From Past Trips...

holy land trip experience

My time spent there was perhaps the most influential thing I’ve ever done, it has greatly ignited my passion for social justice and encouraged me to advocate for the ‪injustice of this conflict as much as I can.

The tour went very smoothly. Adjustments were made appropriately to itineraries due to traffic conditions or time constraints, transport was comfortable and efficient, the guides were all informative and (mostly!) sensitive and the hotels looked after us well. We all enjoyed the food!

The most amazing thing is how the Palestinians have retained their amazing spirit! I felt so welcomed by everyone I spoke with and met while at PSE. By the end of my time in Palestine, I had a new family that I loved... many new friends from around the world... and I am happy to let you know I consider  ‪ Palestine my other home. Inshallah"

My own Christian faith has been deepened from my experience. I have more hope for the region from having met so many incredible people.

This program gives you a truly extensive immersion experience across The Holy Land. The community projects, the family visits, and access to policymakers sets this program apart from all the rest.

From a group of individuals, with varying motivation, we left as friends, not only with each other but with the people we met along the way and felt united as a group, bound by the shared and varied experiences which Holy Land Trust had given us. It was exhausting and amazing in equal measure, but above all, a once in a lifetime experience.

holy land trip experience

This was my first time to Israel, I had wanted to go for some time, but always seemed not able to. I’ve heard it said it’s beyond words, and I totally agree! Being in Israel, standing in the places where Jesus and the Apostles lived and traveled, going to the places that are recorded in the Bible was very emotional and humbling. Favorite places? I’d have to say all, but most memorable was the garden of Gethsemane, knowing the pain, suffering and isolation Jesus went through while all the time praying for us! Second, was the Magdala hotel that we stayed at in the city of Migdal was literally walking distance to the Sea of Galilee, you could stand on the shore and look north and see Capernaum, and to the south, Tiberias, and directly behind us Mt Arbel! I could go on and on. I’ve had many people say “wasn’t it dangerous?” to which I respond that I have never felt safer! Can’t wait to go again and learn more! Just writing this is reliving it! – Jim Eckes

Catholic Holy Land Tours

Experience a life-changing pilgrimage to the holy land, due to the war in gaza, all tours to israel/palestine have been postponed until further notice., please pray for the people of israel and palestine that peace will prevail., holy land pilgrimage.

A pilgrimage to the holy land, to experience “the Fifth Gospel” of spiritual pilgrimage and meet and engage with the local people, the “living stones” of the Holy Land… is far more than an inspiring holy land tour. It is a rite of passage in one’s faith journey that will define life before and after. The holy land tours of  Holy Land Trust , our West Bank partner, began nearly 20 years ago with a historic retracing of the “ Journey of the Magi ” from Iraq to Bethlehem and have carried the same mark of authentic, individual, and purpose-made  holy land pilgrimages  for people of all faiths ever since.

Our holy land tours range from open-brochure bookings to custom-made catholic pilgrimage experiences for faith communities, small groups, families, couples, and individuals. Each program offers a unique experience designed for the specific needs of the pilgrim or pilgrims. This  Catholic pilgrimage  is an opportunity to explore the spiritual underpinnings of the Holy Land, including how geography, history, and culture have shaped individual and theological understandings. Although this is a Catholic pilgrimage, members of all faiths are welcome to join us based on their needs, interests, length of time, and price range.

Holy Land Tour Details

What to expect.

For many, a pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a life-changing affirmation of their faith journey. These holy land tours bring to the surface important theological considerations and new questions about how the life of Christ applies to the individual. As you experience this enchanted holy land, you can expect the following:

  • Explore and experience all the essential Holy Land tours and sites.
  • Gain a fresh and profound understanding of the Bible and the life of Jesus.
  • Make unlikely, lifelong friendships and learn that we are more alike than different.
  • Meet and learn from Israeli and Palestinians working for peace and spiritual transformation.
  • Experience a more informed and richer spirituality.
  • Partake in some fantastic cuisine – particularly home-cooked meals!

Local Relationships

One of the unique features of our Holy Land tours is the opportunity to meet and create lasting friendships with Christians, Muslims, and Jews. While on your pilgrimage to the holy land, you will have the chance to meet local families and communities, so you have space where authentic, long-lasting relationships can be fostered into a commitment to pursuing peace. Our experience has been that these unlikely friendships create a situation where stories that might not be shared are opened up. It gives you a deeper insight into the spiritual intricacies of this complex land.

The life and times of Jesus, while short, were expansive, rich, and diverse. From his time in Galilee to his final days in Jerusalem, our holy land pilgrimage covers a lot of ground. We unpack the history of Christianity in the Holy Land and firmly place it in the larger regional context while making intimate connections to personal spiritual growth.

