Tips for Buying Watch Travel Cases

Pick the best size for your needs.

Not all luggage is created equally — and buying even smaller accessories such as watch travel cases should be relevant to your particular needs. You’ll want to consider how many watches a case can carry and how much room it will take up in your luggage (which might relate to how protective it is). Don’t go larger than you need to, but be careful not to get something too small to fit your timepieces.

Consider adding security and other special features

Depending on your specific needs, the value of the watches you’re trying to protect, and the budget you’re set aside for a case, there are a range of added features available. You may want to look for a travel case that is lockable, so you can leave your watches with confidence if they’re beyond your reach while you’re in transit. Other features to consider are how discreet the watch case looks; if the worst happens and someone breaks into your luggage, you may not want a case that overtly screams, “Expensive watches in here!” Going for something a little more understated could therefore be its own form of security.

This is probably a bigger answer than you’d expect. Yes, cases keep the elements away from your watch and, in many instances, offer waterproof protection, impact protection, or, at a minimum, scratch resistance from other items in your luggage. But watch cases also offer a degree of security. Some can be locked, or easily tucked away in your luggage, so you can travel with confidence knowing that your watch is staying put as you reach your final destination.

The difference between a watch travel case and a watch roll is exactly what it sounds like — watch rolls store your watch in a rolled-up shape that mimics the shape of a human wrist. For more complicated and expensive watches, it can be better to store your watches in a rolled-up shape, which protects the structural integrity of the wrist band, and prevents the sliding and bunching which can sometimes happen in flat travel cases.

Care depends on the material of the watch travel case itself. Most cases are made from durable materials which can be cleaned with a soft cloth, or in some instances, a barely damp soft cloth. If your watch travel case is made from leather, you’ll also want to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for leather care (such as conditioning periodically) so that it lasts for many adventures to come.

It’s all in the details. Some basic travel cases are little more than a nylon envelope with a zipper whereas others have design details such as magnetic flap closures, hand stitching, Italian leather, or hidden compartments to carry small accessories or watch repair tools. But just because a travel case is more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean it will protect your timepieces any better than a less expensive model; read the product descriptions closely to see what kind of features your watch case includes.

Why Meta's Ray-Ban Smart Glasses are my favorite tech purchase this year

During CES 2024, I went to Sunglasses Hut to try on a pair of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses to feed my curious mind. I didn't expect to purchase a pair, but I did, and five months later, these glasses are my favorite purchase of 2024 so far. The best part is that the device has only improved with time.

I've tried smart glasses in the past, but they have all been bulky and uncomfortable to wear for more than five minutes. The glasses always feel like I'm wearing a gadget on my face. The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are different, though -- these are sunglasses first and smart glasses second. The tech takes a backseat, not only in the design of the glasses but also in the design of the charging case, which looks like a regular sunglasses case.

When you look at Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, they look and feel like sunglasses instead of a gadget. That subtlety is a standout feature for me. I bought the Headliner variant of the glasses for $329, which suits my style, and I haven't carried my sunglasses since. You can get the Ray-Bans with transmission lenses for indoor wear, but that option is only available in Wayfarer style, which starts at $299.

1. Brilliant design and even better functionality

I couldn't have been happier that I bought these Ray-Bans before traveling to Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles for two specific reasons: video and sound.

Recording your experiences on theme park rides is difficult, especially rollercoasters. I got great footage while using the Ray-Bans to record the outdoor Harry Potter ride. Outdoor shots have excellent stabilization for such a small form factor, so my walking shots around the theme park looked amazing, too.

The footage might not be as good as from a GoPro device , but I got good point-of-view shots without attaching another camera to my body or cap. I didn't count my smart glasses as an "extra device" because I would have been wearing sunglasses outdoors anyway. After all, I wore my "normal" sunglasses at Universal Studios Singapore last year.

I was also impressed by the quality of the lowlight video footage. I recorded the Sorting Hat in Hogwarts, and the footage looked like something taken on a $400 smartphone.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses also double as earbuds. These aren't in-ear buds, so sound leaks will happen, but that's not a problem if there's already plenty of ambient noise around you. In noisy areas, I had to turn the volume to 100%, and still needed more. 90% of the time, however, I didn't feel that I needed louder volume.

The sound quality on the Ray-Bans isn't what you'd get in expensive standalone earbuds , but it still takes your theme park experience to the next level because the music feels like ambient sound that's part of the environment. You can trigger Spotify or Apple Music by tapping and holding the touchpad on the right arm of the glasses.

