It was terrible. We waited in line for 4 hours to park didn't move more than 1 mile and then they postponed the show instead of canceling so we couldn't get a refund to attend his other show coming to Michigan. I bought tickets to the show because I figured a farm show would be less people to take my 7 year old daughter there was 20,000 people supposed to be in attendance. I would have never bought them if I would have known there'd be so many and such unorganized chaos.

I thoroughly enjoyed his concert. In fact he puts on the best concert I've ever been to. He gave it his all and I was not disappointed. In fact I upgraded my GA ticket to VIP and I'm soooo glad I did because I was all the way up front and he came down the stairs to where I was to give this little girl a hug for her Birthday and I got to see him up really close face to face and touched his chest. It doesn't get any better than that since I am a BIG fan. I LOVE LUKE BRYAN and I am already planning on seeing him again when I can for a meet and greet next time!!!

I want to tell everyone that you need to go to a Luke bryan concert he is awesome the most honest and amazing moment for me in the concert was when he went to the piano and he set down and sang DRINK A BEER he was just like sitting there pouring out his heart to us and I love this song it makes me think about my husband 2years ago he passed away and this song reminds me of him it makes me think about the times you had together and you can remember them too and I know that Luke sings this song in memory of his BROTHER and sister that he lost and he will never know that he is touching his fans like me you see I don't drink beer or anything else but that song holds a lot of memories...I would love to meet Luke bryan someday to talk to him tell him that he does touch his fans ...but just a dream anyway if you can go see Luke go you will love it

Luke Bryan’s 2021 Tour Will Begin in Early July

By Joseph Hudak

Joseph Hudak

Luke Bryan has announced a 36-date tour for 2021. The Proud to Be Right Here Tour is scheduled to begin July 8th at the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview, an outdoor venue in Syracuse, New York. Bryan’s run is the latest in a flurry of country tours to be announced in the last few days and, with its early July launch date, will tentatively put the newly crowned ACM Entertainer of the Year back on the road before any of his peers.

Bryan’s tour will play mostly outdoor venues, including Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on July 9th; Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on July 22nd; and the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. But, notably, Bryan will head indoors for his July 30th Nashville homecoming at the Bridgestone Arena. He’s also set to play the indoor Staples Center in L.A. on October 8th.

Dylan Scott, Caylee Hammack, Runaway June, and DJ Rock are among the support acts on the tour. Scott is on all dates except from July 8th through 18, while Hammack is on all dates through August 14th. She’ll be replaced by Runaway June beginning August 19th. Morgan Wallen was originally supposed to join Bryan on the run, but the country singer announced in April that he’d be taking the summer off from touring, including Bryan’s tour, following the controversy that defined his year.

Bryan, who is also a judge on American Idol , accepted his Entertainer of the Year title at last week’s ACM Awards remotely from L.A. after testing positive for Covid-19. He was originally slated to perform in a pretaped segment on the ACMs.

The Proud to Be Right Here Tour begins at least a full week before the tours of any of Bryan’s contemporaries. Chris Stapleton is scheduled to begin his tour July 17th at Wrigley Field in Chicago; Brothers Osborne launch their run July 29th in Philadelphia; Thomas Rhett takes the stage in Alabama on August 13th; and Kane Brown starts up his trek on October 1st in Sacramento. Eric Church will kick off his arena tour on September 17th in Kentucky.

Luke Bryan may well have ascended to nationwide celebrity status as a result of his long-time role as a judge on American Idol. But don't for one minute think he's forgotten his down-home country roots - or how to lead a good old arena-wide hoedown.

Bryan kicked off his 2023 Country On tour in June, which will take the Georgia native and his arsenal of hits across states such as New York, Oregon, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho and more.

Before that, though, fans have had a number of chances to see the ‘One Margarita’ hitmaker performing live, with Bryan also making appearances at Stagecoach in April and the iHeartCountry Festival in May.

Here you can find Luke Bryan's updated setlist as he embarks on his 2023 concert tour.

From the looks of his 2023 setlist so far, if you're heading to a Luke Bryan concert, rest assured it'll be jam-packed with celebratory, party-starting anthems.

These include the likes of ‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’, ‘Drink a Beer’ and ‘Kick the Dust Up’, along with Bryan's most recent No. 1 single, ‘Country On’, which provided the inspiration for his 2023 tour name.

