Es ist seine Woche: Mit einer Flugshow der französischen Kunstfliegerstaffel und einer unangekündigten goldenen Ehrenpalme hat das Filmfestival in Cannes bereits Tom Cruise geehrt. Am Donnerstag jettete der Schauspieler weiter – nach London . Bei der Filmpremiere von »Top Gun: Maverick« traf er auf dem roten Teppich auf Prinz William und Kate. Und zeigte sich besonders galant.

Als sich Kate in einem langen, engen Kleid mit einigen Treppenstufen konfrontiert sah, bot Cruise ihr sogleich seine Hand an, die Kate nur zu bereitwillig ergriff. Fotos und kurze Clips von Cruises Galanterie gingen online gleich viral. Aber auch für Prinz William hatte Cruise Aufmerksamkeit übrig.

Mit dem Prinzen habe er viel gemeinsam, sagte Cruise. »Wir beide lieben England, und wir sind beide Flieger, wir beide lieben das Fliegen.« Prinz William wurde als Such- und Rettungspilot ausgebildet und war als Flight Lieutenant Wales in der Royal Air Force bekannt. Cruise spielte in »Top Gun« die Figur von U.S.-Navy-Pilot Pete »Maverick« Mitchell, fliegt aber nicht nur vor der Kamera.

Zur Cannes-Premiere des Films flog Cruise etwa dem Filmthema entsprechend im Hubschrauber . Das Publikum applaudierte nach der Vorführung des außer Konkurrenz laufenden Actionfilms mehrere Minuten lang im Stehen. In London wiederum stellte Cruise William und Kate sowie den Darstellern des Films, darunter Jennifer Connelly und Jon Hamm , das Modell eines Kampfjets aus dem Film vor.

Die Premiere des Films wurde wegen der Coronapandemie mehrfach verschoben. Eigentlich sollte die Fortsetzung des Blockbusters schon vor Jahren starten. Dass der Film nun endlich in die Kinos kommt und gleich mehrere Premieren feiert, war für Cruise eine große Freude. »Nach den letzten paar Jahren ist es schon außergewöhnlich, eine Veranstaltung wie diese zu haben«, sagte er in London.

Vergessen Sie Maverick und Goose, die Herzogin von Cambridge zeigte sich gestern Abend an der Seite ihres persönlichen Piloten zur Londoner Filmpremiere von "Top Gun: Maverick" am Leicester Square. Aber die Rede ist nicht von Tom Cruise, sondern ihrem Gemahl Prinz William – er ist nämlich ein ausgebildeter Pilot. Er leitete drei Jahre lang Such- und Rettungseinsätze von der RAF Valley auf Anglesey, als er und Kate dort als Frischvermählte lebten, bevor er weitere zwei Jahre lang als Pilot bei der East Anglian Air Ambulance diente. 

Und obwohl es beeindruckend sein mag, einen Kampfjet in einem 4G-Sturzflug zu fliegen, richtete sich unser Blick viel lieber auf die Mode. Um genau zu sein: auf Kate Middletons schulterfreie Robe in Schwarz-Weiß von Roland Mouret, die sie stolz auf dem roten Teppich neben Stars wie Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly und Val Kilmer präsentierte. Dazu kombinierte die Herzogin Robinson-Pelham-Ohrringe in Sternschnuppen-Form, schwarze Prada-Pumps mit Cut-out-Details und eine schwarze Alexander-McQueen-Clutch.

Egal bei welcher Filmpremiere Kate Middleton erscheint, sie stellt jeden Film in den Schatten

Obwohl sie sich am wohlsten in ihrer "Mädchen von nebenan"-Garderobe (die Jeans, Barbour-Jacken und flache Penelope-Chilvers-Stiefel umfasst) zu fühlen scheint, weiß Kate auch den Glamour zu schätzen. Als Präsident der "British Academy Film Awards" (kurz: BAFTA) hat Prinz William ein großes Interesse an Filmen, und so bieten Filmpremieren den perfekten Anlass für Kate Middleton, ihre elegante Abendgarderobe auszuführen. 