With standalone earbuds, you also get mics -- and these Ray-Bans are no different. They house multiple microphones, and the quality is surprisingly good. I've received many calls on these smart glasses and callers said they didn't notice much difference in sound quality from my usual earbuds ( the OnePlus Buds 3 ).

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses last for about two hours when used heavily. My usage included continuous music, a couple of calls, and a lot of camera footage. I've also worn the glasses continuously for five hours with 10% battery, as I wasn't listening to much music and only using the camera moderately. The official figure from Meta quotes four hours of battery life, which includes "capturing and syncing 100 videos or up to 500 photos." I'm glad the Ray-Bans still work as sunglasses with zero charge.

Another important factor to consider when buying companion devices, such as a smartwatch or a smart ring for your phone, is how they charge, because you'll be charging them often. It's a hassle when these devices require proprietary charging. Thankfully, that's not an issue on the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses because the charging case requires the same wire as your phone -- a Type-C cable. 

As for privacy, these glasses include a white LED light on the opposite side of the camera, which triggers when you're recording a video or taking a photo. In public, it doesn't attract attention, but if you're recording someone directly, they'll be aware.

2. This is the perfect AI form factor

Unlike recently launched AI-enabled gadgets, including Rabbit's R1 and Humane's Ai Pin , the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses aren't AI-first. These glasses have stayed with me because, instead of trying to replace my phone, they are a great companion device. 

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses also now include the Meta AI assistant , which was rolled out last month. I haven't tried the assistant on my device yet, but I've asked the glasses to place calls and music with the "Hey Meta" trigger, which works flawlessly.

I think these Ray-Bans are the perfect form factor for an AI device. The speakers are near your ears, and that positioning creates more intimate feedback than announcing something on a speaker attached to your body or through a device held in your palm.

There is room for improvement

I haven't been irritated by a bug in the glasses, but I have been annoyed when the camera records in a 3:4 aspect ratio instead of 9:16. This switch wouldn't have been a problem if there was a way to change the ratio in the settings, but there's no way to set the aspect ratio from the Meta View app. The glasses are meant to record at 9:16, so it isn't clear why the output on the app is 3:4.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses don't record actual point-of-view video from the line of your eyes but from a slightly right-angled view. For those of you who are used to mounting an Insta360 Go 3 or a GoPro on your head, and expect these smart glasses to capture a similar angle, you'll be surprised. I thought I'd get used to the right-angled view, but my footage often has a lot of space to my left side.

While the glasses recharge quickly, I'd like better battery life on Meta's next-generation Ray-Bans. I use my glasses for playing music on my commute. This usage drains half the battery by the time I reach the event where I want to record a video. Also, if you're getting these glasses with transition lenses to wear for most of the day, you won't be able to. 

Despite these flaws, I use my Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses daily and consider them one of my best investments in a while.

Olivia Munn wanted to do something special for her son, Malcolm, in case she didn’t survive her scary cancer battle.

“If I didn’t make it, I wanted my son, when he got older, to know that I fought to be here, that I tried my best,” the actress, who shares the 2-year-old with partner John Mulaney, admitted on “Good Morning America” Thursday.

“You want the people in your life that maybe don’t understand what’s going on right now to know that you did everything you could to be here.”

“The Newsroom” star, 43, was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023.

A month later, she underwent a double mastectomy followed by four more surgeries, including a hysterectomy and hormone treatments that resulted in a medically induced menopause.

Munn publicly revealed her health news earlier this year in an emotional post shared via Instagram.

“I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next,” she wrote at the time.

During her “GMA” appearance, the “Daily Show” alum also explained that her first thought when told of the cancer diagnosis was of her son.

“I just thought of my baby,” she shared. “Cancer, that’s the word you don’t want to hear…cancer takes down a lot of people.”

Before beginning treatment, Munn froze her eggs in hopes of still having more children one day.

“John and I had a long talk about it,” she revealed. “We realized we [weren’t] done growing our family.”

Munn was looking to retrieve only one healthy embryo but ended up with two, which made both her and the comedian, 41, burst into joyful tears.

“The Predator” star raved about Mulaney’s support on “GMA,” calling him the “best human being.” However, she did reveal one gripe.

“The one problem is he makes me laugh so much,” she adorably gushed. “Sometimes I have to tell him to leave the room … I’m literally going to pop a stitch.”

The couple began dating in 2021 following Mulaney’s divorce from his wife of six years , Anna Marie Tendler. The “Everybody’s in LA” host has been by Munn’s side throughout her cancer recovery.