With Bryan being the affable charmer that he is, he unsurprisingly leaves room in his setlist for a healthy dose of romance. This year, ticket-holders have been excited to see the singer-songwriter delivering live renditions of ‘Knockin’ Boots’, ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye’ and ‘I See You’, the latter of which has been serving as his set closer.

Tickets to Luke Bryan's 2023 concert tour are available now, and can be purchased below:

Pro Tips When Buying Your Tickets

First, on the day of the presale or general onsale (whichever you prefer), login to your Ticketmaster account ( go to my account or sign in located on the upper right corner of the page ) at least 15 minutes ahead of the sale time. If you don’t have one,  create one now .

Be sure to add your billing info (aka credit card info) before jumping into the digital queue for a quick check-out. Once the presale starts, remain in the digital queue. Only use one browser window because using multiple browsers or devices and multiple accounts with the same phone number can result in errors. Trust, it’s happened to us before! Don’t refresh your page, do be patient, don’t leave your page, do get those tickets!

What To Do If Tickets Are Sold Out?

If tickets sell out, your other option is to buy them via online resellers like VividSeats or StubHub. When all else fails, we prefer these resell options because both offer a 100% Guarantee. You can also purchase resell tickets through Ticketmaster’s resell program. Just search for the concert or event you want to attend , and see if they have any resell tickets available. We recommend you compare the three options and find out which works best for you.

Alternatively, you can hit it old school style and show up at the concert when the box office opens and wish upon a star that they release more tickets, or hopefully, another concert-goer has an extra ticket to sell at face-value or even giveaway for free. Trust, this happens more often than not! We’ve given away many tickets to sold-out shows simply because our +1 couldn’t make it.

Also, more standard tickets are often released via Ticketmaster 1-3 days leading up to the show date. We’ve seen it with Beyonce , Taylor Swift , Arctic Monkeys and many more! It’s a secret gatekeeped by many, but if you’re reading this, now you know! So be sure to set your calendar notifications!

Quick Facts

Early life and career, albums and hit songs, award-winning artist, american idol judge, tv special and noted performances, charity work, wife and kids, who is luke bryan.

Luke Bryan found professional success as a songwriter before delivering his debut album, I'll Stay Me , in 2007. He followed with the acclaimed albums Doin' My Thing, Tailgates & Tanlines, Crash My Party and Kill the Lights , the last of which produced a record-breaking six No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. In late 2017, Bryan released his fourth album to top the Billboard Top 200, What Makes You Country, before debuting as a judge for a revived American Idol early the following year.

FULL NAME: Thomas Luther Bryan BORN: July 17, 1976 BIRTHPLACE: Leesburg, Georgia SPOUSE: Caroline Bryan (2006-present) CHILDREN: Bo, Tate, Jordan, Kris, and Til ASTROLOGICAL SIGN: Cancer

Born Thomas Luther Bryan in Leesburg, Georgia, on July 17, 1976, Bryan grew up the youngest son of a farmer. Always interested in music, Bryan was raised on his parents’ record collection, which included such country artists as George Strait , Conway Twitty, and Merle Haggard.

When he was 14, Bryan’s parents bought him a guitar, and it wasn’t long before he was good enough on the instrument, and with his voice, to begin sitting in with local musicians. In high school, Bryan performed in musicals and wrote his own songs, which he sang with a band he started.

When he was just 19 and ready for his big move to Nashville, Tennessee, his world was rocked when his older brother, Chris, was killed in a car accident.

Following his brother’s death, Bryan put his Nashville dreams on hold and continued his education at Georgia Southern University to be close to his family. He also kept busy by working on his father’s peanut farm and playing with a new band at night on campus and in local bars.

Bryan burned to pursue a musical career, and he wrote songs continually, releasing a self-produced album during this period. His father saw Bryan’s dream slipping away, and he knew there was only one way to get Bryan back on track: He told his son to pack up his truck and hit the road to Tennessee or he was fired.

Bryan moved to Nashville in 2001, quickly landing a songwriting contract with a local publishing house. He earned writing credits for some of country music’s top artists , including Travis Tritt. At night, he performed his own music at local clubs, and when an A&R rep from Capitol Records saw him perform one night, Bryan was signed to the label.

