The traditional "Styrian Classic" will also be part of this year’s Slovenian tour. Before the technically demanding last part of the stage, competitors will have to climb from Laško to Celjska koča. Although there is still a long way to go from the top to the finish line in Rogaška Slatina, the climb could have a significant impact on the outcome of the stage. Considering the fact that there are a lot of cyclists at the start of the thirtieth Tour of Slovenia, we expect a lot of tactical ideas from the best teams and a lot of attacks for a stage and/or overall victory. Every second pinched will be welcome in the fight for the final victory. Never the less, historically in Rogaška Slatina, the victory was always decided by the sprint of the main group.

ŠKOCJAN CAVES - SOCERB CASTLE - PIRAN

The Slovenian coast is small but endearingly charming. You will enjoy the day visiting the highlights of the Slovenian coast and its hinterland.

From Ljubljana we will drive to the Škocjan Caves , a Unesco cultural heritage site, and a majestic underground river canyon, and take you to a world of fantasy. The extraordinary volume of the underground canyon distinguishes Škocjan Caves from other caves and places and is one of the most famous underground sights in the world. After visiting the caves, we will enjoy a scenic drive towards the Slovenian coast with a stop at Socerb Castle , from where we will have a breathtaking view of the Slovenian coast and the Gulf of Trieste. 

Arriving in Piran , you will discover the romantic and picturesque coastal town. Piran is a tourist highlight on the Slovenian coast, strongly influenced by the old Venetian Republic. Overnight Ljubljana  

LJUBLJANA - BIZELJSKO - PTUJ

Bizeljsko is one of the many wine regions of Slovenia, known mainly for its sparkling wines. However, other grape varieties also thrive in this part of the country, which has one of the friendliest climates. Some of the wineries hide another ethnological jewel: the Repnice cellars, whose centuries-old tradition has been revived in recent decades. Ptuj is a picturesque and charming town in northeastern Slovenia. It is located on the banks of the Drava River in Slovenia. The city has a rich history that is reflected in its medieval architecture, including the imposing Ptuj Castle and the Ptuj City Tower. Visitors can also explore the city's museums, including the Ptuj Regional Museum and the Ormož Castle Museum. In addition, the annual Kurentovanje Festival with its colorful costumes, traditional music, and wine tastings is a popular event in Ptuj that attracts visitors from all over the world.

MARIBOR - ŽIČE - CELJE

A visit to Maribor should not be missing on any trip to Slovenia. Maribor is a cosmopolitan city on the banks of the Drava River with many tourist attractions. It is the second-largest city in the country and the largest in the Styria region. The historic city center is marked by Austrian influence, and we will admire the lively and colorful squares and the old river port during Lent. One of the main tourist attractions of Maribor is the Old Vine, the Guinness Book-certified oldest grapevine in the world. We can enjoy a wine tasting at this magical location.

From Maribor, we drive to the silent valley of St. John the Baptist to admire the splendor of the monastery or Charterhouse of Žiče . After this spiritual wonder we will drive to the city of Celje , enjoy dinner, and have a night walk through the charming streets of the city center. The perfect mix of history, culture, and cuisine, all in one day.

Alpine lakes - BLED, BOHINJ

We will head northwards from eastern Slovenia, leaving the hills behind and heading into the mountains. The breathtaking Alpine valleys of Slovenia are not to be missed. Our first destination is the enchanting Lake Bled , where you can enjoy a ride on a Pletna rowboat to the island of Bled, visit the magnificent Bled Castle, take a walk through the impressive Vintgar Gorge , and discover the tranquil Lake Bohinj in the Triglav National Park .

We will end the day at Kranjska Gora , and before night take a walk to Jasna lake .

SOČA VALLEY

SOČA VALLEY 

From Kranjska Gora, you will continue to the Soča Valley . After driving over the Vršič, the highest mountain pass in Slovenia, you will arrive in Trenta and start exploring the Soča Valley. The Soča River has one of the most stunning colors you'll ever see, and you can follow its vivid rapids from the source to the spectacular carved gorges, all the way down where it slows down and gets deeper and more mysterious. The river is not the only spectacular sight in the valley, because most of the way you will be accompanied by outstanding mountain peaks and wonderful waterfalls. The whole area is also steeped in the memories of the battles of the First World War, which were fought in this valley and can be seen in the war cemeteries and monuments.  We end the day in Goriška Brda, an ideal place for an overnight stay in a villa or on a local wine farm.

GORIŠKA BRDA - THE TUSCANY OF SLOVENIA

The Slovenian region of Goriška Brda is the next hidden gem of Europe waiting to be discovered. From the south coast, we drive to the northern part of the coast and further to the region known as the cradle of UNESCO heritage in Slovenia - Idrija In the Idrija region you can admire the Klavže, a river engineering phenomenon called "Slovenia's pyramids", look into the bottomless Wild Lake and walk along the shortest river in Slovenia, visit Idrija Castle and its interesting museum, and descend into the depths of the disused mercury mine, which has been transformed into a world-class attraction under the protection of UNESCO.

