I believe that the guide makes the experience, and our guide, German Rojas, was SUPERB!!!! From his leadership, knowledge, crowd-handling abilities to his grace and humor, he is an all-around 5-star guide! Don't lose him! I loved the itinerary, especially the wildlife watching opportunities. I personally would like maybe a little less time at Arenal volcano, with more time at either Tortuguero or Manuel Antonio, but I would definitely recommend this itinerary to friends and family!

Nice tour. Probably not the perfect fit for me. Im younger and single so therefore i didnt really fit in. Also would like less bus time and a bit more active. But for the money it was just fine.

Costa Rica Pure Nature 10 days

Oldemar was extremely responsive and able to plan our trip for us at the last minute. I highly recommend this tour as it is one of the few that takes you to Corcovado National Park in the south. Our 3 days in that region were our absolute favorite!

Natural Wonders of Costa Rica with Guanacaste

The tour itself was great however there were way too many people on the tour. When I booked it said a maximum of 20 people but there were 38 on the tour. This meant that there was always half of us that couldn't hear the guide or missed the wildlife. This was very upsetting to pay a lot of money to miss things that the other travelers were experiencing!!!

I will be sending a detailed assessment to Destiny Travel in the near future. Overall excellent, with superior interaction with Destiny's staff during the course of our trip. All stays were interesting, we are considering a future variation on this tour, but well worth taking and enjoying this package.

Costa Rica's Coastal Secrets

A very well organised trip with an excellent, varied itinerary. I was lucky to be in a really friendly group, very important as one of only two people travelling alone. Our guide was very professional, efficient and knowledgeable. The Caribbean part of the trip was somewhat spoiled by the very outdated accommodation but the rest of the hotels were very good and in beautiful locations. The wildlife viewing was at times spectacular, in particular the surfing dolphins and flying stingrays. Some of the travelling involved very long days on the coach so on any future trip I would try to concentrate on a smaller area.

The trip was amazing. Our guide was outstanding; very intelligent, knowledgeable, funny, loves to sing and friendly; very accommodating. Great with kids and people of all ages. Our driver was great, also funny.

Having done more than a dozen GLOBUS tours in the past, we can honestly say that this was one of the best. Our superb tour guide: Jorge Avila was a top flite naturalist and made this an outstanding eco-tour of his beloved country. He was always available to answer questions from all of all our tour members. We also truly felt that warmth of the friendly people of Costa Rica. The travel arrangements, accommodation, and food were excellent. The driver was excellent and the guide very good. I was with a lovely group of people. Unfortunately we had torrential rain at Arenal and Monteverde which meant that we got soaking wet and didn't see a lot. The other four locations were wonderful, particularly Savegre cloud forest. I would have loved to have stayed there another night and gone straight to the airport from there. I didn't particularly enjoy the farm visit and afterwards found myself covered in flea bites! Altogether though it was a great trip with beautiful birds and wonderful scenery.

When you’re located between two gigantic continents, you might be considered a bridge; a place of transit, a place for moving through rather than into. As long ago as 2005, we began – after a chance trip found us in its hushed jungle depths – the patient work of finding out every detail and part of this staggering country; of seeing it as a destination in its own right, rather than a point between. We spent time with the Marimba musicians of Nicoya. We talked with restauranteurs and hoteliers in San Jose. We joined tribal guides and trekked through from the Caribbean coast. We searched for the ruins of ancient civilizations and came eventually to Arenal Volcano. Today, our luxury itineraries are the product of our curiosity and the contacts we’ve made since those early days. An ATV Ride to Seaside Heights

After enjoying breakfast at Villa Caletas with mountain and ocean views, your guide picks you up for a quick 15-minute drive to the buzzing beach town of Jacó.

There you choose from a fleet of ATVs and soon tear off on a nature trail that snakes up into the mountainous terrain set just back from the shore. The four-hour excursion takes you through a diverse landscape, down dense rainforest paths that pop out at wide farmland, along rivers and streams to tiny hidden villages. Enjoy a swim at a secluded waterfall and an authentic Costa Rican lunch at a remote tilapia farm. Take in soaring views over the Nicoya Peninsula from a lofty lookout point before your descent back to civilization.

Set Sail for Tortuga Island

Refreshed by a night’s sleep to the soft sounds of the jungle and ocean waves, you embark on an outing to an idyllic island.

With a pick-up at your hotel, you ride in air-conditioned comfort to the nearby Los Suenos Marina. There you step onto a modern catamaran for a cruise across calm ocean waters. You’ll likely spot diving dolphins and swooping seabirds on the scenic trip that takes less than an hour, a comfortable voyage with shaded seating areas, iced beverages, and a complimentary fruit plate.

Then you arrive on the white-sand shores of Tortuga Island, backed by swaying palms to create a sublime scene that reminds of a Caribbean paradise.