I’ll Stay Me

Bryan introduced himself to a wider audience with “All My Friends Say,” the lead single from his debut album, I’ll Stay Me (2007). The song spent more than 30 weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, peaking of No. 5, while “We Rode in Trucks” and “Country Man” also earned favorable receptions, propelling the album to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Doin’ My Thing

After kicking off Doin' My Thing (2009) with “Do I,” a legitimate crossover hit, Bryan scored his first two No. 1 country singles with “Rain Is a Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby.” Doin’ My Thing became his second straight album to reach the No. 2 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Tailgates & Tanlines

Bryan made his fans wait another two years for Tailgates & Tanlines (2011), an album that cemented his standing as one of the top artists in the business. Several tracks—including “I Don’t Want This Night to End,” “Drunk on You,” and “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye”—became No. 1 country hits.

He followed with Spring Break...Here to Party (2013), an album of tracks from previous EPs, as well as the new songs “Buzzkill” and “Just a Sip.”

Crash My Party

Bryan notched a whopping five No. 1 singles on Billboard ’s Country Airplay chart with his fourth studio effort Crash My Party (2013). Among its celebrated tracks are “Drink a Beer,” which the artist has described as “the coolest sad song ever,” and “Play It Again.” In late 2019, Crash My Party was honored as the Academy of Country Music’s Album of the Decade.

Kill the Lights

Bryan’s fifth studio album, Kill the Lights (2015), was noted for showcasing the artist in a quieter, more contemplative light. The result was an unprecedented level of success, as a record-breaking six singles, including “Kick the Dust Up,” “Strip It Down,” and “Fast,” went on to top the Country Airplay chart.

What Makes You Country

Following the release of his new single “Light It Up,” Bryan debuted his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, What Makes You Country , in December 2017. He dropped the album’s second single, “Most People Are Good,” shortly before embarking on the What Makes You Country Tour in February 2018.

Beginning with his Academy of Country Music wins for top new vocalist and artist, Bryan has racked up a truckload of awards since his first album. He claimed a whopping nine wins at the 2012 American Country Awards and has earned Entertainer of the Year honors from both the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association. Bryan has also taken home trophies from the American Country Countdown Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

In September 2017, Bryan was announced as one of the judges for a reboot of American Idol , rounding out a panel that also featured pop star Katy Perry and veteran crooner Lionel Richie .

Prior to the show’s debut in March 2018, Bryan admitted to Good Morning America that he was no Simon Cowell when it came to dashing the dreams of hopeful artists. “It’s a little out of my comfort zone to just pick people apart, but you have to,” he said. “It’s what you signed up for.”

In November 2017, Bryan shared the stories of his triumphs and tragedies and provided a look at his life offstage with the special Living Every Day: Luke Bryan .

The artist made his debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry in 2007, and 10 years later, he was the first to perform at the Opry’s “home away from home” at the Opry City Stage in New York City’s Times Square. Earlier that year, he sang the national anthem at Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium in Houston.

When he’s not touring or recording new music, Bryan works with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He has also raised funds for his hometown YMCA in honor of his brother and sister.

Bryan began dating his future wife, Caroline Boyer, while the two were attending Georgia Southern University in 1998. Although they soon split up, they rekindled the relationship a few years later. Married in December 2006, they went on to have two sons, Thomas “Bo” and Tatum “Tate” Bryan.

In 2007, his sister, Kelly, suddenly and mysteriously died, the autopsy unable to provide a cause. Then, in 2014, Kelly’s husband also unexpectedly passed, leaving the three surviving children with no parents. Noting, “We never thought twice about it,” Caroline and Bryan soon became the guardians for their nieces and nephew .

Luke Bryan talks Beyoncé, Cowboy Carter and country music's crossover appeal

Luke Bryan is as much a chart-topping country star as he is a steward of Nashville's massive socio-economic boom.

Both his success and Music City's rise to America's next great city-as-homage to the power of the American dollar are driven by a seemingly non-stop party that, at its root, is inspired by either the actuality of or claiming association with the notion that blue-collar labor (or being attached to its stereotypes) is deserving of wild celebration.

The five-time Entertainer of the Year, awarded by the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association, has released two singles in the first quarter of 2024. There's the Jon Pardi collaboration "Cowboys and Plowboys," plus his solo track "Love You, Miss You, Mean It."

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

He spoke with The Tennessean on April 1.

Success breeds opportunity

A decade ago, he achieved a success level similar to Luke Combs via 13 consecutive No. 1 singles on country radio. Fascinatingly, the decade between 2013 and 2023 marks an era when Bryan and Combs' dominance bridged the era between the marketing and selling of physical units and the surge in streaming as the defining success in country music.

