This Barbie Is Now on Strike
The actors’ strike effectively ended the “Barbie” film’s press tour. But Margot Robbie’s pink-carpet outfits are worth remembering.
By The Styles Desk
The actors’ strike has hit the brakes on the hot pink convertible that is the “Barbie” film’s press tour.
Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and other stars of Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming movie inspired by the doll are unlikely to appear on pink carpets until further notice in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union . That means the parade of neon fashion led by Ms. Robbie has probably come to an end.
Ms. Robbie, who was styled by Andrew Mukamal, had her pick of designers throughout the press tour, from vintage Versace to Vivienne Westwood . But several of the actress’s best looks took inspiration from Barbie’s clothing archive, including a black-and-white-striped swimsuit the doll wore when it was introduced in 1959, a prim skirt suit from the ’80s and a swirly minidress Barbie wore in the ’90s.
Those outfits, seen here alongside the Barbie clothes that inspired them, struck the exact right balance between kitschy and chic. “It’s not subtle,” Ms. Robbie said in an interview with People, “but it’s very fun!”
Enchanted Evening
At the “Barbie” premiere in London, Ms. Robbie wore a Vivienne Westwood gown accented by a white tulle stole and a three-strand pearl necklace. The look recreated the glamorous get-up of the “Enchanted Evening” Barbie introduced in 1960.
Day to Night
The “Day to Night” Barbie doll, released in 1985, was ready for work and play. Its transitional wardrobe inspired what Ms. Robbie wore at the Seoul premiere: a Versace pencil skirt and blazer, which morphed into a sequined pink bodice and tulle skirt.
Original Barbie
In Sydney, Ms. Robbie wore a Hervé Léger bandage dress that paid tribute to the black-and-white one-piece swimsuit worn by the original Barbie. The actress, like the doll, completed her look with white sunglasses and black open-toe shoes.
Solo in the Spotlight
The strapless, sequined mermaid gown Ms. Robbie wore to the film’s Los Angeles premiere was a custom Schiaparelli recreation of the dress for the “Solo in the Spotlight” Barbie, a doll released in 1960.
Totally Hair
In an abstract Pucci minidress, hot pink Manolo Blahnik heels and long, crimped blond locks, Ms. Robbie channeled the style of “Totally Hair” Barbie, introduced in 1992, at a photo call in Mexico City.
Earring Magic
Balmain made the pink leather minidress Ms. Robbie wore to the film’s Mexico City premiere. The look took inspiration from “Earring Magic” Barbie, released in 1992, down to its low-slung belt and chunky earrings.
Pink & Fabulous
At a press appearance in Los Angeles, Ms. Robbie wore a custom Valentino halter dress that referenced the “Pink & Fabulous” Barbie, a doll introduced in 2015.
Sparkling Pink
The bedazzled three-piece Moschino set that Ms. Robbie wore in Seoul was an updated version of the skirt suit worn by the “Sparkling Pink” Barbie, released in 1964.
‘Barbie’: The Movie
Of all Ms. Robbie’s Barbie-inspired outfits, the most meta might have been the pink-and-white gingham set she wore at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The look referenced a dress Ms. Robbie wears in the “Barbie” trailer and the frock made for a new Barbie doll based on Ms. Robbie’s likeness.
Elizabeth Paton , Emmett Lindner and Callie Holtermann contributed research.

Grab your rollerblades, Barbie and Ken are coming to a city near you.
What's Barbie About?
While the iconic doll has had her fair share of animated films for at-home viewing, this will be the first time a live-action adaptation will make its way into theaters. Starring Robbie and Gosling as the film’s main Barbie and Ken, respectively, the storyline follows Barbie after she’s been booted from Barbieland, given no choice but to make it in the real world. Boasting a star-studded cast, the film will also feature performances by Simu Liu , Kate McKinnon , John Cena , Dua Lipa , Issa Rae , Rhea Perlman , Will Ferrell , Kingsley Ben-Adir , Michael Cera , and so many more. The third feature from Gerwig, Barbie follows the director’s successful and Academy Award-nominated films, Lady Bird and Little Women .