POSTOJNA CAVE - PREDJAMA CASTLE

The last jewel of your tour is Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave - one of the most famous caves in the world. It is also the #1 tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the largest karst monuments in the world. What makes Postojna Cave a must-see attraction in Slovenia? A unique and adventurous ride on a special train. It is one of the most diverse cave systems in the world, with 21 km of corridors, galleries and magnificent halls that offer an unparalleled experience of the underground world and a great variety of subterranean animals - including the world-famous human fish (Proteus anguinus). 

At the end of the day we will visit Predjama Castle , perched high on a vertical cliff not far from Postojna Cave in the idyllic village of Predjama.

The step-by-step guide to the Juliana trail in Slovenia

​Explore Slovenia’s Julian Alps along the Juliana Trail, where culture, multi-sport adventure, history and majestic landscapes await.

There’s little mystery about the priorities of the 168-mile, 16-stage Juliana Trail. The circular route, which circumnavigates Triglav National Park in Slovenia’s mountain-strewn northwest corner, aims to connect trekkers to the Alpine locales that have become synonymous with this Central European nation. And like Slovenia generally — a country with a raft of green accolades including being the first certified by international sustainability organisation, Green Destinations — this trail, opened in 2019 with the aim to focus on low-impact travel as hikers visit many of its greatest hits.   Start your hike in Kranjska Gora , one of the country’s most famous ski resorts and a key venue on the skiing world cup circuit. From here, at the junction of the Karavanke Mountains in the north and the Julian Alps to the south, head east along the Juliana Trail . At the end of the first stage, in   Mojstrana , visit the Slovenian Alpine Museum, where photos, archives and gear offer a taste of the country’s love affair with hiking and mountaineering.   The trail continues east for two easy-to-moderate stages until, on stage four, it turns west to the shores of glacial   Lake Bled . Bled is famous for the cliffside Bled Castle, dating to the early 11th century, and the lake’s picturesque island, where you can visit the Church of the Mother of God, rebuilt multiple times during the past millennium.   Next, the path enters the boundaries of Triglav National Park , where you’ll have breathtaking views of Mount Triglav, the park’s 9,396ft-high namesake. The trail then reaches another tectonic and glacial body of water, Lake Bohinj , the country’s largest natural lake. In the town of Bohinjska Bistrica at the end of stage seven, treat yourself to an overnight at   Sunrose 7, an, 18-room, hiker-friendly boutique hotel with a spa built in 1890.   As you round the southern end of the loop at stage 10, the emerald-green Soča River makes its first appearance in the town of Most na Soči. A source of cultural and historic pride — and sporting inspiration — for Slovenes, the river acts as your guide through the town of Tolmin to Kobarid. Here, visit the Walk of Peace Visitor Centre and the next-door Kobarid Museum to learn about the region’s role as a frontline during the First World War. Before leaving town, refuel at   Hiša Polonka , which serves home-made food (and beer) crafted from local ingredients.   Continue along the Soča to Bovec . Slovenia’s outdoor adventure capital is an ideal place to take a break and trade in your pack, boots and trekking poles for a kayak and paddle. The next stage takes the route back into Triglav National Park, under the supervision of mighty peaks such as the 8,789ft Mount Mangart, before crossing the Italian border. Overnight in the town of Tarvisio , a skier’s paradise in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, before the final stretch and completion of the Juliana Trail’s loop back in Kranjska Gora.

Dogodek L'Etape Slovenia je uradni dogodek za amaterske kolesarje iz serije dogodkov Tour de France v Sloveniji, ki potekajo po celem svetu. Edinstvena priložnost za nov osebnostni kolesarski izziv in pravo turistično avanturo po cestah zelene in razgibane Gorenjske.  

Dogodek L'Etape Slovenia bo potekal pod budnim očesom visoko strokovnih standardov in tehničnih pogojev ter podpore blagovne znamke Tour de France. L'Etape Slovenia je družabni kolesarski dogodek s tekmovalno noto za amaterske kolesarje ob zagotavljanju varnega kolesarjenja na za promet zaprtih cestah in približevanje izkušnje etapne dirke profesionalnih kolesarjev na Tour de France. Občuti zeleno Slovenijo na kraljevi razdalji L'Etape Slovenia!

Že dan poprej, v soboto, 2. 9. 2023, bo Kranj zaživel v znamenju 2-dnevnega kolesarskega dogodka L'Etape Slovenia by Tour de France. Na osrednjem prizorišču na Slovenskem trgu bo zrasla vas L'Etape Slovenia.

V zgodnjem prijavnem obdobju ste se vsi prijavljeni na krajšo, 70 km ali daljšo, 138 km dolgo nedeljsko traso 2. izvedbe I feel Slovenia L'Etape Slovenia by Tour de France potegovali za nagrado.