Combs, via his Category 10 honky-tonk on Lower Broadway, is at the place that Bryan arrived at after his run of 13 No. 1s in 2019, which led to the opening of his 32 Bridge establishment.

About 32 Bridge's connection to the recent passing of  University of Missouri student Riley Strain , who was found dead on March 22 in the Cumberland River, Bryan maintains his statement from March 14 that the incident was "scary," and the official statement shared one day later by the venue's owners, TC Restaurant Group,

Bryan, however, has surged forward in a manner proportional to the stunning level of pop ubiquity country music stars like Morgan Wallen have achieved via a new level of hit-making prowess — what Luke Bryan did in five years and Luke Combs achieved in three, Wallen has almost matched in 18 months.

"Historically, country music's appeal has been built on hard-working artists humbly making songs that tell their stories to country then, hopefully, mainstream audiences, in the most honest manner possible," Bryan says. "Over the past 20 years, the country and mainstream music industries have recognized that stereotyping the types of artists who (humbly make country songs) limits us in a space where a relevant artist can look and sound like a rapper, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Conway Twitty or Morgan Wallen."

'Country Girl''s impact

He offers a fascinating perspective on country's slow desire to accept mainstream culture's surge into its ranks.

It took three years for his 2011-released single "Country Girl (Shake it for Me)" to become one of the top-five best-selling songs of all time by a male country music solo artist. Given that Nashville is a city famed for adapting to and overcorrecting for mirror trends, the idea that the next three years for Nashville would include the "TomatoGate" scandal, wherein a country radio executive referred to women as the garnishes to the genre's radio formats-as-salad makes sense.

Bryan is willing to accept that country's executives must work harder to broaden the genre again in the fallout from his own rise.

For Bryan, that broadening, including Beyoncé's just-released "Cowboy Carter" album, is "amazing and great."

He doubles down by identifying that artists from outside the genre's stereotypes and traditions, like Jelly Roll and Post Malone, are more in tune with how society interacts with music in a world where streaming's commercial and social impact grows daily.

"The quicker we (as artists and creatives) can intersect, intermingle and work together, stereotypes get removed and we grow and progress as a culture, industry and society," he says.

Maintaining a tireless work ethic

Almost 100 years after economist John Maynard Keynes estimated that technological change and productivity improvements would make a 15-hour, four-day workweek possible, Bryan is perhaps the best person to prove that notion true.

"My kids see me on television, on tours, or before I go fishing and play golf," he says. "They don't understand that meetings, phone calls and Zoom calls are me at work and not just knocking around the house during the day. (My career) is all still very confusing to them."

In 2025, Bryan's "Crash My Playa" festival in Quintana Roo, Mexico, will turn 10 years old, while his "Farm Tour" concept, which aims to create scholarships for students from farming families to attend local community colleges, will have granted almost 100 scholarships in nearly 15 years.

He's entering his third consecutive year hosting the CMA Awards (twice alongside NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning). He's also in his seventh season as a celebrity judge on ABC's "American Idol."

Notably, 2021 "Idol" winner Chayce Beckham has been incubated as a mainstream country talent, opening for Bryan for the past three years. That work has led to Beckham's nearly 3-year-old single "23" finally topping country's radio charts.

Beckham joins Carrie Underwood as an "American Idol"-winning country star who achieved chart-topping success on their mainstream debuts after their victories.

"As long as the show feels like it's fresh, fun and reinventing itself, plus developing artists who can break into music successfully, then I won't feel like I'm spinning my wheels by remaining" on ('American Idol')," Bryan says.

Not entirely content there, an afternoon spent golfing with emerging country star ERNEST and joking about the performer's friendship with unlikely breakout crossover star Jelly Roll earned him a songwriting credit — and music video appearance — in ERNEST and Jelly Roll's duet "I Went to College / I Went to Jail."

Maintaining relevancy

Bryan is also keenly aware that an era that saw him and Jason Aldean achieve nearly 60 No. 1 singles in 20 years has evolved. Now, the music industry's broad democratization allows artists to be mainstream, underground and almost solely radio, streaming, or touring-friendly in their approach to success.

"Gaining the eyeballs to make people take notice of your artistry," as Bryan says, is a much more difficult road than ever before.

But it's also one that, for Bryan, feels very familiar and why he became an artist in the first place.