On the isle enjoy a range of activities, from snorkeling in turquoise waters and beach volleyball to exploring the inland trails and a wild banana boat ride. Revel in complimentary margaritas and rum punch, savor a four-course lunch, and bask on the beach before boarding the boat at the end of the amazing day.

Discover a Wild Crocodile Habitat

More than 2,000 American crocodiles call the Tárcoles River home. And you’re going right into their territory en route to Monteverde. A safe way to explore this stunning habitat, the river excursion takes you on a slow-moving cruise through mangrove-lined canals.

Chug along riverbanks where the ominous creatures, some up to 15-feet long, sun themselves, barely noting your close-by passing. You’re apt to spot a host of wildlife, notably some of the more than fifty species of birds including egrets and scarlet macaws that reside in the lush haven. But the big draw is the crocodiles. Lots, and lots of them.

And you’ll even watch a crocodile handler interact with some of the mighty beasts before your river tour ends.

Moving on to Monteverde

Bid farewell to the coastal waterways and prepare for a new experience in the cloud forest as your VIP transportation continues whisking you along to the mountain enclave of Monteverde.

You’re delivered to the Monteverde Lodge and Gardens, where you’ll enjoy rustic-chic comfort for two nights and mornings with included made-to-order breakfasts. Tucked into extensive gardens, the Monteverde Lodge welcomes with a heated outdoor pool and deluxe accommodations that abound with rich native hardwoods.

Walk along its orchid trail, check out the indoor butterfly garden, and gather around a roaring fire at the El Jardin Bar and Restaurant.

Then it’s off for a nature walk through the rainforest where sloths spend their lazy days literally hanging out in the trees. You wind through an overflow of native plants and trees, crossing a series of hanging bridges. Now it’s time to fly over the treetops on a network of ziplines that crisscross the verdant mountainous lands. Reaching speeds of over 40 miles per hour, this leg is accessible for nearly all but not for the faint-hearted.

Are you ready for a triple-dose of adventure?

This three-part tour first takes you on a gondola ride with stunning views of the Arenal Volcano, floating over a jungle canopy that a multitude of monkeys and scores of bird species call home. You climb over 2,500 feet to disembark with sweeping views across a lush valley.

Travel by 4x4 and Boat

Traveling is the adventure tour when going from Monteverde to La Fortuna. We begin with a pick-up at your hotel and a take a 4x4 drive making your way to Arenal.

The scenic route takes you along Lake Arenal with magnificent views of the Arenal Volcano, down jungle and rainforest trails, and past wide-open farmland.

You dismount by the edge of Lake Arenal where a water taxi will take you over to La Fortuna on the other side of the lake. The covered flat-bottomed motorboat takes under an hour to cross the glorious body of water. So settle in to enjoy the fresh air and lake views and keep an eye out for the myriad of tropical birds that populate the spot. On the opposite shore, ground transportation will be waiting to take you on to your hotel.

Arrival in La Fortuna

Home to the famed Arenal Volcano, your private transport drops you within sight of its dramatic peak, where the Tabacón Thermal Resort and Spa waits ready to please over two nights and three days.

With access to the resort’s extensive on-site hot springs, it´ll be hard to tear yourself away from the serene sanctuary. Add in suites with jacuzzis, volcano-heated pools, and lush grounds with charming bridges crossing slow-flowing streams to complete your tropical retreat.

You can fuel up for adventure with a hearty included breakfast at the Los Tucanes restaurant, then go explore!

Rafting Ride Down the Balsa River

Well suited for both newbies and experienced rafters, the Class II and III whitewater rapids offer adventure for just about everyone. After some instruction and getting fitted with safety gear, you put in and paddle off with your guides.

The more challenging runs come up rather quickly, bouncing you down adrenaline-pumping whitewater.

Booking Terms and Conditions

Participants are responsible for obtaining proper entry documentation. All foreign nationals including infants are required to possess a valid passport to enter Costa Rica. All passports must have at least six months remaining before expiration at time of departure from Costa Rica. Visitors from the US traveling with a passport issued by a US agency are not required to have a visa or shots when traveling from the US, but visa and/or shot records may be required by travelers from other countries or US travelers when the US is not their point of embarkation before arriving in Costa Rica. It is each traveler’s responsibility to ascertain whether a visa or shots will be required and to secure necessary documentation prior to travel. No refunds will be given for missed flights or denied entry caused by failure to carry proper documentation or for any other reason. If travel documents are lost or stolen or other issues need to be resolved with the participant’s embassy once in Costa Rica, there will be no refund for forfeited transfers, hotel rooms, or tours. We will gladly provide assistance, but any incurred expense would need to be paid at time service is rendered and are at the guest’s sole expense. Visitors to Costa Rica may carry a copy of their passport in lieu of the original while traveling within the country.

