasions) were close to being been run over, saved only by Badger and Fox (with the help of Owl), respectively. Having safely reached the army land, the animals settle down to sleep.

• This episode marks the first appearance of Mrs Hedgehog and Baby Newt , who were both absent from the assembly in the previous episode.
• On "The Journey Begins" VHS, all connections leading up to the animals' first adventure in the swimming pool are removed.

The Animals of Farthing Wood

Doch dieser Weg ist keineswegs von Freude begleitet - die Tiere erleben, was es heisst, in kurzer Zeit viele gute Freunde zu verlieren und auch in der neuen Heimat wollen die Probleme nicht abreissen. Es müssen viele ihr Leben lassen, bevor endlich Frieden einkehren kann...

This animated series is based on the books by Colin Dann. It follows a group of animals who are forced to leave their home in Farthing Wood as it is being destroyed by humans and journey to a wildlife sanctuary called White Deer Park. With the long and dangerous journey ahead of them the animals take the Oath of Protection. This means that they must protect and help one another and most importantly not eat one another. Following their guide Toad and their leader Fox, the animals consisting of predators like Owl, Kestrel, Badger and Adder and smaller animals like Rabbits, Hares and Mice take off on a journey that will not only make them legends but friends as well.

Menacés à la fois par l’homme et la sécheresse, contraints de fuir pour sauver leurs vies, les animaux n’eurent plus qu’un seul espoir : parvenir à rallier le Parc du Daim Blanc, une réserve naturelle où tous pourront vivre en paix. Devant l’importance de la crise, ils décidèrent d’établir un pacte, et s’engagèrent à s’unir et à s’entraider pour atteindre ensemble leur destination. Reniant leurs instincts de prédateurs, les plus grands animaux promirent d’aider les plus petits et de les protéger pour la durée du voyage.
