What a fabulous vacation!! We just returned from an 11 day island hopping trip to Greece (5 stops in all). We were a little hesitant to book through Tour Radar being that we had never heard of them before, but after much research, we decided to jump in. Everything, and I mean everything was handled for us. During the initial scheduling process, we made numerous changes to our itinerary including flying to an island instead of ferrying, upgrading to a fast ferry, changing a water tour to a land tour, upgrading our hotels and more. Tour Radar was wonderful at meeting our requests and their communication was spot on. They always got back to us within a day. They arranged for all of our transfers (12 in all) and we never had to lift a finger. They were always on time, if not early, and got us to where we needed to be. The land tours they offered were wonderful. We got a great taste of the islands. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and all were exceptional. We would not hesitate to use Tour Radar for our next trip. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Reviews of Travel Zone Tours

Overall the tour was great. Everything was well coordinated for all the transfers and pickups and lodging. You have a contact for each location to help you get settled, options on how to get around and recommendations on how to spend your time. I only experienced one change and the team was available immediately to assist.
Travel was well organized.
Greece during autumn is a delight! The hotels both in Mykonos and Santorini were close to nice places to eat and socialize. The guides were so polite and patient with us asking questions and recommendations. Totally recommend this trip to solo travelers like me. I'm thinking about revising next year. Maybe Crete or Rhodes.

London Underground Tickets & Travelcards

The Travelcard is a transport pass for London that gives you unlimited travel in London within certain zones . The prices vary according to the number of zones you need to travel through. Central London is in zone 1.

Travelcards are valid for 1 day, 7 days, 1 month or 1 year.

The passes are valid for travel on all types of transport in London including:

  • the Underground (the tube)
  • the local suburban trains within London
  • the Elizabeth Line (not west of West Drayton)
  • the Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
  • the London Overground
  • the buses all over London. A Travelcard for any zone allows you to use the buses in all zones (zones 1-6)

The 3 Day Travelcard, weekend Travelcard, Zone 1-2 & 2-6 One Day Travelcards are no longer available.

Visiting London for 1-7 days? See our guide to London’s transport tickets & passes . The Travelcard may not be the best ticket for your stay.

Single Underground Tickets

Single paper tickets on the London underground are expensive if you buy them from a tube station ticket machine:

  • £6.70 for one journey in zone 1 (central London) and between zone 1 and zones 2 to 6
  • See single ticket prices for all zones .

One Day Travelcards: 2024 prices

Using a Pay as you go Oyster card or a contactless card are the cheapest ways to pay for travel if you’re in London for 1-5 days. The daily cap is £8.50 per day for zones 1-2

If you really don’t want to use an Oyster card or don’t have a contactless card, the One Day Travelcard is the next best money-saving pass.

The paper Off peak One Day Travelcard for zone 1-6 is  £15.90. This is expensive, but still cheaper than paying the full cash fare for 3 underground trips in central London (3 x £6.70 = £20.10 ).

One Day Travelcard fares 2024

Peak v anytime travelcards.

One Day Travelcard prices are different if you travel during peak or off-peak times:

Anytime Travelcard Valid for travel at anytime. Off-Peak Travelcard For travel after 9.30am Monday–Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Top Tip: An Off-Peak One Day Travelcard for zones 1–6 costs  £10.40 with a Railcard .

Weekly Travelcards: 2024 prices

If you stay in London for 6–7 days and use the underground, trains, and buses every day, the weekly Travelcard is the most cost-effective travel pass.

The one-week pass including central London (zones 1-2) is  £42.70.

  • It can start on any day of the week
  • It’s valid for travel at anytime; there is no peak or off-peak rate.

Most places sell weekly Travelcards loaded onto a plastic Oyster card. There’s a £7 fee for the Oyster card.

Your fare on an Oyster card will automatically cap at the weekly Travelcard fare (this is already available on contactless cards). The cap starts on Monday and ends Sunday, so it mainly benefits Londoners or those working in London.

