Six Reasons Why Going To Gigs Alone Is The Best

So you want to go see that metalcore band you love but none of your friends like that “shouty” music? Or you REALLY want to go check out that new artist on TikTok you discovered but all your mates won’t go to a gig where they only know one song? Or worse, your group of friends cannot get themselves organized and work out which show and when to go on a tour, so you’re worried you’ll miss out on tickets. Let them be miserable and start living your best life by going to concerts by yourself. Trust us, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do!

Going to gigs alone can be daunting. What am I going to do with myself in between sets? Are people going to think I’m weird? Why would I not want to share the experience?

Listen, we are all for sharing the experience, but sometimes it’s either missing out or going alone, and in those cases we definitely recommend going alone. Here’s a few reasons why you’ll never regret it once you build up the courage to go through with it.

1 . See artists you really REALLY want to see

Imagine the FOMO of missing your favourite band on their new tour, hearing all those new songs live, seeing everyone post about it. Don’t let that happen, and get that ticket. Plus you then get to tell the pals who didn’t want to come how you saw that band or artist before they blew up or how they played that one B-side track that everyone loves – now who has FOMO?

2. Meet new friends

It’s no secret that music brings people together. That moment when everyone’s favourite ballad hits and there’s not a dry eye in the building, you turn to your left or right and suddenly you bond with a stranger over your favourite song. For the metalheads, we also recommend mosh pits, follow the rules of the pit but what a way to make new friends!

3. The freedom

Now hear us out – but going to a gig alone means you can get to the venue when you want, you can go to the loos when you want, you can stand in line at the merch for hours and no one will ask if you’re sure you want to wait. And no one will drag you home when you want to wait after the show has finished and find every piece of confetti or ask for the setlist.

4 . It’s a cult

You are not alone in going to gigs by yourself, you’d probably be surprised by how many people do the same thing. Some fan groups even have entire sub cultures of going to gigs alone (shoutout to Frank Turner’s solo armada, we see you!) – bringing us back to reason #2, new friends.

5. Confidence boost

Going to a gig by yourself will do wonders for your confidence. Sure the first time might feel a bit awkward and weird, but isn’t it always? Remember your first day of school? And then it was kind of okay after a while (let’s ignore our teenage years…) Once you’ve done it and experience all of the divinity of a solo gig you’ll feel free as a bird.

6. Experience the music your way

Whether you love hanging out by the bar, need to be front row, prefer seats or want to leave a bit earlier to catch the last train – the world is your oyster! The experience is yours, you don’t need to coordinate with someone else, rely on them to enjoy the show as much as you are and have as much of a good time as you are. And frankly, if you took a chance on a new genre or new artist and it isn’t your vibe, you can just go home. Glorious.

So there you have it – doesn’t sound too bad now does it?! At the end of the day it all comes down to you and your artist, a concert will always be a shared experience whether with strangers or friends. The most important thing to do is have fun.

Concert ticket prices vary depending on the artist and venue, however our concert and tours hub offers a range of events – from tiny club shows to huge stadium dates – at a variety of prices for you to choose from and to suit every pocket.

All the listings on the Concerts and Tours guide display dates, venues and cities. Split into six genre pages, events are listed in alphabetical order for an easy browsing experience to find the best live music entertainment near you.

Again, concert start times vary. Usually venue doors open between 17:00 and 19:00 in the evening at arena, club and theatre shows, with some bigger venues like stadiums and cricket pitches opening earlier – from 12:00 noon, or 16:00. Times are dependant on the number of acts performing.

For most concerts and shows, the curfew time is 23:00. However, this may vary.

Most shows allow attendees aged 16 and over, or 14 and over when accompanied by an adult. Concerts who operate different rules will usually state it on the event page.