So many nostalgic easter eggs!
Don’t be shocked when you see tons of people rocking pink at movie theaters on July 21. The Barbiecore aesthetic has taken over to celebrate the upcoming release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie . The highly anticipated production — with a star-studded cast featuring faves like Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, and Issa Rae — has sparked a lot of excitement ever since filming was announced due to the iconic and long-lasting impact of the beloved doll. The only thing more heavily discussed than the mystery of the plot: the many pinkalicious outfits worn on and off the screen — in particular, Margot Robbie's Barbie press tour looks.
If you’re stumped on what to wear to see the film in theaters, you should think pink and take inspo from Robbie’s Barbie premiere fashion and glam to embody the character and fit the Barbie aesthetic. Not only has she stayed true to the Barbie pink that’s known and beloved, but she has even worn looks inspired by Barbie dolls of previous decades working with brands like Versace and Moschino. The ultimate slay.
Below, Elite Daily gathered some of the Oscar nominee’s best Barbie red carpet looks, many of which contain easter eggs that’ll bring on all the ‘90s nostalgia. Come on, Robbie, let’s go party.
This Barbie Rocked Pink Gingham
In true Barbie fashion, Margot Robbie rocked a pink gingham Prada ensemble — reminiscent of the dress she wore in the trailer — featuring a three-piece set with a matching bra top, mini skirt, and long coat at CinemaCon in April. Accessories included a pink Prada shoulder bag and mule-style heels.
This Barbie Soaked Up The Sun
Attending a press event for Barbie at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, Robbie mirrored the sunny LA weather in this pink and white polka dot Valentino cross-neck mini dress. She added a pop of color with a yellow cross-body and a classic pair of white pumps. The look was inspired by the “Pink & Fabulous” Barbie from 2015.
This Barbie Mixed Textures
Going for more of a cozy look, Robbie played with texture by pairing a light pink cozy turtleneck knit sweater with a metallic pink leather skirt while speaking at a Barbie fan event in Australia.
This Barbie Was So Ready For A Night Out
If you’re looking for what to wear for a night out on the town, Margot Robbie has given you the cutest Barbie-inspired ‘fit inspo. At the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Barbie Celebration Party in Sydney, Australia, she wore a Versace pink metallic mini dress.
This Barbie Slayed The Day
Serving ‘80s realness, Robbie wowed yet again in a Versace look inspired by the day look from the 1985 “Day to Night” Barbie . The ensemble, worn at the Seoul premiere of Barbie , featured a matching pink skirt suit, pink and white heels, a bright pink tulle neck scarf, a white wide-brim hat, Judith Leiber bedazzled phone clutch, and pink mini bag.
This Barbie Served All The Princess Vibes
Recreating the night look from the 1985 “Day to Night Barbie,” Robbie wore this Versace dress featuring a sparkly bodice with hot pink tulle skirt and matching mule heels at the Seoul, South Korea Barbie premiere.
This Barbie Screamed ‘60s Style
This hot pink Moschino matching three-piece set paired with a bow embellished hat and heart-shaped bag is giving ‘60s Jackie Kennedy vibes. The look Robbie wore at a Seoul Barbie press event took inspo from the 1964 “Sparkling Pink Barbie.”
This Barbie Was So Totally ‘90s
At the Mexico City Barbie premiere, Robbie looked 100% pre-Y2K in this hot pink leather Balmain mini dress and Manolo Blahnik heels. This look was inspired by the 1992 “Earring Magic Barbie.”
This Barbie Was The Ultimate Hollywood Starlet
For the big LA Barbie premiere, Robbie showed up and showed out. Dressed in Schiaparelli, the star wore an exact copy of the outfit worn by the “Solo in the Spotlight” Barbie doll from the 1960s. The outfit choice hinted at the fact that Robbie has stolen the spotlight as the titular role and everyone is obsessed.
This Barbie Was Royalty
Wearing an exact copy of the 1960s “Enchanted Evening” Barbie look in a dress by Vivienne Westwood, Robbie stunned at the European Barbie premiere. The gown was paired with Assael pearls and Christian Louboutin heels. Everyone, take notes.

At a Barbie photocall in London (aka the last Barbie press event featuring the cast), Robbie wore this pink Vivienne Westwood look featuring a matching long sleeve blazer-style top and mini skirt paired with furry platform heels and a matching structured bag.
This Barbie Brought Pink Into 2024
At the 81st Golden Globes, the best actress nominee wowed in a custom Armani Privé stunner. The inspo behind the hot pink gown and matching boa (which would totally give Harry Styles a run for his money )? Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, and Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ have generated immense interest and both movies are set to grace the big screen within a mere day of each other. Greta Gerwig earned Academy Award nominations in 2018 for Best Directing and Best Original Screenplay for her film ‘Lady Bird’. She also directed the captivating adaptation of ‘Little Women’, featuring the talents of Florence Pugh and Saoirse Ronan.

As well as A-listers Robbie and Gosling, there are also roles for Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Helen Mirren, Dua Lipa, Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon and Nicola Coughlan, adding to the film’s allure even for those of more advanced years.
Why has Barbie been banned in Vietnam?
You may have heard that the new movie has been banned in Vietnam, and wondering why a kids-focused adventure could have caused this reaction. Well, the answer lies in the detail of a map.
In one of the scenes a very child-like map is shown which includes the South China Sea and what is known as the “nine dash line” which is disputed in Vietnam. The following news clip explains more.