Bei der "James Bond 007: Keine Zeit zu sterben"-Premiere im vergangenen September trug sie ein goldenes Jenny-Packham-Kleid , das mit so vielen Pailletten verziert war, dass es die Royal Albert Hall zum Leuchten brachte. Und für die BAFTAs 2017 wählte die Herzogin ein schulterfreies schwarzes Kleid mit zarten Blumenverzierungen von Alexander McQueen, ihrem vielleicht liebsten Luxusmodehaus. Genau wegen solch atemberaubender Looks fällt es schwer, Kate nicht zu bewundern.

Chic, black and white outfits for Kate Middleton, Prince William and Tom Cruise

30 years after his last appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise came to present his newest Top Gun film, and had the honor to walk the red carpet with Kate Middleton and Prince William. For the occasion, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a black Roland Mouret dress adorned with a sharp white boat neck. This outfit saw searches for the keywords "Bardot dress" and "Black and White dress" spike by more than 200%.

Apart from the undeniable elegance of her Roland Mouret dress, Kate Middleton also seduced fans because, unconsciously perhaps, she was in tune with the two men who surrounded her (unless they modeled their look on the Duchess'?). Prince William and Tom Cruise both wore a black suit, white shirt and black bow tie. The result created a true black and and white optical effect when you look at the pictures of the three stars together.

The Duchess of Cambridge Steals the Show at the Top Gun: Maverick Premiere in London

Forget Maverick and Goose, Kate Middleton had the ultimate wingman at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick tonight: her Roland Mouret gown. The royal stole the show at UK premiere of the blockbuster sequel, which sees Tom Cruise reprise his most famous role 36 years on. Kate and her husband Prince William joined stars including Cruise, Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer on the red carpet in Leicester Square.

Though she’s famously happiest in her girl-next-door wardrobe of jeans, Barbour jackets and flat Penelope Chilvers boots, Kate—like any seasoned royal—knows how to ramp up the glamour when the occasion calls for it. She out-sparkled every A-lister at the No Time to Die premiere last September, wearing a gold Jenny Packham gown embellished with enough sequins to light up the Royal Albert Hall. 

To attend the 2017 BAFTAs, the Duchess chose an off-the-shoulder black gown with delicate floral embellishment by perhaps her favorite luxury fashion house, Alexander McQueen. Two years later, Kate had the dress altered, adding demure cap sleeves for a gala at the National Portrait Gallery. It was a statement of intent for the royal, who is increasingly conscious with her fashion choices, as evidenced by her growing appetite for vintage . 

As the president of BAFTA, Prince William has a keen interest in film, but it could be that the ’80s classic Top Gun holds a special place in the heart of the Duke, who is, after all, a trained pilot. William spent three years leading search and rescue missions out of RAF Valley on Anglesey when he and Kate lived there as newlyweds, before serving as a pilot in the East Anglia Air Ambulance for a further two years. It’s not quite flying a fighter jet in a 4G inverted dive, but it’s impressive nonetheless.

Kate Middleton and Prince William Hit the Red Carpet with Tom Cruise at 'Top Gun: Maverick' Premiere

The premiere isn't the first time the royal couple has seen the sequel to the 1986 hit!

Kate Middleton and Prince William feel the need, the need for speed!

The royal couple hit the red carpet for the U.K. premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in London's Leicester Square on Thursday evening alongside the film's star, Tom Cruise . Kate wore a black floor-length Roland Mouret gown with a white off-the-shoulder neckline shown off by her hair loose but worn tucked behind her ears , which also highlighted her statement earrings.

Meanwhile, Prince William went with a classic black tuxedo and bow tie — but had some fun with the theme of the night via his shoes. He sported Crockett & Jones loafers embroidered with F18 planes!

William, who was a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot himself, and Kate were also introduced to other cast members, like Jennifer Connelly Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise's comrade Goose from the original movie.

At one point in the night, Cruise offered his hand to Kate as she climbed a few stairs.

The London premiere won't be the first time Prince William , 39, and Kate, 40, have seen the highly anticipated film. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were reportedly treated to a special screening of the Top Gun sequel at the invitation of Cruise, who had heard William was a fan of the original 1986 movie.

"We have a lot in common," Cruise said of the royal at the premiere, according to My London . "We both love England and we're both aviators, we both love flying."

