Bremach T-Rex

By Amos Kwon

bremach-t-rex-gear-patrol

Essentially a plug-in steroidal, man-sized Tonka truck, the Bremach T-Rex takes green power beyond mere passenger cars and into the realm of ruggedly capable vehicles. Bremach has been making industrial grade trucks since the 1950s and is now breaking new ground with this monster that houses a 100kW electric motor providing a 150 mile range, just enough to drive around your city to simultaneously petrify and impress diminutive hybrid drivers. For increased range, you can also opt for a standard gas V8 powered engine that gets a lengthy 20 mpg on the highway. The most boast-worthy aspect of this beast of burden is that the spaceframe can handle 5 Gs of force, the equivalent of having an angry herd of pregnant rhinos run at it (just kidding).

Bremach T-Rex Shows Abilities of Electric Large Work Truck

In trying to prove that EV technology is capable of being adapted to heavy duty trucks, truck builder Bremach hopes their new T-Rex is just the machine to do just that. With an electric motor that provides 10 kW of power at 0 rpm, the T-Rex has a claimed 150-mile range even when under working conditions. With three rows of seating, Bremach engineers and designers came up with an exposed skeleton design to accommodate the necessary space.

The company claims that it can withstand five Gs of force, which is two Gs more than its competition. And if a full EV truck of this type isn't for you, the company is also offering the T-Rex with a 6.0-liter Chevrolet V8 gasoline engine that's mated to either a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission. Bremach claims the gasoline-powered version is still capable of achieving 20 mpg on the highway. In addition to both of these, there are also compressed natural gas and hybrid options. Each of the powertrains are available as either a two or four-door hardtop along with a two-door convertible.

As most can guess, the T-Rex isn't cheap, with the EV version topping off at around $120,000 when fully loaded.

Bremach T-Rex Truck: Compact, Rugged And Available With An Electric Drivetrain

Tough guys deserve rugged rides.  And when a Land Rover is too small and a full-size truck is too big, the Bremach T-Rex is just the perfect vehicle to steal your attention.

Styled to offer maximum cab space while staying compact, the truck measures just 69.7 inches wide, leaving every backroad and tight space an easily manageable drive.  With 11 inches of ground clearance and  a 31-inch fording capability, it should be capable of handling any difficult terrain.

The Bremach T-Rex has an exoskeleton cab that looks boxier than usual, which turns out to be surprisingly attractive.  It goes beyond being veritable eye candy, though, as that frame essentially doubles as a virtual roll cage.  The space-frame will reputedly handle 5 Gs of force, which you can imagine as a top-fuel dragster going from 0 to 100 mph in around 0.9 seconds smashing into you.  That’s wicked strong.

One of the slim truck’s most notable features is the variety in power options.  You can outfit it with a regular gas or diesel engine for weekend outdoor use (standard offerings are a 323-hp GM Vortec V-8 and a 325-hp Cummins I-6).  If you’d like some green cred to go with your burly everyday ride, you can score it with a plug-in setup consisting of a 114-volt VLV motor and a 100kW battery module,  which sets it up for a 65 mph top speed and a 150-mile range.

The Best Hybrid Trucks For Towing, Hauling, And Fuel-Efficient Driving

As with most specialty rides, they offer plenty of options in parts for this full-time 4×4, so you can geek out on specs when ordering one.  Price starts at $120,000.  You can check out Bremach’s website to learn more.

Bremach T.TREK -

  • immer in ausreichender Menge vorhanden

Last but not least: Containertauglichkeit

MfG S.Breinig

“It didn’t do us any good”: Star Trek Legend Leonard Nimoy Never Forgave a Movie That “Nearly Derailed” the Franchise

T he 1979 film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture,  was quite disappointing for fans of the original series. Although the film kicked off the cinematic run of the franchise, it has been regarded as one of the weaker contenders in the entire series. So much so, that some believe it to have almost ruined the film series’s start altogether.