"Extreme" G5 geomagnetic storm reaches Earth, NOAA says, following "unusual" solar event

An "extreme" G5 geomagnetic storm reached Earth on Friday, NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center said , after issuing a watch earlier in the day warning of the potential for a severe impact. 

The watch followed days of solar activity that sent several explosions of plasma and magnetic fields toward Earth. 

G5 is the strongest level of geomagnetic storm , on a scale from G1 to G5. 

"Widespread voltage control problems and protective system problems can occur," NOAA warns. "Some grid systems may experience complete collapse or blackouts. Transformers may experience damage." 

Radio transmissions and satellite navigation may also be disrupted.

The last G5 geomagnetic storm, in October 2003, caused power outages in Sweden and damaged transformers in South Africa.

A geomagnetic storm also means aurora borealis , otherwise known as the northern lights , could be seen as far south as Alabama and in Northern California. 

Earlier, NOAA had issued its first watch for a potential G4-level geomagnetic storm in almost 20 years. "If geomagnetic storms were hurricanes, 'severe' would be category 4," SpaceWeather.com says. 

In a press release on Thursday, NOAA said the most recent series of solar events started on May 8, when a large cluster of sunspots produced "several moderate to strong solar flares." Solar flares are bursts of radiation known to be the solar system's largest explosive events, according to NASA. The area where the flares are occurring is 16 times the diameter of Earth, the NOAA said, and more solar activity is expected. 

That sunspot is so big you may be able to see it with your own eyes  — with your solar eclipse glasses. The spot is known as AR3664 , and it was responsible for most of the geomagnetic activity Friday, the NOAA reported. According to Space.com, it measures about 124,000 miles across and is one of the "largest and most active sunspots seen this solar cycle." 

The NOAA reported that a strong solar flare was observed peaking from AR3664 at 9:23 p.m. Eastern Time Friday. 

"Flares of this magnitude are not frequent," the prediction center said .

There has also been a series of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which are explosions of plasma  and magnetic fields that come out of the sun's corona, the outermost part of the sun's atmosphere. At least five CMEs appear directed toward Earth and could arrive as early as midday on Friday and persist through Sunday, the agency said. 

"This is an unusual event," NOAA said.

In a call with reporters on Friday, Shawn Dahl, service coordinator at the Space Weather Prediction Center, said that some CMEs "are catching up with other ones." He said officials are expecting a "big shock arrival" when they hit Earth. Dahl said at the time that while officials weren't predicting a G5 storm — the strongest of geomagnetic storms — they couldn't discount a "low-end G5 event."

"We're really buckling down here," Brent Gordon, chief of the space weather services branch, also said on the call.

G4 conditions were detected by Friday afternoon, marking a "major disturbance in Earth's magnetic field," NOAA said, adding that "the public should stay properly informed of storm progression."  

In a forecast discussion at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center said that solar activity is expected to continue at "high to very high levels" through the weekend, with additional solar flares expected, including X-class flares , the most powerful class of solar flares.

As of Friday afternoon, NOAA said it had observed a moderate solar radiation storm that could expose people in high-flying aircraft to "elevated radiation risk" and cause infrequent issues with satellite operations. 

Radio blackouts have also been detected with an R3 designation, meaning that the blackouts were "strong" on a scale from R1 (minor) to R5 (extreme). At this level, wide blackouts of HF radio communication is expected, as well as loss of radio contact, for about an hour on the sunlit side of Earth, as low-frequency navigation signals decline for roughly an hour. 

"Geomagnetic storms can impact infrastructure in near-Earth orbit and on Earth's surface, potentially disrupting communications, the electric power grid, navigation, radio and satellite operations," NOAA said. "[The Space Weather Prediction Center] has notified the operators of these systems so they can take protective action."

Dahl agreed Friday that the event is "pretty extraordinary" and said that it could impact infrastructure, including high-voltage transmission lines of the power grid. Dahl said that infrastructure operators have been notified to adequately prepare. 

This is the first time a storm watch has been issued for a G4 since January 2005. There is an average of 100 severe geomagnetic storms every solar cycle, but so far, there have only been three observed in the most recent cycle that began in December 2019. The most recent occurred on March 23.

Illuminating the night sky with pink, green and gray colors, the northern lights made its appearance in the United Kingdom and the northern half of the United States on Friday. The magical phenomena could happen again tonight.