Bryan is now a 47-year-old father of teenagers with similarly aged nieces and nephews. Notably, the artists he's championing on the road include 20-something country artists like Ashley Cooke, the previously mentioned Beckham, Jackson Dean, Kameron Marlowe and Alana Springsteen.

"I'm nurturing where younger artists are at in the infancy of their careers and helping them navigate the anticipation of watching a single go up the charts," says Bryan, who fondly recalls his days opening for Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw almost 20 years ago.

"Paying it forward is pretty special stuff," Bryan says. "Diving in there and getting artists ready to hopefully mirror the type of success I've had as classy and savvy artists with integrity is important."

He then pauses as his career and what's next come into a full-circle focus.

"Just like I did when I was a teenager, my son thinks he's sneaking off and listening to rap songs," Bryan says, "but just like I did, those songs, along with say Alan Jackson songs, are the songs that speak most directly to who I am uniquely, living my life. No matter how country music develops, it's a genre that can, by being built on authentic, natural songs, break molds and make people mad. But it also welcomes so many more people who want to smile and have fun.

"I wasn't a naturally gifted performer. I've grown from being all over the map, from being a singer in bars in Statesboro, Georgia, to being a focused, high-level professional recording artist. Because of that focus, I've been able to avoid un-inventing and reinventing (my art and brand). I still feel as inspired and relevant to everything happening at all levels of the music industry as I've ever been."

Katy Perry Opens Up About Leaving American Idol

She's excited to get back to touring.

The Big Picture

  • Katy Perry is leaving American Idol to tour, feeling complacent and wanting to reignite her passion.
  • American Idol judges Richie and Bryan are staying, understanding and supportive of Perry's departure.
  • Perry's replacement will need to put up with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, while she continues to shine on the current season.

Katy Perry shocked the American Idol fan base on February 12 when she announced that she was leaving the competition to get back out into the world and tour. After seven seasons, Perry, 39, who's been a fixture on the new reiteration of the Idol show on ABC, has decided to say "goodbye" to the young hopefuls, host Ryan Seacrest and her fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan after the end of the current season. On the Friday, April 12 segment of Good Morning America , the Fireworks singer opened up about what is to come and why she has made this decision.

Perry, who had nothing but good things to say about the franchise, opened up about how American Idol "healed her heart." She also got emotional while revealing that she and her fellow judges truly do connect with the people who end up living out their dreams on the show. Not only because of the immense talent that the singers, and quite often songwriters, possess but also because they can "really see ourselves in them." That's also partly the reason why Perry felt the urge to step out and get back into her touring ritual. Being an integral part of the competition also revealed that she can get "complacent" at times and that the contestants give her that fighting spirit again, as well as the "passion." She also reveals that she is excited to bring her daughter Daisy Dove on the road.

What Do The Fellow 'American Idol' Judges Think About Her Departure?

Katy Perry rose to fame in 2008 with One of The Boys , a pop-rock record that included her massive hits I Kissed a Girl and Hot n Cold . Since then, she has been one of the most recognizable names in the pop world. Never one to shy away from the glitz and glam, Perry did bring her love for theatrical antics and stellar outfits to American Idol , which is why the next season will definitely miss the superstar. She is also the first out of the three judges of the ABC version to leave the show. Richie, 74, and Bryan, 47, are both staying. Although Richie did mention that he understands why Perry is doing this. "The reason I love coming on the show with you and the reason I’m doing American Idol is because I have 400 years of stories and a life in the music business. I have things that I’ve done," before he continued saying on Jimmy Kimmel Live that, "And so when Katy says, ‘I want to go and create some stories,’ remember, she’s young. But the point is that you have to take some time and actually be an artist." Bryan, who Perry seems to get on with quite well on the show, also commented on her departure by admitting on Taste of Country "that it wasn't a huge shock," and that he had heard the whispers for a while.

There's no love lost between the judges as Perry has a special message for the person who'll take her place. While gesturing to Richie and Bryan, she says that her replacement needs to be someone "who can put up with Luke and Lionel," while following up with an important message "Keep my seat warm." Katy Perry will still be able to shine as a judge on the current season of American Idol as the show is going into the live segment.

American Idol airs Sundays at 8:00 pm on ABC. Episodes are available to stream the next day on Hulu.

Tennessee is the first state to enact AI regulations in music; other artists want the same

Tennessee made history in March by becoming the first state in the country to enact protections for artists against the misuse of artificial intelligence. The Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security Act, or ELVIS act, enacts voice protections against deepfakes and unauthorized uses of artists' voices and likenesses.