Leonard Nimoy’s Distain Towards Star Trek: The Motion Picture

In 2005, Leonard Nimoy gave an in-depth interview with TrekMovie , where he touched on the topic of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.  He specifically talked about how the film fits in with the rest of the series. He talked about how Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan ended up becoming the real beginning of the series because of the performance of the 1979 project.

The second Star Trek movie put the franchise back on track. The first one derailed us, it didn’t do us any good. Perhaps some people made some money.

Patrick Stewart: One Marvel Star “Wouldn’t engage with any of us on a social level”, Made it Difficult to Communicate in $67M Star Trek Bomb

Although many did watch it and the film made an impressive amount of money, it was unable to truly establish the essence of the franchise. Not until the second part came around in 1982.

Lenord Nimoy Excludes Star Trek: The Motion Picture  From The Trilogy

Lenord Nimoy then talked about Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in more detail, mentioning how he believed this project to have been the true start of the Star Trek trilogy . When they were making the second film, it was almost obligatory. After making a film of a successful story, it is only natural to make another part.

“I think I stole them”: Marina Sirtis Stole 2 Star Trek Props, One of Which She Ended up Wearing 18 Years Later in ‘Picard’

The second one put us back on track and what happened, unintentionally, we didn’t realize that we were at the beginning of a trilogy. That the three films, II, III and IV, told a story that had and arc to day and they hung together in an interesting way. III was obligatory, we had to get Spock back and IV was the completion of that cycle.

The Star Trek franchise is available for streaming on Paramount+.

  • Excitement and pride shine through reactions from cast members, writers, and key production personnel.

Star Trek: Picard season 3's actors and members of its creative team react to showrunner Terry Matalas jumping to Marvel Studios. Matalas, the acclaimed architect of Star Trek: Picard season 3 , was named showrunner of Marvel's upcoming Vision series , a continuation of WandaVision that stars Paul Bettany as the heroic synthezoid Avenger. Marvel's unnamed Vision series is targeting a 2026 debut on Disney+.

On X, Star Trek: Picard season 3 cast members, writers, and key production personnel congratulated Terry Matalas on his move to Marvel. First is Jeri Ryan, who played Captain Seven of Nine and has been friends with Matalas since t hey both started out together on Star Trek: Voyager :

Todd Stashwick, who played Captain Liam Shaw in Star Trek: Picard season 3 and has been a longtime friend and collaborator of Terry Matalas' since 12 Monkeys offered his excitement:

Michelle Hurd, who played Commander Raffi Musiker and was the only original Star Trek: Picard character to appear in all 3 seasons, is also thrilled for Terry Matalas:

What Terry Matalas Going To Marvel Means For Star Trek: Picard's Potential Spinoff

Things don't look good for star trek: legacy.

Paramount+ never indicated that a spinoff of Star Trek: Picard season 3 was in development at any point, despite popular demand from fans and Picard 's cast and creative team. Star Trek: Picard season 3's ending set up a continuation that was dubbed Star Trek: Legacy set aboard the USS Enterprise-G led by Captain Seven of Nine, and an end-credits scene revealed the return of Q (John de Lancie) to torment Jean-Luc Picard's (Patrick Stewart) son, Ensign Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers). But Star Trek: Legacy was a pie-in-the-sky idea that never became a concrete go-project.

Paramount's pending sale makes future Star Trek projects questionable, although Paramount+ is moving ahead with Star Trek: Section 31 and new seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy .

Terry Matalas moving on to work on Vision for Marvel Studios means the loss of the primary creative force behind Star Trek: Picard' s spinoff. With Vision targeting a 2026 release date on Disney+, Matalas will be deep in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the next couple of years, at least . Vision 's expected success will likely open more doors at Marvel for Matalas, which could further keep him away from Star Trek . Star Trek: Picard 's spinoff seems unlikely to happen any time in the near future, but this is Star Trek, after all, and there are always possibilities.

Slow warp —

New warp drive concept does twist space, doesn’t move us very fast, while it won't make a useful spaceship engine, it may tell us more about relativity..

Paul Sutter - May 23, 2024 12:55 pm UTC

The Enterprise, caught in the wake of a temporal vortex, witnesses the Earth, assimilated long ago, in the altered timeline.