As it is in any country, there is a multitude of perspectives on the life of Christ. The Palestinian Christian community is not a homogenous unit but rather a rich culture that has sprung to life from its unique history and theological underpinnings. On this holy land tour, we will explore the rich tapestry of the local Christian Palestinian communities, which will prove to be an enlightening experience for all looking for a holistic pilgrimage to the holy land.

Customizable Experiences

As new historical discoveries emerge in the Holy Land, as the social landscape changes in your own communities back home, Holy Land Trust ensures that each tour is updated to reflect the most pressing issues of your group. We spend as much time as it takes to ensure our holy land tours are built just to meet your needs and requirements.

Geo-Political

While our holy land pilgrimages are expressly focused on the spiritual dimensions of this land, it is impossible to separate the Christian communities, their culture, and history from the political dynamics of this land. While it isn’t heavily integrated into the program, there is always open space for you to dig deeper into these urgent questions.

(Click headings for details)

Overnight flight from USA to Tel Aviv.

Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, and meet with our professional tour guide, who will be with us during our visit to the Holy Land. Then, transfer to our hotel in Galilee for dinner and overnight.

After Breakfast will start the day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus walked on water. Then on to Capernaum to see the synagogue and St. Peter's house, a visit to the Mount of the Beatitudes, where the Sermon on the Mount was given. Next to Tabgha, to see the splendid mosaic about the miracle of the loaves and fishes and to the nearby Church of Peter's Primacy, where Peter was told, "Feed my lambs, feed my sheep." There will be an unforgettable Mass near the shores of the Sea of Galilee at the Primacy or Mt Beatitudes. In the afternoon, we visit Caesarea Philippi, the location of the testimony of St. Peter and where Jesus answered him, "You are the Rock, and upon this rock, I will build my Church." Dinner and overnight in Galilee.

We start the day at Mount Tabor, the scene of the Transfiguration. Next, drive to Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine at the wedding feast; here, couples may renew their wedding vows. Continue to the Basilica of Annunciation in Nazareth and visit Mary's Well and the Church of the Angel Gabriel. Dinner and overnight in Galilee.

We start our day by visiting the city of Haifa; ascend to the top of Mt. Carmel for a panoramic view of the city and port. Visit Stella Maris Convent and the Cave of Elijah. After that, drive to the ancient Caesarea, once the Roman province's ancient capital. Visit the Byzantine churches, the Roman Theater, Crusader's moat, and the aqueduct, then Drive to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

This Morning we start our day by visiting Shepherd's Fields, where the angels announced the birth of Jesus. Then we continue to see the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem standing upon the site where Jesus was born. Mass in Bethlehem or the Shepherds Fields. After Lunch, we drive to the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St. John the Baptist, and to the Church of Visitation, where the Blessed Virgin Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the 'Magnificat.' Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

After Breakfast, we make our way to the Mount of Olives, where we will take in the beautiful panoramic view of Jerusalem. Next, we make our way to the Pater Noster Shrine, where Jesus taught His disciples the Lord's Prayer. Next is Dominus Flevit, the Church commemorates Jesus' weeping for Jerusalem. We continue the tour in Gethsemane, a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives where Jesus brought His disciples to pray the night before He was crucified. Beside the garden, we visit the Church of All Nations, built over the Rock of Agony and where Jesus prayed alone on the night of His arrest. We then proceed to the Temple Mount, the Dome of the Rock, and the Wailing Wall or Western Wall, the holiest site for the Jews. Continue to Mount Zion to visit the house of the High Priest Caiaphas (Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu). This Church commemorates where Jesus was brought to jail after his arrest. It also marks Peter's Denial of Christ. Continue to visit the Upper Room, where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Last Supper and where He appeared to them after His Death and Resurrection. Finally, we will continue to visit the nearby Benedictine Church of the Dormition. This Church is where our Blessed Mary "fell asleep." Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

Early in the Morning, we retrace the last steps of Jesus. As we walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow), through the markets of the Old City, praying the Stations of the Cross, we reflect on the greatness of His sacrifice. We will start our tour by visiting St. Anne's Church, the home of the Virgin Mary and her parents, Saints Joachim and Anne. Next, we will pass the Ecco Home, where Pilate proclaimed, "Behold the man." Finally, we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchres. Later, we will visit the Israel Museum to view the model city of Jerusalem as it was in Jesus' time. Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

Then, continue to Jericho, the oldest city in the world. In Jericho, we will have the chance to view the exact location, the Mount of Temptation, where the Devil tempted Jesus during his forty-day fast. We will then continue to visit the excavations of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were uncovered. On the way back, there is time for a swim (or rather a float!) in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, renowned for its healing properties. Farewell Dinner and overnight in Bethlehem.