And as if the cast and direction weren’t enticing enough, the film’s soundtrack is set to be a standout feature in its own right. All the best pictures from Barbie: The World Tour
A new book charts all the colourful looks worn by Margot Robbie on the Barbie press tour
In one of the most literal and dedicated forms of ' Method Dressing ' we've ever seen, Robbie's red-carpet looks throughout Barbie 's promotion – from pink Valentino polka-dots to playful gingham Prada ensembles – were inspired by outfits worn by the doll herself, expertly re-created by top designers with the help of Robbie's stylist, Andrew Mukamal. Now, a new book, Barbie: The World Tour , pays homage to this epic feat of life imitating art, with photographs by Craig McDean charting all of Robbie's Barbie-coded outfits.
Accompanying McDean's sumptuous photography are images of original Barbie dolls from the period, a treasure trove of rare materials from Mattel's Barbie fashion archives, and the designers' sketches and Polaroids from fittings. With text by Margot Robbie and Andrew Mukamal, as well as handwritten contributions from the designers behind the looks, the book is a unique look behind the curtain at one of the most iconic tourdrobes in recent memory.
"The work that Andrew did in bringing all these elements together – the history of Barbie, the research he did through the Mattel archives, bringing in designers who had a childhood connection with Barbie or found inspiration in her for their later careers, or even just sensing what the world in general was getting excited about and trying to create moments for them – it was amazing, and it felt like that should all be celebrated," writes Robbie.
Here, we delve into our favourite photographs from the book. 'Barbie: The World Tour' by Margot Robbie and Andrew Mukamal (Rizzoli New York, 2024) is out now.
Margot Robbie and Andrew Mukamal during a fitting
"It wasn’t just looking into the history of Barbie and the history of Mattel but also going into the knowledge that I had already accumulated just through work and interest in these different fashion houses and understanding their signatures, their codes, the things they’re most famous for," writes Mukamal in the book, of finding the designers – and the outfits – for Robbie.
Margot Robbie as 'Day to Night' Barbie in Versace
Robbie wore this look, designed by Donatella Versace, to the Barbie premiere in Seoul. Featuring a pink and white skirt suit with a matching boater hat, pointed pumps, a mini bag and a glittery pink phone, it's one of the most famous from the whole tour.
Sketches by Donatella Versace
"My first memory of Barbie was seeing her iconic blonde hair and understanding she was a powerful woman who could be anything. A total inspiration!" wrote Donatella Versace on one of her inspiration sketches for Robbie's 'Day to Night' Barbie outfit. Also pictured is a sketch of the second look Robbie wore to the Seoul premiere, which featured a shimmering bodice and tulle skirt – also based on one of the doll's original designs.
A sketch by Andreas Kronthaler
"Without Barbie, I would not be a fashion designer," reads a note by designer Andreas Kronthaler, affixed to a sketch for the Vivienne Westwood dress Robbie wore to the European Barbie premiere, held in London. On the night, Robbie wore a couture gown modelled on the 'Enchanted Evening' doll from 1990, which was made from blush satin and embroidered white tulle, which she accessorised with ivory opera gloves, a pearl choker and a rose brooch.
Margot Robbie in Chanel
The Barbie tour was actually cut short due to the SAG-AFTRA strike , meaning not every look made it onto the red carpet. All were photographed, however – meaning this is one of the first looks at Robbie in a Barbie-inspired Chanel jacket and skirt.
Margot Robbie as 'Cherry Pie Picnic' Barbie in Bottega Veneta
Mukamal's inspiration for this look was the 'Cherry Pie Picnic' Barbie from 2015, and featured turn-up jeans by Bottega Veneta, a red belt and a tie-up floral shirt, along with Manolo Blahnik mules. "For an early morning talk show, we loved the idea of wearing Matthieu Blazy’s version of 'Cherry Pie Picnic' for Bottega Veneta: something surprising, our only denim look of the tour and a step away from pink," writes Mukamal in the book.

The Barbie and Ken duo announced the news via Instagram. By Dani Maher
THIS BARBIE is heading worldwide. Well, the much-anticipated film helmed by Greta Gerwig and fronted by Margot Robbie , at least.
They say that the devil works hard, but it’s clear that Barbie ‘s publicity team works harder — because it’s now been announced that the film will be embarking on a global tour to premiere in eight cities across seven countries. And before you ask — yes, Robbie’s homeland, our very own Australia , will play host to one of those premieres.
“You don’t have to go all the way to Barbieland to hang with Barbie and Ken,” Robbie announced in a video posted to the film’s official Instagram page .
“Because Margot and I are taking this show on the road,” Robbie’s co-star, Ryan Gosling quips.
The global Barbie tour will hit up its two leads’ homelands, stopping at Toronto in Gosling’s own Canada, and Sydney in Robbie’s Australia — where Gosling also resided for a few months last year with his wife Eva Mendes and their children, during the filming of The Fall Guy . They’ll then head to Seoul in South Korea , Mexico City in Mexico, London in England, Berlin in Germany, and Los Angeles and New York in the United States.

