Is boating safe for babies?

Boating in the Bay is totally safe for the little ones. This is a kid-friendly activity in Miami. They enjoy the ride, speed and even jumping in the water for the bigger kids.

Of course,  we provide life jackets for babies and toddlers. Life vests are not mandatory for kids over 6 years old but we will still have them on board.

Make sure to let us know how many children will attend if it's more than 2 so we can plan ahead.

Is 4 hours too long?

Time goes quickly on a boat so 4 hours will pass like a blink of an eye. There are so many things to see and explore from a boat in Miami that 4 hours is not enough. Our best seller is 3-hour but usually people extend their trip to 4 hours.

The mayor of Miami has an ambitious goal—to reach a “functional zero” homeless population within his bustling city. 

“We reached functional zero veteran homeless, and I realized … that we could, we should, take it a step further and get to a functional zero,” says Mayor Francis Suarez, a Republican who leads Florida ’s second-biggest city.

Miami is partnering with several organizations—including Hermanos de la Calle, Lotus House, and Camillus House—to meet the varied needs of the homeless and create a model that other cities could duplicate to tackle their own homelessness crises. 

But Suarez says addressing homelessness extends beyond meeting the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the homeless—cities must also create an economic environment that allows all citizens to thrive. 

If city leaders want to effectively address homelessness, Suarez argues, they also must consider a “broader macroeconomic reality ” that plays a role in creating or alleviating the problem. To this end, the mayor says Miami’s government has followed three rules: “We’ve kept taxes low; we’ve kept people safe; and we’ve leaned into innovation.” 

Suarez joins “ The Daily Signal Podcast ” to explain how Miami is advancing toward a “functional zero” homeless population and to share the exciting results of a recent event toward reaching that goal.

LAS VEGAS (June 5, 2024)  – Yesterday, Brightline, the only provider of modern, eco-friendly intercity passenger rail in America hosted Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo and representatives from the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. The delegation took a ride on the rails and heard from the public and private sectors of the economic impact created by Brightline.

Governor Lombardo’s tour began in Orlando at Brightline Basecamp (Vehicle Maintenance Facility) and the Brightline Orlando Station in partnership with Orlando Health. Governor Lombardo, Brightline CEO Mike Reininger and Brightline West President Sarah Watterson took Brightline to South Florida with stops in West Palm Beach and Miami. They heard from local elected officials and members of the business and tourism communities about Brightline’s impact on tourism and business recruitment, transit oriented development (TOD) and connectivity to public transportation systems including Tri-Rail and Metrorail.

“I enjoyed seeing the operations of Brightline firsthand this week," said Governor Joe Lombardo. "The positive economic impact of Brightline is evident, and I look forward to the benefits this innovative transportation method will bring to Nevada in the near future."

Nevada Gov. Lombardo tours Brightline facility, rides train in Florida

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo and state transportation officials got a firsthand look at Brightline's operations as work begins on a high-speed train connecting Las Vegas and California.

Lombardo and representatives from the Nevada Department of Transportation and RTC of Southern Nevada toured Brightline operations in Florida on Tuesday, according to a Brightline spokesperson.

They visited Brightline Basecamp, a vehicle maintenance facility, and a station in Orlando. Lombardo then rode Brightline through South Florida, making stops in West Palm Beach and Miami.

Brightline's inter-city high-speed rail system in Florida runs between Orlando and Miami, connecting with six stations. The trains reach speeds of up to 125 miles per hour and the average journey time is about 3.5 hours.

The tour included hearing from Florida elected officials and members of tourism and business communities.

Brightline is building a $12 billion, 218-mile high-speed rail system from Las Vegas to Southern California, with stations in Apple Valley, Hesperia and Rancho Cucamonga.

The company says they expect to complete the project by 2028.