Weekly Travelcard fares 2024

  • See weekly Travelcards prices for all other zones (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6)

Monthly Travelcards: 2024 prices

For longer stays in London, monthly Travelcards are available. You won’t save much compared to buying 4 x weekly Travelcards – but you’ll save time renewing it. Like the weekly Travelcard, it can start on any day of the week and is valid for travel at any time. See monthly Travelcard prices for all other zones (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6)

Monthly Travelcards 2024

Where to buy travelcards.

One day, weekly and monthly Travelcards are available from:

Underground stations

Travelcards are available from all underground station ticket machines (there are no longer any underground tickets offices). The busier stations in central London have staff to help you use the machines.

Local shops and newsagents

Travelcards are also available from Oyster ticket stops . These are newsagents and local shops licensed to sell London transport tickets and Oyster cards. One Day Travelcards are not available from Oyster ticket stops.

London train stations

One Day Travelcards are available from all London train station ticket offices and ticket macines. Paper weekly and monthly Travelcards are no longer available from train stations . They are available to buy, but they are loaded onto an Oyster card and may only be available from ticket machines, not ticket offices.

London Transport Visitor Centres

TfL Visitor Centres at Victoria train station, Kings Cross/St Pancras International station, Heathrow Terminal 2 & 3 tube staion, Liverpool St station & Piccadilly Circus tube station.

How to use a Travelcard

On the underground.

If you have a paper One Day Travelcard or single ticket from a ticket machine, insert the card into the slot on the front of the ticket barrier. The barrier opens when you take the ticket from behind the yellow reader, on the top.

If you have a paper One Day Travelcard, just show it to the driver when boarding the bus.

See How to use an Oyster card if you have a weekly Travelcard on an Oyster card.

Top Tip: Do you want a cheaper way to travel around central London? If you only travel by bus , it costs £5.25 per day or £24.70 per week.

NFL schedule 2024: Full list of how many miles each team will travel and time zones they will cross

A look at the nfl travel data for the 2024 season.

one zone travel

All 32 NFL teams will have to travel at least eight times during the 2024 regular season, but some will travel more and much farther. Teams will have to travel cross country, while some will go off to Germany and England. Have you ever wondered how many miles each NFL team travels, and how many time zones they cross through? Well, that info has been put together for the upcoming season and released prior to the official NFL schedule release.

According to Bookies.com , the Los Angeles Chargers  will travel the most miles of any team this season -- a whopping 26,803 miles. The Chargers will also travel through the most time zones: 36. As for the team that will travel the least amount of miles in 2024, that honor belongs to Dan Quinn's  Washington Commanders .

The mileage for this list was calculated by using the linear air distance between each stadium on Google Earth. Check out the full list below:

What's your chance of seeing the northern lights tonight? A look at Saturday's forecast

Illuminating the night sky with pink, green and gray colors, the northern lights made its appearance in the United Kingdom and the northern half of the United States on Friday. The magical phenomena could happen again tonight.

The show fascinated many onlookers as they took out their phones to capture the beauty of the night sky. On Friday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued extreme (G5) conditions across the United States. A storm of this intensity has not been seen since October 2003. The storm gained the name "Halloween Storm" and caused many power outages in Sweden and damaged transformers in South Africa, according to Earth.com .

Meteorologists have predicted that the northern lights can be visible on Saturday as well as Sunday. If you are going outside to see the northern lights, forecasters want to remind the public that their solar eclipse glasses can be used for viewing the phenomenon.

Here's what you need to know to prepare for the next viewing of the northern lights.

The northern lights: Danced across the US last night. It could happen again Saturday.

What is the cloud forecast Saturday night? Will clouds block the northern lights?

If you missed the aurora borealis Friday night, you might still catch a glimpse on Saturday or Sunday, depending on where you live. But not if clouds get in the way.

The cloud forecast for Saturday night is generally good for most of America, but some of the people who missed their chance last night due to clouds may have a similar problem Saturday, said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Tom Kines. Areas that are likely to be cloudy include New England and Mid-Atlantic regions, as well as parts of the Southern Plains, including Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado.