A team of physicists has discovered that it’s possible to build a real, actual, physical warp drive and not break any known rules of physics. One caveat: the vessel doing the warping can’t exceed the speed of light, so you’re not going to get anywhere interesting any time soon. But this research still represents an important advance in our understanding of gravity.

Moving without motion

Einstein’s general theory of relativity is a toolkit for solving problems involving gravity that connects mass and energy with deformations in spacetime. In turn, those spacetime deformations instruct the mass and energy how to move. In almost all cases, physicists use the equations of relativity to figure out how a particular combination of objects will move. They have some physical scenario, like a planet orbiting a star or two black holes colliding, and they ask how those objects deform spacetime and what the subsequent evolution of the system should be.

But it’s also possible to run Einstein’s math in reverse by imagining some desired motion and asking what kind of spacetime deformation can make it possible. This is how the Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre discovered the physical basis for a warp drive—long a staple of the Star Trek franchise.

The goal of a warp drive is to get from A to B in the time between commercial breaks, which typically involves faster-than-light motion. But special relativity expressly forbids speeds faster than light. While this never bothered the writers of Star Trek , it did irritate Alcubierre. He discovered that it was possible to build a warp drive through a clever manipulation of spacetime, arranging it so that space in front of a vessel gets scrunched up and the space behind the vessel stretched out. This generates motion without, strictly speaking, movement.

It sounds like a contradiction, but that’s just one of the many wonderful aspects of general relativity. Alcubierre’s warp drive avoids violations of the speed-of-light limit because it never moves through space; instead space itself is manipulated to, in essence, bring the spacecraft’s destination closer to it.

While tantalizing, Alcubierre’s design has a fatal flaw. To provide the necessary distortions of spacetime, the spacecraft must contain some form of exotic matter, typically regarded as matter with negative mass. Negative mass has some conceptual problems that seem to defy our understanding of physics, like the possibility that if you kick a ball that weighs negative 5 kilograms, it will go flying backwards, violating conservation of momentum. Plus, nobody has ever seen any object with negative mass existing in the real Universe, ever.

These problems with negative mass have led physicists to propose various versions of “energy conditions” as supplements to general relativity. These aren’t baked into relativity itself, but add-ons needed because general relativity allows things like negative mass that don’t appear to exist in our Universe—these energy conditions keep them out of relativity’s equations. They’re scientists’ response to the unsettling fact that vanilla GR allows for things like superluminal motion, but the rest of the Universe doesn’t seem to agree.

Warp factor zero

The energy conditions aren’t experimentally or observationally proven, but they are statements that concord with all observations of the Universe, so most physicists take them rather seriously. And until recently, physicists have viewed those energy conditions as making it absolutely 100 percent clear that you can’t build a warp drive, even if you really wanted to.

But there is a way around it, discovered by an international team of physicists led by Jared Fuchs at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. (The team is also affiliated with the Applied Propulsion Laboratory of Applied Physics, a virtual think tank dedicated to the research of, among many other things, warp drives.) In a paper accepted for publication in the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity , the researchers dug deep into relativity to explore if any version of a warp drive could work.

The equations of general relativity are notoriously difficult to solve, especially in complex cases such as a warp drive. So the team turned to software algorithms; instead of trying to solve the equations by hand, they explored their solutions numerically and verified that they conformed to the energy conditions.

The team did not actually attempt to construct a propulsion device. Instead, they explored various solutions to general relativity that would allow travel from point to point without a vessel undergoing any acceleration or experiencing any overwhelming gravitational tidal forces within the vessel, much to the comfort of any imagined passengers. They then checked whether these solutions adhered to the energy conditions that prevent the use of exotic matter.

The researchers did indeed discover a warp drive solution: a method of manipulating space so that travelers can move without accelerating. There is no such thing as a free lunch, however, and the physicality of this warp drive does come with a major caveat: the vessel and passengers can never travel faster than light. Also disappointing: the fact that the researchers behind the new work don’t seem to bother with figuring out what configurations of matter would allow the warping to happen.