The premiere was hosted by Paramount Pictures and The Film and TV Charity and will be the 72nd Royal Film Performance put on by the charity in its almost 100-year history. The charity supports hundreds of thousands of people working behind the scenes in Britain's film and television industry and was called upon, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic when many technicians and skilled craftspeople lost their livelihoods.

For Cruise, 59, it won't be his only royal encounter of the week. On Sunday, the actor co-hosted a star-studded televised event celebrating Queen Elizabeth 's 70-year reign at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The monarch, 96, made a rare outing for the performance of "A Gallop Through History," appearing delighted as she watched acting and musical performances as well as horse displays.

Cruise previously met the late Prince Philip in 2017 during a dinner marking the 75th Anniversary of The Outward Bound Trust at Buckingham Palace.

And he mingled with the late Princess Diana along with his ex-wife and actress Nicole Kidman in 1992 at the Leicester Square Empire Cinema during the premiere of the romantic drama film Far and Away . Cruise also attended the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997 alongside Kidman.

Prince William , as president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and Kate are no strangers to movie premieres. In September, Kate glittered in a gold Jenny Packham gown with a dramatic cape for the red carpet premiere of the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die .

Prince William and Kate Middleton have made their red carpet debut at the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick .

On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Leicester Square in London ahead of the film screening, with the duchess opting for an off-the-shoulder black and white gown by Roland Mouret for the occasion.

The duchess wore her hair in a sleek straight style, and accessorised with a black clutch and dangling star statement earrings.

Prince William also opted for a classic look, with the duke joining his wife on the red carpet in a classic blue velvet tuxedo jacket and black bow tie.

The royal couple were joined on the red carpet by Tom Cruise , who helped the duchess up a pair of steps at one point by offering his hand.

While speaking to reporters ahead of the premiere, Cruise also reportedly discussed the similarities he shares with the Duke of Cambridge, according to MyLondon .

“We have a lot in common. We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying,” the actor said.

During the duke and duchess’s first red carpet event of the year, they were also accompanied by John Hamm, Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise’s partner Goose from the original movie.

The royal couple last attended a movie premiere in September, when they were accompanied by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at the UK premiere of No Time to Die at the Royal Albert Hall. For the premiere of the James Bond film, the duchess wore a metallic-sequined  Jenny Packham  dress, complete with a sheer cape and structured shoulders.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a "Top Gun: Maverick" screening this week, and interacted with the film's leading star while there.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the event in London, England, on Thursday, and were joined on the red carpet by Tom Cruise.

The trio headed up a small set of stairs at one point during the event, which could have been difficult for Middleton as she was wearing a form-fitting Roland Mouret dress and pointed-pump heels.

That's when Cruise stepped in and held the royal's hand for support, as seen in photos taken on the red carpet.

The British royals and Cruise appeared to have a conversation during their walk, but it was Middleton who stole the show at the event.

She stood out on the red carpet thanks to her gown — which was black with a white, off-the-shoulder neckline — as well as her accessories.

The duchess wore star-shaped earrings, a black clutch, and her family-heirloom wedding ring . Middleton also donned neutral makeup and her hair in a sleek yet wavy style.

After making it to the top of the event steps, the duke and duchess greeted other stars from the movie. Still, they stayed near Cruise and continued chatting with him.

Cruise and Prince William matched in traditional tuxedos and black bow ties. The prince's shoes, however, were a little more fun.

He wore loafers designed by Crockett & Jones that were embroidered with F-18 planes in honor of the movie.

Middleton and Cruise seemingly enjoyed their time together, with some photos taken at the event showing them sharing a laugh as Prince William talks to other attendees.

Auch in einem späteren Interview sprach Cruise gegenüber «Sky News»-Reportern von Kate in den höchsten Tönen. «Wir haben viel gemeinsam. Wir lieben beide England und wir lieben beide das Fliegen», so der « Mission Impossible »-Darsteller.

Sieht ganz danach aus, als würde Prinz William Konkurrenz bekommen! Verwunderlich wäre das allerdings nicht. Denn mit ihrem Outfit zog Herzogin Kate an dem Abend einmal mehr alle Blicke auf sich.

Wer passt besser zu Kate Middleton?

Das dreifache Mami strahlte in einem schwarz-weissen schulterfreien Kleid von Roland Mouret. Dazu kombinierte sie eine Clutch von Alexander McQueen, schwarze High Heels und Diamantohrringe von Robinson Pelham.