L'Etape Slovenia ima letos poleg rumene kolesarske note tudi dobrodelno. Del vsake štartnine letošnje edicije bo šel tudi v Fundacijo Mateja Mohoriča.

Der 107. Giro d'Italia steht vor der Tür und ist auch in diesem Jahr eine faszinierende Herausforderung für die Topstars der Radsport-Szene. Vom 4. bis zum 26. Mai werden die Teilnehmer über 21 Etappen, von Turin bis Rom, um den Gesamtsieg kämpfen. Der Auftakt findet in Venaria Reale statt, einem malerischen Ort nahe Turin.

Auf ihrer 3.400,8 Kilometer langen Reise durch Italien müssen die Fahrer insgesamt 44.650 Höhenmeter bewältigen. Das Rennen beinhaltet sechs Bergankünfte und zwei Zeitfahren (am 7. und 14. Etappentag).

Dazu kommen sieben hügelige Etappen, deren Ausgänge besonders spannend werden könnten, sowie sechs Sprintetappen, wobei die letzte die Radrennfahrer direkt ins Herzen von Rom führt.

Die herausforderndste Etappe in diesem Jahr – die Königsetappe – führt über 220 Kilometer und beeindruckende 5.300 Höhenmeter, von der Idylle des Gardasees bis zum Gipfel des Mottolino in einer Höhe von 2.385 Metern.

"Es sind weniger Kilometer und weniger Höhenmeter als im letzten Jahr, aber es geht gleich richtig scharf los. Dafür ist die letzte Woche nicht ganz so monströs", sagte Renndirektor Mauro Vegni.

Wer DAZN nutzen möchte, muss zuerst den Dienst abonnieren. Nachdem man sich für ein Abo entschieden hat, kann man die DAZN-App kostenlos aus den gängigen App-Stores herunterladen. Die Nutzung von DAZN setzt voraus, dass man über ein internetfähiges Gerät wie einen Laptop, ein Smartphone, ein Tablet, einen Smart-TV oder einen TV-Stick verfügt.

Die Frage beim diesjährigen Giro ist relativ simpel: Wer kann Tadej Pogacar stoppen? Er wird bei seinem Giro-Debüt als Topfavorit gehandelt. Für ihn ist die Teilnahme etwas Besonderes. "Bereits als Kind habe ich mir gerne den Giro im Fernsehen angeguckt. Mein Vater hat mich sogar zu einigen Etappen mitgenommen. Italien ist ja nicht so weit von Slowenien entfernt", sagte Pogacar.

Warum erst jetzt die Premiere? “Mein Team ließ mich nicht. Sie wollten, dass ich langsam wachse, nur eine große Rundfahrt pro Jahr mache. Aber jetzt fühle ich mich bereit dafür", erklärte er.

Der Slowene hat sich viel vorgenommen: Er will Geschichte schreiben, konkret will er das schaffen, was dem ehemaligen Superstar Marco Pantani vor 26 Jahren gelang - den Giro und die Tour de France gewinnen.

"Ich glaube, jeder möchte das Double schaffen, und es ist eines der schwierigsten Dinge, die man erreichen kann", sagte der 25-Jährige. Er wäre im Erfolgsfall der achte Fahrer, dem das in der über 100-jährigen Geschichte der Rundfahrt gelingt.

Wer ihn dabei nicht aufhalten wird, ist Vorjahressieger Pimoz Roglic, der sich komplett auf die Tour de France konzentriert. Er hat das "Triple" im Blick: Nach Vuelta und Giro wäre das der Sieg bei der Tour de France. Die Form passt. Zuletzt gewann er den Klassiker Lüttich-Bastogne-Lüttich.

Wer gehört also zu den Herausforderern von Pogacar? Der Vorjahreszweite Geraint Thomas will es in diesem Jahr nochmal wissen. Ihn zeichnet die Erfahrung aus. 2018 hat er die Tour de France gewonnen, 2019 wurde er Zweiter. 

Romain Bardet, der französische Radrennprofi, hat ebenfalls große Ambitionen. Ein weiterer Name, der unter den Favoriten des Giro 2024 oft genannt wird, ist Ben O’Connor. Der australische Rundfahrtspezialist hat bereits bewiesen, dass er sowohl in einwöchigen als auch in dreiwöchigen Rennen hervorragende Ergebnisse erzielen kann.

Cian Uijtdebroeks könnte sich als echter Geheimfavorit erweisen. Der junge Belgier beeindruckte bereits mit einem achten Platz in der Gesamtwertung der Vuelta. Neben Uijtdebroeks sollten auch die italienischen Radsportler Antonio Tiberi und Damiano Caruso vom Team Bahrain im Auge behalten werden. Beide gehören zum erweiterten Kreis der Favoriten.