DEPARTURE TAX

Departure Tax is now included in ticket price for most airlines, but please verify with your air carrier prior to travel.

DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS

A deposit of $100 per person is required at time of booking. Deposits are non-refundable unless stated differently at time of booking. If you are not paying in full at the time you make your reservation, you will receive an invoice with a final payment due date specified. If we have your credit card on file, it will automaWilllly be charged for any balance on the due date specified, if payment has not been made in full in advance of due date. It is your responsibility to notify us if your credit card expires or is cancelled. If you are making payment on-line and we do not have your account information on file, a payment reminder will be sent and payment will need to be received by agreed due date. Any reservation made within 31 days prior to arrival must be paid in full at time of booking. If payment is not made in full by the specified due date, reservation will be cancelled, rooms and tour activity space released, and no refund of any deposits or payments collected will be refunded.

CHANGES TO ITINERARY

Any changes to the itinerary at the guest’s request while in Costa Rica are at the guest’s sole expense. NO REFUNDS will be given for any unused rooms, tours, meals, or transfers. No exceptions will be made. For bookings made within 30 days prior to departure date, the itinerary is final. We will do our best to assist with making changes with change fees assessed.

• Within 61+ days of travel: $25.00 per change
• Within 15-60 days of Travel: $50.00 per change
• Within 14 days of Travel: $100.00 for parties of one to five, $150.00 for parties of six or more
• All change requests must be via telephone during regular business hours. Changes to reservations cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to assist you.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be relayed to us via telephone during regular business hours and must also be submitted in writing to our office. The date of the response from us, acknowledging receipt of your request with our cancellation confirmation number, is the date that will be used to determine which penalties outlined below will be assessed. It is your responsibility to verify that you have written notification from us that your request has been received. No refunds will be made for unused hotel rooms, meals, diving, tours, or transfers. These policies do not apply to any airfare booked though Find My Costa Rica S.A. You will be given specific airline cancellation policies at time of booking. The policy for the property where you are staying and the dives you booked are subject to the following cancellation penalties:

• Peak Season Dec 20 – Jan 8th / Easter Week Cancellations 91+ days prior to arrival – loss of deposit. Cancellations 90 or fewer days prior to arrival – 100% penalty
• High /Mid Season Jan 9th to May 1st / July 1 to Aug 31st  Cancellations 61+ days prior to arrival – loss of deposit. Cancellations less than 45-60 days prior to arrival – loss of deposit and any penalties applied by providers. Cancellations 44 or fewer days prior to arrival – 100% penalty
• Low Season May 1st to June 30th / Sept 1st to Dec 19th Cancellations 45+ days prior to arrival – loss of deposit. Cancellations less than 31-44 days prior to arrival – loss of deposit and any penalties applied by providers. Cancellations 30 or fewer days prior to arrival – 100% penalty

No shows will forfeit the full amount of the package.

We strongly encourage all guests purchase comprehensive travel, medical, accident, luggage, emergency, trip interruption, and dive insurance prior to departure date. Activities such a scuba diving, white-water rafting, zip-line canopy, canyoning, rappelling, tubing, kayaking, horseback riding or ATV tours, as well as visits to volcanos, hot springs, mud baths and spas carry inherent risks. Participation is voluntary and all activities are performed at customer’s own risk. We will be happy to provide a quote for trip interruption and/or dive travel insurance if you provide us with your birth year.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• What to bring while traveling and touring: A small backpack for your towels, mosquito repellent, etc., plus a small amount of money for additional beverages, snacks, or souvenirs.
• Please be advised that local laws and customs prohibit the sale and service of alcohol On the Thursday and Friday (Good Friday) before Easter Sunday.
•  Please note that all itinerary times are approximate. We try to cater to our guests needs and will modify activities to meet these needs when posible.
• Prices do not include tips (tour escort, guides, drivers, baggage handlers, cowboys, dive masters, etc.). Many of the various people who will help you during your stay will greatly appreciate any consideration you can afford to give them.
• Not included in tour prices: International or in-country ground or air transfers not specifically included in your itinerary; departure taxes; cost of passports, visas, or tourist cards; excess baggage fees; additional fees assessed by airlines; personal expenses such as room service, beverages, or laundry; gratuities to tour escort, guides, or drivers, personal communication charges; personal insurance; or any sightseeing stops, tours, meals, or beverages not specifically included in your itinerary.
• Although Costa Rica is a small country, and the distances in miles or kilometers between cities may be short, due to the conditions of the winding, and sometimes bumpy roads, clients can expect long travel times between travel points.
• Traveler’s checks are not readily accepted in Costa Rica, due to the long wait for funds to become available.
• It is not necessary to exchange a large amount of money into local currency as US dollars are widely accepted. Airport money exchange centers do not usually give a competitive rate.