Prinz William kam in einem mitternachtsblauen Alexander-McQueen-Samt-Dinnerjacket und einer Smokinghose. Passend zur Premiere waren seine Samtschuhe in Anspielung auf den Film mit Miniatur-Kampfjets geschmückt.

Kate Middleton Hung Out With Tom Cruise at the Top Gun: Maverick Premiere

Somehow, Kate Middleton consistently makes being a royal look like one of the funnest jobs in the world. Whereas Queen Elizabeth II, for one, tends to look rather stoic while carrying out her duties, the Duchess can often be found grinning from ear to ear . (See: that time she gave her all at a game of rugby, or that time she went down a slide at the Lego Foundation in Denmark.) And while Middleton technically had to work late on Thursday night, she couldn’t have looked happier to do so. It just so happened that this year’s Royal Film Performance charity event took the form of the Top Gun: Maverick U.K. premiere, meaning that she got to reunite with a friend she only gets to see occasionally: none other than Tom Cruise. (They’ve met at least twice before, at the 2020 Euro Championship and 2021 Wimbledon women’s final.)

Middleton and William met a number of other cast members, most notably Cruise’s costars Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly. The British royalty and Hollywood royalty looked equally happy to mingle, laughing and chatting on the red carpet before heading into the screening at Leicester Square. For the most part, though, Middleton—who wore a black-and-white off-the-shoulder gown by Roland Mouret for her night out on the town—seems to have spent the bulk of her time with Cruise. Unlike William, he even held her hand when they headed up the stairs into the theater.

This isn’t the first time Middleton has hobnobbed with celebrities at a Hollywood premiere. She and William memorably made a fully surprise appearance at the London screening of No Time to Die last fall, and thankfully, the moment she met Billie Eilish was captured on film. The image is delightful; in an alternate universe, they could have been the prom queen and begrudgingly dressed-up alt girl. If she keeps it up, who knows who the Duchess will be photographed with next?

KATE MIDDLETON has stolen the show at another major film premiere. Much like her dazzling gold Jenny Packham cape dress she wore to the premiere of new James Bond film, No Time to Die in 2021, Middleton has proven her own movie star magic.

The Duchess of Cambridge made a rare red carpet appearance on May 19, as she attended the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick alongside husband Prince William. Middleton wore an elegant gown by French designer Roland Mouret, which sleekly sat off her shoulders.

The timeless style saw white straps sit comfortably under her shoulders over a black column silhouette. The royal appropriately accessorised with an Alexander McQueen black clutch, Robinson Pelham’s Tsar Star diamond drop earrings and black pumps. Where beauty was concerned, Middleton looked classic with her hair worn straight and pulled to the back — with natural and glossy makeup.

Prince William equally looked dapper, wearing a blue velvet blazer with a white dress shirt, black bowtie and black trousers. However, William did have a little fun with his shoes — donning Crockett & Jones loafers embroidered with F18 planes, a nod to the film in question.

As a fan of the original 1986 movie, it’s reported William and Kate were treated to a special screening courtesy of Top Gun star, Tom Cruise. Therefore, the premiere wasn’t the first time the royal pair had seen the new film, shot in the United Kingdom.

Throughout the event held at London’s Leicester Square, Kate and William mingled with other cast-members including Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller. At one point during the evening, Cruise was even spotted kindly offering his hand to Kate as she climbed a few stairs.

Whilst on the red carpet, Cruise praised the Cambridge’s — whom he’d previously become acquainted with. On May 15, the actor even co-hosted a star-studded event to mark the start of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

“We have a lot in common,” Cruise said of the William according to My London . “We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying.”

The Top Gun: Maverick premiere, hosted by Paramount Pictures and the Film and TV Charity, marks the 72nd Royal Film Performance delivered by the charity in its 100-year history. The charity works to support the hundreds of thousands who work behind the scenes in the United Kingdom’s film and television industry.

Tom Cruise Gazes at Kate During Wimbledon Match After Premiere Hand Holding

Tom Cruise was photographed apparently gazing at Kate Middleton during the women's singles finals match at Wimbledon on Saturday, with the photos coming just weeks after Cruise made headlines by holding the duchess' hand during the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in May.