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Ace Announces ‘Everything R&B’ Live Dates & Touring Artists

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s R&B specialist and presenter, Ace has announced the cohort of emerging talent taking part in the inaugural Everything R&B Live. Four unsigned UK R&B artists, alongside five special guests, tour their home cities across the UK this November to develop their knowledge and connections within the live music industry, enhance their performance skills, and be introduced to new audiences.

The artists are:

Birmingham born artist LANDEL continues to make a name for himself with his chilled demeanor and raw authentic lyrics, Starting out as a music video director before releasing his debut single back in 2018.

Newcastle based singer/ songwriter Maxine is a R&B/ soul artist. Self described as a ‘big town girl making it out of a small town’, she released her first single “Frontline” during the pandemic, paying homage to the frontline workers, and creating something to uplift through a dark time.

R&B singer, song-writer and producer TENN from Sheffield has been making waves in his hometown, and further afield, with his catchy lyrical content, and creative sample flips.

Yanti from London is an Indonesian & English singer heavily influenced by 90’s R&B and soul music. Having grown up fascinated by 90s pop queens, the singer now writes about the things she’s ‘too afraid to talk about, the things that some people don't care to listen to in conversation.’

Joining the touring artists at each hometown date will be soulful vocalist Shak Omar (Liverpool), punchy pop star meets classical pianist Lois Rae (Manchester), the BBC Introducing tipped Jamilah (Newcastle), and Wolverhampton native Cariss Auburn (Birmingham).A special surprise guest is to be announced for the final night of the tour in London.

Dedicating his career to the championing of R&B music across radio and clubs,  Ace is one of the most seasoned and sought-after DJ’s in the UK. His never-ending support of UK R&B has seen a prominent resurgence in the genre, with interest from across the board and his shows are a springboard for new talent to have an opportunity to shine.

As we enter the new year, more R&B artists are gearing up for tours and concerts in 2024. Before we get into the upcoming shows, let’s look back at some of the highlights of 2023.

R&B artists from all walks of life toured cities worldwide. Rising acts like Chlöe , Coco Jones , FLO and Victoria Monét launched their first headlining tours.

Legendary acts such as Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill ( Summer Block Party Tour ) and Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire ( Sing A Song All Night Long Tour ) joined forces for co-headlining tours.

Tamar Braxton and Jill Scott launched tours celebrating their respective albums’ anniversary, Love and War (10th Anniversary Tour) and Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds: Vol. 1 ( Who Is Jill Scott? 2023 Tour ).

Even Tony! Toni! Toné! reunited on Raphael Saadiq Revisits Tony! Toni! Toné!: Just Me and You Tour .

Global stars like Beyoncé and The Weeknd went on world tours. The former’s Renaissance World Tour visited 10 countries across 56 shows.

Produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation, Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour grossed over $579 million worldwide. The stadium tour attracted over 2.7 million fans in 39 cities, according to a Live Nation report.

Craig David ‘Commitment' UK tour 2025: Presale, dates, venues, & all you need to know

C raig David, the R&B icon, is expanding his international presence with the announcement of the UK leg of his 'Commitment' Tour. The British singer took to Instagram on Monday, April 29, to announce dates for the winter tour set to begin next year on February 2, 2025.

Produced by Live Nation, Craig's 'Commitment' tour in the United Kingdom will feature special guest Lemar. Unlike the North American leg, which spans a week, the U.K. leg will encompass almost a dozen shows across the country at various venues.

Tickets for the 'Commitment' Tour 2025 will be available for LiveNation presale starting this Wednesday, May 1. Additionally, artist presales for the winter tour will begin the same day at 10:00 am local time. Fans can access the presale by subscribing to David's mailing list at https://craigdavid.us11.list-manage.com/subscribe .

Subscribed members will receive the link and code via email before the presale officially begins this Wednesday. Additionally, limited-time presales from partners such as Spotify and Ticketmaster will begin a day later, on Thursday, May 2. The general on-sale of 'Commitment' Tour 2025 tickets begins at 10:00 am local time on Friday, May 3. Fans can secure their tickets from Ticketmaster.com or Aloud.com.