It’ll be the second time Robbie has brought a taste of Hollywood down under this year, after she accompanied co-stars Diego Calva, Phoebe Tonkin and Samara Weaving for the local premiere of Damien Chazelle’s Babylon in January . Dressed in baby blue Versace, Robbie was clearly awed by the reception to her visit as hundreds of fans amassed to watch her walk the red carpet and welcome her home.
No word yet on exactly when the Barbie crew will touch down to follow in Babylon ‘s footsteps, but if that welcome was anything to go by, we can only expect fans to be even more excited as she brings Barbie home — given that it’s one of this year’s most eagerly awaited films. And we’ll expect a touch more Barbiecore style on the red carpet, too.

The Best-Dressed Celebs at the Barbie World Premiere in L.A.
The stars painted the town pink.
Getty Images
Red carpet fashion is always a spectacle, but the Barbie premiere red carpet fashion was so good that we almost took a personal day just to bask in the Barbiecore of it all . Not only did the cast show up and show out, but every A-lister who attended clearly knew the stakes were high. While the Barbie movie , which currently has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, is about more than playing dress-up, every premiere attendee knew that bringing their fashion A-game was mandatory. Read on to see the top 10 red carpet looks from the Barbie movie premiere — because it's a Barbie world and we're all just living in it.
Margot Robbie in Schiaparelli Haute Couture
Having drooled over Robbie's Barbie press tour looks , we knew the star and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, would deliver something for the L.A. premiere, and they did not disappoint. While many of Robbie's recent 'fits have paid homage to Barbie dolls , Mukamal outdid himself with this one. Robbie's custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown and opera gloves, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Manolo Blahnik peep-toe heels are an extravagant high-fashion replication of Mattell's 1960 "Solo in the Spotlight" Barbie. We're literally speechless.
Issa Rae in Marc Bouwer
Issa Rae understood the assignment . We're especially enamored with the larger-than-life bow on her velvet Marc Bouwer gown. That said, her accessories, from her dangling earrings and diamond tennis bracelet to her glittering rings and hot pink clutch, were nothing to scoff at.
Ava Max in Mônot
Ava Max's powder blue ensemble definitely delivered Barbie in spirit, even though it lacked the doll's signature shade. Styled by Molly Dickson, Max's look was both modern and retro all at once in her beaded custom Mônot maxi skirt and bra set, crystal sunnies, and opera gloves.
Shay Mitchell in Shushutong
Perhaps taking a page from Robbie's vintage Barbie homage styling, Shay Mitchell wore a darling Shushutong mini dress with strappy sandals and a shiny black micro bag. Her styling, from her sleek headband to her delicate stud earrings and tennis bracelet, was absolutely doll-like without veering too twee.
Dua Lipa in Bottega Veneta
Dua Lipa loves a little sparkle as evidenced by her Tiffany & Co. jewelry and custom Bottega Veneta gown that was, more or less, hundreds of rhinestones knit together. Yes, it was see-through, no she was not fazed by being nearly naked on the red carpet , and yes, we're living for it.
Ryan Gosling in Gucci
Gosling's pink Gucci suit is impeccable, but TBH he's on our list because of the Barbie font "E" necklace he wore in honor of his wife, Eva Mendes. Ken really is a devoted partner. You love to see it.
America Ferrera in St. John
We loved all the vintage silhouettes on the Barbie premiere red carpet, but America Ferrera was serving old Hollywood with a modern twist. Her custom St. John look had the formal elegance of a gown with the freshness of a two-piece matching set, and her pale pink Irene Neuwirth jewelry was playful, but effortlessly elevated.
Ariana Greenblatt in Yogie Pratama
The peplum made entirely of larger-than-life rosettes on Ariana Greenblatt's Yogie Pratama gown were enough to land her a spot on our list of best-dressed celebs. But, as the kids say, "Wait! There's more!" There was also the soft pink of the gown's satin bodice, the subtle sheerness of its skirt, and that train. From top to bottom, it's 10 out of 10. No notes.
Dove Cameron in Ellie Misner
In her strapless soft pink and black Ellie Misner gown, Cameron could have easily passed for Goth Princess Barbie, if such a doll existed. (It doesn't. We checked.) Not only does the gown fit like a glove, but it's refreshing to see a celeb stick to their own aesthetic while still wearing a 'fit that's theme-adjacent.
Any Gabrielly in Priscavera
We found ourselves smitten with Gabrielly's Priscavera hot pink lace-up skirt and matching button-down. The vibe was fresh, the styling — from her heart earrings to her rhinestone-studded ankle strap stacked heels — was fun, and, best of all, it's a Barbicore look that could be worn off the red carpet as well.