Kate attended Saturday's match between Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina and Tunisia's Ons Jabeur in her capacity as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC). On entering the royal box on the famed center court, the royal found that she was just three rows in front of the Risky Business star.

A photograph taken during the match appears to show Cruise looking down at Kate, who stood out among the conservatively dressed crowd by wearing a sunshine yellow midi dress by the fashion brand, Roksanda.

Cruise appeared dressed for the occasion in accordance with the strict royal box dress code, wearing a navy blazer and contrasting tie as he watched Rybakina win the championship, with Kate doing the honors of presenting the trophy.

Cruise has taken part in a number of high-profile British events this year starting with a presenting role at the Royal Windsor Horse Show's Platinum Jubilee tribute to Queen Elizabeth II .

The star's presence at the tribute, which took the form of an equestrian salute to the 96-year-old monarch, caused confusion online with commenters questioning why the Hollywood he took part.

Speaking to British TV network ITV about the event, Cruise, an apparent Anglophile, said that the queen is "a woman who I greatly admire," continuing that, "I think she's someone who has tremendous dignity and I admire her devotion."

"What she's accomplished has been historic...I have great respect for her and when they asked [me to take part in this event] I said instantly, 'it would be my honor' to be here."

It was another royal occasion, just days after the jubilee tribute that made headlines though, at a charity premiere for his box office smash Top Gun: Maverick in London's Leicester Square.

The guests of honor at the event were Prince William and Kate with the duchess appearing in a dramatic off the shoulder evening dress by Roland Mouret.

On arriving at the premiere, the royals were greeted by Cruise, who then escorted them to meet the rest of the cast. At one point along the walk was a short flight of steps. Cruise was filmed offering his hand to Kate who took it.

Internet commenters picked the gesture apart considering that on reaching a second flight of steps, Kate swapped her handbag to the side closest to Cruise which some claimed was a deliberate move to prevent him from repeating the move.

On the hand holding saga, Sky News Australia contributor Dr Erin Watson posted to Twitter , saying: "Kate Middleton then immediately switched her clutch so he didn't touch her again as she went up the next set of stairs like a total #bossroyal who wasn't going to be touched by Tom Cruise."

"Kate Middleton is all of us strategically shifting our clutch because someone thinks they can touch you but #nope," Watson added.

Royal fashion expert and author Elizabeth Holmes discussed the incident in an Instagram story: "A moment of silence for the absolutely stealth clutch hand switch. McQueen makes shields! Who knew! Clutch, indeed."

Despite these sentiments, others interpreted the move as "gentlemanly" saying Kate's initial acceptance of the gesture was evidence that she received it as it was intended.

Though the duchess and the Hollywood star were seated within close proximity at Wimbledon, there were no reports that they interacted during or after the match.

Kate attended three days of the 2022 Wimbledon championships including the men's singles final between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios. At this match, she was joined by her husband Prince William and eldest son, Prince George , 8.

The match was the young prince's first public appearance at Wimbledon's Centre Court and at a post-match meeting with champion Djokovic, the tennis star gave him the trophy to hold . To this, William was recorded by cameras jokingly telling his son: "don't drop it!"

Kate Middleton was a ray of sunshine Saturday at Wimbledon, dressed in a yellow frock that garnered plenty of attention from her fellow attendees — including actor Tom Cruise.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 40, stunned in a canary yellow Roksanda midi dress at the tournament, complimenting the look with Kiki McDonough Eden citrine and flower drop earrings and Gianvito Rossi white leather pumps at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

This is the third time the royal chose to wear a yellow dress to the tournament, as she also donned the bright color in 2016 and 2018.

She also previously wore the the Roksanda dress in Jamaica during the Cambridges’ royal tour of the Caribbean earlier this year. 

The number grabbed the attention of several onlookers, including Cruise, 59, who was snapped leaning forward from his seat behind Middleton to get a good look at her impossible-to-miss ensemble.

Eventually, all eyes were on the court as Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan played against Ons Jabeur of Tunisia during the Ladies’ Singles Final match.

Cruise received praise from fans back in May for helping Middleton up a set of stairs at the London premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick” as her husband, Prince William, walked alongside, seemingly adjusting his jacket and tie.

