Zip Lining and Canopy Adventure in Arkansas

The zip line craze started in Costa Rica, allowing tourists to race through the gorgeous rainforest canopies. However, there are several gorgeous canopies to zip right here in the U.S,  including Arkansas. Check out these scenic adventure tour sites below.

Buffalo River Canopy Tour (Ponca)

This was the first zip line tour offered in Arkansas, hosted by the Buffalo Outdoor Center. The Buffalo River is an amazing, scenic spot in Arkansas, and the zip line goes through the canopy of the hardwood forest in Ponca . It's geared for guests ages 10+ who weigh between 70 and 250 lbs. The tour averages 2 hours and requires a group of four to schedule a tour. For pricing information, check out the tour website .

Loco Ropes (Mountain View)

Loco Ropes, in Mountain View, is not just a zip line course -- it also offers climbing and other obstacles. They call themselves a "thrilling high wire adventure rope course with 3 different segments totaling 30+ challenges to test your nerve, endurance, agility, and strength." Located at the ​ Ozark Folk Center State Park , you must be at least 43 inches tall and weigh less than 290 pounds.  For pricing information, ​check out the tour website.

Zippin Griffin (Hardy)

The Zippin Griffin is a 5-thousand foot zip line located at Griffin Park in Hardy, Ark. (It claims to be the longest zip line in Arkansas.) The zip line has 5 sections, the longest being 1,800 feet. The longest section passes over the Spring River at speeds up to 55 mph (depending on your weight). Their weight limit is 275 lbs. 

The Zip Lines and Ouachita Bend (Hot Springs)

This zip line features 7 different lines. The three-hour tour combines zip lining and hiking and requires a group of at least 6. You must weigh a minimum of 100 pounds to a maximum of 275 pounds. There is a range of pricing, depending on whether you do the full tour or a couple of zips -- ​ check the tour website for price specifics. ​

But, when it comes to zipline tours, this Hot Springs-based amusement center sets itself apart by offering an exhilarating zipline experience that is 500 feet above the ground. Although, there is a minimum height limit for its zipline course, which requires you to be at least 42 inches.

The majority of the zipline facilities and parks in Arkansas are located in mountain and forest areas, which provide an extreme adventure in the wilderness. What to Expect

Please check-in for your trip 30 minutes prior to your reservation at the Adventure Deck. After checking in, you will receive all required gear including a harness, gloves, and helmet. NOC does have a limited supply of helmets with Go-Pro mounts. Once you have been fitted and checked for proper gear and equipment, you will load up on an NOC shuttle and head to the top of the mountain. There, you will complete ground school alongside elite NOC Aerial Guides to learn proper breaking and zipping techniques before taking on the first in the series of zips. Once your Mountaintop Zip Line Tour is complete, an NOC guide will shuttle you back to the Adventure Center to return your equipment.

Participants must be 10+ years of age and be between 100 – 250lbs. All minors (17 and under) must be accompanied by a participating adult during the activity.

This zip line requires participation of the user in the form of climbing stairs, and hand breaking approaching the receiving platform. You must be able to put both arms above your head and be able to see the guide on the platform with signaling.

Participants must meet age, weight, and chest size minimums and maximums specific to this trip. Please read our General Participant Eligibility & Recommendations for more information.

NOC provides harnesses, zip lining gloves, and helmets for this zip line adventure.

Please wear sturdy shoes like sneakers or tennis shoes, that will stay on securely during the trip. No sandals, water shoes, Crocs, Tevas, Keens, or Chacos are allowed. Comfortable clothing is preferred as you will be in a harness for approximately 3 hours. Please leave all valuable items locked in your car, and a guide will take your keys before your trip begins.

Enjoy riverside dining at one of our two locations conveniently located right on campus. River’s End Restaurant offers American-style cuisine with pizza, sandwiches, salads and more. Big Wesser features quick Southern fare like burgers and barbeque. Both have a great selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.