“Even just a few breaks in the clouds will allow the aurora to be visible,” Kines said. “There’s always hope.”

Peak visibility time Saturday night will be between 9 p.m. and midnight, with some chance until 2 a.m., Kines said. The best views will be in dark areas away from the light pollution of cities, he said, though some reported seeing the auroras Friday night from metro areas like Milwaukee and Detroit.

Sunday night, if there is any aurora to see, those in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic can rejoice, because Kines said the skies should be clearer.

Where can you see the northern lights tonight?

The Space and Weather Prediction Center  offers an experimental forecast map  that shows the aurora may be visible in a wide swath of the U.S. including Oregon, Nebraska, Indiana and Pennsylvania. Other states like California, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida could also see the sky light up again for an encore performance. But visibility will depend on shifting factors that include weather, pollution and cloud cover.

Below are forecast predictions for seeing the northern lights in New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana on Saturday.

Rain and clouds are expected to damper expectations to see the aurora borealis around the Rochester, N.Y. area . Elsewhere in NY, the  Lower Hudson Valley could see the lights again, if weather permits.

NWS maps predicting the intensity and location of the northern lights Saturday and Sunday show the aurora will be visible in mid to northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be mostly cloudy with some rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. The NWS predicted 48% to 58% sky cover in metro Detroit from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. The western portion of both peninsulas are expected to have a lower cloud cover.

In the Milwaukee area , the evening is expected to bring mostly clear skies and overnight will have scattered clouds, said Tim Halbach, local meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Those living around the Cincinnati region could be treated to the northern lights Saturday night with the NWS' Wilmington, Ohio , office forecasting dry, partly cloudy conditions. Clouds shouldn't be an issue as many Ohioans reported seeing the lights Friday despite some cloud cover.

In a telephone interview, Mike Bettwy, operations chief of the NOAA's  Space Weather Prediction Center  in Boulder, Co, said Indianapolis and surrounding areas might have a better chance of seeing the aurora today and Sunday.

They can expect clear skies tonight, Bettwy said.

"The aurora itself might be actually a little bit less active than it was last night," he told IndyStar. "I think the ability for you to see it will be better because the skies will be clearing out — at least in the Indianapolis area and that immediate vicinity."

Northern lights forecast path

If you want to get a better idea of if you will be able to see the northern lights from your state, check NOAA's aurora forecast tool , which has a 30-minute forecast window.

The auroras are a natural light display in Earth's sky that are famously best seen in high-latitude regions.

Scientist left amazed by the aurora

The aurora seen on May 10 amazed Antonella Fruscione, an astrophysicist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. She sent photos of the lights and the April eclipse to her friends in Italy. The northern lights weren't as prominent in Italy as it was in other places.

"And I sent them the picture that I took at the solar eclipse and I said, 'Can you imagine how fortunate I was this year, one month apart, I see these two incredible spectacles of the universe,'" she recalled telling them.

The phenomena seen Friday and possibly Saturday night isn't usual, she said.

"It's a very rare occurrence, especially because last night it was really visible," Fruscione said.

That's because the Earth's magnetic activity was at a nine, the highest the index goes, coupled with the Sun being at an active peak, causing eruptions. She added the colors cannot be predicted either as it depends on how the solar energetic particles interact with oxygen and nitrogen atoms. Oxygen appears green, while nitrogen appears purple, blue or pink, she said.

"It just depends on which atoms in the atmosphere this particle interact with," Fruscione said.

She declined to predict how strong Saturday's aurora could be as it's not in her expertise, but said people make predictions all the time about space weather not just for the northern lights, but to ensure communications, space stations, astronauts and other matter in space doesn't get majorly disrupted.

Down on Earth, however, the activity is harmless to humans.

"It's completely harmless because the particles do not don't do not reach us," Fruscione said. "The reason why we see the colors is that the particle interacts with the atoms and they make these beautiful colors and that's it."