“Tom is so lovely. Always the gentleman,” wrote one fan, with another posting, “I Dont care for, or about Tom Cruise’s religious beliefs, but i will say this, he is always a Gentleman and never forgets for a second how to behave in public.”

A third fan added, “Bless Tom Cruise. He looks like he takes everything he does so seriously, including escorting the Duchess up the stairs. I think William is struggling to hold it together 😅.”

The royals have all sorts of protocols governing them when they're out on official business, but at the 2022  Top Gun: Maverick  premiere, Tom Cruise ended up breaking one.

In an act of generosity, the Hollywood superstar - who is an unexpected guest during the Coronation Concert - took the Princess Kate by hand as she ascended some stairs, however it has long been rumoured that you aren't supposed to touch a royal.

In fact, it's well known that you were only allowed to take Queen Elizabeth 's hand if she offered it first.

The moment during the movie premiere was very sweet, but it appears that Kate was aware of the protocol, as after Tom released her, she moved her bag into the hand that he had been holding, so he couldn't take it again as they ascended some more stairs.

There are plenty of rules that members of the royal family must follow when they are out and about, including the need to keep PDAs to a minimum, which is likely why William didn't take his wife by the hand as they went up the stairs.

HELLO! magazine's royal editor Emily Nash previously said: "The Duke and Duchess are almost always seen in photographs taken during official engagements so they are at 'work' and it would be unprofessional to hold hands.

"They also need to shake hands with a huge number of people as they meet then, so aside from being on duty, it wouldn't be very practical!"

"We know they are very affectionate and that sometimes comes across during more light-hearted moments, at sporting events or similar, but you wouldn't expect them to put that on show while in more formal situations."

Royal rules also prohibit members of the royal family from taking selfies or signing autographs, and so while we're sure the cast of Top Gun  wouldn't have minded a quick photo, the only photos taken were by professional photographers at the premiere.

While the coronation of King Charles III wasn't rife with celebrities, a few notable stars did make an appearance. Some of them left many viewers perplexed about how they secured a spot on the guest list — one of them being Tom Cruise. Cruise's attendance at the May 7 coronation concert celebration for "pre-recorded sketches and segments revealing little-known facts about the king," according to the BBC , wasn't his first interaction with the British royals, however.

The "Top Gun" star actually has a storied past with the royal family, though it seems many Americans have forgotten about it. Cruise, a self-confessed lover of England, has interacted with many members of the royal family throughout the years. He even had quite a friendly relationship with Queen Elizabeth II, who had big plans for him before her death. Despite this, Cruise's relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales garners the most media attention. Here's the backstory on how Tom Cruise became part of the coronation lineup after making headlines with the princess.

Mission possible?

Tom Cruise's connection with the royals began when he had a somewhat chance encounter with the late Princess Diana. In the early 1990s, the first "Mission: Impossible" was filmed in the U.K., and Princess Di took her two young sons to the set. Allegedly, while the boys were impressed, Princess Diana told her chef, Darren McGrady, not long after the meeting, "That's another one off the list Darren. He's too short!" (via Express ). Nevertheless, the pair would meet again on the red carpet at Cruise's "Far And Away" movie premiere, which he attended with his then-wife Nicole Kidman. Sadly, five years later, Cruise was also present at Princess Diana's funeral.

Princess Diana certainly isn't the only royal lady in his life. Cruise has made public his admiration for the late queen, Elizabeth II, attending her Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and sharing tea with her not long before her death. And, of course, the actor is a known friend of Princess Kate Middleton, securing his infiltration into the ranks of friends of the British royal family with The Sun even reporting that Cruise, Kate, and Prince William can be considered "close." 

In July 2021, Princess Kate and her husband, Prince William, attended the 2020 Euro football match played by Italy and England. Cruise was also a spectator at the match and was photographed kindly letting the royal couple exit their seats before he made his way to the aisle. Almost one year later, Cruise made contact with Kate and William once more.

In 2022, Tom Cruise invited Prince William and Princess Kate to a charity screening of his latest movie, "Top Gun: Maverick." The pair had previously viewed the film when the actor hosted a private screening for the couple on one of the biggest screens in the U.K., an IMAX near London's Leicester Square. He didn't cozy up with them in the theater, but graciously greeted his guests before leaving them to enjoy the film.

