dave gorman tour 2022

It was announced today (Thursday 25 th August 2022) that, in advance of starting this September, Dave Gorman’s upcoming tour will be extended by a further 37 dates due to demand for tickets.

Dave Gorman: Powerpoint To The People will see the man behind Dave TV’s hit show Modern Life Is Goodish as well as Are You Dave Gorman? and Googlewhack Adventure back on the road this autumn with a brand-new live show.

The “high priest of the comedy Powerpoint talk” (The Times) is touring again – as much as anything to demonstrate that a powerpoint presentation doesn’t have to involve a man in a grey suit standing behind a lectern and saying, “next slide please”. We’ve all had enough of that, so let’s put it all behind us and never speak of it again – there are far more important things to analyse. Well… they’re more important in Dave’s head anyway.

This new show sees Dave continue to combine his unique and critically acclaimed style of stand-up and visual story-telling. His last tour was the critically acclaimed With Great Powerpoint Comes Great Responsibilitypoint which, three-times extended, saw Dave sell out four shows at London’s iconic Royal Festival Hall and the biggest theatres around the UK.

Dave’s live career has seen him sell out multiple tours of the UK, perform three runs off Broadway in New York, tour the USA, and become responsible for the fastest selling show in the history of the Studio Theatre at The Sydney Opera House. Live performances have also earned him the title of Best One Person Show at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival (twice), as well as nominations for the Edinburgh Comedy Award (Perrier Award), the South Bank Award and two nominations for the prestigious American Drama Desk Award.

Between March and June new dates will be added in: Darlington, Doncaster, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Weston Super Mare, Torquay, Cheltenham, Guildford, Crewe, Reading, Buxton, Harrogate, Wolverhampton, Dorking, Ipswich, Cambridge, Stockton, Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Chatham, St Albans, Bedford, Loughborough, Dudley, Dartford, Hayes, Porthcawl, Swansea, Canterbury, Cardiff, Stevenage, Oxford, Tunbridge Wells, Basingstoke and Dublin.

Tickets are available from, tomorrow (Friday 26 th August).  For the full list of dates see: www.davegorman.com .

What the press said about Dave’s previous tour, With Great Powerpoint Comes Great Responsibilitypoint …

“he has never been more enjoyable… backed by hundreds of precision-tooled graphics that he controls and interacts with as if he were in a double act with his laptop. The rapport between them is extraordinary… hugely entertaining 90 minutes of multifaceted, multimedia stand-up” ★★★★ Dominic Maxwell, The Times

“Gorman creates real magic from the unlikeliest of sources” ★★★★ Mark Wareham, The Mail on Sunday

“beautifully constructed” ★★★★ Veronica Lee, The Arts Desk

“exquisitely constructed show from a comic who is at the top of his game” ★★★★ Bruce Dessau, The Evening Standard

Review: Dave Gorman - Powerpoint to the People at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall

Every joke and witty comment had the audience in stitches

Comedian Dave Gorman on tour with his new Powerpoint To The People stand-up show

I had been looking forward to Dave Gorman's tour coming to Nottingham for months and he did not disappoint. I don't think I have ever laughed as hard or for as long as I did on Friday, November 5, during Gorman's Powerpoint to the People tour at the Royal Concert Hall.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who is still lucky enough to see the show for the first time, but it was absolutely brilliant and reminded me yet again why Gorman is one of my favourite UK comedians. Everything was so well planned, every joke and witty comment had the audience in stitches, and if that wasn't enough his well prepared PowerPoint slides would surely have you in uncontrollable laughter at one point or another.

Even some of the general comments Gorman mentioned at the start led to big laughs later on, and the audience left feeling as if they shared a million inside jokes with the brilliant comedian. From real life humour to cryptic crosswords and from being a parent to celebrity news, there was something for everyone throughout the evening.

During Gorman's piece on sliding door moments the audience were in fits of laughter, but nothing can compare when he revealed his mum's unexpected answer about Carol, and her unfortunate mishap with an actual sliding door. Even Gorman needed a couple of minutes to gather himself on stage, as even though we all found it hilarious, he explained it was even funnier for himself as he knows Carol.

There were so many brilliant moments throughout the entire set, but I can confidently say I left contemplating whether or not I need to try my hand at cryptic crossword puzzles and whether Janes are the new Karens. Another top highlight of the night was how well Gorman made use of his green screen costume at the beginning, which kept appearing throughout the night for further laughs.

It felt like every detail had been thought of, and it was all new and original material. You could tell the audience really appreciated how honest some of the jokes were, often at the expense of Gorman.

He regularly included the audience in his jokes, and even gave one lucky audience member a trophy for clapping the hardest in the first act. Although sometimes people may think he goes off on a tangent, it's always linked back perfectly, and if not it is usually a hilariously entertaining tangent he goes off on. Whether you have never heard of Gorman or have seen him perform a dozen times before, it really is a show worth seeing.

Dave Gorman at Hackney Empire review: feelgood standup that wears its intelligence lightly

dave gorman tour 2022

You certainly get a lot of Dave Gorman for your money with his latest show. PowerPoint to the People initially feels like two separate shows each side of the interval, yet they also slot together beautifully to make one epic evening.

It is no surprise that Gorman is so skilful at structure. As he explains after the break, during lockdown he added a new string to his bow compiling cryptic crosswords for the broadsheets. He clearly has a penchant for creating and solving intricate puzzles.

This stage show takes in his homeschooling experiences, his fixation on the alphabet being in the wrong order and an examination of crisp weight discrepancies that goes into so much detail it takes on an absurdist majesty. When Gorman becomes interested in something, however trivial, boy does he have fun drilling down into it.

There are accounts of pranks too, but very much of the benign variety, aiming to bring joy to the world rather than mock or humiliate. If there is a theme it is one of niceness. Why be mean when you can be good? He is the kind of person who can even find something pleasant to say about Donald Trump.

Gorman is the Tom Hanks of comedy, someone brimming over with affability. Hanks, coincidentally, is one of a number of famous names that feature in a section that mischievously plays around with the nature of stardom. Our Bournemouth-based host is not immune to the seductiveness of fame. He has his own weird celebrity crush and the screenprinted cushions to prove it.

A night with Gorman would not be complete without his trademark PowerPoint presentation, which means that he gets two laughs per punchline. One from the telling and another from the visuals. The technique is particularly effective when he recalls a self-inflicted trouser-based accident. The detailed description is already hilarious, the pseudo-scientific onscreen version is the icing on the comedic cake.

This is feelgood stand-up that wears its intelligence lightly. Topics are knitted together in a way that is so laugh-inducing it will make your face hurt. Beware of the passing aside, it will come back to tickle you later on.

If there is a quibble it is that, apart from maybe Dara Ó Briain, Gorman is the fastest talker on the tour circuit and sometimes – particularly when he is explaining the nuances of cryptic crossword clues – you have to concentrate to keep up. Yet pay attention and you will be educated as well as spectacularly entertained.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Keywords: Tuva, Early Iron Age, early Scythian period, Aldy-Bel culture, barrow, burial in the coffin, mummy, full genome sequencing, aDNA

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

dave gorman tour 2022

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

dave gorman tour 2022

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

dave gorman tour 2022

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

dave gorman tour 2022

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