The show fascinated many onlookers as they took out their phones to capture the beauty of the night sky. On Friday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued extreme (G5) conditions across the United States. A storm of this intensity has not been seen since October 2003. The storm gained the name "Halloween Storm" and caused many power outages in Sweden and damaged transformers in South Africa, according to Earth.com .

Meteorologists have predicted that the northern lights can be visible on Saturday as well as Sunday. If you are going outside to see the northern lights, forecasters want to remind the public that their solar eclipse glasses can be used for viewing the phenomenon.

Here's what you need to know to prepare for the next viewing of the northern lights.

The northern lights: Danced across the US last night. It could happen again Saturday.

What is the cloud forecast Saturday night? Will clouds block the northern lights?

If you missed the aurora borealis Friday night, you might still catch a glimpse on Saturday or Sunday, depending on where you live. But not if clouds get in the way.

The cloud forecast for Saturday night is generally good for most of America, but some of the people who missed their chance last night due to clouds may have a similar problem Saturday, said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Tom Kines. Areas that are likely to be cloudy include New England and Mid-Atlantic regions, as well as parts of the Southern Plains, including Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado.

“Even just a few breaks in the clouds will allow the aurora to be visible,” Kines said. “There’s always hope.”

Peak visibility time Saturday night will be between 9 p.m. and midnight, with some chance until 2 a.m., Kines said. The best views will be in dark areas away from the light pollution of cities, he said, though some reported seeing the auroras Friday night from metro areas like Milwaukee and Detroit.

Sunday night, if there is any aurora to see, those in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic can rejoice, because Kines said the skies should be clearer.

Where can you see the northern lights tonight?

The Space and Weather Prediction Center  offers an experimental forecast map  that shows the aurora may be visible in a wide swath of the U.S. including Oregon, Nebraska, Indiana and Pennsylvania. Other states like California, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida could also see the sky light up again for an encore performance. But visibility will depend on shifting factors that include weather, pollution and cloud cover.

Below are forecast predictions for seeing the northern lights in New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana on Saturday.

Rain and clouds are expected to damper expectations to see the aurora borealis around the Rochester, N.Y. area . Elsewhere in NY, the  Lower Hudson Valley could see the lights again, if weather permits. 

NWS maps predicting the intensity and location of the northern lights Saturday and Sunday show the aurora will be visible in mid to northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be mostly cloudy with some rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. The NWS predicted 48% to 58% sky cover in metro Detroit from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. The western portion of both peninsulas are expected to have a lower cloud cover.

In the Milwaukee area , the evening is expected to bring mostly clear skies and overnight will have scattered clouds, said Tim Halbach, local meteorologist with the National Weather Service. 

Those living around the Cincinnati region could be treated to the northern lights Saturday night with the NWS' Wilmington, Ohio , office forecasting dry, partly cloudy conditions. Clouds shouldn't be an issue as many Ohioans reported seeing the lights Friday despite some cloud cover.

 In a telephone interview, Mike Bettwy, operations chief of the NOAA's  Space Weather Prediction Center  in Boulder, Co, said Indianapolis and surrounding areas might have a better chance of seeing the aurora today and Sunday.

They can expect clear skies tonight, Bettwy said.

"The aurora itself might be actually a little bit less active than it was last night," he told IndyStar. "I think the ability for you to see it will be better because the skies will be clearing out — at least in the Indianapolis area and that immediate vicinity."

Northern lights forecast path

If you want to get a better idea of if you will be able to see the northern lights from your state, check NOAA's aurora forecast tool , which has a 30-minute forecast window. 

The auroras are a natural light display in Earth's sky that are famously best seen in high-latitude regions.

Scientist left amazed by the aurora

The aurora seen on May 10 amazed Antonella Fruscione, an astrophysicist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. She sent photos of the lights and the April eclipse to her friends in Italy. The northern lights weren't as prominent in Italy as it was in other places.

"And I sent them the picture that I took at the solar eclipse and I said, 'Can you imagine how fortunate I was this year, one month apart, I see these two incredible spectacles of the universe,'" she recalled telling them.

The phenomena seen Friday and possibly Saturday night isn't usual, she said.

"It's a very rare occurrence, especially because last night it was really visible," Fruscione said.

That's because the Earth's magnetic activity was at a nine, the highest the index goes, coupled with the Sun being at an active peak, causing eruptions. She added the colors cannot be predicted either as it depends on how the solar energetic particles interact with oxygen and nitrogen atoms. Oxygen appears green, while nitrogen appears purple, blue or pink, she said.