Everything to know about Craig David's ‘Commitment' UK Tour 2025

Craig David is set to embark on his second tour in the last six years, gearing up for another leg of the Commitment tour in the United Kingdom. Starting on February 2 next year, Craig will grace the stage at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Throughout the tour, fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Craig's diverse and passionate discography as he delivers consecutive shows across the UK. He will be performing elating shows at venues like SEC Armadillo in Glasgow, Utilita Arena in Newcastle, Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, Brighton Centre, and the Utilita Arena in Cardiff.

Additionally, Craig David will take up the stage in Nottingham and perform at the Motorpoint Arena on February 12, followed by shows at the Coop Live in Manchester, Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, and the International Centre in Bournemouth.

Accompanied by guest artist Lemar, the discography star will officially wrap up the U.K. leg of the Commitment Tour 2025 with a final performance at the O2 Arena in London on February 20.

Craig David has not yet revealed details about the setlists for the 2025 tour. However, if the singer follows a similar setlist as the North American leg of the tour, fans may get to watch performances on hits like 7 Days , Born to Do It , Insomnia , Don't Love You No More , The Story Goes , and Fill Me In , among others.

The music legend will be in the UK this summer and while many fans were left disappointed when tickets went on sale - there is still a way to catch Taylor Swift live

Taylor Swift fans have endured quite a Cruel Summer over the past eight months, and their time is running out. The iconic Love Story singer is finally bringing her Eras Tour to the UK over the next few months, and fans are excited to attend.

However, when tickets were first released back in August 2023, they sold out almost instantly. Despite going on to add more stadium dates to her list of shows, those thousands of tickets were snapped up extremely quickly as well.

Since then, eagle-eyed fans have had their eyes on Ticketmaster 's official resale tickets - but the few that have gone on sale have (once again) sold out very fast. As a result, many fans have resorted to carrying out some Vigilante S**t by looking at a number of online ticket reseller websites, including viagogo and Vivid Seats .

By purchasing from these retailers, fans have been able to buy their perfect tickets - standing or seated - for their gig of choice. However, the trade-off is that the prices may be different to the original face value of the Taylor Swift tickets, and fans are buying at their own risk.

But, considering this is one of the only ways to get access to the gigs right now, it may be your best bet. We have the full breakdown of ticket sellers below.

Where to buy Taylor Swift resale tickets

Taylor Swift resale tickets are available from a number of online retailers right now. Although the below sellers, including viagogo and Vivid Seats , are not "official" retailers, they do have a number of strict terms and conditions in place to keep ticket buyers and ticket sellers safe.

Eras Tour hopefuls can choose exactly where they want to sit or stand in their stadium of choice - but there is a catch. Ticket prices are set by the sellers themselves, so fans may see some Taylor Swift Tickets priced much higher than they might expect.

These websites specialise in selling tickets that fans no longer want, but viagogo recently assured fans: "V iagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee."

Should you buy Taylor Swift resale tickets?

Taylor Swift fans may be looking for tickets to the star's UK 2024 Eras Tour shows by any means necessary. However, they may find fear in looking at products being sold by the aforementioned reseller sites, such as viagogo.

Viagogo's ticket guarantee reads: "When You purchase tickets on viagogo, viagogo guarantees that you will receive the tickets you paid for in time for the event. In the rare instance that a problem arises and the original ticket seller does not provide you with the tickets listed for sale, viagogo will, in its discretion, review comparably priced tickets and offer you replacement tickets at no additional cost, or viagogo will issue you a refund for the cost of the tickets.

""Comparably priced" replacement tickets are determined by viagogo in its discretion. When you sell tickets on viagogo, provided you provide the exact tickets listed for sale and the ticket buyer successfully gains entry to the event, viagogo guarantees that you will be paid for your sale."