Margot Robbie Dressed Like Barbie Twice in Australia Ahead of Barbie Movie Release
Her latest press tour looks pay homage to the original doll from 1959.
She switched into a second retro-inspired look for more press, wearing a white strawberry print belted Moschino minidress with the same hairstyle and different white-rimmed sunglasses. Robbie appeared enthusiastic while posing:
The throwback fashion looks mark a fun pivot for a press tour that has been full of unexpected but creative homages so far. There’s a lot more to come, too: Robbie and Ryan Gosling announced earlier that the Barbie press tour will happen in eight cities: Sydney (where Robbie is now), Toronto (where Gosling is now), Seoul, Mexico City, Los Angeles (where they did their initial photo call ), London, Berlin, and New York.
Robbie recently spoke to Fandango about how the film crew managed to get the now-viral trailer shot of her arched Barbie feet.
“It was probably about eight takes. Wasn’t that many,” she said. “I walked up, we had little sticky bits on the floor, double-sided tape for the shoes, so they wouldn’t come off, so I could get my feet out of them. And I was holding onto a bar. But that’s it. I wasn’t in a harness or anything like that. I just walked up, kind of held onto the bar above [the] camera.” She stressed that using her own body for shots like that is important to her: “I always try to do my own inserts.”

Margot Robbie Embodies 'Enchanted Evening' Barbie in Vivienne Westwood for London Premiere
The actress channeled the 1960s doll in a vintage draped corset gown at the 'Barbie' premiere in London on Wednesday
Margot Robbie looked simply enchanting in her latest Barbie ensemble.
The actress, 33, channeled the iconic Mattel doll once again at the London premiere of the Greta Gerwig -directed Barbie film on Wednesday.
This time, she embodied the 1960s Enchanted Evening Barbie in a custom Vivienne Westwood couture Moonlight gown, her stylist Andrew Mukamal confirmed on Instagram.
Like her doll counterpart, Robbie donned a blush pink satin draped corset dress with a matching side train, accented by a rose motif brooch inside the flower-shaped orb. The ensemble also featured a white tulle stole and matte ivory opera gloves.
Wearing a chic updo with face-framing bangs, the Oscar-nominated star styled the vintage look with a pair of silver peep-toe jeweled Christian Louboutin heels and a multilayered Assael pearl necklace and earrings.

Robbie’s enchanted ensemble comes after she sparkled in a black sequin dress that was an exact replica of the 1960s Barbie’s Solo in the Spotlight outfit while on the pink carpet of the Barbie world premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The actress, who stars as the titular character in the upcoming film, wore a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture bustier dress with sequin embroidery, designed by creative director Daniel Roseberry. The multi-layered tulle hem was decorated by a red hand-painted embroidered rose that matched Robbie’s red lipstick and toenails.
She accessorized her look with black opera gloves as she held onto a light pink silk mousseline scarf. She added a pair of black Manolo Blahnik peep-toe mules and Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklaces, earrings and ring to finish the look.

Robbie also sported a retro high ponytail with a swooping side fringe in an identical match to the Spotlight Barbie also, which Mukamal confirmed was the inspiration for her head-to-toe look on Instagram.
Robbie’s hairstylist Bryce Scarlett strived for a “high-glamour doll-like” updo, as the pro began coming up with the look two months ago, when he first saw the Schiaparelli design.
“We’ve worked really hard to recreate these iconic looks while still making sure Margot’s modern glamour shines through,” Scarlett told PEOPLE of working alongside Robbie and Mukamal. “This press tour has been more creative and inspired than anything we’ve done before. Having such a clear and iconic template to build off of has been a dream.”

The actress has gone above and beyond delivering her own simple take on the doll’s over-the-top glamour on the press tour for the movie, telling PEOPLE, “Well, it's not subtle, but it's very fun!”
In Sydney, Australia, Robbie donned a black-and-white-stripped Hervé Léger bandage dress . Topping it all off with the classic cat-eye sunglasses, Robbie paid homage to the original 1959 Barbie .
She then used a South Korea stop on the press tour to debut a double look . First, she conquered Barbie’s day attire, taking on a hot pink Versace skirt suit to emanate business mogul chic. Later, for Barbie’s night look, Robbie switched to a Versace tulle skirt and bodice.
“We're finding Barbie references from decades past and just doing it really for the big Barbie fans out there, people who are actually collecting those Barbies. We're hoping to get them excited,” she said at the Barbie world premiere in Los Angeles. “We're pairing Barbie references with great designers.”