The goal of these days is to let your eyes rest on the very places where Jesus lived and traveled, to soak in the beauty and to stand in awe and wonder of our God. We want you to experience the Word. Each moment will build upon the other and culminate into what could be the most significant trip of your lifetime. Embrace the journey! *SAMPLE ITINERARY – SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Breathe it in. You’ve arrived in the Holy Land. Over the next week, around every corner, scripture will come to life. What you once read in black and white, will now be in full color as you stand in the very places where these historic moments occurred. After your arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport, you will drive north along Israel’s coastal plains and enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean, enjoy a relaxing dinner and check into your hotel. Get some rest, your week is just beginning.

The Galilee region was the center of Jesus’ ministry. This is the land where Jesus grew up, showed his power in miracles and where he called the disciples to follow him. Today, this region of the Holy Land is still very untouched and looks much like it would have in the days of Jesus. During your time in Galilee, you will follow in Jesus' footsteps while soaking in the beauty of the land, watching the sunset on the surrounding hills, and walk quaint towns and powerful historic sites that bring the Bible to life. You will sit on hillsides where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, visit Capernaum and Magdala, and worship on a wooden boat as you sail the very waters that Jesus walked upon. You will also get to experience the Jezreel Valley, which has a long and varied history throughout both the Old and the New Testaments. Possible Sites: Mount of Beatitudes Capernaum Boat ride Sea of Galilee Mount Arbel Magdala Caesarea Philippi Mount Precipice / Nazareth Lookout Panoramic view over the Jezreel Valley/ Valley of Armageddon Mount Carmel

There is nowhere in the world like Jerusalem. History is found in every crevice of this ancient city where three of the world’s major religions overlap. The Bible has nearly 800 references to Jerusalem - called “the City of our God” (Ps. 48:1,8) Jesus traveled here as a child to worship in the Temple, and it was here as an adult that He preached and healed the hurting. Ultimately, it was here in Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected! For the Believer, your time in this ancient city will light up your heart and set your faith on fire as the story of scripture comes into clear view. You will explore the four quarters of the walled city, wander through the alleyways that kings and prophets once walked and kneel in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus also prayed. You will have time to visit the colorful markets and the ancient Roman roads now filled with shops brimming with Middle Eastern artistry and discover first-hand the collision of Jerusalem’s unique mix of past and present, ordinary and extraordinary. Possible Sites: Mount of Olives View over the Temple Mount and the Old City Garden of Gethsemane The Pools of Bethesda at the complex of the St. Anna Church The Praetorium, Pilate’s Palace Church of the Holy Sepulcher Western Wall Southern Temple Steps Hulda Gates, Entrance gates to the Temple

The Apostle Paul was imprisoned in Caesarea Maritima and eventually sailed to Rome from this port, taking with him the Gospel message that would reach the world.  Explore the wonders of the past once built along these shores by King Herod, a great builder of the ancient world. Possible Sites: Caesarea Maritima Via Maris – “the Way of the Sea”

The Judean Desert known as the wilderness is bordered by mountains in the west and the Dead Sea to the east and is drastically different than the Galilee region. The desert has provided a refuge and hiding place, solitude and isolation to many including David as he fled from Saul and is the backdrop for many of the psalms he penned. It was here in the wilderness that Jesus fasted for 40 days, and John the Baptist lived and began his ministry. You will travel on to Masada, float in the mineral rich water of the Dead Sea and visit the excavation site of the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Possible Sites: ‍ Masada Dead Sea Qumran

In the time of the Judges and the Kings, the Valley of Elah formed the border between the Israelite cities in the Judean mountains and the Philistines in the plain. The young shepherd David began his military career in the Valley of Elah, by defeating the Philistine champion Goliath with a well-aimed stone from a slingshot. Here in this valley Goliath met his match!

The Passion Holy Land Experience is coming to a close but we pray you are heading home with a full heart, a new nearness to Jesus, and a deep appreciation for the unchanging and powerful Word of God.

We will provide a list of recommended items to all trip participants before March. We recommend wearing long pants and bringing a jacket each day, as some holy sites will have stricter clothing requirements (arms and legs covered). Please plan to bring comfortable shoes or sneakers, as there will be a lot of walking.

We believe that you’ll have the best experience if you plan to participate in each of the planned activities with your group. However, if you prefer to schedule an alternate activity at some point during the trip, you are welcome to do so. Please keep in mind that transportation and other accommodations will be your responsibility if you choose to divert from the group.

While in the Holy Land we will be divided into multiple Passion Holy Land touring groups for the duration of the tour. All groups will have the same experience. These groups are generally based on inbound flight arrival times. If you are organizing your own flights, we recommend selecting flights with similar arrival times as your friends. We will do our best to honor all group placement requests, but it is not guaranteed that we will be able to place you in the same group should you arrive at a different time.

The best way to ensure that you and your friends will be placed in the same touring group is to sign up under one reservation with the same package type and flight selection. Participants must have the same package type in order to be in the same group.