They also recently told Express.co.uk : "The European leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has been long anticipated. We’ve not seen anything like this since The Beatles and with tickets having only just gone on sale, demand is at its peak right now. viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee.

"Sellers on our marketplace may list tickets at high values when demand is high, but prices can change and tend to reduce over time. We recommend Swifties wait for demand to settle and check regularly for a listing that meets their budget. Tickets for Taylor Swift’s UK dates have already sold for as low as 172 GBP on our platform. Also, tickets listed at eye-catchingly high levels rarely, if ever, sell." (sic)

Meanwhile, Ticketmaster and AXS - Taylor Swift's official retailers - also released a statement claiming that any tickets purchased other than authorised retailers would not be valid. They said: "The only way to obtain a valid ticket for Taylor Swift’s shows is via the approved ticket agents. In the UK, the approved ticket agents are Ticketmaster, AXS or directly through the venue’s website. In Ireland, the approved ticket agent is Ticketmaster. Any tickets found to be purchased via re-sale on the non-official secondary market will not be valid for entry into the concerts and will be cancelled in accordance with the terms and conditions of sale.

"Through official resale facilities, ticket resale prices are capped to help combat the inflation of ticket prices and put a stop to ticket touting. For more information on official resale facilities, fans should visit the website of their approved ticket agent," they added. These resale facilities enable fans to sell their tickets with confidence and empower fans to purchase resale tickets with the assurance that the ticket they are purchasing is genuine."

Fans attending live events with tickets acquired through resale websites are advised to double check the ticket terms and conditions at the point of sale - such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation - to ensure a smooth live event experience. Tickets could be voided if they were found to be bought second-hand. As a result, fans are buying at their own risk. With that said, viagogo also commented: "viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the guarantee."

Where is Taylor Swift playing in the UK?

Taylor Swift is playing a total of 13 dates across England. These shows begin in June and run through to August 2024.

Many of these dates will have the Look What You Made Me Do singer playing London's Wembley Stadium. They will be supported by Paramore.

Eurovision winner Loreen announces 2025 UK and European tour

Loreen's biggest run across the continent to date includes a huge show at London's Eventim Apollo

Loreen , who won Eurovision in both 2012 and 2023, has announced a UK and European tour for next year.

The artist’s biggest jaunt across the continent to date will kick off in the Netherlands on February 15 with 20 stops across Europe. She will later head to Birmingham on March 17 before playing a headline show at London’s iconic Eventim Apollo on March 19 before continuing on to Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow. The tour will wrap up in Dublin, Ireland at 3 Olympia on March 27.

“Last year’s tour was one of the best times of my life…this next tour is all for you,” Loreen said in a press release.

Loreen will be performing her new single, ‘Forever’, in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest this Saturday (May 11). The track will be released the day before.

She will also be headlining Manchester Pride 2024 in August.

Loreen took the Eurovision crown home at last year’s Song Contest , representing Sweden with her song ‘Tattoo’. It marked her second victory after having won for the first time back in 2012.

Last summer, following her Eurovision victory,  Loreen sat down with  NME   to discuss her plans for new music and the feeling of taking home the song contest trophy for the second time.

She also opened up about how she would categorise her style of music, and said that she agrees with a fan’s comment that it is “spiritual pop”.

“It’s exactly what it is. Of course, I do spiritual pop. The dynamics in my songs – if you look at ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Tattoo’ – there is a spiritual thing going on there. You start with this small whispery thing, then you start building energy and being stronger and stronger, until you come to the chorus where it’s full-on power,” she explained.

“This is spiritual in a way because it’s almost like watching a movie and getting to the place where you start crying and feel a release. And that release is so important. We get it from clubbing, dancing, music – and we need it, because otherwise [there’s] a lot of stagnation in the body. So there’s a purpose to why I use certain dynamics, because you can’t really just scream at somebody [from the start]. You have to really build up – almost like trust, in a way, until you come to the point of release. And [in that moment] it could be that you cry or feel happy or whatever. But it is a spiritual build-up.”