In March, Gov. Bill Lee, flanked by Tennessee lawmakers and musicians, signed the bill into law at Robert's Western World.

"There are certainly many things that are positive about what AI does," Lee said. "It also, when fallen into the hands of bad actors, it can destroy this industry."

Alon Yamin, co-founder and CEO of Copyleaks , an AI-based text analysis platform, said the ELVIS act is a "step in the right direction."

"This is happening in one state [Tennessee] but this is something that can happen all over the world, and I think it's going to be a bigger issue actually," Yamin said. "Taking these next steps is a step in the right direction."

Yamin said that while AI is a powerful tool which can provide access to data and information, it's important to have detection capabilities in place that are able to identify where AI is being misused, to leverage AI for the benefits and good things that the technology is capable of.

What is the ELVIS act?

Lee proposed the ELVIS Act in January.

The act adds artists' voices to the state's current Protection of Personal Rights law and can be criminally enforced by district attorneys as a Class A misdemeanor. Artists — and anyone else with exclusive licenses, like labels and distribution groups — can sue civilly for damages.

What artists support regulations against the misuse of AI in the music industry?

On Thursday, March 21, country star Luke Bryan spoke out in support of the ELVIS Act. He said that managers are coming to him after hearing AI recordings of their artists and not being able to tell that it is actually an AI recording of their artist's voice instead.

"I've just gotten to where stuff comes in of my voice on my phone, and I can't tell it's not me," Bryan said at the signing of the Bill with Lee. "It's a real deal."

Chris Janson was also present at the bill signing. He said without songwriting, he is unable to tour or feed his children.

"People can't come to shows and hear live music if we don't put a stop to the fakeness," Janson said. "We came to a real city to make real music for real people."

Other supporters of the bill include CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson, Jamie Moore, Maggie Rose, Matthew West and Tom Douglas, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. and Lindsay Ell.

In February, Wilson testified before Congress about the dangers of artificial intelligence's misuse in the music industry.

"I do not have to tell you how much of a gut punch it is to have your name, your likeness or your voice ripped from you and used in ways that you could never imagine or would never allow," Wilson told members of Congress. "It is wrong, plain and simple."

Less than two weeks after the ELVIS Act was passed, more than 200 artists signed an open letter calling on tech companies to stop using AI which undermines or replaces human artistry. The letter was put forth by the nonprofit organization, Artist Rights Alliance.

The letter recognized that when used responsibly, AI has enormous potential to advance human creativity but some platforms and developers employ AI to sabotage creativity.

"When used irresponsibly, AI poses enormous threats to our ability to protect our privacy, our identities, our music and our livelihoods. Some of the biggest and most powerful companies are, without permission, using our work to train AI models," the letter says. "For many working musicians, artists and songwriters who are just trying to make ends meet, this would be catastrophic."

Artists who signed the letter include Darius Rucker, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves. Sheryl Crow, Rosanne Cash, Miranda Lambert and Marcus King, among others.

How could AI regulations impact other industries?

AI regulations are also making waves in the tech industry.

According to Yamin, there is a worry in the tech industry that if there is too much regulation, only the big tech players like Meta or Microsoft will have access to the technology.

"Then what happens to startups, that are really trying to create something innovative and new, yet they cant afford all the legal fees required to check all the boxes in order to approach AI in a compliant way?" Yamin asked.

Smaller-sized software companies in Silicon Valley share the same sentiment.

According to The Washington Post , the willingness of the world's leading tech companies to embrace AI regulation is just a tactic that will allow them to secure their place in the industry.

"I think it's really interesting to see how in the end, a lot of the markets are very similar in that sense," Yamin said. "On one hand, you're protecting from the bad aspects of AI, but on the other hand, you're making it really hard for newcomers in the tech industry that're trying to innovate and hurting them in that way."

Why American Idol Contestant Madai ChaKell Mocked Luke Bryan's Voice in Hollywood Week Performance

ChaKell's heated exchange with the country star judge took place during Sunday night's episode

Things were not ideal between Luke Bryan and an American Idol contestant on a recent episode.

On Sunday night's episode, a situation got heated when hopeful singer Madai ChaKell performed Ariana Grande's "Tattooed Heart" for Bryan and his fellow judges, Katy Perry  and  Lionel Richie — ultimately leading the contestant to mock the country star's southern accent.