We expect daily temperatures in March to range from 60-70°F. Please note that several sites are located outside with full exposure to the sun, so we recommend bringing sunscreen.

Because we will have attendees joining us from all over the United States, we will not be hosting predeparture meetings. We will provide all attendees with helpful scriptures and resources in the months leading up to the trip to help prepare for our time together in the Holy Land.

Most activities will include walking so participants will be walking approximately 2-3 miles per day. We would recommend wearing comfortable shoes or sneakers each day. Most walks will be lightly to moderately strenuous and there will be breaks throughout the day as you travel to and from sites.

Please plan to arrive in Tel Aviv on March 6 by 6p so that you can join the group for travel from the airport. Your departure flight should be on March 13 from Tel Aviv at any time after 2:00a.

While Israel is a very safe country to visit and tour, your safety is a top priority. We take all necessary safety precautions, including remaining in contact with local law enforcement throughout the trip. What is The Holy Land Experience?

Experience the sights and sounds of the Bible at Florida's most unique park.

As you step through the turnstiles of The Holy Land Experience , you'll travel back in time 2000 years to the far off city of Jerusalem in ancient Israel. Prepare to be amazed by spectacular recreations that bring the Bible to life through realistic architecture and presentations that not only entertain, but teach about this magical time.

Exhibits and Live Events

As you enter the park you're immediately thrown into the mix at the Jerusalem Street Market. It's there that you'll come face to face with artisans and shopkeepers who are more than willing to tell you all about life in ancient Jerusalem. Nearby, children are easily entertained in their own interactiveSmile of a Child Adventureland, where they can enjoy a presentations in the Smile of a Child Theater, craft stations, and a rock climbing wall.

One of the highlights of your visit is sure to be the amazing 45 foot by 25 foot long model of ancient Jerusalem — the largest indoor model of its kind. Daily presentations retell the history of the city — from its beginnings as King David's capital city to its destruction by the Romans. See where Christ walked as He ministered and where He traveled during His final hours leading up to His crucifixion.

An especially moving experience are the live performances presented multiple times throughout the day. In 2019 you can follow the story of David in a three part presentation. Other shows include Jesus at the Temple and Lazarus. Each will put you right in the middle of the action— you'll feel like a witness to this important part of history.

At the far end of the park, a vast display of Biblical artifacts in the Scriptorium provides an informative walk-through tour featuring the Van Kampen Collection that consists of several thousand manuscripts, scrolls, and other religious artifacts.

Among other highlights is a replica of the mobile Wilderness Tabernacle, where the Israelites worshiped during their 40 years of wandering in the desert. It is here that you will learn about the object inside the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant.

If you enjoy Christian music, you won't want to miss "Celebrate Jesus" karaoke, where you can actually stage your talent and sing praises to Jesus.

If you're visiting with kids be sure to sign them up for Roman Soldier Training Camp, a hand-on experience where they'll ready for combat with the Roman army.

Information and Tickets

The Holy Land Experience is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. The park is closed on Sundays and Mondays, except for special events. Hours may vary by season, so check the hours of operation calendar .

There are several dining experiences awaiting guests throughout the park, from the Esther's Banquet Hall, where you will find a full menu of chef or daily specials, to Last Snack where you can grab a hot dog right outside The Scriptorium. A variety of snacks are sold at Martha's Kitchen and The Church of All Nations Bistro — including giant pretzels, ice cream, or a sandwich. There is also a coffee shop that offers coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latté or iced specialties.

Those wanting a souvenir of their trip can find unique gifts, art, postcards, clothing, books and more at Solomon's Treasures, Gold, Frankincense, & Myrrh Shop, and the Ex Libris Book Shoppe. Bibles, reference, and study materials, biographies, and educational posters are also available. Forgot someone on your gift list? There are a limited number of items available online .

Tickets may be purchased online . Single-day online admission prices are $50 for adults, $35 for children ages 5-17. Children under age 4 are admitted free. Season passes are also available from $125-$149. Tickets are good for up to one year from purchase date. Tickets purchased at the gate are the same price. Parking is free! Backstage tours are available as well for an additional $10 per tour. The backstage tours are designed to give visitors a glimpse of what it's like running the park. On the Wardrobe Tour and Tech Tour, visitors will see what goes into putting on all of the award-winning dramas from the backstage lighting to what goes into each costume the actors wear. The Tabernacle Tour takes visitors inside the Tabernacle and explains all about its uses and religious significance.

The Holy Land Experience is located at 4655 Vineland Road in Orlando — off Interstate 4, at Exit 78, at the corner of Conroy and Vineland Roads.

Take I-4 East or West to Exit 78. Turn west onto Conroy Road, turn right onto Vineland Road. The entrance to The Holy Land Experience is on the right.