The Houston musician’s UTOPIA – Circus Maximus Tour will see him play 12 dates this side of the Atlantic – including, excitingly, two shows in the UK.

The Circus Maximus tour has been described as ‘an unparalleled audiovisual experience’ and its North American took place last year. The tour follows Scott’s chart-topping fourth studio album UTOPIA , which was the biggest-selling hip-hop release of 2023.

When is Travis Scott going on his UK tour in 2024?

Scott will be playing two shows in the UK on this summer’s Circus Maximus Tour. They are:

The show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be his largest UK headline show to-date.

There are a few presales available. For the London gig, Tottenham Hotspur Season Ticket Holders and One Hotspur Members got access at 10am on Thursday May 9.

For the Manchester show, Co-op members also got access on May 9 at 10am through the Co-op app.

Following the presale today (May 9) some on X have leaked potential prices (so take ’em with a pinch of salt), saying that seated tickets will start from around £72 and that standing will start from £105. ‘Gold Circle’ tickets apparently start from around £143. 

Tickets for the same tour over in North America started from $65 (£52).

British singer-songwriter Craig David is a multi-platinum artist with six MOBO wins and multiple Grammy and BRIT award nominations to his name. He has been making music since the late 1990s and scored his first major hit with the breakthrough 2000 single ‘Fill Me In’ , reaching number one in the UK and number 15 on the US charts. He has since gone platinum in over 20 countries and is about to embark on his first US tour in six years starting tomorrow, May 4, kicking things off at the Lovers & Friends festival in Las Vegas.

Almost two and half decades since his debut album, ‘Born To Do It’, was released, Craig David is getting back on the road with a full band, bringing with him some of his classics ready to be heard in an all new way. Born in the port city of Southampton on the south coast of England, David’s songs defined a generation of British teens, but he has always been able to call his fanbase international. Starting off as a DJ before discovering his love for singing, his voice eventually landed him in the studio with DJ-producer duo Mark Hill and Pete Devereux – better known as Artful Dodger – and together they created some of the most iconic UK garage songs of the era. Pivoting away from dance music to make R&B, David found huge global success with songs like ‘7 Days’ and ‘Walking Away’ , all still tinged with the unique UK flavour of his earlier music.

2024 NCAA DI men's lacrosse championship history

Notre Dame captured its first title in DI men's lacrosse last season after defeating Duke, 13-9. Syracuse leads all programs with 10 national championships including their most recent championship win in 2009. 

*After the 1990 championship, the NCAA Committee on Infractions determined that Paul Gait had played in the 1990 championship while ineligible. Under NCAA rules, Syracuse and Paul Gait's records for that championship were vacated. The NCAA does not recognize Syracuse and coach Roy Simmons Jr.'s 3-0 record, and Paul Gait's 7 goals, 7 assists and his participation in that championship.

Wells Fargo Championship 2024: How to Watch and Stream All the PGA Tour Golf From Anywhere

The Tour heads to Charlotte's Quail Hollow Club with a share of a $20 million purse up for grabs.

With the seemingly unstoppable Scottie Scheffler out of the picture, it's an open field at the Quail Hollow Club this weekend for the Wells Fargo Championship. 

Scheffler has been in ominous form, having claimed wins at the The Masters and The Players Championship, but the World No. 1 has opted out of this weekend's action as he awaits the birth of his first child. 

Leading the charge in his absence will be new favorite Rory McIlroy, who is returning to action after sitting out last week's Byron Nelson. 

Also in the hunt will be defending Wells Fargo champ Wyndham Clark. Denver-born Clark registered a four-stroke victory over second placed Xander Schauffele at the 2023 edition of this tournament, and comes into this weekend's event having clocked up three top-three finishes from his last five tournaments.

Linear TV coverage of the Wells Fargo Championship in the US is on Golf Channel and CBS.