• Every reasonable effort is made to maintain rates as quoted, however, due to circumstances beyond our control (fuel, taxes etc.) rates are subject to change with notice. Increased government taxes and fuel surcharges may be collected by vendor at time service is provided.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. its owners, associates, agents, and employees) assume no responsibility for injury, loss, damage to person or property or for additional expenses due to acts of God, sickness, weather, terrorism, strike detentions, riots war, quarantine, theft, civil unrest, or government regulations and restrictions, over which it has no control.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. assumes no responsibility for any accidents, delays, inconveniences, expense or mishap of any kind whatsoever resulting entirely or in part from causes beyond our control.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. reserves the right to make changes that we deem to be reasonable in the itinerary where necessary.
• For trips and tours where FIND MY COSTA RICA, Inc. acts solely as booking agents, we assume no liability should any contracted supplier fail to provide any service. Find My Costa Rica sole responsibility if supplier fails to provide services contracted is to refund guests money for specific services contracted with specific supplier.
• Handling and security of all baggage and personal belongings is at the owner’s risk, and FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A.. is not responsible for any loss or damage.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. is not responsible for loss of life, personal injury, cancellations, delays, overbooking, or loss of services caused by any international or domestic flights.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. its employees and principles are not responsible for any loss of life, personal injury, bodily injury or loss of property as a result of the signer’s participation in any activities while in Costa Rica or travel to, from, or within Costa Rica caused by contracted Costa Rican representatives, tour companies or agents.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. shall be free of all responsibility or liability for any act, error, omission, injury to person or property, loss, inconvenience, financial loss, accident, delay, irregularity, physical or emotional harm suffered by any person while en route to or while a guest at any facility or any other event which may be occasioned by reason or through the act of God, theft, abuse, defect or default of any company, hotel, person, direct air carrier, transfer company and /or their employees, to result in unused accommodations or services in connection with reservations made on behalf of customer by Find My Costa Rica.
• FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. is not responsible for providing refunds or credits for trips not taken or delayed due to a customer’s failure to return this signed document prior to or at the time final payment is made.
• Any disputes between participants and FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. will be decided upon under Costa Rican law and La Fortuna, San Carlos Carillo, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica, will be the venue for any legal action.

What currency is accepted in costa rica.

The official currency of Costa Rica is the colon, though US dollars are sometimes accepted in select retail establishments. As Costa Rican banks may place a limit on your ATM withdrawals with foreign cards, it is wholly recommended you convert your currency and withdraw what you need before arrival. Airport conversion rates will not be as favourable, and it’s worth remembering that you may find it hard to source an ATM during outdoor-orientated tours that maintain a focus on rainforests and mountain hikes.

What language do Costa Rican’s speak?

This Country Was Just Named the Most In-demand for a Luxury Vacation — and It's an Affordable Beach-lover's Paradise

Who doesn't love living in the lap of luxury, even if it's just for vacation? Apparently, we all do because searches for "luxury travel" destinations are way up, and Renty , a luxury car rental company, knows exactly where the jet-set crowd needs to go next. 

In May, the company shared the results of its new study showcasing the most in-demand locations for a luxury vacation with Travel + Leisure via email. It came to its conclusion of which destinations rank at the top by using Google Keyword Planner to determine the average monthly search volume over the past 12 months for terms related to luxury locations, including "[destination] vacation," "[destination] travel," "[destination] itinerary," and "Visit [destination]." It then took the total number of average monthly searches for each term to determine the rankings. And after parsing through all that data, it named Costa Rica the most in demand. 

"Costa Rica ranks at the top, with an average monthly search volume of 34,248," the findings revealed. According to the data, the highest average search volume came from California, with 4,712.50 searches, followed by Florida at 2,984.17 and Texas at 2,660.83.  

However, Costa Rica's ranking is really no surprise to us. After all, T+L loves the Central American nation so much that we named it the 2024 Destination of the Year , thanks to its gorgeous beaches, lush rainforests, and a pura vida lifestyle that can't be matched anywhere else. 

Costa Rica was followed closely by Hawaii in second, with an average monthly search volume of 32,278, and was the most searched luxury vacation location in 20 states, with the highest number of searches coming from Washington. It was followed by Bali in third, with 27,331 average monthly searches in the U.S., with the most searches coming from Texas. 

"The top ranking highlights a variety of stunning vacation spots in all corners of the globe," Yevhen Parokhod, co-founder of Renty, said in a statement. However, it's clear that the U.S. dreams more about sunshine, beaches, and bubbling cities than white powdered slopes and other wintery experiences, given that many tropical destinations like Bali and Hawaii have made the ranking." 

These destinations were joined by the Maldives in fourth, followed by Thailand, New York City, Paris, Dubai, Los Angeles, and Fiji rounding out the top 10. But again, Costa Rica is still No. 1, and you should start plotting your next vacation to Costa Rica — luxury or otherwise — here .