"It just depends on which atoms in the atmosphere this particle interact with," Fruscione said.

She declined to predict how strong Saturday's aurora could be as it's not in her expertise, but said people make predictions all the time about space weather not just for the northern lights, but to ensure communications, space stations, astronauts and other matter in space doesn't get majorly disrupted.

Down on Earth, however, the activity is harmless to humans.

"It's completely harmless because the particles do not don't do not reach us," Fruscione said. "The reason why we see the colors is that the particle interacts with the atoms and they make these beautiful colors and that's it."

For Saturday, and any other day where chatter about the aurora borealis is high, Fruscione encouraged people to download an aurora forecasting app to their phones so they can see the colorful skies.

What are the northern lights?

The northern lights materialize when energized particles from the sun reach Earth's upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million mph,  according to Space.com . Earth's magnetic field redirects the particles toward the poles through a process that produces a stunning display of rays, spirals and flickers that has fascinated humans for millennia.

CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan  has a story about one schedule wish for every NFL team in 2024 and some of them really caught our attention.

For the Arizona Cardinals, he wrote: "To face the Patriots or Commanders at home in Week 1 for a winnable game out of the gate."

For the Los Angeles Rams, he wrote: "Face the Lions in Detroit on Thanksgiving (Matthew Stafford's revenge game?)."

How many miles will Arizona Cardinals travel in 2024 NFL schedule?

Bookies.com took a look at mow many miles every NFL team will travel in the regular season in 2024 and the Arizona Cardinals are 13th on the list, with 12 teams traveling further than they will.

The site has Arizona traveling 21,064 miles for their away games this season, which is less than their NFC West rivals with the San Francisco 49ers set to travel 24,575 miles, the Seattle Seahawks at 25,797 miles and the Los Angeles Rams at 24,263 miles.

Could Arizona Cardinals play on Christmas Day in 2024?

Cards Wire's Howard Balzer looked at the possibility of the Cardinals and the NFC West being involved in the Christmas Day games in 2024, and the previous Saturday on a four-day turnaround.

He wrote: "It is important to know that the four teams will all likely be from the same division. So don’t count out the NFC West from being that division. It makes a lot of sense. The 49ers are the defending NFC champions and the four quarterbacks are attractive: Kyler Murray, Brock Purdy, Matthew Stafford and Geno Smith."

Arizona Cardinals' 2024 NFL record prediction

We don't know the Cardinals' exact schedule yet, but that hasn't stopped one site from predicting Arizona's record for the 2024 season.

The Sporting News predicts that the Cardinals will go 5-12 in 2024.

David Suggs wrote: "The Cardinals are likely to be outmatched by their NFC West competition, lacking the sort of top-end talent and consistency needed to become a contender for postseason play. Kyler Murray enjoyed a solid, if unspectacular return to the field last season. One would reckon that he comes into next season closer to his peak performance levels. Will it matter, though? The Cards won four games last year. No matter how well Murray plays, it will be a challenge to justify his massive price tag, especially given the lack of production across the roster that surrounds him."

No International Games for Arizona Cardinals in 2024

The Arizona Cardinals will not be playing out of the country this season.

We already knew that the Philadelphia Eagles would host the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 in Brazil, but we now know the rest of the NFL International Games schedule for 2024.

The NFL Network announced Wednesday morning that the Minnesota Vikings would host the New York Jets on Oct. 6 (Week 5) in London, the Chicago Bears would host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 13 (Week 6) in London and the Jaguars would host the New England Patriots on Oct. 20 (Week 7) in London.

It also announced that the Carolina Panthers would host the New York Giants on Nov. 10 (Week 10) in Munich, Germany.

Some had speculated that Arizona might be a road opponent in an international game this season, but that speculation has now been put to rest with the official announcement.

Report: Arizona Cardinals to host New Orleans Saints in preseason Week 1

Well, it's not a regular season game, but we do have a leak for the Arizona Cardinals' preseason.

According to NOLA.com 's Jeff Duncan, the Cardinals are expected to host the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of the NFL preseason at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on the weekend of Aug. 9-12.

The NFL has announced that the 2024 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 15 at 5 p.m. Pacific (8 p.m. Eastern) making the previously reported day official.

The schedule release show can be watch on NFL Network, NFL.com, the NFL app and NFL+.

ESPN will also have a two-hour special on the schedule release on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Pacific on ESPN2 and simulcast on ESPN+.