10 Billie Eilish Red Carpet Looks That Challenged Norms For Women’s Fashion
The Barbie Oscar winner is a fashion innovator!
When it comes to celebrities stepping out for glitzy events on the red carpet, for those who are interested in fashion, there’s always some intrigue about what our favorite stars are going to turn up wearing. But, let’s be honest, there’s a certain fantastical, unattainable feeling that comes with glancing upon the red carpets of Hollywood’s resident hot people, such as Florence Pugh turning up for another fashion moment . Oftentimes, it’s ballgowns for days under those flashing lights.
But, I need to talk about how Billie Eilish is challenging what we’ve come to expect from what we might see from the red carpet with female looks, thanks to her innovative fashion moments over the years. Along with going for unconventional styles, she often speaks out about the trolling she receives, whether its for her baggy looks or for when she chooses to dress more feminine . Either way, it's clear she won't be boxed in! Here’s some of Eilish’s best ensembles from over the years that cemented her as a revolutionary in women’s red carpet fashion:
Billie Eilish Rocks A Prada Menswear Set For Billboard Awards Event
Back in 2019, when Billie Eilish had those neon green roots, the singer turned up to Billboard’s Women Of The Year event in an ensemble from Prada’s Spring 2020 Menswear Collection. She wore an oversized beige jacket with matching shorts, socks, shoes and shades. At the time, Eilish would regularly wear oversized clothing because the 19-year-old didn’t want to be sexualized by the public. Even though beige isn’t necessarily the most flattering color, somehow she found a way to stand out with the look.
Billie Eilish’s Matching Plaid Set With Bedazzled Headpiece For American Music Awards
The same year, Billie Eilish turned up to the American Music Awards in a matching plaid set paired with an embellished crystal netted hat from the Burberry Menswear Spring 2020 collection. Once again, the singer brought a completely unique energy to the red carpet by making an oversized masculine-skewing style completely her own.
Billie Eilish Sweeps The Grammys In A Sparkly Gucci Number
The “bad guy” singer won all four major categories at the 62nd Grammy Awards (the youngest to do so) by taking home Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year. While the artist could have gone off brand for the biggest night of her career at the time, she remained true to her own fashion sense with another oversized look from Gucci, which was really tied together by long green nail art that apparently took four hours to paint on.
Billie Goes To Her First Academy Awards In A White Chanel Ensemble
A couple of years before she and her brother, Finneas, wrote No Time To Die ’s Oscar-winning theme song together , Eilish attended her first Academy Awards in 2020 to perform that year’s in memoriam performance. Sure, at this point her big looks followed around the same formula, but there’s power in her subtly. The artist was completely distinct from the other ladies walking the red carpet, and looked a lot more comfy than 90 percent of them.
There’s, of course, nothing wrong with putting on a ballgown, but the singer/songwriter did a great job of disrupting the norm of the teen pop star by placing the focus away from her body and onto the work.
Billie Eilish Wears A Full Ball Gown To Get One Fashion Brand To Go Fur-Free
Eilish has long been an environmental activist, and took that passion to the red carpet in 2021 when she attended the Met Gala. After going viral for dyeing her hair blonde for her second album, Happier Than Ever , she made a rare appearance in a full ball gown for the red carpet. The peach Oscar De La Renta dress served as a statement by the singer because she would only work with the fashion brand if the designer stopped selling fur. She made it happen, and gave us a starstruck red carpet look to remember all at once.
The Singer Goes Goth For The 2022 Academy Awards
The talent once again opted for a rare appearance in a dress to walk the red carpet at the 2022 Oscars, where she and Finneas won their first Academy Award for No Time To Die ’s theme song. Eilish stayed true to herself by going for a gothic ruffle-filled dress that allowed her to get away from showing her curves. When one social media post named her “worst dressed,” she took to TikTok to flip them off while on the toilet .
Billie Puts Her Own Spin On Barbiecore For The Barbie Premiere
During the Barbie press tour, much of the cast had a blast going full Barbiecore in promotion of the movie – especially Margot Robbie ! When Eilish rolled up to the premiere over summer, she put her own Billie spin on the trend by going for a button-up pink shirt, a pink tie and some oversized tennis shoes that looks straight out of a cartoon.
Eilish Accessorizes A Pinstripe Suit With Grills For Academy Gala
Following Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” getting a viral reaction from the world after Barbie ’s release, the singer attended tons of events in promotion for Greta Gerwig ’s movie and her song’s many award nominations (and wins). Among them was this innovative look of the star rocking a sultry pinstripe suit with glasses, a headscarf and some silver grills. She once again showed literally no one is doing red carpet looks like her!
The Singer Takes Her Oversized Look To New Levels For The Golden Globes
Eilish is well known for oversized fashion, but she took that to new places for the 2024 Golden Globes, where she won Best Original Song for Barbie with her brother. It’s another simple and understated look for the red carpet, as far as red carpet looks go, but also completely Billie.
Billie Eilish Wins Her Second Oscar With Another Blazer Moment
And here’s one more from her latest Oscars win, which ended up to be one of the best moments of the night ! All and all, Eilish has never gone for the ordinary or the typical red carpet look, and it has challenged what we have come to expect from women’s fashion in Hollywood.
Through her unique sense of style, Billie Eilish communicates that women do not have to be sparkly, uncomfy or show a lot of skin if they want to look gorgeous and express themselves!