For Saturday, and any other day where chatter about the aurora borealis is high, Fruscione encouraged people to download an aurora forecasting app to their phones so they can see the colorful skies.

What are the northern lights?

The northern lights materialize when energized particles from the sun reach Earth's upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million mph,  according to Space.com . Earth's magnetic field redirects the particles toward the poles through a process that produces a stunning display of rays, spirals and flickers that has fascinated humans for millennia.

Steelers won't be needing their frequent flyer miles following the release of 2024 NFL schedule

One of the often-forgotten hardships of the NFL season is the travel.

Pittsburgh, being an East Coast team, typically has it easier than squads like the Seahawks per se, but short weeks across multiple time zones is the last thing the human body wants after playing a football game.

Luckily for Pittsburgh, that won't be happening much in 2024:

View the original article to see embedded media.

Steelers On the Road Less Traveled

As you can see in the graphic, the Pittsburgh Steelers will fly the fourth least in 2024, at just over 12,000 miles. They also will travel across the second least amount of time zones, at only 10.

That's the kind of break that Pittsburgh desperately needs. Not only do they have the league's hardest schedule, but they also have to play on multiple short weeks, with games against the Browns on Thursday night and the Chiefs on Christmas Day, which happens to be a Wednesday.

A home game against the Chargers was a big help in this travel scenario, as Pittsburgh will avoid the long trip to California entirely in 2024 after taking a trip to Los Angeles to play the Rams last year.

And if you think travel miles are an excuse, think again. Many of you know what its like to feel jet lagged. Multiply that feeling on top of already feeling like you got hit by a bus and that's what NFL players go through for 18 Weeks a year.

The less time a team spends in the air, the more they can focus on recovery. Players often speak about how it takes until Wednesday or Thursday of the following week for them to walk without being sore from Sunday's contest.

And when you look at how difficult the back half of the Steelers' schedule is, it may sound hyperbolic, but every spare minute the team has to recover and gameplan for their division rivals, as well as the Chiefs and Eagles, will be crucial to team success.

The one good thing about the toughest division in the league is that Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland are within proximity, so the Steelers won't have to worry about traveling far, and then Kansas City comes to them while Philly is obviously across the state.

A much-needed break indeed for the Steelers.

Wall replacement on CO 145 near Ophir starting May 15

Travel advisory.

San Miguel County  - The Colorado Department of Transportation, and their contract partner Williams Construction will be proceeding with wall replacement on Colorado Highway 145 starting May 15. Work will be on CO 145 at Mile Point 63.4, just south of the big hairpin turn at the Ophir Pass Road access, approximately 2.5 miles north of Trout Lake and 8 miles south of the Society Turn roundabout, near Telluride. Weather permitting, construction is expected to be complete in October 2024.

“The retaining wall built underneath the roadway is an essential element of highway design,” said Regional Transportation Director Julie Constan. “The wall supports and holds up the roadway and is a feature used for slope stabilization. This type of structure is common along Colorado’s high mountain roads and periodically are in need of replacement.”

Construction will include replacing the existing retaining walls under the highway. Once the wall replacement work is complete, crews will perform asphalt patching and place new guardrail.

This project will benefit the public by improving the integrity of the highway, making it safer for traffic to travel over.

Traffic Impacts

Starting May 15, work hours will range from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and traffic impacts will include:

  • The southbound lane will be closed 24/7 with single lane alternating traffic guided by flaggers during work hours and a traffic signal set up at night and on weekends.
  • Motorists can expect brief delays and are urged to slow down as they approach the work zone, drive with caution, allow extra space between vehicles and give themselves extra travel time
  • Traffic fines will be doubled in the work zone
  • No wide loads over 11', 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through October 2024
  • Periodic weekend work is anticipated

Hiking Trail Impacts

Galloping Goose Trail impacts will include:

  • During construction, a flagger will help to direct hikers safely through the work zone