We don't know when NFL "grudge" games will be played in 2024, but there will be some very interesting ones on the 2024 NFL schedule.

USA TODAY Sports  broke down 15 games that could attract a lot of attention in the upcoming season because of players or coaches facing former teams.

The Los Angeles Chargers vs. Baltimore Ravens' Harbaugh Bowl will definitely attract a lot of eyeballs, as will the Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers rematch.

One potentially underrated one that caught our attention on the list? The Washington Commanders at the Arizona Cardinals, which will mark former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury's return to Arizona (and one-time Arizona State QB Jayden Daniels' return to the state).

Interestingly,  SB Nation  recently published a story about three NFL teams who deserve more primetime games on the 2024 NFL schedule and the Arizona Cardinals were included among the three.

Joseph Acosta wrote: "Fighting for some shine in a loaded NFC West, the Cardinals spent the first quarter of 2023 looking like one of the worst teams of the NFL. However, after QB Kyler Murray returned, the Cardinals began to look like one of the more intriguing teams for the future. Again, it’s the offense that takes most of the shine here. Murray, TE Trey McBride, and rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. give fans something to look for when the Cardinals play. Murray plays really exciting football, and if Harrison Jr. can be the outside receiver we all think he can be, then the Cardinals should be extremely exciting. Defensively, the team is still slowly coming along, but safety Budda Baker is still a very fun player to watch. With Murray running around throwing passes to Harrison Jr., this will be one of the most fun teams to watch this year."

The Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts were the other two teams that deserved more primetime games, according to the story.

How many wins will Arizona Cardinals get in 2024? NFL win total odds are out

We may not know the NFL schedule for teams in the 2024 season, but we do know the opponents each team will face.

And that's evidently enough to determine over/under win total odds for each NFL team in the upcoming season, according to one sportsbook.

FanDuel Sportsbook  has released regular season win total odds for every NFL team ahead of the  2024 NFL schedule release  and they offer an idea about how many wins Las Vegas thinks every team will get this season.

The sportsbook puts Arizona's over/under point total at 6.5 wins. The Cardinals are -150 to get over 6.5 wins and they are +122 to get under 6.5 wins.

Arizona Cardinals' strength of schedule for 2024 NFL season

How does the Arizona Cardinals' 2024 schedule compare with other teams in the NFC West and the NFL?

In terms of strength of schedule based on last year's record? Very favorably.

Arizona's opponents this season went 141-148 last season for a win percentage of .488, tied with their NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks and the Miami Dolphins for the 24th hardest strength of schedule on the 2024 NFL schedule.

Only six teams have easier schedules for the upcoming season, according to that metric.

The other two NFC West teams, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, are tied for the 12th most difficult strength of schedule this season with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets. The opponents of those teams went 146-143 last season for a win percentage of .505.

Arizona Cardinals should play San Francisco 49ers in NFL Week 1

Brandon Ray of Fansided makes the case for the Cardinals to open the season against the San Francisco 49ers,

He writes: "In order to be taken seriously and prove that they can be a true contender, the Cardinals need the best possible opponent right out of the gate. Their opponent should be none other than the San Francisco 49ers. ... Say what you want, but the Cardinals need to be tested big time right from the start to see what they are and what they could be moving forward. There is no better opponent for them to take on than the 49ers at the start of the regular season."

Update: Arizona Cardinals not playing San Francisco 49ers in NFL Week 1

It would have made for a great game, but the Cardinals will not be facing the 49ers in NFL Week 1, because ABC announced that the 49ers would be hosting the New York Jets on Monday Night Football in the opening week of the 2024 NFL season.

The game will be played on ESPN and ABC on Sept. 9.

Best-case scenarios for Arizona Cardinals' 2024 schedule

Fansided broke down four best-case scenarios for the Cardinals' 2024 schedule, looking at how Arizona could avoid cold-weather games, the team playing the Miami Dolphins in November/December, the Chicago Bears coming to Arizona in September and facing the Los Angeles Rams twice early.

Of the Rams' scenario, Brandon Ray writes: "Since 2017, the Cardinals have beaten the Los Angeles Rams just three times. Long story short, the Cardinals have a tough time defeating the Rams. While Arizona should be able to try and beat the Rams at any point, they would benefit heavily by facing the Rams twice early on so that the matchups are done and over sooner than later. The Cardinals only put up 23 total points against the Rams last season, while LA would score no less than 26 points in a game against Arizona. One factor to consider when these two matchup is that the Rams will no longer have Aaron Donald causing chaos."