Soon after, Cruise and the couple would meet up again at the "Top Gun: Maverick" premiere.  Prince William and Kate Middleton had many swooning at the event , including the man with the starring role. The May 2022 event generated a lot of talk on social media when Cruise courteously lent his hand to Princess Kate as she was attending the stairs. While it may have been chivalrous, it caused many Americans and Brits alike to cringe, as getting handsy with the royal family can always be a thorny issue. One viewer event pointed out, "Her face is mortified" (via Twitter ). Furthermore, sharp-eyed royal watchers quickly pointed out that Kate hurriedly switched her handbag to the hand Cruise had been grasping arguing she may have been trying to ensure the situation wouldn't happen again. 

But all seemed smoothed over when Cruise and Kate met again at the 2022 Wimbledon tennis tournament where they were seated just a few rows apart. Reportedly, the Prince and Princess have since made Tom's Cruise's exclusive Christmas gift list, an honor that is bestowed on invitees for life (via Yahoo! ). Doch nicht nur Carole und Michael Middleton, auch Pippa Matthews, die jüngere Schwester von Prinzessin Kate, könnte eine Position innerhalb des britischen Königshauses abstauben. Bereits Königin Camilla hat ihre Schwester Annabel Elliot zu einer ihrer sechs "Queen's Companions" (royale Wegbegleiterinnen und Assistentinnen) ernannt. "Das muss jemand sein, dem die Königin vertrauen und auf den sie sich verlassen kann, und wer könnte besser sein als ihre Schwester?", sagt Phil Dampier dazu. "Es handelt sich nicht unbedingt um einen Vollzeitjob, daher wäre sie verfügbar."

So reisserische, abfällige Artikel haben diese beiden Menschen nicht verdient. Sie ist 69 und er bald 75. Ich denke, sie haben genügend Privatvermögen, das sie sich erarbeitet haben und auf das Sie zugreifen können..

Unglaublich wichtig…

Kate Middleton: William sagt zwei Worte – und jeder weiß Bescheid

Sie war nicht anwesend, aber doch irgendwie immer da. Am Donnerstag (18. April 2024) war es endlich mal wieder so weit. Nach langer Pause nahm Prinz William wieder einen Termin wahr. Der Mann von Kate Middleton besuchte unter anderem die Wohltätigkeitsorganisation „Surplus to Supper“, die rund 25.000 Mahlzeiten pro Jahr in Surrey und West London an bedürftige Menschen verteilt. Ein Termin, den unter normalen Umständen wohl auch die Princess of Wales gemeinsam mit ihrem Mann wahrgenommen hätte.

Doch wegen Kate Middletons Krebs-Erkrankung sind derlei Termine für die dreifache Mutter noch nicht wieder möglich. In den Gedanken der Menschen jedoch war Kate immer dabei.

Prinz William kümmert sich um Kate Middleton

So wurde William gleich mehrfach auf seine Frau angesprochen. Verständlich, ist die Sorge um die Prinzessin in der Bevölkerung noch immer riesig. Und so gab der künftige König von England ein Versprechen ab, dass die Herzen der Umstehenden mit Freude füllen und die großen Ängste vieler ein wenig lindern könnte.

Zum Beispiel bat ihn eine Mitarbeiterin, dass er sich gut um seine Frau kümmern möge. Williams unmissverständliche Antwort: „I will“ – „das werde ich“. Es sind nur zwei kleine Worte, doch sofort weiß jeder Bescheid, wie groß die Verbundenheit zwischen den beiden Eheleuten ist, wie groß die Eintracht in dieser schweren Zeit.

Und so wurde es ein Termin voller Freude. William schleppte Kisten, ließ sich von den Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern die Arbeit erklären und nahm sogar Genesungskarten für seine Frau entgegen.