Ahead of her performance, the 22-year-old singer spoke with Ryan Seacrest about Bryan's thoughts on her not being ready to be on the show before.

"I definitely tapped more into myself since he said I probably didn't really know who I was," ChaKell said. "I did some more digging and found more of her. I just want to prove to Luke that I am a true performer and artist."

After the contestant arrived onstage she began a take, but apologized and asked if she could start over.

During her second attempt, she paused and tried to sing a capella because it was "not flowing the way we practiced."

Disney/Eric McCandless

After finishing the song, the "Buy Dirt" singer, 47, gave her feedback. "So Madai, are you feeling OK?" Bryan asked her, to which she replied: "Um, I'm handling it."

He continued, "Is your voice 100 percent?"

ChaKell acknowledged her voice "was not where I would like it" to be.

"I got you. Obviously, I don't know what went on in rehearsals, but a lot of stuff going on up there. It was a little shaky in some spots. But thanks for performing for us. Thank you," Bryan told her.

In an interview following the performance, ChaKell claimed that the pianist went rogue on what they had rehearsed. "Then we tried to also play the card, 'Is your voice OK?' What do you think?" she remarked. "I was shaky because look at what y'all just did! Is your voice OK, Luke? I haven't heard you sing! Obviously, I can sing."

ChaKell was then given a second chance to perform for the judges, and Bryan said, "It's great to have you back, and we understand all the dynamics of it now, and we're glad that you get another opportunity. Like I said, in this moment, your moment, we want you in the most comfortable situation possible."

"With that being said, can I have a chair, perhaps? Because I'm getting a little shaky," ChaKell replied, seemingly referring to the "One Margarita" artist's previous comment about her "shaky" vocals.

This time, at the end of the track, she added a southern twang to the word "heart."

Perry and Richie both applauded, but Bryan didn't look pleased and asked why she opted for the accent.

Chakell replied in a British accent: "You know, you said something before, like, I don't really know who I am quite yet, so I wanted to show you that I can be everyone and everything. Isn't that what an  American Idol  is?"

After she walked off stage, Bryan added, "Maybe we'll do American Humble at some point. Probably not winning the audience for that one."

In a separate interview, ChaKell stood by her comments. "I am proud of the moment because I just feel like it definitely showed my boss energy. But yeah, it is what it is, y'all know what it is," she said.

After the episode aired, ChaKell went on Instagram Live with Perez Hilton and stood by her exit from the show.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

"My attitude, honestly in my opinion, I feel that it was warranted," the contestant said, claiming that the pianist intentionally sabotaged her performance and that the judges were in on it.

ChaKell continued: "People find me to have a bad attitude because they don't know me. So me speaking up for myself and talking to judges who know what's really going on behind the scenes," she said. "What I was saying was not for the viewers to understand. Luke Bryan and the rest of the judges knew exactly what I meant when I said, 'Is your voice OK,' because you know what we're doing. You know what you're doing. You've been talking all week. If you were asked to sing right now, how would you sound? Because you know all the work that we're doing behind the scenes aside of what you guys put on TV."

Ultimately, ChaKell said that she didn't want to continue on the show due to contract restrictions and it was not her "dream."

Luke Combs leads the nominees for the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards with eight nods, followed by Megan Moroney and Morgan Wallen , who are tied with six each. Following behind with five nominations apiece are Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton.

Although the results aren’t a surprise for most of the multiply nominated artists, they provide a particularly big look for Moroney, a critical favorite who is still promoting her debut album, which produced a No. 1 single in “Tennessee Orange.”

Popular on Variety

Kelsea Ballerini, who just hosted the CMT Awards for the fourth and final time, has three nominations for the ACMs, tying her with Zach Bryan with that number.

One of the nominations Jelly Roll can claim is the top one, entertainer of the year. There, he’ll be up against Combs, Johnson, Stapleton, Wallen, Wilson and Kane Brown.

The female artist of the year category puts Moroney and Wilson up against Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde and Kacey Musgraves.

The male artist category includes five of the previously mentioned names: Combs, Johnson, Stapleton, Wallen and Jelly Roll.

Combs’ leading eight nominations come for Entertainer of the Year; Male Artist of the Year; Album of the Year (Artist & Producer nominations); Single of the Year (Artist & Producer nominations); Song of the Year; Music Event of the Year. (Combs is doubly nominated for the album category because the ACM, pretty much alone among awards orgs, counts twice artists who double as songwriters or producers on an album or track.)