The project marks the first stage venture for LuckyChap, whose other film and TV credits include Promising Young Woman, I, Tonya and the Hulu TV series Dollface .
The Big Gay Jamboree , according to the synopsis, “centers on Stacey, who after blacking out from 18 Jägerbombs, wakes up hungover in the most terrifying place of all: an Off-Broadway musical. With no memory of how she got there, Stacey is forced to put her BFA in theater to use, belt her face off, and figure out how the hell she’s gonna escape this 1940s golden age musical…while a live audience watches.”
In a joint statement, LuckyChap said, “We’ve been admiring Marla Mindelle’s work for quite some time and our adoration only grew when we were blown away by Titaníque . We knew that we wanted to be a part of bringing Marla’s The Big Gay Jamboree to the stage. We’ve been wanting to find a way into the theatre space and couldn’t be more thrilled for this to be our first foray alongside the incredible team involved.”
Said Wagner and Johnson, “Few things have given us greater hope in the future of the American theater than the recent renaissance we’ve seen happen downtown. We’re excited to bring Marla back to Off-Broadway audiences, and welcome LuckyChap into the theatrical fray.”
Full casting is to be announced at a later date.
Titaníque , a jukebox musical parody of the 1997 film Titanic , features the songs of Céline Dion and includes a Céline Dion character who hijacks a tour at a Titanic museum and provides her take on what really happened to Jack and Rose that fateful night. The show premiered in Los Angeles in 2017, then began an Off Broadway run at the Asylum Theatre in 2022 (later transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre, where it continues to play). Titaníque won the Off Broadway Lucille Lortel Awards for outstanding musical, lead performer (Mindelle) and costume design (Alejo Vietti).

Billie Eilish is so sick of talking about her Oscar-winning “Barbie” song.
The singer, who co-wrote “What Was I Made For?” with brother-collaborator Finneas for Greta Gerwig’s movie, finally has time to talk about how tiring it was to promote the song and attend all those awards ceremonies.
“Bro, nobody can get enough of me,” she told Rolling Stone . “Every second of every day is Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, which is great, but as soon as the Oscars are over and I lose, I’m going the f— away. I’m literally gone.”
She did not, in fact, lose the Academy Award for original song, and she and Finneas became the youngest two-time winners in Oscars history . The duo also picked up a Golden Globe and a Grammy for the hit .
Billie Eilish slams Variety for ‘outing’ her sexuality at red carpet: ‘Leave me alone’
Billie Eilish called out Variety in an Instagram post for ‘outing me on a red carpet... instead of talking about anything else’ at its Hitmakers Brunch.
Dec. 4, 2023
Eilish told the magazine — in what she said was her first non-”Barbie” interview in more than a year — that the song became a bigger hit than she was anticipating.
The 22-year-old hitmaker is set to release her third album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” on May 17. Though she is exploring different sounds and more mature themes than in her previous work, she and Finneas, who was also interviewed for the profile, revealed that the opening track mirrors “What Was I Made For?”
She and Finneas had writer’s block when they were creating the “Barbie” track, and they ended up writing this new song first, she said.
The tune, with its yet-to-be-revealed title, became the catalyst for the emotional and delicate “Barbie” hit, sharing its whispered sound and a similarly graceful melody. It explores the myth that losing weight means gaining happiness — another emotional theme that, like the one in “What Was I Made For?,” often plagues girls and women as they grow up.
Billie Eilish on her summer blockbuster ‘anti-single’: ‘The song was an excuse to say the truth’
Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’, co-written with her brother Finneas O’Connell, has transcended the smash-hit film it arrived with.
Oct. 11, 2023
Eilish, 22, said she felt like she had been making music and working nonstop since she hit the A-list as a teenager.
“I had this moment of like, ‘Oh, my God, I haven’t had fun in seven years.’ Truly. I had this illusion that I had, because who experiences going to the Grammys at basically 17 and winning five ?” she said. “But in life, I realized I had really not experienced that much. I didn’t go outside for five years. How was I supposed to have any experiences?”
Since 2019, the singer has put out two albums, written and performed songs for “No Time to Die” and “Barbie” (winning Oscars for both), headlined at Coachella and picked up more than a few Grammys. After the lengthy and very pink “Barbie” promotional tour, she said she was relieved to catch a break.
That is, until her next album kicks off a whole new cycle.