Und so jubelten auch die Anhänger auf Instagram ob des Besuches des Prinzen. „Erstaunlich, Sie wieder bei der Arbeit zu sehen, Prinz William. Ich hoffe, der Prinzessin von Wales geht es gut und den Kindern geht es gut?! Ich sende viel Liebe und Gebete an Ihre wunderbare Familie“, heißt es da beispielsweise. Oder: „William hat das Charisma seiner Mutter mit dem Einsatz seiner Oma für die Pflicht. Deshalb wird er eines Tages ein großer König sein.“

Prinzessin Kates Familie soll William von Anfang an mit offenen Armen empfangen haben. Nachdem bei Kate Anfang des Jahres Krebs diagnostiziert wurde, zählt ihre Mutter Carole Middleton (69) nun zu den wichtigsten Stützen des Thronfolgerpaares.

Neben Prinz William und Königin Camilla erhält auch Charles‘ Schwiegertochter eine neue Auszeichnung. Dabei wird der an Krebs erkrankten Kate Middleton eine ganz besondere Ehre zuteil.

London – Ein Lichtblick in schweren Zeiten. Am 23. April hatten Prinzessin Kate (42) und Prinz William (41) gleich doppelt Grund zu feiern. Zum einen wurde ihr jüngster Sohn Prinz Louis sechs Jahre alt, zum anderen erhielten William und Kate neue Titel von König Charles III. (75). Kate Middletons Berufung in den „Order of the Companions of Honour“ ist dabei ein echtes Novum in der Geschichte der Royal Family.

„Große Wertschätzung“: Für Prinzessin Kate macht König Charles eine Ausnahme

Der Orden wurde bereits 1917 von König Georg V. (70, † 1936) als Auszeichnung für besondere Leistungen in Bereichen wie Kunst, Musik, Literatur oder Naturwissenschaften gegründet. Doch in der mehr als hundertjährigen Geschichte wurde laut Daily Mail noch nie ein Mitglied der königlichen Familie in den Orden berufen. Für Prinzessin Kate macht König Charles nun eine Ausnahme, um seine „große Wertschätzung“ für seine Schwiegertochter zu zeigen, wie ein Insider betont.

Ein erneutes Zeichen, wie nah sich Prinzessin Kate und König Charles stehen , die durch ihre Krebserkrankung noch enger zusammengeschweißt wurden. Kate befindet sich nun in illustrer Gesellschaft, unter anderem zählen auch Tierfilmer David Attenborough (97), Schauspielerin Judi Dench (89), Sänger Elton John (77) und Vogue -Chefredakteurin Anna Wintour (74) zu den Mitgliedern des „Order of the Companions of Honour“.

Neue Orden am Saint George‘s Day

Am 23. April, dem Saint George‘s Day (Georgstag), werden traditionell vier neue Mitglieder des Hosenbandordens (Order of the Garter) ernannt. In diesem Jahr erhielten diese Auszeichnung Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester (77), der ehemalige Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach (68), der Mediziner Ajay Kakkar (59) und Musical-Komponist Andrew Lloyd Webber (76).

Aber nicht nur Prinzessin Kate wurde eine besondere Ehre zuteil, sondern auch ihr Ehemann Prinz William kann einen neuen Titel verbuchen. König Charles ernannte ihn zum Großmeister des Ritterordens „Most Honourable Order of the Bath“, eine Position, die Charles selbst als Thronfolger bis 2022 innehatte. Königin Camilla (76) erhielt die Auszeichnung „Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire“. Der Ritterorden „Order of the British Empire“ wurde zeitgleich zum „Order of the Companions of Honour“ von König Georg V. ins Leben gerufen.

Der neue Titel, den Prinzessin Kate von König Charles erhalten hat, soll aber nicht nur dessen Dankbarkeit ausdrücken, sondern auch Kates Beitrag zur Kunst anerkennen. Und so wurde es ein Termin voller Freude. William schleppte Kisten, ließ sich von den Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern die Arbeit erklären und nahm sogar Genesungskarten für seine Frau entgegen.

Und so jubelten auch die Anhänger auf Instagram ob des Besuches des Prinzen. „Erstaunlich, Sie wieder bei der Arbeit zu sehen, Prinz William. Ich hoffe, der Prinzessin von Wales geht es gut und den Kindern geht es gut?! Ich sende viel Liebe und Gebete an Ihre wunderbare Familie“, heißt es da beispielsweise. Oder: „William hat das Charisma seiner Mutter mit dem Einsatz seiner Oma für die Pflicht. Deshalb wird er eines Tages ein großer König sein.“