Zendaya serves 'tenniscore' on 'Challengers' red carpet. Now fans are making it a trend.
Zendaya has served themed red carpet looks while promoting her tennis-centric film “Challengers.” Now, fans of the star are hopping on the trend, giving rise to attire inspired by the sport.
Fashion industry experts predict that Zendaya’s looks — and “Challengers” itself — will help further fuel an obsession with what’s been described online as tenniscore, which refers to a tennis-inspired aesthetic.
The style — which typically features wardrobe staples like tennis whites, pleated skirts and cable knits — has been growing in popularity for years, according to trend forecaster WGSN. Last year, in particular, interest in tenniscore styles increased 7%, WGSN said in a recent report.
The fashion genre’s appeal stems from the growth of racquet sports in general, including tennis and pickleball, in the years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Yvonne Kostiak, head of active at WGSN.
Racquet sports gave people a socially distant opportunity to socialize, and now people are continuing to use these activities as an alternative way to meet friends instead of going to a bar, Kostiak said.
Zendaya plays Tashi Duncan, a tennis player turned coach, in the Luca Guadagnino-directed film, which also stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. The fictional Duncan has already generated buzz based on the trailers, but Zendaya’s style has especially caught the eye of fashion enthusiasts.
The movie is “going to elevate tenniscore,” Kostiak said. “And I think it’s going to make it a bit more fancy and dressy in comparison to that preppier, slightly more basic look that we’ve already seen for a while.”
Just like people wore their pinkest clothes for “Barbie ” or friendship bracelets for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” film , moviegoers are already indicating they will go all out.
“The difference with the ‘Barbie’ film is that it felt very of that moment,” Kostiak said. “But I think there are consumer drivers beneath this trend that are strong enough to keep this kind of tennis, preppy, casual wear with a fashion influence going for a good couple of years.”
In a post on social media , Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach urged fans to wear their best tenniscore outfits to the theaters, asking them to share their outfits with the hashtag #TashiMadeMeWearIt.
Jasmine Perillo, a creator who makes content about film and fashion, said she’s been loving movie-inspired style challenges because they are “getting people back in the theaters and watching movies where they should be watched.”
Taking inspiration from Roach’s styling of Zendaya, Perillo created an all-white outfit with pops of tennis ball green and posted it to her Instagram reel. The pieces were an homage to a Prada grommet skirt and Zendaya’s custom Loewe tennis ball heels — which garnered headlines for their playful take on the tennis theme.
“Tenniscore can either be dressed up, like think the outfit I DIYed — I feel like that’s more dressy — or even think about Wimbledon fashion, like that’s a little bit more elevated,” Perillo said. “But tenniscore can also just remain kind of just like sporty and practical.”
The trend is a natural evolution from athleisure, which was characterized by yoga pants and windbreakers, according to Kostiak.
It “has that comfort aspect, but it’s slightly smarter and dressier so you can still look good socializing, wearing it beyond the court, or even to work scenarios,” she said.
Taylor Timinskas, a fashion creator, said that she believes Roach has helped present a new twist on the typical tenniscore look.
“I really enjoyed this ‘Challengers’ press tour because we got a lot of different variations on what we would consider tenniscore or even some more literal tennis-inspired outfits,” said Timinskas, who said she plans to dress up to watch the movie whenever she snags tickets. “So it’s a fun way to also get a lot of custom looks by different designers and kind of see different spins and takes on the tenniscore aesthetic.”
While Zendaya’s outfits have incorporated plenty of the typical tenniscore elements, others take inspiration from the game or its players, including a Loewe dress depicting a player serving , a Lacoste skirt made to look like a net and a re-creation of the Carolina Herrera striped dress worn by Venus and Serena Williams for a Vogue photo shoot in 1998.
“This whole tennis thing is also more about a lifestyle,” Roach said during a Vogue interview with Zendaya, which documented the two getting her ready for the “Challengers” premiere. “I think Tashi … as she got older she had a certain lifestyle. I think that plays into if she was a real person.”
Zendaya’s first red carpet look on the press tour was intended to “help introduce the character into this world,” Roach said in the video. “We want to make sure we give the people that first right taste.”

Belgium's Manon De Roey cruised to her second Ladies European Tour title after a dominant four-shot victory at the South Africa Women's Open on Sunday.
She led by three shots on 14-under par before the start of play, and managed to take on the windy conditions at Erinvale carding an even-par round of 70 to claim her second title.
De Roey started well and carded her first birdie of the day on the par-5 seventh before dropping a shot after missing the green on the par-3 eighth whilst Morocco's Ines Laklalech and Sweden's Lisa Pettersson dropped shots early on.
